Review Il Verde - Brisbane

Calamari here is DEEEELICIOUS and yeah must order 100%, some of the best I’ve had no joke. Pastas were good and I really enjoyed the drinks. Amaretto sour was deliciously balanced.
Restaurant Logics
We visited Il Verde on a Thursday night. It was the quietest restaurant on the street, though we found it warm and welcoming. Upon entry we had our choice of tables, we chose an area that was nice and quiet with a clear view of the kitchen and restaurant. The whole venue was clean and uncluttered and we enjoyed prompt service from both our waiters The drinks list was very generic, which accommodates every taste though we felt it lacked personality, especially compared to the rest of the menu. The specials weren’t made obvious to us and the board was mostly hidden from sight. We noticed it after ordering and wished the waiter had brought our attention to it sooner. The menu had a variety of mostly traditional Italian dishes, with a good amount of entrees, mains and sides. We ordered the cured meats platter, the risotto and the orecchiette.. We asked for our entrees and mains together and our request was met promptly, which would be expected given the amount of people in the restaurant. The cured meats platter had a good selection, served at a perfect temperature and came with garnish salad as well as warm garlic flatbread. The orecchiette was cooked well, the sauce clung well to the pasta while being full of flavour, balanced, and not overwhelming. We ordered the risotto specifically as it is a sign of the kitchen staff skill set, and we were not disappointed! The rice was perfectly cooked, and the flavours were again very pleasant without being over or under seasoned. Drawbacks of the venue was the decor, the handwritten menu above the pass, which was unnecessary, non legible and occupied a wide space which could be used for better marketing purposes. For an unscheduled, unbooked dinner, we felt very much welcome and enjoyed our evening. The bill was very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food, highly recommend this venue for delicious pasta dishes, and will be trying the pizzas next time!

What an incredible restaurant. The staff are so lovely, the food was just mind-blowing and the dessert with so so good. This is one of the best pizzas we have ever had.

A piece of Italian jewel in Brisbane. Very delicious food, excellent service, and great atmosphere. Love the little peperoncini oil on the table.

Really enjoyed the meal here with my family, we tried a bit of everything. Creamy pastas, tomato based pastas and pizzas, I even ordered a salad for good measure. Food was great, staff couldn’t understand English but I guess it adds to the charm.

I personally don’t fancy Italian food much, but I think everyone should give Il Verde a try. I was definitely impressed. My partner and I loved the food, the ambience, the service and prices were not too bad at all. We ended up ordering 4 items as there were so many options we wanted to try! Pizza was so soft but crisp and satisfying with every bite! Food was fresh and rich and full of flavour. We’ll be back👌

So impressed with this restaurant, the staff remembered our entire tables order without writing it down. The cured meats were amazing, the pizza I ordered is hands down one of the best pizzas I’ve had in my life. Worth every cent for the food and the atmosphere and experience. It is a little bit pricey but it’s so worth it. We also came on the cheese wheel night without realising and my god, the best pasta I’ve ever had. Recommend this restaurant very highly

Lovely relaxed resturaunt. I came here tonight with my best friend for the $45 cheese wheel deal! We were seated at a lovely table under the flowers (as we requested). Out waitress bought over some welcome drinks. Cute little melon cocktails. The timing was excellent, didn't have to wait long at all. Entree was out nice and quick. Wine came out before our main meal which kept us happy. As a waitress and bartender I observe service when I dine out. I wouldn't give less than 5 stars to this resturaunt becuase the food was delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful and the service was loooveeely! I will be recommending this place to my friends and family.. A little side note; staff were very friendly.. though, there could have been more enthusiasm/excitement whilst explaining the origins of the cheesewheel. Chef was super friendly and excited, just waitress needed a little bit more happiness/excitement. I also find it important for wait staff to check in with how the meal is going. Thank you so much for your wonderful experience.. I'll be back soon!

We have had the Bresaola Pizza a few times, not cheap at about $26:00, great flavours, good to share. We caught up with friends for a wine & a small bite, the Piatto Di Antipasto is excellent value at $21, you will find much more sophisticated platters around but this one is good value for money. The platter includes a plate of Focaccia (which alone is $10), we also shared Calmari Fritti $14. It was plenty of food for an afternoon of grazing and a few wines. I think there was a issue with the beer on tap, our friends are not craft beer people, but this was the only disappointment. The tables outside were perfect for a sunny winter day.

I always highly recommend this place to all I cross paths with. Exceptional customer service, food is amazing and Renato makes the best cocktails.

Sitting arrangement was not the best, the toilet was far away and staff were not prepared for us. In last minute they were setting up the table. It looked like Totally forgot about the booking, guests who arrived standing on the entrance way. As there was no table. If you have do Any booking make you meet the manager and set up exactly what you want. And proper discussion what you want. Phone consultation is not enough. Food: was Amazing and huge size for mains it was very filling. Wine: was to die for.. Absolutely delishes. Service: was prompt and helpfull. However when asked to take photos there seemed to have miscommunication. Nobodies head was visible in the photos. Hence, all put together it was good. There room for improvement. The best part of this experience I am glad I was with my caring partner and friends, that created great experience really.

Great food and excellent service. Impromptu birthday celebrations and a sparkler provided on request. Great for a longish lunch. Not too hurried but not too long to wait. Well worth braving the heat of Brisbane. WE sat outside and it was breezy enough to keep us comfortable.

Tuesday Cheesy wheel night what a great night out. Everything was superb from the cocktail, entree, cheesy wheel to the dessert and the service was so friendly. It is a great place to go for a group. My new fave restaurant

Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. I had the tomato and mozzarella salad and mushroom arancini. Great flavour, presentation and texture. One thing needs improving is the number of menus. We were given food menus to start with (5 for 6 people), when the waiter came back she asked for our drink order. We then discovered that there was one small drink menu in the middle of the table for all to share.

Visited yesterday, on a Sunday. Had the antipasto platter, entree calamari and rocket/parmesan salad between two people. Bottle of the Totara Pinot Noir. Great flavours and very friendly staff. The company I work for will eventually move into the building across the road and I cant wait to come back and try a pasta for lunch some day.

Just had THE most delicious meal. The Staff were all very friendly, helpful and dedicated to ensuring we were all enjoying our dining experience. The Cheese Wheel was amazing with a huge serve (and enough left for lunch tomorrow). Add the tasty starters, drinks and a devine Panna Cotta to finish...definitely got our money's worth. Thank you to all the Staff. Will definitely be back

We are here last Saturday night 9th June before going on to the Tivoli . We had a fabulous meal , perfectly cooked and served as we sat at the bar area . The service was excellent , the food perfectly cooked and we will definitely go back to eat here .

Went here with the partner for a weekend lunch. We ordered the Orecchiette and the Mushroom Gnocchi. The orecchiette was delicious and homely, with good bites of sausage meat and crispy prosciutto. The gnocchi was fine, but missing the depth of flavour and textural element. Service was friendly and efficient. Casual ambience with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Reasonable prices. Overall, a good Italian lunch option.

Good food & attentive service

We visited this restaurant with a large group of friends for a function. Even though it was a busy Saturday night, the meals came out quickly and the service was efficient and friendly. The food was good and we were very happy with the wine that we ordered.

Went for Sunday lunch with the family. Service was great - friendly and accomodating. Menu I thought was a bit limited (pasta dishes) but I was happy with my choice of the mushroom gnocchi. Beautiful little potato pillows - soft and fluffy, covered in a tasty mushroom sauce. My partner couldn't stop raving about his chicken and potatoes with ailoi. My sons spaghetti was disappointing - miles too much chilli to the point where he ended up with tears in his eyes. But he managed to contain the heat with some tasty gelato(dark choc and orange..yum). My raspberry panacotta could have done with some accompaniments eg. Raspberries, cream etc but nice enough as was my partner's tiramisu. I would return to sample some more gnocchi....mmmmmmmmm!

Dined here for Valentines Day. We opt for the $45/pp 3 course meal and it was delicious! Couldn’t fault it. The chef that cooked our pasta on cheese wheel was so lovely. Only downside was the service of the waitresses. They didn’t make conversation with us and felt like they didn’t enjoy their job. Very hard to get their attention also.

Really solid Italian food served here in a vibrant Restaurant. Love what’s building here at Kings Street. Restaurant was full on a Wednesday night too which is always a good sign. The Orecchiette pasta was a great choice 👌🏼

Had a Mother's Day lunch yesterday and found the production & services were both consistently good. Antipasto platter was as good as last time; particularly the grilled pumpkins were so sweet and refreshing. Risotto also was the same as the antipasto platter, it was just the same as last time that deserved thumb-up. We changed the order of deboned chicken to the Orecchiette (not offered in Mothers' Day menu). It was creamy with crunchy element of crispy prosciutto that deserved another thumb-up. The only comment was those disturbing visitors (flies) that just so distressing. Having said that the distressing was compensated with table-show of preparation of "linguine with pesto" ordered by the next table, which was very interesting and we definitely will return for this dish soon.

Had a Sunday lunch at this restaurant with Entertainment Card's deal yesterday. Ambience was good and I discovered that it is a family Sunday gathering place around the area. Ordered a platter of Antipasto to share between us + another two mains of Grilled Deboned Chicken and Seafood risotto. When the entrée came to the table, we were shocked of its generous portions with three each types of cheese, Italian cured meat and chargrilled vegetable + extra plates of house made bread. Honestly, it was the first time that I had such delicious haloumi, so soft and tasteful. Deboned chicken was perfectly grilled with nice juicy texture, mixed with the beetroot puree and chargrilled onions are the perfect match. Hero should be my favourite risotto dish. Three large clams sitting on the top that was already added marks. The prawns, scallops and small clams shimmered with the rices and delicious sauces that made me no regret to come for the exploration. In addition, I have to thank for the friendly waitress's service. Overall, it was a nice and decent experience and this restaurant deserves recommendation.

Amazing gnocchi with truffle !
And also the pizza with prawn as well.
Very tasty .
I have coming two times between a month with my overseas friends , they both love it .

Friendly and prompt staff. Safe to say, best gnocchi in town, highly recommend. Amazing outdoor/indoor areas for larger groups. Stunning bar area where you can enjoy a glass of wine whilst waiting for your table. Would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Polite and well attentive service. Gnocchi soft and delicious. Will be back with more people. $70 for 2 was very reasonable priced. Wish I had room for dessert

My partner & I went to il verde for dinner for the first time & loved it. Prawns were cooked to perfection, pizza crust was nice & crispy. Service was excellent.

Il Verde is one of a number of eateries that has opened in the restaurant precinct created at King Street in Bowen Hills. While we tend to not go to Italian places because we figure we can make pretty passable pasta and pizza ourselves, when a friend suggested going for the Cheese Wheel Pasta at Il Verde, once we had found out what it was, we could not resist.

I was so tempted to order pasta and try their orecchiette or even gnocchi, but just because I have not had risotto for a very long time, I just had to try their 'Risotto Frutti Di Mare'. The seafood risotto was perfect for me, the rice just soft and al dente enough with flavour all absorbed... Yum! The prawns, calamari and clams were all cooked well. The Mr even agreed it was spectacular.

My partner and I went for the pasta wheel night - it was worth the money. We had a lovely time, the food was beautiful (we loved the pannacotta) and the staff were super lovely. Especially the chef who served us our pasta. Thanks for a nice night, can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu.

We had a table of 4 and tried the cheese wheel menu, the four cheese gnocchi and the Italian sausage pasta (not sure of the proper name) it was amazing!! The food was great value and truly delicious. I was pleasantly surprised that the menu was affordable and of great quality. The cheese wheel menu was great value only $45 for a welcome cocktail, entree, main with wine and a dessert. Impeccable service, very friendly staff. Definitely recommend you must try this restaurant if you are in Brisbane - New favourite restaurant!

Busy Friday night and we called to check they had a table- we arrived 30 mins later and were seated outside under a frame of greenery. Staff are so accommodating and friendly. Prices are very reasonable for the top quality food and drink on offer. We started with a red and glass of bubbles. Entrees were mushroom arancini and calamari- generous and well presented. Mains were both risotto- mine was seafood and my companion had pancetta. Another bubbles and a frangelico on ice. Too full for dessert but there was tiramisu, cannoli, Pana cotta and gelato on the menu. We will return- great experience!

Went to IL VERDE for a Sunday lunch with friends.
Initial thoughts - Nice place, great decor, cool relaxed vibe for a lunch and not to expensive.
The waiter was nice although she did forget my order and had to came back to ask what I ordered. I am always a bit iffy when they don’t write it down as it isn’t easy to remember everyones order at the table.
All food was tasty and presented well. I would re visit.

Iron Fist recently went to Il Verde for a birthday celebration and since going he hasn't been able to stop talking to me about their food, especially the cheese wheel, which they serve every Tuesday and Thursday. With that in mind, I went with two girlfriends last Thursday to celebrate the imminent arrival of Friday. Given the popularity of the cheese wheel, we made a point to book in advance, which turned out to be a good choice, as the place was completely booked out and turned down several walk in groups that evening.

Had a friend's birthday and was extremely surprised by King St's transformation and Il Verde served up great authentic Italian food along with a nice vibe and excellent service!

Went for the 4course Cheese wheel pasta! Absolutely loved it big portion of delicious pasta and dessert Panna cotta was to die for. Staff were friendly and entertaining. Would definitely recommend!!!

Nice ambience with live music, service from wait staff was exceptional. A bit pricey ($22-$26 for mains) but the quality makes up for it. Took well over an hour for food to come out but we were a large group of friends and as such didn't mind - perhaps might be faster for smaller groups. Recommended. Paurush Kuntal

We went for the cheese wheel night on a Tuesday and were surprised how busy it was. We'd recently seen a Gordon Ramsay episode and smiled at what he'd say about serving the food on wheels. Overall it was a novel experience to watch, though we weren't given the option of pasta type as stated online. The antipasto was a bit unnecessary as there was just so much pasta, but they do give you the option to take leftovers home. The amount of cheese was amazing - there can never be too much cheese. If we came back, we'd probably try some other dishes.

We came here on a Friday night for a birthday dinner with family as we had seen and heard good things from friends on Instagram. It seems word travels fast because it was SO busy!! Good on you guys for doing so well, but it made it really difficult to talk to one another and we ended up yelling down the table to be heard. The live band was lovely, but just added to the noise! And to make matters worse they had crammed too many tables into the space and the birthday boy and all family members along one side of the table were getting bumped by staff and patrons all night. The food was reasonably priced, around half the table liked their meals and the other half said theirs was 'alright'. The lights started flickering too, I think this nice little restaurant was just too busy for the staff, kitchen & space to handle.

I loved this place took my partner here for his birthday it was an amazing experience and staff were friendly even sang happy birthday for him thanks so much

We have been looking for a nice Italian restaurant for some time so booked it for my birthday dinner. The food was fantastic! My partner & I didn't know what to order for mains so we asked the waitress for her recommendation not only for the food but the wine as well. Everything was perfect! There were 7 of us & everyone enjoyed their starters & meals. We will definitely be coming back for the cheese wheel night!

Very good. Food was really well priced at about $25 a head for pasta and wine was quite reasonable. Just over $100 for two people. Good size portions. Friendly staff and whilst it was a Saturday night and quite busy we were in and gone within 2 hours Really like the open feel of the kitchen. Overall I really enjoyed it. It's not 5 star but I'm grateful to have something like this in the area. Can't wait to try their pizzas.
PaulaMc
Solid if unremarkable. Food was good, very good in particular for the pizza, the atmosphere and vibe is lovely. Service was iffy on a busy-ish Saturday night. While the staff were charming, getting food and drinks out was a little ad hoc, with a couple of mistakes with orders and cocktails in particular not well made. Overall, though, worth a visit.

So I can finally cross the cheese wheel pasta of the list! ✔️Booked myself and my partner for the Pasta Cheese Wheel (only available on Tuesdays & Thursdays)

The restaurant had a nice ambience with plant decors I don't remember much as I was too busy getting excited about the cheese wheel on the trolley near by. $45 pp

Me and my partner got seated on the second table from the corner. Sat down, waiter asked if we're doing the wheel pasta, answered yes. (Wish they had explained the process or what to expect) cocktail comes out then entrees comes out seriously within 5 minutes of sitting-garlic flat bread and polenta(enjoyed the chips) we finished the entrees and plates were removed and the waiter offered us a wine either red or white. Few minutes later the trolley comes out and they cook the pasta then and there - I thought that was cool, a good experience overall. Flavours was good and the service was excellent however they've asked my partner to hop of his chair so the trolley could come thru to serve us and then serve the customers next to us. (While we were having dessert) anyways we were quite understand as there's not much room.

First visited this restaurant when it opened. I really enjoyed my dining experience at il verde and keen to try the Parmesan wheel pasta soon! Portion size was generous and service was lovely.

Had the gnocchi pomodoro and was delicious, great portion and amazing sauce. Good quality food here so recommend it. Sometimes parking can be tricky as its in a busy spot.

Fantastic dinner and service. We went to King St because I'd seen the posts on Instagram and expected it to be pumping but this was really the only place worth visiting. That said, it was fantastic. The arancini was delicious. We couldn't decide between the wild mushroom and saffron with fontina so got both. I was surprised to find I preceded the saffron.

For the main meals, the serving sizes weren't very big and I would have preferred the salmon if it had come with some green or other fresh vegetables. Next time I'll order a side. The quality was superb and the salmon was lightly cooked (let them know if you want it cooked all the way through). The dessert menu didn't inspire me so I had the gelato which turned out to be a great choice. The staff were friendly and we look forward to returning.

Our first visit to this very good Italian restaurant. Attentive service in pleasant well appointed venue decor wise. Food was well presented and delicious. Prices average for this inner city location. Well worth trying . We will book next time as even mid week was busy.
Brad Coombs
Awesome food and service at an affordable price. The creamy pastas are to die for and as good as any I've had in Brisbane. Great option along King Street for lunch or dinner.

I love bargains, who doesn't?
Il Verde does this amazing deal on Tuesday and Thursday for $45. What comes with it? An entree, a main, a dessert and 2 drinks (1 drink with the entree and a choice of wine or beer with main).
Now before we talk about the main which comes with this deal, let's stop and talk about everything else. The staff is friendly and checks up on you to see if everything is ok (which I like). The atmosphere is amazing! We went during a night where they had live music; making the experience much more enjoyable. Also it's located not too far from RNA Showgrounds and... doughnut time next to Alfred & Constance hehehe.
Okay now back to the food! The main dish which comes with this stealer of a meal deal is served from a cheese wheel! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. It's what cheese lovers dreams are made of. It's incredibly cheesy. Those who are not so into cheese - you have been warned. The entree and dessert were delicious too. If you're planning on giving it a try, I would recommend booking in advance as it does get busy.

Enjoy my cheesy friends

Came here with a small group. We shared some entrees which were all pretty nice and all really enjoyed our mains which were full of flavour.

The staff were nice however it was very obvious that they wanted to hurry us along and get us out as soon as possible. Our booking was at 8 - I would rather have come in earlier but this was all they had availble. They had packed up almost everything around us while we were eating mains, and after finishing our mains the bill was dropped on our table straight away.

Having worked in restaurants I can sympathize but their website says the kitchen closes at 9.30 and our order was in a good hour before this Perhaps don't take bookings that late if you don't want the customers there.

Would go back for the food which was really good, but the feeling of being rushed out let the place down a little.

Australia Day I tried Il Verde for the first time with a friend visiting from out of town. I'd heard good things about the cheese wheel and couldn't wait to try it. Our booking was for 6.30 and there were a few other people there but it definitely wasn't busy. Our waitress explained there was a $45 special which included three courses with two drinks which I thought was great value. We had already ordered a bottle of wine but went with the special anyway. First course was polenta chips and a focaccia style pizza bread, both crunchy and tasty. Second course was the cheese wheel which is rolled over to the table by the chef who was so lovely and personable. He talked to us about the cheese, answered our questions and really made the whole thing an entertaining experience rather than just serving us a plate of yummy food. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the creamy cheese sauce with cracked pepper was the perfect balance of flavour for me, not too overpowering and a generous serve. It was plated up in front of us with crispy pancetta on top. Absolutely loved it. Dessert was a passionfruit panna cotta which was tasty but I was too full to eat it all. The whole meal was really good value for money and the rest of the menu looks just as appealing, I look forward to trying some of their other dishes. The restaurant is in King Street so is off the main drag which is appealing in itself, lovely breeze on such a muggy night. Live music was great and the service was spot on. I couldn't eat all my pasta so our waitress packaged it up and brought it out for me to take home and actually brought out a whole second serving to takeaway with us which was a lovely surprise. Will definitely go back!

I've come here a few times now since its opening in the new precinct.
A good selection of food options. Chef is really passionate about his food and staff mirror that with their service.
A friend and I were really excited about trying a place in the new King Street precinct but left feeling ripped off and disappointed. We walked in and were greeted by friendly staff who sat us outside, which was nice. It took a while to get our orders taken but once we did the food came promptly. For starters we ordered the polenta fries which weren’t like any others I’d had before, they were thin and quite crunchy rather than fat and full of creamy polenta, but the flavour was nice. We also shared the calamari which was awful (and highly overpriced considering the serving size); it was too battered and just tasted like reused deep fryer oil. For my main I got the calzone di manzo which was okay. The dough was really nice but the filling was a little bland and it could have done with more cheese. My friend got the steak which he said was great in some parts and tough and gristly in others. After our meals we thought maybe some cannoli would make the meal a little more enjoyable but they were really second-rate. The cannoli shells tasted quite stale and as though they were out of a bag and the cream filling was really lumpy. I really like the venue here and the wait staff were nice (with the exception of one waitress) but I really don’t think I’ll be going here again, we left sorely let down.

Went for the 'Take the Wheel' night and had a really great experience! The food was delicious and the service was friendly. My favourite part was the beautiful modern, open plan outside dining area with plenty of space between tables. It was perfect for a casual but romantic dinner date, and I imagine it would be just as good for a group. Definitely a breath of fresh air from some stuffy/pretentious restaurants that seem to over populate Brisbane.
Rebecca
Disappointing overall. The lamb was the standout dish, but the sides that came with it weren't very good. I will admit I don't eat a lot of Italian but places like this are probably why
Marjan Jones
Tasty food. Small serves. Friendly staff.
Quite a few mistakes (big group).
My green beans were not the best.
Polenta chips yummy.
Seafood risotto was amazing.
Buffalo mozerella was small and overpriced.
Lovely ambience.
A beautiful little restaurant on the brand new King Street. The space itself is ambient and really enjoyable to dine in. We enjoyed the menu offering and were really happy with the the suggestions we received from staff. We ordered the polenta chips, spaghetti con gamberetti, risotto con saliccia & tallegio and the prosciutto funghi pizza. The pizza was a particular standout. Looking forward to another visit down the track.

Had lunch today. Food was great and cheap. If you question these prices then you don't get out much. Food made with love. Service was great and very attentive.

Cuisine not really Italian but Lebanese. Very expensive for the quality of the dishes. Poor choice of Italian wines. Pasta with prawn end cheese ??!!what???!!...
Only just got in with my late booking for Saturday night. They were turning away walk-ins. We were at the front outside - lots of outside tables and it was bit blowy but a nice ambience. Food was really great. Pizza the best I've had in a long time - thin and crisp with not too much topping. I selected Pizza after finding out the gnocchi was not house made. I don't think that's up to par for an Italian restaurant. Arancini was polenta based rather than rice but was delicious. The teens enjoyed the Spag Bol and Calzone. Service was very polite but a bit inattentive at times. Had to wait to order while our waitress had a long chat in Italian to the person at the next table. She missed asking for drinks orders and we had to request when we finally got to order dinner. Otherwise it was OK. Didn't get to dessert but I'm guessing it is good. Everything is reasonably priced - we will be back. Hope the other restaurants in the area open soon to give more of a vibe to King st.
