Review Le Bon Choix - Brisbane

A.J Cooper
I promised to myself that before I start my diet I would treat myself a beautiful 1 piece of cupcake😃 and here it is. Not only 1 but 2. They are perfect, not too sweet, and just melt in your mouth..

Best cakes in Brisbane. Delivers Everytime. Exciting flavours. Latte was mediocre...

You will enjoy the the pastries and macaroons here. Attitudes of some serving you is less than desirable. Coffee is okay, made way too hot!

I was here for brunch with a friend. The service was reasonably quick but the food was absolutely exceptional! The flavours, the textures, the technique in the food. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area!

Large range of options for a dessert and/or bakery. Macarons, desserts, sandwiches and pastries as well as an interesting range of drinks (orange tea, spicy chai tea) as well as the normal hot/ice chocolate, coffees, teas and juices. All quite cheap for the appearance and/or size of the items. Came here will my mum to get some lunch desserts and a drink. Staff were very friendly, quick and patient. We got the Pate A Choux (Chocolate & Hazelnut) and Amaliyah (Indulgent combination of Coconut, Cherry & Rose) accompanied by a hot chocolate and a soy mocha. They were all delicious and very filling. Personally I preferred to eat the Pate A Choux with a mix of everything as there was a lot of chocolate. The Amaliyah was preferable to eat in parts at a time as it allowed me to taste the flavours as opposed to being unsure about which flavour I was tasting.

Great selection of pastries! The beef pie is quite nice (if a little on the sweet side for a meat pie). Iced coffee is good too. Oddly they asked if I wanted salad I said no but they still gave me a lettuce leaf with my pie 🤷🏻. Not complaining because it was kinda nice but I just don't know if that is the salad and they just ask for no reason or if there is a more substantial salad they include if you want but give you a leaf of lettuce regardless...?

Lovely cafe. I come here to just have a coffee and cake and read in the afternoon from time to time.

Omg this place is a must, if you have not already visited. Friendly staff Amazing selection of delicious treats Coffee was very nice Quick service

After lunching in the City, Phuong Tran and I are seeking Dessert and Coffee. The cafes around Eagle Street are very quiet so we keep walking until we reach Le Bon Choix.

I ask for a Cafe Latte and a Bamboleo dessert. Wait staff are cheery and service is fast. The Coffee is served hot and is full flavoured while this Mango, Passionfruit and Banana dessert is refreshing and delicious. Thank you guys!

I ordered takeaway from here early in the morning and bought a cappuccino and a ham & cheese croissant. It was plenty busy with a lot of people ordering and waiting for pickup but it only took a few minutes for my drink and a few more for my meal.

Despite the beautiful layout and heavenly designed cakes in the city the food is reasonably priced and less expensive than what you would usually pay. The croissant was heavy on the cheese and spices and very delicious.

Love the quality of their cakes! Amazing

Le Bon Choix Queen Street was spacious, offering both inside and outside seatings. It has a glass case right beside the cashier that displays all the visually appetizing cakes.

For the sweets, I ordered the Eclair, Tiramisu, and Miroula. All of them looks pretty and tasted great; it had the right amount of sweetness. However, the cakes did leave a heavy aftertaste, which was rather unpleasant.

For the savoury, I tried the Mushroom Quiche and the Beef Meat Pie. Both had great texture; the crunchy and flaky outer layer, yet easy to cut. Taste-wise, they were okay, but not overwhelmingly amazing.

Overall, a nice place to have quick bites and nicely decorated cakes. Might come back in the future to try out other menus offered.

This is the most Devine cafe filled with some many yummy sweets ! They have the freshest croissants and pastries - so delicious and large in size too ! They have fresh, beautiful looking cakes in both large and mini sizes. So convenient to have the mini cakes for those who don't want a large one and instead of getting someone a muffin they can have an actual miniature cake to themselves. They also provide a Happy Birthday chocolate edible sign for $5 extra and give your cake in a cute little box. They also sell delicious macaroons - in a variety of colours and flavours.

We highly recommend this place for sweets or cakes or just a little sweet snack :)

Busy place. Had to wait a while for water and dessert to be served. Desserts were not too sweet which is good. Price was a little on the high end but worth it. Looking forward to try almond croissant next as it looks good!
Emilie Klitdal
I’ve read and heard so much about the almond croissants and have been looking forward to try it myself. Ordered it with an iced chocolate. I was expecting an authentic French croissant with allll the layers. Was disappointed to receive a sturdy pastry. It tasted okay, but the consistency wasn’t up to mark. The iced chocolate was decent.
Brandon Chan
Good friendly service. Not a crazy amount of selections but the quality is super good. Great for morning brunch or a perk me up otw to work meal. The breads may look hard on the outside but are extremely crunchy and soft on the inside
Sarah Shirt
Overpriced and not that original. I had a lot better in South East Asia. Needs to lift their game and quality quite a bit. The pastries are burnt and the sweets taste of sugar overload and don't even think about getting a coffee as it tastes like it is burnt. Wish I would have spent the money at McDonalds it would have been a better investment in higher quality food.

We ordered a pain au chocolat, 1 croque monsieur and 1 almond croissant. They were not over price. But the croque monsieur was pre-made and reheated. So it was sooo hard and it shouldn’t taste like this. Almond croissant was not bad, too sweet for me. But my boyfriend loved it - typical French. And the pain au chocolat was okay. It’s a chain in Brisbane I realized later. For those who really want to experience some French atmosphere they can visit here as the outside area made you feel like in Paris. But the food.....

Seen so many photo of their lovely looking cakes, I finally got to try them! So many different varieties to choose from. Got the Uli (lemon & pistachio), the Amaliya (coconut, cherry & rose), and an almond croissant. The 2 cakes were ok, a bit dense, would've prefer more light & airy. The almond croissant though was devine! It was pretty big, it was sweet, but not overly rich, not buttery. Crunchy outside, fluffy underneath. Will definitely came back to try some more.
_kreativecakes
Excellent customer service. Not only did we get a service with a smile she also spoke french. The coffee here was very nice. Not too milky. Most baristas get it wrong but this one got it right. Its always nice to wait here for your coffee. The selection to drool over is amazing.
Dina Lobo
By far the best strawberry tart I’ve had, ever. Excellent customer service and I didn’t have to wait. The woman behind the counter helped me with choosing my order. She was very friendly. I’d definitely visit again to try some of the other pastries.
Crystal Ka
I'm not a big sweet tooth, but the popularity of this place through word of mouth speaks for itself. The macarons are lovely, but I've only tried two of the small cakes they have - all decent, you should definitely give it a try if you've got a sweet tooth.

On our way to the dentist we passed this place and we made a note to check it after. What surprised me was even the dentist we saw that day recommended going over to Le Bon Choix. When a dentist recommends sinking your pearly whites into sugar you know it’s going to be worth destroying your teeth over.

As we walked in the door we were hit with a visual delight of the most beautiful pastries. There were so many good looking pastries I felt guilty not being able to buy them all.

We chose 3 nice looking pastries, a couple of chocolate style ones and a citrus fruity one.

My wife made us wait as we walked them to a park before we could eat them (yes Hell has a new level torment).

I kid you not, the first mouthful of these pastries you will start speaking french even if you never studied it in high school.

Sacre Bleau

C’est magnificent! Je veux manger plus!

The pastries are a little pricey but when you eat them you will find a way to sell the shirt off your back in order to buy more.

If you are hanging out in the Brisbane CBD near Eagle Street then definitely go here and get your French pastry on!
BrisbanEats
Sweets are amazing. Clean bright place to visit. Great location under tree in middle of city. Staff always seem under trained. Often stressed and forgetting orders. Culture of staff seems unhelpful though adds to experience...you have to put up with this to get access to the amazing pastries!! Coffee pretty good.
Lifelovetravelfood
I have dropped in here, and other Le Bon Choix outlets, a number of times and am still waiting to be disappointed. It is not cheap but you get what you pay for and what you pay for is seriously good. The macarons are delicious, the way they should be made, with wonderful flavour combinations.

The cakes are AMAZING. The two I've tried have been absolutely wonderful and make me want to try every single flavour. I would love to try to savoury options and all the individual little sweets and pastries because everything is gorgeous. YUM!
Cino's Mum
On a pilgrimage to find a transportable yet fully beautiful & delicious cake to pre-purchase for a significant birthday which fell on Good Friday public holiday...Le Bon Choix delivers a miracle. Lemon meringue be thy name. Not too tart, not too sweet, creamy meringue peaks and plates licked clean.
Lady Bacon
What a beautiful looking shopfront. We were greeted I'm French which was a nice touch.

Ordered and out choices cane out quickly. A jam donut and Jupiter.

They were both delicious washed down with a short espresso.

I would definitely recommend for dessert.
Good Food Good Mood
Was in Queensland for work this week and revisited an old haunt, my favourite cake place from when I used to live in the sunny state. These cakes used to grace every office birthday and occasion but this was my first time dining in. We tried a few of the swoon worthy individual cakes full of deliciously different textures including mousses and jellies. A lovely atmosphere inside and plenty of decadent delights to chose from. It really is Brisbane’s answer to Zumbo and is very much on par with Australia’s dessert kings offerings
Rose Shipton
A lovely little cafe in a relaxing part of the CBD. Whilst the coffee is not amazing (but it is still decent), that's not really why I go there. The quiches are delicious - great pastry! The cakes and assorted desserts are to die for. I get my occassion cakes here for family and friends and they are always loved. I strongly recommend the strawberry tart.
Paola Costa
Great food and great coffee. Had a chicken sandwich and it was really good and huge, could have saved it for dinner. Only disappointed with the so famous donut, too sweet for taste. But overall really good experience.
Shahnaz
tried their latte and two macaroon flavors; pistachio and caramel hazelnut, I really liked it, and the service was friendly. The place was cozy and quiet, I would defo go back for a cup of coffee every now and then.
Rachel Lim
Upon entering this bakery, it felt like we were stepping out of Australia into France. We were greeted warmly in French and the bakery imitates the cafes in Paris with its elegant black and white decor. From dainty cakes to golden brown pastries, Le Bon Choix is every dessert lover's heaven. Settled for a Bamboleo (mango mousse, passionfruit and banana jelly) and Miroula (chocolate macadamia and crème brûlée centre). It was a good combination as the Bamboleo has an acidic refreshing aftertaste that cuts through the richness of the Miroula. The cakes had made my day, so stop by and have your fix of pure indulgence!
Thefoodie
Decided to try their infamous almond croissant, what a letdown. It was too oily and heavy for my liking. Also tried the lemon meringue tart which was described 'tangy'. The verdict? Another disappointment. I was expecting a good zesty lemon taste but it was overly sweet, it desperately needs some zing to balance the sweetness of the meringue. The only impressive thing was the presentation. I got the jam donut as a takeaway, heavy dough with way too much sugar on the outside. To be honest, Krispy Kreme makes a better jam donut. This place is simply overrated.
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
A colleague and I stopped into Le Bon Choix this morning and I walked out with a box of Almond Croissants (for Lady Meatball and to share with the office) and Pain Au Chocolat (for Mini Meatball and to share with the office) as well as a full cream Latte.

The Almond Croissants and Pain Au Chocolate were great and bought me quite a bit of goodwill in the office. Both baked goods rated a 4. The coffee was also surprisingly good - it too rated a 4.

At this stage, I think this store has overtaken the Racecourse Road (Ascot) location due to its size, quantity and variety of products offered.

Le Bon Choix remains a favorite of the Meatballs family - especially if we can't get to New Farm for the Almond Croissants at Chouquette.

*****
June 2016

We hit Le Bon Choix every couple months because my wife absolutely loves the almond croissants. My daughter likes the Pain Au Chocolat and I like to pick up a baguette or boule to bring home. Coffee is pretty good as well. I rate the Hamilton location slightly higher for ambiance.

Amazing. Fantastic pastries, tarts, and desserts. Wonderful breads. Best ham and cheese croissants we've ever had - recommend bringing them home when you have guests and putting them in the oven. Great coffee, great atmosphere. Can't recommend enough. Very disappointed that you have to pre order a brioche loaf we were told. It's so popular you'd think you would have then in stock!!
Cassie Dean
Amazing cakes. I have no words to describe exactly how decadent they are. Creative flavours so the more adventurous you are feeling the more you will get from the experience.
Lauren
The tuna foccacia is surprisingly good and the caramel doughnuts are also winners. However, such slow and inefficient service even for basic orders I cannot bring myself to come here again. I've been a regular customer but am sick of waiting 10+ mins for someone to put a pre-made sandwich into a box and take my money. There seems to be only one or two people who take the orders, ring them up, and make up the food. Countless other staff appear from the back room only to do one task, look at the long queue of people waiting to order, and then disappear again. The coffee is also very average. Finally, they always run out of the popular sandwiches very early in the CBD lunchbreak - why not make a few more if you are always having to tell people you've run out at 1:15pm? And the irritating $10 EFTPOS minimum that insisted on - especially when the sandwiches are all around $9.90 - is the final straw. Sorry LBC - I'm done.

In my opinion the mocha that i had here is by far the best mocha i have ever had.
Vanilla donut and tuna focaccia are a must try.

Customer service could have been better. Good sunday morning breakfast option!

The overall atmosphere of this restaurant is very comfy and clean, I like it very much. I ordered a pie, cake and an almond croissant. The pie and cake is really nice but I found the almond croissant is too sweet. Definitely a dessert shop I'll recommend and this will be a great dating spot!!

Friendly staff but Not as I expected and hygiene is below average. However only go there for dessert not their bakery!
Manimik
Good cafe in Brisbane. They have variety of delicious cake and coffee. The sittings are also nice, can enjoy outside under the big tree in Brisbane or can relax inside. Service is also fast and good.
Joanna
Loved this place. Staff very attentive and desserts awesome. First place I've found almond pastries. Yumo!! The coffee is pretty good as well.
Lambo Blair
Amazing array of cakes and pastries, deciding on what to have is always a great difficulty! Today I had the salted caramel eclair and also some macarons.
Laura
A really nice environment and a great place for cakes :) They all look beautiful. The service was also lovely. The Bamboleo is my absolute favourite.

-07/05/16

Cakes, croissant and Macaron are perfect, but the drinks are very normal. We took away some back to Sydney, highly recommended. Btw, the garden outside is pretty

Ordered take away for a few different cakes today. We had white chocolate moose and salted caramel eclair. The Chocolate macaron tasted so sensitive and the moose melted in my mouth. It truly made my day. The moose matched perfectly with the fruits on the bottom of the cake. I will buy the white moose one again! Salted caramel had too much salt flavor, I wasn't a huge fan of that one.
Rebecca
Cute little patisserie in the Brisbane CBD. Nothing too special but a great arrange of cute cakes and treats. The service was hit and miss with mine being served in a box and everyone else's on a plate.
Nadia
Finally found this place after my friend bought me the almond croissant, which I bought once again because it tasted so good with perfect amount of almond slices and vanilla glaze on top of it. They also have wide selection of gourmet cakes and macaroons.
Jordan.lynch
The almond croissant and caramel donuts here are absolutely divine. Cannot fault them. Buttery, creamy, flaky pastry, perfect dough. My ultimate treat! Do yourself a favour and buy two😊
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
Really friendly and nice service here. Order at the counter and they will bring it out to you. I had the Apple Danish & Mocha. The pastry is so flaky and crisp. Large slices of apple and tasted great. Coffee was nice but seems overpriced. I also had a Pain Au Chocolat to takeaway and eat on hotel balcony. It was so fluffy and delicious as well.
Sarah Ralph
Just perfect.
Friendly staff, amazing coffee. A wonderful little gem in Brisbane CBD. Cakes are wonderful as are the sandwiches. Great service.
WeAreHungry
Really different deserts with a lot of personality! My partner and I just loves it! The chocolate croassaint its divine. If you want to try something really special try Le Bon Choix.
Youn
Friendly staff, really delicious cake and good coffee. Not too sweet and just perfect. This is my new favourite spot, and I am planning to try all the other cakes soon :)
Justin Brown
The custard filled cinnamon coated donuts are out of this world. Delicious, hand baked every morning, with a touch of Paris; yhe service is magnifique. The coffee is also one of the best I've had in Brissy.
Dan
Fantastic place for tea ! It was very difficult for us to decide what to eat cos all of them look awesome. Finally we ordered two cakes and tea. The cake was fulfilled by various of layers which were perfect matches with each other. Very good service and nice atmosphere. Will definitely come back!
AteToooMuch
Perfect place to find a high-end dessert, cake or treat. Especially great for a gift!

Food is always top notch, delicate and made with finesse. It's on the expensive side, but well worth it. They have also just opened a store at Garden City, so for all those south siders out there, definitely worth a try!
Rachel Sheppard
Almond croissants and the vanilla custard filled doughnuts are what keep me coming back. Always fast service and high quality food. Very classy Parisian style cafe
Wati
Very disappointed. Not as good as it once was. Chocolate eclair used sub-standard chocolate and was just tasteless. Chocolate flourless tea cake crumbled everywhere when cut. Very noticeable that owners are skimping on quality and using cheap ingredients. Only saving grace is the beautiful tree and seating outside. Never going back. Jocelyn's Provisions off James Street and Doggett Street 1000 times better than this lot.
Mark W
I had gone to Le Bon Choix for the past ten years but hadn't for the past year or so. I can only imagine they have changed hands given the lack of French speaking staff and now you get 'other' staff, I was beginning to think I was in a nail salon. I was prepared to look past that until I tried the eclair. It tasted of nothing and for the cost that is disgusting. It almost smacks of new owners looking to cut. I.e quality, flavor and costs. The dead giveaway was the cheap and tacky asian flower decoration on the eclair. This just feeds into Australian attitudes to the 'Asian bakery' so please don't go down this path like all of the others that have been bought up around Brisbane. Surely we expect more for the price and if you can't do this bring back the French owners who have a little taste and class. My only suggestion is to sell up and open a Vietnamese bakery when I know what to expect.
Tastes Like Regret
Had a quick look at all the delicious foods that were on display. Cute little cakes, doughnuts, paninis, sandwiches, and at least five different types of croissants. The panini was really good. Very nice dainty desserts and drinks. No regrets. Lovely.
Kokaiwen
Pastries are still decent although otherwise going steadily down hill due to slow and inefficient service. Expect to wait up to 20 mins for a coffee.
Almighty Tee
Great Coffee - will be coming back for more!. Stopped by for coffee with a friend and the coffee was amazing. Definitely coming back with the girls next time :)
ChrisEats
Coffee Game Strong - Quality Bris CBD weekend coffee. CBD dwellers looking for a quality weekend coffee should give Le Bon Choix a look. Le Bon Choix is worth a visit all week for coffee and desserts.
Tattafromau
Frequent visitor. I would say "ex" frequent visitor . Service is getting worse and in line with a lot of other CBd cafés and restaurants . We had to wait for our coffees for 30 minutes! Two coffees only one of them is a basic long black . Danish was quite rubbery to . Very disappointing :( used to love this place!
Willstar
They've done a great job of creating a very French cafe in Brisbane.
Indoor and outdoor seating, it's clean and bright.
Good range of French fare: bread/ pastries/ macaroons etc. by far the best croissant in town.
Coffee is good (Di Bella) and service friendly.
For a take home treat you cannot go past the cinnamon sugared almonds!!! Oh la la!!
Le Bon Choix is well away from the retail precinct - worth the walk.
Vivian Thelander
Very French. Didn't entirely understand lady behind counter for her thick French accent :). Having visited Paris recently, it reminded us of the Paul franchises there. Enjoyed the range and approach.

Yum yum yum

Shocking coffee. Every. Single. Time. Really. Cakes are awesome though...as always.
Alex
Lovely. I have been buying their cakes for many years now and they never fail to impress. It's also a great place for coffee & cake (seriously, the single serves are worth it just for the presentation alone - an exquisite miniature version, much nicer than your standard slice you'd get elsewhere), the staff are friendly, the decor luxurious yet cosy, and the pastries to die for (must try the almond croissant!)
Just great!
David Hanlin
Good coffee and good value for a quick eat stop
C
Tres Bon. Excellent coffee and cakes. Took home some for later too. Delicious
Stylish21
Love the food, but the service is so extremely slow (at the cashier, when preparing and when serving). Since two years I have been going and it has not changed at all.
Big minus, must improve that to be perfect.
Foodieinheels
A little bit of Paris. Love the macarons, mini desserts and custard donuts here, the cafe really does remind me of Paris. Not cheap but well worth it.
Facebook User
Love their cake!!!!!. I totally love their cake since I been their with a friend for afternoon tea couple years ago.All selection of cake are die for! I always get their cake for special occasion , love love love it.
Solestim
Yummy!. I've tried ALL the desserts and they are ALL delicious here! Pricey of course but it reflects well in the taste, presentation and appearance. Also, buy a cake! They are to die for - had one made and picked up for a friend's baby shower (the cake version of the pink dessert with the coconut on top) and it was DIVINE! Can't go past their little olive dinner rolls which I sometimes buy to eat with soup.
HJSoon
Macaroons are awesome and I love the variety...

Check it out the staff are awesome!
Susanna Je
The only place (so far) that has made me say 'Bonjour' and 'Ooh la la' both in one sentence. Need a cake for a special occasion? Want a delicious light meal? Or just craving quality french patisserie (as I do all.the.time.)? The photos speak for themselves so I won't waste any more words. You just HAVE TO check this place out!
Upsydaisy
Very nice almond croissant. Service and atmosphere was rather mediocre. Hope to visit again for another selection from the pastry or sandwich menu, might try take away option and enjoy the food at my own apartment next time
Katrina Anson
My first time at the city store and although the food is still amaze the service and atmosphere isnt as great. Staff arent rude but arent overly friendly and inside dining is plain and feels like a foodcourt. Sitting outside tho right in the city is gorgous! Probably the only place in brisbane u can get good macarons too! Yum
Jenny Betts
The coffee and the food cannot be faulted, which makes the poor service at both Brisbane venues all the more disappointing. In my experience the fault generally lies with management when bad service is so rife in a business. In both Ascot and Brisbane city stores, staff look at waiting customers and walk straight past them, choosing to do other things like gossip or clear tables. A simple "hello", or "I'll be with you in a minute" would suffice. As I said, this behaviour is across the board, so it must come from the top. Are the staff too unhappy to be friendly?? It's a service industry! Serve!! Please please prioritise service with a smile, we love the food but we're starting to dread going to Le Bon Choix.
Sarah Shiels
My family and I have been going to Le Bon Choix ever since they started out at Albany Creek. Now we have a unit in the city we always go a have coffee and cake and have bought many birthday cakes which is a family fav... Fantastic service and food and cakes are just to die for we have never never been dissapointed ever.... Works of art
Sweet_cupcake
I've never been here before and my friend said the cakes are pretty good so I gave it a go. I got there pretty late in the afternoon so there weren't many options left but the cake I got was really good and I wasn't disappointed. It was called L'esperance which was coconut mousse filled with crunchy chocolate pearls, the mousse was really smooth and the crunchy pearls gave it another special texture
Max B
It isn't often a French café/patisserie outside France pulls it off, but Bon Choix does and convincingly. Well done and thank you.
JJJY
Vanilla Doughnut a must try as well as the chicken ciabatta toasted so yum yum
Susan McLaine
Worst Macarons!. Honestly, I would have thought for a french patisserie that the delicacies would be given some justice. But it was just wrong. The macarons were very brightly colored but that was all. There was no difference between any of the "flavours"
DaniK
Love it. The coffee isn't great but the food is to die for. The almond croissants are an indulgent treat for time to time and I really love the croque monsier when I have lunch with friends.
Louise
Almond Croissant. My daughter & I have an almond croissant addiction so we were keen to try Le Bon Choix. I have to say we really enjoyed them. Plenty of almond filling encased in light buttery pastry. :)
Feed Me
Amazing cakes. Coffee is ok.
TheCBear
I've been a regular for about 7 months now as I loved the coffee and almond croissants...but of late have been sad to see the quality and taste of the coffee decline, including the cups (and even the loyalty cards have changed to require more purchases to get one free) The croissants and cakes are as outstanding as ever! Just bring back the coffee!!!
Nomnomyums
A nice french patisserie. Not a large supply of cakes in the cabinet when we arrived mid afternoon, but enough of a range for us to share.
Brad
Awful service. The staff were rude and obnoxious. The coffee came late (AFTER the food arrived) and tasted like dirt. The cakes were alright, but overly sweet and too expensive for such tiny servings.

These people obviously think they're wonderful and they can charge through the nose for average food and pathetic customer service. DO NOT go here, you'll be treated like scum.
C_Porter
Simply DREADFUL.. This patisserie has the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered in Brisbane.

I went in there several months ago and was screamed at by a staff member not to take photos of the food. I left in shock. I called the store later to ask to speak to a manager, as I wished to make a complaint. The same staff member answered the phone and continued to verbally abuse me.

I wrote an email to the store's managers, doing my best to be polite and to explain what happened and why it upset me. To this date I have not received a reply.

Yes, they have nice food, but save yourself the appalling service and go to French Twist instead - at least their staff know how to treat human beings.
Beaulieu Jean Marie
DELICIEUX.

(Excellent experience to Brisbane where we were on holidays. Warm welcome, fresh products, attractive presentation, pleasant setting, delicious cakes. That of the happiness. There are many pastries in France which are far from having this quality level. (Sorry for this bad translation...)

Yummy apple danish! Very delicious coffee
Melanie Bonenti
Oh my!. I simply adore their almond croissants - I dream about these little miracles!
LittleLady
Popped in at lunch time after reading all the great reviews! A 2 minute walk from my work, this place is fantastic! Ham and chesse crossiant was to die for and the caramel donut was divine!! Going to be hard to keep away from this place!!!
Jellybelly
YUM!. I will try something else once I conquer my addiction to the almond croissant! Coffee is good too, strong and hot.
Booness
If you like rich chocolate dessert, I highly recommend Miroula. Chocolate mousse with creme brulee in the middle. So tasty!
Mel Darley
Good food and outstanding service.. I had a croissant and apple danish which were both very nice. The danish had actual apple slices in it and was delicious! The service was outstanding! We were served by a French lady who was very friendly and fare-welled us when we left. We were also asked by waiters if we enjoyed our meal. I would definitely come back :)

We will be back!. We had lunch at Le Bon Choix yesterday. I ordered the chicken and leek pie which was great. I would also recommend the Mango mousse cake ( bright orange half sphere shape thing) it was delish!! not too sweet, just right. I had no problem eating ALL of it! which is not the norm for me, as I find a whole serve of cake far too rich to finish. Very glad we found this little gem at the end of Queen St.

Mixed. Desert pastries - not bad, tasty but nothing special; overpriced.
Breads - overpriced, nothing particularly special.
Little cakes - delightful (and a little bit decadent)!
Sandwiches - overpriced.
Pies - very plain.
Coffee - never tried them but couldn't too be bad...

Attitude - a little arrogant.

Decor - light, fresh, European.

Value for money - poor.

Verdict: skip lunch and just have the cake.
YumCa
Enjoyable. Gorgeous little shop, with great pastries and nice coffee. I was a little confused and disappointed though, for a place that has obviously put in a lot of money and effort to create a French experience, why they also sell non-french breads (ciabatta next to the baguettes!) and have a really lack-luster cold drinks range. I was hoping to try some cute imported French drinks with my meal - Perrier, Orangina... something?! Not a boring old Sprite... Other than this - very enjoyable.

Superb pâtisserie. After hearing people rave about this place we finally made time and it was absolute perfection! The pâtisserie was deliciously flavoursome and surprisingly light and delicate. Even my grandmother, who usually can't finish half a slice of cake as it's too 'heavy' , ate every last crumb. Superb! Atmosphere was laid back and customer service was great. Definitely a place to go and treat yourself!

Went there today and was blown away by the presentation and taste of the cakes sold. We had a Citron Tart, Strawberry Mousse Cake, Chocolate Eclaire and Strawberry Tart. My fav was the citron tart and the Strawberry Tart, I found the chocolate eclaire a bit sweet, but then again it comes down to personal preference. Delicious all the same.

Go almond croissants !. How nice is it to begin your working day with a cafe au lait and almond croissant delivered to your shade-y outdoor table by a changing roster of cute French boys ? Answer = Very

Stunningly presented cakes and desserts. Not the best macarons in Brisbane though.

Love It!. I love this place. Have purchased several cakes here in this past year and everyone has loved every single one. Pistacchio bread is wonderful. Would love to know if they have cooking classes at their factory on the North side????

Good to go for a work break or afternoon with a friend. Nice desserts and croissant

Lovely french and not too crowded. One of good places you can have lovely French style cake in Brisbane. Very tasty but very bad to your artery!

Love love love Le Bon Choix! I'm pretty close to have tried all of the fabulous little cakes they have on offer and I have to say that the savory items are quite the treat too.

Owner is a horrible fake French man, he's crazy and abusive! He nearly killed and threatened an ex employee. The food is mediocre and tastes like its been left in the sun. brioch is sub par and bland. Macaroons are Coles variety. Coffee is more like America than French. Gross and tacky fake French displays. Rude staff and rude owners, only met twice at the shop here and once in racecourse rd but he is a nut job. Do not go here as it is pretentious!
MYFOODREVIEW
Just like being in France!. The food here is great. Coffee is not the best. And that sums up most bakeries in Paris - the french are known for their food, not their coffee! I will say that this is one of my favourite places in Brisbane - it reminds me the most of eating at a patisserie in Paris. The relaxed atmosphere and the staff are lovely. I love the pastries here as they are light and fluffy and not gluggy like a lot of other places. Get the almond croissant if you want a treat for breakfast. Otherwise I recommend the macaroons and cakes - the 'lucie' and the 'miroula' are the best. I often buy small desserts here and serve at dinner parties. It's always impressive!

Loved it, taken here on a work trip, what a find, amazing presentation of the pastries and treats! Great coffee also.

Good lunch time treat. Went there after lunch for a sugar hit. Variety of pastries could be more extensive. Purchased a tart and an eclair and a few bits and pieces. Overall nice and tasty and gave me the sugar hit I needed. Staff there was very friendly, cheerful and helpful. Would go back there again just to see the handsome Belgian guy behind the counter who served me!

10/10. Great desserts, presentation is top notch and the taste is excellent. The le bon choix is light and fluffy, with tangy fruit which makes it good to balance out a chocolate dessert. Would recommend sharing with a friend so you can get the best of both worlds. Don't order a hot chocolate if you're going in for cake, sugar overload!

Delicious!. Beautiful coffee and I'm so glad a lashed out and had a chocolate eclair! Yum! Will definitely be back when I come to Brisbane again!
Cafe Junkie
I decided to try this place out. I ordered a cappuccino and an orange macaroon and I can say I was underwhelmed. The macaroon was tiny and hard and chewy and coffee mediocre. Choquette in New Farm has far better macaroons and coffee.

Pretty cakes. Cakes were pretty, but overall taste wise it was just alright, wasn't great but wasn't bad.

Yum. A wonderful place to eat the most yummy things in the world....for sweet tooths!

Great pattiserie. Amazing french pattiserie with beautiful cakes and tarts. However recently I went there to have a coffee and it took about half an hour to get it. So maybe a place to takeaway the treats and have a coffee elsewhere

A-m-a-z-i-n-g... pastries to die for! we spent over $100 in this place trying out all the pastries and individual cakes which are like works of art... tasted danish, donuts, eclairs, tarte, macaroon, fraises, and meranges... worth the walk to find but watch the waistline :)

A little piece of Paris in CBD. A secret little spot this is, with outdoor dining that you won't experience else where in the CBD. The cakes are AMAZING & it's worth picking one up to impress guests at your next dinner party. (by the way we've worked our way through all of them & they are all great!) I can also recommend the quiche's, the best in Brisbane in my books.

Awesome coffee and cake. Every trip into the CBD isn't complete without a visit to Le Bon Choix. Nestled in the true heart of the CBD, situated at a memorial of some significant dude (statue is good if you are thirsty as it doubles as a water fountain!), sit at their al fresco seating area and people watch - just like in France.
The coffee has been perfect every time we have been there and the pastries are not for the Weight Watchers points people.

Nice dessert. Finally find a bakery in Brisbane which sells real dessert instead of "super sweet suger cube". Hot chocolate is nice too.

Little pieces of heaven. My friends and I went to Le Bon Choix for dessert after lunch along the river. The desserts window is an incredible sight - all these little peices of art on display. It's a pity I couldn't try everything!

They are between $5 - $6.50 each and worth every cent. I chose a Millefuelle (vanilla/custardy slice) which was absolutely heavenly. The pastry was so flaky and the inside was deliciously creamy and sweet. My friends were also in love with their selections.

We sat outside under a huge tree but there is also some inside seating.

I just love this place, I need to go there again to try more of these little pieces of heaven!!

Mocopan coffee while not my favourite was pretty good - flat white and espresso style. Bacon and leek quiche quite tasty and not too scary a price at 5.50 for something just slightly smaller than your average meet pie. Very nice location on the weekend - quiet, breezy and under shade of huge tree. People watching was also quite good from the bar style seats inside looking out on queen st.

I've been wanting to try this cafe for a while ever since Tim bought some macarons from there. They have this amazing selection of cakes and french patisserie which I couldn't photograph as there was a sign that said no photography...

This place is absolutely amazing! You really do eat with your eyes at Le Bon Choix and all the cakes are neatly lined up to entice you into devouring everything. The Almond Crossant was so delicious and the best I've ever had. It had a rich tasting crunch and then just melted in your mouth. Best washed down with a chai latte (in my opinion at least). The Apple Danish was also really good but that almond crossant was defintely the show stopper for me. Almond Crossant

Behind the glass counter lies sweet temptations: little round, square and rectangular cakes glossed with beautiful colours, or smooth chocolate ganache, or decked with macarons, fruit and luscious meringue; plump croissants bursting with fresh cheese, delicatessen meats and lettuce; artisan breads and delicate macarons. A favourite of mine must be the Miroula cake – a smooth and rich chocolate macademia mousse with a sweet creme brulee centre, dressed in a sexy, black, glossy ganache and studded with macarons. For my birthday, Mum bought the Lucie – soft pillows of strawberry mousse with a delicate coconut dacquoise crowned with coconut shards, strawberries and macarons. For a gorgeous coffee date, sweet afternoon tea or to breathe in the smell of beautiful French cakes, Le Bon Choix awaits you. Le Bon Choix | 379 Queen St, Brisbane | 3229 9260| Sh

The place swarms at lunch and the sandwiches are impossibly good.

Walking into Le Bon Chiox can be compared to a kid walking into a candy story, but just the adult version of it. There are cakes and pastries and sweet things in display cabinets that cater to most sweet tooths from the refined cakes for one, or the cherry danishes, or the macaroons or the croissants or the..... well you get the idea

My all time favourite here would be the L'esperance - the main flavour in this cake is the passionfruit. I mean, it does say 'coconut mousse' as a centre (info from their site) but you can't taste too much of it. I guess the main stand out point for me is that it has a really light and refreshing flavour - the cake being sweet, but not so sweet that you can't finish it - its actually the kind of sweetness that makes you want to have more! For the chocolate lovers, the inside of the cake is actually also riddled with crunchy chocolate pearl balls which adds to the overall taste of the cake - the tangy passionfruit, smooth cream mousse coupled with chocolate pearl balls - it really adds that bit of crunch! All the cakes here are pretty delicious, but i find myself always coming back to this one because it's not a heavy or too sweet sort of cake.. if you want the more 'sweeter' ones, i would recommend the 'Miroula'.
...an authentic French patisserie (or bakery) with macarons, cakes, breads, and sandwiches. I say authentic because this patisserie values presentation of their food, the taste hits the spot, and the employees are French. They also didn't like me taking pictures, which is just too French of them. I didn't actually snap any shots of what I, but their hot chocolate was the most delicious ever! It was probably one of the best hot chocolates I've ever tasted. It was different (more than just thicker) than the standard hot chocolate that you'd find anywhere else, and I would definitely recommend it. I also had an almond croissant, which was très, très, délicieux! It was fresh, flaky, and of perfect sweetness! Much more than c omme ci , comme ça. Almond Croissant I wasn't in the mo

Le Bon Choix translates to ‘the best choice’ and after sampling a handful of their delightful treats, I couldn’t agree more. I think more visits are on the agenda to ensure I try each and every item on their mouth-watering menu.
A Matter Of Taste
Bonjour! - that's a first word you'll hear when you come to Le Bon Choix in Brisbane CBD. When I finally made it there for breakfast, I felt like in a nice patisserie in Paris. There isn't actually any menu you can choose from, exactly like in my favourite place in Paris - you just look at things behind the glass, and point at them to order. And then you can't wait when they'll finally bring it to your table. My expectations were set very high and I'm very happy with my choice. I tried popular almond croissant and citron tart (I try citron/lemon/citrus tart almost everywhere I go, that's my addiction) and latte coffee . That was a really delicious breakfast treat. Croissant was packed with flavours, I was only wondering why they don't serve it warm? And citron tart was a nice surprise. It doesn't look very homemade and natural but the taste is awesome. I loved it! For my husband we ordered a jam doughnut and apple pastry. I really liked how the apple pastry looke

Went to Le Bon Choix in the CBD for another lovely moment for sweets and chocolates and coffees... A friday afternoon spent here is definitely nice... Although the bustling city never seems to die down nowadays due to the office workers and the ongoing traffic.. But it was a nice time to just chill and enjoy the food and the talks...

Since someone haven't been to Le Bon Choix CBD and neither have I (only have tried the one in Ascot/Hamilton), I recommended this French bakery for an arvo coffee dessert time while we were in the CBD... Two visits are combined into one restaurant review (giving a headsup) instead of doing one and a revisit post...

I had to wash down the hot chocolate with water, otherwise i would have suffered from choco intoxication and you don't want to see that cos you'll have an overhyper Jing running around! Warning: DANGEROUS WTF!

I cut a bit off and took a bite - it was flakey and slightly crunchy on the outside, and soft and moist on the inside. The almond flakes on top were toasted and fragrant. Good start. However it took me

We also brought a Lenett cake that we had ordered from Le Bon Choix – which is, inevitably, one of the best French patisseries in Brisbane. The white chocolate mousse cake was silky smooth and devilishly mouthwatering, the design was simple yet elegant.

Le Bon Choix is without doubt one of best, if not the best patisserie in Brisbane in my opinion. Their attention to detail, quality of food and presentation is absolutely outstanding. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone with a sweet tooth.

The ‘Le Bon Choix’ was definitely the choice of the two and, whilst L’esperance was nice, doesn’t compete with some of the other cakes we have tried here.

So far so good, except that the coffee wasn't great, so maybe you might want to grab a pastry here and a coffee somewhere else for breakfast at the office. Alternatively, a good take away dessert place.

A few times trekking between the city and valley, I would walk past Le Bon Choix and take a peak inside. Even so, it took me a while to realize it was a French patisserie but once I did, I start noticing all these online references recommending it as one

Le Bon Choix means the "Best Choice" in French, no wonder why it has been named as the Bakery of the Year by the Baking Industry Association of Queensland in April 2010.

Last time I walked into this building at the pointy end of Queen Street it was a bank. Now it looks decidedly French and way too tempting. It was Jodie's recommendation that send me on the hunt which revealed not only delicious hot chocolate but also a gr
