Visited last night and we had a table of 6 and took the taste x 7 option with top wine and a couple Hibiki 17 year old for washing it down.
Service was top notch and very efficient and friendly.
For a porky who likes thrown strawberries this was an explosion of tastes that fought for space on the tongue with every fork or spoon.
Will have to start working through that menu to see if I can complain about anything at all ;)
Pork ribs and miso caramel An absolutely amazing plate in texture and flavor. Some pretty tasty cocktails as well ! Thank you to the whole staff for all around wonderful experience
Great place and well balanced flavours. Modern Australian with a Japanese asian twist, yum! Went back the second time, favourite fish dish got replaced which was kinda sad...
I wish I could give 4.5 stars, but I can't. There's something special going on at Blanca, you can feel it when you walk in and see the quietly dedicated kitchen staff focused intently on their work. The oysters and scallop sashimi were our starters, and both were fresh and full of flavour. The ox tail dumplings are an absolute winner, full of tender shredded meat in a delicious sauce, and you'll probably find yourself ordering a second round of these little beauties. The black bun with crispy soft shell crab and XO mayo is also another for the highlight reel. While the portions could be larger, the talent in the kitchen is easily discernible and makes up for the smaller sizes. Perhaps go the tasting menu if you can. Dessert was the only let down, with matcha tea and strawberry not quite living up to promise. Overall it's a stand out in a suburb not short on good dining. Take someone special. Four stars.
Where do I start with Blanca? The atmosphere, service and food get big ticks from me. East meets west never looked or should I say tasted so good. Finnish Chef Tomi Bjorck and local Chef Sam Cole pull together a menu that is exciting, creative and darn tasty! #blanca #bondi #fusion
Came in to get the ten tasting degustation for lunch with family. 2 in our party don't eat beef and Kaisa was real great in helping us change it to another dish instead. The courses were flavourful and the place has a nice ambience and atmosphere. The staffs were friendly and attentive. My family and I left feeling full and satisfied!
I had gone several times in Tomi Bjorck’s restaurant Bronda in Helsinki, so I was really excited about going to Blanca.
We were 3 guests. We chose the 7 course menu.
The food was excellent. I liked the mix between Japanese food and Mediterranean influences. Some would say there’s not enough to eat... I was full by the 5th dish!
The decor is really cool. Very Nordic/Scandinavian design, very comfortable.
Service was great.
I took my partner for his birthday and it was an terrific experience. The staff was super friendly and they explained the menu as it was our first time there. We did the seven course menu (normal and veggie) and we were amazed by the explosion of flavours. The coctails are so good as well. I recommend 100% this place because its a whole experience :)
Blanca's concept of Japan x Mediterranean fusion was one that piqued my interest. Located in the Hall St dining precinct, the restaurant offers a la carte or a selection of degustation options (seven, eight or ten courses). Eager to try as much of the menu as possible, we opted for the ten course option. We started with the Sydney Rock oysters which were given a hit of citrus flavour from the mandarin-szechuan pepper mignonette and these were quickly downed in one gulp and left us wanting more.
Put European style, Japanese flavours and top Australian produce in a bowl, whisk it around and you get Blanca – Bondi's sophisticated bar and restaurant on Hall Street.
Wasn't planning on dinning here, but it was pouring down rain outside and with no umbrella we stopped here to have dinner to wait for the rain to pass. The restaurant was full, so they put us next door at the bar instead. The menu is Middle Eastern & Japanese fusion, and are intended to be shared. But as we found out some dishes were really meant to be shared by 2 people and not more, so it was difficult with 4 of us, it would've been good to have some indication on the menu or explanation by waitstaff. The food on the whole were quite delicious, very flavoursome. All of the dishes, roasted cauliflower, miso eggplant, grilled octopus & pork ribs, were very enjoyable. The only thing lacking was a bit of carbs to go with the meal, but then this is probably not the part of town for carbs!
On a whim decided to head out for dinner on a Friday night but being a Friday in the East it seemed near impossible to find a table free at a good spot. Blanca kindly offered us a bench table (which we were happy with) but when we got there they delighted us with a regular table, with a clear view to the chefs.
The service - excellent. The staff - excellent. We ordered the 10 course degustation, it was probably overkill but everything was a delight. However, we had to cancel our movie plans because it hurt to walk with all that food stuffed into bodies.... The food was a delicious adventure and it was fun watching the chefs perform their kitchen wizardry. They didn’t rush us, despite a growing queue outside. Look forward to returning.
