First time to Govindas at West End and first time to West End since I was 10 or 11 years old. WOW !! A foodie like me will have a field day here.... Anyways, about Govindas the decor was more basic then I was expecting , however I did not come for the decor, I came for the food. I was invited by friends and yes the food was good. It was Vegetarian. It was healthy and delicious and it was in abundance. Great service, great food and delicious banana pudding. You can not go wrong with $12.70 for the feast plate inc their lemon and ginger drink and you can have seconds. Thanks very much , I will be back !! SARDS
If you're looking for some meat of any kind you better skip this place. If you're looking for some cheap, tasty, and guaranteed you won't leave hungry food then this is a good place. Come for the food and not the decor.
Govinda's West End is fantastic value for money. The food is flavoursome and you won't leave hungry! Don't expect gourmet but the affordability is the winner!
Great value especially for an all you can eat meal, and healthy and very delicious food. Meals are complete with generous main, dessert and drink. Whenever I eat here I'm never disappointed!
Myself and a fellow vego friend were venturing through West End. Of course, there's literally MILLIONS of options for us when it comes to food. After strolling down Boundary street several times we eventually decided to go for a nice quiet lunch at Govinda's. We both ordered the small meal which came with a vegetable curry, rice, vegetable koftas and flat bread. We sat down at a table overlooking some of West End which was quite nice.
The curry was tasty, so warming as well. There was a mix of vegetables, potatoes, carrot, capsicum and the sauce wasn't too strong and overpowering. The koftas were GREAT! They were covered in a tomato sauce which was to die for. The rice was good and accompanied the curry well. I actually really enjoyed my meal!
Govinda's is a lovely little restaurant, great for a quick meal. There's vegan options including desserts. I think Govinda's a bit underrated, I hope to see more people enjoying their hearty curries soon!
I really like this place. It's cheap, clean and the food is good. Don't expect a sit down restaurant with table service, it's just a small selection with a cafeteria style interior, but the dozen or so times I have been here have always been good. The staff are really friendly too and were happy to switch my friend's desert to a vegan desert at no extra cost.
This place is a pretty straight forward affair once you find the entrance. Do you like vegie food? Well Simba, you can have whatever the light touches for $13 here...
Love this place so much! The all you can eat feast is so so delicious. Everything is vegan except for dessert - you just have to ask for the vegan option (which is either a delicious raison/date ball or vegan choc mousse)! Such good value as well - about $11 for all you can eat (students) and a bit more for adults! Comes with a delicious lemon and ginger drink to help digest the food. Has a really cool west-end vibe as well.
Curries and rice taste amazing. Their dessert tastes amazing, their kofta balls used to have more flavour, I found when I went yesterday, they were really bland, even with the sauce. All that for $11.90, it is an amazing deal. 😊
Amazing vegetarian food! Amazing value- the feast meal is below $15 and comes with curry, Dahl, rice, salad, kofta, pudding for dessert and fresh ginger lemonade. The kofta balls are absolutely delicious.
I came here on a friends recommendation a few weeks ago. This is not like a traditional sit down restaurant. In saying that it's uniqueness is exquisite! The extremely reasonable price point and the large quantity of vegan and vegetarian food available is amazing! For the price of 1 meal I has several days of leftovers. Despite being vegan/vegetarian the complexity and depth of the food is amazing! This is an amazing restaurant that is Brisbane's hidden treasure. I would strongly recommend a visit!

A hidden secret in West End. It's off the beaten path and the entrance is up a flight of stairs and through an unmarked door with opening hours on it.
This Govinda's amounts to an outlet for the main kitchen in George Street. All food is brought in fresh each day and therefore meets the usual quality your associate with Govinda's.
The dining area is cosy and the area is air conditioned. You can get the feast option for $12.90 and there are no restrictions on how much you can have.
If you don't want to gorge yourself, you can get a plated selection without halva for $10 which is very reasonable.
I struggled to go back for kofta seconds at lunch and as I write this review at 5pm I'm still feeling full.
Now I know it's here I'll surely be back again.
