Review My Street Food - Brisbane

Daryl “Dino”
Really enjoyed their crispy pork fried rice, friendly people as well. Reasonably priced but thought the portion was a bit small. The fried rice doesn’t include the big chunks of crispy pork so you’ll have to add that on if you want that. But overall really good, still need to try their banh mi but I’ve just been ordering their fried rice!

Fresh ingredients. Tasty food. Lovely service. Although the wait and line can sometimes be a few moments this place is absolutely worth it and has a fantastic reputation for a reason!! Would drive from anywhere in Brisbane to purchase their rolls!!

$8 Banh Mi- Flame-grilled Pork Patty Roll The bread is really perfect of outside crispy and inside tender. Grilled pork is thick! Crunchy vegg with sour taste and add some chili, awesome. And really love their friendly staff at all

I’m Vietnamese and this is place is legit. 😍 Get the Traditional pork banh mi with the crusty bread and Vietnamese iced coffee combo!! Lovely service too. IG @brisbanefoodbaby for more foodie content. 💫

Crispy pork Bahn mi is AMAZING. Not sure whether it’s is chicken or duck liver pâté but it gives an amazing flavour to the Bahn mi. The bread is crunchy. Crispy pork is everything. And the price is reasonable 👌 💯

I walked into this little gem blind while waiting for my mechanic to service my car. The crispy fried rice was just delicious!! It was not greasy, rice grains were crispy and individually detached from each others. I highly recommend adding chilli. The lunch time queue got longer and longer as I devoured my fried rice. I ended up buying another round for my sister. The staff and the chef were wonderfully friendly. I must return to try their bread roll!! 🤤🤤🤤

Got a traditional and it was good, not great nor awesome. Don’t understand what the “token” 1 piece of coriander was about? Might ask for 3 next time 🤔the pickle was pretty weak also but the rest was ok. Got the right amount of bread “dandruff” upon completion and it was definitely way better than the last one I got from here.

Delicious Vegetarian Banh mi with crispy tofu. Very nice young gentleman at the front counter who helped me with my order.

When you search hard enough, you will eventually find the right place for a delicious banh mi and it is located at My Street Food. One day, after dropping off the Mr in the southside, I made my way there. Parking was horrible as I did not know there was onsite parking. My persistence for parking finally paid off and I am so glad that I came here.

My fave crispy pork roll! You gotta be fast tho this specialty sells out, made fresh each lunch time. The lemongrass and traditional pork rolls are yummy too. The BBQ fried rice is also delicious. Service is super fast if you’re in a hurry. My regular weekly fix!

Today went to a little group of shops to find a hidden gem that sells banh mi. This store has everything vietnamese from banh mi, noodle salads, and rice paper rolls and more.

It was a little quiet this morning considering it was cold, but this going to go and get banh mi.

There are a few tables out front, with bench seating inside. The owners greet you when you enter and they are friendly. After looking at the menu, the lady suggested their best seller which was grilled lemongrass pork. So I got a traditional pork and a lemongrass pork with addition of chilli.

The bread was spot on, with the addition of the normal pickled carrot, cucumber, coriander and a surprising spring onion which added an extra bit. There was plenty of butter which gave it a creamy texture which was great, lightly toasted and chilli, this one sits right next to Scott's road at $6. The lemongrass pork, was just as great, we enjoyed both of these pork rolls.

So if your around woollongabba drop by this place.
Would give this 4.5

LOVE LOVE LOVE - huge fan of their rice paper rolls and their nuoc cham. Banh Mi is great too. Vermicelli salads are a bit small for me though. Ladies behind the counter are so so lovely. Wish they were open on Sundays & evenings ... I would defs make the drive here for lunch on the weekends.

Come here and get lunch with the work team - best rice paper rolls and Banh Mi I’ve had! Very reasonably priced. Staff always lovely and prompt. Highly recommend.

This is exactly what this side of town needed. Fast, fresh and good quality Vietnamese food. Love their crispy fried rice, the rice is cooked perfectly and it has just the right amount of crispness throughout. They do a great Vietnamese style iced coffee and the banh mi came on a fresh bread with lots of fillings. He vermicelli salad with spring rolls is also a favourite.

Amazing Bahn Mi!!! Quick, convenient and super adorable. No complaints here... could it lunch here everyday of the week!!!!!!!! Excited to try more fresh Vietnamese foods from this little gem.

Best vietnamese coffee ever. The fried rice and pho are great here! Awesome service and friendly staff. The little cart-tables are really unique and fun to eat at as well.

The food is always fresh, the service is always spot on and personal - they remember your name, order and preferences. I have eaten there at least once a week for the last year and never had anything but an excellent experience. And, it's great value meaning you don't need a second mortgage to get your fill. Very highly recommended.

Love this little local shop! They are more expensive than Inala, but best Vietnamese I get in town. it saves trip to Inala! The staff are super friendly and food are super fresh.

the Vietnamese pork roll here is not very impressive comparing to other places in town, actually it's too dry both the bread and meat. They keep me waiting for quite long to receive a pretty poor output.
Nathan.olsson
Amazing banh mi, fried rice and rice paper rolls. The pho special is pho-nomenal when they have it available. Anna and Khan are always super friendly and the service is fantastic. Definitely a must for lunch when in Woolloongabba.

An excellent little place for lunch that's well worth finding. The staff have been incredibly friendly every time we've visited. There isn't air-conditioning so it's quite hot and there's always a queue at lunch. The vermicelli bowls are filling and delicious. My partner eats two of the banh mi's because he enjoys them so much. The rice paper rolls are not the best I've had but still worth trying. Definitely recommend visiting here.

Love this place, gorgeous people and always yummy food. Always busy around lunch time so get in before hand so you don't miss out on what you want.

Very busy around lunch time. They screwed up my order and didnt feel bad about charging me the extra $2. Food is not bad if they get it right.

Only looses .5 because this place isn't open Sunday!! This Bahn Me is to die for, meat is juicy, bun fresh and crunchy and the chilli so fresh!!

Brilliant food, always fresh and tasty. The service is excellent and lovely people. One of my favorites in Brisbane and the best Banh mi rolls close to the city.

Great lunch spot
We stopped here for a quick bite to eat and thoroughly enjoyed our crispy fried rice and a vermicelli salad bowl. They were full of fresh ingredients and great flavours. Anna, the owner, was super friendly and helpful. We will be back to try their Bahn Mi.

8 April 2017
We came back here to try the banh mi - and they were fantastic. Fresh crusty baguette spread with pate and mayonnaise, filled with carrot, cucumber, fresh coriander, and your choice of meat and/or chilli. My husband and I shared the crispy pork belly and the fire breath beef (chilli and lemongrass). It was just wonderful!!

Would like to go back again in the future! It was the first time in my life to try the crispy fried rice! We ordered Both the BBQ pork and chicken crispy fried rice. They tasted wonderful 😋 and so does the price. The shop wasn't very big, but their business was good and the staffs were friendly. Everything was pretty good 👍🏿

I can not believe this store is rated by this site as 3.9. Even by my simple calculations it should be 4.7 based on these reviews. Maybe there is something else going on. Anyway......If you are looking for the best and freshest Vietnamese food in Brisbane you can find it here. The Vermicelli salad with lemongrass pork and spring rolls is one of my favourites. The crisp lettuce drizzled with homemade fish sauce blend and a spot of fresh added chilli (on request) is a delight....
Wilcrane
Love this place! Fantastic friendly staff and the food is amazing. The best place for lunch in the area, would certainly recommend to anyone who is looking for a new favorite lunch venue

Always friendly staff & fantastic vietnamese food! Vermicelli Salad with Spicy Lemongrass Chicken is my favourite, delicious and light to eat!
Chris Gilbert
It's ridiculous how cheap the food is here. $10 for lunch. If they doubled their prices I'd still be happy because the food is awesome. My favourite on the menu is the lemongrass chicken crispy fried rice. So awesome!

Bloody terrific!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fried rice is spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be back for more tasty bites.

Love this place with its little Vietnamese cart that functions as a table out the front to represent authentic street style food. Always busy with a line-up out the door so best to ring ahead and order. Have tried nearly everything on the menu and recommend it all!!!!!
Stuart Kenny
Lovely friendly staff and fantastic food. I eat here at least once a week and have done since they opened. I have never had a bad meal and I have tried everything on the menu. It's all beautiful.
Ballerina
A very very nice little place to pick up wonderful Vietnamese food, the baguette's are very nice (not as good as Café O-Mai Annerley whose bread is the very best in Brisbane in fact so good they could became a bakery!)
Whatsnext
tried the traditional bun, and their grilled chicken and pork buns, and i have to say all three were on point. this place does banh mi and does it well. also every second friday they serve pho i believe, which im yet to try.

will report back on the pho.

When it comes to cheap eats ..... This place is gold. Simple menu, fresh ingredients, friendly staff, accessible location, enough said. "Thank you darling."

I love this place for fresh, authentic Vietnamese food. The rice paper rolls are fresh and the Banh mis are tasty. It is always busy at lunch which is a good sign.

Got a couple of Banh Mi to take away with a couple of iced coffees. We had the Classic triple pork and a spicy lemongrass chicken, both were good, would have preferred more heat from some fresh chillis but that's just a personal preference. Plenty of fillings and tasty too.
Iced coffees were nice though not as strong or sweet as expected.
Would definitely return for more tasty great value food.

At the bottom of the new Quest apartments in the backstreet area of Woollongabba, many new things are arising. One of them is a family-owned Vietnamese eatery, which has gone in the course of a year from little upstart to being a bigger blip on the radar as we speak.

This had been one place on my dining buddy's agenda for weeks now, and it was all a case of aligning a time up that would both be suitable and that it would be open (the curse of businesses on Sundays). It had been ever since chancing upon the place when going to the cafe next door. Finally, after much anticipation, and biding time nearby for them to open, it was ripe for sampling and trying this place out. Was it worth it in the end? Short answer, yes. Long answer, read on.

The focus of the menu at My Street Kitchen is, again as I seem to have been running into a lot, simple. The cuisine is Vietnamese, with the angle of it being - as per moniker - street food. This is one time that effective deservedly follows as an adjective. Some items can definitely be eaten on the literal run, but the idea is you can find a place to crouch on the street and eat it there no worries. All of the items are made fresh on site, so you are guaranteed that they pay close attention to quality.

As for interior, it is pretty low key and plain. A long bench is inside for seating, and there are a couple of tables al fresco. For the most part, it is designed as takeaway but it had the atmosphere and character that could welcome a causal eat in. My dining buddy chose an outdoor table, which was shaped like the hawker-style pushcarts - kind of cute actually. Plus, the service is very lovely. It is really efficient, and you will be eating in no time upon ordering.

It is not a huge menu either; there are only about four items to it. From each item, though, there are several varieties. The items are the signature sandwich bahn mi, rice paper rolls, vermicelli salad, and crispy fried rice. In addition to that, every week they have a rotating special which could be anything from a crispy pancake to pho to fish cake; just come in and be surprised. A neat addition, which you can see from the counter, is that they have the menu in Vietnamese to make it easier for them to remember what is what - just say the number and all is good.

There were no surprises, and there was no hesitating with what my dining buddy went for. It is one of his favourite foods, and he likes to constantly find new places with it to compare them. That was none other than a bahn mi. Most people would have their own kind of food or other item in which they are particular about, that certain aspects need to be so et al. This is one he has grown his own thoughts about what it constitutes.

So, he went ahead with his order and got their "Lemongrass Pork Roll". One aspect about bahn mis that we says must be included is a good layer of pate; there was none to be found here - at least not on the variety he ordered. Instead, it had the usual combination of cucumber, coriander, and carrot with a mixture of mayonnaise and peanut sauce. Optional was the addition of chili, which he said yes to. In trying the split it, the service continued to be great where they were able to cut it in half no worries.

It was nothing short of delicious. The bread roll which they used was freshly baked, helping soak in the butter used on the roll. Contrasting with that, and a combination of it and mayonnaise, was a generous helping of the salad items - the carrot, the coriander and the cucumber. They all added a good crunch to them, and the coriander itself made its unique flavour known. Plus, the bite of chili is always welcome when it pops up. Making it go from a great, filling bahn mi to a fantastic, satisfying bahn mi was the presence of having crackling on the pork. That is basically what works with bahn mi in a nutshell - it is rich, it is fresh, it is spicy, it is wholesome, it is filling. It is complex and at the same time, straight forward.

When I went in for my order, my dining buddy pointed out to me what the special then was (or so was thought). It had been one that I had wanted to get into my reviewing list, and that was the classic soup "pho" - complete with several cuts of beef. However, they had sold out - and they were really nice about it, and additionally it reminded them to take the sign down.

That was no worry to me, just go back and order something else. For the sake of getting some diversity into the meal, I went for one of the crispy fried rice dishes. The one that I ordered was with spicy lemongrass chicken. This was served with a side of cucumber and pickles. It was very good as well. The rice had a bit of smokiness to it underneath the crunch, and the chicken was simply juicy, infused with a great combination of lemon and chili. This might have well been the pick of the meals that were ordered.

When it is an option at Vietnamese places, you can bet I will go for the coffee. This is always quite good, especially when gotten with milk as it is condensed and thus sweet. Mix it in with the more bitter taste of coffee, and there is a wonderful contrasting of flavours. At My Street Food, they serve it to you already to go - that is, no watching the coffee slowly dripping onto the layer of milk, shucks! It was shoved full of crushed ice, and was really refreshing.

Also to get on the side, I thought to get an order of rice paper rolls. I went for the pork patty one. All honesty with the flavours and textures here, it was a salad of items wrapped with fresh, good quality minced pork. And it was good. An order of these comes with two of them.

During the course of the meal, my dining buddy went back and got another order of rice paper rolls, this time the lemongrass chicken variety. All that has to be said about it, is what was already said about the other rice paper roll. This one was a bit crispier, had some crunch to it, but for the most part proved it was a tastier, healthier and thus more worthwhile version of the classic spring roll.

By the end of the meal, I was feeling both really full and completely satisfied. It was that preferable kind of full where your stomach is filled to capacity, yet somehow are not bloated. In fact, I was so full that for the rest of the daylight hours, I didn't have anything else to eat - that barely even crossed my mind until evening. So with that in mind, it is another aspect for why they are so good.

My Street Food is absolutely worth going out to find and try their food. It is almost as simple as it gets, with some of the most wholesome and filling food available for a cheaper than average price. If it is to be believed, during the work week, there is a line right out the door with the lunchtime crowd - plenty of office workers in the neighbouring area. Popularity certainly correlates to quality this time around.

For once, what gets the best, most authentic, most special result boils down to a simple, straightforward perspective of what they want to serve. It is fresh, quick and tasty. My Street Food does some of the best Vietnamese available in Brisbane and it is worth trying them already if it hasn't been said so yet.

AWESOME! I visit this place about 2 times a week. Make sure you try the triple pork Bahn Mi. Also, do yourself a favour and add extra meat if and chili.
Rob
I travel around Brisbane suburbs a fair bit sampling many different cafes . My Street Food Vietnamese would be the best tastiest freshest food that I have come across. Can be busy at lunchtime but this is testament to the quality of the food.

We identified this place by the line of office lunchers snaking out of the door and onto the footpath. It sits on the same block of shops as the Quest Woolloongabba, on the busy Logan Road. There are a few other takeaway sandwich places nearby, but this was far and away the most popular. Fortunately for would-be patrons, there is off-street parking available undercover, and free of charge for retail customers. The decor is faux replica country (for want of a better description), with a couple of bench tables outside done up to look like the push-carts used by roadside hawkers, a little wooden awning over the front of the serving counter, and the menu items stuck on boards that resemble street signs. Seating is mostly counter-seat style inside the shop.

Best lunch ever. A couple of months ago I walked past a small little shop with a very minimal decorative style. It was the pre opening week of My Street Food Vietnamese. I stumbled in asking if they were serving the answer was yes, Anna And Khan were testing out the food and service (which is outstanding by the way). So I thought local cafe, vietnamese food be safe order a Banh Mi let that be the benchmark for the quality of the food. One bite was all it took. From the fresh warm crusty soft fluffy bread roll to the fresh tasty filling I was hooked. But wait there was no coffee, except for iced coffee, oh well guess I'll have one of those. Was not disappointed the coffee was sensational, a perfect companion to the exquisite flavour of the Pork roll.

Disclosure time there hasn't been a week go past where I haven't frequented this establishment, its that good.

So on my many visits I have had the opportunity to explore the small but varied menu items. My personal favourite is the number 4, the Lemongrass pork Bahn Mi, ask to add the home made duck pate and chilli, your mouth will be filled with the most amazing taste sensations. Also highly recommend the Crispy fried rice with chicken. You have to taste it for yourself it doesn't look that outstanding but from the first crunchy mouthful you realise you are on a winner. I asked Khan how he made it and replied something about a secret family recipe. Even Anna said she didn't know the recipe. I have taken friends here waited till they took the first bite of the Bahn Mi and watched their eyes light up with surprise. "How could something this cheap taste so good?" would be the best way to put it.
Any way since our first encounter I have watched this cafe grow in popularity and that is good. I have used them to cater for work functions and a birthday party and highly recommend the service that they provide and the food that they supply. This is the start of a beautiful relationship.
PS I love the new seating out the front of the shop, Vietnamese Street Food carts as tables awesome.

Best Banh Mi in Brisbane (and more). My Street Food is a delightful addition to our neighbourhood. Their Banh Mi is as good as any I've ever tried, and I am always in search of a good Vietnamese pork roll. Light, crusty bread and a perfect balance of all the essential ingredients. They have a variety of other options but I can't seem to pass up my favourite.

Banh Mi. The Best in Bris

My Street Food is located in a new building close to the corner of Deshon Street and Logan Road. The café premises are so new it almost sparkles. We saw a few tables on the sidewalk and this pleased me as I was hoping to be able to dine in as opposed to bring takeaway back to the office. There were a few customers already there when we arrived at around 1pm. I initially wanted beef pho but it wasn’t on the menu. After some deliberation, I decided on the crispy fried rice with chicken, thinking that they actually meant fried rice with crispy chicken. I also ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee. I don’t usually have more than one coffee a day but I don’t often come across Vietnamese iced coffee while out and about so took the opportunity at
