Review Botero House - Brisbane

Amira Alharsi
The coffee was very bad. Flat white. I tried a good avocado toast. I ordered another coffee, the cappuccino was somewhat better than the first one.. Unfortunately, I will not repeat the experience. I expected it to be better than that.

Great little coffee spot. The house Espresso was great in my strong flat white. Will have to try their other beans another time.

I love everything about this cafe, 3 storey building with exposed brick walls. My favourite is the Mushrooms on toast with the mini French toast. For lunch my all time favourite is the Hot bowl and they are the best at coffeeeee..... :)

Order: oat flat white Verdict: Really great coffee, the flavour is just right for a good coffee experience, it's not bitter or too milky which is hard to come by in the CBD. Coffee wasn't too expensive, and service was fast and easy.

Visited on a weekday for brunch, quiet and nice place. Coffee was great and food was nice, the open steak sandwich was great, although the crab lasagne was a bit fishy.

I had the Chicken Katsu Sanbo which was a surprise when it turned up. It wasn't a traditional Japanese chicken curry plate but all those flavours wrapped up in a sandwich. The milk bread reminded me of French toast and the flavours were fantastic. You can get a side of fries and aioli for $5 more. This menu item sold out while we were dining so it is a popular item for good reason.

Overpriced, average food, spent $30 on a ‘big’ breakfast and wasn’t big at all. Came out cold, the bread was just your standard coles slices and the eggs weren’t even properly poached. Only giving two stars cause the coffee was nice. Big rip off overall, would’ve been better off going to the Brazilian joint down the street

I've been here twice in a month, once for brunch with a friend and another for lunch with my mum. Both times have been fabulous. Definitely recommend the crab lasagne 😁.

Love the coffee here, taste good. Breakfast is tasty. There are not many pastries available to choose from if you are not ready for a meal.
Lighting is very dark in the place.

Very tasty food. Fills you right up. Service was good too - arrived half an hour before my booking and the staff let me sit at my table until the booking. Very good service and polite employees.
Food was great. Coffee was great. Atmosphere was very nice and rustic - 3 stories tall. Will be going back.

Finally checked out Botero House thanks to a lunch meetup organised by a foodie friend, who of course knew to get a table by the window on the 3rd floor for the best natural lighting 👌

I was thinking about the blue swimmer crab lasagne but half the table went for that option so I thought I'd try something different, and went with the sardina estiva, $20 - orecchiette pasta with marinated SA sardines, broccolini, almond and chives topped with parmesan, pine nut crumble.

This was pretty nice, full of sardine-y flavour, complemented nicely by the pasta. Also got to try some of the lasagne, the gnocchi, and a duck risotto. Lovely lunch catchup to end the working week.

We went to Botero for a quick breakfast at 8am on 21/01/2020. The cafe was not overly crowded or noisy as there are three levels. The venue is well decorated to look like it would for the age of the building with a touch of a steam punk vibe. We ordered a classic ham and cheese croissant toastie, medium flat white and medium matcha latte from the front counter, which came to $15. They do have full table service but I thought ordering from the counter would be quicker. We sat on the third level, it had big windows overlooking Adelaide street. Our food and drinks were served promptly. The toastie was delicious and crunchy. The flat white was fine, nothing special. The matcha was a bit weak. Overall a decent experience and we would return.

Discovered this place during their free coffee day! Loved the coffee so returned for their incredible cookie and breakfast! Loved it and returned for lunch. Loved it and returned again to find what I think is Brisbane's best gnocchi! This is a must visit if you're in Brisbane. There's nothing like this multi-story cafe!

Three story building situated in the middle of the Adelaide St, but it is unlike any stores in town. Coffee and food are on the spot with the reasonable price.

Was wandering around town & happened to notice this gem. Coffee & service spot on. My flat white was very smooth & rich with a hint of chocolate mouthfeel. Perfectly presented in a pretty cup

Possibly the best breakfast place in Brisbane CBD! The food looks stunning and tastes even better. The avocado dish looks like a piece of art more than breakfast. Can’t wait to try out the lunch menu sometime. Coffee is really great with very smooth nutty finish. Very interested to try the other blends to! Will certainly be returning for more!

Currently, my favourite cafe to go to in the city if I also want a snack/ some light food or catching up with friends.
loving the spacious feeling with several stories, and on the top floor natual lights coming in and able to look down the busy city.
food wise, loving the small serve of sandwiches, like Reuben/ chicken, just go with a cup of coffee, perfect for office ladies.

This must be by far the most beautiful cafe in Brisbane. Three stories each with its own unique feel and atmosphere! The food is exemplary and beautifully presented. The dine in menu is great but I keep coming back for their exceptional takeaway options! The carrot cake and chia seed pudding are my favorites when in a rush. The sandwiches are also fantastic if they’re not sold out!

Working in the city has undoubtedly many perks. One major benefit is without a doubt, the abundance of good food surrounding my workplace. Being an avid fan of coffee and brunch, I am always on the hunt for a good boutique cafe, so it was a nice surprise to receive an invite from Botero house, a mere stones throw away from my office to try out their new menu. With Iron Fist off cavorting in Chicago and having the time of his life, I took another colleague of mine, Spiderman (Tom Holland Spiderman, not Andrew Garfield or Toby Mcguire) to go and try it out during our lunch break last Friday.

Dined in at Botero House on a Friday for lunch and were very pleased with our experience. The quality of food and service exceeded our expectations and we were highly impressed. The environment is very contemporary and more upscale than your regular cafe. As we were seated we were immediately brought out some table water.

The first dish we ordered was the 'open steak sandwich' which we were informed was a customer favourite. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The rump cut had been cooked to about medium which is personally, my favourite. (Perhaps inform them if you would prefer a less or more well-done piece). The steak was sitting on some fresh rocket and a beetroot hummus that had been spread on top of the sandwich. The beetroot hummus was delicious - it had slight tangy but subtle flavours that did not take away from the flavours of the steak. This dish came with a side of polenta chips - which I cannot highly recommend enough. These are hands down the best polenta chips I have ever eaten. These chips were still light and fluffy on the inside without crumbling and falling apart like some I have eaten previously. They were served with an aioli which perfectly complemented the flavours of the polenta. This dish was a winner in my eyes and for all of its elements, definitely worth its price.

The second dish ordered was the slow braised duck ragu. Once again, we were not disappointed with this dish. Whilst the serving size of this dish was slightly smaller, it was certainly made up with its flavours that packed a punch. The duck was pulled a part and very tender and well seasoned. The gnocchi had a soft, pillowy doughiness to it. The salmariglio sauce at the base of the plate was so tasty and added a delicious savoury kick. The roasted onion added a slight crunch and sweetness to the already savoury dish. The grana padano shaved on the top added a different dimension of cheesy texture. Overall, a fantatic dish with several tasty elements that all complement each other perfectly.

We also ordered a matcha late ($5) which was very tasty but certainly had a twist on the traditional matcha latte. With the first sip of the latte you can certainly taste the matcha latte flavours. As you continue to drink the latte your palate picks up on some other earthy, spicey, herby flavours. The latte is very aromatic and tastes as though chai had been mixed through. It certainly was not what I was expecting but it was not bad at all.

Overall, we had a fantastic experience at Botero House. With lovely staff members and fantastic food it is safe to say we will definitely be returning. I would love to try their breakfast and their other lunch menu items!

Really enjoy the coffee (it's very smooth)! The upstairs area makes it a bit different from other coffee shops in the CBD. Breakfast and lunch always fantastic when you want to sit down and eat - I highly recommend the gnocchi, both veg and non-veg options are delicious

I have been here many many times now, definitely my favourite cafe in the city. Incredible staff, coffee, venue and food. The lunch menu and specials are fantastic! Pictured is the pasta special from a couple weeks ago. Must checkout this place if you're in the city!
3 Broke Lads
Incredibly cool vibe in this place with seriously tasty coffee and food. We’ve been back a couple times and always delighted by the fantastic service and food! The gnocchi and avo on toast is a must try!

Coffees are very nice and there are some nice light lunch options. We had a couple toasted sandwiches which were pretty good value at around $6, although a bit small as you might expect. The thing I like about this place is the upstairs dining area, which is an interesting and relaxing escape from most typical coffee shops in the city.

Market fish (salmon) was amazing! Very light and fresh! Potato salad on the side was just perfect! 5/5

Chicken and pumpkin laksa was great! Not traditional but a twist. Nice flavour in the soup. 3.8/5

Salmon and zucchini linguini was a miss. Had pickle in it so overall it's a bit sour?? Maybe its just us that didn't like this type of flavour 3/5
Wonderful place to go for lunch! I had the trout which had a beautiful mix of flavours and was light and tasty. I love finding places in Brisbane that do an affordable ($20ish) lunch at a really high quality. Will definitely be back again.

Beautiful ambience and their coffee probably comes directly from heaven! I love how you customise your coffee to the level of even choosing the coffee beans!

If you're wondering where to head for brunch or breakfast, take a step in Botero! Last I heard, they are making their way to Melbourne and Sydney! Kudos!

I'd rate it higher but it's the service that lets it down. The coffee is good but waiting 20-25 mins before work isn't. They really need another machine or have staff not take their time to make coffees during the morning rush and these hidden mobile orders they get for 20 coffees. I've stood there for 10 during the slower periods watching staff stand around and have chats with each instead of making coffee. It really sours the entire experience.

I just had a coffee and croissant with my girlfriend and I loved it. The place is really nice with worm interior, the coffee was good and the croissant was crunchy and fresh. Will be back to try something else

It's just so great! Favourite café in Brisbane City! Lovely food and cafe with great services! Don't remember how many times I have been there!

There aren't too many venues to have breakfast within the CBD which are conveniently located close to work, so I was excited to try Botero after a friends recommendation.

The cafe itself and menu were both visually appealing to me, unfortunately I had a bad experience with my meal. My eggs were meant to be poached but instead came out hard boiled.

The staff were courteous, attentive and apologised for the inconvenience which I was happy with & overall the experience wasn't too bad, but not my greatest first experience.
Lineabon
Brilliant service; such a happpy & friendly team. Coffee was quick & delicious, and the almond croissant was to die for! I saw some scrambled eggs go past - I will definitely be back to try them. Incredible place, will be back

Finally, another great coffee espresso bar in Brisbane CBD! Great coffee, very unique blend, perfectly roasted, bold flavours, it's just perfect!!! Every sip is flavoursome!
The Espresso Alliance
Affordable breakfast menu, well made with high quality ingredients. Well made coffee, I recommend trying the single origin bean. Sprout Artisan Bakery pastries, so popular they sell out by 9.30 most mornings! Botero also open on Thursday and Friday evenings for Tapas but I haven't made it in to try yet! Love the decor, they've converted an old, heritage building. A great spot in the CBD for a good quality locally roasted coffee.
Dolce Bunnie
Occupying an entire 3-storey heritage building, Botero offers delightful food and coffee that makes it the perfect lunch spot. In addition to the daily specials written on a blackboard, the page long menu offers five mains and three sides.

Update 9/2/17
There have been some improvements. The omelette was delicious and the table service has improved. Definitely somewhere I'd go back to if in the city again

Original 6/4/16
I only had the coffee which they seem to specialize in. The service was organized but a bit slow. The coffee was ok but I've had much better in Brisbane
Foodieinheels
Had a simple breakfast here - scrambled eggs on sourdough and a flat white. Service was excellent - attentive and friendly, even taking the time to refill my water after I finished my meal. Love the urban decor, two levels of seating and beautiful design of the cups. My coffee was very good - not the best I've had in Brisbane, but still enjoyable and worth returning for. Food was delicious - they know how to scramble eggs here and the chutney complements it beautifully. Will definitely be returning to try the buttermilk waffles, which look amazing!

Excellent service, this is my regular morning coffee spot now. The atmosphere is great and I use the app to order my coffee ahead of time. It is always ready when I walk in and I don't have to wait at all!

Stopped by Botero on my way to work this morning. Their coffee cups caught my attention straight away and I am in love with them. My coffee was nice and smooth and flavoursome making it the perfect pick me up to help overcome my Monday blues. The pastries looked delicious and I am regretting not trying them.

We visited to try their tapas menu and sample some beers. The venue was really interesting with a great fit out, and the service was great. We really enjoyed all of the food we tried and ordered seconds of some dishes! We will definitely be back.
