Review Society Pizzeria Di Catania - Bondi

Stephen B. Cohen
We had a couple of very tasty thin and soft crust pizzas and a calzone (Troppo Buona with braised cauliflower, spring onion, olive and truffle pecorino) which were all tasty and served quickly by friendly staff. The only problem we had was that it the music was often too loud to hold a conversation so we would not eat in again but would consider takeaway. However as the food was great we'd recommend this restaurant.

Good typical southern Italian pizza joint (thin crust fresh baked dough). Porchetta pizza is my favourite with the pork belly and caramelized onions. Few dine in tables so come after 8pm if you must. Amex and Android pay accepted.

Best pizza I had so far in Sydney! Great Napoli-style pizza, the dough was chewy and soft. Got the porchetta pizza which was amazing. The caprese salad only had one piece of mozzarella and so much condiments, a bit disappointing. Service was so-so, not super friendly, they got the order wrong, we had to ask for water twice and they asked if we were eating in, like they wouldn’t give you tap water if you were take-out. I saw in other reviews that they were served peperoncino oil but we didn’t :(

Great authentic Italian pizza. If you like some heat try the diavola, it’s great

Monday/Tuesday all you can eat for 20aud in an hour. Really good quality pizza cooked in a traditional oven. Good value. You may need to book to get a slot at your desired time. Only negative very small inside and you sit on stools. Not very comfortable, but still a good experience. I also ordered an extra side of tomato/basil and mozzarella salad. Very tasty. Go on give it a go.

Best pizza and best service in Sydney!! Their pizza are amazing; fresh ingredients, delicious crust, original recipe... you eat them and feel like you’re in Italy! Their tiramisu is deadly !!! It’s like eating a cloud of happiness 😍😍! And on the top of everything, the service is 4 stars ! They’re all very friendly and professional!! I would go every day if I could !! Thanks for the lovely food and always lovely times in your restaurant !! ✨

Very good pizza with both traditional as special toppings. Monday and Tuesday all you can eat for 20$. Very friendly staff. Just go there and see for yourself ;) -edit- Lost a star because lately their quality hasn't been consistent. Pizzas are sometimes really small one day and big the other, sometimes they are generous with toppings and other times you wonder if you just ordered a margarita (dude, where are my toppings). Overal still great pizza -second edit- Another star gone because I’ve been getting wrong orders and the pizzas are burnt.

On Mondays and Tuesdays it’s all you can eat for $20. It’s a great deal and you definitely get your money’s worth. The pizza is thin style and the toppings are traditional Italian toppings. It’s a cheap and belly filling night out. #pizzeria

**Updated on 18/10/2018**
Since my original post, I’ve also tried the Gamberi (prawn and chilli). While I enjoyed it, my favorite is still the Magic Funghi. What did they say about first loves?

Original post: 29/10/2018
I’ve had the Magic Funghi and the Nutella pizza here, and both are absolutely amazing. The crust is thin and soft, and the topping is flavourful. In the case of the Magic Funghi, they are really generous with the amount of mushroom they put in the pizza. To top it off, the truffle oil really enhanced the flavour of the pizza. Living a short distance away from here makes it the perfect place for us to do takeouts and enjoy the warm pizza in the comfort of our home. However, even if I was just in Bondi for a visit, I would make a point to stop by this place if I was hungry or craving for pizzas. Can’t wait to get more!

We had takeaway pizza. It was good but not great. The inside of the pizza was too soggy you couldn't pick it up. I think they need to make the sauces a bit thicker and reduced so this doesn't happen. Flavour was nice but overall it doesn't compare to some other traditional pizza places.

Super tasty authentic Italian pizza... great diverse menu of red and white base options including lots with genuine bufala which are super tasty. It's a small place so book if you want to eat in. We had to settle with takeaway for this time.

This is the photo a of the box of the dairy free pizza served with cheese after a written comment and a phone call. Be careful if you have an actual allergy - it's clearly not a concern.

Pizza was very average, especially given its price point. There was probably only about 5 slices of salami on the pizza, and a few bits of pork belly on the other pizza. Won't be back ☹️

Came here for dinner orders two pizzas, Marcantonio was good but the oven could use a clean as the pizza had too much charcoal on the bottom. Service was good too.

I think the pizza is so different from the last times... i think is changed the pizza chef? Because when i walked in last 2 times i didn't see the the regular chef that i see every time.. i hope he coming back because the pizza was amazing..

I swear never to eat conveyer belt pizza again.
Wood fired, Society Di Catania all the way from now on.
It is just a whole other experience, especially when they cook it like Society - bubbling crusts surrounding delicious and unexpected ingredients
Tip to the wise - try the cauliflower - just saying

My favourite place in the area to grab a pizza! I don't know how they do it at Society Pizzeria but the dough bases are incredible and the gourmet pizzas themselves are very special. My favourite here is the margarita- it's simple, but done very well at Society Pizzeria. I've tasted a few of their other gourmet pizzas and they have all been delicious so far. I'd definitely recommend this place

I visit Society Pizzeria di Catania on a Saturday night, and by 6:30pm the place is bustling. The pizzeria can fit just 6 tables inside, and there is a queue out the door by 7pm. Get here early if you are hungry!. Society Pizzeria di Catania is a casual and authentic italian food, with homage to Catania, Sicily, and served with a generous pinch of italian fun. Tiny takeaway salad, container was half full not enough to feed one person. For the prices they charge you would expect a normal sized salad

Semplice - Garlic & mozzarella ($8) very tasty with a good amount of cheese and garlic in the middle of the calzone although not as much towards the ends. Good value for the size and quality and would be happy to order again. Makes for a good starter to share and chilli oil goes really well on it. Cucuzza - Fior di latte, prawn, char-grilled zucchini ($22) had plenty of good sized prawns, yummy flavour and soft pizza base. The zucchinis had a habit of falling off the pizza though when picked up because the base was so soft. Add chilli oil for extra flavour joy. Service was busy in the kitchen and these guys seemed passionate about making wood-fired pizzas.

For years this building has housed about 3 pizza joints - over and over.

This place is a great addition to Bondi road. I've been meaning to try this place after walking by and smelling their irresistible pizzas being cooked. This place gets busy with limited seating so be aware, being so small but that's the norm around Bondi . The staff are friendly and courteous.

The sausage, greens and cheese pizza is what I ordered for me, my brother and myself. It's about $22 or $22. It was nice but. Little too salty for me.

I used to live litteraly a step door distance from this place, when it wasn't there yet and I discovered it just recently when some friend brought me there! Such an amazing, fluffy, tasty, great pizza! I am so disappointed that I now live quite far away otherwise this place would have become my new usual pizza place for sure! Keep it up guys, you are doing such a great job!

So I never normally write reviews but after tonights experience I am. Ordered a pizza at 8pm online was sent an sms it would be delivered by 9pm. No pizza at 9:15pm. Called and told it just left. At 9:45pm called again and told it had definitely left. When I insisted to know what time it left I was passed on to the manager who then worked out they had made a big mistake on their side with my order. He said they would redo order free of charge. Finally at 10:15pm get pizza more than 2 hours after ordering. Then at 11:17pm when I am in bed my buzzer rings and get woken by he driver asking for money. We called the manager to find out what happened who said I had to pay for the pizza and the next time I ordered I would get my pizza free. Well there definitely will be no next time. Terrible customer service.

Absolutely delicious! REAL and Authentic italian pizza. The service was great and the atmosphere was really good. You could hear the chefs speaking italian in the kitchen so it added to the whole experience. Would definitely recommend the margarita! yum!

Best pizza in Sydney. Superb, fresh ingredients coupled with authentic family recipes from Catania. Have the black dough made with activated charcoal and relive the moments for days afterwards!

Wood fired pizza cooked well. Fresh ingredients. Awesome desserts - ie. the tiramisu. They deliver as well, so there's no need for Domino's or Pizza Hut when this place is dishing out healthier, tastier options and tons more variety as well.
