Review Jimmy's On The Mall - Brisbane

Yodaman Solo
Some reviews here are pretty low for this establishment in the Queen Street Mall strip. I didn’t partake in any food but I very much enjoyed the mocha coffee. It’s quite the upper section they have too with a convenient bar to serve you. The location is superb and it’s a great spot to take a break from your shopping escapades. 👍😎

Pros: - Ambience - Food Presentation - I would highly recommend the chicken wings, arancini and falafel burger. Cons: - The place is not very well equipped to cool down for the summer or handle the monsoon. - The Lamb curry: Lamb was dry, and rice portion was wayyyyy too small. Come on guys, rice barely costs anything for you. Increase the amount please, bcos at the end i was left with soooo much curry and no rice. I really liked the curry though. This place is perfect for Spring and Winter time. Nice place to hang out with friends… its a little pricey but I understand its in the heart of the city.

Came here for breakfast. Ordered Avacado on toast with ham and a drink. Nice place in the hustle bustle of the main street. Fresh air and lot of natural light The food arrived in a good time. The eggs were poached very well. Just the way I like it. The portion was big and filling. Will try this place again.

$20 for overcooked “soft poached eggs” on smashed avocado and over toasted hard bread with a side of dead bug 😂 The iced coffee was bland and tasted like milk - which cost $7.50 My mistake. I wish I went to McDonald’s even they make a better coffee 😅👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽 Wasn’t given table water but looked around at people who arrived after me and received some without asking for it - I asked for it and I ate and was done and still didn’t have water. Wish I asked for a refund as that was definitely over priced for what it was. Absolute rubbish - but can’t go wrong with their cocktails 🤣

A wonderful place to eat and socialise. The staff are professional & courteous and the food is fantastic. We had Arancini Balls, Pad Thai and Nasi Goreng and could not fault any of the food whatsoever. A lovely place to relax & listen to good music.

Sitting at the bar waiting for my drinks. Watching them sit there for at least 10 minutes, I think their getting flat? Just watched one staff member spill a spirit on her arm and then lick it off, awesome. Now they are all checking out a spoon. The 5 staff behind tbar managed to dance together for 5 minutes. At least we got a show, that’s some consolation for flat beer.

Best breakfast I ever had. Well cooked, perfect toast and delight textures, well combined with the correct temperature. The staff was great, care and kind. Service was very quick even though was bit busy. Im so impressed by the amount of tables in place compared to the size of the kitchen, the chefs must be a bunch of well trained soldiers ready for a big blast of hungry customers. My congrats to everyone here, the site its an exceptional option to go anytime.

We asked for water, waitress was extremely disinterested and only brought 2 glasses even though there were 3 of us. The cooked breakfasts were cold. Fried tomato was so cold I’m sure it was pre done and added to plate straight from fridge. The food was nice but cooked breakfasts are expected to have some warmth. Muesli was served without cutlery and was an effort when we requested. Worse though, we had to ask multiple times for our coffees. These eventually came out some time after we had finished our meals. No teaspoons. No sugar. We requested and 1 spoon to share was brought out and 1 sugar each. I would only give 1 star to service and quality. The extra extra is for the fact that the was edible and you could tell it would have been beautiful if it had an once of heat to it. If you don’t mind bad service, cold food and lengthy delays, this is the place for you

Avoid at all costs. Downstairs restaurant staff was incredibly racist and sexist tonight to my girlfriend, going against the Australian values of inclusion and multiculturalism that form part of the backbone of what Australia should represent. Management should do a thorough review of its hiring and review practices
ELE
The downstairs restaurant manager is sexist, racist and rude. He judges people by looks and race. If you are Asian, you will likely to experience racist in this restaurant. It is hard to believe that racist still happens nowadays in Brisbane and it is happening right in the middle of the Brisbane city!<br/>饭店经理歧视亚洲人!歧视女性!希望朋友们不要来这家吃饭,否则会像我和我的朋友们一样无缘无故地被歧视!

I ordered the breaky plate and the looks and taste of it doesn’t match the price. Too pricy for the quality of the food, unfortunately. 😢

I ordered the grilled Moreton Bay bugs with prawns and calamari. It came with a garlic cream sauce, chips and salad. Delicious! My friend had the vegetables, tofu and rice which she said was very good. For dessert we had tiramisu and chocolate mouse cake. Everything was delicious. The service was ok, staff need to be more friendly and professional.

Great vibes, lively place and easy location.<br/>Went there for few drinks and nibbles. Staff was amazing and welcoming.<br/>A perfect place to be on a sunny day or when you are tired after shopping.<br/>Very close to public transport.<br/>Thanks for good time :)<br/>Cheers

Have been here a few times and usually the food is tasty, delivered fast and the coffee is great. Today.... really disappointed, staff were dismissive, service was slow, staff who were obviously ex-pats struggled to understand what we ordered so much so that we had our breakfast delivered and one person didn’t get theirs. Our two kids were served their breakfast last (thought it’d be a best practice to serve kids first?). When we advised the staff that one breakfast was missing nobody even communicated that it’d been missed from the docket until we followed up a second time. Following that we also added another two coffees to our order and they were also forgotten about. Jimmys needs to get back to basics and get the service aspect right again, as the food was still good quality but front of house has diminished significantly.

We headed upstairs here but unfortunately wish we went elsewhere. We ordered at the bar but due to a mix up only one of our meals came and my partner waited 30 mins for his meal that only got picked up once we pointed out we were still waiting and I’d almost finished mine. They then cleared my stuff while my partner was waiting and he felt rushed. Was a tense brunch as a result and he didn’t finish. No apology for lateness either. Food was also average for price. Staff seemed well intentioned but weren’t capable of basic jobs or service, or understanding of English.

The prawn pizza was amazing and tangy-spicy...staff were friendly and d helpful.<br/>Will def come here again

Been to this places several times! Loving the live music here, first time trying the seafood menu. The pizza tastes good!

I had ordered syrup in my coffee and there was none added into my coffee. Also, it took 20 minutes to make two coffees and a couple sitting nearby me was complaining about the same poor service when they were discussing privately.  Both people working on the upper floor, the Canadian female expat and the Australian-Indian worker in their 20's were both rude, unprofessional and unattentive.  They both ignored my politeness when I thanked them when ordering the coffee and when they took away the cup they ignored my comments when I was being polite to them. In terms of the coffee itself, the most vile and disgsuting coffee I can remember drinking in the last 10 years. Do not go there.  Overpriced, approximately 13 dollars for two normal size glasses of coffee which they said were large.

Great smiles people. The restaurant is very clean and nice to seat and having food or drink with family or friend and watch sports. Thank you.
Arnaud Michelin
I was greated with a smile by a nice waitress.<br/>I ordered the salmon. It was very well cooked, with crispy skin. The Asian salad it came with was decent although not too chilly, which I liked.<br/>It is a bit in the pricy side, but i overall, I enjoyed it.

Couldn’t even eat the beef checks, shocking taste way too rich and seemed it had been in the pot for a week stewing. Waitress could not care and didn’t even ask if I wanted something to replace it. $36 for nothing is purely unacceptable. Won’t be going back. Thumbs down on this restaurant.
Denise Santy
The food is great. We ordered the crispy chicken and the pad thai. The pad thai lack taste. The crispy chicken is perfect. The place is great.

Really disappointed in this place I work in the city as a chef.it was Friday night after we finished work me and a few of my work mates wanted to have a beer after a big week at work.we got there at 10:30 at night order a beer then went to get other one.we were told our table was to intoxicat after one beer, even the bar guy that served us couldn’t believe it,he even apologised and said there was nothing he could do.there were so many tables that people we so drunk and was still getting served.what a joke this place is will never go back.when people ask us in our restaurant we they can go for a drink after they have dinner we have always recommend this place not any more<br/>

Please spread this everywhere if you are tired of Restaurants treating you rudely.<br/><br/>Went into the City 01st of December 2018 for the Christmas parade and decided to have a Pizza and drink at Jimmy's to watch the Parade (Time 18:01).<br/><br/>Ordered one of their Pizza's and the guy who dropped it off was very polite and attentive.<br/><br/>The Pizza came out very quick and we were both excited to enjoy the Christmas parade, Pizza and drink. We ate 1 1/2 slices and realised under the crust fold that its was a bit doughy and uncooked. It wasn't a major problem for us but didn't want to get sick from raw dough.<br/><br/>I took my Pizza board back to the server and asked would he mind if we can just have it cooked a little longer. The server was great and said no problem, 'let me fix that up for you.<br/><br/>A couple of minutes later the server came back to the table and informed the Pizza was cooked to the "Chefs" liking and that's how it should be. The server informed, as we had started eating the Pizza that the "Chef" will not put it back in the oven. I was shocked that they couldn't cook it a bit longer for us and he informed us 'that's how it is'. The server said he would refund the Pizza if we would like. I agreed with this as I was not going to eat raw dough.<br/><br/>A couple of minutes later the "Supervisor" came past and asked what was <br/><br/>wrong with the Pizza. I informed it was doughy and uncooked under the crust and wanted it cooked a little more. The "Supervisor" advised the "Chef" is Italian and that is how every Pizza is cooked. I stressed the point the Pizza is uncooked and just wanted it cooked all the way through.<br/><br/>The "Supervisor" then informed he will not refund the Pizza and bad luck if you don't like how the "Italian Chef" cooks his Pizza. I was absolutely amazed and gob smacked that I was spoken to in this way and made to feel like a insignificant patron, that had no idea of how a Pizza should be cooked.<br/><br/>On the way out I took the supervisor over to the Pizza sitting on the kitchen pass and showed him the uncooked dough under the Crust. The argument continued and continued to inform, that is how it should be cooked as the "Chef" is Italian. I stressed the point that the uncooked dough can make people sick and all I wanted was for it to be cooked a little longer.<br/><br/>At this stage the "Italian Pizza Chef" chimed in informing, I did not know what I am talking about and this is how you cook a Pizza. At this stage I was shocked and appalled that I am having a conversation in a middle of a restaurant for a Pizza to be cooked longer! Shouldn't the customer be able to have their Pizza cooked longer if desired? If the chef likes his Pizza cooked doughy then that is fine, but as a customer, don't I deserve to eat it in a way that wont make me "Sick".<br/><br/>I tried to show the "Italian Chef" the doughy bits under the crust and he continued to argue with me how rude it is to touch the Pizza like that and I know nothing about how a Pizza should be cooked?<br/><br/>Well at this stage I had the fire of a Dragon boiling inside as I calmly tried to ask what was wrong with cooking it a little longer? The insolence from the "Italian Chef" and "Supervisor" was overbearing and I decided to walk away with no Pizza and no Refund for my uncooked, doughy $25 Pizza.<br/><br/>I truly urge everyone who reads this post, to post this on their Facebook page and instruct the public of Brisbane, that we have had enough of this rude and below standard of behavior and its time to Restaurants grow up and look after your customers.

Mediocre.... Staff were terribly untrained (downstairs) upstairs were super nice but maybe because it’s not table service upstairs... the live music is too close... I don’t know what can be done about that though.... food was okay. Wasn’t really expecting much from this place good to show tourist friends!
Huiwenli1996
wait so long for the food to come especially there aren’t many people. So disappointed. Will not come next time! ! ! ! ! ! ! Size of food is small as wellllllllll

Jimmy’s is a great place to meet friends for a casual meal (you order your drinks & meals at the bar). Their starters (arancini balls) & salads (lemongrass beef) are fantastic and they have a huge drinks menu. It’s not air conditioned upstairs, but there is usually a nice breeze to keep you cool.
Ed
The only good thing that this place has is its location because the staff was unprofessional and incompetent and the food pretty normal.<br/><br/>Don’t recommend this place to anyone.
Global Foodie & Filmy
Good place for a late desert or drink. Very untrained staff as waiters... Did not even know a desert in their desert bar. Food nothing special. Place is nice in the middle of the mall... Pity about the food and service
Verena
Found an ant in the cocktail after 2 or 3 sips, but the manager seemed to find excuses without any "sorry". Yes it might be ants drop or fly into the drink as he said, but the attitude of the manager showed no responsibility at all. After some excuses they finally remade the drink but made me, as a customer, feel that I am the wrong one because it's not a big deal and I'm just making trouble.

Dropped by after dinner for coffee and cake and I’m glad we did. The apple crumble was amazing and the chocolate cake moist and smooth. Will be back!

Came here as a surprise for my birthday and had the chicken katso burger. It was delicious! Wasn’t expecting that. This place has really got it going on in terms of view. I’ll be keen to pop back

Went in for breakfast, when eventually served food was not what was expected. Half a tomato tossed on a plate with a wedge cut to remove the stem should not be served. Bacon was barely cooked with white fat from it having cooled down on the plate. Sent this back and was then served a very dry scrambled egg. Not good enough.

I’m pretty disappointed with everything about my experience here this morning. $19 for a tiny eggs Benedict. The wait was so long I nearly considered asking for a refund. When my tiny new arrived, when I went to tuck in my knife was still covered in the previous customers sauce and had servette stuck to it. Had to get up and ask for another. The knife was so blunt it cramped my hands to cut through the toast. Only to open one dry over cooked egg and one runny egg on one piece of toast. <br/>I didn’t have time to ask for another and just ate it, left hungry.

I had dinner at Jimmy’s today. I ordered 400gr of rump steak and a large glass of sav blanc. Costed me around $53. Food was alright, nothing to complain. However, portion is something that I should highlight here as it was massive! Haha thanks so much for the beautiful dinner. They have 2 sections: dining table service and the bar area. I was at the bar area as i found it was quicker in compared to. See you next time on my other visit to Brisbane! It was amazing.

Not too sure what to make of this place.. it’s certainly the best place to be in the Brisbane CBD if you want to people watch, and the food is good, but today I was a little disappointed with the staff. They must work hard, and be subject to a lot of difficult customers, but a smile is free. Service makes a difference. The staff were initially not very attentive, serving other customers before I did. I did try and get their attention but didn’t do it well enough. I really wished the staff looked around and took notice of who had been waiting. The lady that served must have been towards the end of her shift, she was very abrupt when explaining the establishment takes no risk for nut allergens, and that nuts are used and cooked in the one kitchen. It’s ok, we have lived with the nut allergy for over thirty years and are happy to accept the risk, please it OK. None the less it was a nice place, maybe please look into how satisfied your staff are. I notice it, and others may do too.

Dined here on Saturday night and ordered a cheesy garlic bread for entree and the chargrilled bugs with chips and Turkish salad for main to share. The cheesy garlic bread was mediocre, the bread hadn’t been toasted for long enough and tasted quite bland. The char grilled bugs was served with 3 bugs, king prawns, calamari, chips and a Turkish salad with a creamy garlic sauce. The dish ($52) was quite large for 1 person but not quite enough for 2 people. Overall the atmosphere is nice and the prices of the dishes reflect more the atmosphere and location. Overall we were satisfied with the meals as they were tasty but not great value for money.

The bartender with the snapback was extremely rude, it felt like he didn’t want to be there. Didn’t want to stay and ask for another drink..

I had an absolutely gorgeous breakfast here. This cafe is right in the middle of the mall as the name suggests, and I expect it to be ripped off and be served mediocre food. The menu had an Asian twist and I was really surprised at the quality that they served up. I would recommend Jimmy’s for a snack between shopping.
Courtney Brown
The staff member taking care of our table went home before the meal came out and the rest of the staff seemed too busy talking to one another instead of attending to customers. It took more than 5 mins to ask for more table water.
Jasmin Lyons
Such a great place!! Have been here heaps of times and never disappoints. Highly recommend coming here for a great variety of food that everyone can enjoy. Had their pad thai and it is the best pad thai I have ever tasted.
Michael Ball
Great food with a few new menu items. Beef salad was very tasty and just the right size...my son had the lamb burger who said was fantastic. Staff were very attentive and kept an eye on us asking if needed anything else.

Ideal location and friendly services from Jimmy’s albeit slow. Order the chicken sandwich which was presented well and tasted good too. The chips peobably could have been slightly more tasty however. Food did take quite a while to arrive, which was the case for all around. I was pretty disappointed with the drinks ordered, my ‘hugo’ cocktail felt like I paid $19 for soda <br/>water:( Excellent location however.
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
Nice looking cafe located in the middle of Queen Street mall, distinguished by climbing greenery. The coffee is their own roast and I found the takeaway cappuccino on the bitter side.
Virelya.com
I love their greens decor in front of the restaurant.. came here for having brunch with whole family and they love it!! All the food was great.. the coffee was ok. I had to pay extra $1 for Soy Capp 😌The expensive one ever!!!

What can I say? Went to the toilet no toilet paper in any of the cubicles. Staff are rude. The love music singer positioned right next to smelly toilets and no one can hear him, which he was very good but definitely treated like a second class citizen by the restaurant. <br/>Food was average hence their rating.
MJG
Ate here at the last minute. Doorman was wonderful in greeting us, but from there it went downhill. Lady who sat us was pleasant enough, but rest of waitstaff were there just to complete a mission. Food was highly disappointing given the price tag (you can get much nicer $37 steaks in Brisbane) and every meal on our table was served with the same cookie cutter accompaniments - chips and salad. The setting (the middle of Queen St mall) and the decor is nice enough but doesn’t compensate for the price of a poorly constructed meal served with apathetic staff.
Quesarahsarah
Went here for an early breakfast before a day of CBD shopping. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, Eggs and Haloumi and Spanish Eggs.<br/><br/>The Spanish Eggs were nicely cooked, however the bread was not toasted and the side salad of rocket seemed more of an afterthought. The Eggs and Haloumi was simple, however the haloumi had a rubbery texture. The Eggs Benedict was average, with the hollandaise sauce being a bit too salty for my liking.<br/><br/>Service was average - it's a sit-where-you-like and order-at-the-counter kind of place, and table service was really only to bring out the meals. The ambience was casual, being smack-bang in the centre of Queen St Mall. Prices were pricey (approximately $20 per breakfast dish) for the quality of the meal and service.<br/><br/>Overall, an average but solid early sit-down breakfast option if you want sustenance before a day's shopping in the city.<br/>
Bogart Phillips
Overpriced for the meagre bland tasting food you get here topped off with average service. They try to mask it with a somewhat presentable dish but you will be disappointed from the first bite.<br/><br/>You are basically paying for the atmosphere of the mall which is vibrant. Is it worth it though? The atmosphere is but price and quality of food definitely not.
Beachgirl1
Convenient in the Queen st mall- but noisy and crowded. Staff were relatively quick and very friendly. Coffee was good, however the breakfast was a little over- priced for what was on the plate. Not bad in a pinch but so many other places in brisbane cbd that are far better.
Brandon Do
Service is not to a high enough standard as for what you would expect at the price you are paying. Food is definitely tasty however can take unreasonably long to prepare for simple dishes.
Rebecca Ng
The food is fine, and the service is pleasant. <br/><br/>However, I am quite disappointed in the servings of the food. It has nothing special and the plates were small and expensive. Coffee was very bitter. <br/><br/>I wished that something on Burnett lane was open. <br/>This place is for when it is a Sunday and every other nice place is closed. 'Tis pleasant enough but it is simply too expensive for what you get <br/>

New in Brisbane and having no idea where to go to eat except check out google! I don't want to consult Zomato on this just to be on neutral grounds because I'd like to write about it on my terms! So Jimmy's, I was surprise it was not busy despite me being there on a weekend. Anyways just got to tickle those taste buds plus I am running low on energy after my flight etc. Went for the Barramundi and I did like it. Great presentation but otherwise no surprises and ooohs and aaahs for my crazy palate. I love the ambiance though considering that its open walls and on the center of a mall walk area. I would not want to be there when its crazy shopping day though! So is it great experience? I'd say I've had better and people can form their own opinion. Bit pricey for my wallet too. I guess things would have been better if I was there with my husband, daughter or at least a friend. Would I go back, perhaps...

Dont miss out this place if ur at Adelaide street of Brisbane qld . <br/>The place is surrounded by good crowd and road shows happening. <br/>Quite entertaining place.<br/><br/>I ordered Liitle Creatures pale ale - Dark and nice in taste . <br/>Cheesy Garlic bread - Made perfectly with nice amount of stuffed chesse. <br/>Service wise could improve little bit. <br/>food came on time. <br/>over all a great time spent . <br/>Will surely come again and again<br/>cheers<br/>

The place locates in just a perfect place - the middle of the shopping street in CBD, so it is easy to find. It is lucky that we could have a table in the upper deck, which is half-outdoor and suitable during such warm winter in Brisbane. <br/><br/>I quite like the sundae that I ordered, which is served in a surprising style. The combination of cream, ice-cream and fruits tasted nice, but just super sweet. You may like it if you are a dessert girl like me. It is big plate so remember to share it between two or more people. <br/><br/>They advertised their bar menu and live music a lot, so maybe can take a try if you are interested.

A Friday evening catch up with two friends. We head up to top level and grab a table so we can look out over the Mall. A glass of semillion each while we check the menu. We order proseco and food at the bar. Fries , arancini with porcini, calamari... food was brought to our table quickly. Meals were tasty and delicious with our Friday night drinks. Pizzas and mains on offer including steaks, noodles, swordfish etc.

nice setting, stopped for coffee, ordered small capp arrived luke warm flat white with chocolate sprinkle, learly unchtime meals were served and did not look appetizing ... expected more considering the prices.

A quick post-work drink with my sister turned into a spontaneous dinner catch up last week. We settled on Jimmy's as it's central, easy to find, and the rooftop terrace is lovely in the evenings. <br/><br/>We found ourselves a table and a large glass of house Sauvignon Blanc each ($21 for 2 during happy hour) then set about deciding what food we wanted to share. Sister chose the Caprese pizza ($24) with olives because who doesn't love olives?!<br/><br/>I'll admit that when I saw "sliced tomato" on the menu I assumed it would be nice caramelised slices of Roma tomato, not what appeared to be your garden variety salad tomato neatly placed on top of the pizza. While I do enjoy a good salad tomato, I believe they don't quite carry the hearty tomato flavour that I anticipate in a good pizza. While we're on the topic of tomatoes - where was the pizza sauce? Maybe I've just come to expect this ingredient on pizza, but it definitely helps add flavour and eliminate the impression that you're eating a slice of cardboard.<br/><br/>Personally I found the base to be a bit tough and chewy, and the cooking was also slightly uneven. This all unfortunately contributed to the uneasy feeling of cardboard consumption. <br/><br/>On a positive note, the base was thin with a good sized crust. There was plenty of delicious melted cheese and an irresistible aroma from the dried oregano. The balsamic was a lovely sweet note that helped to cut through the saltiness of the prosciutto and olives.<br/><br/>The olives were delicious and still retained their pits. I know keeping the pits in helps to preserve flavour, but I find it difficult to eat unpitted olives on pizza. Both of us had to pick the olives off and eat them individually - awkward, but manageable.<br/><br/>In terms of service, Jimmy's rooftop is counter service for ordering food and drinks. The waitress who brought our food was very polite and friendly, however the bartender was quite abrupt when we ordered our wine. I also had to clear empty glasses from our table, despite it being a reasonably quiet mid-week night. Price wise, I felt everything to be a little overpriced for what we received. <br/><br/>The concept of Jimmy's rooftop is a good one - open air, greenery, live music. The live music was great but too loud. We were sitting at the opposite end of the rooftop to the musician and were struggling to hear each other. Overall verdict - plenty of room for improvement.

Nice spot..good vibe for a sunny weekday. <br/>Moroccan chicken sandwich with chips. Turkish bread ✔ sandwich nice but nothing special. Good chips and aoili. Partner had the lasagna.. nice but serving could be bigger.<br/>Probably wouldn't to again... typical middle of shopping strip eatery.

I popped into the city for a spot of Saturday retail therapy. I decided to visit here to have breakfast. I ordered Eggs Benny with Smoked Salmon and a pot of English Breakfast Tea with Soy Milk. I asked the wait staff if I could alter my order at all, as I wasn't overly hungry and know that I'm not usually able to eat a whole big breakfast like this. The answer was a flat no, which was disappointing. I wasn't asking for a price reduction, simply that I could get one egg instead of two to save on food wastage. <br/><br/>Anyway, the pot of tea arrived and it was fine and I was able to get two cups out of it, which for $5 is okay value. My breakfast arrived after a short delay. That said, it is a nice spot to sit and watch the world go by. Once it arrived my breakfast looked appetising enough. I have to say though, that the food wasn't overly hot. However, the eggs were cooked to perfect, nice and soft and runny. The smoked salmon was very generous is portion size and the toast though too crusty for my liking was fine. The meal cost $20. It's hard to be too critical about the price, as I know this is a busy city restaurant. I'm usually more of a budget breakfast eater, as I'm relatively small eater and usually only go for a simple poached eggs on toast without any extras.

Great food taste too much quantity very big main dishe which enough for 2ppl lovely staff the only one thing I dislike was the seat chair which was not comfortable and too crowded with narrow passage in between.. but still recommend

Jad the crispy skin chicken. Was delicious perfectly cooked not dry, lots of yummy sauce. Friend had pad Thai which was also amazing. Good service. Great atmosphere, singer was the best we've seen. We will be back

We got a table on the rooftop and it was such a nice atmosphere and beautiful decor. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered 2 sizes of wine. I ordered a steak from the lower level menu and it was no problems. Cooked a perfect medium with the most delicious mushroom gravy. I thoroughly enjoyed the night.

Been here on Christmas Day for early breakfast with three other people. <br/> We ordered pancakes, eggs bene and eggs with avocado on toast. <br/><br/>The food was amazing and very fulfilling. Pancakes came with fresh berries that balanced out the sweetness of the syrup. The eggs bene was massive with smoked salmon. <br/><br/>Service was great as we were the first customer. Nothing to fault :)

Is there a better location for lunch/early dinner in Brisbane's  cbd shopping district. On a hot summers day you can sit on the top deck, have an ice cold beer from a very good selection and some food, watch the 'world go by' and the breeze coming down Queens St is beautiful.  It's a very busy place as you'd expect with this location and having been a few times recently I've noticed an improvement in the food from when it was first re-opened. At the end of the day it's very good for what it is and while there a few bad reviews on this thread for the actual food, I've always really enjoyed what I've had so I cant really fault it....

The breakfast in this restaurant is fantastic!<br/><br/>I like their sourdough toast with smashed avocado, they taste fresh. Thus, the hot chocolate was quite good with some milk froth on top. The staff members were friendly and the speed of food delivery was really fast.<br/><br/>I actually tried their restaurant during nighttime, but the food was not satisfying. Although the view of the Queens St Mall was quite nice, but it did not cove the flaw of the food quality and lack of food choice.<br/><br/>Therefore, I recommend to visit this restaurant during breakfast time instead of nighttime. Also, just to prepare that the restaurant is actually a bit expensive than usual may be because of its location.

Absolute disgrace of a place. Specifically asked for a gluten free slice of orange and almond cake and the waitress served non gluten free chocolate sauce all over without letting me know. Went up and told them and the young foreign waitress clearly does not have any customer skills as I was immediately spoken to in a very rude manner . Will never come here again. Have never been treated like this anywhere else.

Quick late night snack of calamari and potato skins. Bit oily and tasteless. No table service. Only option at 11pm. Not worth a special trip.

shit service <br/>I just bought a cup of soy cap and I waited like 15 mins<br/>And they didn't know what I was waiting for???<br/>They wasted my time and they r so rude, they didn't even say thanks or sorry for waiting for me? Never ever come here again<br/><br/>and I just had the coffee, it was fking hot... it burned my tongue.... what can I say now? I will tell all my Aussie or Asian fds whoever I know never ever come to this restaurant again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice spot for a bite and drink after shopping. The Arancini truffle balls had some good flavour to them. They came with a homemade pesto and had just the right amount of truffle not to overpower the whole dish. Their rose was crisp and dry. Really enjoyed it.

Jimmy's on the Mall is a great venue for a sneaky beer or morning coffee.  The setting is pretty amazing, with a fresh, modern feel.  The food however is average.  The menu range is nothing special and the service is okay.
Ben Law
Reasonable food, quick service on a quiet Sunday night.<br/><br/>Ordered the bugs and seafood. Acceptably cooked bugs with a few slightly over, delicious prawns and tender squid. Sauce was not bad and quite sticky. <br/><br/>Worth a visit if late at night in Brisbane.<br/>
Miammiam
Strange place. They claim to be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 24 hours (on their website) however, I was there quite late one night and after ordering some food and sitting down, I saw the staff turning others away as they were 'closed'. They don't serve alcohol after a certain time of night either, although that would probably be due to new lockout laws (?). <br/><br/>Fine if they are not open 24/7 - just don't advertise to be if you're not.

Awesome location, facade and ambience were great with live music nearby. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the food. I had the local buffalo mozzarella (V) salad and had to add prosciutto as it carried very few ingredients. It was very simple to say the least. While there was nothing in particular wrong with the salad. I was charged $32 for this. Looks great, but pricing was a little silly. $8 extra for a few pieces of prosciutto. Give us a break! Just add a little more value to the meal or drop the prices. Won't be returning here otherwise.

always a busy place. the pumpkin 3 cheeses lasagne is honestly so filling, delicious and overall the best lasagne you'll ever taste! only disappointment is how you always have to order a main meal :/
Katrina Salmon
Walked passed this place and decided the food looked fantastic. So we got a table. Although the food looked and smelt amazing it was rather disappointing. Food came out near cold and the toast was like bricks and no I'm not talking about my gluten free bread. The sourdough bread was hard if not harder then the gf one. Coffee was bitter and horrible. <br/><br/>Note to kitchen staff. Yes your floor staff are busy. But it is highly unnecessary to ring the bell 3 times every 5 seconds. Can't say I would recommend.

Jimmy's is a must go when you're in the CBD.. Basically, it's the only double story restaurant in the middle of the city when you walk around. Don't overestimate its food prices or underestimate its quality. Maybe that shows how much I enjoy it here making me coming back again, but this time, we brought my parents' friend from overseas here to dine...
Hannah Nixon
I have been here a few times now. It's good but not great. The downstairs seating is comfortable enough. I was pleased with our food. The flavour was all there but value for money isn't a massive feature. Although the city ambience is worth it. I love sitting upstairs and people watching. It's a great place to grab a drink and catch up with friends.
Coke Zero
Service with a snarl.<br/><br/>Location is great though, so I'll return and ignore the surly staff.<br/><br/>Drink prices were typical of an Australian city.
Shane Warren
Live music, cold beer and amazing pizza, what more could you want?! Fresh, full of flavour and a good size if you want to share, which i didn't. Get your own! This is too good to share.<br/>Give it a shot yourself and find out. If you don't like it tell the bar staff.
Lammer
Bad! Bad service, bad attitude, bad food! I think the only thing makes it busy is the good location!<br/>I went there for breakfast and ordered a juice from their "fresh juice" menu and my actually asked b4 ordering is it really fresh ! The waiter said its squeezed downstairs! When it came it tasted like a bottled juice! I went to another waiter and asked why do you lie to people. She answered rudely. I didn't tell you anything!! I don't know why they don't take these stuff seriously! What if some people have allergies!!

I would have never expected I'd ever go to Jimmy's but by default, it was convenient. I was very surprised, I had the tasting plate and the salt and pepper calamari and it was very good.<br/><br/>It has a decent selection of beers on tap and the service is fast and friendly. Here's the catch, while I know city rents are expensive, the prices are completely outrageous. That is why I can only give it a 3 but otherwise, the food was solid, tasty and well done.
Dion Sant
Food was cooked to perfection and atmosphere was great! Staff friendly and the food represents excellent value for money. <br/><br/>Will definitely return! 24x7 makes it very convenient as well!!!
Michelle
Yet again the food was amazing however if you've come for service you will probably only notice that only 1/10 waitress staff are polite towards you. <br/>We weren't even greeted upon arrival, she walked straight past and said just hold on. And when asking about seating we were told we could only sit at one table when there were so many vacant tables. Only two waitresses had astonishing service one was Yulia or something and the other I couldn't remember her name. <br/>I will not be returning purely due to the poor service I received.
Molly Elizabeth
I've only been here twice around the same time and I have loved it. Good location, friendly staff, and fun atmosphere. The food was nice and the proportion size is great. V into it

Looked forward to enjoy a dinner with good view after Uni, waitress at the door requested to show her our ID, accepted our Uni ID with DOB clearly displayed proving we are indeed 18+. She allowed us to go to the upper floor to dine, but when we went to order food at the bar, another waitress denied our order because we did not have appropriate government ID. We were then asked to go downstairs to dine. When we were about to leave, the same waitress from the bar came to us and talked very harshly to us. It was not our fault in the first place. Your people let us in and we did not force her to do so. Not even an apology. We left the place because who would still have the mood to dine downstairs when we have already settled ourselves upstairs with view. Very bad customer service.
Ben
Conveniently located for dinner at the end of the Uni day on the way home. Meal portions seemed very generous all around our table. Top level was nice to get above the busy crowds of Queen Street.
Wynni Jones
Jimmy's is obviously overrated because of the good location, but the food is not worth the price and the waitstaff are incredibly rude. One time I was with my younger sister and wanted to get a coffee in the morning and they wouldn't let us sit down because she didn't have her ID(?) even though she was clearly a child and was with family at brunch hour. It was bizarre.
Brendan
This place is always packed with people so it looked like a great place to have some brunch. We were seated however by the waiter amongst the tables where they move dirty dishes to. There was one either side of us and it wasn't really that busy so we were unsure as to why we were sat there while the waiters kept putting dirty plates next to us. The meal was its saving grace. It was very nice. I would go back there provided I didn't get seated there again.
MynameisFood.
Jimmy's has always been one of the go to places whenever you're unsure of where to go to eat or drink in the city, you just somehow end up here. Remember that the lower deck and the upper deck both have their own menus so they may differ in terms of what dishes are on offer. Some of the dishes however are offered on both decks. There are more seatings downstairs than upstairs but if you would like to have a view of the centre of Queen St Mall, then I'd suggest you sit upstairs. There are both normal and high tables available, as well as tables around the bar area. As it was late afternoon when we arrived, we just wanted somewhere to rest our feet and maybe have a drink and a nibble..
WAYz
Food was very nicely presented and cooked. Went on a Friday night when it was a full house, the service was up to par for the night and so was the food.
Eatingtheweekaway
Every Brisbane local and possibly tourist is familiar with or at least 'sight familiar'--Jimmy's On the Mall. You can't miss it-- it's smack bang in the middle of Queen St Mall and since it's renovations (rumoured $5mil plus) it's turned from few outdoor chairs and tables to this behemoth of vertical gardens, marble benches, modern copper lighting and waiters in stripes.<br/>Classy upgrade--but how's the food? Don't know about other locals but I always thought it would be a) expensive, b) poor quality and c) marketed at tourists.<br/>While the food may be sub par-- there's definitely a plus to the atmosphere eating semi al fresco in the middle of the mall. Tourist trap? Maybe, for those willing to pay the price.
Jacinthe Jiang
Good weather to seat upstairs in the morning. Nice views with waffles. Btw, the fresh orange juice is not Fresh. Maybe try here at night next time:)
Lance Birch
First off let me say i am absolutely gutted they have changed the sizzling satay chicken since they re-did the place. It was expensive but amazing, and now the satay chicken is nice but nowhere near what it used to be. <br/><br/>Overall Jimmies is very expensive for what you get, but you are paying for location. The service is generally pretty good, and the wait times for meals are reasonable. The quality of the food is nice, but very expensive for what is essentially just nicely dressed up cafe food. Only complaint apart from the price is that the tables are packed together far too tightly which can impact your dining experience.
Erin
Good place for a cold beer and a meal for a barmy night in Brisbane. Went for the pad Thai. All in all pretty good. Ironically, in presenting it so nicely, all the ingredients didn't infuse with one another. The tastiest pad Thai needn't look pretty - just bind it all together! Meal was provided quickly, good live music, and good spot for people watching in central Brisbane.
Envyfood
I decided to try out jimmy because I wanted to be able to sit down before work. Whilst they were busy they had plenty of tables available. Initially one girl told me I could sit wherever I liked. So I did. Then two minutes later another made me move. Coffee was quick to come but it was awful. Crap coffee!
YumsAndNoms
I went to Jimmy's with a group of five friends after we found Brew was closed.  We were there for cocktails and food when we discovered Brew was closed, so intended to spend a fair amount with them.  They were busy, with only two tables remaining, both with "reserved for groups of 7 or more" signs on them.  Arrogant staff tried to turn us away, then compromising to the point of saying "if you can't find anywhere else to sit, I suppose you can sit there".  Most of the group went to the bar, while two of us sat at the table only to be accosted by another staff member demanding to know "how many are in your group"?  We told him five and he demanded to know where the others were.  <br/><br/>Terrible service, lackluster food and drinks at high prices.  I would recommend anyone stay clear of Jimmy's.  If Brew is closed, as a few other reviewers who have settled for Jimmy's have mentioned, go anywhere but.
Chantelle Hiley
I went to Jimmy's on the mall for a Sunday breakfast after seeing that Brew was closed. I ordered a fresh orange juice and the houloumi eggs. The food tasted nice but they were so skimpy of the smashed avocado and the price was a very steep $20. Don't think I would come back because of the pricing point.
VegeLover
Lovely staff with beautiful smiles<br/>Absolutely stunning place and awesome atmosphere!<br/>Thanks for the drinks and ill be sure to be back soon :)

My partner and I went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We couldn't really fault the food as it was quite good. I suspect the poached eggs are prepared earlier and warmed up as required for breakfast orders but they could have been a bit hotter when served as Eggs Benedict. <br/>As other have said, the service is lacking. Front of house and wait staff seem absent minded... When they serve a table their food, they should notice when there isn't any cutlery. There were 5 tables including ours that received food without cutlery. Even if it's not their particular job to set the table, staff should notice it, fix it and bring their place of business' standard up. <br/>Won't be back until the restaurant's rating is higher.
Kingston Neo
Jimmy's is definitely only catching unsuspecting customers due to it's location, anyone who's actually eaten here before would know better. The service is non existent & ordering process painful - you can't find a Menu to even start. The meals are slow to come out & they really lacked taste. It was very disappointing.
Marjan
My first experience wasn't good enough to give a high rate! I ordered fish and chips and that was one of the worst one I ever had for sure. It costs me $28. So disappointed! It comes with salad, chips and sauce. Actually salad was good. Restaurant has a great atmosphere with polite waitress. Be careful about chairs! Not so stable!!!
Francisca Madeira
Went to Jimmy's with very low expectations as the ratings and reviews weren't great about it. Went with a few colleagues on a sunny friday afternoon for lunch. We sat upstairs, chatting and watching people pass by Queen's street. We had the pulled pork roll, a burguer, pad thai and a pizza. Everything was delicious!!! It's just annoying to have to order at the bar, but the staff were friendly and the food actually came faster than we expected.
Luna
Food is good. Seafood of the day tasted interesting and beef was wonderful. Service was critical. Waitress ignored us even if they were not busy.
Mocanu M
Staff friendly and the order was taken accordingly, i got "Pad Thai" and sparkling water ...my order was brought very fast and the food was hot and very big . I got a bit scared from what reviews they got , but i think they can regain trust from their customers if they keep it up.

Wow what a renovation! From being 13 coming here to now in my 30's it was great to see a Brisbane institution still in business. Staff were a bit dusty as we had a pram and clearly couldn't get through the crowd but if you have a pram book the front table on entering. The upstairs area is great for a few drinks - music is fairly loud and the cocktails are great. I had a pulled beef roll and hubby had the burger - huge portions and really fresh and tasty. All the staff seemed to be foreign though and English lacked on a few but we loved the casual QLD Vibe here. Good place to see still in business!
Nathaniel James
I can't comment on the food itself as I didn't want to spend my morning in such an unfriendly and difficult restaurant.<br/>Like Veracious Waitress said the FOH service is rude and cold, after waiting to be seated, the host, without a word, indicated upstairs, he then left us. We found our own seat, and after waiting for 10 minutes on service or any acknowledgement we retrieved the menus ourselves along with a jug of water for the table. The previously mentioned rude FOH staff member soon came over and confiscated that jug. <br/>As we ordered breakfast we were told the wait on food was 35 minutes. I was not willing to wait that long in an unwelcoming environment.
Rub-a-Dub Grub
I don't mind getting along to Jimmy's for some cheeky din dins and an even cheekier beverage, especially after work or before the real night begins. They've stepped up their game food-wise over the past couple of months, and overall I think they do a pretty decent job in terms of service, considering the bevvy of casual drinkers constantly coming and going to the most central establishment in the Queen Street Mall. I always enjoy the rib eye served with chips and veggies, and the bar staff are very friendly.

0/10 for Food!!! Hair In My Breakfast.<br/>I had Eggs Benedict with Salmon 29/7/15 looking forward to it as I normally eat here for breakfast and lunch with colleagues. When I showed a waitress the long hair in the middle of my dried overcooked egg she went to see management and I was told they would just deduct $5 off the bill.... Is that right, really. Excuse used was I got to eat one of the two eggs and if it were her she would of just pulled the hair out and continued eating... <br/>Carefully look through your food before eating here. Won't be back
Me And My Belly
Great spot in the middle of the mall. Lovely open and clean venue with an interesting breakfast menu, its not going to blow the world apart in innovation but was beautifully executed and delicious. Had the crab cake breakfast with lovely 'golf ball' soft poached eggs. Also wonderful to see they are disability access friendly too! $20 for a tasty and filling quality breakfast with friendly service you can't be disappointed.

food was nice however service was terrible. staff were so rude and not willing to help out. location is nice however not worth the price with the service.
Fiona Vanwaveren-Wilshire
The food is terrible. I went for breakfast on Sunday and ordered the eggs and toast. The eggs had no seasoning and was the worst eggs I have ever had. I never send back food but it was inedible. We also got the food before coffee. Stay away. O out of 10.
Nathan Paterson
If I could give it a 0 i would. Stay away. The manager is the rudest person I've ever delt with in my life. Food is way over priced and very very poor quality. Save your money and never go here, avoid at all cost.
Rory_ayla
i would give it a -5 if i could. <br/><br/>i receive better customer service than this overly-priced-too-much-hype junk. my friend asked for a drink on the menu and the waitress gave an attitude about it. what is going on? i did not pay over $50 to feel like an inconvenience for coming in and making employees work .<br/><br/>beware of female employee with brown/black hair, south american accent, olive skintone. <br/>she should be fired

Looks good, doesn't deliver. Have been wanting to try Jimmy's since the renovation. Great for a drink and some nibbles, but the restaurant certainly wasn't impressive. The menu looks exiting and I had high expectations cause it's a little on the pricey side, but the meals were pretty average and on the small side. Had the Brisket and the fish of the day which was salmon. Small piece of Brisket was about 50% fat so only got about 3 mouthfuls of meat and the vegetables that it came with were cold, like refrigerator cold. The food also arrived far too quickly for it to have been cooked to order. The flavours were good, but it was just a bit of an underwhelming meal. Salmon was wayyyy overcooked and didn't come with any sort of sauce. Considering the mains are in the $35 range I expected more. Stick to beers and bowls of chips

Went for breakfast with friends this morning and couldn't fault a thing. The coffee, food and service was fantastic. I had read the previous comments and wasn't keen on the place but was pleasantly surprised

Don't head here if you're in hurry... The staff aren't very attentive to waiting customers. Food was nice but would have been a lot nicer if it were hotter

Breakfast times. Advertise 7~11 but rufused ordering at 10.30 even though it wasnt busy. Never heard this ploicy before so maybe it's me but they lost my business.

Rude staff, stay away.. We went to Jimmy's tonight (25th April) and sat down on the upper deck. We are interstate visitors and were very disapointed with the rude service the bar staff awarded us. We approched the bar and were shocked to find that other patrons were continuously served before us even though they came after us. A staff member sat down in front of us at the bar and still refused to aknowledge us. We left after waiting humiliatingly long without being served. It was as though we were invisible. Avoid this place. The staff are rude.

Recommend not visiting. The main points of failure for this place are: <br/><br/>-the time it takes to deliver food to your table <br/>-meals being delivered at different times<br/>-no sense of urgency with service<br/>-there is very little value for money<br/><br/>All off these points take into consideration that this venue is in a high traffic area, however this is a factor the management should be aware of to ensure they give customers an outstanding experience.
Tillie
Cold food/poor customer service. 30 minute wait to receive cold bacon and eggs and drinks that did not match the order. Pricey food that did not a match the quaily of service or food. Skip this place if you can.
Jessica Hewish
Bad food. Far too expressive and too coasty
Aldridgetodd
Waited 45 minutes to find they forgot my meal. Was very disappointed with my overall service. Went in for lunch and a beer and was excited to see pulled pork on the menu. Prices would have been ok if i every got my meal. After paying and been given a number for my order, i waited 45 minutes only to find my order had not been sent through to the kitchen. I ended up getting a refund and leaving, short 45 minutes of my life. One of the wait staff also knocked a stool onto my leg and didn't apologize. I'm not usually one to write bad reviews, but if as an establishment you charge above average and want to maintain a certain image, make it consistent with your service. There are plenty of other places around the CBD. I don't think i will be returning anytime soon, well not if i'm hungry that is.

Beautiful restaurant, average food, high prices. We went to Jimmy's after walking past it everyday (since it's renovation) and seeing how absolutely amazing it looked. While the restaurant is amazing (in the way that it looks), our experience was pretty average. The menu wasn't too extensive so I went for the classic fish and chips and my friend went for the Estiva pizza. My dish was $27 and all I got was a small salad, a admittedly decent handful of chips and then a small piece of fish. The fish was VERY oily & there was so much batter on it (can be seen in the photo I have uploaded). For $27, I could've got a better fish meal from some of the cafes in the mall. Drinks were an average price. <br/>I have been back to Jimmy's more recently to give their breakfast menu a try. This was a much better experience. Meals were very large, delicious and fresh. Would probably return but only for breakfast as other meals are a rip off for what you get.

Delicious Saturday Night Dinner. Really lovely pizza menu and decor. It was a really nice atmosphere with the live music!

10/10. Had dinner on the 8th of March with two girlfriends. Could not fault anything about this Restaurant, except for the 3 legged chairs (because I'm clumsy haha). The meals were the best I have ever tasted. The dessert was to die for! The service was great and the atmosphere was just as good. I love that there is a wide selection of food and will definitely be back to try something different.

Well Jimmy's in the mall has to be the worst place I've been for a very long time, $24 for a frozen Coles pizza that took over an hour to produce. Well done guys.
Iwishiwasaladyofleisure
Worst service. We came here for breakfast on nyd and thought we had hit the jackpot as there was hardly any one there. We were wrong. We ordered 2 drinks and 2 breakfast and informed the staff member we would sit upstairs. Got given a "fresh" juice (hot tip it's not fresh squeezed the brand name is fresh) and were told the iced latte would be delivered to the table promptly, after a 25 minute wait with no food and no drink I went down to find out what was going on I was told "oh we sent that to the wrong table" and I had to then prompt to have a drink made, upon enquiring about our food I was told the kitchen had gotten really busy and now there was a 15 minute wait on food to which I replied it had now been over 30 minutes since ordering and we had to get back to our hotel to checkout. Another 5 minutes passed and the staff member returned to tell me there had been some kind of glitch and our ordered didn't actually get processed and in 15 minutes we could have our food. As we had to check out in 20 minutes we asked if we could have our food in 35 minutes so we could get our bags and check out, apparently this was a ridiculous request as it caused quite a discussion amongst staff I was then sighed at and told I guess that's ok. After all this fuss I then asked could we have fresh drinks with our breakfast to which the response was "well you can just buy new drinks when you get back" my face obviously spoke volumes because the next words out of her mouth were "well I can't replace drinks that have been drunken". Needless to say I immediately asked for a refund and left. Hands down the most disgusting place I have ever been. Will never return
LoveToEat
Disappointing. My partner and I were excited to try this place out - from the outside it looks so open with a great atmosphere, however it was a very different story inside. The waitress took us to our seats upstairs, which were uncomfortably close to the table next to us, with no view of the city below whatsoever! <br/><br/>We ordered a pizza to share and a couple of drinks. When the waitress brought the drinks out, she spilled a lot of cider on our table, and made no effort to clean it up, or even apologise for the spill. After about forty-five minutes our pizza finally arrived, however we weren't given napkins, cutlery, or plates! We tried to eat the pizza with our hands instead, but it was covered in so much oil and grease that it was actually too sloppy to pick up. We asked the waitress for plates, cutlery and napkins, and she came back with plates only. My partner got out of his seat, walked over to the kitchen, and got us the cutlery and napkins himself. The service was absolutely appalling. <br/><br/>Later as I was standing in line for the one female toilet they have (uni-sex) a staff member came in with rolls of toilet paper. She knocked on the toilet door to ask if the man inside needed the rolls, to which he yelled no. She then turned to me and asked me to take the toilet rolls into the toilet when he came out... to CHANGE THEM MYSELF! WTF?<br/><br/>The service was SO slow, rude, and very disappointing. From the outside it looks like an open and relaxing atmosphere, but inside I felt cramped, boxed in, and anything but relaxed. We paid top dollar for a crummy pizza, spilled drinks, and to help the staff do their jobs. Absolutely terrible.

I remembered this place was quite alright... Say... 16-17yrs ago. Sorry, not anymore and I guess everyone has explained it very clearly why as I don't have to repeat it myself. Please change ur chefs and place ur heart back into the business.

Excellent. I enjoyed the food, the ambiente, very friendly staff, waitresses were excellent. Will definitively be back

Slow Food. Went to Jimmy's on a Saturday arvo. Ordered drinks and two meals. Lasagna and Beef Burger. Lasagna was quality and good serving and brought out in a timely manner. Beef burger was good but took almost 30 mins to be brought out. Asked staff about the meal while waiting and got the usual 'it is on its way.' No effort and seems like poor communication between front of house and kitchen. The burger was good but sides needed to be bigger. Food over priced for the quality. Will not return any times soon.

Coming up to 7th visit & still returning. Have been to the 'new' Jimmy's about 6 times since re-opening for various Christmas catch-ups etc over the busy festive period, the place was packed every time, each time we were greeted & shown a seat within a few minutes. I've eaten twice, first time for nibbles, no complaints on quality, quickness, taste or presentation - just had to chase down a staff member to find out where I might get some cutlery from & was given directions to go find them myself - which was interesting. 2nd time was for dinner, smack bang in the middle of the Queen St Mall Christmas Parade, I was given a table to sit at whilst waiting for a table upstairs to be cleared & set & promptly shown upstairs, no complaints on service, food quality, taste or presentation. I would recommend for catch up's after work if you work in the city or a break on weekends if you are in town shopping

Fast food on steroids.... If you enjoy being treated as an inconvenience. If you relish being talked down to by a 17 year old that just received his RSA. If you respect anonymity and prefer repeat custom to be ignored..... Then congrats! The trifecta. Poor food, ordinary surrounds and disgraceful service. <br/>Embarrassing that our tourists end up here. <br/>Fool me once. Shame on you. Fool me twice....shame on me!

Stop Whingeing you lot!. Hey... Jimmy's is great! Had a ball every time.. food was awesome... entertainment was brilliant (just in the way of the loos though - could have thought about that one a bit) but anyway ... had such a great time!! .... and for the knockers... give it another go eh .... <br/><br/>Enjoy!!!
Gezp72
Disappointing. Thought we'd try Jimmys for a Friday night drink but all we saw were signs on most of the free tables stating we couldn't sit there unless our party equalled the number of seats at the table(even a table for three was reserved) so don't bother if there's only two of you.
Juliettej
Lovely service but really ordinary food. We had brunch there last Sunday. The coffee was terrible- no froth and very weak- and the croissant was very tough and hard with cold melted cheese stuck to its outside. It certainly didn't match the new lovely makeover!

Great vibe guys but no xxxx gold on tap loses points ... Holla at me if this changes

We had a margarita pizza and chips. The chips were nothing exciting but the pizza was beautiful. One of the best we have had outside of Italy. Great spot to have wine and some food and watch the world go by.

What's with the unfinished exposed concrete slab?. I feel like I'm eating my meal in the middle of a construction site. I'm sitting here counting the air bubbles that were left behind when the slab was poured. Fair enough if the menu was priced half of what it is but when you're paying over $30 for a bowl of simple pasta, something is not right. This place is catered for cashed up bogans who wouldn't know class if they fell over it.

Just terrible. I could write a big rant about this place but seems everyones already explained how terrible this place is. I ended up getting my money back it was so bad so if your reading this, just go somewhere else.

Dirty glasses, terrible service. At first I thought what a great please to have a quick business lunch and a drink. I was wrong. We were seated upstairs. When I got my glass it was so dirty I took it back and asked for a new one. The Asian lady begrudgingly obliged but when I pointed out that a lot of the glasses hanging above the bar were very dirty and 3-4 I could see had lipstick still in them she just turned and walked away. When we went to get our second round she said they have a $20 minimum. I understand eftpos min charges as I used to work hospo myself but to paying customers who are forced to pay at the bar for every transaction I think this is ridiculous. As the lady next to me said 'I feel like we are getting told off!' It's sad to see a bar/restaurant leaning on its location so much. Where's the service guys! And polish you glasses!

People skills. I went to try out the new and improved Jimmy's despite my friends telling me of it's flaws. At first, I thought my friends were right as it did seem a farce merely to get a seat, then because my little boy and I sat on a table to large for two we got asked to move and then good took a little longer than expected. My son could hear the musician upstairs (who by the way was excellent!) and wanted to go see him play so we went upstairs where the staff were much friendlier and the atmosphere was rather relieving after the rush that appeared to be the lower floor. I went to the bar to order a milkshake for my boy for his dessert but one of the bartenders said they didn't have the ingredients to make it up here and that I would need to order downstairs. Enter young man with ear piece. A young man with a smile then edged away his colleague and looked down at my son and asked him what flavour he liked to which he replied strawberry. I paid and he told us he would bring it to the table with a treat for the quote "young un". He brought up a beautiful milkshake with fresh strawberry on the rim and handed my son a hat to take home with him. That's great customer service! This made my sons day and now he wants to come here for milkshakes all the time! Jimmy's needs more hospitable hospitality workers.

Need better chairs!. Chairs only have three legs, every time you cross your legs or move slightly to either side - the chairs wobbles.<br/>My friend even fell off her chair due to the wobbly nature and I almost fell of mine!<br/>It might look cool, but if people keep falling off, I would think this was a health and safety issue...

How Rude. My husband and I wanted to try out the new Jimmy's. When we went there we asked to be seated up stairs that was fine we went up and someone else was seating us. She sat us in the middle of two other tables no room really for us to even sit down. We asked to be seated somewhere else, she was then so rude to my husband saying we can not sit anywhere else. There were so many empty tables but she said they were all for four people. When my husband was nicely asking how come we could not sit some where else some other waitress buts in and starts to argue with my husband. At this point I said let's just leave not worth it. We then went down stairs talked to a few people about the bad service and were seated down stairs. All the wait staff down there were extremely nice and very friendly. My husband and I would not go back food was ok but way over priced.

Disappointed. The place looked fantastic with all the lights and greenery in the middle of the mall! My experience was a bit of mix of positive and negative however. <br/>I was attracted and intrigued to visit the restaurant at first but waiting almost 10 minutes to be seated seriously turned me off the place. Two staff were chatting behind the bar the entire time with one even ducking behind it to drink and continue talking. It was only my interest in the menu and the fact that I was so tired and couldn't be bothered to look anywhere else that we decided to stay. When a member of staff finally did come to seat us I did have some issues:<br/>- they didn't explain that the menus differed if sitting upstairs or down stairs<br/>- THEY DIDN'T SEAT US! And as a result we weren't given menus and we weren't told of the ordering process (you have to go up to the bar to order)<br/><br/>We found our own seat in a corner near the bar that overlooked the mall which was nice and was fairly quiet and cosy (what we were looking for after a long day) but was dirty and was only cleaned after we asked a bar staff for a cloth.<br/>The staff member behind the bar upstairs was however very friendly and was more then happy to explain the ordering process and provided us with menus. He even recommended a few dishes that he enjoyed from the menu.<br/><br/>The food was nice and well priced and we did enjoy the meal but the service at the beginning of the evening left me disappointed with my experience at Jimmy's. It seems to be the type of place that regulars would love and I can see coming to the restaurant for lunch or after work drinks, but for first timers and tourists, just no.

So much potential but such a disappointment. Newly renovated Jimmy's on the Mall looks like a chilled out stylish place to enjoy an afternoon/evening meal and beverage and enjoy the people watching in the heart of Brisbane but looks can be deceiving. Always looked so busy so I thought I'd call and reserve for dinner with friends - "sorry we don't take reservations at all". No problems we got in early, it's a pain to get upstairs without staff following you because you have to wait to be seated but I knew where I was going though and that was to the upstairs restaurant (they're two different restaurants). Was seated in a middle area in the upstairs area and when a nice looking balcony seat became available and I asked if we could move there I was told no because only groups of 4-5 are supposed to sit there. 1-2 get crammed against the wall, 2-3 sit in the middle where we were and 4-5 at the prime positions. What a crock! This place has so much potential but management have completely stuffed it up with their stupid new rules. How hard would it be to take reservations, give you 10 minutes and then give your table away if you don't show up.

Mixed. The renovated premises look great, unfortunately the atmosphere doesn't match the relaxed look - scratch beneath the surface and it was more IKEA canteen than classy restaurant. <br/><br/>The staff were too busy chatting in a huddle of three to seat us, despite there being "please wait to be seated" signs everywhere. When we did get their attention, I was wedged in between two strangers on a bench with so little room I couldn't get in without tripping over my poor neighbour's handbag, who I then became quite intimate with as we bumped butts and apologised to each other for elbow jabs throughout the meal. <br/><br/>The food is not bad, but probably not up to the right standard for the price. I guess the prime position has to be paid for somehow.<br/><br/>We weren't given serviettes or plates with our pizza, which made it tricky to eat, and my gin and tonic was insipid. It may have just been tonic water whizzed up in a SodaStream out the back, I'm not sure. The gin was AWOL.<br/><br/>It was quite clear that the moment you finished your last bite you were expected to get out. We got that feeling - the poor women next to us were told explicitly to order more food or get out. When they asked for a bowl of chips, they were told it was not enough and they'd have to leave. <br/><br/>If they can get the service right and take the broomsticks out of their arses it might turn out O.K., but I think I will stay away for a while to let things settle down.

Disappointing. My friend and I went to Jimmy's for lunch yesterday and it was one disappointment after another.<br/>When there was no-one to seat us, we found our own table. It was around 1.40pm and the lunch rush was clearly over. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. After we sat down we noticed the waitresses looking over at us and talking. Shortly after, one came over and asked if we would move to a smaller table. The one we were at seated 4 and there were only 2 of us. We moved but did notice that those tables never filled the whole time we were there.<br/>We placed our orders and when my friend ordered the scallops she said it and pointed to it on the menu. When it arrived it was calamari and she was told if she wanted to wait for the order to be done again it would take a long time. I am vegetarian and asked if they could make a vegetable version of any of the stir-fries. The answer was initially no but after I pressed for the waitress to ask, she came back and said the only vegetable I could have was mushroom. At her recommendation, I ordered the falafel sandwich which she said came in a wrap. When it arrived it was in a bun that tasted 3 days old it was so stale. The falafel had NO flavour. Not only was the service bad and the food poor, the prices were ridiculous! It was an average of $30 for a stir-fry!<br/>Would not eat here again under any circumstance.

Jimmys on the mall, just like mamma used to make.. That isn't a good thing... My mums a horrid cook.<br/><br/>I had the savoury mince with "poached eggs"<br/><br/>Come to jimmys if you want a hard boiled egg with leftover mince from last night, the Veges in the savoury mince were frozen, I know this because when I bit into one it was cold, not cool, cold from the freezer cold. My poached eggs were hard boiled and tasted old, like someone had used too much vinegar in the making of said eggs.<br/><br/>We were told t would be a 30 mins wait for food, not an issue as they were busy, but then the couple next to us got their food the same time as us, even though they just sat down 5 mins ago!<br/><br/>My milk shake was in a massive glass but half full, no water until we asked, no cutlery despite having our meals for ten mins, then when they brought cutlery, one serviette was given for the two of us....<br/>All in all you should come to jimmys on the mall of your home sick for your mums over cooked eggs, at least my mum was actually busy enough and not a paid chef to warrant Sh**y eggs.<br/><br/>Never coming back, some of the money they spent on a refurb should of been spent on training a decent chef.

Poor service. Have been going to jimmys on a regular basis came today for the first time since its reopening, terrible service waited a long time for the meal and then my meal came but my wifes meal was forgotten amid much confusion as to what had happened she was given a new meal but they got it wrong as it was not what she had ordered never coming back

Lost it charm. We are creatures of habit and have loved dinning at Jimmy's on the Mall Restaurant every Friday night for the past 10 years. We loved how the waiters and waitresses knew us by name and could always have a conversation with us. We always felt welcomed and care about. The old restaurant always had a great feel about it, you were able to sit have a wine and talk about your day. We frequented Jimmy's as we liked the consistency of the food and service,. BUT NOT ANYMOERE. Jimmy's you have lost your charm and our patronage. Your chairs are impractical, can not believe that you are expected to sit on a stool to eat a $40- $50 meal, local pub is cheaper. The noise level is intolerable, you can not even hear each other's conversation. The food is disgusting, tonight my husbands meal was cold, mine was floating in oil, no sign of the garlic cream sauce, which I sent back to the kitchen. My meal came out twenty minutes later and the seafood was not even cooked this time. Needless to say I am now at home eating a tuna sandwich as I still have not received an edible meal in 1-2 hours there. Their kitchen is going to kill a customer with food poisoning if the are not more careful. Our meals, the first time took over 1 hour to arrive at our table. Mean time we asked the drink waiter (that bought us our drinks after the first 15 minutes) for two glasses of water. We did get them, after asking another two waiters and it only took another 45 minutes to get them, glad I wasn't choking or dying of thirst. It is good to see some of the old staff there but unfortunately the change in guard in the restaurant no longer allows them to spend time with their customers.<br/>SO JIMMY'S, YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED UNDER CONSTRUCTION. YOU HAVE FAIL MISERABLY TO CONTINUE YOUR ONCE GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE STANDARDS OF PAST YEARS WITH YOUR REVAMPED RESTAURANT. LOST YOUR CHARM, LOST OUR PATRONAGE. Cannot even give you a rating.

Eggs Benedict - Smoked Salmon. Could have been better with more hollandaise

Pleasant Surprise in the Heart of Brisbane. We were really glad to see the construction finally cease outside those amazing shops like Typo and see the beautiful redesign at Jimmy's on the Mall. We were greeted at the door by a lovely waitress who guided us upstairs (as we wanted pizza) where we met another lovely waitress named Francesca. We were guided to our table, which was a little cramped mind, and handed menus before glasses of water were filled at our table. We ordered two drinks, which were out in 5 mins, and two mains, which only took between 10-15 minutes! The waitstaff were floating around asking how things were and refilling our water and the atmosphere was jovial and warming. Another waitress, Daniella, was very accommodating to our needs and was quick to answer our questions when we had them and conscious of our dietary requirements. Overall, it was a lovely experience, one that took us away from the hustle and bustle of the city to sit atop the mall in a picturesque landing as we watched shoppers mill about below us. Will surely visit next time we're in the city, it was fantastic!

Good Reno - Not much else.... Looks great after the renovation. Was eager to relax here over a few drinks and some snacks/tapas on a lazy afternoon. The endless count of 'please wait to be seated' signs should've alerted us to the pain to come. Too many overworked staff running around and a few too many rules. It's a shame, given it's' prominent location, that Jimmy's doesn't offer a welcoming and relaxed Brisbane/Queensland vibe. <br/>Hopefully it's just teething issues...
Felicity Ann
Lovely layout, annoying that you can only sit in certain areas based on what you are eating. We wanted to have a couple if drinks and a charcuterie platter and were told we could only sit up the top if each of us ordered a Main meal - when there were more tables free than full.

Rude Owner. Such a rude man. <br/>On a quiet Thursday night, a friend and I went for a drink here after a work shop and sat at an available table with 5 seats. Shortly after sitting down I was pushed in the back and told I was in the way by an abrupt old man. I told him this is seat at a table and he told me he was the owner and I could leave the premise if I didn't like it. I was absolutely disgusted. Not only was the seat at the table when I got there, he was so rude in asking me to move and quick to suggest he throw me out because of it. Great venue, but the owner not only needs to learn some basic customer service skills, but also some manners. DISGUSTING - I wont be back!

Bring back the old jimmys. Went to the new jimmys on the mall with friends fro coffee, very unimpressed - none of us will be going back and as its 100 metres from our workplace that is seriously lost business. the girl tried to take our order before we got a menu, then couldn't find menus, then mixed up the orders -couldn't answer basic questions -eg what sort of cakes do you have, forgot to put the order in - bought the wrong order for an allergy sufferer - the macaroons were not quite fresh - my drink didn't arrive till we were ready to leave - fruit juice only - the glass was completely filled with ice - juice would have been 10%, never again

Don't know what all the negative feed back is about??. I took my family to lunch on sunday at the new Jimmys. The place was very busy but we were seated immediately. The girl serving us was very attentive and we had our drinks within a few minutes. We had the 400gm rump steak, 220gm steak and pulled pork roll, all of which were delicious and the steaks were cooked perfectly (med rare). The new jimmys is a vast improvement on the old and i will be returning with a few mates to watch some EPL games on the big screen!

Love It. Went for lunch on Sunday, it was great. Yes it was busy, but we were seated straight away and enjoyed a few drinks. The place has a great vibe and the food was delicious. I think they have done a great job on the refurb and doing an amazing job pumping out so many meals.

Loved it!. Great food and service, the place has just been renovated and looks and feels fantastic. My wife and I dined there for lunch and the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was very good and well presented. The designers have done a great job with the decor creating a classy but contemporary fit out with great attention to detail from the staff uniforms to the cutlery. The place seems to be very well managed and we would highly recommend dining there, can't wait for the next visit

Drinks at Jimmy's - never again!. Went to the newly reopened Jimmy's Sunday 9th Nov. Managed to part with $38 for 2 glasses of Penfold's shiraz. The $13 glasses we thought we'd ordered were pricey enough but then the bill came. When challenged, the wait staff refunded $6 for one of the glasses only. Ripped-off. Go elsewhere in future.

What a huge disappointment!. First of all, the revamped Jimmy's looks like a huge canteen trying to squeeze in as many cheap looking tables and seats. The whole structure looks dull, boring, like an assembled concrete box. Most of the seats are stools with no backs to lean back and relax, which means you have to hunch over the table all the time during the meal. The hard wooden seats also make it uncomfortable to sit on.<br/><br/>We ordered two pieces of cake served with ice cream. After 25 minutes, no show (unprecedented!), so we chased them, eventually they turned out in another 10 minutes with NO ice cream! So they took length 30 minutes just to serve two small pieces of cake. We were very annoyed.<br/><br/>We used to have lunch in Jimmy's every Saturday. Now we are absolutely sure that we won't go to there again.

Gave it a shot. Went here since it was close to our hotel regardless of the low review. <br/><br/>fail 1 - waited at entrance to be seated (no one else waiting) and passed by at least 5 staff with no acknowledgement<br/><br/>fail 2 - had to ask for menus<br/><br/>fail 3 - warned the coffees would take min 30 mins.<br/><br/>if the wasn't enough<br/><br/>fail 4 - prices for breakfast were riddiculous! expect to pay $50 min for x2 people breakfast.<br/><br/>= walked out

Bad service, long wait. ANGRY!. We will not come back again.<br/>After we've been waiting for it to reopen, everything has change!<br/>We came in tonight for some seafood, we ordered and paid a $49 worth of char-grilled bug, prawns, scallop and calamari which would come with chips and salad....<br/>So, after almost 45 minutes wait, food came out, 4 bugs, 5 square medium-size calamari, 3 prawns and half a handful of poor looking salad....<br/>Our scallops were missing, no chips came. We were super hungry, so I went to ask another waiter at the counter, I said the plate has no scallop nor chips, and he replied with a disgusting expression on his face, 'Ok I'll go over to you when I finish restarting the machine ...(or something like that..)'. 10mins later we almost finished our food, the same waiter was still at the counter, just casually serving other customers, while we were waiting for him to help us (we were sitting on the seats right in front if him). I felt unrespectful, I was really angry.<br/>So I asked another waiter that I found walking around, then 10 mins later he brought us the chips, still no scallop and I asked what about the scallops? He went back for about 5mins, came out with one scallop on a large plate compared to its size... I was like just one? What? Is this a joke?<br/>We finished the disgusting but expensive seafood plate, cos we were super super hungry and just walked out :(<br/>I would never come back to this place, and would never recommend it to anyone.<br/>Bad customer service, no one cares about you, waiting for way too long, when there were just two or three tables ordering food, way too overpriced..and wasn't even completed? If you can't check what should be on a plate, don't put it up on a menu!<br/>I'm just really angry.

Poor Service, Long Waits and Over-Priced. My friend and I went here on Friday night and waited in line for 15 mins for a seat, which is fine. Except there were a number of four seat tables free. We were eventually sat down in the upstairs area and ordered drinks and dinner. We ordered garlic bread and pizza. The waitress said there was no garlic bread left, and there'd be a half an hour wait for the pizza. Dinner was brought out. The pizza was quite nice, though not worth $25. You could get better value at New York Slice Pizza down the road on Albert Street. We finished our dinner orderer dessert since we were still hungry (because we did not get an entree). The waitress kept telling us there would be up to a 1 hour wait for dessert as though she was tying to talk us out of it. She was actually quite rude. We accepted and waited 1 hour. The waitress did not check in with us during this time.<br/><br/>1 hour passed and we had not received our desserts. During this time the table next to us ordered and received their meals - including a garlic bread which they were apparently sold out of. Our waitress had not visited the table so I had to spreak to a waitress from a different section. I explained that we had waited an hour as we were told but still hadn't received our desserts. She gave us our dessert spoons and said she would speak to the kitchen. She came back 5 mins later and said there had been a mistake, and it had gone to the wrong kitchen or something so there would be up to another 1 hour wait. We said no and paid our bill and left. Would not recommend. If you're looking for somewhere to go in Brisbane, try Jo Jo's or the Pig and Whistle.

Disgusting services. Had lunch today with work colleagues - will NEVER eat here again. There was 3 of us for lunch 2 meals came but missing 3rd meal. After a friend approach the counter 10min into our meals we were promised it will arrive in 4mins. The vegetarian lasagne arrived only to be frozen in the middle. <br/>For the price you pay for meals at this place - you need to improve your customer service! <br/>So many staff wondering around no directions when people walk into the place - no sign to say help yourself to a table or wait for waiter or anyone welcoming customers.

Lovely chicken cashew salad. Would come back for! Cute staff too ;)

It's pathetic.

Spent the last few months in Brisbane Australia so have had plenty of time to check out the restaurants. This place is my least favourite of all of them! The food was so bland and not worth the cost. The wait time was ok but that's probably because no real time was put towards making sure the food tasted good.

Delicious Spicey Lamb Salad. Arrived in Brisbane late and came across Jimmy's on the Mall. Being after 9pm I asked the waitress whether it was too late to order and she informed me that this was a 24/7 restaurant - bonus - wish Perth had a place like this!<br/><br/>Being alone and new to Brisbane was not a problem, I felt completely at ease with the relaxed vibe on this balmy evening and looked after by my waiter Timothy (although the eve became busier). As it was late I opted for a light meal, which turned out to be a perfect choice. The well presented spicey lamb salad was fresh and the combination of flavors were perfectly balanced i.e. juicy plentiful lamb; roasted pumpkin; quinoa; sultanas; beetroot; burghul; creamy feta; black olives; red onion and mixed leaves....Ahh ABSOLUTE BLISS washed down with a glass of Charles Merton Shiraz from Barossa Valley and then later on a velvety hot chocolate to finish off my first evening in Brisbane - I was a very happy customer. Total cost $41.50. <br/><br/>Would definitely come back again, might try brekky!

Horrible service. Partner and I went to have breakfast. Stood there waiting to be seated no one asked us if we needed help nor is there a seat yourself table service sign up. The manager walked past us and said we could seat ourselves. Then no one came to us with a menu for at least 10 minutes. All of a sudden someone else sits down next to us and a waitress walks straight over to them and asks for their order, then comes over to us and even though my partner prompted her that we'd been waiting there longer with no menus or anyone attending us, there was no apology or even a smile. <br/>Eggs benedict had one tablespoon of hollandaise, ridiculous for $20 and the coffee had the worst foam on it I'd ever seen. We had the bill just slapped down on the table before we'd even finished and as we paid the manager didn't even bother saying hello or asking us how our mediocre attempt at a breakfast was. <br/>Will not ever be back nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. If you've got time to wait around cluelessly while at least 4 wait staff roam around serving other customers then this place is perfect for you.

Just experienced the worst service of my life.. Went for cake and coffee, left with nothing other than a taste of anger. Looked at the cake cabinet for a few minutes, no help, walked to the counter, no help, asked the staff chatting begin the bar I it was table service - response - no it's not what do you want? Queried the price I was about to pay and the response was what's the problem.. Ended up walking off.. Not too sure if I would even give a second chance..

Fantastic!! We stopped by for lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon and decided to try the 2 bug specials. I had the chilli bugs and my wife had the grilled bugs. The servings were very generous and both were cooked perfectly. I couldn't get enough of the chilli sauce. Spicy but not too hot. The only thing we could pick was that there were no prices on the specials. Each special cost about $45 ( probably why it's not advertised) but definatley worth a try. Expensive but good. A winner for those wanting great seafood.

Worst experience of my life. I was there today for desert with my friends after lunch and we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. After we were seated, it took us 15 more minutes to order. The waiter didn't greet us at all but asked " food or drinks?" and then left for the desert menus. All the waiters were servicing one side of the restaurant and so half of the crowd was ignored. So we signaled the waiter so as to give him the order and he came over and said " Now you've called me two times! I'm the manager here. We are busy today so if you can wait you can stay if not you should take it some place else. We are not Mc Donalds". It was simply unacceptable. I was too shocked to respond in anyway so we decided to leave. BUT I WILL NEVER GO TO JIMMY'S OR SISTER RESTAURANTS AGAIN. <br/>First of all he was not wearing any "manager" badge so there was no way of knowing who he was. Also even if he was the manager, it doesn't make him better than any of his customers; managers often jump in and share the work load with the waiters when it's hectic. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Chloe
Disgusting service... Walked up to the restaurant and was looked at by 2 of the staff members (an 40 ish Asian woman and a younger brunette) and they both just looked at my fiancé and I as we were trying to work out whether we were just to sit down or they would take us to a seat.<br/><br/>About 10 minutes we were seated the older lady came over to us and handed us the menu's, and as we were ordering our food she kept interrupting us- as in we ordered the steak and whilst mid way through saying ' I would like it medium rare' she decides that it would then be the best time to speak over us to ask us how we would like it cooked.<br/><br/>The food was average- fiancé ordered a chicken parmigiana- there was no tomato sauce and also no cheese- more like a plain schnitzel. <br/><br/>Whilst we were sitting and waiting for our meals I decided to google the restaurant to see if anyone else had experienced the same disgusting customer service. Wishing we had seen the reviews before we sat down as I am extremely disappointed with this place and I will never recommend to anyone! <br/><br/>I hope the owner/ management read these reviews and carefully reconsider their choice of staff because these reviews really don't flatter their business at all.

$$$$ on the Mall. I have always liked this place. It is pricy, but you expect that for sitting in the most expensive real estate. Great place to people watch, and great place to meet.

Three words: moreton bay bugs! Best bugs I've had for a very long time and that garlic butter works a charm. We've always walked past Jimmy's when we're in the mall and I'm really pleased we finally stopped in for a bite. The service was friendly and polite and it's a great spot for people watching. We'll be back,

Late night goodness. My wife and i were attending a work function in the city. After after a few nibbles and quite a bit of wine, we were STARVING at 12:30 at night we didn't feel like hungry jacks or pie face, so off to jimmys we went. Glad we did, i had the most tender piece of streak i had had in a while and massive!! Giant rump....not wrong!<br/>My wife had sizzling garlic prawns, again, not wrong, those babies were sizzling. I felt sorry for the poor waitress who brought them out! But she did so with a smile, and continued to smile until we left at 1am.<br/>Over all a great place friendly smiling staff and tasty huge meals. Next time i am stumbling down the mall late at night I'll be sure to stop in for a feed.

I should go shopping more often. The wife and I went into the city last weekend on way to pick up friends from the airport. The Mrs wanted to go shopping and when we got to the Queen Street Mall it was very warm so we stopped in at Jimmys for a cold one...... and then another .....I was getting quite settled and with it being in the centre of the Mall the Mrs was able to pop off and shop while I stayed on. We had a couple of staff attending to us and they were so friendly and recommended the seafood special done in chilli sauce... It was one of the nicest meals I have ever had......the seafood was cooked to perfection and really fresh, I ended up parking there for quite a while and not once was I made to feel unwelcome, even when they got quite busy. I will definately be back .....

I LOVE EGGS BENE!. If there is one thing i love to do on the weekends its go out for breaky...and eat eggs beneditct. I was in brisbane yesterday for business, and my collegues and i chose Jimmys on the Mall. It was a hot day and we were enticed by the fans, they sprayed a cooling mist, what a great idea!!!<br/><br/>Any way im getting off track. The eggs benidict here are divine!! Beautiful sauce, and not too much of it...not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I always orfder potato rosti with my eggs bene, and it comes with it at Jimmys on the mall which is awsome.<br/><br/>Coffee was great, so creamy, and was served quicky, great considering how busy the stafff were. The staff were welcoming and friendly.<br/>Over all a great place, I cant wait to go to brisbane again so i can eat Jimmy's eggs benidict. Maybe next time ill try the salmon option.

Lunch. Had lunch when on holiday in Brisbane - great food, great service great experience. Thanks

Not great service. This place is not great at all. I went their last night and the place was understaffed and the staff that were there didn't look like they wanted to be and were rude. We waiting 25 minutes after ordering a beer for them to take the cap off and deliver to our table. 40 minutes for a cocktail and had our food arrive somewhere in the middle. the food was cold. tasted ok but yea, cold. I wont be back for quite some time. When your waiting 25 minutes for a beer it gets a bit ridiculous.
Dusk
HORRID!. Went there for lunch, Steak sandwich and a drink sounded good. Steak arrived ice cold and no drink, called over the waitress who looked like she did not really want to be there. Second Steak sandwich arrives (Still no drink by the way) This one is raw enough to have a heartbeat. The only person that actually seemed to care was the guy behind the counter so I will not be going back. If you do decide to eat there and they bring a drink you didnt order, it is probably mine.

Worst place you can go in the city. Worst service ever. Walked up to the place, no one even looked at us. Sat down, someone came to ask if we're having lunch and no one ever came back. I made eye contact and even waved at a few staff a few times and no one acknowledged us. I ended up leaving without ordering. There were 6 staff on shift and 10 tables including us with customers. You'd think they can afford to be more attentive.

The service was fantastic, the food was lovely, will definitely be coming back again.

Diners beware.. Sadly disappointing, expensive waste of produce. Top location, lazy execution.

Discusting! 50 dollars for breakfast eggs were raw, service was terrible. Do your self a favor and keep walking past!
The_d_rock
Bad service. I have eaten here about 4 times and am always surprised by how rude the service is. Food is OK pub grub to bistro sort of food. The location is convenient in the mall and you can watch people pass by. Good selection of draft beers.<br/>Anyway a waitress kicked my wife's chair on our last visit so we might not go back again.

Attrocious service. Jimmy's on the Mall has terrible customer service, with their staff dashing away serving other customers even in the middle of taking your party's orders. When you challenge this and ask to escalate this, they ask you to leave. Speaking to the venue manager, he did not want to accept my complaint, continuously talking over me while I was explaining to him what I was unhappy about, and then blamed me for his restaurant being understaffed and for abusing his staff.<br/><br/>I refused to order anything from them, nor will I ever again.
Tourist
Ghastly!. Scallops were raw, the batter tasteless, the whole meal over-priced. strongly recommend you avoid this restaurant like the plague!
Ben Hansen
Average food at best, considering the price paid. Coffee was decent, it was a convenient location, and it was open on a public holiday. I'd you can avoid it, go elsewhere... The value just isn't there at Jimmy's.
Michael
Anything else on the Mall?. Milano, Jimmy's, Cafe East and Pig'n'Whistle are all too similar. How about a little bit of variety on Queen Street Mall?

I don't like grumbling about Brisbane, but there is one thing that often gets brought up and I find myself nodding in agreement- if you want a late dinner, everywhere seems closed. This is where the enduring restaurant Jimmy's on the Mall comes in, and also why it's lasted the test of time in Brisbane city when so many other restaurants haven't. Jimmy's is open 24/7. Seeing as it's been on the scene since 1982, Jimmy's On The Mall did go through a period of having an ageing exterior for awhile there. A recent spruce-up  though has completely transformed this restaurant into something fun, modern and just generally a nice place to be. Being a place that’s open at 4am, it needs to cater to a lot of cravings, and that’s one thing Jimmy’s does really well- offer you a whole lot of variety. We attended another fabulously organised Eat Brisbane event here to sample a range of offerings from Jimmy’s kitchen. To kick off, we were treated to: Scallops Ceviche: Scallops in Lime, Chilli and Coconut, Spanner Crab, Avocado Puree, Shizo Slow Braised Octopus: with Pimentos de Padron, Chorizo, Saffron Aioli, Preserved Lemon I love a bit of ceviche and plating up scallops and crab is a solid and satisfying seafood combo. While the slow braised octopus and chorizo were delicious, I absolutely loved the little dollops of preserved lemon and the pimentos, which were char-grilled perfectly. They were still sweet with just a small amount of heat in them, making them easy to scoff whole. We were then served up: Mushroom and Truffle Arancini: with Porcini Puree, Parmesan, Basil Oil Caramelised Twice Cooked Pork Ribs: with Sticky Black Pepper Sauce If you love anything to do with mushrooms, these arancini have your name on them. The blend of mushrooms in the arancini balls were lifted by a hint of truffle and a mushroom power-kick from the porcini puree. I could have eaten the puree by the bowl-full! The pork ribs were sweet and sticky and all things delicious. The crunchy peanuts on top we

Went to Jimmy's on The Mall for dinner on a Friday night... Had a few choices amongst the Queen Street Mall's restaurants but chose Jimmy's in the end... This dinner made me go from :( to :) ... Before the meal, I was pretty down about something but after the beers came and then the food, my facial features changed...
