I had dinner there a few weeks ago with two friends and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. We ordered a few appetisers to share and we didn’t manage to finish.
The cheese with honey was so good - a very different flavour. Loved the beef tartare as well, the beef was fresh as it was meant to be. And don’t get me started on the mushrooms and the cauliflower.

Everything was just great!

Great little place. Friendly and willing to help us. Small but adequate menu and awesome cocktails with a flexible range of atmospheres. I had the APO burger which was perfect.

I really love Apo and first came here after I saw the steak deal on zomato but didn’t end up going for the steak haha I love that they have great wine choices and the aperol ice poles. The bread and butter is amazing and I could just order that all night - sounds weird but you need to try it!!

Having recently gone to Gerards to enjoy quite a delightful (and last) breakfast, I had made a note to go and try out The APO which is run by the same owners as Gerards and conveniently also situated at fortitude valley. . Making a lunch reservation for the 12, we were the first ones there. Faced with the option for indoors and outdoors at the back, I naturally took the inside option. Despite the abundance of natural light from outside, it was still a little dim for my liking.

We came here for lunch on the weekend.  I was very impressed by the very reasonably priced lunch options.  We had the meatball baguettes and they didn't look like much, but tasted delicious.  Really great décor too.  Very stylish without feeling uncomfortable.  Will definitely return.

After reading all about this Valley eatery/bar since it opened we have been keen to try it out. We finally made it there after a little shopping in the city.

The food was excellent, really enjoyed that but unfortunately the service didn’t quite match the great food, while friendly enough it just wasn’t attentive enough for what they are trying to achieve. The service (or lack of) wouldn’t deter us from revisiting, but with so many great places to try I doubt we’ll be back any time soon.

A five for the food, but three for service.

Set in a heritage listed building, the APO is brought to you by renowned Moubment group (Gerard's et al). The atmosphere and service was fantastic! The food and drinks were as expected...simple and complex at the same time. The menu was a modern and refined take on Lebanese food and we tried everything on it. The bread came with a delicious onion caramel butter. The Lebanese goat taco was a group favourite and the smoked tartare was the perfect way to awaken the taste buds. Another crowd pleaser was the fried chicken. I could eat a bowl of these every day! The chicken was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender with a light crunchy crumb on the outside. I love that it was served deboned and came with a tangy, chilli and yogurt sauce which complemented the whole dish. The steak was handled beautifully too. We had a bottle of the Grenache and Pinot Noir, both wines paired very well with the dishes. The pineapple pisco sour and espresso martinis were delicious. The summer negroni was a clever twist on a classic. Will be coming back very soon!

If you come and dine at the Apo you have to order the fried chicken and goat tacos - they've got me wanting to go back already! Definitely go with a group of friends and try all the dishes because they're all beautifully presented and delicious.

Wow what a place. The menu is quirky but interesting. Our waitress Marnee explained every thing and was very obliging. The entrees came to the table at the same time and were well presented and delicious. We ordered the four main courses along with a couple of salads and the arrived at the same time so nobody was waiting. The Lamb ribs were cooked to perfection, the Chicken was crispy, the King fish was great and the steak was also great.
Who would think of a Brussel Sprout salad, delicious. Also a nice touch was that Marnee must of overheard our toast to my wife for her birthday as she brought he a drink to celebrate.  I hope this place is around for a long time

Great place to meet friends and share some plates. The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. The service is quite good. The fit out/ and service could feel more intimate (less of a bar feel/ more resturant) however that's just a matter of personal taste.

I was excited about this restaurant as it is linked to my fav. restaurant in Brisbane - Gerard's Bistro. It didn't disappoint. The dishes are made to share and are full of interesting flavors and ingredients. We ordered the bread with onion Carmel, the artichoke with onion cream and walnuts and the spiced goat taco to start. All delicious and served hot. Then we ordered the fried chicken and the Brussels spouts with goats cheese salad. These went well together. As a main we then ordered the Black onyx steak with pomme frites. The steak was cooked medium rare and with delicious.

The service was impeccable. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the food and the wine list. All food was served quickly, perhaps a little too quickly - it would have been nice to have a slightly larger break between dishes to let it settle. That being said we probably could have asked them for a break in the middle of the dishes and I'm sure they would have complied (I will next time).

There was a minor issue with one of the dishes and they dealt with it in a very professional manner by giving us a complimentary dessert - Watermelon and whipped cheese (Yum!). It wasn't necessary but it did show how much they value their customers and hold themselves to a high standard.

An added bonus to dining here is that you get free parking at Mcwhirters. (For now anyway I don't know if this is just a promotion or something that will stay). I will definitely return to The Apo. (I apologize for the limited photos but everything was so delicious I started eating and forgot to photograph).

The definition of Modern Australian done right! Make sure not to leave here without trying their impressive cocktails - the ristretto martini and rhubarb negroni are divine.

Took the DIMMI 50% off food bill promo to explore this restaurant. Actually, the new development of food and shopping precinct around the area is a big surprise to me. Located at the entrance Bakery Lane, Apo show-cases its characteristic of having a restaurant set up in a historical building. Manager (maybe the owner) is very friendly and hospitable to introduce some new dishes off the menu to us. Finally we decided to take the oysters in two ways: steamed and fresh. Wow! both were surprisingly fantastic with really richness in oyster flavour. Another entrée of Puffed Tendons reminded me the way that I had the Pork Crackle at the Public but this dish left behind traces of tendon feeling in the mouth which was amazing. Slow cooked Oxtails were well matched with the pepper chilli and yogurt. The recommended confit chicken with rice was a good invention other than risotto. Give you a tips, it is good to match the Oxtail with Asahi Soukai (made in Australia), which is even better than the Asahi Black from Japan. Overall, highly recommended.

We started with an Apo old fashioned ($18) made with bourbon, rye, palm sugar, cocoa nib and bitters and a refreshing mocktail. While waiting for the food, we nibbled on some puffed tendons, Aleppo and sumac spice ($8) - it was like eating a grown up version of prawn crackers. The tartare and tacos followed. I absolutely loved the silkiness of the tartare and the crispness of the potato, every bite was like a saucy tango in my mouth. What took me by surprise was the presentation of the fried quail, Bekaa wing style roasted harissa, garlic yoghurt, rose and mint ($18); it was pretty and slightly frightening all at once. As expected, the lamb belly was just soft and so moreish, and so was the Moreton Bay bug. In comparison to the arrays of beautifully presented food that we received, the desserts, crème caramel, mandarin, cardamom ($12) and honey and orange blossom Mille Feuille ($12) looked flat and simple, but don’t let their looks fool you as they tasted great.

whoot whoot! came in here on friday for dinner and it actually blew my mind. the food was fantastic, but i honestly have to say that it was the service that made everything just perfect. i called up over lunch to book a table and whoever answered the phone just then had really great manners and the best thing is that we received the same outstanding service during our dining experience. it's hard to find great service in  our days, but the staff just absolutely nailed it and it felt like it came from their hearts. thank you very much for that!
and i am not just writing this review, because we got some espresso martinis on the house for being a cute gay couple.

I'm not usually a modern Australian food fan, I find it all a bit pretentious and overpriced and would usually prefer a $10 bowl of noodles but this place is an exception. The flavour combinations here were great and the cocktails were something original and enjoyable. My only complaint is that due to a large table inside, we were forced to sit outside which was okay, but it felt we were forgotten about, we only managed to get three rounds of drinks over the few hours we were there.

The Apo is a breath of fresh air for the local dining scene. The menu is tapas style to be shared set out from light to heavy. The food ranges from bar food to fine dining restaurant inspired dishes that didn't miss a beat. The service was good but the wine list needs to be improved with a very limited range of options. The negroni was average and I expected something a more sophisticated.  Maybe try a different brand of vermouth? or boutique gin?  Otherwise I'd be back for the food and hopefully they improve the wine list.

Great people watching spot if you can nab a spot at the window. We shared the chicken liver eclaires, duck, steak flap, potatoes & broccolini with a bottle of Spanish Tempranillo for $75. Dessert for $15 was a standout. Will certainly visit again to try more of the menu & people watch !

The Apo has a really unusual menu, and I was hesitant at first, but it was absolutely delicious. My friend and I started with Parmesan and pea croquettes (I wanted more), then she had the duck, and I had the lamb with a side of zucchini. The lamb slid off the bone, and everything tasted amazing. The service is great, and everyone is really friendly. Definitely recommended!

The food is so good I'm becoming a regular. The atmosphere is relaxed and not pretentious. The menu has a variety of dishes perfect for sharing. The croquettes are little flavour explosions and the lamb melts in your mouth.
All dishes are as visually appealing as they are delicious.

The Apo is also great for a late night supper, the cheese 'toastie' is ridiculously satisfying and goes down well with a nightcap.
The drinks served in little bottles are fun and are great to sip on.

Best place to sit is at the bar so you can see all of the creations coming from the kitchen

All wait staff have been lovely to have a chat with and their drink recommendations are always perfect.

The Apo offers a new level of bar dining. The dishes are small and designed to be shared, with drinks being the focus of the day but it goes to show there is no reason to resign to chicken wings and chips just because you want to drink and chat. The menu is expansive and thoughtful so you get a fun bar experience plus fine-dining quality of dishes scaled down. I'm loving this gastro-bar trend in Brisbane because it offers two of my favourite things (good food and good drink) without sacrifice.

A new venue in a old building with funky decor. Staff was very professional, explained everything really well. We had four dishes to share.
Crab meat - great starter, high quality crab meat, nice chunks, loved the sturgeon, they actually plain them on the roof top.
Calamari - cultured cream was the star of the dish, great flavour and richness, but for me was a little too rich together with calamari fat.
Pork neck - I found this dish is kind of boring, flavour is good but nothing special about it.
Cabbage - blanched and pan fried, good side dish, little pricey.
Wine list has some great selections, Chardonnay by the glass was beautiful, old school oaky, smokey, loved it.
French rose super easy to drink almost didn't have any body in it, can be good or bad, I liked it as first wine to go with seafood.
I would go back and try them again.

A nice little spot with a interesting menu. The beef tartare was spectacular and the raw fish dish had the right mix of flavors. I think they could have designed it with more bar or shared table seating

Although there's not a pill in sight, the exposed hand-made brick walls of Fortitude Valley restaurant and bar The Apo speak of medical history. It doses out the sort of medicine I like to take frequently - good food, excellent wine and interesting decor. This heritage-listed building dates from 1862 and was known as an Apothecary Hall. Sort of like an old fashioned chemist, an Apothecary is a person who prepared and sold medicines and drugs. It's always a challenge to bring a building like this into the future but Apo does it well and that's even before you've eaten a mouthful.

Loved the food and wine list, everything we had was delicious and will certainly recommend to our friends as a place to try. Our waitress was lovely and very informative and knowledgable of the menu. The only low point was the Supervisor on duty who was very unwelcoming and unpleasant.

Exceptional food, the suckling pig and charcoal octopus were stand-outs and all the desserts we had were memorable. Impressive drinks list too - the wild mushroom infused Bloody Mary is not to be missed. In terms of decor and atmosphere the restaurant itself is a lovely place to spend time for a meal. However, we were disappointed with the service, it lacked the warmth we're accustomed to at places like Gerard's and did not make us feel inclined to return in a hurry. Overall, improve the service and this place is a winner.
