Had a lunch here last Sunday in a group of three. We ordered a Charcuterie board to share and the mains of wood fired Carpricciosa pizza, Mariana Tagliatelle and a dish of Ravioli with Barramundi.
It was a perfect lunch. Varieties of cured meat, cheese and olives on the broad gave us lots of surprise. Tagliatelle was al dente with heaps of seafood. It was the first time that we tried the ravioli with Barramundi as ingredient, which are all full of rich fish flavour. Wood fried pizza is always the best way preparation. Together with the tomatoes, mushroom, olives, ham, artichoke and mozzarella that shape a perfect pizza for the day.😋😋😋

I Locale is the best Italian in Brisbane. Their pizzas are authentic and delicious, and the desserts are decadent and beautifully presented. I will be returning. A lot.
Came in for dinner the other night and thoroughly enjoyed everything I tried.
My prawn entree and mains were flavoured similarly- garlicky, buttery, chilli goodness. Homemade pasta was well made and cooked al dente. It was a delicious dish.
Partner engaged his carpaccio- I could smell the truffle oil- the flatbread was quite nice- really crispy. His stuffed gnocchi was a treat- I am getting that next time.
Today I was invited by Pamela to have lunch at this restaurant which had grabbed my attention on my last visit to Rosalie but had slipped from my mind.
Arriving not much after opening I'm surprised to see no guests at such a beautiful location with their nice wooden floors and furniture.
The staff promptly greeted me and informed to choose a seat of my liking.
After pondering at the menu for a while the lack of visible vegan options scared me but shortly after I was able to find options which are always welcome such as the polenta fritters and the margherita which are classics that I grew up appreciating.
After a couple of minutes waiting I get my polenta fritters, they look golden and crunchy and are served with a side of tomato sauce instead of the aioli at my request. The polenta is as crunchy as I expected but inside it's still moist and creamy, it's well seasoned but a bit oily. Would rate it a 4 out of 5.
After about 25 minutes of my entree being served, I see my pizza making its way to my table, it looks amazing, simple and appetizing as a margherita should be. On my first bite I'm sold, the crust is the way I like it, thin and crispy but not hard, the sauce on top has a good balance and I only wish there were a little bit more basil to it. Would also rate it a 4 out of 5 since I feel it's a bit too expensive for 22 dollars but it might feel like that because there was no cheese since I'm vegan.
Overall I had a pleasant lunch and enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly manager who made sure everything was according to my needs :).
It's quite easy to find an Italian restaurant that doesn't veer too much from it's traditional roots. But what about one that serves up goji berries with its carpaccio? Or edamame beans with it's pesce?. Are these dishes crazy or ingenious?. To find out, we paid a visit to Il Locale Italian at Rosalie; a restaurant that isn't afraid to take inspiration from all corners of the world.
I came here with a couple of girlfriends, after a recommendation from my partner!Â
For starters I had the crumbled and fried Olives stuffed with pork mince, and the Funghi Pizza as my main.Â
Both the starter and the main were delicious and i looked really good to my friends who loved my choice of venue! They loved their food too, and want to come back again next month to try another pizza!Â
Nic the front of house manager was great, and was always on standby for anything we needed.Â
Looking forward to returning
Ate outside on one of their enormous bar tables on steroids (we were walk ins from the movies at the Blue Room; very close). Not much aspect out there (looking at a BWS). Would be much nicer inside but pleasant nonetheless. The ceiling heater kept us warm. 3 of us had the Risotto; found favour with all. I was a little more adventurous with the wild boar Cinghiale. Wow, very tasty and not as gamey as it sounds but provided that something a bit different to the usual pasta dishes; congratulations chef! Wait staff were attentive and friendly. Will be back.
So after spending the last month eating my way through Asia, getting back to a cooler Brissy what a great way to warm up on a Saturday night than to tuck into some Italian and a few reds !. We landed at II Locale and was warmly welcomed to our table, the place was filled with families and couples and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. After choosing a nice Chianti from the extensive wine list, we settled on the Raviocone braised oxtail ravioli with a chilli jus, and the Gnocchi ripieni with truffle ricotta as our main dishes.
The meals came quickly and was a accompanied by a very small piece of bread roll for each of us. Both the dishes were delicious and perfectly cooked, we both loved our choices. But !, we both were really disappointed with the dish size, we both choose the main size and for my ravioli to be $36 for about 4/5 pieces, I was disappointed. The same goes for the gnocchi at $32.
I don't want this to sway people from visiting, as the pizzas being served looked delicious and other dishes the same, but on comparing to other Italian restaurants we have dined at, we got much better bang for our buck, so to speak !.
Service was very good, decor was nice but tables really close together and got really noisy when full. Calamari was delicious and very fresh and tender, prawn pizza was a bit skimpy on the prawn but really yummy. Lemon curd trifle was amazing! Overall really good food but a bit noisy.
Attended a pasta making course with Il Locale - excellent day, beautiful lunch & terrific advice/guide. Accommodated me as a late arrival, much appreciated. Great options for vegetarians. Highly recommended.
Fantastic local restaurant with great service. Food is delicious and authentic. You must try it. Â I had a crab risotto and it was so creamy. My husband ordered the meatballs and was more than happy. We are Italian so if you can keep Italians happy you know you are doing something correctly.
Il Locale is tucked away behind Rosalie Mews and can be easily missed by one travelling on the road. There are plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot in front of the restaurant. We decided to have my sister's birthday at Il Locale as a treat for our family.
We were warmly greeted by the staff as we arrived and taken to our long "communal" table beautifully set for 12. After chatting over drinks and munching on fresh bread rolls for 30 minutes we were served with pasta parcels stuffed with pecorino, potato & tomatoes and tossed in saffron cream. They were delicious and I downed 2.5 serves as the servings were quite large for some on the table.
The chef then presented us with an Italian style roast suckling pig. It was then I remembered I had forgotten to take photos of the pasta parcels now sitting happily in my tummy. So while my family were hungrily eyeing off the suckling pig, I redeemed myself, picking it up for a photo then lay it on the table for more photos. The chefs then took the suckling pig to the kitchen to cut it up, placing all the meat and crackling on one very large platter. Sautéed cabbage and pancetta roasted potatoes were served as side dishes.
We enjoyed ourselves enormously in this private corner of the restaurant. The wait staff were always close by, polite and attentive. We finished the meal with a beautiful baked vanilla custard. After more drinks the restaurant manager presents the birthday girl with a complimentary Italian Apple birthday cake. This generous gesture and beautiful cake with sparklers alight really surprised the whole table.
Thank you Il Locale for the happy memories!
It's such a pleasure to have a genuine Italian restaurant in your neighbourhood - in this case, run by wonderfully friendly, service-oriented, professional Italians themselves. The service is super friendly and accomodating. The ambience lovely. Food always delicious and authentically Italian. No complaints from me at all. Brisbane could do with at least ten more such genuinely authentic Italian eateries as this one. Il Locale....a wonderful place to dine.
A spur of the moment visit to Il Locale. Despite being slightly discouraged by the high prices, the food was definitely worth it. I had the truffle gnocchi and my partner, the calzone. The pasta (home made) was melt in your mouth and packed full of flavour. The calzone was a large portion - smoky wood fired pizza with ham and mushroom. The Sardinian wine was delicious. We finished the meal with a refreshingly smooth scoop of gelati and the tastiest biscotti I've ever tasted. Service was great, very attentive.
We dined here for lunch as a group to celebrate my Mum's birthday. I booked through the website and received an email saying the restaurant would be in touch to confirm my booking. I never heard back so called myself and they didn't have my booking yet apologised profusely. When we arrived, we were seated at a lovely table yet it was set for too many and furniture had to be moved to accommodate our pram which we said we'd be bringing. I don't think they had our booking but as we were seated quickly, I didn't see this as a problem.
We ordered different meals and all but one came out together. It did follow quite soon after so we didn't have to wait long to begin. The polenta chips were absolutely delicious. Nicely seasoned and super crispy. The eggplant croquettes were also lovely.
For mains the group had the barramundi special with lentils, carrot puree and fried gnocchi; lamb ragu tagliatelle; squid ink and cuttlefish canneloni; risotto special with prawns, zucchini and chilli; beetroot gnocchi with goats cheese and broad beans; and pizza with pork, fennel and ricotta meatballs. All meals were very tasty and beautifully cooked. The canneloni was perhaps a tad too rich and my beetroot gnocchi didn't taste much of beetroot. It was a little under seasoned but the goats cheese was gorgeous. The meatballs on the pizza were fantastic - simple pizza toppings done extremely well.
I told the staff it was my Mum's birthday so when her dessert came out it had a sparkler and 'happy birthday' written in chocolate sauce. A wonderful touch and a lovely surprise for her which was grately appreciated. We had cannolis and affogatos. The affogatos were presented beautifully and the vanilla gelati was excellent. The cannolis were a huge disappointment. The ricotta filling studded with glace fruit tasted very savoury and was quite unpleasant.
Staff were friendly and efficient. No complaints here at all. We all really enjoyed our experience however a few tweaks required for an even better experience.
A quick business lunch. We shared a plate of the best calamari I've had in ages: suberbly cooked in a very light batter, followed with a Moreton Bay Bug risotto. Fantastic! We'll be back.
Received a discount from a family fair earlier and so decided to go check it out this year in July. Beautiful decor, genuine italians i think, free parking if you dine in the area just have to ask for validation card, food was lovely and so was the pear cider. Kids enjoyed the pizza and pasta. Risotto was lovely. Mum's slow cooked lamb shoulder was so amazing we had to take it away as the sauce was seriously that good too. Dessert was nice and light. Food quality definitely of high quality.
Absolutely love eating dinner here! The truffled gnocchi is my absolute favourite and just enough that you aren't overly full - yet extremely satisfied . LOVE IT
The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor, I was a massive fan of the pizza but I love tasty meaty pizza! Definitely give it a try if you're in the area.
Best Coffee & Cannoli. Party of 5 in desperate need of good coffee! We waltzed in to il locale late this afternoon and were greeted with a warm hello by the team in the kitchen.
As we were being seated we asked if we could order desserts and the server said he would go check and when he returned with the dessert menus we were ecstatic.
I am fussy with my cannoli and I have to say I haven't had much success in finding a good authentic cannoli in Brisbane. However, this afternoon I can happily say I have finally found one and they serve it right here at il locale! The cannoli siciliani (sicilian cannoli w glace fruit & pistachio crumble $9/-) will not disappoint ... I promise. Served with 2 on a plate it is very filling but you make room because it is THAT good. One friend had the zuppa piacentina (venetian trifle with zabaglione cream $16/-) and loved it and another friend ordered the flan al cioccolato fondente con gelato al caramello (chocolate fondant w burnt caramel ice cream $16/-) and was also very impressed.
Some may feel the price is extreme but considering the quality of the desserts, the friendly service and the chic and clever decor for a small space ... the price is extremely fair.
Really liked it. The service was prompt, helpful &friendly, the meals (we had gnocchi, risotto and pasta) were delicious and the desserts were fabulous. Will definitely go again.
Like it!!!. I have been twice to dine in and have done 1 take away. The menu is varied and the ingredients are fresh and tasty. Service is great.
The pizzas are the best in the western suburbs without a doubt and the vibe is good. I will be back.
BEAUTIFUL. Have been here a few times and it has been consistently wonderful. Superb authentic Italian food! Will definitely be back.
Love authentic Italian. I am booking a table this week at Il Locale for my birthday dinner with my husband and have just read the reviews. I agree with many of satisfied diners as we have had three fantastic eating experiences there in the past and I have chosen to go back for my birthday. The first time I went there was for lunch with a friend, a well known Brisbane chef and restauranteur, who absolutely loved it and so did I. We were told about how the water charge worked and we were ecstatic about that as the flat rate for as much as you want suited us perfectly for a lunch date. The food was superb, the service was great, staff were very friendly and I love the fact that some of the wait staff are Italian, the owner is Italian, and the chefs are authentic Italian chefs, so I know what I am getting at Il Locale is the same type of food I could expect in Italy. You gotta love that. Thanks Il Locale. You have won us and our stomachs! JJ
Great Service, attentive staff, excellent wine list and the food.....
Awesome...!! From the traditional pizzas to te slow cooked Lamb Shoulder to the Salumi platters... Amazing.
Brilliant wholesome Italian meal!. I loved my meal last night at Il Locale! What a fantastic menu and staff are so friendly and welcoming. We had the lamb shoulder and it was quite easily the most delicious, tasty slow cooked lamb I have had at anywhere. These guys know their hearty Italian classics - the perfect accompaniment was the oozy goodness of soft polenta, perfectly seasoned. I don't know why other reviews are having a go about the water, people forget that water isn't free!! Can't wait to go back for pizza!!
So yummy. Such a yummy yummy dinner. I'm not really sure where other diners have been eating - but it can't be here. I have lived 11+ years in The Village and I have not had a meal like that in my time. We had the olives, calamari and slow roasted lamb. Service wasn't amazing - but this is not a 5 star restaurant so be realistic. Some staff were way better than ithersb- so luck of the draw in that regard. We will definitely be back.
Great dinner. Wow! – those truffle filled gnocchi are like pillows of heaven! I enjoyed a great meal at il locale with friends on Saturday night – share plates are a great idea to taste everything – What a clever idea the sparkling filtered water is – at $3 for an endless supply, that beats paying up to $8.00 for a bottle in other restaurants!
I love this place. I love t.... I love this place.
I love that they work do hard to make every detail count
I love my sparkling water from a filter on tap
I love that the food isn't overly seasoned so I can add to suit my taste
I love that the portions aren't HUGE so I can have little bits of everything and not be worried about the size of my butt!
I love that the pizza are cut at the table if you want it cut
I love that the staff are proud of what they do
I love that it's run by a family who cares
Did I mention I love this place?
nims xx
Comfort at My Table
Il locale is a really lovely restaurant with really nice and tasty italian food. The staff was caring and the atmosphere perfect! The prices are reasonable and you can taste the love in every meal. The food didn't take long at all until we got it. I would recommend going there to 100%. Thanks for a nice evening!
Great food, very tasty and well put together, meatballs, pizza and potato and fish balls all yummy! We'll be back!
Authentic Italian! Admittedly a bit of a pizza snob I had high expectations and il locale did not disappoint!!. We have had take away three times. The pizzas are delicious! service is great too -we ordered to pick up at a specific time and it had been cooked to collect when we had asked so was nice and fresh :) try the potato pizza or the mushroom one!
After having just returned from Italy, this restaurant comes a close second. An authentic Italian menu and experience with Aussie service. Make sure you ask for a seat inside as outside lacks a lot of atmosphere!
Great new Italian option!. I was thoroughly looking forward to the opening of il locale and the experience did not fail to impress! From the moment you walk in you are surrounded by amazing decor with intricate details and very welcoming staff.
I went with friends and we shared a selection of dishes, but the two that won for me were the ravioli and the margarita pizza which were close to perfect. They were well made and presented and have obvious Italian authenticity!
I look forward to going back and trying more dishes especially the deserts!
An overall enjoyable experience and would recommend it to everyone!
Had a great lunch here today. The food was fantastic & the waiter was very knowledgable on matching interesting Italian wines with my meal. Will definitely be back for dinner to work my way through the menu. Great to have some good local Italian. Thanks il locale staff
Good new dining choice Payi.... Good new dining choice
Paying for water & not telling you in a low blow tbh. Had the 12hr lamb shoulder which was cooked very well but did lack flavour. Keen to return for tapas/ pizza & liked the setting.
Great italian. We were so excited when we heard there was an italian restaurant coming back into rosalie. what a transformation from the shell that was there, everything from the lights to the doors is worth checking out. the food is traditional italian with a great selection. great for a group or a cheeky mid week pizza. i couldnt go past the prawn and zucchini pizza and the ricotta and truffle ravioli. cant wait to go back.
I just would not have known where to start cause everything look amazing and surprisingly for italian could be made GF. For entree we had the polenta chips with truffle mayonnaise ($14), which was delightfully crispy and that rich mayo gave it heaps of flavour.
Il Locale had continued on with the tradition and had chorizo on the menu, so it was unsurprising that it was included in my big mash up of breakfast, which included scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomato, bacon and toasted sour dough. The chorizo was a real highlight and was consumed in double time before anything else got a look in. I also really enjoyed the sautéed mushrooms, which were perfectly seasoned and very tasty.
Il locale - new Italian restaurant in Brisbane by Mark and Narelle Tognini opened last week in Rosalie. It offers crispy-base pizzas baked in the wood fired oven, slow cooked meats and of course – pasta. Large selection of Italian wines is also available by glass, carafe and bottle.
In contrast, my breakfast dish, although looking very plain and simple, tasted exquisite with the truffle being the star. The eggs were cooked just perfectly and I loved watching the golden yolk slowly sliding over the poached egg whites and then onto the softly cooked asparagus. YUM!
The breakfast menu has a great variety of offerings that are particularly Italian, including a pannacotta, polenta, saffron white beans with pork and fennel sausage, and a lovely sounding truffled eggs that has shaved pecorino and white truffle oil all over.
Il locale was probably the best pizza and pasta I've had in Brisbane, and I know that's a big call. It was food that really brought Marc and I back to our travels through Italy and the food we had there. The restaurant has a nice environment to dine in; it's dimly lit but not in an annoyingly romantic way. We had a really nice waitress whose accent may or may not have been Italian (I'm terrible with accents).
Fabulous place. The staff were very friendly. It was a really enjoyable time, and the food was superb!
I love Italian food and this restaurant serves delicious Italian food!!!
Pasta is homemade and sauces are delicious, we had a real Carbonara and was flavorsome!! All dishes were tasty from starters to desserts.
The service was great too, friendly and attentive, nothing to complain about it.
We concluded our dinner with some limoncello and porto.
Thank you Locale for this amazing dinner.
I definitely recommend this place.
Unreal Italian dishes. The restaurant owner and staff makes the dining experience very personal and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. For sure have found our favourite Brisbane Italian restaurant.
Absolutely delicious food, ordered the arancini, capricosa pizza and the gnocchi. The waitress gave fantastic wine recommendations and offered tasters to ensure we got the wine we wanted.
