Located close to the station and close to free car park, I went here for lunch one day and ordered the royal burger (beef patty, bacon, cheese, pickles, milk bun, lettuce, tomato, sauce) which came with a side of chips for $18. Food came quickly and was a much larger portion than expected (but I ain’t complaining ofc). The burger was good, with the pickles not being too strong. The chips were nicely done and were not over salted. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. The only down side was that it took a while to be initially served (allocate a table, give menu, tell us where to go up to order).
Welcoming, friendly staff. Lovely hotel, great food, reasonably priced and generous servings.. nice warm fire added to the homely atmosphere.
Went here for a family dinner and being Bowral, it was very cold outside. The Royal was warm and very busy. We ordered a fresh hot crusty bread to share that was delicious - it came with oil and balsamic. One of our group got bangers and mash (she's been living in England a while) and enjoyed it- 2 sausages, mashed potato and peas. I got the steak, well cooked to a medium request that came with greens (peas, broccoli, and beans) , chat potato smash and your choice of sauce (you are able to get chips if you like). My brother got a chicken parmigiana - it was huge - and delicious (he let me try some). It came with salad and chips. Dad ordered the trout - the full fish that was named with lemon. It came with a huge bowl of chips. Great service and huge meals, well priced.
Generous feed on a cool winters evening! Absolutely loved my chicken parmigiana and my girlfriend was satisfied with her bangers and mash!
Great portion size and great vibe.
Classy Dining in Bowral. On a fine sunny day caught the train to Bowral and was lucky enough to find this lovely renovated pub.
A very relaxed classy dining room, with an outlook on to a stunning courtyard / beer garden.
Welcomed by a delightful waitress who was knowledgeable as to the food and wine on the menu.
The hotel has the same owner as St Maur, a local vineyard. Tried their Argyle Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Can recommend both highly.
A good selection of dishes so I chose scallops and pork belly with pea purée , scotch fillet steak and fries, and creme brûlée. All good with the main being overshadowed by the other two dishes for style.
Truly a fine hospitality experience.
Australia Day lunch with my siblings at The Royal Hotel was a good decision. We chose to sit at the open air garden at the back and it was ideal setting with good shade and large tables to accommodate our group of 10. The menu catered for all taste and everyone enjoyed their respective choices both in flavour and generous portion size. Definitely have to come back to try other menu items. The bar staff provided great service as well.
As you would expect for your average local pub. Nice that it has the outdoor area with lights, however could really go some music out there, it really lacked a bit of atmosphere.
When we went they had a Dos Hombres Mexican menu... 10/10 would recommend! Honestly they get a star or two because our meals were so tasty.
This is a must visit place. It exudes ambience as soon as you walk through the door in the cooler months. You are always greeted from behind the bar as you enter - on the left hand side is this wonderful fireplace crackling away & then when you walk on through to the bistro area there is another fireplace. The service at the bistro is A1 the food is delicious- large in size at a great cost. We love travelling down from Sydney to Bowral & always stop here to have a eat.
Very well cooked and presented food as decent prices. Kids meals excellent value.
Outdoor beer garden very inviting, packs out quickly on a nice weekend. Centrally located venue. Was hard to fault, especially for the price of lunch and drinks for the family.
The beef cheeks and roast pork were fantastic and very generous servings. The staff at the bar and especially the restaurant were friendly and provided very good service with a smile and humour.
Recommend a visit.
I booked the Royal for my 30th Birthday party and it was sensational. The staff on the day were lovely, and Tim who helped with the booking and organisation was extremely helpful and friendly. The canapés were amazing, all of the guests complimented how nice the food was. Made my birthday one to remember, so thanks so much :)
Loved the food and our server Lilly was was just amazing. Thank you so much for the fab night. Will be back.
