Like kids in candy shop, can’t get enough and can’t choose what to have!
Ending up buying 6 types of pies, sausage rolls, croissant, and delicious individual apple pie.
My favourite pie is :
1. Beef cheese and bacon, awesome filling.
2. I found those pulled beef was a little sweet, might be from port reduction but damn delicious.
3. Thai Chicken curry was amazing with some of chunky vegetables inside pie fillings.
4. Lamb and Rosemary was classic yet another
Winner here!
5.chicken & leek pie... who doesn’t like this combo?
6. Steak and kidney... first time I’ve try, I am still getting use to the profile flavour.
Apple pie and pecan pie, ...... to die for!
Located on the main thoroughfare of Bowral, this small but well filled patisserie does a roaring trade if you judged it by the queues outside! Cabinets and shelves are filled to the brim with an array of delectable cakes and pastries. There are a few tables and chairs outside if you wished to eat your purchase straight away.
Tried not to buy one of everything (which I would’ve been tempted to had I not had other things to do after), I narrowed down my choices to the Eclair With Chocolate Creme Patissiere, Banoffee Tartlet, and Almond Croissant. The eclair was nice and light and filled with a creamy and delicious chocolate custard and topped with a chocolate icing. The tartlet was a sweet tooth’s dream. Very indulgent with layers of banana, caramel, and cream. The croissant was flaky and tasty.
If you’re in town, make sure to stop by this patisserie to see what’s the fuss is all about. I know next time I’m back I have to try the award winning Vanilla Slice.
The ambience of this store was great, as soon as I walked in the store, I wanted to buy as many as possible lol. I can tell that the crowds that were there were excited and those who have done their research. Unfortunately, we had to take away as there werent many seating, only a few. We drove from Sydney and was expecting to have a coffee there too. However, quality of cakes are top notch! A must stop in Bowral
When we entered the town I saw a small bakery, so we walked in that direction with the hope that it would be more affordable. Luckily the Gumnut Patisserie wasn’t too over the top. Both my partner and I ordered a Mussumn Curry Pie and a coffee......
Bowral has a lot of reasons for you to fall in love with. One of these is the pastries at Gumnut Patisserie. So decadent and addicting. Worth a weekend trip or just to stop by on your way to Canberra.
We visited the store in Mittagong as recommended by their website as there is free parking and no queue. It was true. The beef pie was ok not bad not not spectacular. The pastry and meat were standard in flavour and texture. The lamb and rosemary pie had a generous lamb filling. The standout was actually the vanilla slice! The crunchy biscuit layers matched well worth the generous custard layers and was a heavenly delight.
The thing is I didn’t try their signature pastry as it was too crowded in the shop when I passed by. So I quick grabbed a brownie and a fruit tart. Both didn’t amaze me but have to say the flavor is decent. The brownie had a really thick texture.
This small busy cafe has one of the best BEST cakes, croissants, pies and quiches. Don’t miss the award winning salted caramel tart (ate it up before taking a picture)!! A place to go again and again 👏🏼 Well Done Team Gumnut!
Absolutely delicious food if not a little pricey. Everything is of amazing quality but I'd especially recommend the vanilla slice which was just something else entirely!
Very delicious selection of patisserie. The vanilla slice is perfect and a must try. The triple choc brownie is about a 8/10. The passionfruit tartlet is amazing, not sour and as someone who’s not particularly a huge of a fan of passionfruit, I highly recommend 9/10. Careful not to leave it over longer than 1 night in the fridge.
