Sealegs is one of those reliable places where you know you'll get friendly service, good pizza and good burgers. It will never be amazing but damn consistent. The staff are always helpful and terribly friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
Last Saturday we went to Sea Legs Brewing Co for lunch. We decided to get there through with the aid of public transport and fortunately the Brewery was only a short walk from the bus stop.
Upon arrival to the warehouse style establishment, a norm for breweries, there's a mezanine style deck above and plenty of seating on the main floor along with a dog friendly area at the front. We chose to sit upstairs which is great if you want to escape from the rowdiness of the bar area. When we went the fan was broken so it was a bit warm but when asked they put the aircon on for us.
We ordered a guest cider and a Breakaway IPA. I chose the west coast IPA as I'm a fan of heavily hopped beers. The Breakaway had a heavy aroma to it with a slight twang when it came to the bitterness to it and certainly a good kick from the stronger alcohol content to it.
For food we ordered 12 wings with Franks hot sauce and a crispy chicken burger to share. The wings were crispy and had just the right amount of kick to the spiciness. All it needed was a bit of blue cheese sauce to pair with.
The burger was delicious with the garlic sauce we chose. The chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside. The fries it came with were perfectly seasoned and they provided sauce bottles near the bar counter. This meal is great value at $16.50.
The only factor which made Sea Legs miss out on a 5 star review (for me anyway) was the lack of tasting paddles for the beer.
Sea Legs Brewing Co is located at Kangaroo Point area. It was easy to get on-street parking and enter the warehouse-like building. The interior looks very spacious, dominated with white walls, wooden tables, and string lights on the ceilings.
I came here on late Saturday, the kitchen was already closed. So, I decided to only grab a glass of tap beer. The beer recommended by the bartender was nice, light and fruity, slightly hoppy. However, the beer was not super impressive and different from other craft breweries in Brisbane.
The service was great and quick. The place was brightly lit, not crowded, and not filled with loud music. This is a good place to sit down with your friend to have a discussion over beer and finger foods. I may come here again in the future if I am around the area.
