Review Mr & Mrs G Riverbar - Brisbane

Adarsh Verma
Came here after friends graduation and had lunch comprising of steak burgers, kum pao nao cocktail, fries and chicken salad. Had a wonderful time here with the group. Beautiful place, wonderful ambiance, great hosting and great food. Would definately recommend the place for lunch and brunch dates and occassions.

Loved the great seating outside and undercover with fabulous views of the river and story bridge. It was such a relaxing and fun vibe. We received such lovely service and the wine list had such great choices.

Our recent visit to Jade Buddha was very welcoming. They had strict covid-19 controls and patrons were always requested to remain seated. Good music, standard drink options and prices were fair. The place welcomes patrons from all age groups although above 40's are lesser than the 20's and 30's. Still a great place to hangout for all ages. The best view to story bridge comes from Shadow Lounge above, however its a smoko area so be vary of it. The interiors are well done. The bartenders are friendly and help you with drinks out of the list as well. It was good to see dress code was maintained to smart casual. I went for drinks so I am not aware of menu range for eats. Its open till late on weekends and does not stop to amaze you with its aura. Dont lean on the bartender table they are bit stick due to spillovers :-)

Such a lovely afternoon, beautiful views and a wonderful breeze off the river. Food was fantastic! Our party had the fish and chips, beef burger and chicken burger. All meal came out to the table quickly and tasted great! Good portion sizes too, the fries serving would easily feed 2! Great service! Will definitely be back!

Great place to go for some social drinks, happy hour most evenings 4-6pm, half price schooners, cheap basics and cocktails. Upstairs on a weekend night has awesome vibes, comfy couches and tables to relax with a group or just 2. Relaxed environment with kicked back music. The staff are also well trained and provide quality customer service. The range of products is well stocked, great coktail and draught range in particular.

Where do I start, No napkins No cutlery Waited over an hour for food to arrive when they were not even busy The bowl of hot chips for the child came out after and hour and finally the other meals arrived about 15mins later. Table was sticky and hadn’t been cleaned properly The food was cold when it finally arrived, I’ve never had to cut rice with a knife before. We’ve dined here before with the same terrible service, should have learnt the first time.

Had a nice dinner out with my friends at Jade Buddha. The curry dish was absolutely yummy but the fish and chips dish was below average (fish was bland and chips were not crunchy). The service was friendly and attentive. I know it’s a bar but it would have been nice to have better lighting at dinner time so we could read the menu and see our food better :)

Such a great place for a Friday drinks.

Mr and Mrs G’s location and layout it just phenomenal, and the food is consistently good. We had a larger group for lunch, it took a while for the waiter to come to our table and it was about 25 minutes before we ordered. Unfortunately the waiter got our orders incorrect, we had 4 orders of halloumi and 3 of lamb. When the food came out the waiter brought 5 orders of lamb and 2 orders of halloumi. I’m not quite sure how that happened, we were happy enough to take the meals because we know the food is good and were hungry.
We split the bill, and when I got back to the office realised I had been incorrectly charged, only by 50c but still incorrect. A friend who was also at lunch was also incorrectly charged. Overall excellent food and atmosphere, not so excellent service.

Had a really fun time here! Atmosphere was amazing and food was just as good. The chef made made a vegan meal especially for the table (requested beforehand) which was super yummy. The cocktail jug we got was super delicious also. Staff were lovely, my friends and I just had a really great time here. Would definitely go back!

A great snacky drinks place very casual and right on the river. Had a few drinks and a light lunch and were not disappointed by the food. Not intimate but enjoyable.

Fantastic spot for drinks with a view. Was packed on a Friday but service was super fast and friendly. The hostess got us a great table pretty fast and close to the river area so we had a great view. Aircon was pumping and drinks came out fast. I can’t believe I’ve never been here before. I’m already thinking of Friday just to come here for another cocktail.

what a wonderful little stop we had here last week. we were dressed in walking shoes and clothes so worried a bit about going in but hubby said let's do it. Happily we felt welcomed anyway. we got to sit by the window (fab views) and enjoy a drink and some tapas. Service was very good, and efficient. Our anti pasto plate for 2 ($28) had delicious little bites, and was more filling than we had expected - nice It felt a bit naughty going out early on a weeknight when we had no intention of doing so but what a great little stopover. It is a comfortable space with armchairs to relax in. I would love to hang out here again soon.

So an old friend pops into work for a quick bite & I'm thinking 'nearby' and 'yummo' and voila: Mr & Mrs G's it is!

The 'super lunch combos' are damn fine value – meal and a drink for $19.50. It was the spiced lamb salad for me and cheese & bacon burger for my dining buddy. Mine was fresh, generous and full of flavour whereas my friend found hers mostly good…but with a side of stodgy dryness. You win some you lose some. She wasn't too phased.

Service was bang on - I dropped my knife on the floor & was instantly presented with another before I could even turn my head.

Considering it feels like being in a luxe open fishbowl with a look-at-me vibe and prime riverfront position, this place is actually pretty chilled and very friendly. No-one batted an eyelid at our occasional OTT exclamations and laughter.

The river views through the full length windows are STUNNING and well worth a visit, particularly at night - always an impressive pre-dinner drink option.

All-in-all a good experience and will return again soon.

Very relaxed atmosphere. The staff created my own cocktail based on my favourite flavours. Very friendly staff and a beautiful view. A nice selection of nibbles too

Really enjoyed their quality wine and antipasto platter! Everything on their antipasto platter was delicious... and the cheese to die for! Had the Vinteloper Shiraz/Malbec wine. 👍👍 All good value and a nice quiet place for chatting with friends or a cute date.

Myself and 12 others came to Mr & Mrs G Riverbar after dinner at George's Paragon Seafood Restaurant. It was around 9:15pm and we were looking for a place to have a tea and coffee at (with some very tired children). We came across Mr & Mrs G Riverbar walking alongside the Brisbane River and went inside. The space is on the smaller side but at this time of night there were only a few other patrons in. We ordered a round of teas and coffees, with a piece of almond shortbread on the side which came out rather quickly and tasted quite nice. The staff were very friendly and very accommodating for a big group at a late time of night.

We ventured out on a sunday afternoon for a relaxing drink with a view, as we had walked past on many occasions and always commented that we should try it, we decided too.
I must say the atmosphere with the live music was exceptional, we where lucky to get a small table for two with the wonderful view of the story bridge.
We ordered a share plate antipesto, a peroni and i must say one of the most amazing cocktails i have tasted, the "organic moment".
The staff in the small area they work in are true professionals and do a amazing job.
Cold beer, tasty cocktails and great fresh food is a perfect combination for a relaxing drink, with the bonus of live music.
Any one looking for a great venue for a catch up or even that once off special date location will be hard pressed to go past this amazing spot.
We were told to sit and have a few drinks while they found us a table. A table which never came available! Staff would ignore us. Really poor customer service, extremely bad first impression of Brisbane.

Excellent service good food good harbor views. Loved it

Rude Rude Rude. I have never felt such a cold welcoming in a Brisbane Bar. It is disgraceful to know that customer service exists like this on Eagle Street Pier. When my friends and I were approached by security in such a rude manner questioning not only our birth dates but creditable of our identification, I expected the wait staff to make up for this rudeness. This unfortunately was not the case, when I mentioned it to the wait staff he mocked my comment and failed to apologise. Which lead my friends and myself to leave, this is not acceptable and reading through previous reviews this seems to be a re-occurring issue. I will definitely not recommend this place to anyone I know.

Not as good. Organised our work Xmas drinks as on a previous visit I was impressed.
Unfortunately service was not as good snooty waiter who did not really want to be there other waiter pleasant and helpful . We just felt they did not want us there. Shame

Cool little spot, great views, the service was good, we had Greek meatballs and scallops, both amazing dishes, we has a second serving of meatballs!

Great place for a quiet drink with efficient and friendly staff but the high light would definitely have to be the amazing view.

Smooth Cocktails. Brilliant Wednesday night cocktails with a group of international visitors, it was too busy to get a front table but all enjoyed the view non the less from the back of the bar, best and well balances cocktails I've had in Brisbane for awhile. We didn't get passed the cocktails however & as it's been awhile since I've eaten at the G's will save it for next time.

Cocktails!. Luca is a great waiter, the Breakfast Martini tasty, the Triple Malt Fashioned was incredible, the pulled pork sandwich needed much more pork, and the cheese plate was very nice (though needed more crackers). So it's a bit of a mixed bag really, but I enjoyed my time there.

Very professional. Wandered in on a Saturday afternoon, very friendly but professional staff. A couple of wines and some share plates - no complaints about anything. We'll be back

Quality on the river. Myself and my partner have frequented Mr & Mrs G Riverbar a few times in the past month. Quick cocktails with friends after a hard day, before we go out for dinner, or a sneaky cocktail after a day of shopping in the city. We are always greeted with a smile, the cocktails are always classic, tasty and when we want something different, the staff are always happy to accommodate any request we have made. Yes it can be busy, but you cant expect anything else, when you have a gorgeous view and a place that is popular with everyone. Happy to wait, sit and enjoy the view.

Fantastic view, stylish vibe and delicious cocktails. A perfect first stop if you're making your way down the waterfront before or after dinner.
Agree it is on the pricier side but wrll worth it for the view and the vibe on a warm evening. I highly recommend the Water Lily cocktail.

Good Cocktails :). Great little bar with such a great view. Bit pricey but worth it for the different cocktails they serve. Haven't tried the food but all looked lovely. Service was so quick and it was really nice to have table service in a bar (I guess that is what you are paying for!)

One Person Can Change It All. My fiance and I came in on Friday looking for a place for our wedding reception. We came in for a couple drinks, and were greeted as soon as we walked through the door. We chose to sit at the bar seeing not many tables were available, this was our biggest mistake.
You would think sitting right in front of the bartender you would get the best service, that wasn't the case. The bartender 'Matt' was so engrossed in making cocktails he didn't once look up to take our order or acknowledge our presence.
After having a good 20 minutes to decide what we were having, he finally took our order. He talked about the cocktails we had chosen in so much depth, I tuned out after 5 minutes. Clearly he was passionate about cocktails so we thought we were going to get quality drinks, especially for $18. When we got our cocktails, they tasted anything but what he described or what was written on the list. Slightly ironic, because he claimed to have written the cocktail list himself. I could only bare two sips and still had to pay $18 for the drink!
The guy was too concerned with putting on a circus act that he forgot what it meant to 'tend the bar'. You would think someone that had been in the industry for however long would know what his job title meant.
After the cocktails, we ended up leaving $36 poorer. My fiance and I didn't even discuss whether we liked the place, the view clearly can't compensate the lack of service. Im sure if we chose to sit squashed in the corner by the window we still would have gotten better service from one of the younger staff.

Just goes to show.. one person can ruin the entire experience.

This place has one of the most gorgeous spots in Brisbane, awesome atmosphere and beautiful view. I went here for cocktails with my partner, they were innovative and amazing, well worth the money unlike many other cocktail bars.

More For Less. Considering some of the nearby venues this little 'cocktail bar' which operates more like a cafe leaves a lot to be desired. Service was slow and whilst welcoming and friendly upon finding a seat we were very much left to our own devices after the first round. Being a regular at various other bars in the CBD and a fond cocktail goer I was also disappointed by the quality of the drinks, I ordered a treacle and got some smokey flavoured concotion and the old fashioned was watery to say to least, selection of whisky wasn't too bad but the level of service did not justify the high prices. Food was not great either, very basic and again overpriced relative to the accompanying service. I will be more than happy to sacrifice the view for the experience and service that comes with some of the more secluded and out of the way haunts in the CBD.

Dropped into this stylish waterfront bar on Friday evening. What an incredible vantage point , as the sun went down and the Story Bridge came out it was a beautiful place to be. Delicious share food, imaginative cocktails
galour and a comprhensive wine list. G o at the right time. (Before 6 and after 7.30) to get a front row seat

Exceptional! Down to the last drop of wine!. I have managed a few restaurants in my time..and this is impressive. I went to Mr and Mrs G today for a quiet drink with my wife. With all the tables full and only two staff members working, I didn't expect much. It was clear that both staff members had their hands full so I thought we would be in for a long wait.

From the moment we walked in we were looked after. Our cocktails arrived in record time, almost as if we were the only ones dining in the bar. The waitress was extremely attentive to all our needs and even made time to have a chat about our day.

The drinks and food were absolute perfection. Service was impeccable, both my wife and i didn't have to lift a finger!

I would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cosy spot for a drink. Although prices are a little steep, the service and quality of product is worth it.

I am still amazed by the level of service considering the bar was full. Never in my time have I seen staff so friendly and attentive. My wife and I will definitely be back!

Good spot, bad service. This was the 2nd time we have visited this bar which is in a great spot, especially if you are planning a night in Eagle Street.

However the drinks are massively over priced compared to bars in the immediate vicinity and also the service is awful. When we arrived, there were 6-7 staff on and probably only 20 customers yet we had to wait 20 minutes to be served for our first drink and then had to find a waiter each time we wanted to get another round.

If you want to charge prices like these then you need to have the service to match.

This place has a great atmosphere, and the decor is wonderful with dim lighting and couches scattered throughout. The view is to die for, you cannot get any closer to the Brisbane river without getting wet! The only downside is that the drinks are ridiculously expensive (around $20 for a house wine and a soft drink). We did not eat here, by the prices of the drinks we're glad we didn't. Ducked over the pathway to Nagomi for an outstanding dinner

Gorgeous!. Love this place, it has the best position on the Eagle St Pier and has a lovely interior... The waitress that served us was French and so friendly what an awesome spot to spend a Friday for after work drinks! Will definitely be back!

Mr and Mrs G has breathed new life into the food and wine scene in Brisbane. Marcia & Andy Georges are the owners of the river bar and Il Centro restaurant which ensures this bar will have a bright and vibrant future. The decore is vibrant and colorful which matches the laid back vibe of the place. The food on offer is share plates with an Italian theme, they also have an extensive wine list. We ordered the chili and garlic prawns, grilled scallops with pea puree and pancetta and the charcuterie plate and a bottle of Charles Heidsiek 2000. The garlic prawns were of average/small size but perfectly cooked and is always a good match with garlic. The grilled scallops were also of average size, perfectly cooked and a good match with the pea puree but the pancetta was somewhat overpowering. The pancetta made the dish too salty, but you can easily take this off. The chartucerie plate offered a selection of salami's, pickled vegetables and other

...The Burrow
from the outside it’s an inconspicuous little hide out …
the only giveaway being the irresistibly cute bunny rabbit squashed under a rolling pin!
and it’s just risen to the top of my favourite ‘hang out spots’

down with extreme nose allergy … so I shan’t rant too much today!

The place was jumping on a Friday night with a predominantly corporate crowd (as to be expected). I’m fairly confident the bar will continue to pack them in as long as the impressive and extensive beverage menus are maintained and the equally impressive and extensive river vistas remain unimpeded.
A Matter Of Taste
Plan for the weekend was simple: let’s find the best cocktail place in Brisbane. Our requirements were also incomplex: comfy seating, music in the background not too loud, so we could have an actual conversation, long and diverse list of cocktails...
