Review Saigon Lane - Bondi

Joanne Phua
We ordered Miss Chu's to be delivered for lunch to the office one day, and it was the best. I recommend the papaya salad and long dumplings (I would not have normally ordered that, but my co-worker was amazing at choosing the good dishes). Not all of their dishes tickled my fancy though. I must say I was disappointed by their rice paper rolls.

Great if you eat there! But not so good for take away. The orders have been messed up pretty much every time and on one occasion have even forgotten to deliver. Thought we would give it another try last night but the quality of the food was terrible. I don't know if the chefs have changed but for an expensive take away the food was very bland and over priced. We got the chicken vermicelli salad, Shanghai pork dumplings which used to come with sauce were served without this time and very dry, chicken and rice, again dry and bland and rice paper rolls which tasted stale. I used to love miss chu delivery but definitely wouldn't recommend it to anybody anymore!

INEDIBLE!!!! I've been coming here since their first tuck shop which was great and this place has kept dropping to the extent it has become inedible. We ordered the duck pancakes which tasted like they had been microwaved, the pork dumplings which were gluggy and lastly the breaking point was the scallop & prawn dumplings which were OFF! Me and my friend both spat them out as soon as we bit into them! When we asked for the bill and informed The young waitress she said she would remove them and to wait for the manager. 10 minutes later we had to go up to the counter because they hadn't returned. They removed the item from the bill and the manager never apologised. Completely disgusted by the service and quality of food.

absolutely pointless and disappointing. 8 dollars for 2 fresh spring rolls (saying prawns and green apple) : small, almost only rice noodles, one stick of apple in each, 2 ridiculous prawns CUT IN HALF OR THREE that it seems you have a lot from the outside. And definitely no taste. Then 8 dollars for 3 "veggie dumplings", very thick dough, filling was like a paste of unidentified vegetables. 16 dollars for not being fed and feeling fooled.

Miss Chu's in Bondi is tucked away in a thoroughfare that looks like it would be more at home in the hip eat streets of Melbourne. We stopped over for a quick lunch after running the Bronte-Bondi track, and weren't disappointed. The staff were quite attentive to our needs, and brought water over straight away. To order, you need to tick the boxes on a menu with at least 100 different options, then hand it into the waiter. Luckily, I had a local with me to point out the specialties. We ordered the vegatarian rice paper rolls and thai beef salad - both of which were great. I thought the food was quite expensive for a quick 'drop in' lunch, and you actually wouldn't want to linger for too long, as the tables and chairs are extremely minimalist (read: milk crates that aren't too comfy, but look good!). Overall though, great food that definitely hits the spot!

Very disappointing experience tonight. Home delivery took 1hr 10mins. And then it was not what we ordered! They offered to replace the meals at the speed of light and refund money too. This was all done as promised. Thank you. But the food was flavourless and messy and nothing like what Vietnamese food should taste like. Quite shameful. I'll never order there again.

Looked forward to the duck pancakes, but they were disappointing, grizzly, and the entire pre-made was microwaved!! (Including cucumber) The crepe with pork and prawn was average, but the redeeming dish was the beef in beetle leaf. Service ... what service, if you eat in or take away, there isn't much difference in service. I know of many far better Vietnamese places to eat. I won't miss Chu!

Tasty food, his-and-miss service, fairly pricey for what you get. Sometimes you can order and they'll deliver in 5 minutes in the middle of a thunderstorm, and sometimes you can order and an hour later you've not heard anything. The menu is a bit of a rosebed-over-a-minefield, with some really tasty choices (Free range pork belly stew is the best), and some items that are drab, tasteless hot-spice. Overall: Acceptable fare when we're both too tired to cook some days.

Having eaten at Saigon Street in Bali numerous times and loved it,  I was happy to see this little gem pop up in Bondi.<br/>It didn't disappoint. Great food, great service and a buzzing atmosphere.

Came here with high expectations after being a regular at Saigon Street in Bali and was not disappointed.  Food was amazing as well as the service.  Came with a group of friends and had a fabulous dinner in a fun, buzzing atmosphere.  Awesome venue, will definitely be back again!

I'm a big fan of Saigon Street in Bali and was very interested to see what would be on offer here. Happy to say that I wasn't disappointed.. My favourite green rice prawns in lettuce cups still on the menu! Yumm! Also tried the edamame & avocado salad which was  fresh & delicious. Love the lychee  twist on the original Saigon Sammy cocktail! Plan to Uber home if you're having cocktails - cant stop at one! ;) Great work guys!
