Popped in to Nana and Da's for a mid-week lunch and immediately loved the set up. It's a cozy spot with a quirky interior and small but tasty menu.
I chose the garlic, thyme and butter mushrooms with rye bread, spinach, tomatoes and haloumi from the all day breakfast menu and it was absolutely delicious. Packed full of flavour, everything was so fresh and perfectly prepared by a chef who clearly knows flavour. A decent sized meal, I loved every bite and was pleased the haloumi was a generous portion unlike many cafes who skimp on the best part!
Service was a little slow and seemed a tad inexperienced as there weren't many people in the cafe at the time and we were given the wrong bill. A few other minor hiccups not worth dwelling on, so once service is tightened up a little, it's more than worthy of a five star rating as the food is sensational. Great little hidden gem, definitely worth a visit.
Explored this café early this morning. The first step in then I was greeted by a very friendly waitress. Took a seat and my gaze browsed around. Well, it was a nice and neat set-up, the vibe told me that this is a local busy restaurant. When I started to read the menu, I discovered a little piece of paper introducing the special dish of brekkie offering today. I then ordered the market fritters with chorizo. First to come was my flat white. Although I did not notice what type of brew was it made from, the nice blue/white coffee cup and the latte art earned my initial appreciation. First sip made me falling in love with this coffee. Creamy and strong, bingo! Around another five minutes, then the brekkie was on the table. Generous portions of pan-fried fritters sitting on a bed of sour cream with poached egg on the top and accompanied by well prepared chorizo. Loved the fritters which was made of shredded beetroot and some peppers that provided rich hotness from the pepper, sweetness from the beetroot, sourness from the cream and the saltiness from the chorizo. It was a nice invention and definitely could achieve more marks if the poached egg was not overdone. Having said that, overall dining experience was decent.
Went today for lunch with a group of 7 plus an elderly dog. Great friendly service and yummy food, although quite a small menu. Accomodating to offer an adults meal (chocolate pancakes) as two kids meals! I had the salad of the day which had smoked chicken, sweet potato, roasted potato, baby spinach leaves and feta. It was yum! Definitely go back!
