Best service, food and coffee. The deli is authentic European and will you not have a better experience anywhere in New Farm! I guarantee it. I come here for a beautiful Italian breakfast and takes me 30 minutes to drive but it's worth it!

We've enjoyed many scrumptious platters that we have put together from the delicious meats, cheeses, breads & olives from the deli. My favourite place for breakfast when I am in Brisbane. It was mega busy but we got a table quickly. Everything on offer is good quality, delicious and made to perfection. A wonderful place to meet up with friends and family.

I meant to visit the Savoury cafe but I changed my mind to explore this deli cafe because I have not been back for over two and a half year.
Correct me if I am wrong that itâs lay out has been refit.
The whole deli cafe was upgrade and grand. After I have checked in with my personal detail, I was led to a table inside. Initially, service was slow due to the absent-mind of the manager that the next table and mind have not been attended for a while although there are many wait-staff working on the floor. However, friendly service was resumed that compensated any unhappiness.
Ordered a flat white to go with just a plain croissant (I noticed that the cafe has its own counter serving bakery produce) with jam and butter.
Coffee came first with the Vittoria brew, which was carefully prepared by the barista. Then the plain croissant presented to the table. Visual appraisal made me very satisfy and I was sure that it was a good one with nice texture. Gut feeling proved to be true that the croissant remains its layers and crispness.
I donât mind to have that every day.

Died and gone to Italian heaven at New Farm Deli! Stocks pretty much anything youâd be able to shop for in Italy! The olive counter is sensational to say the least! Pizza and pasta is of course what they do best! Go on! Live a little! Mamma Mia!
New Farm Deli and Cafe was a very busy cafe. Although this was the case the wait for food was not long at all. The staff were very friendly, the service was good.
The food was very tasty and there is a large menu so plenty of options to choose from. Will definitely visit again to try more of the menu.
Went here for a late breakfast on a Sunday mid-morning to meet up with a friend. What a place! The lines were never-ending and we were asked to line up and order first whilst the waiter bustled around to find seats.
I ordered fresh orange juice and the 'Fumati', which was simple and delicious - crispy toast, generous portion of smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and perfect amount of capers.
Casual ambience. Think loud and bustling with excited hungry locals. Nearby delicatessen with lots of goodies. Reasonable prices. Friendly and efficient service with obviously good communication skills given the cacophony of customers and orders.
Overall, a real New Farm institution with no-fuss comfort food. Looking forward to trying the pasta options after 11am.
Omg!! This is what I miss about Sydney! All the little delicatessens with the Mediterranean mummas serving you with their wonderful italian or greek accents! Priceless!!
I have been to this cafe twice now and love it! Its busy, bustling and noisy but the staff can always find you a table.
Waiting in a queue to order can feel a bit tedious, but I think its part of the charm and they certainly get through the line as fast as they can. Its amazing how many settings they turn over. They certainly have it down to a fine art. The staff don't look harrassed or flustered, but are constantly clearing tables and directing customers.
Serving sizes are big and oh so tasty! The coffee is surprisingly very good considering the beans are Vittoria. Maybe it's the way the Italians put love into everything they do.
I had the char grilled calamari salad and the plate was overflowing and oh so delicious

Went here around lunchtime and the place was full of customers. The place was spacious. There are varieties of menu and cakes. I chose one of their pastries (not sure what it was). The staff nicely tpld me that it had ricotta for the filling. I gave it a try and it really made my day!!! It was extremely tasty!!! The pastry was crunchy. The filling was soft, creamy, fresh, and had the right level of sweetness.

Bilfranki is the heritage Queenslander house in Herston where 20-something Cindy-Lou and her somewhat older companion Jett Rink reside and it was rather noisy there after the couple returned from the landmark New Farm Deli where Cindy-Lou had been shopping while Jett enjoyed a long American black coffee in the cafe. Jett and Cindy-Lou are both fans of the full-size or American black coffee in the morning, and Jett likes to get hold of the New Farm Deli brown paper bag that the cheese, bread and olive oil are presented in, being something of a collector of such things that have names and places printed on them. The trouble that morning was Jett had a second American black coffee and the rush to his head was like gulping a triple shot of his Old Crow bourbon, and back at "Bilfranki" with his new New Farm Deli paper bag in hand, and a Montecristo cigar burning between his teeth while seated on the back balcony, he had a mischievous thought and burnt three holes through the bag with his cigar and put it over his head. Declaring "The Unknown Comic" was present, he chased a screaming Cindy-Lou about their beautiful home, skidding on the polished timber floor in his cowboy boots, the hound dog chasing too and barking, and if ever there was proof of Jett Rink's Texas good fortune this was it: Cindy-Lou jumped out of Jett's way and he flew over the back balcony and landed on the clothes line far below. A shocked and screaming Cindy-Lou ran down stairs with barking hound following and found Jett had already removed himself from the line and standing on the lawn said he'd torn his New Farm Deli paper bag and they'd have to go back for lunch to get another. Cindy-Lou hugged an apologetic Rink and sternly said: "You're off to the hospital for x-rays my little Stuffed Badger." After his release, without a scratch found, Jett and Cindy-Lou returned to the New Farm Deli for lunch where there was a lady seated in the crowded room wearing tweeds despite the warm weather. Jett politely said, "Good afternoon, m'am," to Edna Ferber, who had a monocle on and was reading the City North News: "When are they going to fix the creek over your way, Mr Rink?" "How long's a piece of string, M'am?" "Exactly. Your young lady-love there ordering at the counter should have studied hydraulic engineering rather than mechanical, then she could fix it." "But who'd look after my car?" he replied with a wink. Jett and Cindy-Lou sat down at a table by the far wall after Cindy-Lou pre-ordered two bowls of the New Farm Deli's famous spaghetti bolognese and two glasses of Sicilian red (Cindy-Lou doesn't usually drink but decided she needed one after the morning's events). "I'm just gonna to do some shopping in the deli, Cindy-Lou," said Jett. "Good," raven haired Cindy-Lou replied, and pulling a string bag from her handbag, said, "you can put your shopping in this!" "I'll order a couple of espressos on the way through." "See that you do." He kissed Cindy-Lou's cheek. "Don't buy too much, now," she said, "we're having breakfast tomorrow with Big Daddy at the Stuffed Badger."

All'amatricianna spaghetti is awesome. Loved all their sandwiches too, so many options to choose from. The atmosphere is bubbly, warming. Staff are always lovely. The place is packed from morning to afternoon... in fact i never see empty tables whenever i go! Try to leave some space for desserts....home made tiramisu!
As readers will have noted lately, I've been making an effort to get through quite a few brunch places that have made my list for some time, and I hadn't gotten to, one of which is the infamous New Farm Deli Cafe, which has been quite well established in the area, apparently long before I was even born. Having heard of how popular it is, I strategically planned an arrival at 9.45am to get in before the 10am crowd. Thankfully this paid off well with my being able to secure a table before the crowds came and so we didn't need to queue up to get a seat.

A delightful classic deli, eatery and cafe located in the New Farm shopping centre complex.Â
We ordered the Sicilian and Deli brekky and pleased with both. The Sicilian brekky is tasty, spicy and well balanced with the potatoes and oil offsetting the taste of the onion. The eggs were cooked toe perfection and overall was a pleasant tasting dish. The Deli breakfast was huge and tasted great. The potato croquettes were simply amazing and when balanced with the rather large serving size of avocado, saltier smoked salmon and well cooked eggs gave you a generous hearty meal to carry you through over the day.
The coffee was wonderful and given the decor and feel of the cafe you would be not mistaking yourself if you thought you walked into the wrong place.
The service is good and despite the crowds of people queing for a table the system works well. Pre-order and wait for a table to help reduce the wait. I don't know how they do it but you can definitely see a steady stream of dishes flowing through the kitchen.
We ordered a side sandwich of prosciutto and mozzarella to take with us, which had a hunt of pesto. That was also put in a yummy ciabatta sandwich.
Overall if you can put past the somewhat dated decor you find yourself with a good old fashioned hearty breakfast or lunch which is extremely well priced.
PS. The deli offers a wide selection of continental grocers and wines which add to the experience and feel of the establishment.
This bustling deli/cafe serves up delicious dishes at reasonable prices. The vegetable lasagna was tasty and filling. Others had the marinara and salmon salad and all were very happy with the food. Service was great considering how busy it is. We will definitely be returning!
Ordered a slice of New York cheesecake and pecan pie and they were quite good. Going to go back since they have too many choices and Iâm never good with choices.
Was in Brisbane for a friends birthday (came from Sydney) and so loved this place, so many seating areas which feels cosier straight away and great decor, and the deli and café food is delicious, they are prompt with service and I came on a busy Sunday morning and there was enough wait staff for all the people that were coming and going this particular day. Will come back one day.
Dropped in on an extremely busy Sunday to grab a fresh juice and a muffin. I was disappointed with the limited juice options - especially that you could only choose three items to make your juice. It was nice and not badly priced though. I also grabbed a muffin to take away - cranberry flavour. Not exactly a flavour I would ever choose but it was one of the best muffins I've ever had! The place was incredibly busy but I was served very quickly and my order didn't take long to be finalised. Nice spot!
We do not visit New Farm often, but took the opportunity to do so given I was attending an event at the Powerhouse (WOW â Women of the World festival, it was an amazing day!). We originally planned on eating breakfast at Honor Food Co, but that whole corner of Sydney and Brunswick Street was under construction! So we walked into New Farm Deli having no idea how good it would be.
Have been here multiple times over the last 7 years and it never disappoints. Delicious food both savoury and sweet. Always really busy so got to get in early. The deli has a great selection of things too. Highly recommended.

What a great find! Didn't notice this cafe initially since it's hidden away in the back of Methyr Village and not on the main New Farm strip, but we decided to try it after seeing it on Zomato and boy am I glad we did. :) It's a produce store + cafe + deli, serving Italian breakfasts and lunch. The kitchen is open til 4pm (woohoo!), and despite there being lots of people, service was still amazingly quick and efficient.Â
We had the bruschetta and the spaghetti alle vongole - both absolutely delicious although the spaghetti was a tad dry in my opinion. I especially liked how fresh the clams were, and the pesto and shaved parmaggiano (parmesan) was gorgeous. They have a huge menu with lots of other delicious-sounding (and reasonably priced) items, so we'll definitely be back to try others!
The only negative I found was that they only have limited breakfast items available after 11.30am, and in our case they had run out of fresh bread which was used for the majority of those... so there were pretty much only a few choices left out of the ~15 that were written on the menu. But no big deal, stuff like that happens sometimes.

Atttacted by such a busy and lively environment. The food cabinets looked amazing-nice, clean and full of food choices. I grabbed a spinach and feta pie and a hot latte. Though it was busy, my food and drink were served super fast and both about the same time.
Impressed with the food presentation and portion since I didn't expect the pie would be served with fresh salad leaves and sauce. What I liked about the pie was its generous fillings; however, the pie pastry was very dry and a bit hard, and the filling was bland. Serving the pie over the sauce somehow wasn't clever for the fact that the bottom of the pie got soggy and each customer might like or not like the sauce. For me, the sauce was way too sour no other taste and the quantity of the sauce per serve was too much-a better idea was to serve on the side. Didn't like my food but did enjoy the nice and hot latte-full of coffee flavour.

I walked through the door and instantly fell in love with the recently re-launched New Farm Deli and Cafe. Â I'm told the new space, which saw them take over a neighboring shop, is 50% larger than the original deli.
The knowledgeable staff helped to recommend some lovely cheeses and I left with 200 grams of thinly sliced Provolone and 100 grams of Veneto Salami, which I may, or may not, have eaten at the movies this morning. Every bite brought back warm memories of my grandmother's antipasti. This rated 4.5.
The Almond Croissant was lovely and rated a 4.
I was over the moon with joy when I discovered that they import my favorite pickles, Vlasic Original Dill, in one gallon jars.
I expect to return soon, perhaps as early as tomorrow and will update this review as I eat my way through the store. Hopefully I'll be able to get into the Cafe as well - there was a waiting line this morning.

Now here's something of a turn-up: we've had to travel to Brisbane to find a first class Italian deli. Better coffee than the surrounding hipster cafes and delicious pasta dishes along with a great cake selection. Edit: back a year later and it's better than ever. Blows away all the trendy hipster nonsense that surrounds it.
This place has been around for ages and the coffee is always awesome and strong- gives a great caffeine hit! Very busy big service is always friendly and quick. We don't eat here often as its a tad expensive but it looks very fresh, tasty and flavoursome. Also has a good selection of yum pre made meals etc in The fridges to take home for Nights you don't feel like cooking.
Excellent food and great atmosphere. Slightly let down by the staff member who served us who looked like she thought she was really doing us a favour but otherwise good.

Perfect. Simple food done beautifully. I stopped here for a quick lunch with my husband, not only is the food delicious ( I had minestrone soup and he had bruschetta) but the staff are so warm and welcoming. Had to stop by the deli after and pick up some cheese, was buying pecorino for the first time and the deli staff were able to suggest which one would best suit the meal I was cooking.
This is my absolute favourite local cafe. Any day of the week this place is amazing. The staff are friendly. The food always looks great. And don't even get me started on the portion sizes, they're super generous.

Incredible pasta! It's fresh, authentic and flavourful. The price is reasonable too and the service is always great. I always get the fettuccine with Parmesan cheese and mushrooms, and I have never been disappointed - it always is on point.

Just go and try the pasta - it is delicious. New Farm Deli is always busy, but the service handled the bustling lunch hours well (we went twice!). The simple pasta and meatballs is great, and the crab lasagna deserves special mention.

Absolutely fabulous place - one of a kind in Australia. I go here alot. The owners Vince and Maria have owned it about 20 years I think. They seem to work in the store nearly every day. This is why the staff and the food stays good. If you want to have great, authentic italian food, cooked fresh and tasty this is it. Forget poorly done pasta meals - think top ingredients and genuine italian recipes, plus a great deli as well. I lived in Melb for ten years until 2 years ago. There is only one place in Melb like this one and I'm keeping it a secret :)
The coffee is also excellent, and cakes fresh. Don't just sit down though. The tradition is to queue, order, pay and get assigned a table.
Always delish. At the deli today we had the most amazing meals...spinach & ricotta ravioli cooked in pumpkin sauce and prawns and the delicious green pea & leg ham soup...yummm, yummm! Staff are friendly and helpful... Our favourite place always!

Great .. but. Great meals and atmosphere but the coffee could do with improvement. The long black I had this morning was very sharp.
Generally the meals here are great. However, I recently had the Di Pisa spaghetti. Â I can't recommend it. Â It was, by far, the worst prawn pasta I've ever had, and just generally very unpleasant. Â Surprising because I usually enjoy saffron dishes. Â There are other marinara dishes that are better choices.

Fantastic. My family has been coming here for years and years. It isn't so much as noisy but rather bustling which is the charm - the food has always been great value for money and for us as a family it is an economical way of going out for a meal together and catching up with family conversation - the lost art of talking to each other - I don't want it to be to precious as that would not be the warmth - I love the fact they have very stable staff - some faces have been there a while in hospitality terms and that speaks volumes in that the owners (new and original who are back) run a family business and care about what they offer up to the paying customers. Keep it up!
Good food! I have been coming here on and off for many years. It is always busy and noisy and there is a queue to order. Having said that I have never been let down by the food, which is good, simple Mediterranean inspired fare.

Very busy, waiter found us a table and within 5 min we had placed our order. Poached eggs perfect, smoked bacon, sliced thin and cooked so good. The lightly roasted tomato was a bonus. This is a simple b/fast dish and they do it well from the minute you walk into the cafe.
Original owners are back, yay!. NFD, used to be the place to go, for good coffee, good food and a great deli...way before cafes and deli's became hip and more common place. Then the original owners sold and sadly, but what happens all too often is slowly NFD went down hill. The strong, rich coffee disappeared, the food got average, the service bad. However last year, the original owners bought it back. And straight from the horses mouth, told me...it broke their hearts to see the place going down hill and having old local customers tell them how bad it had got. So they did what many original business owners do, and bought it back! Yay, certain things immediately changed, the service improved, the food quality came back, the coffee got better. And it continues to improve. The only down side of that? Is that it has got crazy busy again. Sometimes at lunch it is impossible to find a table. But that has 'got' to be a sign of it being on track to it's true self again. yay!
Great food - came out incredibly quickly. Friendly and efficient service. The Deli Stack was delicious. Coffee was good, vittoria which I'm not the biggest fan of but it was made well. Highly recommend it.
Maria and Vince are back!. I used to go to the new farm deli years ago when it was owned by Maria and Vince but found that when they sold the business the food, deli and service all went down hill. I read on urban spoon that Maria and Vince were once again running the deli so popped in to see if it was true! The deli, service and food are all back in fine form. We were greated at the door by a friendly staff member who promptly found us a table and put a reserved sign on it so we could go to the counter and order without losing our table. My partner and I both ordered pastas which arrived at out table within ten minutes of ordering. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the flavours were fresh and not over powering. It's so nice to see the deli back in fine form, I'll be returning more frequently and would advise making a booking to avoid missing out.
Wonderful menu - have tried a bit of everything over the past couple of months and nothing's let me down. Had boscaiola with spaghetti today - HEAVEN! My other half is hooked on the calamari salad - beautiful! The service really couldn't be any better, arrived at 12.40, were given a table straight away & had our meals at 12.55 - exactly what you need for a quick lunch during the week. There's no other Italian deli/cafe quiet like it in Brisbane!

âDeliâcious. With the original owners back to running this place, we found the pasta was delicious and their deli full of high quality meats, cheeses, olives and Italian products. Perusing the deli after lunch was an interesting way to finish off our adventure at New Farm Deli.
It had been a Saturday at lunch time when my partner and I showed up at to experience everything they had to offer at New Farm Deli. It was a beautiful afternoon so we decided on sitting outside at one of the many table s for two. Although out the front of this location is a parking lot, the hedges between the patio and the lot made it feel more private.
We had to go in to order and it was quite chaotic! Not sure where the line up even started and trying to read the menu items up on the wall, we felt like we were caught in a mass crowd slowly shuffling forward until there seemed to be some sort of organization.
When we made it to the counter, it was the ownerâs wife who took our order. She and Vince were the original owners but had sold it 7 years ago. Around the beginning of 2012, they had bought it back to run it the way they thought it should be. I know this from talking to Vince earlier in the year. They are both so nice and dedicated to serving up authentic, high quality Italian cuisine.
Step 1 in ordering is choosing the pasta: Spaghetti, fettuccini, rigatoni, gnocchi or risotto. Step 2 is choosing your sauce which had quite a range in ingredients.
I chose the Fettuccini Boscaiola ($16.50) which contains bacon, mushroom and shallots in a creamy sauce. My partner ordered the Fettuccini Pisa ($18.50) because it had prawns. We gave our table number and went back outside.
It certainly was a busy place! People were constantly coming in and out of the deli which had a separate door although you could still get into it from the restaurant. We also noticed a fairly steady stream of diners. This place was hopping!
Our meals arrived and they smelled tremendous! They were a pretty good size and it all looked delicious! The person who brought out our food did not ask if we would like ground pepper or fresh parmesan which is too bad as I enjoy these two flavours.
The sauce on mine was rich and creamy and nicely coated the fettuccine without smothering it. The bacon was thinly sliced and expertly cooked to a slight crispiness. The shallots and mushrooms rounded off the entire dish and gave a nice balance of distinct flavours in every bite! Exceptional!
My partnerâs meal contained 5 â 6 large prawns and had an intense flavour followed by some heat in that there was some chili in it! For those who like something spicy, this is a fantastic dish to try!
When we were done, our plates looked like they could have been put back in the cupboard! Although we were pleased with our meals, we did notice one person making a complaint about his salad. Straining to overhear any juicy details, sadly we were unable to. We also saw that the woman, who had sat at the table beside us, left almost half of her sandwich behind. Not sure if she was just a food waster or if she genuinely didnât like it. Too bad, because everything we saw come out looked quite good.
Eager to try more, my partner went in to order some goodies. What appeared next was a long black ($3) for me, two Greek Shortbread biscuits ($3.50 each) and a Chocolate Flourless Cake ($5) for my partner.
Having been exposed to a lot of different coffees in my life, Iâm not exactly sure what this long black was. It was extremely strong, with heavy burnt and bitter notes to it. In that I donât like to use sugar or cream, I drank it the way it was, but it was too strong for me. Not one Iâll be ordering again. The biscuits werenât all that flavourful or exciting. And as for the chocolate cake, it wasnât very chocolaty at all which was a disappointment to my partner who is addicted to high quality chocolate! It was unfortunate as our meals were spectacular!
Not to let this get us down, we thought weâd check out the deli before leaving. Again there was a constant line-up of people who were quickly served by the efficient staff flying around behind the counter! Although there were lots of items to look at on the shelves (pasta, jarred goods, bread, etc), the main attraction was behind the glass: The cheeses and meats!
My partner and I got in line and eventually made it to the front. A woman who looked a bit frazzled and slightly stressed helped us and we noticed that the staff on this side werenât quite as friendly as the ones on the restaurant side. I would look this way too if I had a constant bombardment of customers without a moment to breathe! We ordered some cheese and a couple of types of meat and watched with amazement at how perfectly she sliced our sausages!
Overall, my partner and I were quite happy with our experience! I know the coffee and dessert wasnât to our liking, but that doesnât mean that it wasnât good quality. I would definitely come back to New Farm Deli, for both their pasta and wonderful deli!
