Review Barcella Restaurant - Brisbane

Nathan
I had a very filling breakfast here. The dish below is a Mediterranean stack with hash browns added, it was very tasty. The coffee was good (but not spectacular). It's also off to the side of the centre so it's not too noisy There were a couple of dirty tables however and given how quiet the restaurant was I feel that could have been avoided.

The coffee and service are perfect. The food we ordered were okay. Not as good as how we expect though with their slightly expensive price. I actually struggled between 3 or 4 stars, and I took the noisy background into consider, 3 it is.

Staffs friendly : ★★★★★ tasty : ★★★ Visited after lunch. The staff was so friendly. Thank you for your kindness, even if you care more because there are no guests.

Had a lovely authentic seafood paella for two and was met by excellent service and recommendations. Pari/Parry? was super helpful with gluten free recommendations for coeliac. One of the most considerate and informed waitresses I've ever spoken to actually, which made me feel at ease with my allergy. There was an abundance of options for gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, even "gym conscious". Love their progressive menu. The seafood was piping hot, just the way it should be, and super tasty. Arrived in about 10 mins. Would definitely come back to try breakfast or lunch and would recommend to my friends and family. Thank you

Staff were very helpful as one of us is a coeliac! Food was delicious. The strawberry lime drink was lovely! Staff were very courtesy, helpful.

Went with friends and family for a birthday dinner and it was lovely. Food was fresh and delicious, customer service was good although the young lady serving did seem to get confused easily and needs to learn not to try and rush people but she did pretty well for a large table. Took a long time to get the wine out and then it was the wrong one but lovely when arrived and the cocktails were delicious. Was a great night.

Went for dinner Friday night. Overall disappointing. Chips were over cooked / cooked in old oil (was assured this wasn't the case...the taste said otherwise). Spaghetti Marinara pasty & soggy. Service was okay if somewhat brusque. I think the waitress missed her true vocation as a Headmistress. Will not be back.

Barcella is a favourite of my daughter's - the menu is a diverse one but everything I've tried has been very good. A great culinary experience.

Open grill is actually only one small slice of Turkish bread with some topping. Pretty disappointed and won't be back and got charged almost $11 for this tiny tiny bit of food. And this is on their lunch menu.

Thank you to Aaron and James for the wonderful dinning experience today. Your service was outstanding. You are a credit to your employers. The Zucchini slice was the best I have ever tasted and the cake was yum. Would definitely recommend Barcella to my friends and family.

Just wow! I checked in to the Barcella Cafe, and when we had finished breakfast the manager came over and introduced himself. He had seen the post and wanted to ask what we thought of the service. This is the first time in all of my FB check-ins that a proprietor has recognised a social media post. We've just found our new regular cafe.

$5.40 for a little glass of hot chocolate? No thanks. I'll go next door to coffee hit next time and get one twice the size for pretty much the same price.

Try it once it's really yummy. Culinary and culturally satisfying. Great for a healthy alternative of Mediterranean flavours and cuisine. Find your traditional favourites burgers and fires and sweets in healthier options, just ask. Fantastic. I would take my review as setting the standard honestly you won't be disappointed. SHERRI

Good service. Wholesome food. Good coffee. Can't go wrong, really. The place is new so you might see lots of staff in training, but they are trained very well. Good variety menu. 👍🏻

Dropped in to the Barcella Cafe near Big W for lunch with my husband.
When ordering I asked if we could have our coffee after the meal and would it be better to order it after the meal, the young girl said no order it now and let us know when you want it. After about 10 minutes she brought the coffee over and we still hadn't received our meal. I told her that we ordered it after the meal, she apologised and was going to take them back, but we said that was ok we would have them now while we were waiting for our meal, so she left them. We were very disappointed as they were stone cold and not very strong, but didn't say anything, feeling for the young girl as she was very polite. My husband ordered a gluten free turkey, cheese and bacon open grilled sandwich. He was very disappointed. For a start the chips were beer battered, so he couldn't have any chips, normally when he can't have chips other places add a little side salad, but he had no greenery at all, not even a piece of lettuce on the sandwich. The gluten free bread was not even toasted and cold straight out of the fridge or freezer and the turkey cheese and bacon had been grilled at some stage as the cheese was melted, but was stone cold when he got it and very unappetising and we waited quite a long time for it and there were only two other couples in the cafe.
I ordered a beef wrap and it was just ok. The whole time we were there, two girls dropped in and were talking to the boy and girl behind the counter, they had a coffee each while they were talking to them but I noticed one of them went behind the counter and put hers in the microwave, so obviously hers was cold as well.
Not a very good experience, so we won't be going there again.

Noticed this cafe on a recent rip to Carindale Shopping Centre. Was in need of my usual coffee hit so ordered a take away flat white (being on the run as usual) The coffee came out pretty good, although could have been stronger for my taste. Great selection of cakes & treats in display cabinet
$10 for coffee and toast and the pieces of toast were the flimsiest little bits of bread I have ever seen (was barely toasted so it was just warm bread really). Too expensive for what it was. Usually when you order toast with jam or honey etc they give you the toast buttered but with the condiment on the side so you can add it to your liking - not here sadly.

Coffee was ok - very strong so if you aren't a fan ask for half strength

Friendly and accommodating service. Ordered two pizzas, Vegetarian & Mediterranean; they were ok and generally average. Lacking in a bit in flavour. The pizza dough recipe was bland but it was cooked through which was good. Layout and seating arrangement is quite unusual. The POS could easily be integrated into the main counter, but had two separate tills on either side in the middle of the seating area. A little confusing when trying to pay the bill.

This place was OK in every sense. Coffee was OK, but not amazing. Also had the chicken and chorizo pizza that was OK, but not amazing. Convenient place in the shopping centre for a quick bite to eat.

My avo on toast was soo tasty! I came here with my dad who got a pizza. I tried some and thought it had great flavours although a little dry. The staff were pleasent and we had a lovely meal. The atmosphere was really great and creates a lovely place to have a chat. I would happily return and would order the avo in toast again.

Located at the ground floor of the Carindale Shopping Centre near Big W, this café provides a huge venue with nice and comfortable set-up. Came in this morning and ordered the Scones w Jam & Butter and a Flat White deal for only $8.00. Took a seat near the kitchen and approached by a friendly waitress to apologise that it was too early and the chef was making the scone and the scone would not be ready in 15 minutes. Due to the fact that I needed to go in a rush so I change the scone to a raisin toast and the waitress even upgrade my coffee in a large size. I appreciated the Merlo coffee that they served, however, the toast was completely a let down due to the texture of the bread seemed like left over from last night. Well. maybe it was too early and the fresh bread had not delivered from the supplier yet and it is a shame. I may go back for the scone one day.

Enjoyed a strong coffee and a healthy breakfast of avocado on sourdough with fetta and balsamic. Both the coffee and the meal came out quickly. The young staff are friendly and the cafe is light, spacious and clean. A good choice for coffee and brunch.

Situated inside Westfield Carindale, this warm open cafe is a nice option for lunch or a coffee. The service I received was excellent and the Merlo coffee very nice too. There were a number of nice looking sweet options and the house made mini scones hit the spot for me.

Really great service. Staff were all lovely. Had flamenco eggs. Very different to what I am use to having for b'fast. Will be back next Saturday.

Very nice and inviting decor. This cafe has totally changed this end of the shopping centre. Best chicken and chorizo paella I have ever had. I could eat that everyday. The best coffee in Westfield by far.

I had lunch at Barcella on Boxing Day. I ordered the vegetarian pizza with prawns. I was a little disappointed. The base was thin and crispy but rather bland, and the black olives were also bland. I paid an extra $5 for four medium sized prawns. The pizza was average at best and I didn't feel that it was value for $22.50. For this to be a great pizza, it needed a better base, a few more ingredients (e.g. mushrooms, sun dried tomato, fresh basil) and just a bit more quality.

I had lunch at Barcella today. The menu posted near the entrance looked promising. A staff member approached and advised that the zucchini fritters with haloumi were the best thing on the menu. It sounded lovely. Apart from a table right at the entrance there were no other tables for four. We were advised we could push some tables together which we did. We were then advised to order at the counter when we were ready.

Our meals arrived 15 minutes after ordering. The zucchini fritters were topped with spinach, haloumi, poached eggs and a sauce. I cut into the eggs. Nothing! No oozing liquid centre. Immediate disappointment. As the waitress was placing someone else's meal I took the opportunity to tell her the eggs were overcooked. She offered a replacement without fuss and asked if I preferred them soft poached - it's really the only way they should ever come.

The second plate arrived shortly after. The eggs were slightly softer but still didn't ooze. The haloumi was nice but barely detectable due to the overwhelming taste of the sauce. It was a barbecue sauce and was far too strong tasting for the delicate eggs and cheese. I informed the waiter as he cleared the table. He said he agreed and they were quite willing to exchange sauces as the salmon version of the dish comes with a hollandaise. I suggested they place it on the side if they intend to use this one. In reality, if the eggs had been soft it wouldn't have needed a sauce.

I had high expectations of this place. It looks great, the menu is inviting and it is away from the hustle and bustle of the food court. They have an opportunity to differentiate themselves but the food is merely average and the need to order at the counter and move our own table meant that we paid for service we felt we didn't receive. I won't be hurrying back.

Wow, this place is new. This used to be a lil ok'd cafe that had been here forever. This place is bright, light and airy. I've just stopped in for a quick soy, flat white. The coffee is nice and hot and is perfectly made.
