Happily and luckily, hubby and I were able to meet up with Mr. L., my old workmate last week for lunch. We headed to his side of town, and had lunch here at The Pepper Lounge. It’s a nice, large space inside with outdoor seating too. The interior was quite dark in the winter sun, but would be great on a hot summer’s day We had prompt, friendly service with tasty food. I chose the salmon fillet, which came with a citrus salad. The fish was nicely grilled on top, but was a wee bit overdone for me, as I prefer it medium-rare. The salad was refreshing, and came with orange slices, avocado and cherry tomatoes. There were some green leaves and red onion to add extra flavour. Hubby had mushroom risotto, which came with a garnish of cherry tomato and leaves, and a generous sprinkling of parmesan. He really enjoyed this dish, even though he felt more mushrooms would have been a fine thing. We shared the sweet potato chips, which were delicious – a bit crunchy outside, soft inside, with salt lightly cast over them, and served with a creamy sauce (aioli?). Mr. L. ate the chicken and halloumi salad. He said it ‘was fine.’ A man of few words, but he ate it all happily. Pieces of grilled chicken laid over a salad of leaves, tomato, and halloumi. I drank a mocha frappe, while hubby had a passionfruit and mango smoothie. Both fine. Mr. L. had a green tea; also fine. Even though the closing time was one pm, they kindly didn’t chuck us out then. It was great to get out of the house, and enjoy a pleasant (and good value) lunch with a friend, corona-virus restrictions notwithstanding.
I would’ve given them 4.5 if the rating had allowed me to.
Everythingwas good. Service was good, waiting time was reasonable. Food was tasty, good price and good portion.
The only problem was with the coffee. It was extremely hot and a bit milky.
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor tables with lots of car parks available. You can also do your fresh grocery shopping after your breakfast from the fresh shops next door.
I usually visit for coffee rather than a meal as I shop at the nearby IGA. My Cafe Latte today is an improvement on my last coffee here. I enjoy this hot flavourful coffee. Thank you guys!
Great breakfast, generous portion, fresh produce and good value! Always friendly and attentive staff, so lucky to have this as our local ! Thanks Pepper Lounge
Had breakfast here today.. Was unexpectedly wonderful! Great coffee & my serve of mushrooms was generous. Partner was happy with his "big breakfast" too. Only complaint was the hollandaise sauce was runny. We'll be back!
Wonderful surprise for a local cafe! The coffee is the best around and food is incredible! Modern, fresh, delicious and inventive. Staff are wonderful to boot!
Excellent food, great atmosphere, excellent staff, friendly and engaging, good arrangement of choices and even better breakfast is served until 2pm....
Highly recommend
Ok, no perfect views, but the food was amazing, I ordered prawns with a pumpkin style pasta, bloody beautiful, best I've had in Brisbane so far.. So don't turn your nose up at this little gem who's hidden away xxxx I'm going back for more...Sarah
January 2019 - a new owner, so a new review, and a much better score!
We revisited The Pepper Lounge last weekend, a couple of years after our last disappointing experience. We didn’t book, as usually there was only one or two tables taken.
Wrong! Friday night and the place was jumping! We luckily got the last table outside. The waitress was very friendly, brought us our water and promised to come back shortly to take our order, and she did!
Friday night is “tapas” night, they have a decent tapas menu (with a distinct Korean flavour), very reasonable prices and all the dishes we had were very tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They also have a limited a la Carte menu on Fridays.
The negatives..... we ordered 4 dishes, and all 4 arrived at exactly the same time. I would have liked them to have been a little staggered time wise, so the last dish we ate was as hot as the first. At NO point were we ever asked if we would like a drink, alcoholic or otherwise. On this night we were “dry”, but usually our drink tab exceeds our food tab with one decent bottle of wine and a couple of beers. Opportunity lost IMO.
Having said that, the food was great, the food service friendly and we will definitely be going back again soon. A new owner brings a new and delightful experience, and our favourite jindalee restaurant back to life.
Been to this local gem many times and never been disappointed
New owners have come in the last month and are trying hard to impress.
We went here NYE 2015 and all 8 meals were really nice. BYO wine saves on the wallet, and the Tuesday night 2-4-1 Pizza / Pasta is a great bargain.
Going back again tonight so will update again later
And icy cold winter morning and a long way from home, but we were catching up with an elderly friend who lives nearby. He really loves this place and we can see why. My friends happily indulged in big hearty breakfasts, while I found happiness in a chocolate brownie that was warm, soft and delicious. Great coffee was enjoyed by all.
Tastiest coffee, very scrumptious meals especially breakfasts. specials on during the week as well. very clean restaurant. inside & outside dining.. highly recommended
It was my first time here and I can’t wait to come back and try dinner soon. The lady that served us was so helpful and friendly and she made the best smoothie I’d ever had. The food was great and the portions were generous. I will definitely be back!
Tried this place for coffee and a bacon and egg burger as it’s close to my kids school.
Coffee is really good, but the bacon and egg burger, freshly cooked was fantastic. I’ve been twice now and each time fresh, tasty and reasonably priced.
It is so hard to get a good bacon and egg burger in the centenary suburbs, these guys nailed it!
My favourite cafe to go have breakfast, I’ve been coming here for almost 3 years and I can’t fault one thing. The owner is incredibly caring and listens to all suggests. The ladies at the front always make the BEST coffee and the food is perfect everytime.
2nd time getting takeaway from here and been very impressed both times.
Such a nice change from the usual takeaway cuisines we tend to go for, and very good value.
