Delicious! Just walked past this place and was drawn by it’s funky decor and warm vibes! I am so glad we chose to have dinner here.
Great little share menu with lots of tasty treats. The fried rice was awesome! I love the fried egg on top, totally authentic! The pork belly and green paw paw salad was on point. It had a little kick but the pork was meaty and juicy. 💕
I must say I was not disappointed at all. This place was awesome and I will be back for sure.
The only thing I would ask, please do desserts! 🙏🏻
Loved it! Be back soon! 👍🏻
We had previously noticed Junk at Cooparoo & decided to try out the one at Southbank as it was closer. I particularly enjoyed the tofu dish which was really super tasty. along with the accompanying soy beans. Partner not totally impressed with his dish which was pork, commented it was rather dry. The naan bread was really good nice & fluffy with crisp crust. All up not bad for a fast food type cafe & well priced
uber delivery. Superfast and very delicious. Blackbean soba noodle is spot on! It comes with fortune cookies which shows me they care about customers experience. The food are packed nicely. Surely will have it again.
Tonight I was meeting a friend of mine and before going to the movies we decided to eat something so I suggested trying this place as he is a fan of Asian food.
We ordered the pork dumplings, the crispy pork belly and the black bean marinated beef.
The pork belly was indeed crispy but some pieces were a bit dry and also I felt like the sauce was too sweet, fortunately I had other dishes to use as an escape otherwise if I had only this one I don't think I would be able to finish it as I would certainly get tired of its flavour. I would rate it a 3 out of 5.
The black bean marinated beef was probably my favorite, a perfectly cooked beef with a lot of flavours to it served together with cold soba noodles that not only matched and improved the flavour from the meat but was also a strong side by itself. I would rate it a 4 or 4.5 out of 5.
The pork dumplings again didn't impress me much, there was some flavour do it but they tasted frozen and there was not much texture to it besides the flakes of garlic on top but they are quite cheap if compared to other shops (about a dollar a piece). I would rate it a 3 out of 5.
Overall I enjoyed my dinner and the place gives you a good vibe and had amazing friendly staff but the food could be better.
I've been here a few times now and although I personally still love it, my friends and I agree that the food here seems to be a hit or miss. Some dishes are absolutely spectacular (like the Chicken baos... add some chilli sauce if you like spice! and oh my god the kimchi fries) while others need improvement (specifically the ramen). Something I'm a bit sad about is how the alcoholic bubble tea is overpriced, but the taste is fantastic whether you're having it with your meal or just chilling out on a warm afternoon, so I'll almost always opt for one when my bank account allows for it anyways. :)
Killer asian street eats! Pretty sure UberEATS has a direct path from Junk to my front door by now. Never disappoints.
Our order always starts with the go-to crispy pork belly then varies from there. Beef massaman is top notch & the pork bao was the latest discovery...om nom nom.
One day we'll dine in to make the most of the specials and soak up the vibe, as we have many times in Maroochydore. Til then we'll continue to overorder a bit of everything online & graze on the goodness.
I urge you to get on the junk!
Via UberEATS I was trying to decide between Katsu Curry or Bao.
Decided to order Junk as had heard many great things about the bao. 3 puffy fluffy chicken filled bao arrived hot and tasty. Put kewpie on one and melted. Into the sofa. My god! *insert steamy adult movie soundtrack* bao chicka wao!
The chicken satay bowl rocks your socks off. And it will do so tomorrow as I finish the bao and the chicken bowl off...
Highly recommend!!!
A very casual Asian fusion eatery along Southbank’s newly revamped dining precinct with plenty of cheap and grub options to fill you up. The staff are pretty laid back but friendly and service is quick. There’s a pretty large bar but not really a wide variety of drink selections. Menu is quite simple, except I wouldn’t really call some of the options “meals” – more share plate-type options e.g. kimchi fries. Sometimes the combo/name gave me a different expectation to what actually appeared – except I really enjoyed all the flavours in the end. Decor is super cool with Asian steamers from the ceiling!
Excellent food. A real street food vibe. Good prices. Drinks are average prices (though the bubble alcohol drink is pretty gross). Loved it and have been a heap of times and it never disappoints!! Try the duck spring rolls or the steamed buns - DELISH!!!
I have been here 3 times now. Agree with everybody else who has reviewed the pork - tender, delicious, but 4 pieces would be better! We have tried quite a few of the dishes and found them all to be good. It would be good to see a couple more vegetarian options in the mains though and a pinot grigio on the wine menu.
