Review Soul Press - Brighton

Frederik Fierens
Very disappointed with recent experiences and especially today: - over the last couple weeks we have ordered poke bowls a couple of times via the app and at arrival we heard several times that there was no salmon anymore, and were asked if we wanted additional avocado or the poke bowl refunded. If you have limited menu, how come you run out of key ingredients that often & early? - often one of the ingredients is missing (ex last time no wasabi nuts) - today there was no ordering available via the app, so drove to the shop, ordered, paid and waited for more than 15 min when hearing once more there was no more salmon (at 12h30 already!!). So again I agreed to have just some “additional avocado”, but the 2 bowls I received were seriously underwhelming!!! They were definitely smaller than normal, barely enough avocado (let alone double portion), not near worth the 19$ paid per bowl I’ll use the 10$ credit left on the app, and afterwards you’ll have lost a recurring customer… Update: I could not even redeem the 10$ credit outstanding as ordering via the app is most of the time not available…

If you weren’t a fan of Açai bowls before, I’m almost positive Soul Press will change your mind! So far, they are the only place I have really enjoyed them, so much I travel from west to south east. They have a mission to promote awareness about the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle. The menu is full of all the good stuff, superfood bowls and smoothies, fresh pressed juices and food for the soul. There is an abundance of gluten free, dairy free, vegan and sugar free options, so something for everyone. They have around 10 different Açai bowls to choose from, all slightly different. I went with the Bliss Superfood Bowl which was topped with caramelised buckinis, strawberries, coconut chips, Choc goji, muesli and an extra addition of their natural peanut butter (no açai bowl should be without!). It was delicious, generous, perfect consistency and a pleasant combination of textures and flavours. A perfect refreshing treat for a hot summer day, take one away to the nearest beach and enjoy ☀️

The acai bowls here are the best I've had. The quality of the ingredients is always high and they offer a great range of options. I would have been here over 30 times and I've always found the service to be great.

Amazing food and service, however, I was disappointed in the high amount of waste. When sitting in, the only cups we could use were plastic ones that ended up in the bin. Surely reusable cups could be used instead, as well as reusable bowls and cutlery for those sitting in - better for the environment. Otherwise, love it.

Very disappointing. They sell you a $5 long black that is 90% water, because they make it with 1 - ONE- shot of coffee. Medium cup. I don’t think they’ve ever tasted it themselves, it’s undrinkable. I’ve made the point a few times with them, explaining that for a Medium cup you should use 2 shots at least, but they don’t change it. You still pay $5 for brown hot water. .They don’t seem to have a sense of urgency when serving a customer, and you might wait 5 min before someone takes your order. Staff has even been rude to me a couple of times, unfortunately not coming back.

They have recently moved a couple of doors down, the old place looks closed but still has soul press Signage, so don't get confused. The shop has a nice calm vibe to it, but less space and seating to the Edith Vale store, but has the same good service and menu as any other soul press store. Food is nice, though we found the Chia base has less banana and was a bit more tart than normal, when we inquired the staff said they might have differences in the amount of banana they put in the base, Edith Vale may be putting more banana in there base. I would go to Edith Vale as their base is more balanced, but this food was good as well. We went there around closing time, but staff were patient and courteous and accommodated us as long as they could, very happy with the experience.

Be careful, 8 dollars for one cup of ice long black. Same taste as other cafes, just double the price. Way too much expensive, wouldn’t pay if not ordered through phone already, and pick up in store.

I am always happy with the food at this place, there has never been an issue until Sunday when I brought 3 friends there for a takeaway lunch. I ordered 3 mexican fiesta bowls only to be told they didn't have the ingredients as they hadn't put their order in yet so I asked what they did have available. They said they had ingredients for 1 falafel, the poke bowls and the sharwarma so we ordered a mixture of 4 of these. It was very disappointing to find that all the bowls were filled half with so much rocket and a bit of quinua instead of brown rice which is very different than what I'm used to and just not edible. The toppings and sauce were nice but I could tell they were minimal compared to what I usually get. Neither of us finished their bowls and left all the rocket behind as its dry and aniseedy, sounds strange but we were all actually choking on the amount of long stringy rocket we found our selevs eating, not pleasant at all. For approx $20 each we were not happy at all!!

Rating: 4.5
Food: 4.5
Value: 4.5
Ambience: 3
Service: 5

This was the first time having an acai bowl and I was so surprised how refreshing and tasty it was. Staff were super friendly and their service is fast despite having a number of customers. This cute spot is located near the beach where you can take your dog on a walk and head to the beach with your acai bowl.

I ordered the Bowl with the Lot and for $15, it filled me up to the rim of my stomach. The purple acai on the bottom was the perfect amount of sweet, and it went so well with the sweet sour strawberries, the crispy buckinis, the mushy bliss balls and the salty yet creamy peanut butter sauce.

I definitely want to try their other dishes here in summertime, and try their shakes and other bowls as many times as I can, because there was not one bit of guilty feeling after finishing that bowl.
I have been going to Soul Press Brighton since it opened. Staff were friendly then. However this has deteriorated. Lots of inconsistencies and excuses. Missed ingredients in my orders and inconsistent approach to replacement of items. Extra cost were put through without first informing and seeking customers' permission.
Sense Of Food
The people were super friendly and the shop was really cute, but out of all the acais I’ve had, this is one of the very few I didn’t quite like as much.

I felt like there’s some weird smell to the acai blend, or bowl, or the spoon—not sure, but it kind of ruined the whole thing since I could smell it in every single spoonful....

Delicious acai bowls, I do feel that they fill the bowl up with loads of dry toppings and not much actual acai mix. However, I am looking forward to trying a vegan jackfruit taco! 😋

Bowl with the lot is my go to! Delish and you can try everything. The employees are really lovely and orders are done quite quickly. They’ve extended out back so it’s nice sit down and enjoy meal!

Ordered the Death By Cacao. Extremely small portion with barely any donut. Dipped my spoon into the bottom of the cup and it was just dry muesli. Yuck.

Such a waste of money and really disappointing to see their portion sizes are so small for how overpriced it is.

Staff usually look miserable and seemed annoyed to serve you.

Coffee always bitter and very hit or miss.

After much anticipation of trying the well talked about açai bowls, it did not fail to disappoint! Although slightly disappointed with the unfriendly greeting, the fashionable and trendy environment was a pleasant delight. With heaps of food options and big serving sizes, you will not be left hungry!

Within a matter of seconds of ordering, my bowl was ready and looked better than ever. Generous serves of toppings with a lovely thick smoothie base.

Good pricing in comparison to other places - worth paying a visit too.

I had a smoothie and found that it was too sweet. I was hoping to get a healthy tasting smoothie and it tasted as if it was filled with sugar. However, my best friend loves going there and love the ambience of the place. Very popular and sometimes can get crowded.

If vegan, gluten-free, paleo, organic, or raw is what you wish to find,
Head on down to Soul Press in Brighton, their smoothies and açai bowls will blow your mind.

I got the snicker bowl topped with a “vegan snickers slice”,
And although it tasted nothing like it’s un-vegan snickers bar counterpart, I thought it tasted pretty nice.

I’ve analysed their açai bowls a few times now and what differs them from the rest,
Is the piles of toppings and consistent quality, it simply is the best.

So if your feeling like something a little bit pricey, vegan, gluten-free, paleo, raw, organic, fancy and instagrammable locate soul press and take a seat,
Then go ahead, order a bowl with the lot, and get your camera ready, you’re in for a treat.

BEST acai bowls in Melbourne... on point with variety of Acai bowl options....friendly staff .....great atmosphere... great quick service...great value for money.... only downside... it takes me 40mins to get there (lol) but certainly worth the drive on a regular basis and good excuse to go for a stroll along the beach after this nutritional super food lunch..... LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.... ✔✔✔ing all the boxes!!!!
Was really excited to try this place so we headed down last week. Staff seemed like they really didn’t want to be there. There was rubbish on most tables and there was nothing but weird vibes inside.

Finally sat down and set up my laptop and work stuff and got comfortable only to be told that I have to order at the front counter... even though the waiter was at our table. ANYWAY!!! Had to gather up all my gear and carry it from the backyard into the front of the shop, order and then go all the way and reverse the process.

Food was good. I had the nachos and my friend had the jackfruit dish. Nachos had way too much lettuce but the flavour made up for it. And my friends dish was incredibly tasty 😋

Overall, if the staff had better attitudes then the review would have been excellent and if the staff took your order at the comfort of your own table then my review would have been a ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Came here the other day for a quick bite and had the peanut butter and honey Super Bowl. It was really tasty and surprisingly filling! Wasn’t too sweet and the flavours worked well together.

The venue is quite nice and not too crowded - I most likely will be back soon to try one of the other super bowls.

Soul Press love the beach - they have cafes at Mornington, Edithvale/Chelsea and Brighton and so they have you covered whichever beach-side town you like to visit. The nourishing açai bowls are famous here, as are the delicious smoothies - an açai bowl for mummy and a smoothie for bubba please! There are tables out the front for mums with prams and once you have finished your meal you can take a stroll on the beach - or why not grab to go?! @plantbasedmum_

I didn't really enjoy my acai, it was really sweet and didn't feel fresh. I felt like I was having a shot of sugar instead of eating something healthy and fresh!

This place is consistently good! I always get the pink goddess smoothie or one of the acai bowls and they are always delicious. The raw desserts are great too but are pricy. I probably wouldn't recommend the 'soul food' as well as it is expensive for what it is and you don't get that much per serve.
But do come here for a bowl or smoothie as they are great and they come out pretty quickly!

The food was good. The sweet bowls were amazing and recommend them highly. The snickers bar was delicious. The savoury bowls were a bit dry and needed more sauce or something to make it more flavoursome. The staff rushed us to order and didn't feel very welcoming. But the atmosphere was lovely.

I enjoyed the fullness of the bowl. However, I've had the same bowl at the Edithvale store and it was so much better.
The ladies serving were extremely rude. When I walked in, I ft like i was interrupting their conversation. They never greeted anyone who came in, and spent the whole time bitching about their co-worker
What an awful group of people
Hiheyhello
The Corn and the beans in the Mexican warrior bowl tasted like they were straight from a can. Wouldn't recommend going here unless you wanted a small snack

Delicious, but for a place which has the appearance of being sustainable, I wasn't happy to find that despite specifying we were eating in, all our food was served in plastic bowls with plastic spoons and takeaway cups, and they have no recycling bin! It would be much better to have reusable plates/bowls/cups if eating in. The waste is just not necessary!

Absolutely loved Soul Press. Was impressed with all of the flavours of smoothie bowls and the fact that they weren't just the ordinary acai. I had the death by cacao bowl and was not disappointed. It came with strawberries and choc covered goji berries, as well as a raw donut which i loved! Definitely recommend 😃

Hell yes! This place delivers... Great menu which boasts 'healthy' all natural and so good for you. Loved the selection of drinks and what I had here was just perfect... The sauce was to die for and all flavours so well balanced!
Amy
At 3:40 wasn't able to order off the menu because they close at 4.... not really sure what the point of having hours is if you restrict times within these. Was told that I should call and order ahead next time... um maybe you should just serve customers within your opening hours?

Either way I will be back for all the healthy deliciousness, however, above really ticks me off!

We're Acai obsessed but there's not many places that come even close to our love for soul press! The variety of fresh toppings, the Acai it's self and the vibe are all amazing! Their smoothies, avocado and burrito bowls are great too! We find it hard to believe you'll ever leave this place disappointed!

Best acai bowls in Melbourne!! Soul Press never disappoints. The girls that work there are lovely and the Bowl with the lot is a MUST have. I wish there was one closer to the city, but it makes the trek to Brighton worth it.

A little addicted to this place. The Acai bowls are amazing, perfect consistency of fresh ingredients, taste and crunch. The raw offerings in slices and protein balls are soooooo yum.The mint slice is heaven.Such friendly staff definitely makes my day a little happier:)

Highly recommend their juices. $9 for a juice seems like a lot but it's more of a meal than just a standard juice as it fills you up!
Love the decor, very industrial modern with a hint of vibrant colours.

Best place for an acai bowl!!!! Totally recommended, they have the most delicious toppings and a very friendly staff. Worth visiting, will definitely come back.

Acai bowl with the lot and Berry glow smoothies are a must! Also purchased two peanut butter protein balls but didn't seem to taste any peanut butter, but overall highly recommended for eat in and takeaway! :)

Wow I can't wait to come back. The 2 girls who served me 9am on Sunday were lovely. Ordered the lot acai bowl. First time trying something like this. Was so tasty and filling I can't wait for Sunday again. Also got a bliss ball for later which was the perfect balance of flavours. Very happy so come back AND TRY THERE RAW DESSERTS OMG! 😱😱😍

Being a lover of food, fitness and health, this is a place I love to stop by. Beautiful fresh, healthy juice and food. Super tasty little treats and a range of take away food and drinks to. I'll continue to come by here and fuel up. Love walking away feeling healthy and happy.

I can never resist dropping into Soul Press if I'm driving past. My favourite smoothies are the Pink Goddess and the Greens to Go. I tried the berry one once but it was super bitter so now I just stick to my 2 favs. Service is always good and the smoothies come out quick. The smoothies are always consistent in terms of taste, texture and viscosity. They're not ridiculously overpriced either. I also love the raw cakes, however sometimes the serving size is so small for the price. The Bliss Balls lack flavour when I've had them. That would be my only complaint. Besides that I'm still a soul press lover.

Service was quick and friendly!
Just went in for a pit stop because I was a little hangry, picked up their lemon slice and chocolate cake.
The chocolate cake was so rich and dense, it was amazing! If I were a chocolate lover than it definitely would have satisfied me! It certainly hit my 'I'm supposed to be eating healthily but I want to be cheeky' spot!
The lemon slice was delicious, one of the best I've had, both refined and unrefined.

Healthy good vibes and delicious....... Best acai bowls in Melbourne! Great with service and super friendly! Check this place out make sure you try a acai bowl 👌✌🏻️

Really good health bar in Hampton. The shop is really clean and nice. The juice and smoothies are really tasty. The service is always friendly. I would recommend staying clear of the food as it is a little over priced but for $9 for a smoothie having that for breakfast is well priced and very filling. I come here at least 3 times a week

This place is great! Just what the area needed - a fresh cafe approach with delicious and healthy food. The acai bowls are amazing and the staff are so welcoming and helpful.
