Review The Gunshop Cafe - Brisbane

Malakaie Pamposa
I have to re-review this lovely café. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ I'm now a regular customer here because it is just too amazing. If I could give this establishment 10 stars I would, but that isn't possible so I give it 5 well deserved stars. The staff, the chefs, baristas are all very nice and such hard workers. The food is so delicious and it's the perfect place for breakfast if you're in South Brisbane. Well worth the visit ♡

Love this place so much that I continue to return again and again. The menu is delicious and creative and makes you want to try something new. It’s on the expensive side but worth ever penny! Korean fried chicken waffles and sautéed seasonal greens have been my top picks 1. Korean Fried chicken waffles 2. Eggs Benedict 3. Sautéed seasonal greens & sweet potato rosti 4. Prawn Okonomiyaki 5. Banoffee French toast

The food is a little more on the expensive side but it's definitely worth going back to. Their menu is tasty and creative. Part of the reason I keep bringing friends here is the artsy industrial atmosphere and the authentic artwork that lines the walls. Great spot to write, study or meet friends. Customer service is impeccable, the staff are always friendly and down to earth. They also do a solid cup of coffee. Highly recommend!

First try but quite disappointed with the banana bread ($7) and muffins ($5). Not fresh and the texture is dry/more like flour dough. Expect more with this price. Plus asked for butter on the side for the takeaway banana bread but came with no cutlery. Coffee is ok.

Not a huge amount that jumped out on the menu. The avocado on toast and considered accompaniments was good but it felt really expensive for what is was. The cafe could be pretty cosy inside in winter, if its quiet, but on this occasion we sat out the back. It’s a funny space, it feels like you’re outdoors but, there are 4 solid walls and a tin roof that completely closes over the ‘courtyard’. Spacious, but not what I’d be looking unless I was with a large group. I am only speaking for the west end location, and I get the sense Toowong at least offers a very different feel. Free wifi, that’s a draw card. But overall a breakfast and study most memorable for the service.

The cafe’s location was easy to spot. Staff were very attentive and friendly. I really enjoyed the sauteed seasonal greens that I ordered and I had a taste of the smoked bacon brekky burger which was nice as well. I just didn’t enjoy the house made banana bread that we ordered which looks appetizing with the cream and caramelized apples but it was bland despite looking sweet. But overall, our experience was satisfying. Definitely a good place to try.

Definitely one of my go-tos for food whenever I'm down West End. Great service, coffee (they use Merlo beans, so it's nice and creamy), as well as decadent offerings for breakfast and lunch!

I wish I could rate this restaurant higher! From the second we walked in, the customer service exceeded expectations! While the waiter was busy attending to customers, the chef greeted us and said someone with be with you in a moment, which they were. It rare to even get acknowledgement from a chef, but this one was lovely. The fantastic service continued through the evening and the meals were divine! I HIGHLY recommend the gnocchi. It’s on another level. My husband had the special which was fish of the day and it came with a couple scallops. They were slightly under cooked, but still delicious. They even did a special custom kids meal. I cannot recommend this place enough! Thank you to all the staff for making our night even more special

I ordered the braised beef cheeks. It was tender soft and melts in the mouth, however my friends and I all found the dish really salty and there's lack of freshness or acidity to cut through the saltiness. Other than that, loved the truffle fries and the ocean trout dish on the menu!

Great cafe. Food did not disappoint! We got married in the courtyard 5 years ago. The food was memorable for all the right reasons. We decided to go back to celebrate 5years. It was amazing. The staff are friendly and professional. The food was top quality. We were even surprised with a delectable dessert! Thanks to Jimmy and the rest of the gang. We will be back. We won't wait 5 years again

Service was very good and attentive. I had the “special of the day” for lunch - grilled baramundi and scallops - it was very tasty but extremely small. Only one scallop on the whole plate which was a bit misconceiving. I feel the side salad could at least have been bigger. Would still go back and recommend this place.

The lamb rump is wonderful, they shake the best martinis in West End, and chatting with the staff is always a joy. This is the first place we felt at home in our new neighbourhood. Thanks guys!

Absolutely with out a doubt the best food I have ever eaten. The truffle fries were ridiculously good.

Had lunch there today in a group for my grand daughters christening..the food and service were exceptional.Could not rate them high enough

Had an amazing meal here for my bday last night. Food was so delicious & fantastic service! Yummy Havana mojito & great selection of wines. Definitely will be back! Thanks

Just had a meal here tonight, the food and the service was amazing would definitely recommend.

This is where Brisbane is missing the point in general. These guys should start teaching the rest of the cafes out there on how it's done. Service was quick and non intrusive and food was awesome I haven't got enough time to preach on how good it was but I will definitely be back. Keep up the good work.
Amanda Patrick
The food was amazing! We ordered the beef cheek ragout and the Parmesan and thyme gnocchi - they were "melt in the mouth". We also loved the personalised service. Highly recommended!!!!!!!

A West End classic that I had high expectations for. While the staff were lovely and the coffee was good I ordered the smashed avo and was sorely disappointed. Here I am thinking 'you can't go wrong with ago on toast right? Wrong. Very light spread of avocado on a single piece of toast that seemed stale and was so hard I couldn't cut through. On top of that I failed to see much of anything else that was advertised; with the exception of the greens which were piled on to make it look like there was a plate full of food. As I detest bean sprouts and watercrest it would have been nice to know that's what was meant by greens and that this wasn't a light garnish; after this was scraped off there was not much left on the plate at all and was overpriced for what I got. With so many fantastic cafes in and around that area (that absolutely kill the simple ago on toast) I wouldn't be going back for what I considered a sorely underwhelming dish.
Veronica Westacott
Great breakfast the granola looked like me are and the avo on toast was delish! The excellent service was also a highlight we will be back next time we are in Brisbane.

Beautiful, friendly welcoming staff. Amazing breakfast and coffee. Really efficient service. Will be back.

Just amazing!! Can't wait to dine in again. Thank you for top notch service and stellar food

Went for late afternoon coffee and loved it so much, we went back for dinner the next night. The food was delicious, the wine was lovely, and best of all, the service is absolutely spot on.
Gregoria Makras
Yummy food, attentive service and the best dry martini’s

A high vibrational place... I loved the decor.<br/>My experience was really good. Very tasty coffee, and the breakfast menu is epic.
Mika Graham
Still the best place to go! The food is just delish and the service is excellent. We keep coming back and it is consistently enjoyable.

Now this is breakfast! Fine dining quality in an unassuming, yet very cool setting. Very reasonable prices given the quality & quantity. Friendly & authentic staff that really care about their food (5/5).
Samantha Lee
The waiters are very friendly. Nice place to chill and hangout with friends. Great service and great food.
Clare
Good space and we were seated quickly and easily. The good portion sizes were on the smaller side to just right and the food came out fairly quickly. I’d like to give it a 3.5 as the food and service was good. But alas, the coffee left a bit to be desired and my husband wasn’t raving about the food. Just said it was good. All in all, not too bad and would be happy to suggest it as a brunch location option
Rose
These guys always have great service and waste no time making your coffee -- perfect for a coffee addict that can't function without my coffee, like me :). They also make a great bacon and eggs. Would recommend it to anyone in west end looking for a cafe
Ang Riann
Super delicious food, the green eggs and ham were great. I enjoyed my experience here. The staff were super busy but still friendly though I could have felt more welcomed.

“I have used many different types of inflatable toast an I can say without question that this is the best inflatable toast out there. The toast inflates quickly and with ease..this is important when I am pressed for time and need inflatable toast at a moments notice. If you are like me and can’t be without a high quality inflatable toast, THIS is the one for you!”

A beautiful interior and a true stayer in the Brisbane cafe scene, The Gunshop Cafe is a great option for brunch. It used to be somewhere I visited during my uni days but I hadn't returned in YEARS so I was keen to go back. To be honest, it wasn't as good as I remember and I left a little disappointed.<br/><br/>Service is friendly but a touch slow so don't go if you're super hungry. Also, my almond milk coffee was made using what I'm guessing was a sweetend almond milk - perhaps a popular choice for the majority but not my particular fav. I chose the huevos rancheros and it was fine but nothing to write home about. Quite small, nice flavours but being a Mexican dish, I expected punchier flavours.<br/><br/>Not hideously expensive, interesting menu, lovely interior and you're able to split bills, it's obvious to see why this place has lasted the test of time. A few improvements needed to make it a firm favourite but not a bad place for brunching with friends.
Mika-and Patrick
We LOVE this place - and regularly have breakfast here.   The main drawcard for us is the excellent service - you are always greeted with a smile and nothing is too much trouble.  The food is awesome and consistently great - the coffee is spot on too! Ambience is excellent - it's just a really fantastic place with great staff and food.  And my favourite - they make the BEST hollandaise sauce from scratch! None of this 'instant' curry tasting stuff you get at other cafes/restaurants.

Terrible mushroom croque madame. It is truly an insult to even call it a croque madame! The toast was saturated in what was meant to be a truffle bechemal. There was no sauce to be seen, as it was totally absorbed into the bread. Simply a soggy mess! Everything was extremely salty, to the point of being unpalatable. The mushrooms were another huge disappointment. Simply flavorless and unbearingly salty. It actually deserves 0 stars.

I come here after lunch today for dessert and coffee. I order a large Cappuccino and I am disappointed to be told only 2 desserts on the menu are available, Tiramisu and Peach Cobbler. I opt for the Peach Cobbler as a Chef comes to the table to recommend it. <br/><br/>The Cappuccino ($5) is served hot but is weak and lacks flavour. This Peach Cobbler ($15) is not a baked dessert but a serving of muesli, a piece of peach, custard and a scoop of Vanilla ice cream. A very poor Peach Cobbler and this dessert is a fail!

Visited this renowned cafe end of last year on Sunday for breakfast. When I perused the menu, the most inviting dish on the menu was the salmon dish so gave it a go with a cup of flat white. Coffee came first, which was not extra-ordinary surprised. On the contrary, the wow response came with the very nice presentation of the savory dish. By the visual appraisal, the plating is a fine-dining grade. When I taste the grapefruit curled Atlantic Salmon, my feeling is over the moon. What a well balanced dish that should not been seen in a cafe. Although the coffee is average, this dish deserves to compensate any discrepancy.

Had Valentine’s Day lunch here with my husband. I ordered the sautéed seasonal greens for $18.9. Husband ordered the parmesan & thyme gnocchi for $21. Husband ordered a flat white and said it was fairly ordinary. We waiting about 40 minutes for our meal to come out, and watched a few other people who came in after us get their meals before we did. The food was delicious, but pretty expensive for the portion size. <br/>

So good! One of my favourite spots for breakfast in Brisbane and has been for years. Dinner here is always top notch as well. Only criticism is that dinner portions can be a little small for the price but in saying that the food is always delicious and cooked to perfection.
Hungrygirl
I went here for breakfast recently and had a really good meal. I usually hate going out for breakfast as you end up paying $20+ for something you could easily make at home, eggs, avocado and all the boring basics but I was delighted when my meal came out. I ordered the smashed avocado on olive and rosemary bread. There was a lot going on but it all worked together really well. The sweetness of the roasted pumpkin really complimented the more intense flavours coming from the olive and rosemary bread, and the salad on top gave it that real freshness breakfasts often lack. The staff were friendly and attentive even though it was super busy. I will definitely be back here again.

Extensive menu that makes you want to return to try it all. Everytime I've dined has made me want to order more but have been too full to stomach anymore. Fresh seasonal ingredients make up delicious brunch dishes and are a great start to your day. Dinner menu is also great with candles and a definite change in ambience. Staff are super helpful and friendly.
Mathiar
The ambience was nice, the location was central. The food was good. The beef cheek was a bit on the bland side, maybe some more flavour or salt but otherwise the dish was good. However, it was not worth waiting 45min for...<br/>I was on a work trip, I wasn’t in a rush but I was there alone, so time went by extra slow. I had two coffees and still waiting. I was only checked one once after about 40min when I deliberately kept checking my watch as a subtle hint. In the end there were no apologies for the delay. That left a bad taste in my mouth. As usual though, I give every place a second chance. I’d eat here again, if I had nowhere to be that day.

Gunshop is definitely underrated for dinner. Delicious food, always amazing service, great range of wines and beers and dim lights make for a romantic setting. My go to is the gnocchi and my partner always had the eye fillet. Reasonable prices. Try it you will not be disappointed. For brunch of dinner I highly recommend

I ordered the skirt steak for my lunch because of a sudden crave for meat. IT WAS STUNNING! Love it so much! The different flavors of sauce are subtly mixed. The steak was perfectly cooked. Definitely would come back for the steak or try other dishes on the menu! Oh and the service is prompt and friendly as well. Highly recommand this lovely place❤

Service started off a bit slow but improved (Monday lunch so not busy). Food was ok but nothing special. The wagyu burger was fairly non-descript but the fries were good. At this price point, I wouldn't hurry to return.

Best cafe and dinner place in West End! I visited this Cafe for 3 times and I totally in love with it!<br/>Nice food and perfect service! I really like the omelette of the day which in special for everyday!
Danelle Lim Yun
Would technically give this place 3.5 stars. Service was great, the servers were really friendly. The food was tasty, but the servings were pretty small for the price. It was a rather average cafe in terms of the food. I wouldn't choose to come back when there are a plethora of cafes around in west end.
Canuck In Oz
Thought I might give this place a try as the rating number said it's good. I was seated fast, quickly brought a bottle of water and a menu. The waiter explained the daily specials.<br/><br/>A beer quickly followed with my fish arriving shortly after. The fish was perfectly cooked and fresh. The fried vegetables on the top were another matter. They were fried beyond recognition by look of taste.<br/><br/>Service good, food not so good.
Geraldine Walsh
This place was good once upon a time but unfortunately with new ownership food is full of sprouts & other ingredients sparse.<br/>Very disappointed with the new owners approach which was quite unwilling to help
Monica
The latte art is totally bad. <br/>As well I ordered the steak, bacon & kidney dish, I don’t think it is delicious at all, especially with the price of $19. The kidney was raw inside with strong ‘fishy’ smell. And when I asked the staff there that whether it’s normal, they just said yes without any concerns about my feelings. Whereby the steak was definitely over cooked, tasted not tender at all.<br/>Would never go back again!!!!!!!
IsFoodIsGood
I had the smashed Avo dish and added a poached egg.<br/>There was way too much sprouts and vinegar so the dish was disappointing.<br/>Nice service though.
Jenny
I wanted to come to here for a long time but they always seems so packed with people and you need to wait in line in the weekend.<br/><br/>Food is delicious and staff member are so nice. Flavors are spot on the atmosphere is great. Coffee are quite smooth which is exactly how I like it. Will come back for more for sure. They used be rated very highly now the rate came down a little, not sure why but they looks good to me.

Delicious breakfast, friendly and helpful staff and nice ambience out the back! Would definitely come here again and looking forward to trying out their other menu items

Breakfast - Good food - the lambs fry (rare to find on Brisbane menus) was delightful and cooked perfectly - brilliant flavours with bacon just right (cooked before it was added) - my companions meals where also excellent with a great choice of meals. The chai was a let down and was either syrup or not so good powder. The milkshake only ok. Good fit-out and location - we sat out the back near the wood fire pizza ovens. Plenty of room. Seats where not so comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient.

Lots of memory in The GunShop, which in heart of Westend. Been brekky here while study in Uni!> Love the venue and relaxing environment. With a group of Sydney friend here on Saturday morning and have good time. <br/><br/>Small suggestion, that food maybe a little bit oily for me... maybe is me getting old... ahhh..

Been here a few times and have made some fond memories, food is at times inconsistent however the coffee is always on point. Very relaxed decor with solid service any time of day.

I decided on a whim to come here for a long brunch with my friends after viewing the menu online. Upon entering the cafe we were greeted warmly and able to pick either to sit indoors or outdoors. The service was quite efficient and the meals came together which is always a good thing. I ordered the gnocchi dish, which was presented very Insta worthy. While at first I was a bit disappointed at the small number of pieces of gnocchi, after a few bites I quickly realised that it was quite fulfilling and the portion was honestly perfect. The dessert I ordered was the waffles with s'mores on top. I do think personally that there was probably a bit too much of the marshmallow goodness, so I had to take quite a bit of it off in the end. However this wasn't really a problem. The servers didn't seem that bothered that me and my friends stayed for around 3-4 hours just catching up even though they started setting up for dinner - I hope this wasn't frowned upon. Would definitely recommend to come here to chill and have lunch or maybe do a light study session. There are plenty of seating options, and the pleasant ambience and warm servers were the icing on the cake.
Jasmyin.tay
Coffee was really good and the sweet potato hash! Yummmmmmms! Lovely food, nice ambience but a bit of a wait. Can't blame the staff though, the place was packed! You see only the front of the shop and the inside which isn't that big but there is a courtyard at he back and when full, the place can really pack many people! Definitely worth a visit on a weekend!
Littlemisspiggyeats
Most expensive coffee I had in Brisbane so far (and I have just moved from Perth), $4.70 for a small takeaway soy latte. Coffee was so so, not a nice smooth strong taste. But okay. Looked like a popular spot for brunch and we were greeted promptly at the door when we went to order.

Had a birthday dinner here tonight and couldn't fault a thing. The staff were great, accommodating, friendly and went out of their way to get blankets for us! The food was very tasty, well priced and cooked fresh to order. Would definitely recommend.

We had a very pleasant Friday night dinner at the Gunshop. Our mains of risotto and the chicken and quinoa salad were tasty and arrived pretty quickly. The service was friendly and it's a nice space to eat and converse in.

Delicious food and good service. I went with three friends and we all ordered different plates and each of them looked and tasted beautiful. Coffee and drinks to match. Overall very impressed, would definitely return!
Zannastardust
Maybe a tad on the overpriced side for the bacon/egg/hollandaise combo but the waffles were AMAZING. Perfectly crunchy, perfectly grilled figs, perfectly balanced with the vanilla cream. Beautiful. The dirty chai is one to check out too. Staff were so friendly.
Johnny Boy
Used to be my favourite breakfast cafe and have been there many times.<br/>We went back over the Easter break to find a motley crew now running the place.<br/>Still good enough but nowhere near their glory days.
M & M
Today is a public holiday (Easter Monday?) and so the streets are quiet but all the open popular spots in west end are busy! Despite the line up for breakfast, which wasn't long at all - 10 mins (NYC bagels said it was a 40 minute wait for bagels which is what I wanted originally but I'm glad I came to Gunshop Cafe). <br/><br/>The service was great. All smiles and kind words. The fresh juice M had and he iced chai I had were both so refreshing and tasty. Breakfast overall was well presented, filling and delicious. Will be returning to try more.
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
The Gunshop Cafe was my favorite breakfast restaurant in Brisbane for the better part of five years.  I've dined here quite literally hundreds of times and during the first  four years may have had two poor dishes and one poor meal.  Over the past eighteen months I have had several poor dishes, multiple disappointing meals and repeatedly experienced poor service.  We went from dining here every weekend, to every month, to once every few months.  You'd be justified asking the question, "Why go back?" - I've asked myself the same question on numerous occasions.  The simple answer is that we keep going back because when they are good, they are really good - and old habits die hard.<br/><br/>We had a friend, Friendly Meatball, visiting from overseas and decided to give Gunshop another go.<br/><br/>We ordered an Iced Latte, Chai Tea, Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice and a Babyccino, followed by the Belgian Waffles ($19),  Smoked Bacon and Poached Eggs($18), Green Eggs and Ham($18), and Catalunya Chips and Eggs ($18).<br/><br/>The coffee and tea both arrived promptly, followed shortly by the Babycinno, which was quite sloppy and missing the marshmallow.   The server promised to rectify this, but after 15 minutes and several reminders from Mini Meatball I flagged down another server, who promptly delivered 3 marshmallows - I was advised that the extra marshmallows made up for the delay.<br/><br/>The Belgian Waffles were served with a generous dollop of honeycomb and cardamon chantilly cream, blackberry compote and grilled figs.  The waffles themselves were delicious, but the cream was a bit overwhelmingly sweet, coupled with the fact that the whole dish was dusted with sugar as well.  Still, this dish rated 3.5-4.<br/><br/>The Smoked Bacon and Poached Eggs were served with an herbed Hollandaise sauce, roasted tomatoes and a thin slice of toasted quinoa and soya bread.  The biggest issue with this dish was that the eggs were overcooked and would not run - this is a cardinal sin in my book.  The second issue was that the roasted tomatoes were cold by the time they reached the table.  The quinoa and soya bread was fine, but I miss the beautiful sourdough they used to serve with their poached eggs.  The highlight of the dish was the bacon.  Overall, the dish was a bit disappointing and rated 2.5-3.<br/><br/>The Green Eggs and Ham (an ode to Dr Seuss?) consisted of leg ham, pesto scrambled eggs, rocket, relish and sourdough toast.  Beautiful plating and the eggs were delicious, but the crushed nut garnish was a bit unusual.  Most pestos are made with pine nuts, which are actually a seed and do not trigger nut allergies.  Therefore plating with actual nuts (including pistachios) can be a bit dangerous where the menu didn't mention nuts.  No nut allergies here, so we were all good.  This dish rated a 4-4.5.<br/><br/>The Catalunya Chips and Eggs was a surprisingly delicious dish, which included twice cooked chips, manchego cheese, shaved chorio, baked egg and chipotle aioli.  I'll admit that the dish didn't look that appealing when it was served - one of the ugliest looking baked eggs I've ever seen - but the flavors come together beautifully and every element works in this dish.  Lady Meatball described this as "the perfect hangover food."  This dish rated a 4.<br/><br/>The Green Eggs and Ham arrived a few minutes after everything else, but even that combined with the Babyccino marshmallow issues weren't big deals.  I think this may have been the first time that we have received coffees before the food in the past year, so perhaps their service is picking up a bit.  Still not great, but better.<br/><br/>If even one of my poached eggs had run I would have happily bumped Gunshop's rating back up to a 4, but two overcooked eggs and the other issues noted keep them at a 3.5.  <br/><br/>*****<br/>August 2016<br/>Previously rated 3.5<br/><br/>The Gunshop Cafe remains my favorite breakfast restaurant in Brisbane, but their consistency has suffered in the past year - new chef and they lost their head waitress. We still frequent the restaurant, but went from eating breakfast or brunch at Gunshop every weekend to once a month.<br/><br/>My regular dish remains the "Chriberg double smoked free range bacon, Glass House Mountains poached eggs, roasted bella rossa tomato, herbed hollandaise and Leavain organic sourdough," but my wife and friends bounce all over the menu and quite enjoy the brioche french toast and potato & feta hash cake. <br/><br/>Have previously reviewed it as "consistently delicious and well worth any wait", but would update this to a 'must try' with the hopes they are having a good day, in which case it will be one of the best breakfasts you've had in Brisbane.
Bradleyw1990
Excellent service. Coffee was great and the food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Chose the smashed avo with some bacon and haloumi on the side, it was also great!
Jade
An old favourite.. The Gun Shop always feels intimate and the service genuine, yet professional. This place doesn't feel like its trying to hard which is refreshing. The food and wine is always excellent. A lovely night out for 2 or with a group.
Epicurusfoodie
This character cafe in the West End gets it right. Very tasty menu. We had pork sage sausage with poached egg. And also french toast brioche with rasperry sorbet, mascarpone and blueberries. Seriously yummy. Great arty photographs on the wall. And morning newspapers - essential for a brekkie joint!
The Food Oracle
Very warm and very very loud inside. I'm not sure what happens in summer but there didn't appear to be any AC units. <br/>Food was great, although it was 30+ minutes for the food to arrive. <br/>French toast special was gorgeous, not too sweet. With generous toppings of sorbet, marscapone and fruit. But also quite a small serve. <br/>Reports were that the pork sausage was juicy and tasty. <br/>I feel the prices are probably 20% more than where they should be but it's a busy little place so people obviously don't mind paying the extra. <br/>Young waitress with the clear framed specs was delightful but no one else really shone.
Kate
So impressed with the dinner we had at the Gunshop Cafe. <br/>Everything was delicious and it's such a great atmosphere of a night time. <br/>Already planning the next visit.

I had breakfast at the Gun Shop for the first time in a while and can report that it has managed to keep it's standards high. Well made coffee, and tasty food. I opted for the avocado on grain and appreciated how fresh everything was. The staff are nice enough and efficient.
Absolutely Gr8
Everything about this place was wrong (except for the beer). Or maybe I just wasn't lucky and ended up with a shift of unhappy, pretentious and smug staff; and the meal wasn't what it was promoted to be - my dish was to have 'preserved lemon' and that was the main reason I elected to order that. There was no sign of the preserved lemon on my plate. When I queried the waitress she went to check and came back stating it was mixed within the dish. It wasn't. It was quite insulting to try and pass that story to a customer. There was no hint of anything lemony in my dish not any mix of the preserved lemon. And the dish was bulked up (for the lack of a better word) with two large chunks of bread. All in all my Swiss Mushrooms dish was Sunday breakfast (without bacon and eggs). Disappointing.
Hughforfood
Varied between disappointing to adequate.    Menu has a good & interesting range, if small selection set.   Produce in food seemed fresh; ingredients in "fresh" juices wasn't fresh.   Staff seemed focussed on other things - was 1330 on a Sunday, so......and they obviously have had a dose of hipster chic in their training...  Physical menu has old food item (eggs?) stuck to it.     Meals - had 3 dishes.   Minor irritants with all, without a serious negative.  eg. Salmon was quite under-done; omelette was served tepid to cold (hence rubber-like) and prawn shells left on  (not just tail section - prawn bodies had not been shelled properly); soft shell crab was bland with bottled condiment over the desiccated salad.   Physically; a good place, although the toilets are somewhat old school.    I'd go back if someone wanted to meet there, but for the experience alone - no.

Food was alright, nothing too special and a bit overpriced. <br/><br/>I had bacon and poached eggs. The bacon was ok but the eggs were a tad over cooked. Bread was also quite chewy. <br/><br/>The chocolate shake was a highlight and I would definitely have it again.<br/><br/>Overall, a decent brunch place.
Aoife
I had the pasta with trout which was delicious, a very refreshing tasting meal, and the service was great as always. Had to mark them down as my companions fish and chips were not cooked through unfortunately

Thanks for making me wait 40 mins for breakfast guys... I don't mind waiting for my food when its busy, that I can understand. What really annoys me is when the family of 3 next to me that came in after me get their 3 meals, coffees and smoothies in a reasonable 20 minutes. In the meantime my partner and I just stare at their food starving and constantly trying to get the attention of one of the staff members.. basically we got our food just under an hour of being there, and the family had eaten, paid and left before we could even start our meals. Food was good when it finally came out but I can't say I will be back anytime soon.
Lou
Went for breakfast. Small menu. Small servings. Ridiculously big price. Nothing special about the food. Never again. Much better value elsewhere in West End

I have been to the gunshop before and had a pretty good experience before. So I went back and, with a serious sweet tooth developing, I was definitely looking for a sweet option.<br/><br/>Thankfully there was a sweet choice of the nutella sandwich french toast. It was beautifully presented and had some rich, delicious flavours. However, the size was a bit small. Because of the rich flavors, there really needed to be a good amount of bread to neutralise the tastes. As there was only a small amount, the richness was just too overpowering. With many other french toasts that I have had in my time, the bread has always been relatively large so that the other flavors are balanced. This isn't to say that it wasn't delicious. It was really delicious. I said afterwards however that I didn't feel full but I did feel sick. More bread would have lessened that.<br/><br/>However, my coffee was delightful and the service was great. The prices were also pretty reasonable. So while I have given this an average rating, I am happy to increase it if I return and order something else.

After hanging out to try this venue on recommendation both online and word of mouth I was slightly disappointed, the eggs Benedict style option came with a very scarce amount of hollandaise, eggs were over cooked and or sides came out half way through our meal.. I suppose this sounds rather "breakfast snob" like but I just assumed for the higher price and the good reviews.. Maybe my expectations were too high.

Dismal. Waited 30 mins for food only to be told the order hadn't been put in the system. Our waiter was to cool for school & paid no attention to us after he took our order. Every time we come up from Melbourne we go to the gunshop for brekky but never again!
Janice
Went there for breakfast food was good but a little pricey. Milk shake was ok. Waiting for my meal almost half and hour. But when the food arrive it was good. Staff are nice and friendly.

I'd been wanting to try this cafe for a while and despite the line up to get in, the room was warm and inviting. The breakfast menu read really well and the sausage dish was delicious albeit a bit small. If you're a big eater I recommend the side of toast. My colleagues all enjoyed their meals and the coffee was above par. I'd recommend this venue for a group but make sure you book.

This place is still a good, despite some chef changes (happens everywhere). I've been a number of times and it's always changing and innovative, sometimes a little mediocre and sometimes excellent. Great location with various dining options, front, indoors or out the back. I've had great meals here, and average meals .. But will always be positive about this cafe.
Poached Egg
Have been here a few times for breakfast and really enjoyed it however it can be a bit pricey for the small portions you get. If you don't mind spending that extra bit though it's such a nice venue and great for a catchup date.
Lydia
went there for brunch and ordered pull pork omelette and sourdough. The service was way too slow that we waited for 30 MINUTES. the kale was deep fried which made the whole dish very oily since there was already heaps olive oil in it. pork was a bit dry but overall not too bad. However the portion was small. <br/>this place seems to be overrated. The food is OK but not amazing.
Rebecca
A great spot for brunch and coffee. The sweet potato cake was perfect, the sausage was a bit disappointing. I plan on coming back at some stage for dinner.
Kelly Saunders
Do not book a function here. Terrible!!! customer service and communication between staff members.Thank goodness the food is consistently amazing.
Sarah
With extremely excessive pricing this place is not worth it. I don't care how trendy and cool a place looks and feels. A really basic tasting breakfast for two costing $60 is an absolute joke. 6.50 for a side of avocado.. Need I say more?

As a Brisbane brekkie institution Gun Shop Café has been on the to do list for a while now. Having heard many a rave review it was with great expectation we visited recently early on a Sunday Morning.<br/><br/>We hadn’t booked and it was still quiet given it wasn’t that long after opening. The food didn’t take too long, there was a slight mix up with the coffees, but the waitress was apologetic for them being forgot, so not really an issue. The food was OK, but really I was expecting more. Both our brekkies were filling and looked nice, but they just lacked a little something in the flavour department. One of the dishes was the potato and feta hash cakes, filling but with mainly just the large hash cakes it was all a bit ‘samey’. It would have been better to have less cakes and add an egg or/and bacon. I know you can add eggs as a side dish but given the price for the hash cakes and the price for the side it would work out pretty pricey to do this way. Our other dish was the Toulouse sausages, a nice dish overall but missing a little sparkle.<br/><br/>Overall a pretty average brekkie, not worth the hype. We would return, but not in a hurry with so many other great breakfast places still to try or return to.
Danielfreshwater77
The cost to portion size was the worst I have seen in a very long time. If the meal tasted great I could understand but it was a normal breakfast you could get in any location for 10-15 dollars.<br/><br/>My suggestion is "don't bother" walk an extra 100mtrs and find another cafe in the area there are heaps in west end.
Misscharlot
this place was so much better in my memory. i have no idea what happened to them, maybe chef changed maybe the cost increase that's why portions are smaller than before and they just want to make the queuing up effect so sometimes they just need us to wait up even i saw free tables ?!
MsK
One of the places that is open on the EKKA show holiday; the line was long but the wait wasn't too bad. Service was average and the wait for food was long. The coffees were watery which was a shame. I ordered the French toast and I found it too oily for my liking.
Marie
I just went to the Gunshop cafe for brunch with a friend and was greatly unimpressed with both the service a food. Our waited was extremely disinterested in serving the customers and never checked back at any stage to see if everything was okay. We waited 50 minutes to be served our meals, only to then be told the second meal had been overlooked and still needed to be plated up... A couple sitting beside us got completely different meals to the ones they ordered. There was no apology offered and anything along those lines... I've never been to this cafe before but I will not be returning or giving it a good name. Definitely don't see what everyone is raving about. Total let down and waste of money.
Gloria
My friend was raving about this place and I also have been wanting to try, but the food wasn't that amazing, and they charge a dollar extra for scrambled eggs?!
Milly
Had the lamb for lunch and it was amazing!! I was surprised to how big the plate was but it was all worth the gains :) We all loved their chips as well!! It was nice and chunky ~ lovedit

I went to the gunshop cafe a couple of weeks ago with a few friends and we all loved it. The food was delicious and the service was just as good. I'd definitely go back!
Bunny
The food and the coffee were delicious. Lamb was perfectly cooked and the chips were nicely seasoned and fresh. <br/>Pasta was full of flavour and pulled lamb really went well with the dish. <br/>Really enjoyed the ice coffee as well

delicious food, served quickly and drinks were just as nice !! cheap and the staff were lovely. good vegetarian options all round and both meals were served nicely. very good x

Saturday morning brekkys out are a rarity for me so when I have the opportunity I like to make the most of them! I met a friend in West End which is filled with lots of cosy coffee shops and cafes. After heavy deliberation we decided to go Gunshop Cafe. The menu is fairly pricey. We both couldn't decide what to get I was tempted by the pork. In the end we both decided on the Avocado Toast served on rye toast with roasted truss tomatoes and labna $16-. And added Two Poached Eggs for a whopping $5.50. The rye was delicious and our meal was presented beautifully.

Went here for breakfast on a Monday morning. The place was well visited but the waiting staff was friendly and fast. The food was pricy ($20 for a breakfast) but absolutely worth it.

I've been meaning to post about Gunshop Cafe for some time, and I knew I had to get a move on when I found out we were also having a blogger dinner at Gunshop. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to post a before blogger dinner and after a blogger dinner ensuring my first review remained unbiased and thought it could provide a good basis for comparison between the two seperate dining occasions. I will be posting about our blogger dinner a day or two afterwards (if I get my butt into gear quick enough!) If you live in Brisbane and like food you will have probably heard of Gunshop Cafe in West End. Gunshop has been a well known breakfast haunt for many years, and more recently enjoyed extra publicity stemming from their Delicious magazine award - the prestigious Australian Cafe of the Year. I know the Brisbane food scene was super excited to have the honour go to a Brisbane based recipient! I had eaten at Gunshop a number of times prior to their awards, but decided to go back a

Disappointing......This is the second time I've taken my family for lunch. The first time there was a comedy of errors. Thankfully (only) one of the staff, Sally, was in tune with our experience and she tried her best to rectify. We just got home from our second try and alas it wasn't much better. Again it was the same lone staff member trying to provide the hospitality......not even the owner showed any interest. Again there were errors with our meals, the pizza was pretty avg and we realised after they overcharged us for our meals.<br/><br/>Being local we love to frequent our local eats, but some are becoming complacent. It seems the endless breakfast lines of 'scene-sters' who come to West End each weekend are driving these pretensions within parts of our community. I'd love to give Gunshop another chance but........<br/>

Lovely old fashioned decor that is nicely contrasted by the modern Australian food. We were here between sittings so just tried some of their excellent cake and a perfect cuppa.

WORST BRUNCH EXPERIENCE = NEVER WILL COME AGAIN. I went to have brunch with my friend yesterday. We ordered the "Chriberg double smoked bacon, Glass House Mountain poached eggs, bella rossa tomatoes, herbed hollandaise, sourdough", potato and feta by itself and the "toulouse sausages, sweet potato & caramelised onion hash, tomato jam, poached egg". It takes about 50 minutes for the food to arrive and 30 minutes for coffee. I mean, at least the coffee would come earlier. The people next to us got their coffee in like under 10 mins. When we asked about the food, the staff is so rude, she asked me what we ordered, when I was about to list our order, she stopped me even when I had not even finished talking, and she said "it will come, it will come". I never been treated like this before. For the first one, the poached egg its okay, but the bread is a bit tough. The potato and feta is pretty okay and I like the sauce to be honest. The sausage is still pink in the middle that you can taste the raw ingredients inside. When we finish the food, less then 30 mins, the waiter instantly told us to pay in the cashier. We wont run away for god sake! and i told her about the sausage she said that's the way it is. It's a pork sausage, it is important to get it perfectly cooked. SUPER NOT WORTH THE PRICE AND YOUR TIME! (sorry about the caps and thanks for this experience gunshop! )

No more. Poor outrageously terrible service- we waited for half an hour for our coffee to find out that they had forgotten as well as the meal we ordered straight after ordering coffee. Meantime we witnessed the next table started and finished their meal, after they left next customers have been serviced too and their coffee was promptly delivered. We were quite patient before but it was the last straw! Moreover, it was happening not for the 1st time which deeply unprofessional. <br/>Certainly, they have lost one of their frequent clients.
Lisa Rich
Went there today. What can I say? The service was poor. We waited 25mins to be seated, ordered straight away only to wait an hour for food and having to ask for our drinks after 30mins. The food was average. The prices are expensive. For the reputation it has, I personally thought it was a let down. Won't go back. There are so many better places to eat.
Laura B
My smoothie came out warm.... The solution they had was to put ice in it which made it watery and not smoothie like. Won't be back any time soon

Hubby and I had a very impressive dinner here last night. My lamb was perfect and the wines were devine. Whenever we come here the menu is interesting and nothing is a hassle for the staff.

Very disappointing. We visited the gun shop cafe today as it has generally been steady go to for good coffee and breakfast. Unfortunately, they've lost there way.<br/><br/>The service was poor, coffee was bad and poorly made and the food was shocking. <br/><br/>The Gun Shop has had a fantastic reputation for years. It seems they've lost their way.

Best brunch in west end. good service. excellent coffee and great food. All wrapped up in a cool location with friendly staff. Not a place for the coffee club crowd, for lovers of fine food and the young at heart.

Disappointing Service. Walked in today were seated promptly, and then promptly ignored. Went and asked for a jug of water after 15mins waiting. The waitress said she would bring over the menu, but after another 15mins, and no mwnu, we walked out.

Amazing food, good service. Don't be fooled by negative reviews, 10/10 for food, great coffee, friendly and attentive service, gorgeous decor and atmosphere. Two friends and I went for breakfast at around 9am on a Tuesday morning, we arrived starving hungry but expecting to wait for a table - but there were plenty free for us to choose from. We ordered coffees when we sat, they arrived in just a few minutes. Our waitress came to check on us three times before we were ready to order (admittedly we were busy chatting and neglected to read the menu immediately), she was attentive without being pushy in the slightest. All meal arrived within 20mins of being ordered. I'm a Brisbane local but this was my first visit to Gunshop, and I can say without a doubt this is the best breakfast I've probably ever had, absolutely fantastic. I had the sautéed swiss brown mushrooms, and added poached eggs and avo, I was so full by the end but finished every bit just because it was so good. My friends both had the bacon eggs and hollandaise and were equally as impressed.<br/>I will definitely be back with my partner when I find the time, and am kicking myself that I hadn't been sooner!

Great breakfast!. Have been to the Gunshop a couple of times, and both times the food has been really good! On my most recent visit we went there for breakfast and I order Smoked Salmon with poached eggs, pickled beetroot and sour dough. It tasted amazing and the eggs were cook perfectly! Yum, definitely a must try for anyone who like quality breakfast.
Hello
Good food terrible service. After waiting a long time at the door and not being even acknowledged we were eventually seated. This cafe seems to pride itself in being elitist and treating people like crap. Food orders were slow. They brought food and forgot cutlery. To get their attention in order to get cutlery took two attempts. They spilt food on the floor and never came to clean it up. No one offered us second drinks. All this, and they were not that busy. This is about the 5th time I've been here and every time I am disappointed by what I expect should be a good experience. There are so many great places in west end, the gunshop cafe is completely overrated.
Madi23
Not horrible but not good. Three brunch dishes took forever and were average, small portioned, cold, poorly presented. Overpriced for what we received too. Bloody Mary's were not good either. Service was okay though. My dish came 8 mins after the other two also and could tell it had been rushed.

Disappointing.... Oh gunshop. I am so very disappointed. You used to be one of our favourites. 3 years ago I came with my boyfriend on our second date and had the best breakfast. We have been back several times since then and we thought for my birthday last week we would drive in and have a lazy breakfast in the sun. We sat out the back and someone came up and took our coffee order. About 15 minutes later they came up and took our food order... and that was the last i saw of anyone coming to serve us. People that came in 40-50 minutes after us started getting their food. We were starving and angry. You come for breakfast to eat breakfast!!! We ended up leaving and when we asked at the counter if our orders went in he said... what orders??!!! Poor Poor Poor service... wont be back and wont be telling my friends to go either...

Absolutely over-rated! My f.... Absolutely over-rated!<br/>My friend went there and had a good experience, so they insist to take me there for their awesome breakfast. However, not impressed at all! Very sure I can find better bacon and egg with toasted bread somewhere else with a nice warm welcome and friendly service. They must be very confident about all the good ravings so the cooking is kind of laking and the service is just not there. Waited for more than 15 minutes for someone to notice us then to take the order; the pretty waitress looks not happy and overworked already at 8.00am! Another 20 minutes later, the coffee is up and is the wrong order. They dont even know what coffee they are serving?! Yet again, pretty waitress bluntly told us, 'you got it wrong! this is what you ordered.' My breakfast is such a let down, the poached eggs just about 20 seconds away to be hard boiled eggs;when I asked for exchange, the lovely waiter kindly told me that I didnt stated I want 'soft poached eggs'. I mean..seriously?! The second poached eggs are not any better, with mightly taste of vinegar, I have to entirely give up on this bacon and egg on toast. I dont know whats the fuss about this place for breakfast, but I am so disappointed, dont think I will take any of my friend to try them in the future.
Alessandra Valverde
I've never been so disappointed when it comes to food. We waited for an hour and a half for our food to arrive. If you have such a long wait period you shouldn't seat more people in.
Rcjlmcph
Starving!. Service- staff were pleasant and polite but it took over an hour to get our main meals and nearly 30 mins to get a lemon grass tea!<br/>Food- was good although having waited over an hour you'd have thought the chips would have been hot.<br/>Cost - reasonable<br/>Ambience - poor<br/>Don't think we will be going back. This restaurant s reputation seems over rated. Some of my party had been twice before and the same experience.

Great casual Sunday lunch and beer. We stumbled upon the Gunshop Cafe for a late lunch on Sunday. It was quite late for lunch - 2:15 - but we were nevertheless welcomed heartily by the host. We ordered the lamb burger and bottles of Moo Brew - a delicious beer from Tasmania. The staff were incredibly friendly and quick, even though they were cleaning up at the end of the service and about to close for the day. Will definitely return again: nice food, nice atmo, good, friendly service.
Ben Brett
Amazing food, excellent service, great atmosphere. They have nailed atmosphere and food, but what blows me away about this place is that the service is always great. The staff are laid back, friendly and helpful. Check this place out for breakfast and dinner

I like Gunshop Cafe but was disappointed in one dish. Went to Gunshop Cafe for a very late brekkie at nearly midday. We had organic sourdough (3 pieces) to share - a great starter if you and your friends are hungry (given the relatively smaller portion at Gunshop) and make sure you choose the homemade honey (so good)! We also had banana and mixed berry smoothies - and I was so pleased to know that they were made with Barambah organic yoghurt. I had the Mooloolaba spanner crab spanner omelette which was very tasty but was not exactly what I expected. To me, it is a Japanese fusion dish - the crab meat was fresh but was not much...it comes with Japanese seaweed salad, soya sauce and something that tasted like sour cream to me. Not the traditional sort of omelette!<br/><br/>The disappointment was with my boyfriend who had the ocean trout eggs benedit. The home-cured ocean trout had some sort of strange vanilla flavour and it was absolutely tasteless! The look and texture were fine, but it had no flavour at all. He could not even finish half of it! If you don't like the taste of seafood and still want to pay for an overpriced ocean trout eggs benedit dish, you might like this dish though......would definitely try something else next time (but not in a hurry to go back)!

Disappointed. I'd been wanting to try Gunshop Cafe for a while as I had heard so many good things about it, but I was pretty disappointed. I ordered the potato and feta cakes on recommendation from a few friends, and they were nice but a bit bland, and they were served with about 5 spinach leaves and the roasted tomatoes, which were tasty. I got a side of scrambled eggs, pretty overpriced at $5.50, and they were terrible, overcooked, and had the texture of an omelette. I really, really wanted to love Gunshop Cafe but I won't be going back in a hurry.

What's wrong at the gun shop. Cheerful and helpful wait staff no doubt could feel my displeasure at having to wait an hour for my meal which was cold when it eventually reached the table. Won't be back in a hurry.<br/><br/><br/>-----14 Jun, 2014-----<br/><br/>What's wrong at the gun shop. Excellent food, excellent service and atmosphere. Would recommend.

Disappointing. We went there for breakfast to receive the most overpriced and underwhelming serve of bacon and eggs I have ever seen. Some of the other meals looked better.
Bella
Excellent food and service. The waitstaff were doing their utmost best to keep everyone happy and serve food/clear tables under very busy (and likely stressful) conditions. Coffee was tasty and the potato and feta hash cake was divine! Would dine again.

Maybe it was a bad day, maybe they're trading on past glory. I've been to the Gunshop Cafe before, although it has been a while. In the past I've had excellent breakfast and fantastic late night supper consisting of one the cheese board selections. Today we went and had a disappointing experience. The service was polite and helpful, but slow and disorganized, at one point there was a at least five minute wait between the delivery of two iced coffees ordered at the same time. As for the food, we shared a main and a dessert, had two coffees and two iced coffees. The main was the Wagyu beef burger, which consisted of a spiced patty that was good, with a slice of average halloumi cheese, a melted cheese that was tasty but nothing special, two slices of lettuce and a slice of tomato on an average white bread roll. Overall it was okay, not bad, but a long way from the standard of meal you'd expect for $24-50. Especially given that there are now plenty of good to great burger options around town and the suburbs. <br/><br/>The flat white was nice and the long black was hot and strong, but had coffee grit floating in it. The dessert which was a flourless cake that was again okay, but served with a very tasty peanut butter icecream and salted caramel which was also quite good, so overall the dessert was okay to good. Which at $13-50 is what you come to expect these days, good but not great. <br/><br/>We also had an iced coffee each and they were terrible. Weak, warm not iced or even cold with icecream dropped into the mix. It was essentially a weak, tepid flat white with two scoops of icecream; the not quite warm milk left me queasy for about half an hour afterwards. <br/><br/>So in summary, slow and inefficient service of food and drinks that ranged from terrible to okay to good, for a grand total of about $60 (no starters, 1 main, 1 dessert and four non-alcoholic drinks). I don't know if it was a bad day, it didn't seem as busy as it normally is, so I'm not sure what the problem was today. <br/><br/>It's been a few years since I've been to the Gunshop, mostly the long ques have put me off and after today, it will be a long time before I go back.
GardenGal
Great service & great food. Very busy on Saturday mornings / lunches. But great service. Plenty of seating out the back, so don't be deterred by the full tables out front. Food servings are medium (which is a nice change from the default "massive" servings Brisbane seems to be sliding towards). Quality is great. And service couldn't be better. But then, you do pay for it.
Tkzjg
Cool Courtyard atmosphere.. Love sitting out here on a sunny day eating their great great food.
Annerley
Still the one. So tired of rocking up to the "latest" funky cafe only to be served a breakfast that is disappointing, especially if your the one in charge of choosing! Today I chose the Gunshop because like high end Ecco and Restaurant II it never fails to make you happy.<br/>Whats my indicators? The staff like their jobs, and they go out of their way to make your experience great, the orders are taken soon enough and drinks brought straight away, the menu is interesting enough that you struggle to decide and best of all it tastes yummo! One other thing, it's so enjoyable the price never enters the conversation that's a true mark of a good experience.<br/>Smoked haddock with bombay potatoes and poached egg YUM, french toast, candied pecans, bacon and banana YUM Potato hash browns....YUM Gunshop delivers, happy days.

Ok food. Went there for a brunch....when we got there, there is already big line waiting outside....waited for about 10min and got a table and looked around saw a few empty table around inside. Not sure why they didn't get people to sit on those empty table....<br/>Food was ok, nothing very special....a little bit overpriced.
Brenda
Terrible service redeemed by great food! Ignored at the door by 3 staff, coffee took ages and the waitress in the back section was rude, distracted and generally unhelpful to everyone.. Food was lovely though..
Facebook User
Overpriced and terrible service!. Staff were oblivious and left a line up outside while there were empty tables all around waiting to be cleared. While the food has some redeeming flavours, it is overpriced and charges for extras are ridiculous! $6.50 for tiny extras.. And coffee is terrible<br/>Try elsewhere. Not worth it
Loverfood886
Food and service. We went there for brunch. Everything was absolutely good. Recommend this one!!

$9.50 for GF toast that was sickly sweet. Burnt coffee. I wouldn't recommend it to glutards. Go to Plenty.
Eimmik
Generally busy on a Sunday morning. Table service - I was the only person standing at the door and a few waitstaff ignored me and walked past without looking me in the eye. A guy behind the coffee counter kindly said they won't be long. Only the maître d could acknowledge greet us in apparently. Food - can't go wrong with the Toulouse sausages. Wouldn't recommend visiting on a 30+ degree day though! The outside courtyard is lovely but quite warm for a hot day so we just ate and got out of there as fast as possible.

Always delivers. I've never been disappointed so far. Well sourced fresh ingredients and creative menu. Relaxed yet efficient service. One of my favourite places for brunch.

Went here for dinner tonight. The best dinner out I can remember and certainly the best in brisbane. The food is definitely worth the price and the service was great. Very friendly and helpful. Would definitley return to try out the breakfast!
Hyronomas
Simply remarkable! The boys out the front run a smooth and personable service that makes you feel as tho you are a guest in their home. The real magic, however; comes out of that tiny kitchen! Zucchini and crab fritters with perfectly done scallops, amazingly moist pork loin with some of the best gnocchi I've had in Oz and the chicken was as surprisingly complex as it was delicious. I wish I could dine in again tonight!
Jamakinmehungry
Overpriced and overrated. Heard good reviews about The Gunshop Cafe so I went to try it for lunch one day with my friend. In terms of the ingredients used, definitely fresher and more "exotic" than the average cafe but way too overpriced for what you receive. Ordered the lite prawn salad as I was not willing to pay so much for the larger meal being not so hungry anyway but I still had high expectations, that was until I received my plate. A pretty plate definitely, but an average salad I probably could have made at home at less than half the price.. nothing special. My friends meal was the sticky chicken and she had the same reaction as I did with my dish. One thing I can say was the service was friendly and the layout was something different, but would not go back.

Gunshop Cafe - West End, Brisbane. The Gunshop Cafe has been a well-known institution not only in West End, but in the whole of Brisbane for quite some time. All this time, I had known about the Gunshop Cafe yet had not ever gotten around to eating at it. This was my first time; somehow I knew eventually I would have to get to it with how renowned their breakfasts are. It has received laurels from numerous publications as well as awards. The question is, is it worth going to? What I would say is basically yes. <br/><br/>I was meeting up with my friend and he thought of trying out somewhere in West End. It was only with a glimpse out of the corner of my eye that I saw some spare tables. From the outside, it does not actually look like much. There are a few tables on the pavement and you can see a couple of rooms inside. From many times beforehand, I had seen a line of people out the door so this golden walk-in opportunity was for the taking. <br/><br/>We were in for a surprise when walking to ask for a table. One of the waitresses walked us through the cafe, then out into what looked like a courtyard then there was a specially placed table under a gazebo after a bit of table clearing and cleaning. The aesthetics and vibe were then fantastic; it is hard to believe that somewhere so starkly known in an inner-city suburb would have a relaxing and secluded area out the back amongst plants and running water fountains. <br/><br/>As usual with breakfast places, there were the coffee orders within the minute of sitting down. Similarly, as usual I knew my order before sitting down: the double cappuccino. They used a Merlo blend. It was not a bad coffee, if with the flavour being somewhat astringent. The crema on the cappuccino was perfectly formed. <br/><br/>For the main part of the meal, I got a fish dish where the name eludes me for now. Essentially is was a trout mixture akin to pate (served cold) served with a soft-boiled egg and a salad consisting of beetroot, rocket and cornichons with a side of sourdough toast. While the toast could have been cooked a little more, the rest of the meal was pretty good - though outside of what I would normally eat, and that is a good thing as eating all sorts of foods is part of eating out. Each ingredient was fresh, and they all had their own different flavour and taste to them. <br/><br/>Here is where the service gets the mention. It is some lovely and attentive service, not to mention persistent. Even during eating the meal, they go beyond asking how things are and asking if there is anything else wanted. At one point, I was nearly done with my coffee and had noted an unusual milkshake flavour so requested one of those. The special was a mixture of salted caramel, peanut butter and banana.<br/>This was served in a glass mug. The combinations worked a lot really well and was a good, cold finish to the meal. <br/><br/>While many other competitors nearby might overall surpass the Gunshop Cafe, there are a couple of aspects that it offers that are rarities in the area. There is open space out the back, the breakfasts are inventive and offer different dishes for the adventurous It has some great service and decor, and is worth checking out for any Brisbane citizen.

Best Breakfast In Brisbane. Without a doubt this is the best place to get breakfast in Brisbane. Ive never written a review on a restaurant before but i made an exception because i love this place. The food is amazing and the service is spectacular. Do not hesitate to go here.

Veg-friendly. The potato & feta hash cake dish is easily the best vegetarian breakfast I've eaten out. 100% recommend.
K
Good breakfast. Got the meatballs, flavorsome, egg cooked well, tidy presentation and good amount of food for breakfast, sourdough was a bit on the bland side but life goes on. Waiters friendly and serving time was reasonable considering how busy the place was. Love the decor, bit of this, bit of that, relaxed outdoosy feel to it. I don't feel like the meals are overly expensive, $16 for breakfast for something other than your standard bacon and eggs is fine and in line with what other places around Brisbane would charge. Juice was a bit on the small side.
J
Gone down. Having been a recent visitor to the gunshop for many years, I had talked it up to my friend who hadn't been. We went for breakfast and we both ordered the same - salmon with poached eggs.<br/>The coffee took ages to arrive, in fact the food arrived first. I ordered a Piccolo which was served as a small amount in a huge glass. The coffee was bitter and disappointing. The poached eggs were rock hard - had obviously sat on the bench as they were almost cold as well.<br/>We suggested to the staff that perhaps the owners could consider changing coffee brands as ours was very bitter - and their response was to agree with us.<br/>Won't be rushing back.

Probably my favourite place in Brisbane for breakfast so far

Best Place for Breakfast on the Southside. I love this place - its an aladdins cave once you go in - huge area out the back for seating, the food is amazing - you need to go early to get a seat on the weekend - go for Brekkie on Saturday then love walking down to the West End Markets

Great bfast experience. We came here on sunday for breakfast as we had never been here before and wanted to try it out. We ordered cappacino which was awesome with just enough foam on top and the chocolate powder was soooooo good! I had the eggs benny and they rank very high on my eggs benny list as i have tried them at many locations!!! Even though it was very busy the service was quick the meals/coffee hot and the staff absolutely lovely :) will def come back here again!!!!!!

Good Breakfast, Not so Good Lunch. Breakfast (Weekend) - One of the best places i have been for breakfast, it was so busy and the line to get in was huge! however we sat down ordered within 2 minutes of being seated our coffees and within 3 minutes had the coffees and ordered our food, within 10 minutes our food was served, it was crazy how organised they were! i couldnt believe it myself! so service was outstanding, food was delicious would definietly go back! if i had a negative it would be that it is pretty loud inside.<br/><br/>Lunch (Weekday)- The complete opposite, we had about 8 people at the table, and we ordered pretty quickly however we were left waiting for about 45 minutes for our food and we waited 25 minutes just for our drinks! the service was really bad, the food was pretty crap for the price! <br/><br/>I would not go for lunch but it is a must for breakfast!

Wolf Trash. Went to the gunshop today off the back of an urbanlist post (best benedict in brisbane), was absolute trash. Cold poached eggs with runny whites, a mcdonalds style serving of bacon, unbuttered sour dough. Cold tasteless roasted tomato and to top it off the smallest squirt of overly salty hollandaise. Friend had fetta potato cakes - basically $20 worth of crumbed bland mashed potato and half a tomato. $5.50 for a side of avo.<br/>Best I can say is the coffee was nice took, 2 minutes to come gave us something to do while we waited half hour for the food.

Great for Weight loss!. I have been a faithful Gunshop customer for years now and have always thought the food was amazing and generously portioned. <br/><br/>This morning for breakfast, I paid $16.90 for the 'Paleo Granola' and was shocked to find ONE heaped tablespoon of granola spread accross a plate with a dollop of yoghurt and a mango cheek. The meal took me about 10 minutes to finish (and I was pacing myself), and left me feeling unsatisfied and irritatated. I had to order the avo on toast to fill me up (ONE PIECE!) piled with cheese and avo (enough for three pieces). <br/><br/>Very very disappointing, Gunshop! Get your act together.

They got nothing right. I went there for breakfast today and they got nothing right. I asked about their coffee. I said I wanted an extra flat, flat white in a mug. I asked if they had proper mugs. I said I didn't want a large cup or a bowl of coffee as I like my coffee hot. They said they did. Well, they didn't. Their "mug" is a large cup. I asked for it to be put in a takeaway cup so it would retain its heat. That never happen but I was still charged for a coffee that I didn't order. I also ordered lamb chops and a side of toast. They served me sausages instead of the lamb chops. I told them what I ordered. They then went back and cooked me what I ordered. By the time my ordered meal arrived, everyone else had eaten. I sent the toast back when I received it with the sausages. I said I wanted my toast served hot, when I got the meal I ordered. 2 minutes later they gave me the toast again. Again I explained I wanted my toast served hot with my meal, like everyone else does. I eventually got my meal and toast. My coffee never arrived. Worst restaurant experience ever.

Good food, good service. Went for dinner with my husband a while ago and had a very good time. The food was truly yummy (I thought my lasagna was cold, they agreed and promptly got me a new one and also gave a portion of side veggies), staff are professional and nice and the place looks great. Will be back for sure.

Top service. We had a fabulous experience . Great food excellent service. Great team. Very friendly.

Went there with a friend on a busy Saturday morning, I was very keen to go as I only read excellent reviews.<br/>The menu was a bit disappointing as there was not a huge choice.<br/>I went for the prawn omelette with a seaweed salad and some bread and my friend ordered the avo on toast.<br/>The service was good and the food was nice but portions were way too small for their prices.<br/>I paid 19.5$ for my prawn omelette and it was honestly as big as two sushi rolls. The so called bread was actually bread crumbs even though the waitress told me it was like a pita bread.<br/>And my friend only had two small pieces of sourdough with slices of avo and seal salt.<br/>Don't get me wrong the food was tasty but there's not enough to eat...<br/>The table next to us ordered another dish after their first.<br/>A nice place to go to if you don't mind spending 20 dollars for a "snack" breakie type.

Food ok but not worth the wait or the price.. Coffee wasn't anything to rave about either
Saha
Not phased. A big let down!<br/><br/>Firstly, after waiting 40 minutes for our coffees, we asked a staff member where they were. Her response was "we are very busy and they will be coming soon!". As she went to abruptly walked off, we quickly mentioned that all the tables around us ordered after us and had received theirs. She was then quick to apologise and check our coffee. Turns out they had forgotten to write them down.<br/><br/>Secondly, I discovered floaties in my water glass - disgusting!<br/><br/>Thirdly - The meals weren't even that great.<br/><br/>There is a large range of choices in West End and I will not be returning to this cafe.
Sarah Kingsbury
Wrong!. My friend read my post and reminded me that my tian was to have included gazpacho, which it quite obviously didn't. I was just focused on catching up on seeing someone I had not seen for 4 years. So Gunshop how do you explain the hummous?<br/><br/><br/>-----19 Sep, 2013-----<br/><br/>Well done again!. I was early, and my friend was late, but I was treated very well for the 45 minutes I sat there! Followed by speedy friendly service and tasty food. Never been disappointed!
JD
Wasn't too impressed seeing as I've heard good things. Initial staff member that sat me was unwelcoming and coffee nothing to rave about. Good little setup though but won't recommend
Mz
Good coffee and tasty menu !

Fabulous sea food meal! Yum. Fresh clean flavours. Friendly service. Only down side was dirty cutlery and glassware
Poppy
Yum. Lovely service whenever i'm here with friends! although i think the portion sizes have gone down, the food is still beautiful nonetheless and the hash cakes are to die for.
Alison
Good Food really BAD SERVICE. We have been dining here for quite a few years now but its a while since we were last here. Getting a table on a Saturday night without a reservation was always unlikely but last Saturday the place was more than half empty. Now we understand why. The service is terrible and the staff don't care. Our drinks were given to another table, my partner was brought the wrong meal. He ordered bouillabaisse but was brought chicken. When he pointed this out he was brought mussels. When he pointed that out he was eventually brought the correct order which was by then cold. He just out up with that.<br/>I had asked about one of the wines on the wine lust as it was one I am not familiar with. The response was it is sweet and dry. <br/>The food was very good as it always has been but we will not go back because of the terrible service and the staff just don't care that hey get it wrong.
Pandh10
Average and Expensive. Went here for breakfast on a weekday.<br/>Food took ages to come... but it wasn't busy at all.<br/>It tasted alright but I think it's too expensive, considering it would taste exactly the same but cost much less, not to mention a larger portion.
Jeff Locke
Very scrumptious, def will return as there was too much to choose from, wanted to come here for awhile but always too busy, now I know what all the fuss is about, well done, oh and great service with a smile

We went here on our lunch break on Friday and were disappointed with everything except the coffee (which was really good!). <br/>As we were in a hurry, we ordered the club sandwiches thinking that they would arrive quickly. We thought wrong. The sandwiches took an aaaage to arrive and, judging by the now cold, chewy toast sitting before us, it was obvious these flaccid excuses for food had been sitting around for quite a while.<br/>I really would like to say that, despite the obvious age and the resultant sloppy texture of our 'meals', we were then overwhelmed by a unique and orgasmic medley of flavours - which is what one might expect in a $22 chicken sandwich - but sadly we were not. The food was disappointing in every respect, and the $22 price being asked for such crap is nothing short of insulting.<br/>If you want anything more than a good cup of coffee, go somewhere else.

This place is usually good.... I have been here for a few times for lunch, and meals and service have been really good.<br/><br/>Dropped in on the weekend for breakfast with a friend... usual line out the front... no worries as I am prepared to wait for good (value) food / atmosphere / and service. <br/><br/>Although we did not get much of this good (value) food component. Two of us had a breakfast of something like oats / muesli with fig's, strawberry's, and sweet honey goats cheese which sounded good on the 'specials board'... wrong, tiny tiny portion of basic ingredients scattered over a dinner plate for a premium price. Meh! Minor complaint, but the wait staff said they could not swap the sweet goats cheese for yogurt for my pregnant wife (who cant eat goats cheese), as last time she asked the chef to do this "he got really mad at for making changes on a Sunday"!? WTF!? All the chef had to do is put a spoon in a different container while plating up the meal. The coffee was meh also...<br/><br/>Lucky the company was good, as was the atmosphere and service for the most part. But the food was not so great... wont be rushing back for breakfast.
Beezy
Had a lovely meal here tonight - they actually forgot my main in the group order but it was handled really well and I wasn't disappointed when the food came out - between my partner and I we experienced the scallops, quail, barramundi and duck - all very nice with beautiful classic flavours. The staff were great - the girl looking after our group was really attentive and genuinely friendly. Would definitely come back!
Five Dollar Shake
Food was lovely, and I would of asked the wait staff to compliment the chef but unfortunately none of the wait staff could be bothered talking to me, or anyone in my party.
Clare Ellen
Worst service of any cafe I've been to, and average food, with a high price tag. Every time I've been staff have been rude and unhelpful. Wouldn't recommend to anyone, ever.
Jliz
Below Average. Breakfast here for a friends birthday in May was made unpleasant due to waitstaff that were "too cool" to provide decent service or even remember to bring back coffee we ordered 30 minutes previously. Food is overpriced and only 3 out of 10 or so people were truly satisfied with their meals (the most expensive seemed to be the best option if you want a decent meal). Luckily the company of friends made up for the restaurants misgivings. Won't be returning.
Food Lover 101
This is a quaint little cafe. It is quite busy but not noisy. The food is good. The service is good but slow. <br/><br/>The staff also need to be a little more knowledgeable about their products. <br/><br/>Overall a great experience and I will be back.
Cam
Worst service in Brisbane.
Kim
Below average. I dined here on a Monday morning, it wasn't too busy and I was seated promptly. I ordered a latte, it took about 10 minutes and looked awful. I then ordered the potato and feta hash cakes with a side of haloumi. The hash cakes are delicious however the haloumi was burnt and inedible. When I went to pay the lady asked me how everything was and I said it was pretty average. Her response was non existent. I really like the food here, its a shame its let down by the terrible coffee and the poor service.
Platy0217
Outstanding. Great food, great staff, excellent wine list - the passion shines through. Well done everyone!
Ivan_bosnjak
Breakfast. Food was awesome, however, i thought the black pudding was too sweet and bland, but then i dont know if its possible to get good black pudding in australia
Christopher Alex Pavlidis Garkinis
Nice!. Very much reminded me of a place in Melbourne; awesome atmosphere, nice courtyard in the back, cool lighting, chilled staff. We went there for desert and they ones we ordered were amazing; a coffee inspired Pana-cotta was Quite nice, considering I don't usually like Coffee flavoured deserts. And my Bred & Butter Pudding with Salted Caramel was to die for...Simply Superb! Rich...Flavoursome...perfect texture...mixed in with the oozy Caramel and Great vanilla ice-cream. I would definatelty come back next time for Lunch/dinner! :)
Alison M
Went here with some girlfriends on weekend, avo on toast w/ Labna was tasty as was the side of bacon but for &23? Adding bacon was $6.50... Bit of a wait but it was packed so to be expected, probably won't return for a while as plenty of others just as good & far cheaper.
Jeremy Gardiol
Went on a Sunday but the line was out the door so didn't try it. Went back on Monday when it was quiet. Soy latte was below par probably due to non premium soy milk. I had the bacon poached eggs tomatoes and spinach. Let me start with what was good, the cherry tomatoes were beautiful and tasty. Now to the bad, the poached eggs were over cooked, the bacon while tasting very nice had a price of bone/gristle in it that nearly chipped my tooth and the spinach was almost non existent, I only got 3 non cooked leaves!!! I expected a lot more for the price and rating.
Henry
Dont queue for breaky here!!! <br/>We went to the Gun Shop this morning for breakfast & it was very average... Considering this is meant to be one of 'the places' to have breakfast in Brisbane I expected more .<br/> My husband is allergic to eggs yet they were unwilling to swap them for another side of the same value leaving his breakfast to be very small (yet charging full price) - my French toast was ok, though the banana was hard.. Unsure what had happened to it ...along with mediocre food, There was broken glass in the garden and all over the courtyard floor .. My reccomendation is to go elsewhere for breaky .. Other places do it better - these guys are trading on reputation alone!
Bruce Carnwell
Dinner last night before the play 'Red' (brilliant btw). Staff were great, food & wine perfect. Prices are now more $30-$36 main now.
Info
Rude staff. Over 10 years I have yet to have a pleasant experience here. Are the wait staff trained to be rude? Over priced for average food. Rather stay home and cook breakfast.
Chris Avebury
Kind of disappointing. My bf and I spontaneously decided to have dinner at the Gunshop Cafe one night. Unfortunately the two of us are Vegetarian and the Gunshop Cafe really does not offer one single vegetarian dish on its menu (if you don't count bread or olives...). We asked for meat-free options and got two alright dishes. Kinda small sized and bland for its price.<br/>To sum it up: no veggie options on the menu, not too friendly staff, bland food, high prices.
Minamiy
Friday night. My bf has never been there before. So We decided to go there. I told him it will be great food. Unfortunately I was kind a disappointed. I am sure they have changed menu since I have been there ages ago. However menu was all average. Nothing is exciting. I won't be back though...
Maia Keerie
Just a bit average. We live 100m from Gunshop and continue to bypass it on our morning quest for breakfast. We've given it a try from time to time but each time, we're reminded why we don't go - it's just pretty average. The menu looks like it has potential but the flavours on the plate just don't hit the spot - just a bit average. And it's no cheap breakfast which is tough to take when you're dissatisfied. Also, we've been left waiting to be seated for an unreasonable amount of time despite there being 3 free tables just near us - they were just taking their sweet time to clear them and seat us.
RE
Underwhelming to say the least. The venue and decore are great and staff are (mostly) friendly but the coffee was burnt - and they got our coffee orders wrong. The breakfast menu has a lot of variety but our food was very average (and definitely overpriced for what it was) - french toast was dry and burnt, the caramelised banana was hard and chalky and two breakfast's came out without toast as specified on the menu. After 2 underwhelming visits and with so many more good breakfast options in Brisbane, I won't be going back.
Marinab
Expected more... Location, great. Decor and atmosphere, good. Food, ok but a bit overpriced for what you receive. Extensive breakfast menu is impressive. <br/>Had to line up for a table as they don't take reservations for breakfast on a Sunday, was it worth waiting? I'm not completely convinced..<br/>Sorry guys. Services was just ok, and my water had floaties..won't be rushing back.

Resting on it's laurels?. Once upon a time the Gunshop ruled Brisbane. But Brisbane's cafe scene has been dragged into the new decade and as such i think GS is in danger of letting it's reputation overshadow results. I don't want to be a downer -- credit is due in places. The venue is well-planned, with the outdoor seating particularly appealing. The breakfast menu is diverse and items such as sautéed greens are a fresh alternative to hash cakes and french toast. In contrast the lunch menu is too heavy and could do with some less substantial options. With pork belly being the lightest lunch dish, well, a salad or two would be welcomed. Coffee here is way to milky for me, even a small double shot lacks oomph. Service is inconsistent -- some friendly faces but a few surly ones too. Yesterday was almost comical with missing menu items "we had a wedding yesterday" and "we're waiting for the fish delivery to turn up". I almost felt sorry for the waiter -- he was the messenger boy for some poor restaurant management. If the Gunshop wants to stay ahead of its competition (e.g. JamJar, Comfort at My Table) I believe some menu tweaks and service improvements are needed.
Glomeshgirl
Had dinner and the food was very good. The share plate had interesting things like yummy baked figs, stuffed zucinni flowers and fat green olives stuffed with goats cheese. All the mains were great, well cooked and flavored. Service was the only weak point, they seemed a bit overwhelmed as it was a busy night.

This is my favourite place to have breakfast in Brizzy! I have never been disappointed with this place, staff, location and food are all amazing! I would particularly recommend the potato and feta hash cakes, absolutely divine! I would have no problem recommending this delightful cafe to anyone! Will be back for sure!
Michael Dunn
Great breakfast w lots of variety, particularly if looking for something apart from standard eggs. We had tropical fruit w fresh honeycomb and fig and apricot fruit toast. Both excellent. Coffee was good.
Mingy
Great breakfast. Was very impressed when I recently I had breakfast at the gunshop cafe, well worth the wait and will be back soon,
Alisa Southworth
Catch Up. I was here to catch up with an old friend and the food was nice! Iv'e enjoyed nicer food at other cafe's but all menu items are still quite pleasing.
Babycino Porter
Bad risotto. Went for lunch with a friend, he had the chicken lasagne and I got the mushroom risotto. The chicken lasagne was apparently very nice, but my risotto was...crunchy. <br/>Not al dente, crunchy. <br/>I spent some time picking out the mushroom chunks and hoping that somebody would come to check on us (or even make some form of eye contact) but nobody did. After my friend finished his food we gave up on the service and went to the counter. After being told our bill total, I brought up the fact that my food had been very undercooked. The staff member spoke to the kitchen and a manager, and the risotto was completely taken off the bill. <br/><br/>I would probably return, because I think the whole thing was very well-handled (once it was brought to their attention), and I hear the food is normally amazing, but it was still quite disappointing for a first visit.
Natalie Harris
Highly recommend the dinner service. I have been to the Gunshop three times - once for breakfast, another for lunch and the last time for dinner. Everyone always talks about the Gunshop as the place to go for breakfast and I would definitely agree, but it's dinner service is fantastic! I had the fillet mignon, my partner and his sister had the emu and another friend had soup and it was simply fantastic. A waiter named Sean was extremely helpful and even gave us a free entree so that we could taste one of the kitchen's new creation. The Gunshop's dinner service is something that people should do. It's also not that busy at night which is quite nice but of course I would always recommend booking in advance.
Gman
I had poached eggs bacon in herbed holandaise sauce on sour dough was very overpriced and cold, good atmosphere and my tea was very weak
Paul Lange
Great breakfast, pretentious service at times but the food makes it worth it. Stay clear on weekends as the cue detracts from the mall. Try and get a table out in the courtyard
Terenceheng
Good. Nice atmosphere ! Nice duck breast as main !
Jenna Tan
Loved it, will come back!. It was raining hard and there was a line but the waitress managing the seating was spectacular . Really friendly, massive smile on her face and so polite. Service was quick, they asked for coffee orders as soon as we sat down. The selections were sensational, lamb cutlets for breakfast?? Fantastic :). Food was tops as was the atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Sharleen Sticklen
Basics are overpriced and the service does not compensate. Why there is a queue to get in is beyond me... Coffee is average. Plenty of other good options in West End.
Sophia Ward
Vey much enjoyable dinner. Only waited 2minutes for a table with no booking on a busy night. Within 30 seconds of ordering our food was bought to us and it looked amazing! The lamb charcoal dinner that I had ($22) was divine and worth spending a little extra. Yum!
Ann
SAD. I was a bit disappointed by my last visit to the GS Cafe. My previous meals have all been amazing and this one was just OK. Normally their gnocchi is to die for, the best I have had, even better than in Italy. This time the gnocchi was doughy The duck was moist but the flavors were nothing to write home about. The desert was very disappointing. Our handsome waiter deserted us after he took our order and left me dying of thirst. I only managed to get two glasses of wine (nearly had to tackle him to get those) the entire night and we were there for a considerable amount of time. At the end of the night I told the waiter about my disappointment, mainly relating to the disgusting desert, but he didn't seem to care less.
Nick_Pistachio
Presented well, good decor and that's about it. Stopped in for after dinner drinks and cheese, exceptionally slow service, slow stubborn service. Elements from cheese platters not on the plate, when questioned they gave us no reply, just a dirty look. Service in the service industry is vital. Far better options available elsewhere.
Peter Larter
Terrible service. We arrived at 1130am.and were given menus by one waiter. After 20 minute another waiter came to take our order but said we could.only order drinks because the breakfast menu was closed but the lunch menu was.not yet open. Pardon? So we decided to go somewhere else.
Ashleigh
West End favourite. Having moved to Melbourne in Feb this year, I have to say the Gunshop cafe is somewhere I usually make time to visit when in West End. The food is delicious, the staff usually quite friendly and the decor is lovely. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the coffee and think they should switch to a specialty brand as there are many micro roasteries in Brisbane, but if you feeling hungry, it is definitely a place to make time for.
Meatpieandsauce
Very inattentive staff, and a very long wait for any food to come up, even bread and dips took 30mins to come out, let along the actual meal. Unimpressed
Scotgirl
Great breakfast but get there early. My husband and I arrived around 7.30am for breakfast, a good move as it was getting busy by around 8am. The breakfast menu had a lot of interesting things on it making it difficult to choose, however I opted for the potato and feta hash cakes with herbed soured cream (beautifully balanced) and oven roasted tomatoes and hubbie had the double smoken bacon, poached egggs and herbed hollandaise. Both breakfasts were generous portions and tasted absolutely wonderful.Service was prompt and polite with little waiting time between arrival, ordering and service. We loved the location with the brick walls and funky decor and will definately be back when we're in the area. Best breakfast for some time.
AT
Way over rated. Plenty of other places with good brekkies. Long queues and expensive.
Georgia Carter
Both time that i have been here they have either forgotten out order or gotten it wrong ! Good food but they are so busy they dont know were there arses are on weekends !

Sunday Brunch. This is a great little place for brunch, it gets quite full, the breakfast food is really delightful. Love the vibe, service is friendly and accommodating. Sometimes parking can be an issue.

Casual Friday Dinner. I received a gift card as a gift for Gunshop Cafe which is why my partner and I decided to try it out. It was amazing!! We both agreed it has been our favorite dinner in Brisbane so far. We have lived here for 9 months and have had many disappointing and expensive dinners. Gunshop Cafe has an amazing atmosphere that is casual, cozy and romantic. The staff were very helpful with my partners multiple questions and to top it off it is a BYO place with an $8.50 corkage fee. My partner and I shared the venison and the duck. They were both fantastic but the venison blew our minds. Couldnt ask for a better restaurant. We will definitely be back. One downside to our dinner was that the music system was broken.
Nickdisco72
Over-priced and bland. Since I have an aversion to queues, I hadn't made it to the Gunshop Cafe for breakfast before. I presumed it must be good because so many people queued every weekend to have breakfast there. I finally made it today - too early for queues - and wish I hadn't bothered. The potato and feta hash cakes were bland, fried, and drowning in sour cream. The dish was supposed to also have spinach and roma tomatoes - well, it had 4 tiny uncooked, unseasoned spinach leaves and half a tomato and that was it. My order took about three mins to come out - so that should have been enough of a warning. There are plenty of other places in West End to have breakfast that have better quality service, more edible food as well as being more affordable.
Foodmakesmehappy
Uncertain but still curious. I have not yet been satisfied with the service here, staff are not the friendliest and on my second visit we were greeted at the door and told she would set a table up for us, although she forgot about us instead. After a fifteen minute wait, another staff member greeted us and set us up soon after. The food and decor is lovely and is what has brought me back a second time to enjoy the brioche french toast. I am intending a third visit, although I'll add the coffee is average...
DianaW
Diana. Second time we have visited the Gunshop & both times average food. Not saying it is in anyway bad, but I would be expecting much more from this well established venue. Portion sizes are generous & all our food was well cooked, but just lacking that punch one would expect. We always come away from the Gunshop wondering why it's so popular & why one would stand at the end of a long line up at weekends? Coffee is nothing outstanding either & we always manage to get seated right next to the loudest table in the room (& believe me- being an old Gunshop noise tends to rebound off the walls here!!)<br/><br/><br/>-----29 Sep, 2012-----<br/><br/>Diana. Dont know what all the fuss is about here, would definately not stand in a line to enter this establishment. Coffee was below average standard. We had b/f here & thought it to be overpriced for food which was nothing exceptional. Disapointing there are not many vegetarian options, no trouble with service & loved the interior setting
Maddy
Great food, terrible service. I am sad to say I won't be returning to Gunshop. The food is fantastic, and I could not fault it. However, after going there for dinner a couple of nights ago, I have to say I was extremely disappointed with the service. <br/><br/>We waited over half an hour for our food orders to be taken, and another hour until the food came out. We had to order our drinks in dibs, and drabs, and the staff just didn't seem to care. We were not thanked, or wished farewell when exiting the premises. <br/><br/>I could not, and still cannot believe how the attitude of the staff affected our experience in such a negative way. Never again.
Alyssa
Great food but crap service. Waited an hour for food and the restaurant was far from full.
CB
Very tastey food! However that's when it actually came, super slow and terrible service by a young girl! Finished our coffee after 10min and then waited a further 50min to receive food and a second bottle of water. Improve the service and the cafe would be great!
Wallaroo
Good lunch. Had been for breakfast twice and wasn't great either time. Went for lunch recently and was pleasantly surprised. Sat it the courtyard out the back which was very pleasant, much nicer than out on the street or inside. Had the pasta, was not seasoned at all as far as I could tell. Had to add heaps of salt and pepper which I never normally have to do at all. Thought the price was reasonable. Would probably go back again for lunch.
Jem
Still the best for Breakfast. I've been going to the Gunshop on and off for about 5 years now - and I keep going back. Why? Easy question to answer really. Owner Jason, who loves feeding people high quality food. The fabulous waitresses and greeters, including gorgeous Erica, who always remembers my name and my order. The buzz and the ambience and the music, the location (in the West End hood) and of course, the food. For a long time, my favourite was the sweet french toast (now only offered as a special) - now I've switched to the famous potato fetta hash cakes with a side of chipolatas. During summer, the tiny cherry tomatoes are from the back garden, freshly picked. During winter, it's worth sitting in a patch of sun in the courtyard. Highly recommended from the breakfast menu (from friends who are less obssessive about their eating habits) include the granola, the porridge and the heart attack inducing canadian brioche with bacon.<br/><br/>Worth noting - yes, they have gluten free bread, just ask. If you ask very nicely, you can get gluten free french toast (or maybe that's just me ...)<br/>Yes, there are stacks of vegetarian options - and if you want something off menu or of different combinations, just ask<br/><br/>Verdict - Worth standing in line for<br/><br/>Jane
Fred
Food ok, certainly not worth the wait though. The food here is ok, but nothing fancy and certainly not worth the queue and wait.
Bon Appetit
The breakfast here really is worth lining up for. Wow.. Black pudding. <br/><br/>It's alllllll good! Staff work their arses off too.
Brigitte B
Do not waste your time! Waited 20 minutes to get in, and an additional hour to get our food. No communication by staff to let us know that there was a glitch in the system and our orders hadn't been processed. They seem to really be struggling to handle the large volumes of diners coming through the door. If you are looking for a relaxing, stress free Sunday brunch, look elsewhere!!!
Ianloveshisfood
Been here several times over the years and unfortunately it's no longer what it used to be. Staff were attentive but not overly friendly, food was well presented and perfectly cooked. Meals brought out in timely manner. The portions were ridiculously expensive for their size, for $35 I expect a good sized steak, this was barely larger than an entree. Sorry guys, not in a hurry to go back.
Andrew W
Awesome! Superb food and service. The rear courtyard is a perfect place for breakfast or lunch on a sunny Winter's day.
Veggie Crusader
NO veggie options. I can't speak to the quality of the food because we were unable to eat here. We were seated and looked over the menu and there was not a single item the I or my vegetarian friend could eat. We left and on our way out the waitress stopped us and asked why we were leaving, we said that we were vegetarians and she said "oh, OK" They clearly didn't care that they had nothing to offer us.
Kristi Barrow
Disappointing. Waited over 45min for our food while a group who cam afyer received theirs in less than 10. French toast soggy and luke warm. Poached eggs over cooked and yolk dry. Expensive as well. Do not recommend, won't be back
Foodie
Adverage. Food is good but price is bit in the high end, Service is bit slow but over all not a bad place.

Food's delcious but on the exy side.. Had breakfast with a couple of friends this morning. We got there around 10:40, and only managed to get a seat at 11. Waitstaff was polite and friendly, but wasn't that attentive. Food was delicious, but small for the price we paid and took ages to come out (though they were packed this morning). The coffee took a while to come out and was warm rather than hot. The atmosphere was great though.

No Idea at all!. The staff at the Gunshop Cafe have no idea of hospitality. They are very up themselves, unfriendly and just darn right rude! As you step over the threshold you are barked at - "you're blocking the door - wait outside!" It was as if you were intruding and asking the impossible - may I have a meal in YOUR restaurant! I was rather amazed at how I was being treated and being shouted at again as I stood around at the entrance to the Cafe I realised this wasn't the "best, award winning restaurant" I had heard about - I headed across the road and was greeted by a very friendly young lady and within minutes had a lovely hot coffee in my hands and a delicious breakfast at half the price! Gunshop Cafe you're fired!!!

Worth the wait. Great place to have breakfast at! this is one of the places i frequent when i'm back in brizzy! awesome food and great service!

One word to sum up Gunshop: overpriced. For the amount I paid there I could have gotten something a lot better and cheaper elsewhere.
Elmo-monster
Overrated. Have been to this establishment three times but not by choice. Both times have been for birthday dinners chosen by friends and once for breakfast when it was owned by the lady who ran Tongue and Groove and now Anouk?<br/><br/>I found the food to be nothing extraordinary, fresh and tasty but hugely overpriced for what you get. The service is a hit and miss ranging from one friendly waiter to staff who are abrupt and serve your food without a smile or a word. It's a shame as I always like to support our local community, but this is one place I prefer not to return ever again

Asked for brownie and paid for brownie and two coffees then told that there's no brownie left and can just have sponge instead. Also dine in coffees were given in takeaway cups. Yea Id never go back.

Gunshop: all that is wrong with Brisbane cafes. There is a real lack of proper professional standards in many Brisbane cafes: appropriate use of floor space, competent and timely customer service, high quality fare, excellent coffee, and reasonable prices. Gunshop has none of these.<br/><br/>Tables are tiny and crammed in, giving the cafe a "messhall" feel of shouted conversation and elbows clashing on rival tables. It is impossible to feel comfortable and relaxed unless you take one of the few large tables out the back. No real thought has gone into management of customer flow - so new arrivals are asked to wait outside until somebody has time to find a free table. You might wait 2 minutes, you might wait 20.<br/><br/>Gunshop clearly suffers from regular turnover of wait staff. They are generally polite but very lackadaisical (in fairness they seem overwhelmed by the poor service system). On my last visit, the cafe was only half full but I still waited over 10 minutes to get my order in.<br/><br/>The food is usually good but don't be surprised if it is average or poor. Either way, it is definitely overpriced. More to the point, Gunshop's much-vaunted 'regularly changing menu' is simply poshed-up versions of standard cafe fare. There is generally nothing on the menu you haven't seen everywhere else. Gunshop presents itself as an 'institution' of the Brisbane cafe scene, but it is a long long way behind much lower profile cafes in Sydney or Melbourne, which serve more interesting and better food at lower prices.<br/><br/>The coffee is probably the greatest disappointment. It is amongst the worst in 'elite' Brisbane cafes, and put to shame by almost every other cafe in the locality - who can at least manage to serve a long black that hasn't burnt the coffee beans by heating the water temperature to a scalding temperature. Forget about flat white or cafe latte, you might as well order a cup of milk froth. I am genuinely at a loss why they can't hire a barista who actually knows what they are doing.<br/><br/>On my last three visits, I waited 45+ minutes for my meal to arrive. I can't remember what the excuse was the first time, the second time they were 'really busy because its xmas' (seemed true, although it didn't help that the waitress stood at another table across the courtyard bagging her last cafe job to the customers instead of taking my order), this last time I was told they 'had an unexpected rush' even though the cafe was only half full.<br/><br/>If you are tempted to try Gunshop anyway, don't bother on weekends - the line of wannabes and fanbois who want the 'umissable culinary Brisbane experience' will mean you wait an interminably long time standing on the footpath as if you were going to a nightclub. You'll go for breakfast but end up ordering lunch - and still be disappointed.<br/><br/>This joint is trading on reputation alone. When I first visited about 4 years ago it was ok but not great. It has gone downhill badly since then. More to the point, plenty of better cafes have opened along the same strip. Save a little cash and a lot of grief: go somewhere else.

Not what it used to be!. Had a wonderful breakfast 2 weeks ago but today waited 40 minutes for quite simple meals, when they arrived they were WAY below par. Waitress gave all the excuses of being busy and having a chef short and then told us we should have told them we were in a hurry. Food, service and timeliness all bad so why ever go back? I certainly wont be.

Ive never been dissapointed here! The breakfasts are wonderful but i always have a hard time going past the canadian french toast. Yum! I cant order french toast anywhere else anymore because its never as good as Gunshop!
I Want To Eat...
Slightly disappointed, but would try again. Finally went for lunch after reading and hearing a lot about this cafe. Unfortunatly it did not live up to expectations. Ordered a main of pork belly w jerusalem artichoke puree and snap peas, which although was delicious, was too small, especially in comaprison to the other main meals. My dining companions ordered a Waguu burger, and a rissotto, both of which were good sized, and if anything, perhaps slightly to big for a comfortable lunch. The portion of pork belly was a good size for lunch, but there was barely anything to the rest of the dish, just a smear of artichoke and 4 sugar snap peas that had been top and tailed within an inch of existence. This meal should be included in the "light lunch" section of the menu as opposed to the "mains". I also ordered a side of haloumi, which didn't come out with meals as it had been forgotten, and when it did come out it had been rushed and was still a little cold. Coffee for the table were offered kindly on the house and were lovely. After 2pm the service improved dramatically as the crowd subsided. I would return as I think I may have been a little unlucky and did enjoy the coffee and food. I am hopeful that next time I will have a more positive experience.

So-so. The atmosphere and the service was great. But unfortunately i cant get past the food. I thought it was very bland and over prices for what i payed.<br/>Maybe one day i will give it another go and change me vote

Cafe of the Year?. Stopped in here for a noisey lunch with the family.<br/><br/>Firstly this place is described on many sites as having a kids friendly menu. That is not the case there is no menu options for kids unless they want chips.<br/><br/>Staff seem to be mostly backpackers.<br/>Firstly the coffee order didnt show up until the waiter got reminded after the mains has been served. Then he promptly lost a drinks order too. As a saving note the coffee once it arrived was very smooth.<br/><br/>Onto the most important part the food I ordered the wagyu burger and it was cold in the middle. Like alot of places these burger patties are prepared at a earlier time and frozen however if your going to do that please<br/>make sure its heated properly. I would describe my meal as ok not fantastic, slightly above coffee shop quality.<br/><br/>Partner had Lamb Salad which she also decscribed as just ok not very exciting.<br/><br/>I have to wonder just who was the judged this place Cafe of the year?

Lack Lustre. I've seen the line-up out on to the street so I had high expectations. I was a little let down. Don't get me wrong, our lunch was nice, the service was nice, the atmosphere was nice... but just nice. I'm willing to try again, maybe on a quiet day.

Artwork on the walls and plates. I love the layout of this place with the lighting and sculptures making it feel like you are sitting in an exhibit. People rave about the breakfasts here which are very good don't get me wrong but I have actually had one of the best dinners here in Brisbane. Big flavoured prawns for entree, well sized and fresh. Venison (the special) for main. A large main, cooked well with traditional and well seasoned sides. After these nicely sized dishes we doubted we could fit in dessert but the bread and butter pudding with strawberry jam was too hard to pass up - we ate the entire pudding without hesitation from our full bellies, it was too good to stop! I would recommend going here for dinner rather than breakfast (which is also very good).
Ellasyn
Terrible service, forgot about our drinks and even after asking 3 times for them. Waited for 40 minutes for food. When we went to pay, they tried to charge us for drinks we never received. No apology for massive wait or forgotten beverages. Over priced for bland food that are reasonably small meals once plated. Menu is extremely limited. Not worth the wait, moolah or parking.
Charlotte Brown
Very Nice!!!. I ordered a takeaway coffee and it was lovely!!! the boy making the coffee was easy on the eyes :) and the coffee was fast and strong and hot.... The service from the barista in particular was very good.... not just because of the looks...

Nice to see some things are as I remember them.. I revisited the Gunshop Cafe after not eating there for a couple of years and it was just as good as I remember it... that's rare! The ambience was light and airy, actually more inviting than I remembered. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. Best part about this place has got to be the food. Everything was wonderfully presented and with generous portions. The flavours were simply superb. Anyone who doesn't like the food at this place needs an attitude assessment!!! Highly recommended.

Upper-crust dinning at it's best!. I wont lie. the Gun shop is far from cheap. and the portions are small. though I never eat less then 3 courses when I dine there. however despite the portion size the food is absolutely top notch!!! its fine-dinning in west end at it's best. <br/>The staff are friendly and really know their stuff when it comes to which wines would be good with which course. If I could rate it out of 5 stars for dinner time meals it would get a 6!!!<br/><br/>However I have eaten there for Breakfast as well and it can be abit of a hit-and-miss kinda affair. staff are always lovely but its not uncommon for them not to have dishes that are on their menu and for good old favs to be taken off. Take your chances with breakfast it will be either really good or average.
Mildred
Delicious. Had an absolutely stunning pork belly there followed by apple crumple. Nice hearty winter fare & good service. However, far from cheap, which is okay if you know that's what you're up for (it was a birthday so yes) but sometimes I wish there were more low priced good restaurants in Brisbane.<br/> <br/><br/>Update 2018 - Meh. This place has expanded a lot & become a bit of an institution, however I found the breakfast a little bit average - quite small & unsatisfying.

Dining at Gunshop Cafe this evening was a truly wonderful experience, from the entree of bread with dukkas through to orange blossom pannacotta. Coupled with terrific service from the entire team, this cafe will remain a favourite in our eyes for many years to come.

If you're in a rush, you'd be better off at the coffee club...but that's why gunshop is so much better!!! The food is always sensational, I've been now for breakfast, lunch and dinner and every time was amazing. The menu is made around supply of local ingredients, and presentation is wonderful. The staff are friendly, although granted don't quite know how to handle a lot of tables. They have a great selection of wines to accompany the meals. If you're going on a weekend I would recommend booking, it can get busy. There are reviews complaining of the wait for food but for dinner especially, order a bottle of wine and relax!
Shikha S
Have been going here for years and can still say it is the best place in Brisbane for breakfast.. Consistently good food, coffee and service..
Pig
Set Apart. GET IN EARLY! Those who don't want to wait.. sleeping in till 8.30 is not an option.<br/><br/>Breaky with friends from taz.<br/>Got there just before 8.30? and then the queue started to pile up. The waitress was lovely enough to try and cater for our large group offering us a table outside or in. We ended up in due to the lack of table space outside.<br/>We ordered our drinks and food and despite our group size we were served in a reasonable fashionable time.<br/><br/>I had french toast... AGAIN but this time i went to the Canadian version with banana, maple syrup, walnuts and BACON... gave my taste buds a *WHAM*... i loved it from beginning to end. It truly is a fab. place that you must try. They even have fresh daily juices.<br/><br/>The atmosphere is wonderful. and a must try for friends and family.
Bris Diner
Positive experience at Gunshop Cafe. This was the fourth time we've had dinner here in the past four months, and as usual, everything was wonderful. The menu changes periodically, so although we've eaten here on quite a few occasions, we've been able to try new dishes due to the rotation. Service, also, is of a high quality and always exceptional. <br/><br/>We had an early dinner then headed to QPAC for a show so dining at Gunshop was the perfect way to begin a very enjoyable evening.

Never again. We tried to book for a group of our friends a few years back to celebrate my birthday but our son was a young baby at the time and we were told that there was no space for prams. We were basically turned away. I only tried it again recently and was given a cold cappucino and unfriendly service. I couldn't be bothered asking for another one to be made and just made a mental note never to return.
Blonde Salad
Simply the best. I have been to the gunshop many times for breakfast, and once for lunch. The food is great quality, and atmosphere is always buzzing. While it is obviously quite busy, especially for breakfast, we have never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a table (okay in my opinion for a popular cafe). If you're going for brekkie with friends and not in a rush, it's great. The staff don't rush you out, and are always friendly. I have never had a complaint about any meal .. and the tropical fruit salad is amazing. I find the prices are also reasonable - as the the quality is much better than other cafes that have similar prices. Would recommend this to anyone who enjoys good quality food, great atmosphere, friendly service, and who is not in a rush.

Mostly wasn't good.. Went for lunch, this place changes their offerings daily with new menus printed daily, had the Fettucini w/ Braised Rabbit, Beer Battered Snapper, Mushroom Risotto, Salmon Salad. Didn't like the Fettucini w/ Braised Rabbit - it was very dry and the Mushroom Risotto lacked flavor terribly and wasn't cooked long enough. The Beer Battered Snapper and Salmon Salad was alright - more on the saltier side. Those two were the better ones amongst what we ordered. Coffee was alright.

Went to gunshop cafe with a friend and everything was absolutely fantastic. What impressed me the most was the fruit plate (on the breakfast menu). Would definately go go back and would recommend it to anyone !

Busy busy busy......... The breakfast line up on weekends speak for themselves. The food is great, always busy. I have been there on many occassions for breakfast, lunch and eaten my way through the dinner menu. Have always enjoyed the food, keep going back. The wait time on weeekends for breakfast is not good, but hey, you know that when you see the line up, They work furiously in the kitchen to get the meals out. They know you are waiting, give them a break or go elsewhere I say. I always order an extra drink and take the time to enjoy my friends company when we are doing weekend breakfasts. A rare treat with our busy lives. See you again Gunshop.

Great food, but very disappointed in the service. Have to wait awhile to get your food.

What service?. I was really excited to be heading to the Gun shop cafe after reading a few of the great reviews in regards to their amazing venue. The minute i walked towards the door i was bound for disappointment. i waited at the sign which asked "please wait here to be seated" to which my party and i was ignored 3 times by the waitress who walked straight past us clearing the tables outside (not even a hello). so i moved forward into the venue and waited for a further 5 minutes for some one to acknowlegde me. This did not happen. i approached the woman behind the till and asked if i it were possible we got a table... she didnt know.. and had to ask around. when we finally got our table, i placed my arm in a giant pool of water that was on the table, drenching my jumper. then had to ask for it to be cleaned. <br/>The menu looked amazing and i think the only thing that saved some face for this place was the food. it was delicious for every one, the coffee was perfect and the beer and wine selection was boutique and different, another plus.<br/>its a shame the people who work there think their job was a chore and it felt like they didnt want us to be there. Im one for recommending places for visiters to brisbane to visit and immerse themselves in brisbane hospitality culture. This cafe is most definatelty not one of them.
Izzy07cj08
Lousy service for simple food!. Waited 5mins for table, got seated with what we thought was the menu only to find out it was the wine list and the menu was being printed.....20mins later got the menu, yesterdays rehashed, ordered, waited 25mins for apple juice the only thing we got fast there was the bill. Done within 2mins, of asking. Lousy service, lots of wait staff but no one in charge. Food not that fab. as people say it is either.

Time to get back on track!. What is going on with The Gunshop Café these days? Here is a cafe with a huge reputation that has won numerous awards over the years - previous "Best Breakfast Restaurant in Brisbane" is one that comes to mind. Yet based on my most recent visit, I'm wondering if they are starting to rest on their laurels just a little bit. Perhaps they can even afford to, for a while...<br/><br/>When I lived in West End a few years ago, I was The Gunshop Café's #1 fan. I would bring everyone here (family and friends) to experience what was a consistently brilliant brunch and equally good coffee. Of course, this place has changed hands a couple of times since then. However on paper at least, the menu still looks incredibly enticing. And according to my sugar sachet, they are still serving Merlo coffee. The place itself is as charming as always - I still love the atmosphere here and it has very fond memories for me. So why am I not raving about this place as I expected to be?<br/><br/>On our recent visit, I had the double smoked bacon and poached eggs with hollandaise and a potato feta hash cake on the side. They were good, but hardly memorable. My wife had the brioche french toast with vanilla mascarpone and raspberry. It sounds so deliciously inviting, yet it didn't really hit the mark. The same goes for my coffee. My double shot latte is passable - there's a certain roughness about it. It's not overly bitter, but the flavour is not as balanced as I had hoped. The milk is almost right, not perfect though.<br/><br/>The theme of the day was a series of near misses. One thing I remember well is that I could previously always count on my meal coming out piping hot - like it was fresh out of the oven. But this time around, it was lukewarm. So it really seems to me that the Gunshop Café just needs to pay a little closer attention to these minor (but vital) details to get back to where it should be - as one of Brisbane's elite cafes. I hope they get there.
Singing.susie
One of the Best breakfasts of my life! Beautiful coffee and fantastic service, not to mention a great atmosphere and sensational food!! Go the potato hash cakes and the poached eggs with hollandaise! This shoots like a bullet to the top of my list!
Kjwillow
Really liked it, yes be prepared to wait for a table, but the staff and food are worth it!
Violetmoose
Pretentious food is fine when it's exceptionally good, otherwise it's just pretentious. 10 min wait for a table, 25 min wait for food. Toulouse sausages were undercooked, watery and completely inedible. Sweet potato hash was ok. Don't understand the rave reviews - probably the worst breakfast u'v had in 2 years in Brisbane.
FoodieWannabe
Creative menu. Finally something other than just eggs for breakfast - no where in the world have I seen a brunch menu like this. Great variety and delicious!
HF
Great food and coffee - service not so great.. I hear so much about this place so thought I give it a try. We missed out on breakfast by half an hour. We arrived just after 11.30am. Lunch service started at midday. A good start - waitress asked us if we would like coffees while we were waiting. Midday came and I saw one of the waitresses with their lunch menu printouts of the day.<br/><br/>We were left for 15 minutes with them. We were eager to order but there was minimal staff present on the floor. Had to chase one down and when she greeted us it was as if she only noticed that we were there. Even the couple sitting next to us was looking around commenting that no one wants to talk to them today. <br/><br/>After 20 minutes one of the waitstaff returned to re-confirm our orders again. Where is the communication between staff members? You don't work in sections? When food did arrived dishes were beautifully presented and tasted good. Limited lunch menu but happy with our selections. <br/><br/>I agree with our fellow reviewers. Up nose wait staff galore. I can see why customers don't ask for second coffees or anything else for that matter. It is just too hard and from the attitude and body language from the wait staff we don't want to annoy them too much do we?<br/><br/>Asked for our bill and that never came - waitress has forgotten just as quickly when I saw her walking aimlessly around the cafe. <br/><br/>Yes, I can't fault the food and coffee but I don't know why bad service is accepted here.
TCha
Great Breakfast, poor service, high nose waiters. Breakfast is not bad... if you can get in... i waited 30 mins for a table only to be told that the cafe was closing in an hour and they wouldn't let me in. This is the 2nd time this has happened... disappointing that they hire high nose waiters who don't realise that I pay for their wages
Anne Dangerfield
Good but a little overrated. After standing in a line for 20 minutes waiting for a table, I was expecting something outstanding... A Sunday morning breakfast experience at the Gunshop Cafe wasn't what I had heard about. The service was average. Ordering a couple of coffee's and tea's and them arriving a good 20 minutes after and food less then a minute after that, was a little overwhelming for our small table in the back corner, with our neighbours very close by. When it came down to the food it was good, but nothing vastly different when compared to other places that provide a much more comfortable dining experience. Not a bad place, but not worth the wait personally...
Deano's Digest
Busy Gunners. I refuse to beat up Gunshop purely because they are now ridiculously well known and far too busy - probably too much for their own good.<br/><br/>Service is something to be questioned, but when you are pushing through the amount of people they do on the weekend, a few things are expected to slide.<br/><br/>The food was still good breakfast fair when I visited, with no major complaints. It is a great cafe, so it is a shame the crowds make it such a place to avoid these days (for me anyway). Gunshop good. People bad.
Cristal
One vegetarian option - risotto. Small portion, nothing special. Service was okay and my companion felt so sorry for me she gave me some of her food. Won't be going back for lunch, I'll stick to breakfast here.
Tom
Great for lunch too. Hate the queues, but once inside absolutely worth it. The food is fabulous and the service always great.
Michael Allen
Gunshop - a breakfast institution. I've been eating at the Gunshop for many many years now - this place has been around forever and it keeps getting better! The couple of previous owners have done well by this place but Jason has built it up to another level. The food, coffee and service is always perfect and the fit-out is smart - be sure to ask for a table in the newly developed rear courtyard. As usual the few "great" breakfast places in Brisbane have a queue on the weekends, so get there early!
David Hanlin
Had breakfast today and after people telling me how great this place was, I must say it didn't live up to the rep!! I had a coffee to start, which took about 15min to come out we then ordered the salmon eggs and toast, poached eggs on toast and the avocado and cheese!! Found it ok but not making me want to return anytime soon!!
TP
What's all the raving about?. Gunshop Cafe is infamous and almost an "institution" for Brisbane brunching..... I think I've missed something. <br/><br/>I have visited a few times, each time deciding to give the Gunshop another chance to impress, each time I have been greatly disappointed. Our most recent visit was similar to the others - the service was DISGUSTING. <br/><br/>Waiting 40 minutes to order having already waited for a seat, another 40 minutes (or more) for our meals and deciding to give up on our second coffee order after another 20 minutes. <br/>Such a shame because the food was quite delicious, but definitely not worth all the waiting.
Guilaine Senn
Gunshop Cafe - West End. I dislike having to write this, but I must tell others of my experience. My husband and I walked into the cafe with another couple behind us, after waiting for 5 mins, the lady making the coffee behind the counter rudely told us to wait outside, when clearly there was many tables available. <br/>I was disappointed in the manner that we were told to wait outside, when there was a sign outside the door saying "please enter".<br/>Staff did look pretty busy, but there is no excuse for rudeness. Anyway we went elsewhere to a lovely greek cafe across the road.
Paul Smith
Give it a miss. Had breakfast here this morning for a change. Over $13 for a coffee and a piece of fruit toast. When I came to pay by card I was informed that it was a $20 minimum and had to find a cashpoint and return to pay by cash. When you are charging this much for food and you still want to inconvenience your customers because you want to save money on credit card fees then you get a resounding NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! Do yourself a favour and go next door. A mug of coffee and some fruit toast will cost you about $6.

We have been to Gunshop a few times for dinner and always had a great experience, expectations for breakfast was high. After waiting in a queue for about 15mins we were shown to our table. From here the service pretty much died. Coffees came after about 25mins and the girl had no idea which was which ie skim vs regular etc and didn't have any inclination to find out. All food was excellent after bit of a wait. Definitely can't complain here. We made the unfortunate decision to order another rnd of coffees to again have the same girl present our coffees with no clue as to which coffee was which. Overall the total experience was average. Like the food, dislike the service.
Jeff
Service was very poor. Inside needs some sort of acoustic modification to minimize the excessive background noise. Otherwise, food was very good.
Michelle V
Still one of my most favourite Bris cafes. Today's organic avocado on sourdough was a culinary masterpiece - just perfect. Perfect avo, perfect bread, perfect size, perfect mix of flavours. And relaxing in the back courtyard was perfect too. Quick service, great food - love this place!
Greg
Disappointing experience. Service was hit and miss. I went in for a lunch time experience and my seared tuna was way overcooked to the point of being tough. The reputation of this restaurant has guaranteed popularity, perhaps this is now compromising quality. My companion order a salad whether the dressing was so sour it was almost inedible.<br/>Wont be going back.
Shannon
Bad Service. I recently had lunch at the Gun Shop and enjoyed my food immensely. The salads we ordered were really delicious (if a little on the small side) and the white chocolate mousse dessert was beautiful. The service however was not good. I hate coming into a restaurant and standing around for five minutes while the wait staff walk around you studiously avoiding your eye, only to be asked "Did you want a table?" . What did they think we were standing there for? <br/><br/>The waitress was really rude and inattentive it was very hard to get her attention to order food and there was an air of irritation when glasses of water or extra forks were requested. Our plates were not cleared and the bill was not bought to the table. I wouldn't reccommend the place. There are plenty of other cafes that serve great food without the attitude.
Russell Shooter
Really is a great venue with quality food; but really a restaurant like this should know how to make a long macchiato
Bonza45
Meh.. Have been here twice for breakfast with friends. 1st experience was okay, didn't wait for a table (turned up a bit before 12 I think), food was nice, coffee good, just a little on the higher side of the price tag, but we didn't mind. Was quite hungover, maybe that made the food taste nicer??<br/><br/>2nd time there was the last time there.. we lined up, then waited nearly an hour for our food to come out! Staff were okay but not brilliant. Obviously very busy. I had some kind of fried potato dish served with sour cream, it was really really boring. Like being served 3 plain potatos. Maybe a bad choice but why why why is it on the menu that boasts 'best restaurant/cafe in Australia 2009'?<br/><br/>Wouldn't recommend it. Go to Mondo for an amazing breakfast at similar prices!
Rickymb
Over priced over priced over priced!! Nice coffee, good food but $60 for breakfast for 2? Come on!
Barfly
Overrated. Definitely not the "best cafe". It is okay but nothing more. Coffee is decent but I received over-priced eggs benedict without hollandaise sauce and was offered ketchup as an alternative but only as my hollandaise-less eggs benedict was placed in front of me. Service was weird and kind of rude. After complaining about my hollandaise-less eggs benedict I was offered a free coffee card.<br/>Gee thanks.<br/>I wouldn't bother lining up or going there.
LJ
Love love love. Best breakfasts in Brisbane. Potato and fetta hash cakes are a must try. Can sometimes get pretty noisy inside though
Fallen Fence-Sitter
Love the area out the back at this spot. Lots of character
Grace
Just so so. We arrived gunshop cafe around 10:30 and the place has been already quite full. Since it is noted as "best breakfast cafe of 2009", we chose 2 mains from breakfast menu, which were smoked Scottish haddock and toulouse sausages. The food came fast but the portion of haddock was quite small considerting the price. The overall flavours were light and we didn't find anything special. They use Merlo coffee, it is ok but I've tried better ones. Above all, we are difinatelly dissapointed by this "best breakfast"
Steven Dudley
Fabulous breakfast, the flavours are exceptional. Well worth a visit to this well themed place.
Paul Plant
Why bother. Let's face it.. .if you cannot make coffee even after 3 goes in one hour (one wrong type and two cold) you can guess its an indication of what to expect with the rest. I have been here three times as a request of friends and now its on my banned list. Never again.
David
Lost the edge??. I used to really rate this place but last visit I felt the menu was a bit same same and the atmosphere among the staff seemed a bit strained. The breakfasts are still pretty good (but very crowded) whilst our recent dinner was experience was quite ordinary. Also the tone seems to have become a bit pretentious for West End??
Foodie
Over rated. Went recently for lunch... had the smoked chicken salad which I had done before. Very tasty but for $22 the size has reduced and was not enough to make me satisfied for my money....

Really bad service at GunShop. I had heard so many good things about the Gun Shop Café located in the peculiar and quirky suburb of West End. Unfortunately it's not all it's cracked up to be. The food is usually lovely but the price you pay for the quality you get isn't up to scratch. The service there is really pathetic. I've gone there twice in non peek times and it has still taken over 20 minutes to get a coffee and both times the sluggish staff have forgotten the food to go with it. I think they need an overhaul of employees.

Decent food but at times gives a feeling that the menu could do with a but more innovative approach like it did in its early days.

Worth The Visit.. Was taken here by friends without the realisation that it had won Delicious Cafe Award. I can understand why. The atmosphere was relaxing and funky, the food exceptional (the figs wrapped in prosciutto with goats curd, amazing) and the staff friendly and efficient. Well worth the visit whenever up North.

Nice. Two of us went here on a Wednesday mid morning for breakfast. Service was pleasant and efficient, and the breakfast dishes were ordered were nice. The breakfast prices are a the higher end of the scale. Coffee was fine but served in really daggy mass catering style cups, which doesn't do the place justice. Very pretty decor and overall pretty good.
Strayed From The Table
Gunslop. They use to be good, breakfast was consistent, now it has gone. A claim to fame by some award means that they dont have to love the food anymore. service has always been bad there, the food once was good is now a big sloppy mess. We wont be going back
Simone_bennett
Great food, great atmosphere. This is a really nice looking place, really warm, and modern. The good is always lovely here and we've never not had a great time.
David Griffiths
Gun shop. Service was slow. The food was over priced.

Just shoot yourself. I am baffled why so many people have said this is a great spot to go for breakfast and to have a coffee. it is not romantic, has no air con, cramped, the staff are slow and got numerous of our orders wrong. It was middle of the week and 4 of us went in for lunch. Two of us ordered the specials of the day and they were just horrible. This is just the worst place ever.

Great breakfast! Great Service!. Four of us went to Breakfast at Gunshop cafe and all four of us loved our breakfast choice and we all enjoyed great service.<br/><br/>You can't book on a Sunday however our timing was just right and we got one of the last available tables at 9.15 am.<br/><br/>Coffee can soon after we ordered and it was good coffee! Our breakfast choices included the hash browns, a great spin on this vegetarian breakfast of course being meat eaters bacon was added to this as a side, their was a no eggs person in our group and the sausage dish minus eggs was very welcome. The eggs benedict was superb and the last choice for our foursome was the pancake special which was vaved about all day.<br/><br/>It certainly is a busy restaurant and they do like to turn over the tables. We did not however feel rushed on pushed to move on once our plated were cleared. Any coffee was enjoyed by all and the four of us had enjoyed fantastic start to the day. Absolutely will be back for breakfast!

Terrible on all fronts. Service was slow, forgot drink orders then brought wrong ones. 4 of the 10 mains were unavailable and some were cold when they arrived.
MerBear
Late night spot. Gunshop is best for just dessert and coffee/after dinner drinks or a cheese plate. The mains are unremarkable.

They used to be pretty good but now the food is boring - haven't updated their menus in over a year. The service is ridiculously bad.

Avoid!. So sad to see what was a once great eating spot go so far downhill...had a bad dinner experience with uninterested service, and high prices for really very average food. Bring back the old Gunshop magic!

Probably Brisbane's most overrated cafe. The food is good but certainly not great. Plenty of other cafes within a two minute walk though! Thank goodness for choice.

Scary. My friend didn't like her meal and the response was 'well you'll pay for it or we'll call the police'. What?! We didn't even suggest not paying. Will never go back. Nuff said.

Very disappointing. Top dollar for so little which you could hold in one hand. Personally my first and last. Would not recommend this resturant.
The Enigmatic Truffle
Counting the $. Ate all of my breakfast and was pleasant enough, but one of those meals, where it gets you thinking....I could do this myself and I wonder how much $/mark-up they are doing..."they must be making a killing...!" Inspiration from the meal, mainly comes from thinking about a seachange in profession and wondering if one can do the same...!
Jam
Rush rush rush. Compltely packed for aveage food, no air con and staff that can't be bothered to even get you the bill. The food is not good enought and origional enough to pput up with this sholder to sholder feeding frenzy. Coffee is pretty good but not good enough to have to be on top of your dining neighbours.

If this veteran of West End cafe heritage is anything to go by, the halcyon days of quirky unique dining have truly died (thank god you only have to walk 20 meters to “the Burrow” to have your faith renewed). This once great West End institution is starting to feel worn around the edges, trading off its history and not adding anything worthwhile to their repertoire. A dozen years ago, this was one of Brisbane’s best cafe’s and now it feels like well rehearsed same-same dining. The coffee like the food feels soulless, top dollar for mid level just isn’t what we are looking for these days. The staff are nice, but it is simply not delivering at the previous level we were used to.  Even the signature dishes such as the Canadian Brioche has shrunken down to a diminutive shadow of it’s former self… anyway… enough bitching, this is a coffee review. The coffee is well enough extracted from Merlo beans and offers a full bodied flavor that you would expect from a fresh brew, but for over $5 for

The menu is good. Very good, in fact. It ranges from light options (the Middle Eastern fruit and fig toast, house made lemon curd sounded good) to classics and new options. Again, there was much deliberation. Why, oh, why did this have to be my last breakfast in Brisbane! Unusually, I chose a sweet opinion: brioche French toast, local strawberry and roast rhubarb , vanilla mascarpone, berry couli, hazelnut crumble. The food looked very pretty — and very substantial. The plate was colourful and the elements were tasty. My bloke, at a work function at the time, would love it.

We all had a absolutely great time here. It was very friendly and a good place to chat and have a really nice meal. Definitely going back to try out their newly menu items.<br/>

As usual, Gunshop Cafe did not disappoint with their perfectly executed lunches that are easy on the stomach and on the wallet. All dishes ordered were under $25 with an additionally freshly squeezed juice for around $7. Whether it was the perfectly executed eggs benedict, to the carefully fried sweet potato hash cakes, all dishes are made with tender love and care. Only downside is that on a typical weekend, the cue for seating extends for a mile long so remember to bring your patience as well as your appetite. However, it's well worth the wait! RECOMMENDED FOR: the perfect weekend brunch

Gunshop Cafe is definitely one of my favourites in Brisbane! This is where I went for my 30th birthday, it's the place I make sure to take anyone who's visiting, and the place where I can be almost certain everyone will have an excellent meal! They have a lovely back-yard (my favourite) where you can

Generous servings, well varied seasonal menu, friendly service and cozy atmosphere – what are you waiting for? :)

The wait staff are all so friendly and helpful, the chefs were all too happy to make me something special not listed on the menu to meet my dietary needs and it was de-licious (pictured above). If you’re in Brisbane and looking for some great local food run by fantastic local people, look no further than The Gunshop Cafe.
The Knitting Tearoom
The Gunshop Cafe is located in West End, a suburb close to the Brisbane CBD. It is very popular with locals, especially on weekends, when there might be a waiting time for a table, if you come in the later morning hours for breakfast. It has won awards in the past, including Best Cafe in Queensland and Best Cafe in Australia in 2010. Naturally, one would expect then to have an exceptional dining experience here; however, I regret to say that I have not been overly impressed on the occasions I have dined at this cafe. The first two times, I went for lunch. On the first occasion, I think I had some sort of soup with toasted bread, because I was not that hungry. I recall the dish tasting alright, but afterwards, when I got home, I had a bit of tummy cramping and then diarrhoea. Strike 1. Now, I'm someone who likes to give second chances, and I reasoned to myself that maybe my tummy was just not feeling 100% that morning. So I went again a second time for lunch. This time, I ordered a mus

The service and ambiance were great, so we will definitely give it another chance – breakfast next time though!

Does it deserve the awards and the notoriety as one of the best? It sure does, the breakfasts here are superb and it's clear to me that for many it's worth waiting for..... But, I just can't bring myself to wait anywhere for breakfast, so the Gunshop will have to remain as a special treat for SC and I for those special days when we don't have to work.<br/>

...definitely more known of a breakfast place rather than a coffee place - i do believe i am enticed to come back and try more of the breakfast menu after this first time; although there is one thing i would mention to the price savvy breakfast consumer, in terms of price there are other breakfast places that i personally would prefer to go to, but i do believe the atmosphere of this cafe makes up for what you pay for.<br/>

The Gunshop's lunch and dinner menus are equally exciting, and offer a great range of Australian produce and culinary prowess.

...The smoked bacon with poached egg was probably the table's favourite... The bread... was as crispy as the bacon!<br/>...the omelette...whilst it didn't quite live up to my expectation, it had some redeeming factors...

Overall, I think the quality of Gunshop Café’s food is topnotch and when they are not busy, the food quality turns out better as well.

Ending the last day of the year with an awesome breakfast with friends was a great idea. Originally we were meant to another venue, but it happened to be closed over the new year period, so we ended up at Gunshop Cafe. We arrived and there was a queue, albeit short, and as we were all quite hungry, it was good that a table opened up for us very quickly. We sat at the window side and the queue was constant. Myself and another friend ordered the  grilled polenta cake, sautéed Swiss mushrooms, asparagus, poached Mt Molar duck egg, Meredith farm goats cheese, with fresh herbs. The polenta cake was kind of soggy but still maintained it shape as it sat under the egg and mushrooms. The poached duck egg was slightly overdone in that the yolk didn't ooze out as i would have preferred, however, the goats cheese was a great accompaniment that added a little zing to the dish. Overall, I was quite satisfied. My other friend got the  Tasmanian salmon pastrami, pickled baby beetroot, remoulade sauce,

The bitter: Long lines of pigs waiting to be fed and sometimes the food comes out before the drinks. The sweet: The menu changes regularly so there is always a crazy new creation to taste. The damage: Juice, coffee and packed plate will cost you about 30 piggy pennies. Oink oink,
MynameisFood.
I wasn't too hungry at the time so I chose their dish which sounded just like bacon and eggs.. Chriberg double smoked free range bacon, organic Mt Cotton poached eggs, herbed hollandaise, roasted vined tomato served with Leavain organic sourdough..

Gunshop cafe, one of the 'must-go' brekky places in Brisbane that everyone would definitely agree on.. located in a heritage building in West End, bookings are accepted for lunch and dinner and both indoor and outdoor seatings are available..

The Gunshop Café also has a sister café, Anouk – in Paddington . If you want a hearty breakfast that dares to be different from the usual fare, visit either Café. It will cure any Sake overdose, that’s for sure.

I personally like the atmosphere of the place, it is really nice and cosy.

An institution for the Brisbane breakfast scene, this cafe set the standards for home grown, organic and fresh fare. You’ll struggle to get a table between 9 and 11 but it’s a must if you’re seeking a breakfast benchmark setter. My pick on the menu? Anything with the potato fetta hashcakes.
Richard Elliot
Once inside it's hard not to like the place. There is a cool, urban and funky vibe going on with bare brick walls and lots of Brisbane trendy young things making conversation. On a practical note the tables were a good size and well spaced so you weren't on top of each other or the people next to you.

The Gunshop Café in West End is an institution in Brisbane. And yet, how have I gone years without ever stepping through their threshold, despite being a regular shopper at the Davies Park Farmer’s markets? May I lay blame on the fact the eclectic collection of hungry people queuing on the pavement every Saturday is a strong deterrent?
Dolce Bunnie
They change their menu regularly, so you'll never get bored of the same thing over and over again. Gunshop Cafe offers generous portions and every reasonable price for what you get.

We had been to The Gunshop Cafe for coffee at night, but had never actually tried their breakfast or dinner menus. Having spoken to fellow foodie friends, they all said I should try it for breakfast because their food is really good.
Mmm For The Love Of Food
...I can't seem to take my mind off my old favourite breakfast hang out. That is of course, The Gun Shop Cafe in West End. For two reasons really. One, Canadians just haven't mastered breakfast quiet like the Australians have (and I love a good breakfast) and Two, The Gun Shop is quite frankly the best you'll ever have! Everything on their menu is delicious! Although for my first breakfast back in Brisbane (it's been almost 12 months), I won't be passing up my all time favourite, the Toulouse Sausages. Served with seriously moorish sweet potato hash, a poached egg and some very tasty bush tomato relish, it simply is to die for. And you know what? I'm probably going to be greedy and get a side of their amazing Potato Feta Hash Cakes as well. The Merlo coffee here isn't that great. I refuse to drink a less than great coffee, so I always ere on the side of caution and get the cloudy apple juice and then head on down to Cibo for a coffee after

So, there was this colleague called Ryan from Connecticut who wrote down a list of things he had to do while in Brisbane.  I am not sure why, but for some reason he wrote down BREAKFAST AT GUNSHOP CAFE, WEST END as his number one thing he needed to do in Brisbane before going home. After almost 12 weeks of, "take me to gunshop cafe, take me to gunshop cafe"...i finally succumbed and took him while he was in brisbane for his last weekend ever. Look how happy he looks... Ryan - so happy he finally fulfilled his life dream of going to Gunshop Cafe - West End Jober and Kyle - Toulouse sausages; Spanner crab omelettes Corn bread, avo salsa, house smoked salmon Ryan with potato & feta hash cakes I like gunshop but i find the lineup a little bit tedious... especially if you are a large group and because there are so many other brunch places you can go and not have to line up.  But smaller groups - you won't need to wait too long, turn around for a small table is bearable.
Joe
A delicious breakfast but not worth the 15 minute wait outside and the 30 minute wait inside.
Cora Chen
I'm not exaggerating when I say that I've been dying to go to Gunshop for AGES. At least months, if not over a year. Maybe even 2 years now. It's reputably got Brisbane's best breakfast offerings. As a Brisbane girl, these claims impress me. Unfortunately

One thing I was looking forward in Brisbane was bunch, but opposite to Melbourne there is no big brunchmania there. So this time in order to make it on time I had to wake up early during the weekends and get proper breakfast. I did a little research and below are my favourites places

This french toast is no joke. Brioche is hands-down the perfect bread for this dish. The slices were cooked perfectly, with a crispy golden crust and fluffy inside. The combination of banana,

Beautiful food, but on the day we visited an incredibly slow kitchen. At least a sixty minute wait. . . The prettiest plate was clearly the fruit platter, though when it finally arrived, I enjoyed the jamon and feta croquettes with truffle aioli the most. http://feeds.feedburner.com/WinoSapien Click here for the original context
Eating Brisbane
We felt like going for a drive so we headed down to the West End and into The Gunshop Cafe. I had been there before but it was a while ago so was due for another visit.

A firm favourite from my days as a city dweller, there’s typically a queue for its famed brunch menu and this balmy thirty degree morning was no exception.
What's For Tea
So it was with high hopes that I entered The Gunshop cafe in Brisbane. After all it had been named by delicious magazine as Australia's Best Cafe for 2009 - they have a giant banner out the front telling everyone - and it had been recommended to me by man
