Fantastic food at really reasonable prices in an elegant setting with great service. We were there a busy Friday night and couldn’t fault it. Will be back soon.
Fabulous remodel of the interior both up and downstairs. Food is still great - thank you and most of the staff are old hands so service is very good - as it was before the reno. Very happy me!

Rice Paper Rolls (veg): I really liked these rice paper rolls, and especially the flavoursome sauce they were served with
Sweet & sour chicken: A nice take on a classic. I liked the slightly crispy batter on the chicken, that wasn't super thick
Bowl: The bowl was very generous in terms of serving size! The crispy spring rolls were very contrasted to the rest of the bowl which was quite soft. The dish definitely was tied together by the tasty sauce

Food was delicious, fresh and quickly prepared. Staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant gets very busy at night, so it's advised to book in advance. Will be back again to try more food.
Been here twice and the place is absolutely amazing. The bun (vermicilli) with lemongrass beef and the lunch special (fried rice with fried squid) was perfect. It's nice to have vietnamese food that doesn't make you feel sick of unhealthy afterwards. Highly recommend this place
Thought the food here was really fresh and delicious. We had the spring rolls and beef wrapped in betal leaf for entree. The beef was nice and juicy both entrees were serviced with crispy lettuce and fresh herbs. I had the beef noodle soup with lemongrass and chilli and boy did it pack a punch! Was nice and spicy and flavoursome. All the dishes were decent size. I’ve noticed that a lot of people are commenting on the price however based on the fresh produce, flavour and the venue itself which is quiet nice and modern I feel as though the price is quiet reasonable. Looking forward to coming back and trying different dishes.
Taste is good. I think all the dishes are overpriced. Portion of Pho is not enough. The restaurant is clean, but not much space between tables. Not fully satisfied at the end.

Not extraordinary but a popular place with some great food at Box Hill. The interior and atmosphere was quite modern, clean and nice; and the service was quite prompt and quick.
I ordered the prawn spring rolls and the grilled lemongrass pork bún. The spring rolls and the sauce were really nice and refreshing. The bún was quite nice, but a little on the bland side on my opinion, but the portions were filling.
However, the place does fill up quite quick on the weekends, so I would definitely recommend booking in advance!
Ok, the tables might be a little close together in places; but if that's not going to annoy you too much, the food is incredibly fresh and tasty.
Highly recommend the tofu salad, coriander chilli prawns (generous portion and very fresh...good amount of chilli). Will be back for sure!
Authentic vietnamese restaurant in boxhill, have heard of it but never really tried it out till now. Modern decor and interior design inside, besides a bit cramp between table spacing. We had broken rice with pork, tasted pretty good and top it off with vietnamese ice coffee.
We ordered spring rolls, pad Thai and the bun bo hue, the one with chilli, lemongrass and beef. None of the dishes disappointed us. The flavour was on point.
This Vietnamese restaurant has been successfully running in Boxhill for a long time. I really enjoy the flavours here although it is more catered to a Caucasian palette. I find the flavours are quite authentic with the price of the food a bit more than your usual Vietnamese restaurant.
The pho , bun bo hue , the vermicelli noodle dishes with the bo la lot and Hanoi spring rolls are my favourite dishes , the deep fried ice cream here was also quite good .
Ordered take away to be delivered ...super quick delivery ... and all dishes were generous and full of flavor ... the chicken satay was moist and the Hanoi Spring rolls ... crispy on the outside and an explosion of flavors are divine ...the shredded chicken salad was fresh .. maybe a bit more chicken if I had to say anything in the way of CC... will be back
The food at Tien Dat has such an amazing traditional taste, and is delicious! We started off with their Spring Rolls (which were so fresh) and went on to eat the Pad Thai, Pho and Chicken Curry. We enjoyed every dish! Staff are friendly and helpful! We will definetely be back 😊
There’s a reason why this place has been in business for so long. Good quality food and variety never disappoint. Some of the dishes are more Chinese inspired. It’s not your usual pho place where the decor and ambiance is not “exciting”. Au contraire, this place provides both good quality and ambiance.
Kids love chicken, they devoured grilled chicken with rice. My hubs got the lot with Hanoi spring rolls. Again I can’t eat shrimp but he said this spring roll is different and he inhaled them.
My fave is an oldie (classic) but goodie. Beef with betel leaves. We also got the rock fish with snap peas. I like their seasoning and sauce not to sweet just the right amount of spicy. If you still have room and want to get healthy order the Chinese broccoli with tofu and mushroom.
And oh don’t get intimidated with the line,we’ve gone there a few times without reservations but they let us in (just need to leave by a certain time)
The best joint in Box Hill hands down, food is fresh and very tasty, staff are also very accommodating.
The restaurant is very clean and has a great vibe, definitely recommended.
I love love love Tien Dat!!! Have tried so many items on this menu, and have loved everything! The Bun is fantastic - such a big serving, it really hits the spot. The pho is right on point as well. Another favourite is he Bo La Lot - so much better than other ones I’ve had! Definitely recommend this place for a cheap and cheerful night out - but don’t forget to book, as it can be very hard to get a table!

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Bought take away which didnt require a long wait. Bun and spring rolls were delicious. Its quite a large and filling meal. Will be back to try other foods at the restaurant.
Wow, what a gastronomical delight visiting Tien Dat today. Food was fresh, arrived fast and was simply divine. Staff were friendly and efficient. A definite must try if you love Vietnamese cuisine and my new favourite (don’t mind driving the 49km)
The streets of Box Hill are always changing with new food places coming in and out all the time, and even as a local, it's hard to keep up. Tien Dat has a very nice, modern, clean fit out which will probably hide its age (it's relatively new now) for years to come.
Although the pho is slightly pricier than other restaurants in Box Hill (both in actual price and serving size), the difference was quite worth it - the quality of the meat used was noticeably better. The only issue I personally had was with the broth: it was a good broth, but I would have liked it slightly stronger.
Food was amazing, exploding with flavour. best tom yum I’ve ever had. Loved the ‘wrap and roll’ menu, great concept. We will definitely be back!!
Modern fit out. Narrow spaces here and tables close together but the whole thing works well. Seems like modern Vietnamese. I was after a lightish meal and ordered a beef salad. Bottom line: best I’ve ever tasted. Better than any I’ve had here or in Vietnam itself. Exquisitely flavoured with beef done just right it was superb. Decent sized serve too. Serious points to the clever soul who added a riesling freak (no 5) to the wine list here. Magnificent choice. They know their stuff here. This was the meal I’d been seeking in Victoria St for some years but never found. Recommended.

Recently renovated restaurant, airy, bright, clean, comfortable decor.
Reasonably priced dishes of the typical variety.
Relatively yummy dishes, not spectacular but presented well, missing the finer details like no lemon with the pho, bean sprouts, mint not fresh.
Customer service is passable, one of our main dishes took almost an hour to arrive, at the end of the dinner.
Final verdict....it ok.
My partner and I eats here frequently, we always have their Mixed Dry Vermicelli and Spicy noddle soup. I’d always like to compare this place with Indochire down the street and this place does have some more unique choices to offer.
I think their main dishes taste better and more fresh, but in terms of vermicelli or noddle soup the other place down the street is better. But Tian Dat definitely wins in terms of service.
We decided to visit for a family lunch and found the food to be fresh and tasty. The restaurant has been renovated and is very nice. I highly recommend this Vietnamese restaurant.

Fabulous Vietnamese Fusion food closer to home than our regular Victoria Street 'go to' restaurant. Will definitely return to work our way through the rest of the menu.

Tien Dat would have to be my ultimate pick for dining down Carrington Road in Box Hill. It's perfectly positioned between the train station and home for me and while it's always busy I have yet to be turned away when going in for a quick after work dinner. Suggest the later dining times could be more problematic. Tien Dat does a decent range of Vietnamese dishes well and my favourites include the vermicelli noodle bûn dish with lemongrass chicken and a good pouring fish sauce for added taste. Add spring rolls to the dish for added crunch factor. It also does a range of miscellaneous Asian dishes such as sweet and sours and black beans of the world which hardly need to make an appearance on the menu given how good the Vietnamese content is but I guess they want to appeal to a wide audience. I am also a fan of the lemongrass/ chilli tickling fish stir fry... delicious.
I have not been In since they have closed down briefly for renovations but shall certainly check them out once they reopen and will be hoping their food remains as good as it has been in the past.
By far the best restaurant in box hill. Good service, good food, good quality and friendly staff. Ordered the BuLocLac and red pork curry. The highlight here is the bu loc lac. The peanut butter sauce is to die for. Pricing is on the high side but worth it. Book in advance otherwise you'll be in for a long wait.
Came here with like a huge booking of 15+ for a friend's of mine birthday. It's a very crowded restaurant but don't really mind it, overall friendly staff that tend to our needs. I ordered the broken rice with the lot, It was my first time ordering broken rice after being told non stop by my friends and it did not disappoint me. The dish was really satisfied 👌

So we decided to branch out from our usual Vietnamese place, and chose Tien Dat down the street for a leisurely lunch after grocery-shopping. The restaurant itself was pleasant enough, with practical seating (I could see it becoming quite cramped and uncomfortable during busy periods though). We shared the special broken rice, beef in betel leaf, lemongrass and chilli fried rockling and lemongrass prawn skewers.
I only had a bit of the broken rice but it was one of the better ones I have tried - can't go wrong with a crispy pork chop (not soggy) and a sunny-yolked egg on top! The beef in betel leaf was delicious with a smoky sweetness and a slight crunch from the crispy leaves. Wrapped up in a lettuce leaf with springy vermicelli noodles, tangy pickles and some nuoc mam sauce, it was a mouthful of heaven. the prawns were similar in execution, seasoned well - I enjoyed chewing on the sweet sugarcane skewers and discarding its fibrous remains :).
The fish was fresh and the sauce had that distinct aroma of lemongrass, but it lacked in heat (easily fixed with the chopped fresh chillies provided upon asking) and was unfortunately quite oily. The batter maintained its bite even after sitting in the sauce for a while.
Service was accommodating and polite; we didn't feel rushed even as the place started filling up with chattering patrons.
A worthy contender for one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the Box Hill area!
Been here a few times now and have always been impressed by their food. The place is usually very busy and there have been times when we had to turn away as it was too busy.
The upstairs area is waitered separately to downstairs which seems to work well. This time I had the rockling fish lightly battered and stir fried with hot chilli and basil - excellently done!
Came here with a group of friends and sat upstairs. The meals are great here just like Indochine a few doors down. Would recommend this place to anyone for Vietnamese

Popped in to Tien Dat for an early dinner around 6 and the place was almost full! Interestingly mostly with Caucasian diners. So my experience of Tien Dat is purely from a vegetarian perspective. I was really impressed with the range of vegetarian options available considering the cuisine is mostly Vietnamese. I ordered vegetarian fried rice and Singapore noodles. Both were really good! They were both flavoursome and had a good variety of veggies with tofu and egg. The service was also fantastic. Being double story they have two waiters upstairs at all times which cater to a handful of tables. Prices were pretty good also. Would definitely go back again to try some of the vegetarian Vietnamese dishes!

Ordered the satay chicken vermicelli salad with the added spring rolls, and 2 servings of the pork steamed pancake.
Staff was very friendly.
Food was good, atmosphere was lively. The only issue I had was that the table was a little sticky.

I have been here before and had the bun, but this time I had Pad Thai. The restaurant is over two levels, so there's more table than it looks when you first step in the door, although upstairs can be a little noisy sometimes. Everyone at the table (I was with a group) enjoyed their food, and prices are reasonable as well.
Very enjoyable place to eat just love it here. Food is always good. Great place to grab a quick bit. Always our go to when we are in a hurry.
Food was very nice and came quickly. One of the dishes I had (I don't really remember what it was called) was very salty but all the others were great! If I had the chance, I would definitely come back! ❤️

Comfortable ambience and pretty good Vietnamese food no wonder it was so crowded on CNY day! Really enjoyed the bun vermicelli with lemongrass chicken .
Food was delicious, well presented and reasonably priced, service was okay, felt a bit nicer being there than many of the other restaurants in the area.
Line out the front when we got there(good sign). Got a table in about 15mins. Well worth the wait. Food is excellent and different to the standard Vietnamese restaurant staples.
Have been coming here quite a lot in the past year or so and I believe they definitely do the best best pho's you could find in the Eastern suburbs area, the broths are always very flavoursome and extremely tasty but definitely leaves you feeling very thirsty after each sitting.
Their buns and rice dishes are also pretty nice but if your gonna be a first timer here then definitely come here for the pho.
Nice place to go to sate your Vietnamese cravings, the food was mostly well balanced and came out in a timely fashion. The restaurant has a nice layout and is well spaced out.

A great dining experience with a large menu and plenty of choice. The shaken beef (brown butter sauce) was very tender though the tomato rice was a little too salty. We enjoyed the homemade lemonade drink and Hanoi spring rolls as well. Waitresses were attentive and the interior was nice and modern too.
I selected the restaurant based on the range of gluten free mains, however when it came to dessert there were unfortunately no suitable GF choices. The deep fried ice cream was overfried and tasted burnt, when cut into the ice cream was also mostly melted while normally it stays frozen inside.

Was nice food. We had the spring rolls with the lettuce and Noodles and mint which you roll up yourself. Then had the Ted Curry with Chicken and Roti bread. They have 2 sittings and are quite strict with seating times to have as much turnover as possible. Took a while to get served to start with. Obviously very popular. Would visit again and try another dish.
