Review Thyme 2 - Brisbane

Sammy Day
We booked for the Seafood Buffet on a Friday night. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely man who showed us to our table setting. We were a little close to our neighbours which was a tad awkward but thankfully the only bad point of the night. The food was lovely and fresh with a great selection. The seafood was so great, Bugs, prawns, mussels and oysters. Staff were friendly and overall the whole experience was positive. Quite expensive, so I did expect good food and I'm pleased to say it was terrific and we will be back.

An amazing breakfast we had today at Sofitel Brisbane it was superb. Made even better by our Accor card 50% off Thankyou to the great staff

We were obviously staying in the hotel and thought we'd go out for dinner while staying for the week in Brisbane but with a restaurant this good why go anywhere else. Great food, absolutely lovely staff who seriously go out their way to make your time there the best. Very impressed and amazing food.

We use to come here all the time a couple years back. Went here for mothers day dinner and disappointed. The variety of food apart from the seafood is sub par. Not a lot of options, like 7 dishes to choose from all together. The seafood itself wasn’t even that good. Oyster were small and we got the hot fish and it was extremely strong in taste. The best thing here was probably the bread. Probably not gonna come back anytime soon.

The best Lunch/Dinner Buffet in Brisbane. Will return with my family!

We have visited Suzette for two dinners and two breakfasts about a week apart. Every time we have eaten there, the food has been delicious and the service is incredible. The Staff have been warm, welcoming and make going to Suzette that much more memorable. Thank you!

Suzette was one the most expensive buffet restaurants I have visited, the variety of seafood was poor no bugs, crabs etc. A soggy seafood salad. A limited variety of cold meats and the salads were plain, no better than a salad kit from coles. The Stamford is better value for money, the food needs to be taken to another level and it wasn't. Double-check via phone if you have made an online reservation as they could not find mine on the night. Get your act together Sofitel, sadly I wont be visiting again for a special occasion. Don't waste your money!

Friday Night Seafood Buffet our first since Covid 19 changed our habits. Name Change from Thyme to Suzzette? Guess there was a good reason but the ambience and food presentaion and quality are still great. Seafood was as expected fresh & flavoursome as usual. If i had one small not so good comment it would be no crab was presented at all which seems strange for a queensland Seafood Buffet. This remains our favourite seafood reastaurant with a great buffet option.

Tonight, we came for a Xmas catch up with family and we had a corner room almost to ourselves. There were 13 adults and 9 kids, it was 3 tables.<br/><br/>It was nice having like a dinner room just with the fam.<br/><br/>The assortment was good, more seafood and it was topped up regularly. The hot food items were lacking a little, not much variety. Staff were friendly and we were attended to regularly..<br/><br/>In saying so, we enjoyed the night out, food was good. Nice to catch up with the whole family with no cleaning up.

So this place for lunch is around $90 per adult. If you have Accor membership, you can get 50% off for two people. Or if you have entertainment book - 25% off (max 50).<br/><br/>The food selection is a bit limited compared to Bazaar at the Gold Coast. For mains, what was lacking was quite noticeable during lunch <br/>- no sashimi. Sushi was very meh<br/>- no scallops<br/>- the oysters were very small ... like the runts of the litter... my partner felt bad they didn’t get a chance to “grow up”<br/>- the lamb roast was ok, but the beef was had tough tendons through it making it chewy<br/><br/>The dessert selection was nice - lots of sorbets, sweets, chocolate fountain. Also my favourite Portuguese egg tarts were good. <br/><br/>Drinks were strange as you only get to pick one option: Sparkling, white wine, red wine or soft drink - you can’t change in between. That was a bizzare rule.<br/><br/>All in all, it really doesn’t hold a candle to Bazaar on the coast hence the grade<br/><br/>3.5/5

Phuong Tran and I are here for a Buffet Dinner with friends and arriving at 6.30pm we are promptly shown to our table. We walk around the separate buffet stations, cold seafood, cold meats & salads, hot dishes & vegetables and desserts. Presentation wise, it all looks appetisingly perfect! <br/><br/>* Oysters are very fresh and I have 50! The Prawns are 80% fresh which is regarded as good for a buffet and I have 15 of these medium King Prawns. <br/><br/>*Cold Meats are plentiful and are complemented with Cold Salads and Sushi Rolls. It all tastes so fresh and I enjoy the 8 items on my plate. <br/><br/>* Hot Meat Dishes are Baked Fish, Lamb Makhani and Chicken Tikka with Roasted and Steamed Vegetables. The Fish was ordinary but the Lamb was tender, rich and flavoursome. Vegetables were all perfectly done. A tad disappointing not having at least one roast meat! <br/><br/>* Dessert offerings were the highlight of our meal. I did not try the Chocolate Fountain but I did have 3 Cakes, 2 Pastries and a Crème Caramel. Phuong Tran had 2 fruit Panna Cottas. We love the desserts!<br/><br/>Overall a very enjoyable Buffet Dinner at this beautiful restaurant with thefork’s 30% discount. Service is friendly and helpful and we will return in a few months to update this review. Thank you Thyme2!

We had the buffet breakfast two days in a row. Great service with the lactose free hot chocolate. Variety in the dishes. The omelets look good but didn’t try. Liked the fresh fruit & salad juice bar. Cold meats and fish were healthy options rather than fried foods. Scrambled eggs looks positive for cream so had a small helping. Gluten free options were readily available and tasty. Warm pastries also abounded. Would come back with the family.

Went here midweek for the seafood buffet. There wasn't much variety in seafood, prawns, mussels and oysters. We had gone to prive 249 a couple of weeks before for dinner and walked past the buffet and noticed crabs and bugs and fish, which prompted us to try it out for dinner. It was ok, probably needed more variety midweek.

Took my friend here for a surprise birthday lunch. The variety of choices were average but nothing special (soup, fish, salad, sushi, pasta, bread). Unfortunately, there weren’t a lot of seafood left to choose from (only a few prawn and oysters - bit disappointing). However, I was surprised that there were a lot more options for desserts (many cakes, jelly, mousse and ice-cream) and most of all I loved the idea of having a large chocolate fountain with marshmallow and M&M on the side (great attraction for kids). The cakes were lovely (not too sweet, quite moist and very pretty), the mousse was very fluffy and light and I liked that the jelly has actual pieces of fruit in it (adds more flavour to it).<br/><br/>This restaurant has a very open and sociable environment (was a bit noisy) but a great place for special occasion celebrations with a large group of people. For the price of $89 for buffet (on weekend) though, I found that it is far too expensive (especially when the food was average- more worth it if there were more seafood available). I found that the waiters were a bit rude (perhaps because they were just too busy?) but I asked a waitress if she was able to take a quick photo for us and she just said with a rude tone that she was busy and walked away. I totally understand that they were busy but the fact that she didn’t say “sorry, I’m busy at the moment” or offer to do it later when she has time or even ask someone else to take it for us was just unacceptable.

Worst restaurant ever in my life!! <br/>Food not like in the pictures. Never ever going back again . Seafood restaurant? ? About what? Just prawns and oyster? Dessert was very bad looks like macaroons but taste wasn't

Buffe was good as usual, not much to chose from, but what they had was pretty good. The deserts are 70% just chocolate based, so after the second bite u cant take anymore, but the options without chocolate are great!!

I'd been here a few years ago for the weekend sparkling buffet breakfast with the girls, and decided to go again with a half price deal on Dimmi.<br/>It wasn't as brilliant as I remembered, but fantastic for half price. For full price I would not have been impressed. <br/>Eggs benny are a staple brekkie favourite for me, but I avoided these because they looked sad and old. The made-to-order omelette, however, was delicious and huge. <br/>The pastries were nice and there was a nice selection of fruit. I enjoyed a berry smoothie and a fruit juice company lemonade. <br/>Included is barista made coffee which definitely adds to the value of coming here. <br/>Didn't have room for waffles or pancakes but they looked good. <br/>At half price, it's a 5 rating, but paying full I would give 3.5.<br/>Service was great and staff friendly. Lovely atmosphere with view overlooking the city.

Went for Seafood buffet dinner which only cost $34 pp due to 50% off dining via Dimmi!! Very worth the price with the oysters, prawns, mussels, cooked meats as well as an extensive range of delicious desserts!

Have been here a few times. Just for dinner and to celebrate special occasions. I always book online using the accor website and it asks you if it is for an occasion which is nice. They will try give you the nice seats with the lovely view. I think that's super nice they go that little bit extra to make it feel more special. <br/>I have always found the buffet here to be quite enjoyable. Nice range and every meal option seems to taste great. The morning breakfast is great too. Have always been pleased with the products here although its a bit expensive and if the street parking is not available that can be costly too.

Zom Zom had just lost my review, this is my second go...<br/><br/>Back when I was growing up, the Sheraton (later becoming Sofitel) buffet used to be my family special treat place for extra special occasions. The range & spread were always impressive, seafood fresh, and my fav was their bread selection (odd I know, but they were great bread). Fast forward 13 years, the prices had gone up heaps, almost $100 pp for food only. Lucky my friend had a 2 for 1 discount. The seafood spread is still impressive, oysters, bugs, crabs, prawns, mussels. A good range of cold salad, & hot food. The standout of the hot was the duck Maryland in orange sauce. I found the bread & dessert bars a bit disappointing, not for the lack of choice, but nothing particular stood out nor taste smashing. Overall, for half price it was still good value, but if you were paying full price, unless you rate quantity over quality, then there's probably better meal for $100 out there.

Last came here 3 years ago. Enjoyed the fresh seafood and the great variety of desserts. However the hot food selection didn't stand out. I only tried a bit and was not wowed by it. The seafood and dessert were good enough though!
Good Food Good Mood
Ah-mazing. It was all about the dessert for me and once I'd eaten a socially acceptable amount of actual main meal savouries I dove straight in to 5 courses of sweet treats. There was some serious Willy Wonka sh1t going on and I was in absolute heaven. Like I actually wanted to jump into the chocolate fountain. So much happy. Can't recommend it enough a chocolate lovers dream come true
Mea
Had the seafood buffet for birthday/anniversary celebration and I just love how fresh the seafood are and the unlimited amount of oysters😋😋😋 because we were chatting to the friendly staff there and they knew it was my birthday so they put together a mini plate of dessert today with a candle. Would definitely love to go there again

Had dinner here last night as we are currently staying at the sofitel. The venue itself is comfortable, cosy yet classy... we assumed that because it is sofitel; the food would be guaranteed to please. Boy, we were wrong! Seating is comfortable and wait staff are prompt... However the selection of food was appalling. For a place that charges an arm and a leg, and also charging me $47 daily for parking, i expected alot more. The salads were bland, the hot foods were limited, the sushi was sad and old and the seafood not so fresh according to my partner. <br/>A piece of advice; come to sofitel if you like beautiful rooms and views, save your money and avoid the buffet.

Really lovely evening at this place. Had a nice view overlooking the city near the fake cherry blossom tree. The staff were really on the ball with getting a high chair and introducing themselves.<br/><br/>The food... Definitely seafood and dessert were highlights. Fresh delicious oysters and prawns were my fav and the dessert spread looked amazing. The sponge cake, citrus tart stood out. The others were great too.<br/><br/>In terms of savories, seems a bit random but we really liked the smoked salmon mousse and the garlicky babaganoush. Was excited about the potato and leek soup as it's my favorite. Not disappointed. I also loved the butter chicken. Wish I had a bigger stomach for seconds.<br/><br/>I kind of wish the high chairs had a tray attached that would've made it a bit easier as it was a bit tight squeezing her into one side with me. Putting her on a corner wasn't really good as it was too difficult to eat from bowls / plates. Oh and byo plastic bowl if you don't want to risk LO breaking any plates / bowls. But yeah non paying customer so don't mind these work arounds.<br/><br/>All in all, an enjoyable night with delicious food. Thank you!

So disappointed with the experience especially when we've been looking forward to it for awhile. We had the seafood buffet but there was not much seafood and not many choices with the hot food. The food was ordinary, not what I expected from a five star hotel/restaurant. We arrived around 8pm (the second sitting) and most plates were empty and when I asked whether there will be more salmon, I was told no. The only thing I enjoyed was the dessert but it was hard to enjoy it when there was a cockroach crawling around our seats. Overall, it was a disappointing dining experience and the food was a let down especially for the price. Will not be coming back!

his place has everything that you would want to eat, and more! I headed straight to the seafood section - prawns, oysters, bugs and crabs were piled up high like the Mt.Everest of seafood. I had no plan of attack. I was astounded by the bountiful options presented in front of me, I was looking everywhere yet I didn’t know what to focus on. So, I ended up eating a bit of everything (isn’t that why buffets are so awesome?!) but with a main focus on the desserts, because they were simply too good to resist. Thyme2 has the largest range of dessert options of any other buffet restaurant that I have been to in Queensland and it’s something that you’ll have to see to believe.

Came here on their seafood buffet night. <br/><br/>I can recommend coming here when you're hungry as there's quite the selection to choose from.<br/><br/>The seafood was nice and fresh and the dessert you definitely need to leave room for cos it's amazing. <br/><br/>Bit pricey but understandable as its part of Sofitel....

Came in on a deal, thought we would be treated substandard because of it. Nup. Service was great (Amila in particular). I was going to order a la carte as I'm a grazer and don't eat much in a sitting but the food looked so good I went for the buffet. I was with a bunch of meat eating boys who loved the...

Nice mix of cuisine. Have various variety of cheese, ice cream and dessert. Overall a satisfied experience. Should visit to enjoy a relaxed environment with a glass of champagne or wine. Sea food lovers should give a try once. They prepare different dishes ranging from Italian, French to Indian.  Service was good but have to pay 1.5% extra charge if you are paying by credit or debit card.

When it comes to having a buffet dinner, one must be really spoilt for choice when deciding on what to eat. Thyme2 Interactive Restaurant is definitely the place to go when you want a huge variety of exotic and internationally themed dishes incorporating flavours and experiences in every dish they prepare. Currently with a Chocolat inspiration on both savoury and sweet dishes, diners won't be short of something amazing to try. As I dined on a Sunday evening the restaurant was a quiter which made it more enjoyable without being pushed and shoved as it can get on a Friday or Saturday. For me though, the outstanding dish of the evening was the Gipsy - Inspired Slow Cooked Lamb Shanks...melting away from the bone with a sauce that was to die for, I found myself even getting more sauce just to mop up with a bread roll or two! A great selection of deserts as well however tonight you'll only get 4.5 stars out of 5 because I was keen for ice cream and unfortunately there was none when I went up there. With friendly wait staff and chefs around to have a chat with about the meals; nice table settings and beautiful sculptures around the bufft; Thyme2 is definitely worth checking out. It is a bit more pricey than most buffets but once you see the selection you'll understand what your money can get you! Thanks for a wonderful dining experience.

Had an overnight family celebration and had the buffet! Overall food was good. There is a combination of cheeses, savoury, sushi and seafood, roasts, continental and pastas.<br/><br/>Dessert has a range of small pastries, sweets, and ice creams. They are nice but be mindful when getting buffet meals to leave room.<br/><br/>We also went back for breakfast in the morning which again had your typical range of breakfast food with eggs benedict, bacon, eggs, hash browns, pancakes and waffles, muesli, cereal and juices.<br/><br/>If your not staying with the hotel be mindful of parking as it is expensive around the city. Thyme2 is generally a nice place but in order to achieve higher rating, it requires more unique styles with food.

It's always interesting to dine at a restaurant over a few years to see if the quality improves or not. In this case, it's a very big not. I've been going with friends to this place for the past 3 years and there's been a significant decrease in their mains buffet. whilst the seafood selection has remained the same, the mains has gone significantly down hill.  it's mainly curries (eg mango chicken) and stews (what was with the 'queensland pineapple and beef stew?) now. I recall there was a time where there was fresh naan and garlic bread, but now that is absent too. The roast selection was overcooked pork, the roast vegetables were soggy. I'd say that the high light of the mains would've been the gnocchi gorgonzola. The chocolate fountain is now missing to be replaced with pastries. the dessert selection was ok, it was disappointing to see. Let's hope that management decide to revamp their budget because it's showing in their food.

Ive come here for my birthday for about 4 years now and had a few christmas dinners over the years and its honestly just so tasty. <br/>Service is always efficient and super friendly<br/>The cocktail selection is great!<br/>The cheese selection is even better<br/>Lots of variety and the desserts are to die for! I just want to dive in the chocolate fountain<br/>If youre thinking about dining here i would absolutely recommend it, great value for money as well<br/>See you next year for my 20th!

We've come to Thyme a number of times now for their seafood buffet. It is our personal favourite seafood buffet here in Brisbane. A great selection especially on Friday and Saturday nights, including prawns mussels, crab, oysters and salmon. Given it is in Sofitel, prices for the buffet are around the $70 mark. Service majority of the time is great.

It's been a few years since we dined at the Sofitel Thyme Restaurant for the buffet dinner, we had very high expectation as it was superb. The service from start to end was very friendly and warm, however the food was a big let down. We were quite disappointed to see the lack of items on display and the quality of the food. The mussels were nice but the oysters weren't as fresh as I expected with $99pp. Atmosphere was pleasant; we can't say we enjoyed the experience.

Saw an internet review about the place and went for a try on Wednesday lunch. The atmosphere, seating areas, views, services and the whole layout was marvelous, but the food was a disappointment.  I do not know if it was not the right time but dishes presented on the day has none where I can consider it as "French cuisine".  There were lots of Asian dishes such as Satay chicken, Thai pumpkin soup, sushi, steam vegetable and boil rice etc.  The deserts were impressive thou and maybe those deserts were the representation for the French cuisine.
Bunny
Came here for my birthday with two friends and it was really enjoyable. Loved how they did a happy birthday chocolate plate! <br/>The savoury buffet was nice, not great but it was enjoyable, wouldn't say it was worth the $99 excluding beverages but I would come back for special occasions since the decor was so lovely!
The Food Oracle
I know it is at the Sofitel and I know it has oysters that you can gorge yourself on, but I was disappointed. The main meals were tasty but some were flawed - the osso bucco was yum but could have done with a few more hours in the slow cooker. The fish was nice but overdone, the blue cheese, walnut, rocket salad had no dressing, the desserts were subpar, they seemed to taste very plasticky and the chocolate fountain was that icky cheap nasty chocolate. Keep in mind I am only complaining here, everything else (and there is ALOT to choose from) was good or very good - not amazing. <br/>For the price we paid, I wanted it to be amazing.
Mr X
Went due to the half price deal on Dimmi, and at the discounted price it was worth the money, but at full price...not so much. In saying that, the variety of food available was quite good. The oysters, potato gratin, prawns and champagne jelly were a standout for me. The layout of the buffet was quite novel, like the baguette stall and the chocolate fountain. <br/><br/>I would say that Conrad Jupiters at the Gold Coast is very close to being on par with this buffet, with a lower price tag.<br/><br/>Like another reviewer said, when wait staff took away seafood bowls, they sometimes didn't replace them and water stopped being refilled at a certain point. If you are going to come here, be sure to come on a weekday, it's a bit too pricey on the weekend.
ElsewhereBriefly
Went with a Dimmi deal, which made it alright value. Not convinced it would be good value at $98 per person for a weekend dinner though. Seafood was alright, the NZ mussels being the best thing there, with king prawns coming a close second. Frozen and defrosted bugs not so good. Sushi selection was token and anaemic-looking. Warm food items were, unfortunately, rather mediocre. There was really only one dish in the limited range you would go back for (black pepper chicken). Also not sure why it's called an interactive dining experience, as the only interaction with a chef/cook was when they sliced the lamb roast for you. Better range of desserts than mains.<br/>The restaurant was quite busy when we were there, but service was lacking at times. They took away our seafood/shell bowls and did not give us new ones. Even when most of the other patrons had left and it was quieter, we weren't able to get any of the waitstaff to refill our water glasses.<br/>Overall, OK, but not fantastic.

One of the advantages of being a foodie, is that everyone tells you when there are good deals on. On this note, I was advised that Thyme² at Sofitel had half price buffets if you booked through Dimmi. As with my previous entries on buffets, I will not bore you with excessive details, but merely give brief explanations on what we had.
The Invisible Food Critic
Could be one of the best Buffets in Brisbane. There aren't any good buffets in general around Brisbane (excluding Gold Coast area), hence this may be the best there is to offer. The oysters were average, prawns are okay, spanner crabs were decent, the Moreton Bay Bugs were pretty good, the mussels were actually the highlight of the night, the hot dishes were mediocre, and the desserts were okay. We had the wine buffet as well, with two choices of champaign, two choices of whites, and three choices of red... All were "drinkable $10-$20 bottles". Decor is obviously nice as usual for Sofitel Hotels and service was excellent (we actually tipped the waiter). Due to 2 pregnant women on our table, they gave us an enormous seafood platter that was reheated to ensure it wasn't exposed to any raw seafoods during presentation ie: oysters at the buffet station. It took a little while but it was good they were thinking about their customers. Price were good as well as we only paid $55pp due to online specials.

Best breakfast in town, amazing buffet dinner, especially if you're an Accor member, then it's 50% off. Always eat at least one meal here on every trip to Brisbane.

This buffett restaurant is located in Brisbane Softel Hotel. The idea is to arrange different types of cusines as the major theme of the week running maybe up to a month. Whatever the theme is going on, they still serve basic foods including seafood in the cold dishes section. I don't like this idea because i don't think the chefs are good at covering different types of cuisines so the quality of dishes presented will lead to serious problems. Moreover, I don't like the varieties of seafoods that they presanted as I compare them with those I can have in Terraces restaurant of Sheraton Mirage in Gold Coast. The main issue is that they are really over-priced.
V
Overpriced. Came here for lunch on Anzac day, they didn't have a public holiday surcharge which is good. We got a 50% off deal so the price was reasonable but if I paid full price I would be very disappointed. Service was great and the free flowing sparkling was a nice treat.<br/><br/>There wasn't a great selection of salads. Seafood was ok- the oysters were bitter but the prawns and mussels were great and very fresh.<br/><br/>There were no pasta and the hot food wasn't very tasty. <br/><br/>Huge selection of desserts. <br/><br/>Would I come again? Maybe. Would I pay full price? Never.

Mrs Wendy Anderson. My son and I had dinner there on a recent Tueday night. We thought the Buffett was well worth the expense.<br/><br/>The seafood was plentiful and very fresh and constantly replenished.<br/><br/>There was a vast array of hot dishes all beautifully presented and delicious,we thought the barramundi was outstanding.<br/><br/>A nice selection of cheeses and for those with a sweet tooth like us the desserts were hard to resist.<br/><br/>The wine buffet recommended by our waitress was great ,along with her cheerful service.<br/><br/>We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast and found that just as impressive

Diana. Return visit intending to try the buffet, decided against it when we had a wander around. The whole salmon had been picked clean & even when we had finished our meal it still had not been replenished. Our a la carte experience was better this time, much quieter seat against the window with a pleasant outlook at the clock tower. The waiter who was from Nice (France), was very attentive without being over the top. My risotto was very good smooth & creamy with a nice bite & lots of fresh vegetables. The avocado salad was a bit bland needed a punch. Partner happy with his pulled pork, but have to say on the whole the prices are a little over the top. It is good food but not outstanding enough to warrant the prices. As far as the buffet goes way overpriced at $98 a head!<br/><br/><br/>-----01 Feb, 2015-----<br/><br/>Diana. We dined a la carte amid all the other diners who were having the buffet. The buffet looked great although I guess the proof is in the tasting. Our a la carte experience was far from the romantic dining experience we were expecting, however I did enjoy my trout. Partner was not over impressed with his pasta, very ordinary
BD
Disappointing. Went on a weeknight, albeit 23 Dec. to find that the "Interactive dining Experience" was replaced (unannounced on their website) with the $99 seafood buffet. Had already parked, and made the assumption it would be special for that price. Unfortunately it was very underwhelming. Gritty oysters with plenty of broken bits of shell, crab pieces with little meat, dry chewy mussels and tasteless prawns. Standard carvery fare for non-seafood or some Indian dishes(?).<br/>The service was only average. Had to ask for finger-bowls, plates were not cleared promptly (we had to stack them at the corner of the table) and for periods the staff were nowhere to be seen. To top this all off they attempted to charge me for a bottle of wine when I only had a glass!<br/>Will not return.<br/> - and a 1.5% credit card surcharge !
The Devourer Of Food
Damn fine place that has never failed me. Now ... Leave me alone to my massive load of tasty seafood and desert. Oh, I need a largerug for the chocolate fountain. Leave the champagne berry jelly, all of it, so we can do shots.
Delia
I'm not a buffet person but...$70+? Really?. I wasn't disappointed. It was pretty much what I was expecting; mediocre. In terms of substantial hot food, there was little choice, especially if you weren't game for the uninspiring curry options. As for the seafood, the prawns were okay but the bugs were clearly frozen, then thawed. If you have to resort to freezing your seafood, why bother offering it? Also, most of the desserts were just layers of tasteless sponge, gelatin and imitation cream/mousse. Some fruit would have been nice to have with the chocolate fountain but all there seemed to be was biscuits and marshmallows. But hey, it's a buffet; it's going to be limited and lacking in quality, so i'm not surprised but I'm just suuuper glad I didn't have to pay.

Disappointing Lunch Buffet. AAAAAAAAAAh remembering the good ole days of the Sheraton with plenty of fresh seafood of all variety and hot and cold dishes to boot. Sadly those days are gone. The seafood was prawns and some mussels - the prawns obviously been frozen with the softness you get when shelling then and quite tasteless. My companion also commented the seafood sauce was also not up the standard it was - quite bland. Now for my real gripe - the hot dishes were uniformly Indian - 6 of them and rounded off with Poppadoms and Naan. I asked if we'd come on an Indian Special Themed Saturday and was told no, this is their regular fare. Now guys if you want to dine out on an Indian Buffet I would suggest there are plenty around not charging $77 a head for the experience. There was some roast pork - quite dry and when I asked for veg - not feeling like the rice on offer, pointed to some very very ordinary vegetable in another bain marie. Desserts were a plethora of agar agar stuff in little glasses, uniformly left untouched by us Aussie diners and underneath the usual sponge cakey offers now found on buffets. Serve yourself coffee was strong and brewed and virtually undrinkable - aah, I reminisce about the fresh plungers of coffee delivered to your table by Johnny and other old Sheraton staff who made a very average lunch on this occasion, bearable with filling up the bottomless sparkling wine. The chocolate fountain was also quite average considering other 5 star hotel choices - c'mon Sofitel, if we wanted an Indian Buffet, we'd go looking for one

I could eat my body weight of the mussels at Thyme2 - they are always plump and delicious!!! They alone keep us coming back time and time again but the full package also satisfies.

Restaurant, yes. Interactive, no.. Dined here on a 50% food discount promotion for the weekday buffet dinner. First time visiting, liked the venue, settings, decor and ambience. Good variety of food (supposedly even better on the pricier weekend menu), however three main things disappointed me:<br/>1. The European section (roasts?) had run out by 8-something, a little over halfway through the dinner service (6-10pm). I think this was also supposed to be the interactive stations, so having zero interactive elements when you have "interactive restaurant" as part of your name is surely not a winning move.<br/>2. Apart from the pappadums, chutneys/dips and basmati rice, everything else in the Indian section (3 curries, naan) was for me below par taste wise.<br/>3. Service was pretty good apart from our water not being topped up at all during the night, and then when I asked a waiter for some, pointing to my wife's glass, he came and filled up her glass but not mine.<br/><br/>Would I come back? Probably not if I was paying full price at $69/head, or another ~$30 to come on a weekend, even with Moreton bay bugs and other seafood as drawcards.<br/><br/>PS. there's a 1.5% surcharge on all credit card payments. I was a little surprised by this but wasn't sure if it might be common / industry practice in hotel restaurants.

Th atmosphere is good, it definitely has the 5 star feel. A couple of adjustments could be made to make it much better. The lighting near the windows could be a little bit brighter. The food selection is good, and the assorted cakes were just so yummy. Nice selection of seafood on weekdays too. Unlimited oysters and mussels and prawns. There were a lot of sands in the prawns, not quite sure why. But overall it's pretty good place to have a buffet, staffs were friendly. However, is it a place I would go without the half price discount? Probably not. It would be more for a special occasions. All your can eat buffet is $98 per person on Friday nights and Saturday nights, week nights are $69 per person and week day lunch is $59. Sundays are also at those prices.

Disappointing. We booked in with the urbanspoon special. While the ambiance and service was great, we were highly let down by the selection. For an interactive kitchen, there was nothing interactive about it. They had two food varieties which were Spanish and Indian. They had one roast pork as well. The only saving grace to make it worth the meal were there prawn and oyster bar. That was beyond delicious and fresh. When it came to dessert, it was supposed to bra featuring chocolate. The chocolate we did taste was absolutely horrendous and the rest of their varieties were a waste of calories. You're better off In the grocery store eating a packet of Tim tams. Everything about this meal was mediocre and definitely not worth the money especially if you are paying for parking on top of it. Everything was lukewarm on top of it all and seemed as if it had been sitting in there for ages. Overrated

What a beautiful experience. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and stellar service.

Very blah.. Incredibly over-priced and absolutely not worth it for dinner. The breakfast was much nicer, but still genuinely not worth the price. The Stamford and The Hilton both have far better buffets. Pay less at either of those hotels, for much better food and more attentive staff.

Not impressed. We always stay at the Sofitel when in Brisbane. Chiefly due to convenience . .Sometimes we have lunch and dinner at Thyme. The food is virtually the same for lunch as it is for dinner. The food itself isn't impressive for the price. The desserts were boring and mostly tasteless. One the last night we went, we sat close the the waiters station. The entire 3 courses we had to remove our plates and put them on the bench of the waiters station. They even saw me do it the first time. I thought perhaps they would make sure I wouldn't need to it again.No. I saw 2 wait staff "Fluffing" over a lone gentlemen who appeared to be a regular with OCD. When finally I said something, there was no apology, just that she was busy , and what would I like now....nothing...I'm finished eating and leaving now. I' glad I could help do her job for her. So Now we are booked into the Marriott and trying their services

Overpriced, barely warm 'hot' food and a poor selection. The seafood was unimpressive - average prawns and oysters. The hot meals offered a couple of luke warm Asian dishes, Indian (which I didn't bother with as I'm quite sure I wouldn't compete with my local) and roast pork (good flavour but no crackling and they ran out 8pm). The roast potatoes were luke warm and the pumpkin had no flavour. Very disappointing. If you want to spend $69 per person on a meal go to Ecco or Public. You'd even be better off at sizzler - at least the food would be hot!

Best Buffet in Brisbane!. Thyme2 is an excellent buffet - but you never know what you're going to get as the menu changes frequently. The downside of this is that sometimes there are no strawberries for the chocolate fountain - which is one of the main attractions of this buffet - and this isn't to do with the season either as I've been here during the peak of strawberry season and there have been no strawberries. That said, the desert selection here is by far the best of all of the buffets in Brisbane that I have been to. All of the deserts are classic favorites and rich and decadent - tiramisu, baked cheese cake, lemon meringue, very good chocolate cake, caramel tart - many different things but those are just the ones I remember. There are A LOT of desserts, and a great selection of ice cream too!<br/>The hot food is also very good - good selection of Indian curries with naan bread and all of the trimmings, and all sorts of other types of hot food, meat and seafood. The fresh seafood selection here is excellent, especially the prawns which are the best I've had at a buffet - very fresh and very large. There is also sushi however the sushi is always a bit stale and dry and best avoided. Overall this buffet has the BIGGEST selection of food of all the buffets I've been to, so there is a really good variety and something for everyone to enjoy. I love going here because of the great food, but also the very pleasant classy atmosphere - this place is perfect for a Birthday or anniversary!

Not worth the money for the buffet... :( really dissappointed, we spent the whole month looking forward to celebrating our anniversary there and not only was it way too overpriced but none of the staff even acknowledged the special occasion. Definitely won't be recommending anyone or returning back. I suggest celebrating special occasions elsewhere.

Incredibly unimpressive. The Sofitel website advertises a "full seafood buffet" however what was on offer the day we visited was less than full or plentiful. The seafood options available were natural oysters, cooked prawns, mussels, barramundi and a seafood stew. Seriously short of my definition of a "full seafood buffet". The cheese station was well stocked but lacked accompaniments such as quince. The desserts were boring and stale. Would advise people to save their money and go else where. Much nicer restaurants around, particularly in the CBD

YUM breakfast! Tables crammed in, stressed staff. We went for breakfast (Sunday morning) for my 2 year old's birthday. The food was plentiful and hot! Very yummy. However, we felt very crammed in with a mass of other diners. There was absolutely no room for opening the presents and cutting the cake we bought with us, so that was very disappointing. They are very under staffed. The staff that did serve us were trying to be nice, but they were obviously very stressed! My sister wanted to order from the menu, but we were given the bill as soon as we sat down for 3 buffets. Oh well. Its not the relaxed weekend breakfast I had envisaged, but the food was YUM!

Look elsewhere. A real let down, this buffet has seafood on Fri and Sat evening, which attracts a $98 per head price tag. Friday 20th Sep the buffet 2nd and 3rd rate seafood at best. Oysters are small, carry no taste and were questionable quality, Bugs were small and over cooked, Sand crabs were well overcooked and scallops small tough and overcooked. A bad supply here for sure. <br/><br/>If, s it seemed to be the case at a couple of tables, you were wanting to showcase a meal of beautiful Queensland seafood to a group of international business visitors, you would be let down badly. <br/><br/>The rest of the buffet was ordinary to say the least, with the exception of the Indian curries which I would expect is up to the standard of a good food court. <br/><br/>Not anywhere near the standard of $175.00 per head this costs with drinks and a bottle of wine. NZ Marlborough Savs are up to $90.00 per bottle, although the service of drinks was good. <br/><br/>As a final insult tried to charge a 1.5% surcharge on Visa. This was the absolute last straw. If you are looking to ruin a good night out, this is the place to do it<br/><br/>First time - Last time here.

Thyme - Brisbane CBD. Never mind the price tag - as well as the conontations of the hotel name "Sheradon", this is a really relaxed place for a buffet that promises good quality food. Many people come here for the food, whether or not they are staying in town or simply live elsewhere in it. The planners really know how to make it interesting and to have people come back here several times. <br/><br/>There are several kinds of stations here: you have your salad items, there is an entree one (that is free of the fried nibbles that might get associated with the term "entree"), a dessert bar that is complete with a chocolate fountain - completely fun to put the marshmallows on a stick into, a constant Indian section where the dishes are being cooked right in front of your face complete with all the condiments and the one that keeps on bringing people back - a changing theme! This time (upon reviewing) it was Italian, with an interactive section where you could choose your desired ingredients for a pasta dish plus sauce and they cook it fresh in front of you - I had anchovies, capers and sundried tomato pesto in a cream sauce. It was like pasta being made right out of Italy itself. <br/><br/>As a change of pace there was a wide selection of seafood being offered throughout the buffet which is often done for dinner. It makes sense considering how big seafood is in Italy (and I have heard it is much more common than pasta). There were fresh oysters, prawns to peel and lovely mussels from New Zealand. All fresh and on ice. <br/><br/>There was so much it is hard to keep track of everything that I ate there; but I did sample a fair few items. <br/>From what there was, several nibbles began with lovely prosscuttio (there was even that slicing machine, though I was not sure whether that was for show or diners could operate it themselves; if I tried something could have gone wrong), sopressa, a cold fish and caper dish known as vittello tonnato, the seafood salad insalata di polpo (those who know their Italian can vouch for what was in it) and several kinds of cheese. It was diverse and a good and adventorous start to an eating experience. <br/><br/>I say with open honesty I cannot hold as much as I could in a buffet than before but I attempted to get more on my plate. There was some fantastic osso bucco and a mushroom rissotto on the mains sections plus what appeared to be a chili crusted barramundi. These were all top quality and did not feel like they were sitting there sweating for an inordinate amount of time (with the turnout of eaters though, you might be able to see how and why). <br/><br/>Finally, the desserts were all very good as well. There was the aforementioned chocolate fountain which is hard to resist and merriunges plus the fridge with all sorts of little individual sweets - I had a mousse. <br/><br/>All up, this place is amongst Brisbane's must-dos (says a bit about the city to the tourist perspective) and worth the effort even once.

Today it was truly exquisite faire. The seafood bouillabaisse with the croute de<br/>Aioli captured the essence of seafood and the staff were generous with their foody advice!!

We were celebrating a family birthday and attended the breakfast buffet. We were wedged into the furthest corner so that it was difficult to get in and out of our seats, it seemed to come as a surprise to the "supervisor". She vanished and never came near us again all morning. The room is like an obstacle course so getting to the buffet required weaving in and out of tables. There were staff but they were rude and not at all interested in serving. At one point one server became annoyed because we were ordering coffees and just bought us "plungers" telling us that would be easier- for whom?!<br/>My husband and I ordered our coffees (2 macchiatos) twice, they never arrived. <br/>The buffet selection is pedestrian uninspiring and overpriced. Our table received no attention noone bothered to clear so crockery just stacked up.<br/>The only time anyone came to speak to us was at 10.25 to tell us the buffet was closing.<br/>I feel so sorry for my cousin who was paying for us all and had expected a refined and elegant morning.<br/>We are Platinum Accor members and this is not what we have come to expect from Sofitel. <br/>I see others have complained too about the service and nothing has changed. Don't go there!

Good food, aggressive service, average atmosphere. The atmosphere of Thyme2 is more akin to that of a cafeteria than a fine a $$$$ dining establishment, it was noisy, with diners frequently walking past our table carrying their well stacked buffet plates. The waitress quite harsh and abrasive, pushing a bottle of sweet moscato when we had ordered a much higher value cab merlot, just plain weird. When we informed the waitress that we were having the a la carte and not the buffet , our waitressed huffed, and reluctantly the tatty menus passed across the table at us.<br/><br/>On a more positive note the steak was tender and well cooked, the lobster thermidor was OK, however the dry mash was cold, and the vegies were were soggy and tasteless.<br/><br/>If you are a fan of buffets, then Thyme2 could be for you, for a la carte dining , there are many significantly better options available in Brisbane. 5/10

The food here is absolutely amazing! Love the fresh seafood they have to offer and everything else aswell! Love this gourmet buffet!

I'm not usually a buffet person but this place is amazing. So much to choose from! The view they gave us for a last minute booking was beautiful. The waitress was lovely. I loved everything about the place. Cheese cart! Sooo good. I have recommended so many people.

I was unsure of what to expect when I went to Thyme2 on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday. We attended the 'second session' at 8pm which was $10 more expensive, making it almost an exorbitant cost for what is essentially an all you can eat buffet. <br/><br/>We arrived right on 8 which meant most of the food had recently been replenished. You need to get in early to get some of the oysters. The seafood selection was great (crab, bug, oysters and prawns). Yes, paying more did mean better quality. <br/><br/>I enjoyed the mains too - heaps on offer. Paella, ham, turkey, roast beef or pork, curries with all the condiments. <br/><br/>The desserts were delicious. I enjoyed the chocolate mousse cup, Yule log and some chocolate dipped marshmallows. Others on my table had the sorbet, fruit mince pies, strawberry mousse and Christmas pudding. My only issue would have been the poor quality of the fruit - both the strawberries and cherries lacked flavour and weren't ripe. <br/><br/>Overall it was a great night - our waitress knew there was a birthday on the table and gave us a happy birthday plate with a couple of chocolates and a candle. All the wait staff were helpful and friendly although it did take a while to get some drinks ordered <br/><br/>Is it worth the big price? NO. But for a special occasion, knowing that everyone's food tastes would be safely covered, it's a nice treat.

Good buffet. I found this restaurant has gone down in food quality over the years, especially since the renovations (maybe too much money spent on furnishings). But I would still head to this place for a buffet in Brisbane, good wide range of selections, both cold and hot. The dessert selection is also pretty good. The price is high, but I think it's in line with other buffet places around. For me, probably the most decent buffet place in Brisbane.

Regular. Never dissapoints, my partner and I are accor members which is a massive bonus, definitely value for money being a member. The weekend lunch is our favorite dining time, endless champagne + amazing food.....Sweeeeet.

Trendy Tasty. If you're looking for somewhere different to eat this is it. Fun to put on some fancy clothes and come here try all the different cuisines. Average price for a buffet even though its not the usual loads of the same things you get elsewhere. Its great watching them cook up the different types food. Desserts really were a treat. Coming here is fun and worth the experience

Love it every time I go! We have an Accor advantage plus card so find it great value! Great variety and quality. Service is amazing! Never disappointed.

Quite delightful. I find hotel buffets hit and miss for the most part, that said, I found Thyme to be well worth the price and effort. All the standard 'features' are there and it's the little details that made it stand out - a great cheese cart, an 'olive station' (perhaps to accompany their current Italian theme), terrific dessert selection and an unexpectedly good Indian food area (with a great mango and peach chutney). Seafood was fresh and plentiful. Our waitress - Florence, from Reunion Island of all places - was charming and lovely and to top it all off, there's quite a good view looking out across Anzac Square. Not cheap, though you do get what you pay for. Recommended.

No oysters. We dined here on queens birthday evening...and was quite disappointed they did not have any Oysters.....<br/>Oysters is the only reason why we dine there.....

Best 5 star hotel breakfast in Brisbane, except fot the grumpy maitre'd. Had breakfast here during the week and it was excellent. Omlette station, excellent pastries, salmon, sushi, quality bread selection, fresh make your own juice station and smoothies. Maitre'd seemed to have been coming off the night shift perhaps and was efficient but not friendly at all. Real coffees included in buffet price $40 pp. <br/>Better than any other 5 star hotel restaurant breakfast in Bris.

The service let this restaurant down, was seated for almost 20 mins without the wait staff offering us any drinks, my husband had to get up and ask plus there was no table water. Paid $11 for a large bottle of pelegrino. Service is broken into 2 2 1/2 hour sessions, we attended the 8pm session where we paid an extra $10 per person. Seafood was not as good as other 5 star hotel buffets and was not very impressed with the hot selection either, great if you like curries.

Overall dining at Thyme2 was quite disappointing. The highlights were the seafood, the view & theusic entertainment. When it came to the main meals & desert - not so good. Beverages are also extremely overpriced. I will not be returning.

Lunch buffet. Pretty popular with the granny set. Reasonably priced for what's on offer. Desserts somewhat disappointing. Liked the roasts, fresh breads, and sabayon the best. Avoid the sushi and dry salads.

Skip the main!. This restaurant is perfect for the antipasto and dessert lovers alike- both selections simply out of this world! <br/><br/>Dips, cheeses, macaroons, the chocolate fondue and home made ice-cream, this part of the buffet did not disappoint. <br/><br/>Unlike the mains... don't go here expecting anything special from the mains. They look appealing but lacked variety and flavour. The drinks are also excessively over priced! <br/><br/>Overall, the lack luster mains are forgiven when you are sitting looking out over the clock tower enjoy and plate for of amazing desserts with your loved one. Give it a go.

Came on sat night after landing from Tokyo japan that morning, very basic in regards to seafood only carry bugs, prawns and sand crab!! Iteration than that the buffet is huge with hot meats and indian.. Found it value for money if eating all food.. A little on the high side if looking for seafood!! Worth a look as the venue has a nice feel and mood

Nothing special.

I was very excited about the food and we soon made our way to the buffet itself. There were various stations including one for bread, oysters, cold starters including sushi and smoked salmon, salads, warm dishes including an Indian section, ice cream, dessert and a magnificent chocolate fondue fountain. It was almost too beautiful and I had to tell myself to take it easy and pace myself lest I get too full too quickly.<br/><br/>The smoked salmon from the cold starters was superb. Tasty and tender with not a single tough edge, just how it should be. I love the chermoula potato salad and the red cabbage coleslaw from the selection of salads. I had the onion sourdough from the boulangerie and it was out of this world. It was soft and t

To celebrate my sister's birthday, my family went to Thyme Restaurant at Sofitel to try out their buffet. It was just the right amount of fancy for a family dinner but with also the right amount of cuisines/dishes/dessert to suits every kind of taste bud. As part of "La Concina Espanola" happening at Sofitel this month, their food also reflects this recent Spanish inquisition. The menu boasted of paellas, chorizo, Spanish soups and sangria jelly. My mum and dad enjoyed particularly enjoyed the seafood (raw oysters and prawns) while my sister enjoyed the dessert (sorbet!).

A seafood lover's dream sums up Thyme 2.

The selection and quality, especially hot foods, simply did not live up to expectations. And I assume there is already a better selection on the weekends compared to weekdays, although I could be wrong. I’m glad we dined for 50% off because the regular price of $76 per person is exorbitant.

here were mains from Modern Australia, India, China all with enough dishes to satisfy even the pickiest people. There were more than enough desserts on offer; the chocolate fondue fountain with marshmallow sticks and apple jelly cups were popular among my work cohort. This is a wonderful buffet and I would highly recommend going.

Even though I've been spoilt in the area of breakfast buffets coming into 2011, I find that Thyme2 is definitely up there in terms of variety and quality of food. The dining environment is very pleasantand I like that it wasn't too crowded.
