Popped in to Nana and Da's for a mid-week lunch and immediately loved the set up. It's a cozy spot with a quirky interior and small but tasty menu.
I chose the garlic, thyme and butter mushrooms with rye bread, spinach, tomatoes and haloumi from the all day breakfast menu and it was absolutely delicious. Packed full of flavour, everything was so fresh and perfectly prepared by a chef who clearly knows flavour. A decent sized meal, I loved every bite and was pleased the haloumi was a generous portion unlike many cafes who skimp on the best part!
Service was a little slow and seemed a tad inexperienced as there weren't many people in the cafe at the time and we were given the wrong bill. A few other minor hiccups not worth dwelling on, so once service is tightened up a little, it's more than worthy of a five star rating as the food is sensational. Great little hidden gem, definitely worth a visit.
Explored this café early this morning. The first step in then I was greeted by a very friendly waitress. Took a seat and my gaze browsed around. Well, it was a nice and neat set-up, the vibe told me that this is a local busy restaurant. When I started to read the menu, I discovered a little piece of paper introducing the special dish of brekkie offering today. I then ordered the market fritters with chorizo. First to come was my flat white. Although I did not notice what type of brew was it made from, the nice blue/white coffee cup and the latte art earned my initial appreciation. First sip made me falling in love with this coffee. Creamy and strong, bingo! Around another five minutes, then the brekkie was on the table. Generous portions of pan-fried fritters sitting on a bed of sour cream with poached egg on the top and accompanied by well prepared chorizo. Loved the fritters which was made of shredded beetroot and some peppers that provided rich hotness from the pepper, sweetness from the beetroot, sourness from the cream and the saltiness from the chorizo. It was a nice invention and definitely could achieve more marks if the poached egg was not overdone. Having said that, overall dining experience was decent.
Went today for lunch with a group of 7 plus an elderly dog. Great friendly service and yummy food, although quite a small menu. Accomodating to offer an adults meal (chocolate pancakes) as two kids meals! I had the salad of the day which had smoked chicken, sweet potato, roasted potato, baby spinach leaves and feta. It was yum! Definitely go back!
How's my other perfect coffee place? Skipped over to Southbank this morning.
Discover the N&D love......and the tea smoked tomatoes!!! See you tomorrow morning!
Another local for me. Always, consistently yummy with a cheerful service. Weekends are packed and it's not hard to see why. The very well priced homebaked goodies is another reason for dropping in!
It's a beautiful cafe, with a very family feel, the relaxing environment and friendly staff make the morning a pleasure. Will truth be told early Sunday morning with a hang over, I'm not at my best. Well my spirits lifted with this great dining experience. The coffee came out swift and was tasty and the food followed suit.
The cafe is very busy. Although the staff and the wait time doesn't reflect this. I can easily see why this is listed as one of the must do Brisbane cafes.
Beautifully decorated (think retro vintage) suburban cafe just off one of the main northern arterials. Definitely very busy, but we were quickly seated without a reservation. Service was pretty decent for the amount of customers they had to serve. Definitely on the pricey side, but well worth a visit - food was delicious!
We really enjoyed our lunch! Friendly service, dog friendly and a great menu! We really enjoyed our meals and they were great sized portions that kept us full for hours. Reasonably priced also
My treat for getting through the week on a Friday morning, and coming to work on a Monday morning is a coffee from Nana & Da's. It's always amazing and the staff are lovely and friendly. I wish I lived closer!
Came in at 11am ish on a Saturday.... so we can enjoy breakfast and lunch menu ...wohooo... more choices. we ordered the pork belly with crispy top n the mussels (from the lunch menu) and also one from the breakfast menu. they are alllllllllll yummy.
plus the fresh juice selections !!!! definitely coming back.
p.s. lunch menu starts at 1030am.
My favourite hidden away breakfast spot that everyone has now discovered. Good coffee and great breakfasts. Try and get a table outside to soak up the Morning sun
I had breakfast here this morning and it was great! I love the kitschy decor and menu choices were great. I was there for well over an hour despite being quite busy and was not rushed at all as I ordered a second coffee. I thoroughly recommend this place and can't wait to return.
Great food and atmosphere. We went to Nana and Das for the Valentine's Day dinner. I was more than impressed, we choose the steak and pork belly platter and it was absolutely delightful, the meat was cooked to perfection and along with the salad and veggies we didn't go hungry, It was very tasty. We have been for breakfast on a couple of occasions and have not been disappointed and it is all reasonably priced. It does get a bit busy but is worth the wait.
Diana. Enjoyed Nana's however it looks like it can get pretty busy so lucky we went for an early breakfast. The avocado with the zucchini is a refreshing change. All the food is high quality & fresh. Coffee was served in a small cup & should have had a lot more strength than what it did, however it was still a really good pour with smooth flavour. Pooches are welcome to join you on the footpath & they have their own water bowl provided
Really sweet!. Ive been here twice before - once for a girls breakfast (15 of us) and secondly for a brunch date - both times we had the most lovely waitresses, and I was very happy with the mushroom breakfast (ordered it again) and my coffee was quite good. Cant comment on the time it took to receive our order (most people are saying it took forever) but i guess I didn't notice - must have been the great company :)
It seems a shame some people haven't left positive comments, as I've had a wonderful experience both times! ill be back, thank you! :)
Decent cafe good coffee. Fresh food, good service, great vibe and pretty reasonable prices. I would come back again.
So pretty. Probably the prettiest cafe in Brisbane! The coffee is lovely, and I love that they use the Maleny dairy milk. The eggs are fantastic, nice orange yolks.
Love it. So simple, good music playing and nice staff. Food has always been nice and quick to get to you. Parking is a pain but other than that, really lovely. My new favourite breakfast spot!
Lovely!. We came here on a sunday morning when it was very busy and we were greeted warmly by the staff all of whom we're lovely and apologetic for the wait, which was totally fine as its expected to be very busy on sundays. We ordered the avo on sourdough with a side of haloumi and the ham hock with a soy cap and a surprise juice. The serving size was very generous but i must admit, the avo on sourdough was a bit dry, so it would have been nice to have eaten it with maybe a sauce or something to moisten it up. the juice was delicious and the coffee was really great as well! Overall, a nice experience, definitely some of the best service i've experiences and the food wasn't bad.
Fantastic!. Great tea options, delicious food, attentive and helpful staff - a really nice place!
Just found this new gem on my morning walk (and it's right around the corner!). Came back for lunch which was lovely. Great prices, delicious intimate menu and yummy fresh juices. Will definitely now be our new breakfast spot.
Such a cute place with helpful, kind staff. The coffee is great and the food tasty. The only issue I had was the menu. It is very limited and I felt that if there were a few more options, maybe like sandwiches or burgers, it would be that little bit better.
Breakfast at Nana & Da's has a 'bit' to go before becoming a favourite. A very cute and much needed cafe on the northside, a friend and I decided to try it today after reading good reviews. The menu is qute small and basic and my friend decided to order fried eggs and bacon and I went with scrambled eggs and bacon. The fried eggs arrived sunnyside up( no choice was given), which was fine but part of the white was uncooked which is offputting and was scraped to one side. The bacon was ok and the dish is served with a piece if sourdough and a small knob of butter. My scrambled eggs were not light fluffy and creamy as they should be but rather sludgy and tasteless, also served with bacon and sourdough. Don't get me wrong, the coffe was good, the staff were friendly and the setting is adorable but theg need to get their basis right to ensure longevity albeit I hear the pancakes ard great! This cute little place is desperately needed on the northside and I shall be returning
Lovely little cafe although it's new it's already my favourite place. The staff are lovely I only wish they had more space as it can get very busy too the point where there are people waiting for a table! I can't say enough good things about this new, bright and beautiful cafe.
Wow!. This place is amazing. Our pancakes and mushrooms, haloumi on toast were amazing and so was the waitress that just started a week ago. Witty, funny and entertaining. Got to love delicious food and great service, can't wait to come back!
Greeted immediately by a friendly face on arrival so we were happy to wait for a table. We ordered the mushrooms which were outstanding! Fantastic fresh food and service with a smile. Will definitely return!
One of the best breakfasts I've had, fresh ingredients, brilliantly run by the owner in a very boutique modern cafe, a definite recommend for breakfast and lunch!
The coffee was delicious. I couldn’t work out what beans they used but whatever it was, was used with skill.
This place is so great, especially if you have a furry friend! We went this morning for the first time and loved it. I had a mocha with their house made chocolate syrup inside - delicious! My partner and I had the hash benedict, and the potato hash was some of the nicest I've ever had. Great balance of flavours and very filling. The staff who attended to our table were very kind and courteous, and even gave our little dogs a puppucino too free of charge! We definitely went early this morning around 8AM and it was quiet, so we had a lot of space to ourselves. Would go again!
Been here once a long time ago and had another chance to come back today. This time we sat down and had coffee and brownie.
I loved the brownie, it was well heated up, which was surprisingly delicious. It was so gooey and rich but not overwhelming. It was like a lava cake, once we cut into it, the middle just started pouring out. One of the best brownies we have had.
Service was brilliant. The staff member who served us was very attentive and professional. It was a great experience. Will come back again in the future.
Such a cute little cafe in the neighbourhood with a lovely interior. It's not too crowded and gives cosy vibes. Warm, friendly service and a delicious brunch.
An adorable Cafe with delicious food, and very friendly and attentive staff. The Banana oat pancakes were absolutely yummy and the Hash Benedict-Mozzarella stuffed hash cakes are a must, you won't regret it!
Went there for a late breakfast/brunch, as the reviews and photos seemed overall positive.
The staff was friendly and helpful and we were seated on the side of the building. Not the most inspiring spot, yet it was fresh (key factor in summer..) and quiet, so excellent for a nice conversation.
We started with a banana smoothie (nice, but a bit too liquid, IMHO) and frappé with home-made caramel syrup, tasty and not too sweet, so initially not noticeable in the drink (we had to ask for it separately). We then ordered our mains that arrived pretty quickly. My banana oat pancake was abundant and satisfying. Definitely recommended if you are after a good feed after a workout, a bit less if you want a little treat. The hash benedict was an alternative interpretation of two brekky classics and was a bit heavy, but tasty and satisfying.
All in all, many lights and a few shades, mostly relative to the drinks. We will probably be back when in the area.
Reallyyyy good coffee. Very consistent too. Never had a bad cup from here. The fresh baked muffins available most mornings are amazing too.
Had lunch here once too and it was just as good. Friendly staff. One of my favourite spots right now. Keep up the amazing work guys ♡
Highly recommended on every level. Extremely tidy but retro feel to this tucked away cafe. Located on a suburban street in Kedron it brings with it a small but perfected menu. The service was welcoming and professional. The avo on toast was generous serving and tasty. The real winner was the breakfast gnocchi . Absolutely one of the best gnocchi dishes I have ever tried. Looking forward to going back
It's so rare to walk away from a place feeling so satisfied. Food was excellent, utterly excellent. Well worth the price. Big portions as well. Top notch chips. Quick and efficient order to table time and really wonderful and friendly service. Do yourself a favour and go here.
