After being on my bookmark for almost a year I finally visited The little french deli whilst visiting a friend that lived nearby. This interior is very small but so cute, as you walk in you so an array of pastries, cheese and meats. I ordered the ham and cheese croissant and took some french brie and salami home. The croissant was sooo delish, the cheese was a mix of bechamel sauce and whatever cheese they had left in the kitchen- perfection
Decided to try breakfast here with a friend today and it was absolutely delicious!! I had eggs bene with salmon and my friend had baked eggs and both were top-notch. This will be my new favourite brunch spot! :)
Such a cute little cafe for the area. This place does a solid brunch and coffee and is attached to a little french deli (hence the name). I'll add this cafe to my bookmark list and can't wait to try their dinner menu.
It was our first time to try this place. It was a last minute pick for my Dad's birthday and it was a great find! We enjoyed everything about this place from the cosy decor, to the friendly staff and delicious food. We ordered entrees to share, a main each (there was four of us) and desserts to share along with drinks. Food was delicious and well priced I might add. Fave was the beef cheeks and the dark chocolate fondant. Give it a go if you're in the area. You won't regret it!
We even went next door to the Deli and brought a few things to take home.
a little on the expensive side for what it was. I really want to rate this 3.5 but it wouldn't allow a half rating. Yes it was expensive but I wouldn't rate this just an average meal. the service was also above average.
Plus I left full and happy. Just not wow.
I love this restaurant, we are challenged for great eating out in the southeastern suburbs so for Valentines Day this was a perfect choice. Perfect food and friendly staff. The ambiance doesn’t kick in until after dark so book a late seating.
The only reason I don’t give this review 5 stars is for this reason;
No one wants ‘Valentines Day’ to go wrong, right? I decided on This restaurant 2 weeks in advance.
I first tried to book on-line only to find the site was broken. I then emailed them to book a table and to politely let them know they might be loosing customers due the the broken booking system on their site. At first I was told all was fine with the site and, only after some back and forward emails did they finally admit it had gone pear shaped.
All good and I had our table booked. Yes?
My girlfriend and I turned up to find my name was not on the list at all. The look that was growing across my gf’s brow told volumes about how this night was going to turn out!!
Thankfully we were shown to a table in the back that we expected, only after first being stuck out in the cafe part of the restaurant.
All ended well thank god but it is a lesson for any restaurant that uses online booking services, especially on such a date.
This could well have been a 1 star review if they had not come to the party - even if a little grudgingly.
Beautiful ambiance, setting and courtyard! Quality and service was exceptional. Pricing was a little steep and they could do with a few more options to cater for vegetarians and specific diet needs. Will definitely return, but probably just for a drink next time!
This review is mainly for the deli attached to the right of the restaurant. The pastries are always fresh and crisp and the service is quick and friendly. The almond crossiants are my absolute favourite and they are definitely a must try!
Amazing to say the least! I have always had such a great experience here. The food is always fresh and extremely busy so make sure that you get in early to avoid dos appointment . The crosiants are amazing and so are their other food options. Love it as it is just around the corner of my house!
A slice of heaven nearby to one of the best beaches in Melbourne - worth the trip! Croque Monsieur comparable to those I’ve eaten in Paris absolutely delicious
I've been here a few times before but never got the time to review it. This place has to be my cafe to go to, every time I'm on this side of town. It has never failed to impress. Service has always been exceptional with the friendliest smiles. Coffee was fantastic and the food was amazing also. Parking was easy in the front and I always manage to get a table outback. Very open space and relaxing. French music!! Just perfect. They need more items on the menu but otherwise definitely on my top list. Oh, don't forget to have a look at their desserts or to visit the deli next door for take away some fine foods
The food is amazing. The flavor and presentation are beautiful. The vibe of the outlet is comfortable and fashion. I really enjoy meal and relaxing times with friends there.
Love everything about this place we visit as much as we can . It’s a hidden gem with a big reputation for a good coffee and banter.

The kind service.
Oh and a tasty tart to top it off ( lemon tart ) it’s a local love of mine and the best coffee I’ve had in Melbourne
Thanks to the friendly staff and head chief. Who greet you in the morning it’s. 10/10 for me 👍👍👍
A little taste of France ..... I wish that it was closer .....
We've been there for Breakfast and Dinner ..... great on both occasions, especially Breakfast.
Worth the drive.
Food and service was great. Recommend the soufflé and creme brûlée. Also had the duck, apple tarte Raton, escargot and pork belly. Was all good.
Perfect spot for a lazy coffee and a madeliene on a warm Saturday
morning ....food is simply delicious ......
service wise : Charlotte and Josephine will serve u with a smile...its petit Paris in Bonbeach...vive Le France🇫🇷
Elegant, delicate, delicious. Possibly the best French fries I've ever tasted, plus a range of delicatessen goodies you can take home. Cosy ambience, friendly staff
Great little (hidden) gem! The pastries are delicious, the baguettes and Croque Monsiers are a great lunch and they do a good coffee!
A cool place to grab local French Delicacies too!
I went here today for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has a very homey feel to it which was a nice change from all the fine dining French places I'm used to. Service was great and the staffs were friendly. Will definitely be coming back and dragging friends with me.
Have only been for a light snack in their deli area, Croque Monsieur was so good, and a nice coffee! My husband really enjoyed his baguette too.
Enjoyed emmensly this morning our brunch x 2 of us, i had eggs benedict with salmon & mushrooms on the side (my staple brekky when i eat out), my daughter had scrambled eggs .... We both thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere & great vibe the restaurant has, nice decor & nice & clean... Deli also available, fresh local produce can be purchased (next door). All the staff were extremely friendly & professional, it was very busy but had time to accommodate our needs ... Highly recommended a visit, we will be returning, Kind regards 🤗🤗
Food is consistently good and service is always fabulous. It's the best place to eat in the area. I've tried a different item off the menu every time and have never been disappointed!
Continuing on with my love for French food, we recently visited The Little French Deli, a place I had bookmarked for quite some time and have been wanting to check out. We decided to head there one sunny day for lunch and they certainly did not disappoint!. Located along Nepean Hwy, two minutes from Bonbeach, my eyes lit up when we entered the deli area where they had delicious cheeses, cured meats, sausages and lovely dips behind the glass window to take away. We made a mental note to come back after our meal to purchase some goodies for home. The lovely staff directed us next door to the restaurant where we were seated. I loved the decor immediately. It had a really cute and cosy French charm to it.
This place is really cool and there is cute little courtyard at the back which is quite relaxing. Coffee is good and the sweet treats were delicious and very authentic. We even took some for the road and they were still nice a few days after! A worthy pit stop!
What a great little gem hidden away in our old neck of the woods Bonbeach, delicious food, great atmosphere and exceptional service!! Do yourself a favour and check this place out!!
This was my second visit at this restaurant; the first was...forgettable; last Friday I was part of group of 6 and followed a friend's suggestion. I'd heard it was under new ownership and we were warmly greeted by one of them (sorry lovely lady, I forgot your name). The food, most definitely received a serious upgrade! Perfectly balanced, creative, but within the range of Classic French; the prawn dish was a stand out and this meat dish with the broth that nobody could pronounce correctly was just divine; everyone at the table was impressed! Will certainly be back with my partner
We finally got to visit this establishment tonight, but found l was a bit disappointed with the "French" label of the restaurant. What is French about steak? With french fries, lettuce with a couple of cherry tomatoes?
The Beef Bourguignon was very small as was the Special Red Snapper.
The crepes were sold out ??? What flour milk and eggs sold out ???
So the creme caramel hmmmm very cold custard and absolutely no crack on 3 of them left us wanting.
The wine although nice was very expensive for what it was.
It's all a shame really we came away $70ph lighter and a bit disappointed.
The staff were very lovely although very rushed.
Not rushing back but it's good.
Yummmm! A cosy but popular place which offers a lovely variety of savoury & sweet breakfast, brunch, lunches & dinner. I had French onion soup which had that delicious home made taste and there was Caesar salad which is really well done too. A variety of patisseries are available and the coffee is excellent. The service is friendly quick and attentive despite being busy. I will come back here and try the wagyu burger or smoked salmon platter and I want a millefeulle too. Great discovery.
Amazing food and great atmosphere. I can't really say much more. Discovered by complete accident after a day at the beach, stumbled in for a drink in the courtyard, it was buzzing with live music and people enjoying a warm evening outside. We've since been back on a few occasions and haven't been disappointed ! A true hidden gem!
Baysides hidden gem
Had a family dinner celebration here tonight, I have been in hospitality for many years and it was the best food, service and ambience .
I had the fillet steak with truffle sauce it was to die for
Meals all came out together, presentation was a1 and reminded me of our trip to sweet Paris oolala.
Our waiting staff were fantastic with much attention to detail.
This is our local from now on
Watch out competitors these guys are serious and are here to stay
Well done again
Merci
We have tried this place twice now. The first time we had the french onion soup, escargot platter and the burger to share. The soup and escargot were very tasty however i found the burger average. We were hoping they would stick to more french cuisines initially but the choices of a french dish for lunch/brunch is quite limited. We thought we give the restaurant a second try, and we came bk to try the french toast, and serano, rocket and tomatoes on toast. The bread used is very tasty, and has a light crunch to it. The serrano ham has a unique flavour. Our only qualm with the pl is that the new waitress didnt know how to make my coffee(but the other staff were very helpful to her), and the burgers were average. As a patron of a french restaurant, we are looking for french food rather thn a menu with everything on it. Keep up the good things, maybe remove the unnecessary?
Omg had dinner here last night. The food was amazing. We had the eye fillet with truffle sauce. The meat was melt in your mouth tender, cooked to perfection, the sauce divine and the sides really tasty. The pastry platter looked wonderful and we shared a selection of pastries which were to die for. The only complaint .... No aircon on and it was soooooo hot in there it was uncomfortable. We will definitely be back.
A lovely cafe with lovely people. This is my favorite cafe in Chelsea. Great coffee. Good food. I love the lamb salad. It is delicious. My company tries their omelette special and he loves it too. We love driving to Frankston on the weekend and The Little French Deli is definitely our fist stop for brunch. Recommended.
Easily some of the best food I have had in Melbourne. Though sometimes the food can be a miss, which sucks when this place is more expensive than most. Still, the food tends to be amazing. I would recommend going during breakfast hours, the French toast is amazing!
We had our Christmas lunch here ($70pp set menu) and it was a lovely experience! It was a 35 degree day so we were very thankful for the perfect restaurant temperature. The staff were friendly and the food was beautifully and delicately plated (entree and dessert on share plates). I particularly enjoyed the garlic snails and oysters for entree, the main options of eye fillet or barramundi with quinoa and bisque were also delicious and rich! The french style cake for dessert wasn't as tasty as the first two courses, however the white chocolate spheres filled with lemon curd and other fillings were a fun touch. A charming little place which we will be back to if in the area!
Such a little Oasis on the way down to the peninsula. I always try to stop there for a croque Monsieur. The cheese platter is great for an afternoon snack. Their desserts are yummy. (Love the millefeuille) Also it is not their main argument; they have improved a lot on their coffee and i am really pleased to see that.
I really love this place! The food is delicious and reminds me of my time traveling through France...particularly the beef bourguignon and that mash potato is to die for!! I found it great value and staff helpful particularly when coming to wine!! Will definitely be back for an afternoon to try the outdoor area for cheese platter and wine in summer!
Excellent service and food as always. A hidden gem! I've been working through the menu one item at a time each visit and yet to find a bad dish. It's making it harder to decide on what to eat each time we visit.
Beautiful french cafe that served the most wonderful brunch. The stack pancakes were fluffy and just perfect. Coffee was served nice and warm and complimented the pancakes.
Came here with friends : had the tuna special & it was the pick of the night. Companions had steaks - medium rare was mooing. Yes, a little pricey but a different experience. Order the dessert tasting plate with coffees. It's just right for finishing off the meal.
Entertainment was a young jazz band making their way. Concept is a little bit of the West Bank of the Seine experience.
Great little brunch venue. The menu is extensive and the desserts are pretty damn good. Yum the crème Brule. The staff are super friendly and they make a decent coffee.
Had brunch here this morning with a good friend. Ordered the Croque Madame with mushrooms and avocado salsa. Was delicious! Service was great and staff were lovely. Wish I had room for some of their sweet pastries. Maybe next time :)
Went to the Raclette Night and OMG it was cheese heaven!!! A great night out with friends, totally worth the hike!!
I love the Little French Deli! I come here for the most delicious brunch in Melbourne! I recommend anything with the house smoked salmon... And afterwards delicious treats from the deli to take home. :)
My new favourite local!. Yes, it's takes a little bit of effort to find the place but when you do, it's totally worth it!
A little French gemme in Bonbeach!
Love the location (2min from the beach and train station) and love the courtyard! (my dog loves it too and is happy to be finally welcomed somewhere!)
Lots of rooms (i had my BDay party there with 25p, it was great!), the staff is very friendly and efficient, the food...i love french food!
the croissants, the smoked salmon, the brekkie, the pate, the bread...etc everything is yummy :)
and they also make good coffee!
nothing else to say, just check this place out and make your own opinion (i bet you'll love it too!)
Clear favourite among my family and friends. I absolutely love the Little French Deli and am so glad to have found something of this standard in the south-eastern suburbs.
I often visit with family and friends and everyone I've taken here has been pleased with the ambience and the food.
Prices are reasonable and presentation and taste of the food exceptional. Staff are able to recommend wine to go with your food, and are knowledgeable and helpful in regards to explaining the menu.
For a romantic date, I'd recommend booking a table at the front of the restaurant - while the back rooms are great for larger groups, the front is super cosy and a little warmer in design.
You won't be disappointed - this place is a gem!
Best Burger ever. Bonbeach Burger by the little french deli a most to taste
Crepe night. I've been coming to this restaurant since its beginning. I have seen its evolve and have never had a bad experience. The food is always of a high quality and full of flavour. The staff are also personable and always make you feel welcome.
Thursday night is crepe night, it's the first time I came, and it was so enjoyable in such a relaxed atmosphere! A fantastic way to finish your day at work, not having to cook but not overly expensive either.
I will continue coming to this restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone of my friends. The drive to Bonbeach is always worth it.
I have been here several times for breakfast and brunch. While I don't think it's outstanding I have enjoyed it and it's pretty good by suburban standards. One complaint I have is that when I ordered some ham & cheese croissants to take away I had to ask for them to be heated up, then I think they were just thrown in the microwave and were still cold inside.
Awesome. Never disappointed here.
The French Vanilla Slice is outstanding!
Lovely restaurant, Great vibe, Delicious food. The Little French Deli impressed me with its delicious menu, its chic style and wonderful customer service. I enjoyed a tasting platter, desserts and aperitifs which were all presented and completed to a very high standard (amazing flavor, fresh quality, cooked perfectly and presented well). The outdoor sitting area is cosy and intimate, adorned with retro furniture, and has a chic rustic design - it felt like I was sitting on a veranda in France. The service was flawless, very polite, attentive and personable. I had expectations coming in to this restaurant, and am more than happy to say that it exceeded them all. I was thoroughly satisfied, and will definitely be back. Thanks!
Nice, but pricey for what it is. We sat in the back room of this restaurant, and with the wooden floors and lack of sound insulation, it can make conversing with anyone that is not sitting directly next to you very difficult - keep this in mind if booking for groups, as it can make for a somewhat antisocial occasion.
I can't fault the food. It was quite fine, if not remarkable. French bistro classics done pretty well, but without any wow factor. The menu, while limited, will appeal to most and the selection of starters is more expansive. The price point, though, is a bit cheeky. $35 for a main which is fine if not great, portion on the smaller side, would not be tolerated within a 10km radius of the Melbourne CBD, but seems completely OK here. There isn't much competition around, and good on them if they have enough customers (indeed on the Saturday night we visited it was busy. It also took close to an hour for the meals to arrive). I guess I was just expecting something a bit more exciting for the price point. It may be a different experience during the day, but for an evening meal experience it was nice and OK, but felt like poor value.
Saturday Night. Only the second time that we dined here last night, the first occasion was fabulous, food service drinks all good.
Last night was slightly disappointing from a service point of view, I don't particularly care for the over top service you can receive in top restaurants in Melbourne.
One of the waitress came over to our table and asked how we were which I miss heard, (thought she was asking if we were ready to order) to which I said "no not yet". This seemed to have put her offside and we didn't get any service until I got up and asked for some.
Anyway overall the service was not very attentive, they took our wine away to give us more room and I had to get it back myself after we sat with empty glasses for some time through the main course.
All dressed very casually which maybe reflected on their actions.
One small point with the food the menu has changed and now you cannot order any sides of veggies, which is a bit disappointing.
Overall still great food, just a little staff training and attention to customers needs required. We will return, hopefully it was just a glitch.
Delicious creamy mocha, delicious scallops (the sauce was amazing), cute setup, would come again!

Really delivered! Was in the mood for a frenchy brunch today, my date and I perfectly satisfied. Coffee was on point too. Worth a drive if it's what you're craving. Thanks!
What a great place!!!! Made my husband me and my 1 year old feel so welcome. Service and food are fantastic!!!
Highly recommend u get the salmon!
Nice soy lattes and the homemade pastries are jaw-droppingly good (almond croissant - drool). Sometimes service can be a bit slow but they have seriously upped the ante since renovating. Lovely staff. Our favourite local!
Went to The Little French Deli for dinner last night & can't wait to return this morning to pick up the car so we can have breakfast----salmon, beef, beer, wine, bread & tarts in any order were all amazingly good. Staff are lovely young French folks who have transported a Little touch of France to the area.
Tres Francais! Recently have extended to next door and back garden setting is SO CHIC and very relaxed French style setting. Would like to see eggs on brekky menu however, being an egg fanatic. Genuine French staff with movie star looks!
The real deal. An incredible pop up. Popped up a while ago and I noticed it when I was going for a run along Nepean. Even from the outside the decore appears exceptionally authentic and cute with a lot of provincial furniture. Very french. Decided to finally pay it a visit today. Not much seating in the shop but there's a courtyard area around the corner and they're looking to expand in the next three weeks (so I overheard) - so excited! The fruit tarts looked amazing! I've never seen tarts that have been covered in such generous amounts of fresh fruit! Definitely going back for that. The french waitress that served me recommended the pistachio and raspberry croissant which I'll definite be back for. But I decided to get the ricotta triangle today which was pack full of flavour. Definitely going to make my way through the quiches and pies too. Great service - I paid for my coffee and triangle but didn't want the triangle til later - so they checked up on me at intervals to see when I wanted it. Can finally say there's a great cafe hangout in Bonbeach!
Fantastic place to stop for delicious French pastries or speciality cheeses and bread. Looking forward to going back soon.
Excellent food excellent coffee so many menu items I'm looking forward to trying and to have again. Its great to have this deli in Bonbeach
Excellent coffee & Excellent food.
Delightfully friendly service.
This place was amazing! Friendly service and delicious food! The onion quiche and apple tart are must haves
What an amazing little cafe. Friendly service and absolutely incredible food!! So far have only tried a few things.. but this will definitely become a cafe I frequent often. So happy this cafe is only down the street :-)
You mustttt visit!
What a find! Loved everything about this adorable cafe! Do yourself a favor and try it!!!
Très bon!. Gorgeous authentic French cafe which I discovered through Urbanspoon and had to check out for myself! The coffees are excellent and the pastries to die for. They also stock deli provisions so it's a great way to stock up on 'hard to find' items to serve at home - a great addition to the area!
Fantastic. Great little addition to the local scene with bread and pastries that are beautiful. Haven't had a full meal yet but first few buys have been gold.
Beautiful authentic food and people! Exactly what I have been waiting for locally. Well worth a visit if your in the area.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! The best Almond & Chocolate Croissant i have tasted! The Best Ham and Cheese Croissant ever! All made daily by hand!
It is a tiny gem! I will continue to try each item they sell and report back. Everything i have had until now has been 100% goodness! JP
Well how good is this deli? It's perfect, no fuss, great petite place, intimate, friendly, just spot on!!!
The best!. Love this little gem. The selection of cheeses is amazing and the homemade salami is to die for.
Utterly delicious with an authentic French influence, bring on flavours, cream butter and garlic and fluffy tasty croissants. The decor suits and the staff is more attentive than at a top end venue. A bit out of the way but definitely worth the trip for a nice brunch.
This lovely bistro is truly a beautiful place to enjoy traditional French food. The breakfast menu is wonderful. Real homemade hollandaise, perfectly cooked eggs, delicious hams and saucissons all served with a smile. Oh and as you would expect, the croissants with butter are excellent.
The deli is separate from the restaurant and has a great range of cheeses, hams, terrines, sandwiches, desserts etc.
They are open on Friday and Saturday nights and I am looking forward to trying out the dinner menu.
Love this little cafe!! Great place with tasty food, lovely coffee and friendly staff. Has made my lockdowns enjoyable getting some croissants to build up at home! Also reasonably priced and decent sized products.
How did we miss this gem of a place near us. It’s so hard to get good pastries and croissants nearby unless you drive down till Parkdale.
Lovely little French deli with some yummy pastries
Lovely little French Cafe! Fresh bread, croissants, croque monsieur and great coffees. Serving take away food and coffee during COVID and a great local place for traditional French pastries. Reasonably priced and decent sized portions. Staff were wonderful and very friendly, and high definitely recommend!
Had some French named ham and cheese sandwich.
Rather tasty.
Croissant very tasty.
Good friendly service .
Love the atmosphere here. French food, Wine cider. How else would ou spend Bastille Day. Not sure where Madame La guillotine was maybe they wheeled her out later. Would definitely go again
