Review Oishii Sushi - Brisbane

Nakeeb Ah
Food never disappoints here. Service is great too and always attentive and friendly. One little suggestion, don’t charge $2 for a tiny bit of mayonnaise. This isn’t a cheap or low end restaurant, price is above average, so it drives the experience that bit lower when you charge for small stuff like sauce or mayo.

My wife and I go there regularly and love the food and service. We are foodies and highly recommend Oishii for their sushi. Top notch everytime.

Probably some of the best sushi I’ve had in a while! Only found out about @oishiisushibar last week but I’m glad I did! What we got: • Black Dragon ($16) • Spider Roll ($15) • Snake Roll ($15) • Salmon Sashimi ($19) • Soba in Bonito Konbu Soup ($12) • Tori Karaage - As an add-on for the soup ($3) We loved all 3 different sushi, but my favourite was probably the spider roll! The sushi was presented really nicely and quality was up there. Same goes for the sashimi - it was very fresh! The soba was a bit too soft but the chicken which we got on the side was really good! If you haven’t this place yet, you definitely should! Can’t wait to go again! 🙌

UNBELIEVABLE value. Makerell half of filet sized of a finger with bones $22. Other sushi twice the price of the one everywhere else. Nothing special of taste either. Rice served without everything else. By the time other food was brought it cooled down. Will never go there again and don't recommend it to anyone

Everytime I come to Oishii Sushi Bar, I am blown away by quality of the sushi rolls. Affordable and tasty! This place is a Brisbane gem.
Joe Khoo
We have been dining here for over a decade. The Sushi Rolls are well made and delicious.
Johnny
One of the best sushi places in Brisbane! Very tasty and friendly staff! If you’ve never been you won’t be disappointed! definitely worth checking out ! Especially if you enjoy your sushi!

Great food and amazing service. I have always loved Oishii. When I used to live in Brisbane, it was my go to. I have now moved to Sydney, but whenever I am up to visit family, I always make sure I never leave without ordering from them. Always fresh and delicious!!
Jieun Ha
One of the Best sushi in brisbane , highly recommend !!
Rob Logan
Always very delicious sushi and rice bowls. Probably my favourite goyza in Brisbane.
Nia
Flavours were nice, food fresh and plating was at a high standard. Definitely book a table in advance as they are quite busy. Staff are friendly but food takes to long to come out. Food came out in random orders sushi and then entrees.. and spread out in 5-10 minute intervals. Definitely nice to go on a date or what not once in a blue moon, but to expensive for a regular basis of dinner there.
Blobfishman
Eat sushi with someone else makes the food taste better. Sushi is fresh and yummy.

Absolutely amazing! Best value and taste. Never dissatisfied. Haven’t raised the prices of the menu items for years, nor have they reduced their quality! Been going for years and will definitely travel kms to get sushi here and only here!!!
Davina
I have been coming here many times over the years and it’s always been a wonderful experience. Food is always delicious and fresh, the service is also very nice and friendly. Would recommend this to anyone looking for some great sushi.
Adeline
Food was delicious. Staff were friendly and service was fast. They had a variety of different sushi range on the menu. Tried the green dragon rolls and the spicy beef rolls. Ingredients were fresh. Would definitely come back!
Annie Bray
Amazing sushi with fresh seafood. I recommend any of the 'dragon' rolls, or the snake and dynamite roll. Delicious chicken karaage as well. Very fast service. Travel 20+ minutes to go to this restaurant and worth it every time.

Soft 4<br/><br/>They can really be hit or miss.<br/>On the multiple visits I've made, theyve had some sushi rolls that are perfectly seasoned and fresh. Then some times they can be mushy and lackluster.<br/><br/>Give it crack maybe you'll hit it off on a good day
Eater_ldf
Delicious and simple meals. All of which where cooked beautifully. We ordered the salmon aburi don and the snake roll. The salmon Albury don was very simple but so balanced. The snake roll was a pleasant surprise and I would have to say, is the best sushi I have had in Queensland.

Visited this restaurant again after quite a long time expecting the food to be just as good as I remembered but I’m disappointed to say that it was a very underwhelming meal. The quality of the dishes had changed so much... will not be coming back here any time soon. At least service was relatively good.
Trulassie
Great sushi and sashimi!! A nice change from the usual sushi joints. Garlic fried rice was surprisingly damp but taste was alright. Loved the fresh looking vegetables on top of it. Tofu was ok.
Amanda Tang
Tasty sushi that looks amazing everytime, and reasonably priced. Get on that salmon sashimi train here cause it's good af. And their garlic butter scallops gonna blow your damn socks off.

Have not been back here for over three years so checked it out last night. As mentioned by Joe K, there are only two restaurant left behind after the closed down of the other restaurants in the same food precinct. However it does not affect the business of the Japanese outlet. We arrived at 6:30pm and we have not been booked because we just decided to come after the massage from Bali next door. Nothing wrong with the guy who controls all the reservation and be kind to offer us a table inside but it would be much more comfortable to us if he can generously offer diners with smiling face :(<br/>Ordered my favourite dishes of white dragon, salmon lovers sashimi and egg omelette noodles. All dishes came to the table very quick. White dragon came with five pieces of hand rolls with freshly scallop on the top. With respect to my last experience, sushi rice is still down as usual; however the overall taste is balanced (3.5/5). Egg omelette looks great but my Chines taste buds prefers to have more "wok qi" with expectation of steam out of the omelette after I use the chopstick to piece through the egg (3.5/5). Hero of the night should be the salmon lover, which looks spectacular with 12 pieces of thick cut and a nice-looking rose with thin cut salmon. The accompanied fish roe highlights the dish with the salty taste (4.5/5). <br/>Overall impression is decent and review has been gone up to 4/5.<br/><br/>Jun 27, 2015 Rating 3.5/5<br/>It is this sushi bar which makes me falling in love with scallop sashimi and it is also this sushi bar making the soft shell crab to be one of my favorite foods. Oishii, one of the outstanding place for sushi. I would not say that their foods are authentic as comparing to the preparation by some sophisticated Japanese sushi chefs. I can see the percentage of vinegar mixed with rice is not quite superb. Having said that, Oishii provides a good invention on preparation and presentation of different type of sushi. I like the ideas of "Red dragon", "Spider roll" and Omelette Fried Noodles". They are all my favorites. Oishii is a-must for all sushi-lover.
Jamie Denise
Love coming here for quality sushi. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. I love the soft shell crab and the red dragon. I celebrated my friends birthday here and they were very happy to accommodate my secret birthday cake for him! So thank you for your hospitality!

I have been dining at Oishii since 2010. Phuong Tran and I come here for dinner tonight and Oishii is the only restaurant open. Three other restaurants have closed down so the carpark is half vacant. <br/><br/>Our green tea is served immediately and our dinner arrives after 20 minutes. <br/><br/>*Agedashi Tofu ($6) looks nice and is served hot. The Dashi broth is bland which makes this dish quite disappointing. Rating: 3.5<br/><br/>*Takoyaki ($7.50) is nicely presented and freshly fried but they taste quite plain, like the frozen Takoyaki from the supermarket. Rating: 3.5<br/><br/>*Salmon Sashimi ($17) is thick cut and looks appetising. The Sashimi tastes fresh but is not properly chilled. Instead of being firm it is limp and soft. Rating: 3.5<br/><br/>*Three Hand Rolls ($12) are Unagi, Tempura Prawn, Avocado & Prawn. They are freshly prepared but are small and the fillings are stingy. Rating: 3.5<br/><br/>*Red Dragon Roll ($12) is fresh and tasty. The best dish tonight. Rating: 4.5<br/><br/>Our previous meals here have been rated 4.5 but tonight’s meal is disappointing. The quality of our dishes are very average, hence, the overall rating for this meal drops 1 point to 3.5!

Easy 5/5 I normally rate just for food but the service was exceptional!!! Now lets get to the food I order half of the menu so too long to list but everything was amazing. The dragon rolls were supper fresh never had them that fresh. Karage chicken was amazing too!!!
PineapplePizza
Really yummy sushi! Nice and fresh, plus the staff were really attentive. Definitely recommend giving their omelette yakisoba a try! Just wish there was more lighting for those who sat outside, it was very dark and I couldn’t get a good look at the beautiful rolls in front of me :(
Linna (Gluten Free)
overall: 4.1/5<br/>gluten free options: 3/5<br/>food taste: 5/5<br/>ambience: 3.5/5 <br/>customer service: 5/5<br/>pricing vs quality: 4/5<br/><br/>rly loved oishii. it lives up to its name (oishii = yummy in japanese). they have a gluten free menu, but it’s quite limited if you’re going with a huge group of people but probably sufficient if you’re just by yourself. a lot of the dishes can be made gluten free by taking off the mayo and other components, but still retains its signature taste. sashimi ofc is always gluten free and also always a must have at any sushi place. <br/><br/>sashimi was great. very fresh. well sliced. loved the salmon roe in the cucumber basket - so cute. could not have enough of the sashimi tbh. good portions for its price. <br/><br/>the various dragons — white, red, black??? i liked them. i think some of them couldn’t be made gluten free but what i tasted was very fresh. actually it kinda has the quality of sushi edo, but it’s not on small plates. kinda hoping they might open up a sushi train. salmon and avocado is always a good combo. there really wasn’t any dishes that i disliked. if i had to pick at something it would be there (katsudon) donburis being a bit small. but if you’re at a sushi place like this, get the sushi! not the rice stuff LOL<br/><br/>customer service was lovely. we had a birthday here and they sang HBD too~ would recommend! the inside can get a bit noisy but there’s an outside venue too~
William T
Been to this place several times and this is the first time I ordered a rice dish. My wife had unagi with rice while I had chicken karage with rice. Had to say they are disappointing. The food were either bland or too sour (due to excessive sauce). I reckoned their best dishes are sushi. I'll give it 3 stars for excellent sushi but no stars for their other dishes and their ambience.

Can anyone remember the heat wave we had in Brisbane on the 13th of January 2018? It was hot that day reaching probably up to 38C, and yet I was craving for some sushi. After much persuasion, I dragged Mr to Oishii Sushi Bar! Not sure whether it was our lucky or unlucky day as their AC broke down and they ran out of cold water, so they gave us free drinks instead! Talking about good service!
Persisca Jaffar
Good selection of sushi rolls. Different from any other sushi place.<br/><br/>Love the white and black dragon.<br/><br/>All ingredients are fresh and have enjoyed ot a lot.
Julie Hua
Really friendly staff, the butter scallops was amazing wasn’t to buttery just enough and the rest dishes was amazing. The food didn’t take to long and the pricing is good also.

We booked this place for a nice birthday dinner, always need to book before hand. Staff are friendly and we felt welcomed. Parking is busy if you go peak times as there are a few other restaurants in the same complex.<br/><br/>Quickly seated with a baby chair as usual, there is plenty to choose from on the menu, but seeing we have been here before, ordering is usually very quick.<br/><br/>We ordered seaweed salad, potato salad, red dragon, teriyaki udon for the little one and a few others sushi dishes. The chefs you can see clearly make the dishes so you know it is fresh.<br/><br/>Soon after ordering food, it comes out pretty quickly. We are never disappointed with the quality. Soon after we finish each dish the staff clear the empty plates off the table.<br/><br/>Very satisfied with our meal and choices tonight.<br/>
Jessica Potter
everything was so fresh and prepared beautifully. It really deserves all 5 stars for presentation, quality, freshness, fast service and of course taste.<br/><br/>We tried karage chicken entree, takoyaki (octopus) entree, garlic scallops entree, spider (crab)roll, red dragon (lobster) roll and snake (salmon) roll. The green tea was perfect strength and temperature (which is surprisingly difficult to come by). The whole lot was $74, all dishes were worth their price tag and we could barely finish it all.<br/> <br/>We enjoyed all aspects our meal very much and this will be our fancy sushi restaurant from now on.
Eatsleeeeptravel
Food is consistently good throughout the years. The sushi always fresh & delicious. Friendly service from both dine in and takeout experience.
Benji
Highly recommended! Sushi was fresh as daisys! The salmon used for the Red Dragon roll was to die for, it was so fresh and melted like butter in your mouth that we had to order two serves. Will be back soon!
Kyle Jones
Best sushi this side of japan. <br/><br/>Great service even better food! <br/>My friend and I come back when ever we get a craving for the best sushi in town.
Jenny
I don’t know what happened. Oishii is an institution. It’s one of the first sushi places I’ve ever been to and relatively cheap enough for poor uni students to congregate once upon a time. I would definitely say I’ve been at least 5 times over the years, though my memory is pretty hazy at the best of times. Is it because we always used to order sushi only? Or has Oishii really just dropped the bar?
Matt
Made to order sushi 🍣 <br/><br/>Blows my mind at how fresh the food is when it comes out. Well priced and I have been a few times and are yet to be disappointed about one single thing.<br/><br/>The staff are always really nice and efficient. The food comes out really quickly too which is always a positive ✌🏻<br/><br/>Can not fault one single thing. 10/10.<br/><br/>

I only ever get one thing here because it's just so damn good. Think you've had a good spider roll before? Think again. I've had so many all over Brisbane and this is by far the best place. Garlic prawns are good too. Everything else is pretty standard in terms of their hot food. Always busy, so always book!
Xinyu
Best sushi in Brisbane, been there many time, only once the rice was a bit hard. But overall, very high quality sushi, impressive. Every time when I crave sushi, I know oiishi sushi will most likely not fail me.

To wind down from a crazy weekend of celebrating my daughters 21st birthday, I treated her and my sons girlfriend to Sushi.<br/>We got there bang on 5.30pm and it was already busy!<br/>We ordered a pot of tea and Takoyaki (squid balls) to start with.<br/>We quickly followed with Tempura Vegetables, Himawari, Snake Roll, Chicken Karaage and rice.<br/>Everything was served promptly and was certainly fresh. I just wished I had ordered some sashimi.<br/>Oh well, next time! I was surprised by the prices, we ate ourselves silly for under $50.<br/>Definitely worth it!

One of the best sushi places around on the southside. A tad on the expensive side; you are paying for quality ingredients and high-end culinary skills. Sushi is always served quickly and presented well on the plate. Friendly, attentive staff and great ambience - though I'd recommend seating outside as indoors can get noisy quickly.

AMAZING PRESENTATION SKILLS. This restaurant is probably one of my top favourite sushi places in Brisbane. The service is always lovely and as for the food: faultless. I love the Himawari (have no idea what the little sprinkles/seasoning are exactly but I'm addicted) and Spider rolls (they really do make the best soft shell crab) but you really cannot go wrong with any order from here!
Foodlover
We are regulars and always enjoy the freshness of the sushi rolls. We had our favourite Red Bull roll and spider roll and Karage. Karage is a great serving size and is not too oily. The sushi rolls are always so fresh and tasty and highly recommend a visit if you love good sushi.

sorry i didn't book on a Sunday with family!!!! was mad about myself because i plan to come and eat....but i for got to make a reservation?!!?!! and even we saw tables around...the waitress said is all booked out....ok i may or may not understand why you can't work something out....so yes the food is good as all the time, is just this time my fault. oh order the soft shell crab hand roll!!! (Jul, 2017)

Definitely one of the bests if not the best sushi restaurants in Brisbane. Have been to this place 4 times in the last month. Even though the restaurant is packed with guests, service is very friendly and top notch. Best if you make a reservation first, even if you call 30 minutes before showing up. Food comes out quickly, and is very delicious. Price is not bad as well. Outdoor tables very warm in winter thanks to the gas heaters.
@lydiaeatsbrisbane
Been here a couple times and have ordered the rolls such as spider and dragon roll etc. The rolls are all rolled, plated and decorated very nicely. They taste quite delicious and are decently priced for authentic Japanese food. I have also ordered the bowls before (around $11-$13) but are quite small in size but are tasty. Would definitely recommend ordering the sushi rolls instead as they are more value for money!
Brandon Do
Good customer service however it get busy at night. Food takes about 10-15mins to come out but the wait is worth it. Recommend all the dragon sushi dishes and to book a table in advanced.
Elle
I've been to many restaurants to have sushi but I must say that I've never had a tempura sushi roll that tasted as light and crunchy without that oily aftertaste. The stirfry udon was also very good, albeit a bit small in terms of its portion size considering its price. But apart from that, it was a good experience and I would definitely come again to try something else.
Foodtester99
Absolutely love the sushi here. I would have to say the best in Brisbane. Oishii uses chefs properly trained to prepare sushi and it shows. <br/><br/>Service 5/5 <br/>All the waiters and waitresses have been very nice and always try to greet you as you come and go. I did have a bad experience a long time ago however I was offered an apology and have never had the same bad experience. It must have been a one off. <br/><br/>Food 5/5<br/>This restaurant has always had the best sushi in Brisbane. I have never had any thing off of the sushi menu though so I can not say anything about anything else on the menu. If you go there, try the spider roll and white dragon (these are my absolute favourites). <br/><br/>Decor 3/5<br/>I really wish they decorated the place in a more traditional Japanese interior as I think It would really enhance the vibes of the restaurant but I am being picky at this point. The furniture isn't super comfortable so I don't spend too long there. <br/><br/>Price 3/5 <br/>Not super expensive however maybe 3-4 dollars more expensive than your average sushi restaurant.
Danelle Lim Yun
The sushi here was really great!!! We ordered the snake roll, red dragon, white dragon, una tama roll, takoyaki, age dasu, and omu yakisoba. The sushi rolls were wrapped really well. My only gripe is that the portions were not enough, or maybe I just loved it so much I wanted more. I'd definitely come back again when the sushi craving hits.
Danny Sinsua
Been a long time customer for 3-4 years now and always returned there without any hesitation. Here's my take of consistency because at one stage I was there twice a week and it was consistent through and through. Size didn't change. I would've noticed if it was different as I'm a frequent there since day one. <br/>Sushis are fresh, especially the sashimi, favourites are spider roll, snake roll, himawari. They just recently got voted the top3 best sushi outlets in Brisbane. It doesn't need explaining. Highly recommend. <br/><br/>**parking is a nightmare at peak dinner time but that's another story because of the area
Jane
Yum! Sushi is always fresh and beautifully presented. It's BYO too which is always a plus. We drive from the Northside for this place. Will definitely be back!
Tomcat
Oishii is the famous sushi bar just up the road from Pineland plaza. The restaurant has been a long term Tomcat family fav and the preferred place this year to celebrate Mother’s day. For this special occasion with a group of 4pp, we ordered: black dragon, white dragon, spider roll, tempura delight, hand rolls, omu yakisoba & omu chya han. Being mother’s day, a macaroon was given to each mum. A very nice touch!<br/><br/>Three varieties were chosen for the hand rolls: prawn & avocado, tempura prawn & BBQ eel. The hand rolls were freshly made with well-cooked and seasoned sushi rice. The BBQ eel was warm, juicy and presents a chargrilled flavour. The disappointment however was the cold, almost chewy tempura prawn. 3.5/5<br/><br/>Spider roll was up next with fried soft shell crab, shredded egg and cucumber all covered with fly fish roe. The dish was well presented with generous amount of ingredients in each sushi piece. First bite and everyone went a bit quite. The soft shell crab was cold and chewy and shredded eggs near flavourless. The only positive was the well-seasoned rice. What a disappointment for my favourite dish! 2.5/5<br/><br/>Tempura delight contains tempura prawns and shredded cucumber covered with fly fish roe, mayo & tempura flakes. Cold fried ingredients remains to be an issue with the tempura chewy and virtually flavourless even with the shower of mayo. You can tell the tempura was cooked hours in advanced by the chewy texture and stale taste of the tempura flakes. 2.5/5<br/><br/>The white dragon was made with little red lobster salad (not the expensive kind), shredded cucumber topped with raw scallop, and spicy mayo. The dish was my mum’s fav in the past but again lacks flavour compared to previous visits. Flavour profile was linear with spicy mayo and slight hint of fishiness. The crab salad tasted bland and failed to deliver any punch to this dish. 3/5<br/><br/>The black dragon with tamago and cucumber topped with teriyaki BBQ eel was the highlight of the night. The eel was warm, flavourful & juicy. All ingredients worked perfectly together and well-balanced. That was the only dish my mum gave the thumbs up. 4/5<br/><br/>The omu chya han was ordered for my young one. The well-presented dish contains fried rice with teriyaki marinated chicken, carrot & onion all wrapped in a single piece egg sheet. Visually speaking, the dish seems very appetising. A taste of the rice you will realize it’s mildly warm and lacks flavour. What's disappointing was the rubbery and cold egg sheet which again presents a pre-cooked for hours stale taste. 3/5<br/><br/>Omu yakisoba was the last dish to arrive with diced chicken, carrot, onion, green capsicum wrapped in egg sheet. Taste wise, a bit more flavourful with Japanese style bbq sauce and well-cooked veggies. The chicken on the other hand was totally taste less. The egg sheet is the same story as above. 3/5<br/><br/>Overall service was average at best. Tea refills and requests were followed up a number of times. From observation, I realized a few waitresses developed the habit of looking towards the sushi making area and totally avoiding attention to any of the tables. For a full house, that’s quite unacceptable. 3/5<br/><br/>The dining experience that night was a disappointing one & inconsistent with my previous visits. It was clear short cuts were taken. Mrs Tomcat had a weekday lunch with friends two weeks prior where the same complaint regarding tasteless sushi and poor service was noted.<br/><br/>Hint: Be good to your mum 
🍴
Loovvveeee this place. It's a family favourite. We've been here maybe 15 times over the past 3 years. Everything we've ordered has always tasted great. Service is always quick with consistently fresh food. Portion sizes are good. Though if you only order sushi, be prepared to spend a bit extra on your meal. You may want to book ahead when dining in for dinner on the weekend. Parking is a big problem, especially as it's on a main road so no street parking close by. Out of 15 visits, we probably managed to get a parking spot in the car park twice. Although we always visited on a Saturday or Sunday night so they (and the other restaurants) were busy.

I love this place! The service is quick, friendly and fast. The sushi is delicious. And it's well priced for what you get. We came here in a group of 3 just before it opened on a Thursday night and staff were attentive giving us menus to look over even though they weren't open yet. Highly recommended!

update **** 2 years later i came back to oishii with a few friends. we ordered all of the menu favourites - 6 rolls in total. i still stand by my comment. the first few times i came here a few years ago it was outstanding. now, it is just very average. red dragon: salmon not cold enough ... not much avocado. sweet potato roll: came out fresh and was actually very nice. red bull, black dragon, himawari chicken: all good but not amazing quality. again - the filling standard has just dropped. its not bad it's just that i remember it being so much better. i am big on the fresh fish and so the fact that the salmon quality has dropped is a major disappointment. also - the service i had on my most recent visit was awful. we were seated by the front outside and so we weren't served. we had to get our own water. we had to go get someone to take our order after about 20+ minutes. and all of the rolls came out super scattered despite the fact that we all ordered individually. the sweet potato roll was super fresh but it came out about 15 minutes after the first roll came out. honestly, i just wouldnt return again and im super disappointed i no longer have a favourite sushi spot. <br/><br/> the standard here is dropping. the first time i went i was amazed at the quality of fish and good proportion of filling to rice in the rolls. the red dragon was an absolute addiction of mine.  but every time ive gone back lately its getting consistently smaller and smaller. i do not wish to return any time soon.
Matt
Sushi was really nice and the salmon we had was a generous serve. But the chicken Karaage had large dry pieces which was a big let down for a simple dish that I love. Overall a good meal though
Johnny Cuong
Quality of sushi is explained by their name "oishi". If you want to experience good sushi, you should check this restaurant. Price is not too expensive which pretty good for you to spend a night out. However, you should make a reservation if you go there on Saturday or Sunday. And there will not have enough parking space for you on weekend. Should recommend to the owner change the light for the restaurant because it maybe to dark with me when they used orange one.

August 2015<br/><br/>Not bad.<br/>Decor is ok ... clean. Nothing special.<br/><br/>Service is fair... they understand English; and not too slow.<br/><br/>Food is Taiwanese influenced Japanese. If you are after a real Japanese experience this is not for you. We had Salmon Lovers plate ($30 for 15 pcs salmon sashimi + salmon roe - although the time we went they had no roe so they gave us a few more pieces of salmon), Omu Yakisoba ($13 - yaki soba wrapped in an omelette), salmon nigiri (not listed on the menu but they charged a higher than usual $8 per serve of two pieces!!).<br/><br/>Verdict: Value for money seems good and the food appears fresh.

A bit of an out of the way location but great fresh sushi at a reasonable price. Definitely recommend. We could taste the quality ingredients and feshly made sushi vs our usual sushi train type restaurant.

Lovely fresh food, beautifully presented.  Very cheap prices.  Staff friendly and helpful.  A really pleasurable dining experience.   Sashimi the best ever.   Real wide choice of menu items way beyond just sushi

I visited Oishii sushi bar yesterday for lunch with my family. We ordered Red dragon, Himawari, Spider roll and Tempura delight sushi. Was pleased with the first three but nothing special with the Tempura delight. Was expecting more crunch and flavor. All sushi came with good presentation and good portion size. <br/><br/>One of the waitresses were kind enough to give us some recommendation since it's our first time visiting the place. <br/><br/>Some things that could be improve are, we asked for water (not bottled) and they gave us some glasses with warm tap water. Was expecting cold water for lunch in summer day. And yes, we also ordered drink from menu but normally whenever we go to eat and ask for water, they give us nice cold tap water.<br/><br/>And I asked if I could have some extra mayonnaise, she was politely said yes. But when we paid for the bill, it's charged extra $2. It would be nice if it was mentioned when I asked for it and didn't come as a surprise.<br/><br/>We were sitting next to a table full with people who were talking so loud, we couldn't talked to each other without talking loudly as well. It was a better dining experience once they were gone.

Great sushi, and something different to the chain sushi shops. Always busy and has been ever since it opened years ago. I enjoy the variety of dishes available.
S Fingers
Awesome made to order sushis (not like the sushi train type). They have great soft shell crab rolls, scallop and lobster salad rolls and Dynamite rolls (chilli and fresh salmon) . Price  is reasonable - 6 pieces for about $12-15.

Another day, another sushi bar.<br/>If you're into fusion style sushi, then this is a pretty good place to be. They have a selection of various rolls, with fresh flavours and some creativity. Presentation of the food is excellent, and the taste is just as good, but a little overpriced. <br/>The white dragon roll, spider roll and dynamite roll are all excellent, and I enjoy their salmon aburi.

Oishii is a very simple dining experience and while not strictly authentic, they can claim to be a somewhat Japanese restaurant.<br/><br/>The staff are really pleasant, the menu is extensive and food is pretty good. The hand roll set for a suburban restaurant is quite good, well rolled, rice is correctly seasoned the filling is proportional. The Karage chicken, well, lets just say ketchup manis mixed with something I couldn't fully make out it not very Japanese and star anise mixed in the Karage seasoning isn't very Japanese at all but it was really tasty.<br/><br/>Like I say, it's a good place to kick back and east some decent food albeit, not completely Japanese. I'd recommend it for a laid back dining experience.
Ken
I was never a sushi fan, but after having this place now I love sushi, for a plus they display their sushi Instagram friendly as well. The green roll is Himiwari roll - deep fried chicken with avocado paste and seasonings, the pink one is a dynamite roll, a spicy salmon and cucumber roll. Though for me it's not spicy at all

I've been wanting to eat as Oishii for an incredibly long time but we finally ate there on the weekend. There was plenty of seating inside but there's more space outside for bigger parties. We ordered a potato salad and various plates of sushi. The potato salad was actually really great and I loved Himawari roll but I'd like to try more of the menu. The employees were bright and energetic throughout our meal and I'm glad they offer takeaway so we could stop by another time and get these amazing rolls.

So we have been a fan of Oishii Sushi for years (I was quite surprised when I found I hadn't mentioned it on here). We seriously believe they serve the best sushi in Brisbane. The shop is compact and they seem to always be busy. Our favourites are 'White Dragon' and 'Dynamite Rolls'. Other 'Dragons' are pretty good as well. (White = Scallop, Red = Salmon, Black = Unagi a.k.a Eel). Hot dishes are a bit middle of the road but their sushi are always truly amazing which make up for it. They open at lunch all the way through to dinner. Oddly we find dinner is a bit more enjoyable.<br/><br/>If you love fusion styled sushi, I want to recommend this place. I know you will love me for it.

We have been coming here for years. The Service is always good, the food is always served quickly. Food is always fresh. My partner usually hates sushi but loves the sushi here.
Sammieats
My all time favourite restaurant with friendly staff, efficient service and consistent food. The sashimi is always fresh and served in generous sizes. The sushi has also been consistently delicious throughout the many years I have been a regular customer of the restaurant. I highly recommend the spider roll (soft shell crab), dynamite roll (spicy salmon) and white dragon (scallops). Great for large groups and for sharing. I recommend booking in advance as it gets busy even on weekdays!
Paige
So glad we were introduced to this place. It's seriously good! I can't go past the himawari because it's the best sushi I've ever had. It can get quite busy on the weekends and parking can be an issue - so booking in advance is a good idea
Mike Crossman
Fantastic little Japanese restaurant tucked away in an unassuming spot in Sunnybank Hills. Great tasting Sushi and mains, and the presentation to go with it. Oishii sets out to create an enjoyable food experience for those willing to give it a go.
Katrina
My favourite sushi place hands down. I keep coming back for the efficient, friendly service and delicious sushi. Sushi rolls I'd recommend are the himawari (chicken sushi wrapped in an omelette), spider roll (soft shell crab) and snake roll (salmon sushi tempura) - the wasabi mayo on the snake roll is amazing! Other dishes enjoyed were the omu yakisoba which is fried noodles wrapped in an omelette and the chicken curry if you're into that.
Anthony H
Fantastic sushi at extremely reasonable prices! This is now the go to sushi restaurant for my girlfriend and I - the food quality is far in excess of what their price point. The red dragon rolls are our personal favourite.
Christine Nguyen
My friend and I tried this place out of a need for a change and it was a delight. The sushi was beyond perfection for incredibly reasonable prices. They say quality over quantity (or vice versa) but for the sushi at Oishii, it definitely was neutral. Every meal that we had was delicious, but one dish definitely caught the eye.<br/>Now because I am a spice lover, I did buy the Spicy Beef. This served to be absolutely amazing. The presentation was beautiful, not the mention the taste itself. As soon as you bite into the sushi, there is a fine crunch which is then accommodated Spicy yet sweet flavour. This was the first plate that my friend and I finished.<br/><br/>The service was lovely too, all the girls were so sweet and the chef's were welcoming. <br/>Will definitely return very, very soon.<br/>

Can't believe I've never tried this place out, so after recommendations I finally did and was delighted about it! <br/><br/>We booked luckily because it can get quite busy on some nights. Food came out very quickly for a place that makes it to order. Sushi was fresh and super tasty. Can highly recommend everything in the pictures I've added! One of my top sushi restaurants in Brisbane :)
Jevon
Came here today for lunch, it had a pleasant atmosphere and nice service. <br/><br/>Ordered the omu yakisoba, the taste of the noodles felt underwhelming... Shared a few plates of sushi as well, nothing in particular stood out. <br/><br/>I was abit disappointed with the quality of the food and i will probably come back only if I need a fast and affordable meal.
Mister Sparkles
Haven't travelled to many restaurants north of Brisbane city, but as far as sushi restaurants go, Oishii Sushi is by far the best south of Brisbane city.<br/><br/>The food is amazing, prepared fresh with the owner and head chef on hand to watch over and inspect food as it goes out to diners. The food is something else, something for everyone. If you love to eat, your wallet won't be empty.<br/><br/>The decor is simple chairs and metal tables. But have I mentioned how good the food is?<br/><br/>Personal fav? Spider roll. Dynamite roll. Salmon sashimi.
Shannon
We visited for the first time on Saturday night and were thoroughly impressed by the quality and affordability of the food! It was busy but we were seated in a timely manner by courteous and professional staff, and we did not have to wait long for our food either. Our sushi was delicious, well presented and great value for money!
Ai Ng
Quality food at affordable prices! Have held every birthday here for the last 7 years and can never grow tired of the food here. Large flavour filled varieties that will keep you coming back.
Chloe Lam
Favourite sushi place in Brisbane! Always guaranteed fresh, delicious sushi, good customer service and friendly environment. Weekends are quite busy, so would recommend booking. If you're a fan of sushi, highly recommend this place.
Suzie Lee
Our favourite place to eat sushi in Brisbane!<br/>We've been coming here for years and have brought several friends here.  The food is great value and the quality and variety is fantastic.  We love the salmon sashimi, agedashi tofu, dragon roll (avocado and salmon), himawari roll (chicken karaage with an omelette skin), spider roll (tempura soft shell crab), omu yakisoba (fried noodles wrapped in omelette), omu chya han (fried rice wrapped in omelette) and nasu dengkaku (grilled eggplant with miso paste).  It's best to come with a few friends so that you can try and share lots of dishes!  And make sure you book on Friday and Saturday nights!
Gouteur
The sushi at this place is delicious eventhough it is expensvie but it is dissapointing that there is no tuna sashimi. Not that packed on weekdays n weekends.
XeaTs
One of the top places for sushi in Brisbane. Sushi is always consistently delicious and fresh. I don't really bother with the other menu items because the sushi is always great and satisfying! The staff are polite and attentive which is always good. Always return here for a sushi fix.

Service =4.5<br/>Food = 4.5<br/>Consistency= 4.5<br/>Ambience = 4.0<br/><br/>One of the really good sushi bars.... Always great consistency. Yakitori is amazing.<br/>

After so many friends told me about how much of a great sushi place Oishii Sushi Bar is, I just had to go see what all the fuss was about. The result? The salmon is some of the freshest and tastiest I've ever had! Oishii Sushi Bar is the place to go if you don't know where to go (believe me, you will be more than satisfied).<br/><br/>A serving each of the White Dragon (lobster salad and cucumber roll topped with fillets of Hokkaido scallops & Oishii's spicy mayonnaise and black Tobiko), the Yaki Udon (stir fried Japanese noodles with chicken & vegetables), and my personal favourite, the Snake roll (medium rare salmon, Tobiko & avocado wrapped in salmon skin tempura, dressed in wasabi mayonnnaise) was enough to fill two hungry customers! Each piece of sushi was expertly crafted and so beautifully placed that we almost didn't want to eat it, but when we did, there was no regrets! <br/><br/>Only downside for me was the location and pricing (if I was to really be picky). Located just off Pinelands Rd adjacent to a 7/11, that's all the view you'll get from this place. Other than that, this place was great! Will definitely be coming back for another round of sushi, with a bigger crowd to please!
Jessica Meiku
Oishii is my favourite (fusion) sushi restaurant, and where I like to go to treat myself without spending TOO much. I recommend coming with a small group of people so you can order a few dishes to share.<br/>I particularly love: unatama maki (eel and fish roe), himawari (deep fried chicken roll wrapped in an omelette), red dragon (salmon and avocado) and white dragon (lobster and scallop).<br/><br/>I want to try their donburi and soba one day but I can't go past their sushi...<br/><br/>Be warned: parking can be tricky, but it's worth it.

This place is fantastic. I travel around Brisbane trying sushi at various locations. This place is absolutely one of the best. Prices are fair. Food is great every single time. Good portion size. It is a casual dining experience so don't expect any fancy decorations. Once you eat sushi at a place like this, you'll feel ripped off going to other japanese restaurants to pay higher prices for average sushi.
Piffthemagicdragon
Hands down the best sushi in Brisbane. If you enjoy Salmon sashimi and wasabi, the snake roll is an Oishii specialty that you will love. Red dragon roll is also fantastic. Staff are friendly and the venue is not fancy but sufficient.
Mr X
One of the best sushi restaurants in Brisbane, in my opinion. Very decadently presented, fresh and tastes great. My personal favourite is the red dragon - the one with the salmon and avacado. The rice dishes are great as well if you're not feeling like sushi - I recommend the aburi salmon don. The service is always fast - the dishes come out about 5-10 minutes after you order. <br/><br/>When coming here, the carpark is quite congested, so it is much more ideal to park in the Pinelands shopping centre next door and walk over there to save being honked at and stuck a very small, cramped carpark where potential crashes await you.
MsK
Still the best and freshest sushi place! Service is good as always and food comes out quickly. My favorite is himawari sushi rolls and they also make a good rice omelette too.
Theitalianfoodie
Yum yum yum!!! Fresh and delicious sushi dishes. The menu had a lot of variety and choice of sushi. Staff were attentive and the food came out quickly. I would definitely return
Camille Zhang
My love for Japanese food began as a child at my dads restaurants. Now that he's retired when i feel like sushi this is the first place to come to mind. I wouldnt come here daily only because its a bit pricey for a uni student. Sometimes parking is hard since the restaurants in that area are all fairly decent. Love the soft shell crab rolls and the wasabi mayo
Kingdamo
Spider roll my favourite. Spider rolls are my favourite this was the first place I tried this at 5 years ago and still love them 9/10
Facebook User
White dragon roll and sashimi are my favourites. Always fresh and tasty. Staff is friendly and welcoming.
Catherine92bne
One of the best sushi in bne!. The food was amazing. Presentation, taste, colour, freshness was perfect. The sashimi like they just catch the fish in the morning! Very kind, fast and professional service from the floor staff. Keep up the good work! I was there with my friends and we like it to the max. Definitely coming back!! And my friend had a crush with the sushi chef with the maroon hat lols
C
Still a fave after many years. We have been here so many times that we have lost count, and for a good year we were getting it at least once a fortnight. Its very consistent and comes out fairly quickly most of the time. The Red Dragon is to DIE for, we get it without fail.
Lia.dynamic
Soooooos slooooooooow. Took them 45 minutes to serve dinner for 2 people...and there were only 2 tables whilst we were dining there.<br/>The dishes were pretty good & fresh, but taking 45 minutes for 3 dishes is just too long.
Marinamlinaric
Terrible. This sushi restaurant would not cater to my needs when i asked them. They refused to help and made me experience unpleasant... i will not go back Ever again.
Ytencate
FAVOURITE. This is the best sushi I have had. The food is fresh and I love the Red Dragon, White Dragon and the Eggplant cooked with a Miso glaze. It's hard to pick a true favourite as it's all delicious. The salmon is so fresh you would think they had just caught it. Any time I have family or friends visit I take them to Oishii although it was a downer when they had closed over the New Year break but then good for them. The staff are so polite and attentive and the food is a 10/10.
T
Favourite sushi plaaaaaaaaace! Everything is delicious and presented beautifully! Service is always great as well! Love ittttttttttttttttttt
TzeLing
Best Japanese in Brisbane South. Love the Japanese food there. Nice sushi! it's just too bad that they don't serve chawanmushi!
HungryCaterpillar
Birthday Dinner. Came here for a birthday dinner and everything was just the way it should be. Attentive staff and the sushi dishes were delicious. I didn't know how to appreciate the rice dishes, found them tend to be too sweet for my liking. Pity they don't sell alcohol. Would be prefect to have my sushi with a bottle of sake.
MD
Consistant and good quality food!. Food is always good and consistent here.<br/>The sushi and other meals has good combination of flavours very tasty and very fresh.<br/>This place is nearly always packed even on weeknights. I suggest booking.<br/>The food always comes out very quick as they have many sushi chefs on the line.<br/>Favourite sushi is the white dragon roll.
Erichpowell
Lived up to the hype!. Maybe the best service I've had in Brisbane. plus some very excellent sushi and extremely reasonable pricing. the only downside is the parking lot. I will be back for sure
Alb
Disappointed. Booked for 11ppl but when we turned up for the night, were told our seats were taken. What else to say. Poor customer service.
Sabrina
Good japanese. I like eating here because the sushi is fresh, fast, its local to where i live and very tasty too.
Oliviericlaudio
Delicious meals and excellent service!!!!. The mix of flavours is exquisite. I totally recommend this place. A must try are the tori karaage, garlic butter scallops, red dragon & spider roll. Also, the tempura ice cream was marvellous.<br/>I'm definitely coming back!
Student329
Sushi as always beautiful but sashimi way overpriced with salmon the only choice. 15 odd pieces of<br/>salmon for $30 is more expensive than sono or sake. ridiculous.
Alexi_b
Great sushi! Would definitely come here again.
Robbo
Good food, okay service..
Kelly Eu
The sushi at this restaurant is absolutely amazing. Every dish is unique and innovative, providing a totally different experience from your typical "California roll please" experience. The sushi is made fresh daily, the walls are charmingly covered in portraits of the best selling dishes and of course they have some typical dishes like karage for the less adventurous. And the best thing is that it's all at a reasonable price. You get your money's worth, with friendly faces to serve you. Highly recommended.
Soulman
Cheap sushi. Possibly the best sushi in Brisbane. A great healthy alternative and the sushi is always fresh and made daily.
Jamakinmehungry
Go-to local sushi. Love Oishii! ♥♥♥♥♥<br/>I personally have not tried the other dishes apart from sushi because, well, why would you when there is authentic japanese sushi with large portion sizes, perfect for sharing, and theres always space for green tea ice cream! :D
David K
Not as good as it used to be. I used to go here a lot a few years ago, but when I went a couple weeks back the quality of the fish was really lacking. I had both salmon and tuna sashimi and maki, the fish was kinda meally and had definitely been frozen and thawed as it was quite watery too.
Syphoness
Visiting from interstate and was referred here by Urbanspoon. Very happy with our experience here. Had dinner for a group of 8 and food was fantastic, arrived promptly, helped us serve my daughter's bday cake. Excellent sushi and generous rice servings. Reasonable pricing. Recommended.
Dave
Outstanding. Excellent dragon roll sushi. One of my favourite places for a quick lunch.
Leonenickson
Oishii. Excellent food, excellent service. Atmosphere and interior design need alot of work. Invest some time and money and you've got the new 'it' place this side of town, not that it isn't already overflowing with happy customers any night of the week. <br/><br/>Will definitely be a returning customer :)
Aditya Adrian Januar
Love the food. One of the best sushi in town. Fair price and delicious sushi!! Love the presentation and good service. Definitely will come back in the future!!
Yiwen.hor
Happy customer. Love the food served and the service provided. Have returned a couple of times and will continue to do so. However, the food may be quite pricey so its best to visit in a group so you can share and try a bit of all assortments and flavours of sushi.
Jase
Great Sushi. Ok not traditional Japanese sushi but sushi came from China so who cares??? How many Italian?French restaurants have Australians working the kitchen. Anyway food here is different and very nice. If its busy be prepared to wait.
Casey
Consistent food & Very thoughtful Service. Now, Oishii holds a very special place in my heart - I've visited, and ended up coming back to this place sushi bar now and then because of its delicious food and thoughtful service.<br/><br/>As per usual, the fish (whether its salmon/tuna/unagi) are very fresh and just melt in the mouth. The food is very clean and the restaurant takes time and patience to make their food presentable, unlike many other sushi restaurants. If you're a first timer there and like eating fish, definitely order one of the dragons (keeping in mind that the white dragon is a spicy one that, sadly, some people may not be able to tolerate, like myself), the himawari (essentially "sunflower", basically sushi containing fried pork, wrapped up with thinly fried egg, sprinkled with sesame seeds and other flavours), or if you want to splurge a little - try the deluxe sashimi platter!<br/><br/>Although it's a bit pricey depending on what you've ordered (e.g. the deluxe sashimi platter), it's a worthwhile place to visit if it's a special occasion with close friends, family, or even a loved one. Unfortunately it does get a little bit noisy at times (especially near dinner time), but why not view that as a indication to how popular this restaurant is (if it's not popular, one can assume that no one would actually want to go there - therefore the place would be quiet)?<br/><br/>The thoughtful service is always a bonus at this place. The waitresses/waiters are thoughtful as they guide you through to your seats, constantly refilling cups with water, and being very considerate of their customers (I was suffering from a sore throat, and one of them asked me if I needed warm water - which she proceeded to boil in a kettle for me). A very warm and welcoming environment where bookings can be made quickly without a hassle.<br/><br/>This restaurant is one of my favourites and I will always revisit this place for a special occasion.
Quan Tran
$20 a person!. The establishment is not Japanese, but that's not uncommon nowadays. The service is great but it's next to impossible to get a table without booking hours in advance in the nights that are later in the week. The miso ($2) and green tea ($1.50) prices are indicative for the rest of the menu. <br/><br/>Yes, you DO pay $15 for a dish. This usually comes with 6 sushi slice servings. To the person complaining about spending $30-$40 for dinner, where do you usually eat? McDonalds? <br/><br/>I don't frequent Oiishi often as it is out of the way and I would do broke. But as a nice treat or even get together $20 is quite an expected price to pay. The fish is always exceptional and the plating beautiful presented.<br/><br/>The hand rolls ($4) aren't too impressive. I have not tried the sashimi as it was $27. The favourites are the scallops or fresh salmon.<br/><br/>Kudo's for the family who run this place for raising the bar for asian contemporary dining in the suburbs.
Amy-t
I love this place! The sushi is consistently great- very fresh and flavoursome. The avocado fantasy, spider salad and agadashi tofu are favourites. It's also really nice to find somewhere that's byo with no corkage and where two people can dine for under $30-40.
John.smith123
Reasonable price? No!. The sushi is nice, but not the best. Compare to the price, it is overpriced for sure. <br/>With similar price, I would get much better service and fresher sushi at other japanese restaurant.<br/>Just the presentation definitely makes the food look much fancier, but the taste is just average. It can only beat the fast food sushi train over the presentation. That's it.<br/>You want real sushi with similar price, do not go to chinese owned restaurant as the chinese serves their food fast and not pay attention to details like the Japanese do.
Michael Pham
Been coming here for the last 6 years and am always satisfied. Brilliant food with reasonable prices. Sushi is fresh and to die for
Flavoursaver
Best sushi in Brisbane. Always leave full and satisfied, with very little impact on the old bank account. The dragon roll is a favourite, and the miso soup is delish. The staff are always quick and it's so easy to get their attention when you want more food in your gob. This place is even better with a big group so you can mix it up and order one of everything.
Sword
The truth. Food was off
Cassoulet
Nice and NOT expensive. Had dinner here on Sunday night. Walked in, no reservation. Staff and service very pleasant. Food was great. I don't know why this place is listed as '$$$' as the prices are reasonable, and the portions are quite large. Don't expect prices like a sushi train or something, but this place is not expensive.
Giddyup
AMAZING. Come here it is amazing. Bit hard to find parking but that the only flaw. I've been here over 30 times and never could complain once about price, service or food. I've probably tried everything on the menu and it's all delicious especially the sushi!
Cheryl
Yummy sushi rolls, great yakisoba, very friendly staff, will be better if there are more choices for nigirin and noodle dishes :-)
The Invisible Food Critic
Consistent with Good Standards. I always liked this place. Nothing fancy, no nice decor, no romatic dinners; just a nice casual lunch or dinner. For the price of having a decent meal at sushi train (or a little more), Oishii Sushi Bar delivers many special range of sushi with awesome flavours. Service is not the best, but food is always a thumbs up with 10 out of 10 times good standards. Always made to order and always fresh. I rate this 7/10 and will go back anytime and any day.
TMD
Not authentic at all. Not the best place for sushi in Brisbane but not the worse either, but to call this the BEST JAPANESE sushi is really beyond beliefs. (BEST CHINESE sushi perhaps?)<br/>The taste is somewhat close to what a typical chinese and australian would love, but definitely not for a japanese pallet. (is actually weird and over greasy).
Bunny
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS Best s.... ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS<br/>Best sushi place I have ever tried in Brisbane
Corza_21
BEST SUSHI IN BRISBANE. I have tried almost every sushi place in Brisbane and this is by far the best. Their food is always consistantly awesome and the portions, pricing and service is amazing.
Forever Hungry
Scrumptious fancy sushi. Red & white dragons - simply scrumptious. Spider rolls are pretty good too. <br/>Other things on the menu are pretty standard - decent taste and acceptable price.
Sarah
Love, love, love. We absolutely love this place, and we literally roll out of this place after we've eaten here. I don't know why we always over order and over eat, it must be because the sushi is so fresh and tasty and the serves are so big. Bang for your buck I say. The sashimi is also awesome, we always have a plate of this when we come and it's always so fresh. Love your work guys. Keep it up.
Lisa Liu
BEST SUSHI!. I heard rave reviews about this place, but NOTHING could describe how delicious this food was when I had it! Their spider roll was lightly fried to perfection and their ingredients are fresh. You could tell especially with their cucumber; it was juicy and sweet. Their roe actually tasted nice, instead of salty and off.
Herperderp
Yup!. Soft shell crab sushi? Delicious. The portions are small-average so you may need to order several dishes. It's clean and delicious! A little on the expensive side compared to some other sushi bars. They have tables inside and outside and it's better to make a booking on the weekend or you may be waiting for a long time
Cindykg
Delicious! I've been going here for years and it has never disappointed me. For the Aussies who don't touch raw fish, go or the himawari roll!
Kim
Consistently great sushi. I especially love the dynamite roll with salmon.
Pankate
Poor service- got our order wrong and offered no solution. Food was bland- no flavour. Disappointed after hearing such a hype about it. Won't be back
I Love Food
Used to be good. Visited Oishii Sushi Bar recently and was quite disappointed by the service and food. A dish was also missing from the order and we had to wait a very long time before it came out.
Hoptail
Great sushi.. Was taken as a birthday gift. <br/>Probably some of the best sushi I've had in Brisbane heretofore. <br/><br/>Sushi and sashimi were fresh. Karaage chicken, also something I would recommend.
Valentina
It's doesnt matter where the restaurant owner come from. The important things are the food and the service. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the food and the service. It's quite average and I don't know why it is so popular
Posh
Disappointed. We had Red Bull and I was so disappointed. Rice was warm and there was almost no prawn (with such a thick tempura batter)!!! Better off buying the sushi rolls from other takeaway shops. Other dishes were ok and resonably-priced though.
Alice Likes Food
Good sushi, rude owner. Really yummy sushi but the lady owner was very rude. 20 minutes before they closed she came over to our table to give us the bill and basically made us pay on the spot. We were still finishing our drinks but felt like we were forced to leave so they could stack the chairs and start cleaning up. Unfortunately just because they have good food and are busy they think they can be rude to customers.
Peter Koevari
Overpriced menu, average food, rude manager.<br/><br/>This restaurant is right next to restaurants in Sunnybank that are reasonably priced. But they put their menu at a price point of the CBD.<br/><br/>We ordered two meals, both of them were "okay", one better than the other, but not warranting the price tag.<br/><br/>The manager/owner came over as we had a drink that we brought with us, and was quite rude about it. He said that he can put it in the fridge as it's not allowed inside. It wasn't the message, as much as the angry face, shortsighted view, and rude delivery.<br/><br/>I don't work for you, so don't talk down to me like I am your subordinate. Your position does not impress me.<br/><br/>Here is a thought for you, Oishi, learn good customer service. But on top of that, we ordered two meals at your inflated prices... What do you win by making me remove my drink from our table? Aside from me never coming here again?<br/><br/>Not coming back, and we eat out a lot. Food doesn't warrant the price, and the service left a bad taste in my mouth.<br/><br/>When I leave, I will finish my drink, all you have done is lost a customer. There are many restaurants in Sunnybank with better food and a lower price tag.
Lee.
Delicious sushi. I don't think I could ever get sick of this place.<br/>Great food, good serving sizes, great prices for the quality and quantity you get.<br/>Definitely must try this if you have not yet.
Bree
YUMMY!!!!... Food is fresh and delicious. Like others have said I recommend red bull + himawari, and also salmon sashimi. Service is prompt, pleasant and professional.
Sessie
RUDE. I made a reservation and after a 40 dollar cab ride they told me they had closed the kitchen upon my arrival. VERY unprofessional. The interior was sleazy and I wonder if it is really authentic Japanese when the signs on the wall are in Chinese. Go to Sono if you want to spend money on sushi and have a REAL Japanese experience.
I Love Food
Want consistent food, come here!. Best place by far in Brisbane for sushi, the sashimi is always fresh and the rice in the sushi rolls is cooked to perfection and not soggy like other places. Definitely recommended
Andrew
Legend....wait for it....awesome. Have been here many many times over the last few years and have ALWAYS left feeling so full that I feel sick...however I don't want to throw up because the sushi here is easily the best and freshest in Brisbane. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone from someone trying to convince a first-time sushi'er to Mr Miyagi from the Karate Kid.<br/><br/>My personal recommendation: the Himawari
Keilleigh
Favourite Sit-Down Sushi Place. I couldn't count how many times we've been to Oishii's over the last few years. It'd have to be around 40 times or closer to 50. Every single time without fail the quality has been incredible. Although the prices went up (marginally) about a year ago and the sushi roll servings seem to have shrunk a tiny bit, you will still not find better value for money. Their karaage is to die for (apart from Ginga, best in Brisbane), their plates of salmon sashimi are the freshest you'll find, their eggplant with miso is out of this world, but most importantly the sushi is absolutely perfect. Great / friendly staff too, every single time we've been. It's a good idea to book unless you get there just on opening time.
Susi_Susina
Always beautiful fresh sushi, the Red Dragon sushi is one of the dishes we always order and love.
Clare
I love oishii! I eat there about once a fortnight. I regularly get salmon sashimi, edamame, or himawari. The food is always beautifully presented and fresh and the service is generally very friendly.
Jon Pau
Best tasting sushi I've ever had! Put smiles on faces from first bite until end. Spider roll is my fav!
Kiat And Sarah
Excellent quality seafood. Imaginative sushi. We had the top sashimi plate for $25 and a few smaller plates. Spent $57 for two for Sat lunch. Need a car to get there from Brisbane. Nice service. We'd go back.
Man1
Bad Service!. Have been there since they first opened. They used to have very nice sushi and efficient staff. However, for the last few visits, the sushi are now smaller and the service was BAD BAD BAD!<br/>One time we were sitting at the table right in front of the kitchen where the waiters and waitresses stands. They kept talking and giggling the whole time even when some tables needs to be cleaned.<br/>We were out of tea for so long which they saw but pretended as if they didn't see it. We had to ask few times for the tea to be refilled.<br/>Last time, we had to ask for water 3 times from 3 different people and it arrived just before we finished the last plate of sushi.<br/>I can totally understand for the lack of service if they are low in staff but it's unforgivable when they are just plain lazy.
Ann Liang
Derishus!. This place didn't have the fanciest decor but it's food was definitely up to scratch! We ordered between three a deluxe sashimi platter, octopus balls, unagi, spider rolls and salmon-wrapped sushi rolls. All in all, they were extremely satisfying with the exception of the spider rolls having mayonnaise which was not mentioned on the menu (I have a friend who loathes mayonnaise and would not consume it). We paid $25 each for a filling meal (reasonable price for Japanese cuisine!) and walked away very happy.
Kevin Spradlin
Great Sushi. Oishii was crowded but that just made the atmosphere even better. Delicious sushi, overall a great Japanese restaurant.
Gustatory Delights
Hard to beat. This place has the freshest sushi I have had in Brisbane. There were no stand out dishes, as they were all so good. While I initially thought it was expensive, if you compare what you get on a plate at one of the chain stores, it is actually well priced. This place will definitely be seeing a lot of me!!!
Bullette Angus
This place was not good it was fantastic !!!! Food amazing staff very willing to show us a great experience spider rolls mouth watering chicken and egg devine price perfect what more can I say
Tuyen
I love to hate this place. It serves great sushi but is renowned for the grotesque service. Went in on a Sunday night, and the waitress spilt my drink, and rather than apologize and clean the mess, she threw down some extra napkins for me to fix up myself. Useless!
Nina Will Eat
Good but not great. Back when this place first opened, I used to love their sushi - especially the spider roll and red dragon. Those were my go-to dishes. Nowadays, prices have gone up a tad too high and the spider roll is getting smaller and smaller. I was very disappointed last time by the salmon sashimi. It lacked the creamyness you look for in fresh salmon. Also, the salmon skin wrapped sushi sat in a bed of oil which ruined the entire meal because we walked away with oily mouths - not what you want after a japanese meal.
Captainshaft
Nice sushi even thou it's not authentic Japanese style. But their chef have put their personal touches and twists in their sushi such that it is an absolute stand out amongst this huge sushi market
Gravy Train
Always amazing. I have eaten here more then 20 times and it never fails. Amazing fresh sushi, great staff and service. The place eat sushi in Brisbane . 10/10

Delish! The service was great! They were all really friendly. And the sushi was great! The presentation was awesome and tasted awesome too.

Excellent food. Creative sushi. Tempura really well done
Foodlover
Went here to eat the other night for the first time and I have to say the sushi fusion choices would be the best items on the menu. The food was brought out fast, service was good. Some of my Favourite were the soft shell crab (spider roll), red dragon and this chicken sushi with egg omelette on the outside. Sushi was beautifully presented and tasted really good. It's worth a try and the food is well cooked. Some of the best I've had in Brisbane.

Spider rolls worth a try. I've been going here since they first opened a few years back and it was basically a one man band (well, kind of). Their spider rolls are well worth a try, as are their other fusion rolls - although, they have become smaller in size in recent times. Their triple treat hand rolls are good value, so we always get that.<br/><br/>I've had sashimi there before but didn't find it as fresh as it should be. Hot food is so so - stick with the sushi rolls.<br/><br/>It isn't the best Japanese place in Brisbane, however if you're in Runcorn, it's a steady place and you know what to expect.

Best Sushi. One of the best Sushi places in Brisbane (if not THE best)!

Hot food I tried was average but the sushi was great. Well worth the trip and good value.

Best Sushi in Brisbane. Friendly staff, quick service and yummy
Derek
Yummy!. Been here numerous times and I always enjoy myself. Must try the Spider Roll, soft shell crab goodness!

Easily the best sushi in bris hands down.

Great Food. This is one of the rare restaurants where the food pictures on the wall actually look the SAME as the food served on the table.<br/><br/>Having been to this place multiple times, it rates as one of the better places to eat. It seems that the portion size of a few dishes have decreased over time, but not exorbitantly so. The taste on the other hand has been consistently good every time I've been there. Definitely worth it.

Always fresh & delish. I love coming here. we always book thank goodness because the restaurant is always busy. staff are great and you don't need to wait too long before meals start coming out. love the spider roll, sunflower, red dragon and the deep fried eggplant with miso - amazing!<br/>high recommended. great value for money with a group as you can easily share. can't wait to come back again.

Delicious. Sushi made onsite there so you know its fresh, I've been many many times and it's never disappointed me.<br/>Unlike Sushi Train, the menu is a little more contemporary, my favourite is the Spider Roll which is soft shell crab sushi.
Iheartfood
Cheap and cheerful. Service is friendly and attentive, although at busier time your order may take longer than usual. Otherwise this is great place around the southside to have yummy sushi rolls ( must try the spider roll!)

Sushi quality that's unlike Brisbane. This is one of the only Sushi places you can go and really be wow'd. The presentation is impeccable and the quality of the food is outstanding. The only downside is that the open hours are so few.

I absolutely love this place. I'm a loyal regular. Best sushi in town.

Well done, good presentation, I'm surprised the owner is not Japanese since it is so authentic

Wrong Suburb. Guys, we're actually not in Coorparoo as the address shows. I don't know how to change the address but we are actually in Sunnybank Hills.

Eat Here!. This place has a relaxed friendly atmosphere and delicious food (as the name indicates!) which is very reasonably priced! I live on the northside but my father and I often have craving that make us drive all the way across town. <br/>Eat at Oishii and you won't be disappointed!

The first to arrive for us was the large salmon sashimi. It was very fresh and yummy and I particularly enjoyed their salmon roe, although last time I had this, I remembered they put more effort into the presentation, with some sashimi being shaped like a rose.  One of my sister's favourite dishes at Oishii is the Tuna Avocado Maki. She has to order it every time we go there. One thing I do particularly applaud, is the consistency at Oishii. Every time you go there, you can pretty much expect to have the same quality of food. To this note, the Tuna Avocado Maki was well seasoned, and the rice was cooked to a good consistency. This was the Tori Katsu Curry, it had a good ratio of Curry Sauce to rice, and an ample amount of chicken. I found the dish to be a bit small though. Another of my sister's must orders is the Himawari (Sunflower) roll. It is basically a fried chicken sushi roll, wrapped in a thinly fried piece of egg in with some seasoning on top. The flavours of the chicken and egg were very complementary with one another, and we really liked this dish. Next came the Red Bull, which was a crumbed (not tempura) prawn roll. As you can see, the rice to filling ratio wasnt as much as the above rolls, but nevertheless, it was sufficiently flavoured, and the prawns were very crunchy. Without failure, every

Before booking a table for two at Oishii Sushi Bar we hit up Urbanspoon to find out what people were saying...The reviews were overwhelming positive! When people start saying things like... "BEST SUSHI" and "Consistently good" or "We travel all the way from the North-side for their food" ...we get a bit excited. So last Saturday we hopped in the car and made our way to Sunnybank Hills to see what the fuss was about. We were lucky enough to get there as a few people were exiting. It was clear that this was a very popular spot. We thought we'd struggle to find a parking place. Oishii is neighbours with a few other seemingly popular eateries. There are constantly people coming in and moving out. So if you are patient a spot will become available. Upon arrival we were instantly greeted by the owner Eric Adiwinata . He was very friendly, and down to earth guy. We chatted about the restaurant and most importantly the food! Oishii Sushi Bar has been a permanent fixture  in Sunnybank Hills for

Nigiri wasn’t the best but Oishii Fusion sushi were quite nice.
TheCafeCrawler
I’d classify their sushi as Fusion because you don’t really find those types of sushi in Japan – they’ve mixed it all up with different kinds of ingredients to make it their own signature dishes with creative names like “Sunflower” rolls, “Spider” rolls and “Dragon” rolls.

The food came out promptly, and apart for the teriyaki chicken, was pleased with the selections.

The presentation was pretty. They also famous for their fresh and good quality fishes. And yes, it was really delicious. Even their wasabi is fresher, spicier and of course tastier here. Such a worth food to re-experience!

And again, another stopby at Oishii for a dinner.. and the usual order always satisfies my tongue at the end of the night...<br/>The combination of all of the food elements blended and mixed well and with the unique egg wrapped roll makes it a delicious fusionised sushi...Some may call this "Himawari Roll" is the Oishii's famous sushi or the one that everyone would order when they come... And I do have to say, that it is both good looking and yummylicious... <br/>

I've been here a couple of times but never had the chance of reviewing it, so i'm doing it now.. Oishii Sushi Bar is located in a little shopping complex called Pinelands Centre... Its surroundings only has restaurants ranging from Oishii themself, a chinese restaurant next to them, a Korean BBQ restaurant upstairs and others.. It is not Japanese owned or operated Japanese restaurant, and I did end up knowing the owner and a chat with them everytime I do come by.. They're really nice owners and are very friendly.. But I do have to say, out of all the sushi restaurants I have eaten around, whether it's in southside or northside or in the city area, I would have to say that this might be the best sushi around in Brissy.. Their sushi may be fusion as I may call it as there are sushi that they do have that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else or another word would be, unique or not typical..

I know it's a non-Japanese operated Japanese restaurant and its sushi may not be all that authentic. But the food was yummy and very affordable. <br/>

Oishii specialises in "Contemporary style sushi" according to their menu. Both times we have been there, it's been reasonably crowded, so it's obviously a local favourite, and it's also highly rated on Urbanspoon. There is a large outdoor seating area as well as indoor seating. Soft drinks, teas and Japanese beverages are available on a "help yourself" basis from the fridge indoors. On the menu is a range of appetizers, such as yakitori, edamame, karaage and takoyaki as well as various assortments of tempura vegetables and seafood, and then a large range of sushi and sashimi. Further along the menu, are an assortment of "Oishii fusion" sushi, and then a range of hot rice and noodle dishes. The first time we went, we sampled from the Oishii fusion area of the menu as well as ordering some rice dishes. I ordered the Torikatsu don ($11.00) which is crumbed chicken on rice topped with egg, and L o

It was a bit hard to bite through and almost impossible to fit in a mouthful. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, but just had to forego my table manners in the process.

I thought Oishii Sushi was a reasonable Japanese eatery. We enjoyed our food but was disappointed with the sushi itself.

Oishii Sushi Bar used to be our favourite Japanese at the south side of Brisbane, however during our last few visits we were appalled by the poor service and we heard a lot of negative comments from our friends as well. On last Friday we were celebrating
