Review Milano's - Brisbane

Great lunch vibe especially on a sunny day. Staff were friendly and attentive. The spaghetti carbonara I got was delicious as well as the berry lime mocktail. Only downside is the mains are quite expensive for a casual, order-and-pay-via-app-yourself type of restaurant. Their happy hours between 12pm-1pm and cocktails 4-6pm on weekdays.

This restaurant / cafe is located on Queen Street Mall near the St George bank. I ordered a Carbonara which came out better than expected. Price-wise I think it was a little on the expensive side considering there are other restaurants which offer and river-view dining and tables with table-cloth that charge less than this restaurant. The table I was on was a bit sticky as well. Staff were very friendly though, and ordering is done online.

Friendly staff. Enjoyable place to eat drink and relax. Not loud, so can have a conversation without yelling. 😊

Booked a table of 7 online, received confirmation email 3 days ago but was told by staff that they did not get our booking, nor check it. Pointed us to settle with 2 separated tables outside (non-moveable) , lucky I got a 6- seated table when the customer left and just requested for another highchair. Ordered our meals, but always asked cutlery for most of the meals served. Settled with a regular knife for steak, cant be bothered asking the staff again. The food is below average and customer service is very poor.

Went to this nice looking restaurant with about 20 people. Those who ordered individual meals enjoyed them but most of us ordered pizza to share. VERY disappointing. The bases were cooked with some toppings thrown over it (uncooked), hardly any cheese, and one that was supposed to have prawns had 1 on after searching for it. Hope they improve for any future customers.

Nice place to sit down, catch a break and have a meal. Also not quite as busy as other nearby eateries. Food was served to us relatively quickly. As for the food, I would recommend to avoid the cheesy garlic bread, as it was terrible. Some sort of thick creamy garlic spread, a dairy free substitute perhaps? The rest of the food filled a gap. Nothing much more then that to say unfortunately.

Will give 5 Star's for the food . The reason I gave 4 was the service not sure if she was the manger but no smile at all she sat us at the table said order from the scan code no other options walked off was not only me it was done too . The other young lady was brilliant. Smile's full of life I actually wanted to walk away but glad I didn't. The other waitress made it worth it to stay. When you are paying $30 plus for a meal you expect a nice reception.

Fantastic vibe for a Sunday morning. Light and airy yet warm on a winters day with the heaters. Food was quick, fresh and a good serving. Coffee was excellent.

Great service and attitude from the red haired guy. Would come back just for him

Thanks Milano for my delicious large Chicken supreme pizza with the thinnest base in Brisbane. The toppings were evenly distributed and excellent flavour of the Chicken and vegetable pizza. Thoroughly recommended, especially with Australia red or Craft beer like Larry Your mates or Ten toes pipeline.

10/10! Such a pleasant place for dinner, I had gnocchi carbonara and even though it wasn't a menu option the chef still made it for me! Left very pleased & full! Will be back 🤟🤟

Have had lunch/dinner here every time we come into Brisbane..........Went yesterday to lunch.......Sat down and had a beer (ie a pint 30 minutes to drink) while waiting for a menu that never turned up as the 1 waitress (yes only 1) was too busy cleaning tables from previous guests. Cant blame waitress as she is only be trained by her peers...........Very disappointed as we both look forward to our meals here....We left and went to cafe brisbane were we had a very nice meal.

Walkabout around the City and I see Milano at the top of the Queen Street Mall. My last meal here was a Gnocchi lunch but today I am after a quick caffeine fix. The Barista is pleasant and service is quick but my Cafe Latte is weak and lacking flavour, rating a 3.5!

Yummy pizzas. Excellent crust and good selection of ingredients, well cooked. Especially recommend vegetarian offering.
Excellent service. Be back.

Had dinner with colleague on my business trip to Brisbane. We shared big plate of seafood combo. Nice place, strategic location. Reasonable price.
A Guide For Your Appetite
Delicious meal but overpriced

After walking for 1 hour in Brisbane trying to find a decent sit-down restaurant / bar that is lively with good atmosphere, we stumbled on Milano.

The experience was great as there was music, TV and good bunch of people at this restaurant. Both my wife and I are fasting for Easter so we were not able to eat sea food, meat, chicken or dairy products. We ordered Bruschetta as an entrée and hands down this was the best we have ever ate and this is coming from a person who is very fussy with food. We also ordered a bowl of chips with aioli sauce and this was also a good entrée dish.

For mains because we were fasting we asked for risotto with vegetables and for them to takeout cheese and chicken. The waiter did say he can make it for us and is happy to put extra vegetables if we liked which was very nice of him however he did recommended we leave cheese because otherwise the dish will be bland. My wife and I decided to leave cheese but take out chicken. The Risotto came and it was in a good portion. Not too much but not too little. Mine was perfect, however my wife’s dish was full of chicken. Being that we were tired and not wanting to send the dish back because 1, we would have either waited another 20 min for the dish or 2, the chef would have probably taken the chicken out himself, waited 20 min and then reheated the dish to make it look like it was fresh… anyways after taking out the chicken we continued eating. The Risotto was delicious and all the ingredients went well together.

Even the lemon lime bitters that we ordered were very crisp and fresh. I think they were missing a mint leave, if they had this, it would have been a 10 out of 10 drink.

Overall the atmosphere and dining was great. PRICE…. However…. I probably would have paid that price for a 5 start restaurant in Sydney CBD. I was absolutely shocked to have paid $98 for 2 rissotto, bowl of chips, bruschetta (2pcs) and 2 lemon lime bitters. Such would have cost $70 in Sydney CBD. Not too fussy to ruin a night and question the waiter… I was happy to pay it.

Would I go back to this restaurant, probably for a few drinks only next time I am in Brisbane, but can’t say I would to dine in. If it was enclosed with a great view and proper dining arrangements, then I would be happy to pay $90+ and dine here.

Milano in Queen Street mall- easy access if you are staying in the city, and great menu. Staff were quick and friendly. We ordered the seafood special; prawns, moreton bay bugs, calamari and salad and fries. Huge meal and all fresh. Fabulous. Can get a little noisy on a weekend evening but otherwise a good night out.
Heather
Fantastic and friendly service. Was a pleasure to enjoy time here.
The food was amazing. I have been here several times now and always had an amazing meal.

Used to be a great restaurant but its lost it touch, We had a couple ceaser salads and steak sandwiches with a beer. Steak sandwich was okay but salads were terrible. Salads are $24, expensive and just horrible.
Nicole Reeley
Came here for lunch almost as soon as we landed. Had a salad. It was nice but nothing to right home about. Lacked a bit of imagination to be honest. The drinks are pricey, but in their defence, the rents are probably high. There are better places very close by
Mea
Came here two times with friends, the service was fast and the beer was good and a great place for chilling out when the weather isn't so hot
Karen Philipson
Ordered take away coffee today and yesterday. Both days customer service was rubbish. Price also a lot more expensive than day before without valid reason.
Manimik
We ordered Bolognaise Spaghetti and garlic bread with champagne , the food was average. The price is really overpriced for that type of food. The waitresses was good and smiling all the time but may be in a hurry to clean-up the table so asked whether I finished my dinner while I was still eating. A little weird situation for me. It took a while to place the order because of not so descriptive menu. May be they should have a digital type of menu for each table.
NoNonsenseNosh
Utter shit. Ordered an apple crumble that stated it came warm. Not only was it cold, but the custard was cold too and the strawberries that accompanied were badly bruised. I'm not sure how they got the crumble onto the plate as it was mushy and so thin it fell apart. The icing on the cake, as so to speak, was that it was $13.50 and they didn't care for any feedback. To be expected I suppose as they'll only attract tourists who'll never return. It was a nice setting though, although I'd only recommend having a bottled beer here in the future (but check the sell by date on it) as other people's food looked nasty too. Real shame as I love apple crumble and was looking to treat myself.

Milano margarita pizza, one of the worst pizzas ever served to me. Politely let waitress know I didn't like pizza it was extremely soggy (I ate 2 pieces & left 6). Asked for a discount was offered a token gesture $5. I am not one to make a fuss so what choice do I have? Annoyed!!
Reynaldo
Awful food overrated price. Tries the calamari which was very salty. The pizza was tasteless as well. The service was slow, not because the staff being slow, but because they are understaffed. I mean come one 2 waitresses only for the entire place. Good point: the waitresses were trying their hard to keep smiling despite how busy it was

I've had breakfast here. And lunch. And also, dinner. The staff are the best and the food is the great. Don't complain about the staff, it just means that you've got some other things going on in your life. Like you've paid too much for an iPhone.

Love Milanos. Great staff, impeccable service, fantastic food. I would recommend to everyone for a good feed and great drinks!

Terrible service. Took some out of towners through the City Sunday lunchtime and stopped in for beers and some meals. The cafe was quiet and we happily enjoyed out first round of drinks. We decided to stay on for lunch ordering bugs, prawns, salads etc. An hour in and the bill is now well over $200; our group is into the swing of making an afternoon of it ordering several more rounds. This is when a waitress delivering some of our meals knocks over our guests three quarter full pint. Not only did she not acknowledge her mistake but after throwing a bucket of water under the table all over our feet in a meek attempt to clean up, her and her manager refused to replace the beer....after questioning it, she came back and slammed down the smallest glass of beer you've ever seen and made sure we knew she wasn't happy. Really Milano?? Really? Your establishment was the least patronised on the strip, which it often is, and you want to treat people like that? We had all intentions of staying on however your attitudes forced us to promptly leave and we won't return. It's a shame you're not taking advantage of the renovations down the mall and trying to persuade the clientele from down there into your cafe instead of convincing us all you are quiet for a reason and we should stay away.

Only so so. Walking through Brisbane on a beautiful Sunday morning I was attracted to this gorgeous little cafe in the Queen Street Mall. I love the look of this cafe. I found the the menu for breakfast quite limited and the wait staff weren't that attentive. We waited along time for our meals and when my husband a second coffee to go because he liked the coffee they got the order wrong and then we waited another 15 minutes before deciding to go to the counter to ask for it as we paid for the bill. So a little disappointed that such a pretty cafe that let's you enjoy the world go by can not deliver equally good food and service.
Bec
For $4 a coffee...pick your game up. latte hot and bubbly ...bitter! yuck!!
Kat
We had breakfast here today and being a Sunday morning it was hard to find anything open. We had a beautifully perfect breakfast the coffee was divine and very quick friendly service. I would highly recommend having a breakfast here and it's great being that they open at. 7am on a Sunday

Best brekkie in a while! I loves it!
Juxtapose
Atrocious. Terrible service - decided to stop serving breakfast 10 minutes early despite the menu being showing breakfast and taking our drink orders.
Avoid.
Meg
Consistently good quality coffee. A personal favourite of mine. I don't appreciate the $10 eftpos minimum though.
Leah Pettit
Horrible. The mojito I ordered tasted like soda water. We ordered a seafood main that was bland and had an extra strong fishy after taste, the prawns weren't peeled. When we spoke to the manager about our experience she got angry with us. The whole night left a bad taste in our mouths. Literally
Jack4075
Overpriced Beer. $9.50 for a small bottle of beer is too much. You can rip off a local once but you will not get my business again. Sorry but my wallet is now shut.

Both my husband and I have been coming to Milano's for years. We love the beautiful simplistic breakfasts and the amazing friendly staff. Our favourite staff member is Michelle who is extremely attentive and warm. She never forgets what we like to eat/drink and always greets us with a smile and makes us feel like we have come home for breakfast. With so many fast food restaurants around nowadays it is nice to have a sanctuary where you are greeted like a friend and served delicious food and coffee. Thanks Michelle and Milano's.

My husband decided to have some coffee & cake whilst I went shopping. The staff were really friendly. They serve Merlo coffee. Mr B had a large serving of glazed orange & poppyseed cake, with ice-cream & cream on the side. He said it was delicious.

My wife and I try to eat here every time we visit the CBD not so much for the food but the friendly staff and the great location. Best atmosphere in Brisbane.

Good Pasta. Flew into Brisbane, very hungry and looking for some good feed. Had Italian in mind. Bingo at Milano, ordered Mascarpone Pasta, Gnocchi & Wine. Mascarpone done perfectly. Gnocchi was robust in taste and flavourfull but can be a little "stiff" but for those who prefer the soft limpy version. Will come again on my next flight stop-over. Great place to eat some good food.

Best Pasta and Pizza. Attended a birthday party at Milano. Great pizza and pasta. There were 16 us so I was able sample many dishes. My favs were the seafood items ( don't remember the names since the host ordered the food). Pizza came out piping hot from the oven. The pasta had generous portions of prawns and scallops. Attentive staff. Easy location. Great atmosphere. Will definitely return.

Great Experience. Travel to Brisbane on business trip every other month, stay in the hotel next to it. Going to Milano every trip for sure. Most of the wait staff are professional, well knowledge of the food and beverage items, great service. The staff can even remember my preference after serving me couple of times. If they are busy, they for sure would apologise for the delay and everyone is so friendly and feel the warmth in there.
The price is a little higher than other restaurant, probably due to the location. But the quality of food and beverage experience on average is great! The signature handmade pizza was delicious. The coffee was my favourite. It's well presented and smooth.

Great Surprise!!!. Very convenient location, my partner and I worked up an appetite after shopping in Myer and we walked straight outside and seen Milano's and decided to eat there as we were famished.
I was very impressed with the service of the lovely waitresses, they were very knowledgeable of the Menu which was a pleasant surprise as most places you go to know you've basically got to tell the waitstaff what's on their menu, the overall service was a 9/10.
The food was delicious, we have travelled to many different countries including Italy & Greece and in comparison with the food we have tasted in our travels this food was right up there. My partner had one of the pizzas, he loves his pizza and he couldn't get over how fresh the ingredients were and how much flavour there was, I had the prosecute wrapped kings prawns and I must say, they were mouthwatering delicious.
Overall all, my partner and I will definitely be going back there again next time we are in Brisbane.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

Service was alright. Coffee and meals were quick. However, I could have made a better eggs benedict at home with a $2 packet sauce. Too scared to touch the tomato. Coffee was alright but nothing special. I'd probably try lunch instead.
Jadie360
Went there for Sunday breakfast because it was close. Very poor service, we had to ask twice for a glass of water (maybe because it's not chargeable?). My croissant was obviously shop bought then squashed in the sandwich maker. Horrible plastic packet of jam. Partners eggs on toast were good and so was the coffee.
Nutty
I'm surprised this place scores so low it's always full of people which I think is a good sign. I eat here often and have never had a bad experience.
DianaW
Diana. Tried the coffee here this morning mainly because there is a sad lack of coffee venues on Sunday mornings that are worth drinking in the mall. The main fault at Milano was it was not hot enough for my taste but other than that it was not bad not great but not bad!! Service was almost instantanious however, saying that they were not busy!I I have been here before late in the evening found them to be a bit overpriced but hey they have to pay their bills too!!!
Cat
Bad service - waited to be seated but was ignored and in the end had to go to the counter where they told me to sit down. Asked the waiter what cakes they had (was not given a menu) and made a choice. Meanwhile the couple next to me had finished their meals and waited to order coffee but no one came over even though staff kept walking by. In the end they gave up. Went to pay for my cake and it was freaking $13.50 FOR ONE SLICE! It wasn't even good and I was not able to finish it. On questioning the price I was told it's in the menu so I have to pay! Wtf.
Josie
Avoid at all costs. Got talked into eating here during Xmas shopping with an out of town friend. Well I warned her that the mall is a cuisine free zone but she said how bad could it be?
Talk about eat her words because the food was utterly inedible & coffee like dishwater. I agree with the other comments that say get rid of this garbage & start again!
Maree
Not bad. I've only had drinks here which have been nice. Once ordered a strawberry daiquiri which was really yummy and the coffee here is consistently good. The heaters are cozy in winter and make morning coffee quite pleasant.
Michele
Milano's. This place should be razed and started again, like all of the mall eateries. It is a disgrace that serves pig food and with the way tourists are pushed into the mall as if it's the be all and end all, well, what an embarassment when they get there.
Ruthchop
Never Again. I've lived in Brisbane for almost 10 years now and it still perplexes me that there is such a lack of good eating in the Queen St Mall. Today a girlfriend and I fell victim to the dreaded "lack of no where to eat" and ended up at Milano's.

To cut a long story short, the services was okay... one waitress was quite pleasant while another kept asking ever 2 minutes if we were ready to order (we both felt very rushed by her). The coffee was terrible, positively terrible, I mean, just awful. The food is excessively overpriced & very underwhelming; I paid near to $20 for a sandwich that quite frankly tasted like dirt.

I don't recommend this place to anyone.
Pierre The Chef
Way over priced pub grub & drinks, cascade light & full strength stubbie same price $7.30 ouch!
Konrad Niedzwiedz
Great service!. I've been to Brisbane twice in the last couple of months on business & stayed at a hotel near Milano's - my first visit was because it was close. I've have been back every night since. The location is nice, food is good (recommend the pizza), but it's the service that's brought me back. Have been made to feel very special. John and the staff have made this my home away from home.
The Chameleon
From the first bite, the issues began. The bread was, unfortunately very hard. Typically this is not a problem IF there is something to soak up, but to digest two large thick pieces of fancy toast made the Chameleon feel like this meal was going to be a chore. Thankfully, the second 'hidden' piece did absorb some of the moisture from the mushrooms, so about one quarter of it was at least digestible towards the end. The mushrooms were also passable.
Nina Will Eat
This is a simple pizza with only a few ingredients. I could tell that the tomato base was made in house. I could really taste the fresh tomatoes in it. This was no store bought paste. I was happy with the amount of proscuitto but I would have liked there to be at least one basil leave per slice. There was only 4 on the entire pizza. But again I think Pierluigi was keeping it simple which I appreciate. The base was so soft but the crust was crispy and chewy at the same time. It was the perfect thickness considering the amount of topping. So this is what hand spun dough tastes like!

So what better way of sipping a warm cup of coffee and nibbling on cute cakes and being able to watch people passing by...
