I came here for a Saturday breakfast and ordered the “pier eggs with bacon, pork sausage, mushroom, pepperonata, roasted tomato and sourdough” for $25. The portion size was very good and the food was very vibrant with a lot of different colours and a variety of flavours. The only thing I did not like was that the sourdough bread was placed underneath everything so it became very soggy and tasted sour from the oil of the peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes so I would have preferred it to be put separately on the side. The atmosphere was very beautiful with a lovely view of the river. I was provided tap water and there wasn’t a lot of people yet the waitress was not paying attention and did not top off my water or gave a jug of water on the table for us to help ourselves. Otherwise, it was overall a good experience with the food and environment of this restaurant.

Great little find! We've been living locally for almost 3 years and this is the first time we tried Malt Pier. Very happy with the attentive and professional service with smiles. We ordered Malt Pier Monster for sharing and it came in 2 separate plates! We appreciated the effort and thoughtfulness of the staff. They kept refilling water too. Nothing was too much for them.
Amazing view to the river is a bonus!

Wonderful food and service! The smoked salmon was some of the finest quality I have had in Brisbane. The coffee was delicious and it was all served with a smile!

Lovely secluded spot on the river with impeccable service provided by our little Colombian dynamos.
Had the meatballs for entree and have to say they were the best meatballs I have ever tasted
Had the duck for main also very nicely cooked though would have liked the skin a bit crispier and the fat rendered more
The Barman made me my fav espresso martini and did a fantastic job even though not listed in the cocktail list
Will def be back ( would love to try breakfast)

Great food and service - went with the elderly parents and there was something for everyone. Small but open and fresh. Beautiful indoor/outdoor dining is especially enjoyable on a lovely day. Close to the river and in a great precinct.

Simply wonderful!!  I'm not sure why this restaurant has only got 3.4 out of 5 as the average rating, from my perspective it was 5 stars for food, 5 stars for excellent service, 5 stars for value for money and 5 stars for the ambiance.  Friends and I met for a Sunday lunch there last weekend and we all raved about it.  The food was outstanding and large in portion size which all of us enjoyed and the service from our Japanese (I think, please forgive me if wrong) gentleman waiter was right on point (thank you!).  This is a place I will continue to recommend and will definitely be going back...and back...and back to :-)  Please stay the same!!!

Had Mother's day lunch at this restaurant last Sunday. It was a three-courses set lunch with complimentary drinks. As usual, it is expected to be full house on that day but surprisingly foods came in really quick. Services are friendly and proficient. Amuse bouche of Tomato Tea is a good invention, which is so refreshing and kick-start my appetite ready for the coming courses. Chef showed case his culinary skills on every single dish in terms of plating, taste and aroma. Hero of the day is the Shoulder & Loin Sous Vide, where the chef nailed to differentiate the subtle difference in textures between shoulder and loin and both of them were done perfectly juicy particularly matching with the cider gel. Dessert of Mango Lime Brulee also contributed to the success of this excellent lunch set. Overall experience deserves a thumb-up and wish the management all the best and be consistent with their production.

I would say that my partner and I are almost regulars here on a Saturday or Sunday morning for coffee and breakfast/brunch. We keep going back for the constantly great food and coffee, friendly service and lovely location - all for a very fair price. It's one of our 'go-to' places when we have visitors in town.

A small group of us recently enjoyed lunch at Malt Pier, and I was kicking myself for not having enjoyed the lunch menu with a glass of sparkling wine earlier!

A really great spot and worth a visit!

Popped in late one weekend a while back and had a very enjoyable time relaxing over lunch in this great riverside position. Food was up to the excellent standard of their city venue. There were a few minor fumbles with the service but these were of no consequence when handled with friendly humour and a great personable attitude. The location is a little hard to find, but one only has this problem on a first visit, and I look forward to more to come.

Went here for a birthday lunch with three other people. Service was lovely and prompt. The food was a bit hit and miss and definitely not as good as their sister restaurant Malt Dining - even though their prices are pretty much on par. I felt like I was paying for the view. I would return, but I won't be rushing back any time soon.

Husband and I went to Malt Pier for a Saturday morning breakfast. When we arrived we were seated straight away even though it was quite busy. The atmosphere, design and location of the restaurant are lovely. I had the avocado on toast with two poached eggs. It was the best avo on toast I've had in ages! The rye was nicely toasted, there was a heap of avocado and feta and just enough lemon olive oil and dukkah to give some tang. Husband had the savoury mince with bacon which he was very happy with. The mince was not as heavy and stodgy as some others he has had in the past. We will definitely be going back.

For starters I will say the coffee here is good. Nice & smooth with strength & well poured. We actually managed to score a seat as we didn't have a booking for breakfast & they even accommodated the pooch for us close by. The charming waitress was so helpful. We really enjoyed our breakfast, I had the corn fritters & the partner had an omelet. Everything was spot on & I understand there was wagu beef in the fluffy thinly rolled omelet. Loved the fritters which came with a fruity spicy chutney & haloumi. Big bonus was the waterfront view

Having visited Malt in the CBD a few times we were keen to try this offshoot which isn’t too far from home. We hadn’t booked but arrived before the lunchtime rush. It’s actually a pretty small space, but is nicely done out and an impressive set-up. We both had lunch and a dessert, both were excellent, the staff were helpful and the service good. After our meal we had a few drinks (including some good cocktails) at the bar.

Recommended and will definitely return.

Nice. Went here for lunch the food was great the service impeccable, great atmosphere on the water a hidden gem. The only downfall is the wine list need more variety of wine's too limited, only one of each wine if they extended their wine list and invested in wine fridge it would be perfect. I find that a lot of places don't realize that Brisbane has a very hot climate which spoils red wine or it's served warm not nice.

Located on ground level Wharf Park, in a relatively new office precinct, is a small modern Australian restaurant/cafe. Offset by the Brisbane River, this place was the perfect choice for our business lunch. The service was excellent, with both of our waiters friendly, polite and professional. The menu is excellent. Small (probably because it’s lunch), but versatile enough to satisfy all. I would have loved some starter/entree selections on the menu, but the staff assisted by converting one of the existing dishes. Lunch dishes were between $18 & $30. The food was bang on! Great range of flavours and tastes. The drinks menu was also well rounded and, everyone got what they were looking for. The only downer was the difficulty in finding a park, but I would imagine this will become easier as the building nearby are brought to completion. I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a quiet spot for lunch that is close by the city and valley, but not right in there.

Friendly staff. Dogs are allowed if you are seated at the outside tables. It gets cold there but thankfully they have blankets. Be sure to dress warm especially if there is a breeze. Coffee is excellent. The potato waffle eggs Benedict was delicious. I'd definitely go back.

The view and the atmosphere just as good as the food. You can see how much love the chef put on the dishes as they decorate your breakfast.

Recently moved into Newstead and regularly pass by usually calling for a takeaway coffee. This week we’d booked a table for brunch as we had our 2 year old granddaughter staying for the weekend. So 2 1/2 plus our small terrier. The staff were fantastic looking after us in the busy restaurant, nothing too much trouble. We had a selection of juice, coffee, tea, meals, extra plate, etc etc. The food was really very tasty, staff helpful after I’d messed up the order. Great location by the river, nice and quiet.

Cute cafe near the waters edge serving all day breakfasts, lunch and licensed. We stopped here to grab a lunch while the sun was still out. Enjoyed a beer and wine with our grilled barramundi and southern fried chicken burger. Both were good portions, good perfectly and tasty. The fish was well seasoned and the chicken was juicy and tender. It get busy for breakfast but worth coming back to check the rest of the menu out. Puppy friendly.
