Came here with my mrs and we ordered a serve of Fried Chicken, Poke and finished with 2 of the famous Cream Cakes. 100% worth the drive after ISO to get these cream cakes! Us over here are having withdrawal symptoms. Fried chicken was up with the best in Melbourne and the poke (well it was my mrs that ordered that and she said it was wonderful).

😱Lizzie’s first impression: Known for its neon lights extravagant interior and the amazing menu which serves up both brunch/lunch and dinner,

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: I thoroughly enjoyed going to Zero mode – it was a very fun date night spot and perfect for groups to share foods.

I came for dinner and ordered the Feed us menu which surprisingly is only $49 for 2 people. I had the tempura cauliflower which was a game changer – I’ve never had something so delicious before, it came in a thai yellow curry with shredded cheese on top. I also had some crispy pork belly baos which were made to perfection – had the perfect sauce and the pork belly was very crispy. The karaage was so special as it was crispy chicken with spicy sauce layed over a bed of fairy floss – literally the most amazing dish I’ve seen and eaten and it worked. I also tried the rendang beef which was a classic dish that I wanted to try and another winner!

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: N/A – I’ll need to come back for their breakfast menu in order to rate that.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: I loved everything about this place – the service was good, the food was bomb and the interior and atmosphere was romantic and great for date nights. I’m so glad I came all the way to Boxhill and definitely think it is bang for your buck!

Zero Mode was very tasty! Came for dinner and really enjoyed the food. The servers were super friendly and the menu was affordable. I enjoyed the cream cakes and would definitely want to come here again for brunch as their brunch menu looks delicious.

EDIT:
Went back to Zero Mode yesterday to try their fried chicken. Once again, was served by their very attentive staff. The fried chicken was steaming hot, a decent sized portion, well seasoned and super crunchy. Would definitely recommend adding this side dish to your meal.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I visited zero mode specifically to try one of the latest dessert trends in Melbourne, cream cakes.

The cake and moose filling were fluffy and sweet. The cream on top was also light, and added to the desserts sweetness, but did not make it too rich.

Initially, we ordered the chocolate cream cake. When we lifted the plastic up from the chocolate cream cake, the chocolate cream did not fall as dramatically as we expected. Slightly disappointed, we ordered the matcha cream cake and were satisfied to see the dramatic explosion of cream falling down the sides of the cake.

Overall, this was a really fun and creative dessert experience, one definitely worth experiencing! While you’re there, also check out their menu. I’ll definitely be returning to try their fried chicken.

This cafe has beeen around for sometime i believe, under the new apartment building in cafe, however I have noticed an increase in its social media presence recently.
The food here i think is executed really well, and its menu inspired by a fusion of asian and western flavours offers plenty of variety for its patrons, which sets itself apart from cafes that serve your usual eggs benedict etc.
I had the "got beef" which was simply delectable. The brisket was very soft and effortless to chew, cooked in a sauce that was tangy yet not overpowering, the orange hollondaise added a layer of sweetness and creaminess, top it off with a buttery homemade waffle and you have an amazing dish. Definitely recommend this.
I had the wagyu burger which was good, but i thought the wagyu patty was a bit dry and not fatty enough. The truffle mayo and brioche bun were otherwise really nice.
Coffee is slightly dissapointing, they use seven seed beans which i know is very good, temperature needs to be slightly hotter, and the milk to coffee ratio is slightly off because the taste of the beans did get lost in the milk.
All in all, a really nice cafe that i can see myself coming back to for the food+ worth the hype on social media currently.

Went to zero mode today to try out the famous cake and their food as well. It’s a really well-designed place. I enjoyed removing the plastic around the cake to allow the filling to spill over... however, I think this part was better than how I would rate the taste of the cake. I tried the Matcha and the bubble tea flavour.

I tried this King Salmon poke bowl. I really really liked this bowl; would definitely recommend trying it! They had the perfect amount of each ingredient. I also tried the bliss smoothie. The smoothie was a 6/10, it was lukewarm and the taste was quite bland.

Wasn't sure what to make of the dumpling dish - the flavours didn't quite work together - but everything else was great.
Kingfish carpaccio with its dressing was refreshing.
Phoenix rolls (cheeseburger springrolls) an interesting fusion, and the loaded chips bursting with flavours.

I discovered Zero Mode after moving to Box Hill a few
Months ago, and needless to say, it has become my #1 brunch choice in a 10km radius. The poke bowls and laksa are SO GOOD!!!!! Great value and delicious flavours. Staff are very friendly and coffee is yum. Don’t change a thing ✌️
