This cafe has a great ambience, the food is good and the service is first class as it is well priced – you can hang around to talk if you want to
Coffee was great. It was a bit busy when we got there but they managed to find us a table. Lovely staff. Bonus was seeing all the lions players leave. They must have a room upstairs which we didn't get to see. Definitely go back.
Shaded cafe we came to after a Sunday ride, always very busy. Had a large berry milkshake and toast with honey butter. Probably should have had coffee and a different breakfast. Nice decor, good location.
Pearl is my very favourite cafe in Brisbane. The food is absolutely divine and the one consistent thing that stands out is the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The menu is always so interesting and diverse, which makes eating at Pearl so fabulous.
The other thing I love is their coffee. It is always perfectly made and at the correct temperature. And this is coming from someone who is a coffee snob...
I love walking into the cafe, as it has a great atmosphere. It has a really nice vibe, which is vibrant but also very relaxed. I always feel welcome by the genuine and warm greeting I receive from the staff.
The reason I keep returning to Pearl Cafe is not only because the food and coffee is so excellent, but because I know for sure that I will be looked after and that I will receive excellent service.
We had the ‘trust the chef’ collection which was great value for such beautiful food. There was more than enough food and my particular favorite was the risotto and pasta main dish. Friendly service and beautiful setting. Lovely cocktail list too.
Food here tonight was amazing! We had the artichokes, prawns, cured fish and duck all to share. We were surprised at the variety of continents the dishes came from but it worked. The artichokes were Middle Eastern, the prawns Asian, the cured fish with beetle nut leaves could have been from a range of Asian regions but the wasabi gave it something Japanese. The duck was European and had brussel sprouts, cherries, mash and jus all with an underlying truffle flavour. Should have taken pics sorry. Trust me, it was great.

I have no friends so I came here alone. It was pretty much as expected. The food was above average, I went to lunch, also brunch twice and I loved it , I’d definitely come back, one of the better places around
We knew better but rocked up with out a booking anyway - and it went ok! A bit of a wait but the friendly staff kept us up to date. We visited for early-ish breakfast on a recent winter weekend. We sat outside which was a touch brisk.
The delicious food and good service more than made up for it though.
We ordered a pork belly and egg burger which was served on a pretty black bun. The flavours were good and the chipotle sauce really kicked and brought everything together.
The green omelette with salmon asparagus and goats curd was the best dish we had. Thoroughly recommend!
Pearl in its current form is a great weekend breakfast option- but strong recommend booking to avoid disappointment. We will be back (again).

Had brekkie with Meatball & Beef Cheeks here last Sunday. Honestly, it was my first time of visit but it left me an impressive dining experience. Wait-staff is very attentive and performs well. Meatball ordered two pouched eggs with additional hand-cut bacon and Char Siu Pork and I ordered the baked eggs with Cha Siu pork with chickpeas. Needless to say, a cup of flat white is the a-must. Coffee came to the table first, which earns my appreciation on the aroma and it looks strong enough for me. Both savoury dishes came the next and we did an experiment on the pouched eggs by piercing the fork on them and they were immediately response with running egg yolk - perfect! Char Siu pork was really prepared nice and tasteful. I just wonder how the chef get the Chinese recipe and the Char Siu is no different to those from Chinese BBQ shops in Chinatown. I love my baked egg, where the taste was well balanced with tomatoes, broccoli,Char Siu Pork and fennel. Overall, it is awesome to have such impressive brekkie and we both enjoy the moment of catching up with each other...
The food was awesome! And the waitresses were extremely attentive to our needs, especially since there were 13 of us. Enjoyed our experience here :)
Great food- crispy mushrooms and french toast were delicious and decent value. Coffee is good not great but compliments food week. Service was friendly and prompt- will definitely return.
Stopped by Pearl on a quick trip to Brisbane this week. I’ve been coming to Pearl for the last 8 years now and is easily still my favourite cafe in Brisbane. Notwithstanding an ownership change in 2016, Pearl continues its same rustic charm and precise, seasonal dishes. We’d ordered the stone fruit stuffed French toast and what was essentially egg on toast with Romesco sauce and tempura battered mushrooms. Both dishes very well balanced, well executed and super tasty. I do feel some of the soulfulness of Pearl from back in 2011-2012 isn’t there anymore, but that might just be nostalgia speaking.
We've been a regular, thought it's about time we give them a 5 star! Meals have always been innovative and spot on. Excellent customer service as well!
Just fabulous. Had to go back for breakfast after having a coffee the day before. Totally worth it. Had the house cured trout and lamb. Great service.
Came on a Thursday night, it was really quiet in this short street. The restaurant itself wasn't that busy, there were a few people in there with us and we did not need to wait too long for our food.
We ordered the market fish of the day, homemade gnocchi, potatos with lemon mayo on the side, and a butterscotch milkshake.
The milkshake was a good size for $9.5, and I shared it with another person as it was too much to be consumed by myself.
The homemade gnocchi had really interesting flavours that made you keep digging in to find out more!
I really liked the fish, the fish of the day was snapper and the skin was so crispy! It came with clams and oysters cream on a charred cous! 10/10 would order the fish again, everything just blended well together and needless to say I cleaned the whole plate up with a spoon ;D
I recommend this place, parking is a bit of a problem but the next street down has plenty of parking.
Definitely will be back again to try out the pork belly and crab cake dish!!!

Today I was at woolloongabba and feeling hungry I entered the first place that seemed to be interesting which happened to be this one.
After taking a seat I was quickly served water and asked if I wanted to order a coffee to which I replied I would like a dirty chai on soy milk.
After receiving my coffee I asked for the waitress/barista recommendation and she promptly replied that I should have the crepes with mango.
The dirty chai was well balanced between spiciness and coffee flavour and being served with a strainer was a nice touch that I hadn't seen around before. The downside is that it happened to be a bit watery with not much body at all. I would rate it a 3.5 out of 5.
The crepes were served with a slice of caramelized mango, fresh berries, passionfruit ice cream and a fresh lime. I was a bit scared about ordering it since I'm not into oversweet dishes but this one did not have that problem at all even more with the lime squeezed on top. The crepes were thin and perfectly cooked, the mango inside the crepes still had a bit to it, the caramelized mango apparently fresh caramelized as it was hot and crunchy on top while almosy melting around the mango skin, the passionfruit ice cream was creamy and tangy with some passionfruit seeds in it for a crunchy bite. I really enjoyed this dish but I felt like it was missing something to be perfect, I suggested the waitress that maybe a raspberry curd would be an improvement and she replied that she will let the chef know about my opinion. I would rate this dish a 4.5 out of 5.
Overall I enjoyed my experience and I would be more than happy to come back!
We really enjoy our visits to Pearl. While we've only been for morning/afternoon teas so far, their selection of cakes are always imaginative and beautifully homemade - not to mention delicious. The butterscotch milkshake is my favourite milkshake ever, although $10 is rather expensive. Coffee is well made. Staff have always been really friendly and attentive. Can't wait to try dinner one time.

When I ordered my crispy pork belly sandwich I expected a pretty decent sized burger to come out. So when the tiny little burger come out, I was a bit skeptical. However, the pork was crispy and cooked to perfection. The sourdough bun was fantastic and the slaw was a perfect pairing! And the burger was the perfect size! Do not judge this dish by the presentation! Will definitely go back! The atmosphere was great and so too the decor! We also had an iced latte and pavlova almond meal loaf which were fantastic!

I came to Pearl Cafe with high expectations, thanks to my mother (she had not stopped talking about it, I swear) and they were met for sure.
The cafe itself is beautifully set out, there's quite a few tables but I didn't feel squished at all. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who served us for lunch.
To start, we ordered the artisan breads and olives from the starters menu. The bread was lovely and the olives were... olives? For the main, I had the charred broccoli salad and I must say it was one of the most delicious dishes I have ever eaten!! So flavourful and full of different textures, everything just worked. My mum had the market fish that was served with a fennel and pea risotto. She said it was "absolutely divine", her plate was almost spotless by the end of it so it must be true! My dad had the mussels special which was mussels cooked in a tomato broth, he too enjoyed his meal a lot. Now obviously we wouldn't have been able to leave without trying some of the scrumptious looking cakes on display, and scrumptious they were... Between the three of us, we had a plum and coconut cake and a lemon curd and passionfruit polenta cake, both of which literally made my tastebuds have a little party. The polenta cake was my favourite, the mix of the super sweet icing and passion fruit was unique and wonderful matched with the lemon cake (so many adjectives!).
Overall: Such a quaint little cafe, perfect if you are looking for a quiet place for lunch (I've heard they do a great breakfast/brunch too). Really great service, we didn't wait very long for our meals and everything was just about perfect!! Would definitely recommend Pearl Cafe to everyone!!
The ambience of the Pearl Cafe is top notch. The food was presented elegantly and tasted delicious. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable- without ever being intrusive on the dining experience. We also received complimentary dishes. Great experience overall. I could see myself having after work drink here with colleagues, dinner with friends and family and a romantic dinner. Covers all occasions.
Came here for dinner with a couple of friends. Good selection of drinks. I ordered the lamb, which was delectable and melted in my mouth (my companions had a bite and agreed wholeheartedly it was one of the best mains). Very reasonable portions; my lamb came with yummy asparagus and beans, so no need for extra sides. One little criticism is that service could be a little more 'welcoming'. Otherwise, will be back during the day to try some brunch options!
Interesting and tasty menu. Coffee was really good - they don't have skim milk but do carry almond and soy. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Prices were sensible. Would definitely go back 😊
Had a fantastic dinner at Pearl tonight. Great wine choice by the staff. Had the charcuterie plate which was overloaded with 3 different meats, pickles and bread. Amuse bouche of salmon row and trout was a delight. Mains were the special Pig which was shredded and juicy with roast potatoes and a light rocket salad. Dessert was a selection of 3 cheeses with bread which tipped me over the edge of elegant sufficiency! Such a fantastic night of food and wine. Thank you so much to the staff and chefs for putting on a lovely night. Wednesday nights with the Pig special is definitely recommended.
Called in for a coffee with a group of friends and was dissappointed they did not have lactose free milk, only soy and almond milk.
So I decided to go for a pot of chai tea. It was very fragrant! But I really needed a caffeine hit. Sorry, now I go to The Brown Dog cafe up the road for my Flat White on Zymil.
I haven't eaten here, so the rating is purely on the coffee and my pot of tea.

I've been to Pearl Cafe several times now and have found it to be a hit or miss experience. After the first trip, I couldn't get the thick cut bacon out of my head for weeks. This would probably be classified as 'speck', which may not be to some people's liking, but I thought it was great. It was one thick slice and melted in your mouth...strangely reminiscent of one of the best steaks I've ever eaten in Argentina. My second trip saw all four members of my party order poached eggs on toast with bacon - enjoyed by all. The third trip the bacon was undercooked. The fourth trip the eggs were cold by the time they made it to the table. When they're good, they're really good. When they're not, they're not.
I would say the food is good but it's way overpriced given the portion served. Makes me think twice to come back here again. Would I come back again? It's a big maybe given there are plenty of cafes out there with bigger portion and the taste is just as good.
Pearl cafe is a gorgeous French style cafe with lots of dark wood, mirrors and antique touches. The food is similarly refined, adventurous but well judged. The service is typically friendly and efficient, all together a reliably wonderful choice for either a special meal or a quiet weekday brunch.
Quality food and seasonal menu mixed with genuine service makes Pearl one of Brisbane's best.

A big round table for 8 of us girls for breakfast, love the round table so u can talk to everyone! Had the spanner crab omelette and it was good and filling, but the sourdough toast is a bit hard to cut 😔. The iced latte was strong enough till the last drop!
Decided to try out Pearl Cafe and couldn't walk past their Coconut and Vanilla Bircher Muesli topped with peaches. The muesli was delicious and flavoursome and the staff were lovely. Didn't get a chance to try their coffee.
One of the best in Brisbane with consistently updated menu to take advantage of seasonal produce. Love the fact you can go back every couple of months to something completely creative & different. If you just want bacon & eggs - go elsewhere & it will be same same. Pearl is a breakfast dining experience!
This is a story of two magical animals. One is the pork and the other the bacon. What wonderful animals these are when you combine them into a super pork belly and bacon combo then topped with the unborn child of a chicken. Truly, this is the food for the gods. All hail to the two greatest animals on earth. If these two animals were to be.combined into one (most likely via some sort of bazaar genetic engineering experiment) the creature that it becomes would take over the world and enslave humanity in its tasty culinary grip. May God help us all.
The selection of cakes and sweet treats are to die for. What we had was delicious but everything looked so good and it was hard to pick just one thing. The staff were lovely and friendly and we were served quickly. Very relaxed atmosphere for a Sunday morning breakfast

If there was a milkshake that could bring all the boys to the yard it would be the fresh espresso milkshake at Pearl Cafe made by Michaela. It's the best.
One of my favorite places. Small but interesting menu, cozy atmosphere and great service. Today I had the cheese on toast with asparagus and bacon and my husband had the bacon and egg sandwich special. I also had a lovely latte and a fresh orange juice with a blueberry muffin. They always have fresh cakes daily. I always return to this place and it always delivers the same high quality service and food.
Every time I have been here I have been impressed with the fresh and seasonal produce. The restaurant also has a beautiful interior. Service is usually attentive.
A friend was recommended returning to Pearl, after 1 awesome experience and 2 not so good ones.
We got in to a good crowd at about 10:30am on Sunday, ordered ourselves two flat whites and a House Smoked Fish breakfast and a House made goat sausage breakfast.
I enjoyed the House Smoked Fish (salmon), with lemon and basically a potato onion patty. Good smoked flavor, the tang of the lemon the texture of the leaves and potato made an excellent combination. Would order again.
My friend had the home made goat sausage which he said was similar to a store bought sausage dish, and wouldn't order it again.
On the whole, good experience, and will be returning to try more out.

Pearl Cafe was recommended as a good breakfast spot by a friend – sadly on my weekday visit the lovely interior was booked out for a function, but the staff happily set me up on an al fresco table outside. The menu has some delicious-sounding options, but I only wanted something light given the humidity. I started with a glass of fresh orange juice and ordered the eggs and soldiers with caviar. Yes, you read that right. Pearl Cafe’s menu has some serious class, and this stylish twist on a classic was the proof in the pudding (or the eggs, as the case may be). The toast was a gorgeous rye with that amost sweet nutiness that really dark bread has. Each finger was dense and filling, and both eggs were perfectly soft-boiled with runny yolks. But the highlight was the pop of saltiness with a hint of the ocean from the caviar – I know it sounds like an odd combination, but every bite with it was divine. The only shame was that there wasn’t more to mix in for the bottom half of each egg. A highly recommended local favourite with friendly staff and style to boot.
I had the strawberry preserve milkshake $8.50 and the Toastie $18. The milkshake was of generous serving size and was thick. The Toastie was basically a cheese toastie with truffle and a fried egg on top! Never seen a Toastie like that. I thought it was an imaginative use of truffle. It was very rich and a bit on the salty side for me. It was served with frites (fries) and they were great. I love the dark wood and bare brick decor at Pearl Cafe. Service was friendly and attentive. I would love to return to Pearl Cafe for brunch one day and also to try their dinner menu
Great decor and atmosphere. Welcoming staff and varied menu of drinks and food. We settled in with the prosecco and the liver parfait, both fantastic. We were tempted to try more from the food menu but would have liked to see more meat options. Will be back for sure.
Had lunch here today, had the quail with radicchio which was beautiful and their cheesecake is amazing (for someone who dislikes cheesecake). Lovely setting, staff and location.

Awesome veggie options!. Was here this past weekend and had the Forest Mishroom sandwich. The manchengo cream was delicious and mushrooms were seasoned to perfection.

Had breakfast late morning last Tuesday. You can tell this place is owned and managed by someone who knows what they're doing. Atmosphere is comfortable, service was friendly and efficient. Coffee was really good. Food was different but yummy. Plus we were told that Thursday night is free BYOwine! We look forward to going back.
I've been coming here for ages and always have a great experience. Service isn't always crazy bubbly and in-your-face but is always efficient and friendly. Also hate about no skinny milk, srsly? Skinny milk has more lactose than full cream, also long blacks/piccolos/espressos exist. Food is delish and imaginative. Thumbs up!

Nice breakfast dining experience. Whilst I love the food at Pearl, admittedly the service can be abrasive at times which has prevented me from dining there at times, apart from the quick coffee takeaways. My recent breakfast experience was a marked improvement though. The service was prompt and friendly, with a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. I had the chorizo breakfast dish which was very tasty as well as the iced latte which on that very hot day was simply refreshing. Kudos to the kitchen staff but more so to the friendly wait staff who kept their cool even as they got busier through the morning. I certainly welcome this change.
Lovely food, good service. I've been wanting to try this cafe for a while now but was always there at the wrong time. Today I managed to have lunch here, which was Citron Presse (lemon Joyce, mint, sirop de gimme, soda), roast baby potatoes with mayonnaise and grilled chili peppers. The drink was just what the doctor ordered on a sweltering day like today. Refreshing and delicious! The potatoes were a bit disappointing as they had a soggy texture and the skins were loose which tells me that they were reheated in a microwave upon order. The mayonnaise, however redeemed the potatoes with its salty creamy richness. The peppers were mostly tasteless apart from the two super hot ones which went ok with the potatoes but I feel like I should have had some protein along the way.
Service was satisfactory although I had to wait unacceptably long for my bill to be brought forth.

Fantastic. My trip to Pearl Café in Wooolloongabba has been a long time coming, so I was excited to finally test out their breakfast early one Sunday morning. While the outside is simple and understated, the inside is elegant and reminiscent of Europe. The décor embraces the buildings Circa 1889 Heritage with exposed brick walls and wooden furniture, offering for a cozy ambiance.
The breakfast menu is impressive, offering a broad range of options. While fruit toast, muesli and eggs on toast are provided as options for those who don’t wish to stray far from tradition, the rest of the menu offers more interesting, refined, seasonal dishes. Examples of the dishes on offer include roasted lamb shoulder with fried eggs, sprouted lentil and broad bean hash, or the Italian boiled egg, hand cut aged ham, ricotta, mount zero olives with chewy bread. I went for the sourdough pikelets with rhubarb, honeycomb butter, almonds and lavender, which were moist, light and fluffy and very delicious. My friend went with the French four-minute eggs with asparagus soldiers and fennel salt, an interesting twist on a classic. To drink we had tea and a salted caramel milkshake which came icy cold in a large silver milkshake cup.
Pearl Café also offers a lunch menu daily and dinner from Wednesday to Saturday. ‘The Servery’ which is located upstairs at Pearl Café serves supper (cheese and charcuterie) and wine from 6pm Wednesday to Saturday. Thursdays are BYO (and TYO) nights, while the Café has recently started ‘Pearl Present’ evenings.
I would highly recommend a trip to Pearl Café for breakfast, lunch or dinner, but get in early because it is a popular spot with locals.
Great coffee. Lovely coffee and cakes. Lunch menu is full of lots of interesting dishes. Staff generally very competent if a little abrupt. A great little spot in the Woolloongabba precinct.
Outstanding breakfast. Mushrooms caramelised well with butter and herbs. Scrambled eggs cooked perfectly just 90% set. With a little gloss. Seasoned. Delicious. Love and attention in every meal. We'll be back!

Best Milkshake I've ever had. If you ignore the staff, food and just skip straight to the drink menu: you've found the best milkshake in Brisbane. Other than that, it's not all that fantastic.
Good food good service. Dropped in for a quick lunch with my partner. We enjoyed our pulled pork sandwich and fish finger sandwich. Finished up with good coffee and shared a lovely little pear tart. Our waiter was attentive without being obtrusive. I'd gladly go back

Really care about good food. Stunningly good food. We were a large brunch group & set upstairs in a bar as the pastry chef cooked in a kitchen before us. At first this felt crowded but it was fascinating & quite meditative to watch him prepare beautiful tarts & pastries from the start. Our breakfasts took their time (with a serve of free muffins to keep us going) but they were innovative & tasty

Consistently excellent food. I have eaten here on several occasions throughout the last 12 months. I have to say I keep coming back for the amazing coffee and lamb shoulder hash for breakfast. The sunshine coast zucchini flowers are a good option also. It is very refreshing to see an established cafe offering more than a "big breakfast" or "scrambled eggs".

Always impressed. I have been there a few times, different days and for lunch and for dinner. It never seems to amaze me. All the restaurants who offer great service, staff are friendly, happy, the food is amazing, drink list is extensive are the places that are happy for you to pop in at 2.45pm or at 8.30pm, when really they should be turning you away because they want to start to closing down or the chef's have to have a break etc. But Pearl always accommodates us. Each time, everyone is impressed with location, decor and food. Always a great time and choice.

The only negative I have to say was the prices were a bit over the top with the Sunday surcharge. $9 for a milkshake, my mushroom sandwich was almost $20... Pearl - Woolloongabba, Brisbane. In the heritage listed cul-de-sac, the city image is a world and era apart from what is a literal stone's throw away. There is a charm to this small area, with a few shops lining the pavement including two of Brisbane's most favouritised places to go for breakfast; Pearl is one of them and known well-round for people familiar with the close-by area. I had the opportunity with my dining buddy to go here, and a third wheel - my brother-in-law jumped at the opportunity for a breakfast out; it was a Sunday so it turned out to be the Sunday brunch instead - but I digress. It was good.
There is an undeniable European influence to this place in both the menu (as well as the approach to the meal's presentation and vibe) and decor. It was almost like eating at a fancy place in Paris. The lighting was just right and I could not ask for more lovely and appropriate service to the place.
As always, it was my habit to order a double-shot cappuccino beforehand then to peruse the menu. I did not have to peruse for too long, as when the waitress explained the specials of the day - the spanner crab omlette - I requested that as it sounded good and somewhat different. The omlette came with a green salad on the side with a preserved lemon dressing and served on top of a slice of sourdough toast.
The cappuccino was good and strong with a great body and smooth texture. It was a Genovese blend and that is one of the top blends in this area of the world. Afterwards I got a latte and it kept up the game of this place serving a decent blend in a cup.
Keeping up the European front, the crab omlette here was really subtle in flavour and well cooked. The flavour came out serriptiously and the flavours from the salad did not interfere with it and vice versa. The sourdough toast was cooked lightly and was a treat with the egginess of the omlette on top; it was kind of a combination of being a kid yet having the adult pallette. Spanner crab omlette is something I have heard and read a fair few times on the menu, but had only gotten around to trying it just now - moral of the story is to try something new frequently.
There was sharing around; my brother-in-law got a croque madame which is essentially a toasted cheese & ham sandwich served with a poached egg on top (duck egg here). That was also something I had not yet tried and from the taste I had this would be some great comfort food. They used great quality cheese and ham - no blaze slapping together here; even with a simple dish like this care is given to the ingredients and preparation.
The dining buddy got a more simple breakfast with a few extra components. From his, I got to try some - bacon, duck sausage (surprisingly refined in flavour and fattiness) and tomato relish which were all top quality.
So, this place is very good and shows precision in the callibre of their dishes and meals. Why I do not like it as much as it would seem is that the prices are a little eksy for what you get. There is a bit of a surcharge on Sundays as well. I enjoyed what I had, but I would not be as willing to go back here as some of the other places that are around.
Nevertheless, there are more reasons to go here than reasons against and I will not hold it against this place. There are certainly apparent and obvious reasons as to why people know about this place and like it ergo c'est la vie.
Love it. GREAT for breakfast, if you can get a table. Excellent coffee and home made cakes. I have had some absolutely excellent breakfasts here - both sweet and savoury! The pulled pork sandwich with manchego cheese is a stand out. Also, bought a jar of the best ever bread and butter pickles.
Had the Sunday lunch recently and all of us were disappointed that the dessert (Palmiers with honey cream) was rather ordinary, and it was quite expensive for what it was too. Nobody at our table ate all of our dessert, which is very rare for us 6 girls!

Nice food. Not much is open on a boring Easter Sunday. We called past the Pearl Cafe and decided to drop in for some brunch. Most of the staff were friendly. They serve Genovese coffee. You pay a little bit more for the food, but it was definitely worth it.
Definitely one of the best. I love this place! I have been many times and it's amazing and delicious! I can't wait until I can get back there!!!
Good service and great tea. Here for a pre-work coffee at 5pm (shift worker...), I can imagine it must be annoying that I was chatting on the phone the whole time but I really appreciated their service getting me a coffee, water and later a pot of tea.
Unfortunetly for somewhere so pretentious they don't have skim milk for coffee I didn't think the latte was amazing, it wasn't bad but not the best. The tea was very good though (real leaves- no tea bags!!!!)

We finally got a chance to try pearl and we are glad we did. We came for dinner and sat outside due inside being so loud.
The service was relaxed yet cool. You could tell the staff here actually love there job here.
We came as a small group and ordered one of everything from the menu. Everything was yum yum! They did however forget our sides but all was forgiven when complimentary dessert was offered.
Great. Had lunch here on a Thursday. Very impressed with everything. Excellent service and food superb. Will be back for more

Pearl is a Real ‘Gem. A stylish European-looking café that serves local foods from around the neighbourhood, if it isn’t already made in their kitchen, Pearl may cost a bit more but here you do get what you pay for!!
It had been a Saturday afternoon (5 Jan) when my partner and I went searching for a little tide-me-over when we came across a cute café that was one of only a handful of restaurants open.
Pleasantly greeted by a couple of the staff behind the counter, they looked as trendy as the establishment itself. Answering our questions about their food, we were happy to hear that the ingredients used were local and some of their items on the menu, like breads, came from nearby Banneton Bakery.
My partner went for the house-made Lemon Tart slice ($10) and I ordered a Flat White ($3.50) and a Chocolate Biscotti ($4) that was in no way made in a big processing plant!
We went outside and took a menu to look at while waiting for our food. The menu was pricy, with only 4 mains to choose from ranging in price from $26 -35. That being said, we did realize from our conversation previously that it would only be of the highest ingredients.
Our food arrived and my partner’s lemon tart was not as tart as would have hoped, but still a delicious lemony flavour that was also not sickly sweet. Fresh and well-made, it certainly was worth the price.
My flat white was strongly bold and not at all bitter or burnt. Thick, as if made with whole fat milk, it was sinfully smooth! Dipping my homemade biscotti into my coffee, it was of decent size and when tasting it, it too was not overly sweet. It did have a significant heft to it with chunks of semi-sweet chocolate and various wholesome ingredients to keep one going.
While enjoying our goodies, another waitress continuously topped up our water and was an absolute delight to chat with. She took us upstairs afterwards to see the Servery, another part of this café that hosts a Chef’s choice meal and entrees on select evenings, for $65 per person. Thinking this was a neat idea, this is something my partner and I would definitely come back and try!
Just by popping in at a random spot for a little snack, we uncovered a fabulous gem! The pride of the restaurant and what they serve is written all over the staff’s faces. Trendy, stylish and quaint, this is truly a place that you will feel appreciated at, while feeling like you’ve been away from it all!
Good a little expensive for the portions on Sundays. I went ther last Sunday for the 1st time and ally enjoyed it. I had the smoked salmon and my partner had the beignets. I do admit that for the price (20% increase on Sundays) it was a little small. My partner was still hungry after his dish a little disappointed. However it was really delicious. Try it out!
Had a lazy Saturday afternoon tea here, excellent biscotti and coffee, and friendly staff who really knew their product and craft who were happy to accommodate for our off menu request.

I personally have never had a problem with the service, every time I've been I have been served with an absolutely lovely waiter, and even though you may have to wait a while for a table if you don't get there super early, its worth the wait.
Diana. Have been hanging out to try Pearl for quite some time & today was the day as I just arrived back from hiking in NZ & needed a hearty b/f. A wet morning & the place was crowded at 7.30am but we managed to get squeezed in at a table outside with the pooch in tow! The service was great waiter & waitress most attentive, however they did get the coffee order muddled, I received mine & the partner didn't, soon was rectified however. We really enjoyed our b/f, I had the creamed corn with chilli & coriander just one fabulous chilli hit to start the day, was totally yum. The partner had the special which was a crispy lamb baquette, he was impressed also. The coffee, when it did eventually arrive, after the mains (we like it before) was just perfect. The prices were a little high (not for the coffee) but hey one gets what one pays for & this is top food, bravo Pearl!

Best cafe in Gabba. Always crowded, the food of this little cafe is excellent. Imaginative cooking and a good combination of european and asian flavours. Particularly on the weekends, its the perfect place to spend a couple of hours reading the newspaper while enjoying good food.
Beautifully furnished, great for weekend brunches. They also have an upstairs area that you can exclusively booked for up to 16 people. The cakes on the counter are amazing and you can order it and take one home from $60. I highly recommend the flourless chocolate raspberry cake with chocolate ganache.
Excellent service, lovely seasonal menu. Bring back the pumpkin side dish! I can't remember what was in it but it was freakin' amazing! Worth eating here just for that (though there are many other reasons).

Great. This is one of my favorite places to dine. It is based on organic food which is a bonus. A small cafe and sometimes hard to get a table, however worth the trouble. It is delicious, fresh and unique. The only issue is trying to understand the menu. I tend to have to ask what most items are. I would recommend this to most people and whenever someone asks to catch up for lunch, this is the place I want to go.

Lovely little cafe.... This is a great spot for breaky, lunch and dinner. Good, healthy tasty food... The staff are quick to look after you, the only problem is finding an empty table!

Great Breakfast. This was my first visit to Pearl for breakfast. My friend and I had situated ourselves outside to begin with however a larger group came in and we were asked if we would not mind moving to another smaller table inside. We agreed, we figured what's the difference, and were rewarded with complimentary coffees. To me that's USA-tipping level service, but without the incentive of tipping. Very impressed.
The breakfast was equally enjoyable. I had the breakfast sandwich (which was too big to eat as sandwich) and my friend had the ducks eggs. The servings were big and the quality was outstanding - it's a rarity to get both. Never underestimate how much 2 males will value serving size. :)
The only downside was the sheer volume of noise coming out of the place. It's quite cosy, so I guess that has something to do with it. However I was surprised how quickly that howl became background white noise and I was able to hold a conversation comfortably.
All in all, I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Simple yet Satisfying. I finally got to have myself a Pearl breakfast, and the expectations were definitely met.
The coffee was made beautifully, if anything a little to strong but I put this down to the size of their mugs (not much bigger than a cup). My husband had the chai tea (can't have caffeine at the moment poor bugger). It had such a wonderful aroma wafting from the tea pot and was served with a side pot of honey, nice touch.
Our meals couldn't be flawed. I ordered the perfectly poached eggs on toasted French baguette with sautéed mushrooms and frites, while my husband ordered the Ploughman's Breakfast which comes with a melt in your mouth piece of salted beef..om nom nom.. as good as my German grandmother used to make.
I believe the breads and pastry's come from Banneton bakery, which is also one of my favourite places to visit in the area so you know even the toast will be amazing here ;)
Pearl is truly a rare one. I can't wait to try the lunch menu, I imagine it can only get better.
Had the twice baked souffle, milkshakes, ploughmans and pork chop. Coffee was great. Good service. The pork chop was a little overpowering, otherwise excellent fare. The barista claps to summon the wait staff, which is annoying and makes me feel just a little too bougie. But hey, for a thirty dollar breakfast, why wouldn't I feel that way? Come expecting a wait.

Yet to be convinced ... Had lunch at Pearl for the first time recently after many recommendations. Found the food a little over-priced and the tables very crowded together - so dining was cramped and noisy. Service was average. The cakes were lovely and fresh and the variety on offer was excellent. Of note - the gnocchi was absolutely amazing - beautiful flavours and a reasonable serve! However the duck sandwich was VERY disappointing - dry, lacklustre and had way too much bread to filling!
I would definitely return for coffee and cake - but might try breakfast next time!

Consistently Good. I've eaten here a few times, and generally the food is tasty and well priced. Tables a bit squished together, so its not a place for a particularly private conversation. Always busy!!
We visited on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Wait for a table 10 minutes was forgotten with the yummy coffee and food. Coffee made well. Inside air conditioning was cold which meant we had to eat quick as the food was going cold. Food excellent - pancakes and eggs on toast with side of salmon were both delicious. Service by our waitress was terrible. No smile, spoke softly and rolled eyes and huffed when asked questions about the menu. We wanted a second round of drinks but waitress never returned despite attempts to get her attention.
Hmmm, what can I say.. Awesome Food. Well if you are after one of the best Brissie Bfasts, then this is the spot. Simple as that.
If you can get past the short wait for a table (unless you are an early bird) then you are in for a delight of a meal. Service quirky, Coffee excellent, Food to die for.. Duck Eggs, or Awesome Bacon (best I've enjoyed.. ever) and a great little spot, centrally located. Parking an ease too. Try it.

If only they were all this good!. Had a fantastic brunch at Pearl yesterday (Friday). We took the last seats and had our fabulous flat whites delivered promptly. Strong, creamy and not at all bitter. The wait for food just bordered on the "okaaaay, ready now" territory but the cafe was full and when ours did arrive it was top notch. Baked duck eggs for him, baked ricotta for me. Deceptively sized servings, they were filling and balanced and my side of bacon was ridiculous.... Like a huge slab of smoked ham, it was delicious. Service was polite, unobtrusive. Yes the prices are high but the quality sets Pearl apart from many others. Recommended. P.s. if you sit outside be sure to ask about the specials....we only saw them on written on the board when we went in to pay.

I've heard great things, and with a visit to Pearl this week I experienced great things. Milkshakes to-die-for, varied and delicious meals, and an amazing cake range with serving sizes that will give you a food hangover into next week.
Went for wednesday night dinner. Food was beautiful and reasonably priced. Dessert was def the highlight. Friendly staff and great service.

Great experience.. Originally from Melbourne, and in Brisbane on a short mid-week break to visit my sister, she decided we should try the Perl Cafe for lunch.
The cafe itself ticked all the boxes required that would make a great eatery.
The food is honest, not pretentious and of great quality.
The tables are closed together, a bit rickety. They are dark. The brick wall gives it a rustic feeling that I'm used to when visiting one of the many cafes in Melbourne's hidden lane ways.
Naturally, at first thought, I thought The Perl Cafe was going to be a complete disaster due to its premise and location. Brisbane, I thought, should attempt to attract a different demographic.
Alas, how glad I was to be wrong. The cafe was full on a Wednesday afternoon. We were escorted by a lovely waitress to our table, who proceeded to explain to us the daily specials (all which looked amazing), and left us to decide on drinks.
For such small venue, which was filled with so many people, the attention we got was spectacular.
I've dined at many fine restaurants, and even those with prestigious hats don't offer the warmth and quality this little place did.
At least, after trying to decide on what to get, I chose the rabbit which came served on a terrine-like dish with crusty bread and an amazing salted butter.
The quality of the food was superb, the produce was obviously local and, most importantly, seasonal, and the prices extremely reasonable.
The staff attentive, charming and alluring.
All in all, when I return to Brisbane, I know what I will be requesting for lunch.

Its all good. Had coffee there many times. Never had a bad one. Feels like havin a cuppa with friends with the homemade style cakes that will blow your mind.
Great food. Generous portions. Had the specials - ham hock terrine then rabbit ragu with p/delle. Some bones in the ragu, but flavours were fantastic.

Perfect Pearl. Pearl has always been one of my favouite breakfast (and dinner) places. The breakfast menu has the basics (which suit me best) as well as special dishes which make up large selection to suit everyone. The decor is simple and stylish with it's unique "classic" charm, all due to Dan's (owner) eye for perfection. Usually there is a small queue on the weekends, but hey it's worth the wait - that's why there is a queue! Great Genovese coffee served by efficient and polite staff, no wonder I keep going back!
Always had friends warn not to go during peak busy times, so I didn't. Friendly service and great food. My coffee was luke warm but they were more than happy to make me a new one. Can see why not to go when busy it is very small. They also have cakes on display that you just want to dig a spoon into! Next time.

Aside from the food being utterly delicious, the great thing about Pearl is the knowledgeable and confident staff. It gets fully booked regularly and food arrival time can be impacted, but not a big deal as it has a cosy ambience. We are regulars!
Having already enjoyed breakfast and lunch here we went back for dinner knowing the food would be great. It was but we were let down by the drinks list. No light or mid strength beer available meant our designated driver had a problem. Come on pearl please put options for people who are driving.

It was a delicious meal (all three courses) and there was plenty in each serve. I wouldn't say it was too expensive at all, costing less than $50 per head.

Like It. I've tried Pearl twice in the last two weeks. Breakfast today (Apple & oat loaf w quiince butter) and Blackberry crumble cake and coffee last week. Simple delicious food. Great atmosphere. I can understnd why it is so popular. Will definitely return.
First try fine. This was our first try of this restaurant. Service staff were very friendly and really knew their stuff. They quoted all ingredients and any specials without any reference to menus. Food was quite exceptional and timely. Only small issue was the line up of tables and close proximity to your neighbours which could not be helped and didn't detract much from the positives.
I love eating here! the food is always delicious with a frequently changing and imaginative menu. It is such a beautiful restaurant with a lovely vibe. One of my favourite breakfast spots!
Great food, great service.. We were looking for a dinner experience with great food in a less formal environment and found all this and more at Pearl Cafe. Highlight of the entree was the anchovies with garlic bread and lemon which was presented deconstructed with spanish anchovies and bread with whole roasted garlic cloves - sensational.
The mains were highlighted by a quiet table punctuated with little exclamations as each diner tried the next mouthful. I had the quail (which was explained as an entree size) but was more than enough when coupled with sides - recommend the kipfler potatoes with 'stinky cheese'. The quail was cooked perfectly and worked beautifully with the cavolo nero, jus and grapes.
The room has been kept simple but stylish. We were warned when booking that seven people would be cosy as they do not usually cater for large groups; it wasn't uncomfortable, but I agree that you would want a maximum group size of six.
The staff were fantastic and we'll definitely be back.

Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner lovely fresh seasonal food. Mouthwatering thyme roasted chicken and sandwiches with flare. A must try for Brisbane though recommend making a booking.
This vegetable pasty was something else however and I could taste the quality in the first bite. It was rich and tasty and utterly delicious.
When the dish arrived I could immediately tell that Pearl delivered a simple and stunning breakfast, which smelt and looked wonderful. The breakfast was layered with toasted sour dough on the bottom, a one centimetre thick (yes, 1cm thick) piece of bacon, the grilled asparagus and whole cherry tomatoes covered by the scrambled eggs. The eggs were lovely and creamy with the right amount of seasoning and were quite dense and layered, which is just the way I like them. They tasted amazing, really good and were well supported by the little red and yellow roasted tomatoes, which packed heaps of flavour.
Pearl is a perfect little slice of Paris in Brisbane. Their beautiful (and buttery) food is perfectly accompanied by their amazing beany brews. Their friendly staff are as good looking and trendy as the establishment itself and always greet you with a smile. Their coffee should always be enjoyed with one of their decadent brunch options (tip: I would cancel any lunch plans!).
As for myself, I have been wanting to try orecchiette (ear-shaped) pasta for a long time now, so I ordered that. The pasta was quite delicious and has crunchy bits to it.
As I have mentioned, I enjoyed the food. But quite frankly, spending Saturday morning at a chaotic cafe with every one talking over each other, people running around, accidentally knock your chair every now and then isn't my perfect breakfast scene.
I had heard wonders about the milkshakes at Pearl and so ordered the butterscotch milkshake, which was served icey cold old-school milkshake style in a large metal cup. The milkshake was thick, creamy and literally the best thing I have drunk in a long time. I have dreamt of this milkshake ever since.

We felt slightly rushed by the waiter who kept coming over to check how we were going and then set the bill on our table. The place wasn't packed and there were plenty of empty tables. I'm not sure if I'm reading the "hurry up and pay and vacate" wrong but one of my absolute top cafe hates is being rushed. At restaurants and eateries, I can understand, and anywhere that's really busy... but to me, cafes are for relaxing and enjoying and chatting.
To avoid disappointment we got up early for Pearl Cafe! The cul-de-sac is packed with heritage houses and antique shops... and people waiting for breakfast! Woolloongabba has become a fantastic dining hub in Brisbane with award-winning 1889 Enoteca, Cross

We had the ‘trust the chef’ collection which was great value for such beautiful food. There was more than enough food and my particular favorite was the risotto and pasta main dish. Friendly service and beautiful setting. Lovely cocktail list too.
A small charming cafe in Woolloongabba. Service was prompt and lovely. I love their breakfast menu because there is variety and I'm tired of having the same and usual breakfast options with cafes. We had Croque Madam and KFC for breakfast and it was yum. The croque was a little too greasy for me though but it's still good.
Quick service, great food and happy staff despite the current restrictions. Owner came out and checked on the food which I thought was great. No kids menu at the moment but the chef made up a fancy fish and chips for our young grandson.
Most amazing gluten free breakfast ever! Nice portion sizes and buzzing atmosphere. Will be back!

First we were warmly greeted at the door, and for a party of 8 plus 4 kids that is no small thing. The decor is elegant, with a great jazz vibe. With such a big group we were accommodated in the pastry kitchen (!) upstairs.
The food was excellent. My wife ordered the Pork Belly with chipotle bread special of the day. Fantastic - and the addition of the spiced bread was welcome. The kids shared the buttermilk pancake and while they found the Pineapple not to their like (hey, they are kids) the pancake was a delight - perfectly light and cakey with crisp edges.
But perhaps the best plate of our morning was the rolled mushroom omellete containing a triple brie river wrapped in the middle, and wonderful notes of truffle layered throughout. Very few times have I had to pause after every bite, looking off into the distance self-reflectively like an idiot because the dish before me is so good. Well done Pearl Cafe, well done.
We shall be back!
