Happily and luckily, hubby and I were able to meet up with Mr. L., my old workmate last week for lunch. We headed to his side of town, and had lunch here at The Pepper Lounge. It’s a nice, large space inside with outdoor seating too. The interior was quite dark in the winter sun, but would be great on a hot summer’s day We had prompt, friendly service with tasty food. I chose the salmon fillet, which came with a citrus salad. The fish was nicely grilled on top, but was a wee bit overdone for me, as I prefer it medium-rare. The salad was refreshing, and came with orange slices, avocado and cherry tomatoes. There were some green leaves and red onion to add extra flavour. Hubby had mushroom risotto, which came with a garnish of cherry tomato and leaves, and a generous sprinkling of parmesan. He really enjoyed this dish, even though he felt more mushrooms would have been a fine thing. We shared the sweet potato chips, which were delicious – a bit crunchy outside, soft inside, with salt lightly cast over them, and served with a creamy sauce (aioli?). Mr. L. ate the chicken and halloumi salad. He said it ‘was fine.’ A man of few words, but he ate it all happily. Pieces of grilled chicken laid over a salad of leaves, tomato, and halloumi. I drank a mocha frappe, while hubby had a passionfruit and mango smoothie. Both fine. Mr. L. had a green tea; also fine. Even though the closing time was one pm, they kindly didn’t chuck us out then. It was great to get out of the house, and enjoy a pleasant (and good value) lunch with a friend, corona-virus restrictions notwithstanding.
I would’ve given them 4.5 if the rating had allowed me to.
Everythingwas good. Service was good, waiting time was reasonable. Food was tasty, good price and good portion.
The only problem was with the coffee. It was extremely hot and a bit milky.
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor tables with lots of car parks available. You can also do your fresh grocery shopping after your breakfast from the fresh shops next door.
I usually visit for coffee rather than a meal as I shop at the nearby IGA. My Cafe Latte today is an improvement on my last coffee here. I enjoy this hot flavourful coffee. Thank you guys!
Great breakfast, generous portion, fresh produce and good value! Always friendly and attentive staff, so lucky to have this as our local ! Thanks Pepper Lounge
Had breakfast here today.. Was unexpectedly wonderful! Great coffee & my serve of mushrooms was generous. Partner was happy with his "big breakfast" too. Only complaint was the hollandaise sauce was runny. We'll be back!
Wonderful surprise for a local cafe! The coffee is the best around and food is incredible! Modern, fresh, delicious and inventive. Staff are wonderful to boot!
Excellent food, great atmosphere, excellent staff, friendly and engaging, good arrangement of choices and even better breakfast is served until 2pm....
Highly recommend
Ok, no perfect views, but the food was amazing, I ordered prawns with a pumpkin style pasta, bloody beautiful, best I've had in Brisbane so far.. So don't turn your nose up at this little gem who's hidden away xxxx I'm going back for more...Sarah
January 2019 - a new owner, so a new review, and a much better score!
We revisited The Pepper Lounge last weekend, a couple of years after our last disappointing experience. We didn’t book, as usually there was only one or two tables taken.
Wrong! Friday night and the place was jumping! We luckily got the last table outside. The waitress was very friendly, brought us our water and promised to come back shortly to take our order, and she did!
Friday night is “tapas” night, they have a decent tapas menu (with a distinct Korean flavour), very reasonable prices and all the dishes we had were very tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They also have a limited a la Carte menu on Fridays.
The negatives..... we ordered 4 dishes, and all 4 arrived at exactly the same time. I would have liked them to have been a little staggered time wise, so the last dish we ate was as hot as the first. At NO point were we ever asked if we would like a drink, alcoholic or otherwise. On this night we were “dry”, but usually our drink tab exceeds our food tab with one decent bottle of wine and a couple of beers. Opportunity lost IMO.
Having said that, the food was great, the food service friendly and we will definitely be going back again soon. A new owner brings a new and delightful experience, and our favourite jindalee restaurant back to life.
Been to this local gem many times and never been disappointed
New owners have come in the last month and are trying hard to impress.
We went here NYE 2015 and all 8 meals were really nice. BYO wine saves on the wallet, and the Tuesday night 2-4-1 Pizza / Pasta is a great bargain.
Going back again tonight so will update again later
New management at Pepper Lounge, Jindalee in the week before Xmas has it bouncing back on the local scene. Delicious offerings from Chef Paul who will be familiar to many regulars, but is back with renewed zest, and enthusiasm from new owners David & Rhonda. At dinner the beef wellington went down extremely well, as did the pork belly (soft cooked - no crackling) which fell apart and was sooo tasty. The accompanying watermelon salad balanced it out left us satisfied but not weighed down. Look forward to sampling the lunch menu soon, and looking at Chef Paul's posting of his Frittata omelet with Swiss cheese, herbs and spring onion finished with hollandaise sauce...think a breakfast date will be lined up too!!
Give it a go!. I've eaten here a long time ago and I was not impressed but I think they changed management. I decided to give it another go with an ouffer voucher.
We had a lovely night and the staff was terrific! Really great service.
We had trio of dips to start, one of the dip was pate and it was too strong. I love pate but I couldn't eat it, the smell of offal was too overpowering.
Mains I had salmon and my partner had beef wellington with side of onion rings. All the portions were very generous, you would not leave hungry.
My salmon was a tad overdone but flavours were good. Partner loved the beef wellington and the onion rings were a real hit!
We finished with sticky date pudding, it was nice but nothing spectacular. We were so full that I had to take away our second dessert- the chocolate torte. I'm eating it now, it's amazing!!
If you're thinking of trying this place I think you should give it a go.
Nice restaurant in the suburbs. It was midweek where driving into the city is a bit of a pain. Hence we chose the Pepper Lounge which is just ten min drive away.
It's a nice casual restaurant where tables are not crowded and packed. Staff is nice - service is just right I think.
Food serving - the entry pizza bread was quite generous. My friend ordered the lamb which she liked it. I liked my chicken and chorizo risotto too - I can't say it's the best risotto I've had in my life, but I'm happy with the quality at this price level at this part of the town.
I'd recommend this restaurant to the neighbourhood.
Great dinner in the suburbs. Hubby and I enjoyed a great midweek meal. Attentive and efficient staff presented our entree of dips and generous portion of Turkish bread. Mains of Beef Wellington and Snapper (fish of the day) were well presented and delicious. Waiter's recommendation of Sticky Date pudding was a treat, as was the Chocolate Torte. Overall, we had a great dinner and will be back with friends in tow!
We enjoyed our entrée, mains and deserts and the service was pretty good too.
10 out of 10. What an incredible little eatery! Cold Saturday night in Brizvegas, well, for us, our bookings were confirmed and my choice of 2 set up tables inside but as there was a large birthday party happening I asked if it would be a problem to be seated outside. Not a problem at all said the cheery young lady and promptly set me up and moved the large gas heater over to our table and soon I was toasty warm. We went on the set menu for a voucher deal, but, again, you wouldn't know it and she said apart from the shared entrees, we could order anything off the menu. We shared a trio of dips, easily the best I've ever had in this popular category - 6 generous slices of evo drenched toasted ciabatta with balsamic oil, freshly made pate and dukkah ( in other establishments we've been served 3 stingey little slices of French bread so well done guys). our hearts were set on the pork belly and, oh yumm, served with smashed potatoes and a glorious dressing that I was too stuffed to try much of. The table next to ours had the beef Wellington and just the smell was enough to guarantee our return to try that own as well. Huge selection of made on premises desserts and we both opted for the salty caramel tort - again - WOW!!! You could actually TASTE the saltiness of the caramel and sublime crunchy base. There was a mystery topping, kinda butterscotchey, didn't ask, sometime you just have to enjoy every blissful bite. Well done girls, your service was fantastic and it was a great night, well be back
Fantastic staff! All very attentive and super friendly. Had dinner here and was not disappointed. The meals were a generous size and the pork belly and salmon main dishes had great flavours.
Still love it. I really like this place. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the breakfast menu in particular is awesome. Not too expensive either. The only disappointment was that in one weekend they were out of eggs at breakfast and out of avocado at breakfast the next day. When they are right next to a Woolworths and there is an almost all day breakfast menu, it's a bit disheartening.
Diana. The Pepper Lounge serves Giancarlo coffee which was quite well done & presented. I did however ask for it strong so maybe if if you like a full bodied flavour like me you may have to do the same. We had breakfast & chose from the uncomplicated menu the boston baked beans & simple scrambled eggs. My beans had the addition of mushrooms served on ciabatta. All OK & the partner who is incidently fussy about his eggs was also equally pleased. Attentive & friendly staff.
Love it here!!! Fantastic service and cute staff! Food is great & you well and truely get your monies worth.
I don't know how this place only has a 77% rating, because in terms of food quality and service it deserves far higher. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here, and I've eaten here a lot! Plus the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Favourites would be the duck carbonara or pork belly at dinner and the big breakfast or pancakes in the morning.
Great lunch today!! A suburban institution!!! The hidden gem in Jindalee, Brisbane
Great food :-). Have been to this place a few times and have had great food every time. Went a couple of weeks ago for breakfast and the foragers breakfast (basically a vegetarian eggs benedict) was amazing. So fresh and great portion size. My husbands eggs benedict with ham was great too. Coffee is great also. Staff are a bit dissinterested and seem understaffed, especially at busy weekend breakfast time. Would recommend.
Awesome. I have previously been to the Pepper Lounge for breakfast and always enjoyed the food. Last night we went for dinner and words are not enough to describe how awesome last nights Fish Special of seared Salmon was, it was Seared salmon with 'fancy named' potatoes(can't remember), bacon and rocket, with a buttery dressing. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the vegetables lovely also.
Not one crumb was left on mine or my husbands plate, just awesome. Thanks so much for a wonderful meal out last night.
Highly recommend the Pepper Lounge for a meal, always relaxed atmosphere and delicious food.
I have been here 3 times in the past month! Breakfast is average but lunch is great, especially the beef lasagne. Great place if you are a local looking for a decent coffee. If you have an entertainment book card you can get 25% off the bill.
Awesome service, presentation, food. Just got home from a wonderful dinner at the Pepper Lounge. It was a very cold night out but all patrons were snug inside. All meals at our table were top-notch. Presentation beautiful and hubby's Beef Wellington was lovely and tender. I have eaten here a few times before as well and have never been disappointed. The wait staff were very attentive and wonderful to our 2 children. Thank you Pepper Lounge!
I love pepper. The Pepper Lounge has AWESOME food, the chef is extremely talented! It has a cool atmosphere for any kind of occasion a great vibe, and appreciated the great service!
Pleasantly Surprised!. Wasn't sure what to expect when going here with a group of 9 for dinner. But came away from the evening with a great experience. Service was friendly and the food came out in really good time. Most at the table had pasta dishes, me included. The pasta was obviously fresh made and was lovely. I had the Duck Carbonara - great balance of ingredients and delicious soft duck meat. My wife had the prawns pasta dish, also delicious!
Surprisingly some of the best pasta we've had in Brisbane. Good little suburban restaurant. A great night all round.
Great food. Great environment. Great staff. Defiantly will be back.
Very Impressed. We recently had dinner at The pepper Lounge for the first time, and was very impressed! we were attended to straight away with great service.
The food came out quickly after we ordered, i was given the wrong dish but the problem was fixed promptly. The food was outstanding, the service and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We cant wait to dine there again.
Fabulous Food for Thought. My family and I decided to head to the Pepper Lounge this week for dinner. To sum up in one word how the meal played out - fabulous. I have had bad experiences preciously at other restaurants with their services, but Pepper Lounge's staff were friendly, approachable and considerate. Pre-dinner drinks were generous and at a reasonable price, including the mouth-watering hot chocolate my daughter ordered (as I was told a number of times that night - the best chocolate she has ever had). The meals themselves were excellent. I had the Pork Belly while my family's meals included the Fish of the Day (Barra at the time), Chicken Breast and Eye Fillet. Although the serving sizes left little room for dessert; you didn't hear us complaining! After our choice desserts, my husband's being the Hot Mocha Pudding (which he has demanded me to find the recipe), we left the relaxed atmosphere of the Lunge to sleep off our meals. I highly recommend the Pepper Lounge if you are looking for a family friendly atmosphere or merely a place to grab a quick coffee. It will definitely be in my thoughts next time I want to eat out.
This is a local gem. Breakfast os always busy The coffee is great and the service very friendly. Tucked away in a little shopping village, I can't wait to have Ddinner here.
Nice place for dinner!. I have been visiting urbanspoon website for a long time. Today is my first time to comment. I visited Pepper Lounge this Wednesday night. This delicate place attracted me the at first glance. I went in and took a seat. Nice setting. I ordered pork belly as recommended by the friendly waiter. It tasted fantastic. The service was good. This is really a place to have a wonderful meal.
Excellent service. They do bfast until midday on the weekends. Great value for money and relaxing atmosphere. Had the potato rosti with poached eggs and bacon. Very filling and delicious. Best rosti I've ha in aus!! Iced coffee came in interesting glassware and hot coffee had perfect milk froth. Normally don't like going out to bfast, but this little cafe has converted me. Bravo pepper lounge!!
Great little spot does a good breakfast, coffee but there smoothies are the best.
Lunch Menu Lacks. Pepper Lounge is a great place to be. I find its lunch menu tends to lack a little with whats available. Dinner is almost perfect.
Great relaxed atmosphere. They have good specials with 2 for 1 with some cocktails every Friday night, as well as a Shop-a-Docket in the local stores for a free meal. The food is always good, I go there often and have never had a bad meal. Good service, and all round a good night out!
Styling itself as a bistro from the city in the suburbs, Pepper Lounge is tucked away in a quiet shopping corner of Jindalee, behind the public swimming pool and off the beaten

I really feel that the Pepper Lounge has a lot of potential as a great dining destination – and let’s face it – there’s not a hell of a lot of competition out here! The menu is really nicely written with some very appealing items – they obviously know and
And icy cold winter morning and a long way from home, but we were catching up with an elderly friend who lives nearby. He really loves this place and we can see why. My friends happily indulged in big hearty breakfasts, while I found happiness in a chocolate brownie that was warm, soft and delicious. Great coffee was enjoyed by all.
Tastiest coffee, very scrumptious meals especially breakfasts. specials on during the week as well. very clean restaurant. inside & outside dining.. highly recommended
It was my first time here and I can’t wait to come back and try dinner soon. The lady that served us was so helpful and friendly and she made the best smoothie I’d ever had. The food was great and the portions were generous. I will definitely be back!
Tried this place for coffee and a bacon and egg burger as it’s close to my kids school.
Coffee is really good, but the bacon and egg burger, freshly cooked was fantastic. I’ve been twice now and each time fresh, tasty and reasonably priced.
It is so hard to get a good bacon and egg burger in the centenary suburbs, these guys nailed it!
My favourite cafe to go have breakfast, I’ve been coming here for almost 3 years and I can’t fault one thing. The owner is incredibly caring and listens to all suggests. The ladies at the front always make the BEST coffee and the food is perfect everytime.
2nd time getting takeaway from here and been very impressed both times.
Such a nice change from the usual takeaway cuisines we tend to go for, and very good value.
