Review Little Valley - Brisbane

Hau Nguyen
This restaurant is true to the theme of Long Time and Rick Shores in terms of food- every dish is packed with flavour! Their dim sum and pork buns were fresh and very tasty. These were a good chose as starters. We also tried the duck egg noodle dish which was creamy, yummy and different. But unfortunately the miso chicken dish was not a hit. It was very strong in flavour but not a nice flavour. I’ll come back to try their other items. I love the detailing of the table setting, the lights, white bricks and high ceiling. Simple and effective.

Great presentation, efficient staff and a lovely modern atmosphere. Very glad they offer a split bill option as we had a group. Everyone liked their chosen meals. I had the potato and truffle spring rolls and the typhoon chicken with jasmine rice. The spring rolls were tasty but somewhat like mashed potato inside. The typhoon chicken meal was smaller than expected, and also not as flavoursome. We wouldn't say we came away full and totally satisfied. Might go back to try another time.

It was an amazing night at Little Valley; they hosted our company dinner and were incredibly hospitable and inviting. It was my first time there and the venue was easy to get to and find (thank you Google Maps) tucked away in a quaint little alley. The food, first and foremost, was just wonderful. I was unable to try the duck due to my recent commitment to pescetarianism :( but my friends were raving about it and I'm sure that was a favourite. My personal favourite was the cold soba noodles with cucumber. I can't begin to describe all the exquisite flavours but I ate so much and went home so satisfied :) The service was just lovely; the waitstaff were so attentive and helpful and I really appreciated how accommodating they were when it came to dietary requirements as my table had several different ones. They were friendly and enthusiastic which is such a nice change from the stoicism and disinterest I'm used to in (granted, more inexpensive) other restaurants. The venue was gorgeous with dim lighting and a comfortable interior. The entryway and bar area was beautiful. We really loved the crockery used as it was so unique and stylish yet not impractical! All in all amazing ambience. In general I had a great experience at Little Valley; it was so nice to sit around a table and have a Chinese-style meal with rice and various dishes in a beautiful modern setting! Thank you so much to the team for having us.

Incredible degustation with a wide range of food. Catered to our celiac friend with a large range of gluten free options. Absolutely delicious with great service.

Pleasant, spacious, modern restaurant. The wagyu dish from the cold menu was absolutely delicious - packed full of flavour, with just the right amount of kick. The scallop cold dish was also tasty, and the pork main was well cooked and the sauce scrumptious. We didn't try any dim sum & that seemed alot pricier than sunnybank places (albiet in a fancier location). I had the shot of the house blend lychee BAIJIU which was lovely and very easy to drink. The miso icecream was interesting.

Amzing food, good service. Best dumplings in Brisbane so far. Xiao-lang-bao with the spicy sauce blows your mind.

Amazing new addition to the Brisbane dining scene! Great, friendly and fast service, loved the space and the food - yum! Especially the prawn & truffle har gow, chilli crab xia long bao, spring rolls and twice cooked duck. Can't wait to come back with a crew! Well done guys

Yesterday night I went with my girlfriend to have some drinks. Unfortunately the experience was not good at all. The cocktails were not good and the border of my glass was BROKEN!!! I could have cut my mouth. Probably I will come back to try the food but definitely not the cocktails.

Visited little valley on a Friday night. We were instantly welcomed and directed to the bar for drinks until all guests arrived. We were then shown to our table once all.guests arrived. We ordered the $65 banquet. It was delicious! Enjoyed every item especially buns and dumplings. Would defiantly visit again.

I'd really love to give this place a 5 Star, but we've been twice and TWICE we've been totally ignored as we arrived. This last time we REALLY kicked up a stink and asked WTF? You walk in through the bar and the "host" (ahem) was busy having a beer with mates. ANYWAY .... once you actually get seated? The service improved dramatically and you're off and running...
Love the space - an old warehouse in the valley with 70's lighting, simple but comfortable furniture, tables not too close, all highly pleasant.
Menu runs from tiny to huge, I REALLY appreciated that they advised us that one main would serve two people (and it did). Being control freaks, we bypassed the Feed Me option and built our own menu - the crab dumplings were the stuff of dreams, the CRABBIEST crab dumplings I've had. Ditto the chicken and sausage dumplings, swimming in black vinegar with a ton of fresh ginger. SUBLIME ! The lobster har go was very good with identifiable pieces of lobster! Less impressed with hot and numbing duck entree - nice, but basically 5 spice duck pieces in a bowl of chilis.
I LOVED the Chinese bolognaise - could have had 12 of those. The main of Roasted Pork belly hot pot was everything you would hope for - crispy crackling, succulent meat (and a lot of it!) in a sticky addictive glaze. My partner LOVED the Chinese greens with smoked tahini. I thought the dish would benefit from a looser / more runny sauce. On one visit, we had the chocolate parfait with soy ice ream and candied peanuts. Faaaaabulous.
Overall, its a bit pricey, but absolute value for money. We've been on Wednesday and Thursday and the place has been half empty. It deserves to be full, the food is THAT good and the table service is excellent. Now, if we can only do something about the arrival .....

Wow what an experience can thoroughly recommend the $79 feed me banquet you will not be disappointed the lamb belly was Devine

This place is fantastic. The large plates are actually large which compensated for them being a tad pricey. Great flavour combinations with attentive and friendly service. I’ll certainly make a return visit.

Readers will know that whilst I am a bit hesitant in trying out modern fusion adaptations of Asian food, I have always tried to keep an open mind. This has paid off in quite a few instances and I've really enjoyed some of those meals. So although I had heard of the opening of Little Valley by the infamous Rick Shores (which Iron Fist cannot stop complementing), it hadn't really made my list with its modern Chinese cuisine. Having said this, I did not hesitate to agree when our friend suggested we go there for a birthday party celebration.

We had really a nice dinner there . Good atmosphere, good food.
We ordered the slow cooked beef and the duck as mains they both were generous portions and beautifully cooked , for dessert we had the chocolate cocopops with the mushroom ice cream and the yuzu cheese cake.
The chocolate desert was ok but not the standards the other dishes sat. The yuzu cheese cake was amazing, mind blowing! I think this dessert is a must! Well done chef .

3.5 ⭐️ Not your typical Asian restaurant. Brisbane seem to have quite a few restaurants/bars combos. I was interested to taste Brisbane's version of Asian fusion. We tried a variety of shared dishes and none of the main. It was good but I am not sure how I feel about the dishes. They were a little too close to the authentic version and just enough to make me doubt the taste. Highlights: the twice fried duck. Yes! Lowlights: the tofu. The consistency was just too like panna cotta and not enough tofu, although the sauce was delish.

First time visiting this place. Recommended by my friend, she said we should try out this place, the dim sum is really good and the oyster is delicious too. Good service and ambience overall. Particularly like the duck flatbread it was so yummy with the roasted fresh chilli!

Food, service and wine list superb. Thank you! I need to write more to publish the review, but short and sweet...you’ll love this place. Bring a cardigan as the air con a bit full on.

A friend suggested Little Valley in Fortitude Valley for a dining destination, and though we had been out of the loop enough to not have heard much about it, we made our way there on a weekday lunchtime when a group of us happened to be free. The outside of Little Valley. There is a sign. Located on Warner Street, it is just across from the McWhirter’s building. The exterior of the black brick building doesn’t give much away, unless you know what you are looking for, and in Melbournian style, the entrance is through an alleyway.

Couldn’t fault our meal at Little Valley. The food was a really fun and interesting variety of flavours, the ambience was good and the service was great. Would definitely recommend!

It's exciting to see more restaurants like Little Valley pop up in Brisbane. Creating their own mark on the cuisine, in a great space, with attentive service. We visited close to when it opened. The dim sum dishes and sides were delicious. It was when we had the pork cheek that we faced difficulty - sliced and presented in large pieces, it was impossible to eat and enjoy this dish without a knife. We tried to eat it with chopsticks but the large pork slices didn't break away easily and it felt a bit like a fight to get a bite sized piece. This took away from the experience a little, but I was overall happy and will try again soon.

Love the buzz of the room. Food is uniformly delightful - I had the set menu and it was all good, though dessert wasn’t a strong suit. Service was brilliant and a great crowd packs the place on a Saturday

I’ve eaten at Little Valley three times now and have been impressed by the food, ambience and service on each occasion. The dumplings are a highlight and so is the twice cooked duck. The cocktailS are also well made. Highly recommend!

First up were the Cured scallops with spiced pumpkin seed and chilli oil ($6.00 ea). These were so fresh and so delicious. I am of Nepalese heritage, and something about this dish reminded me of a flavour that Mum used to cook with so I absolutely loved it. It is a dish that definitely packs a punch.

Next we ordered a few things from the Dim Sim section of the menu. First up were the Truffle and Prawn Har Gow ($13.00). These were really light and easy to eat. You could really taste the prawn which is something that I absolutely loved. I’d definitely get these bad boys again...

Next, we ordered the Chilli crab and pork xiao long bao ($13.00). Look, these were nice but I absolutely love xiao long bao’s and to be honest, I definitely think I have had better. I just felt as though I couldn’t taste the crab as the chilli taste overpowered the entire thing. Don’t get me wrong, I love chilli, but it was just a bit much in this dish...

For the full review please see my blog!!

Thanks so much!

I always get excited for new restaurant openings as the opportunity to try something new is what we all crave. What Little Valley successfully delivers is not only a tight food and beverage offering but in a location with a fit out that is truly unique when compared to other Brisbane venues. The split level space, open kitchen and general design is A+ in my book.
For us, the service was spot on as well. We were a walk in on a Saturday night and despite being super busy we were still offered a table with a polite caveat of needing the table back by 8. This was fine by us and the knowing this, the waiter was prompt and literally said that he understands the time limit and whilst he didn’t want to make us feel rushed, he wanted us to still have time for the experience.
Sounds like a pretty small thing but this simple awareness and approachability is sometimes hard to find.
This restaurant has a beautiful fit-out with lovely high ceilings and is a large space. The food was delicious and the menu was well varied and reasonably priced. However, we experienced very poor service. We were essentially ignored despite there being plenty of staff on the floor. We had a different waiter at each step and had to continuously call for attention for drinks or menus. This place has high potential but unfortunately, the service was lacklustre for us and the most memorable part of the experience.

Amazing food and lovely atmosphere. Surprisingly reasonable for high end food. Wait staff were lovely and attentive. Would absolutely eat here again- make sure you book though! It was packed.

There was a mistake with our order and we had to wait about 35 minutes between courses, but the waiter was apologetic and extremely generous. He gave us free drinks and even offered to replace mine when I found it too strong. Nice ethos and overall a good experience.

I’ve never been waited on better, and felt more respected and honoured at a resteraunt in my life. The fact that this place got their service so right, is enough for 5 stars, in my opinion. The food was a five in in itself! This place is a must. The master chef boys were here on the night I visited, and I could hear very positive mutterings, from them too!
