Review The Yiros Shop - Brisbane

Matthew Terry
$15 for a Greek salad that isn’t much better than what you’d get a Woolworths extra $2.50 if you want lamb. Waited 20 minutes after ordering, wasn’t even that busy (I could probably grow a salad quicker than it takes them to make it). Prices were very high for essential glorified kebabs. Won’t be returning here anytime soon.

Being originally from Melbourne I find the yiros up here not anywhere near what we use to get down there sadly. This was an ok yiros but nothing spectacular and was more full of chips than anything else. I’d rather one of these than a kebab though, which seem to be everywhere in Brisbane.

Super tasty and nice highly recommended the kids loved the meal deals

Great staff, horrible food. Ordered the meal Deal of 2 pork yiros, chips and soft drink for ...$32. I think most people would expect a good quality meal for this price. What we got was a tasteless pork Pattie..which looked like it was fried, and chips . A complete rip off..any true Greek/Cypriot would be ashamed to serve this

This place has been one of my favourite. Today I had really bad experience. Staff members were really disrespectful. When I walked in The guy gave me a look didn’t even greet me. I ask to place an order he ask for my COVID certificate. He didn’t ask bunch of ppl sitting out. I don’t think so, we require COVID certification for dining. Still I was fine. I then ordered for dining he gave take away. Then I was having my food, girl came and straight away started taking chairs and told me to move from the table. I was still eating and after that she came back took away all cutler and serviette box. I was still having my food. At least have some basic manners. If you can’t have dining say it. Never felt so disrespectful ever before.

Don't bother paying the extra $4 to get a XL because it ain't worth the price. All you'll get is more chips than meat (of course to make it look larger than it is). Even then I was surprised how small a XL is. Paying nearly $20 for such a small yiros is a ripoff. Typical franchise business.

Chicken and lamb yiros are my best choices. Easy to order from their website. Prices on Uber eats or other apps are very different (higher)

Historically, I have always loved the Yiros Shop. Food has always been very tasty. However, the quality has decreased significantly. What you used to pay $12 for a very filling Yiros you now pay over $20 for a 'regular' which is more like a snack size. Chips used to be great and seasoned now they are hollow and tasteless.

Between two people, a yiros, chips and a can of soft drink each was over $40 which is kind of expensive for “dirty street food”. I upgraded my meal to include halloumi chips for additional few dollars but was disappointed at the serving size of these - considering the price. Plus the halloumi chips were cold and unappetizing. I ordered the lamb with rocket, feta and walnuts yiros (pictured) to which I added hot chilli sauce. The flavour or the yiros itself was beautiful and the bread was nice and fluffy. There were no other patrons eating in the store on the Sunday evening that we attended. Overall, a great concept but overpriced for what it is.

Excellent service and quickly served. Great food and customer service. Everything was cooked well, generous portion size, and served hot. Ordered a lamb and veggie yiros. Friendly staff considering the order was made at peak COVID time

Great food at an affordable price. The service was friendly and prompt. There was almost no wait for my food. It's this combination of factors that will bring me back. Thanks, the Yiros Shop Fortitude Valley.

Disappointed with my order last night. I was excited to try your version of the “snack pack”. The food is always good here but I had not been in a while so was excited to try something new out. About a tong full of finely minced chicken on top a mountain of chips with hardly any sauce on top. I will be back because your product is excellent. Really important to maintain your high standards in consistency and service. Your social media profile is great with mouth watering enticing food. Unfortunately my order last night was far from this. See you soon guys. Just remember, complacency kills.

The Yiros are the best meal from them and as the name suggests.
One portion is enough to make your stomach full. It is generally occupied during the lunch and snack time as it is very famous in the surrounding.

Ha ha such a naughty lunch! Ignored the fact that staff weren’t welcoming, our yiros, thick cut chips and Greek salad were enjoyable. Liked the fluffy pita and refreshing tzatziki. Just not something we would eat often.

Pretty tasty food. I like the chicken yiros, have had it here and another of their stores. It can be inconsistent though, I've had one that wasn't up to par and was pretty much tasteless. Other times I've had it I could come back everyday for one.

This is my favourite greek restaurant for all things Yiros. They even do Haloumi chips, seriously, do yourself a favour and order 2 serves along with a cold beer!!!! the best. Keep up the good work

The flavours were authentic and quite fulfilling. After a quiet drink or 5, it really hits the spot. As a Melbourne based individual, it is fantastic to come across a place like this here.

We visited this small shop after watching a super cheesy movie in the palace. We loved the wrap. Very tasty and simple. Staff were very nice and friendly. It’s recommended for very casual quick dining.

Absolutely loved it. I had the lamb yiros with a side of chips. So full of flavour, generous portions and great service. Recommend the special sauce. Will be back.

Ordered twice on ubereats and literally both times they forgot the pita bread. I had even mentioned in the notes to not forget it the second time but looks like they just don't know how to read. Will not be buying from again.
Guac&Roll
So good for a cheat meal or hangover cure. Went with my usual haloumi yiros pack this morning and didn’t disappoint. Other than the guilty feeling you get when you finish and realise that you need to go for a 10k run or hit the gym to make up for it, this place really hits the spot.

Wow! Wasn't what I was expecting. Presented as well as it tasted - loved the fish yiros. Amazing service too. Thank you, will come again soon

At the risk of sounding uncultured "this is the best kebab ive ever had!". You can tell they use quality meay in thier yiros, soo much flavour. The shop also has that quality feel and the service is great.
Tasty J
It's so yum, they put a lot of food in one yiro, so it's more than enough for one serve, it deserves the price and the staff are friendly. I just can't get enough of their yiros. Hope there will be more flavours.

This place really is an upmarket kebab shop. I had the light plate with chicken which was tasty but overpriced. Ambience was fine but there was a lot of cigarette smoke blowing over from the bar next door. Staff are always pleasant and friendly.

Can't believe I've never tried the Yiros shop...so glad I did over the weekend. Got the chicken Yiros with the salad combo. The Yiros was delicious! The chicken was seasoned beautifully and the sauce, chips inside the fluffy fresh pita made every bite so interesting and flavoursome. The only downside was the salad. The salad was probably 70% raw red onions...way too many onions for my liking. Will be returning for the Yiros.
Kimbo Slice
Great place for a Pitt stop snack - I've tried the yiros and the loaded fries. The loaded fries is a huge portion, definitely recommend sharing. The special sauce is a must add!

Not many places on james street have 'cheapish' options for weekdays lunch, save the Yiros Shop and Fogata Latin Fusion. Great you guys are around 😃 cheers!

Best yiros in Brisbane! Excellent service. Friendly staff. You know the rest. No fuss yiros that's very well priced. I'm definitely coming back for more
Rebecca
The bread was definitely a highlight. Overall a good, tasty and convenient meal but nothing spectacular. The meat was a tad dry and I should have added feta

Pretty damn good, love the addition of chips as a standard to the yiros. I was actually quite dubious purchasing anything from this chain since other locations dont have a good enough rep. however i was pleasantly surprised with the James St branch. The service was very good and when i forgot the addition of feta to one of my orders, they added it for free, to me that is top notch service and impetus enough for me to make a return visit. thanks guys.

ps you guys need to bring your goods to the south side.
The Delicious Pursuit
Nestled amongst designer stores on James St, The Yiros Shop is well worth popping into for your hunger fix. Priced reasonably at just a touch under $10, you’d be hard pressed to find a cheaper lunch option on the street. Whilst they may not offer an array of extras like your typical late-night Valley kebab shop, the focus here is simply on quality ingredients prepared and served by an efficient and friendly service team.

I've been through the Yiros Shop before they changed names and had an awesome experience. The meat was tasty and juicy, the bread fresh and everything was great.

But on returning recently things just weren't the same. The meat was a little dry and the service seemed a bit cold. We ordered a side of chips and the size of it was a lot smaller and we actually asked if that was normal. They threw some extra on and all was good. Because those chips are some of the best I've ever had. Crispy and soft inside.

Friendly staff and great yiros!

Huge servings when you order a plate meal and heaps of filling when you order a standard yiros.

Excellent work!
AnitaOnChi
Ah. Quality Greek style yiros that are delicious and not over priced. Seats are available now at he restaurant if you wanted to sit in! Make sure you get that "special sauce!" Yuuum!
Jondo
Horrendous giro experience, ultra fatty meat (pork), not crispy as it should be, meat not well seasoned, tzatziki which was basically yogurt, pita bread was not moist and substandard, salad was awful, the only good thing on the plate were chips which were fantastic. Sadly was much much better as 'Giradiko' - what happened??? Disappointed to have lost a favourite. Will not be back.

Tucked in amongst a row of shops, you can just see it from the road. It is, as mentioned by others, clean and brightly lit.
Had a pork gyro. The pita bread was fluffy, and browned but not burned. There were generous serves of ingredients (meat, tomato, haloumi, chips, tzatziki), and a sprinkling of dried herbs to finish it off. It was tidily wrapped up so most of it actually stayed together until just about the very end of eating. All for just under $10. A lamb gyro is just over $10. My main gripe is that quite a number of the pork pieces were gristly and/or fatty.
Overall a filling meal, tasty in the non-gristle bits. Be prepared to be untidy as you eat it though. There will be larger meat pieces that don't separate easily as you bite down, and the tzatziki will get you.

Decided to give this place a go after a recommendation from a friend. Was very tasty. Decently priced and good location. Modern setup. Friendly staff.

One of the most epic feeds I've ever had! Amazing food. Amazing prices. Amazing people. This small little gem on James St is somewhere you should definitely try out! The servings are incredibly generous for the price and amazingly delicious to match.

I got the chicken and pork yiros because I'd just finished gym and was very hungry. Don't forget to ask for special sauce!

If you've had the Yiros along Brunswick St in Fitzroy & were waiting for something similar to spring up in Brisbane - this is it! Super clean service area with a team behind the counter with a big smile. Skip breakfast & go straight to lunch with these guys! YUM

Had the lamb yiros and feta chips. Was great!
The bread is freshly cooked and the meat was so tender. A friend had the chicken plate with a Greek salad which was fresh and tasty. Definitely coming back.
Poached Egg
Warm and welcoming staff, convenient location and brilliant food. I usually get the chicken gyros and the feta chips but have been meaning to try the pork gyros as everyone seems to be raving about it. The best thing about this place is the Tzatziki, I usually ask for an extra serving on the side to eat by itself!
The Brisbane Food Bandit
Excellent lamb yiros. Authentic flavours and great, friendly service almost makes them feel out of place among the hipster phonies of their James Street locale.

Had a pork gyros here last week. A little expensive (not much change from $10) but delicious. Tastiest chips I've had which they put inside the gyros wrap! Yum!

My new favourite lunch spot in New Farm. Long overdue! Great Greek gyros and souvlaki plates. We will be back.

Sydney expansion on James Street - Part 1. Came here for dinner with the clan, wanting to do a two-part (ie double) dinner. The other clan members were not so familiar with the Greek street food craze engulfing Australia. The fact that I live close to the original Gyradiko in Bexley, Sydney gave it an extra appeal. Knowing that this food can very very quickly leave you too full to eat anything else we just did a sampler of - pork gyros in the pita, then 2 souvlaki - one lamb, one chicken. It was interesting that Easter Saturday made James St a little subdued as eating Greek food like this in Sydney on a Saturday night normally means one thing - queueing. Quality was great as usual and the clan were happy to try something new and in fact could have settled here but we had other things to sample. Had a good chat with the staff about the Brisbane expansion and feel jealous of the officeworkers who can nip down here for lunch as their local.

Gyradiko started popping up on my Instagram feed and every photo that people uploaded of the food simply looked jaw droppingly irresistible. I love gyros wraps. I love chips. Gyros wraps with chips INSIDE the wrap?!?!? Genius!

Best Yiros Bribane has seen !!!!. I tried the Pork Yiros for the second time in 3 days , I personally like Mustard instead of Tzatziki , What can I say , I just came back from Greece and can honestly say the Yiros at the new Gyradiko is just as good as in Greece in some cases far superior nice clean meat and fresh
To Mr Honest Foodies Review below
All I can say there always has to be one , Mr honest foodie stick to your Chiko Rolls lets be honest

Heaps of flavour definitely going back for more. Not sure what the person above is talking about, the meat has been marinated with amazing flavours and one of the best I have had.

Definitely try the Pork Gyros. AUTHENTICALLY GREEK. pork skewer are great also. And I have spent a lot of time on Greece. Will back very soon.
Mr Foodie
Not very good.. I dined here with some friends and thought it would be good to try. We were relatively disappointed. As this is not authentic Greek food by any standards. It honestly reminds me of a Turkish kebab from a shopping centre and not a yiros. It was very bland and this is referring to both the chicken and tzatziki. Honestly there is a lot more better alternatives for a proper yiros.
Janella
Absolutely beaurifyl gyros. Fresh ingredients, make their own pita bread, lovely and fat free meat and very clean shop. Thanks for coming to Brisbane as there is no other good gyros shop here. Janelle

Did Gyradiko Brisbane hear my dripping salivation or the growling of my tummy? They might have, for they haven’t been open for long before I got wind of them and dragged the SO down to James Street to check them out...The menu was a little Greek (get it?) to me, so I whipped out my iPhone and pointed to an Instagram photo. The staff then helped us with ensuring we got our order right, which were a pork gyros and a chicken souvlaki plate.
