Review Pancake Manor - Brisbane

Dram Fine Idea
Open 24hrs, licensed, AND pancakes (plus a bunch of other things)..? What a great concept. Slipped into an old church building this venue has a great atmosphere and ambience under the high cathedral roof. While the service was a little lacking on a Saturday night around 8 o'clock, the pancake stacks, chips, and nachos we're all mighty fine with good portion sizes for their prices.

This place is a Brisbane icon that serves not only delicious pancakes but also savoury food. The portions are big and service time is quick. The building is an old heritage-listed building (used to be a church) so it’s rather dark inside even during the day. The furniture includes what I imagine to be old church pews, which adds to the charm. The best thing about the Pancake Manor is that it’s open 24/7. I love it!

I love coming here. The pancakes are always perfection. Ordered one of the breakfast sets, with a side of bacon. The food was delivered to the table and was piping hot, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The only down side is I can never finish more than two pancakes at a time. The food is consistently excellent. Not as many menu items as I remember from years ago, but the items on there are more than enough to satisfy. Not the fanciest pancakes you'll find in Brisbane, but sometimes all you need is a stack of buttermilk pancakes drowned in butter and syrup.

Went in at about 2:30am and the service was very abrupt and rude. The atmosphere inside was bleak and gloomy. The food was below average and disappointing. The hash brown was hard and cold. The waffles were also hard. The nachos were average. The only thing that was good was the wedges. Overall, a good alternative for a 24 hour place after a night out if you want something different from fast food and don’t mind average food.

Almost like the theme parks, an excitement as a kid but a little underwhelming as an adult. The pancakes are good, and there’s sure to be a sugary concoction to suit all preferences. It’s spacious, but offers relatively private dining options and obviously has amazing opening hours. Still, not as much of a selling point if there are chunks of the menu that are unavailable. The service was also not great… had to ask for water and for menus. Also wouldn’t describe it as knowledgeable, enthusiastic or accommodating. The vegetable crepes were all-around disappointing. I know vegetables are expensive, but I still expect the same volume as the same priced crepes filled and topped with beef! It felt like very poor value for money. The taste was not to be remembered. Risky choice yes, but bad non-the-less. Pancake desserts - had more $ in chopped macadamias than my crepes did in vegetables. ‘Maple’ syrup.

I loved the location. Nice heritage building. The pancakes and other food were perfect (5 star), but the coffee, no, I don’t order it again. I highly recommend this restaurant to others 😊.

I love that it's a pancake house that runs 24 hours a day. How about a sweet pancake at a sleepless night? It's a little ugly pancake face, but it's okay. It was good to have a lot of people at 2 a.m., and it tasted good. I'm going to try nachos next time. 😋

We visited The Pancake Manor for Sunday Breakfast and I ashamedly admitted that the last time I came here was back in 2008 after seeing a movie in town with a friend. Ever so glad that this Brisbane icon and tradition is still around and still continues to serve up deliciously made light and fluffy pancakes just the way I remember them. The building is an old heritage-listed building ( previously a church) so it has that quirky ambience/charm for a unique dining experience. Considering we arrived at 9:30am on a Sunday morning without a prior booking, the wait for a table was only 20mins. If you have friends or family in town, this is a must do or even for yourself, but I suggest you book ahead to avoid disappointment/waiting. Just lovely and happily recommended !
