Review Stones Corner Hotel - Brisbane

Great 👍 breakfast spot. Easy ordering from thr table (QR code menu). Coffees were good but what was amazing is the meals. Very generous and tasty. Yum. Will be back. I have lunched here before and and afternnon drinks. But breakfast. Somewhere to remember for the future. Open from early and 7 days

Good food and staff were really friendly :) Still good service and very kind. Caitlin was very pleasant even when we took ages to choose what we wanted. Great place for casual lunch. Always great coffee! I do like this place, I just wish they would enforce the no smoking around the entrances to the building as last time we sat behind the bar because they were doing works in the main area the stench of the disgusting smokers outside wafted in and ruined our breakfast.

I came here for lunch yesterday with a few family members, my first visit. This is certainly a fascinating place, with a blend of old charm and a trendy dining experience. The menu is very extensive, and offers a good selection of gluten-free options. I really enjoyed my gluten-free American cheese burger, a rare treat. Servings were more than we could devour, and we could take home the leftovers! The restaurant was very busy, but service was quick and the staff were very nice. We will be back!

I went for lunch. Had a tasty cheeseburger and onion rings. It was very enjoyable. I sat in a quieter area of the pub, and it was a pleasant atmosphere.

The coffee was lovely and the staff who served us was pleasant. The burgers were great, but the big breakfasts had what appeared and tasted like reheated sausages, hard poached eggs and ordinary mushrooms. The avo on feta… the feta had turned. The cost was not reasonable; for the quality.

Great food, a little pricey, but somewhat expected for the location. Would happily come back. Also highly recommend the optional extra of adding 3 fried eggs to your brekky meal, you'll get good bang for your buck

Love this place. Always come here with my friends and family for breakfast. The only time we weren't impressed was during Mother's Day 2021. We book for 9AM breakfast, we got served at 1140AM. They're so busy and I think short staff too. We got free drinks and I feel sorry for the staff. Serving customers one from the other.

Enjoyable food and drink with the verity of different foods and drinks to anyone's likening, you'll be welcomed by friendly staff, with a smile..

First time to this historic Brisbane eatery. I was with my family for breakfast on sunday. Decent sized breakfast menu and several vege options. We ordered a range of options. As per photos. 2 fit breakfasts, vegetarian works, mushroom and eggs Benedict, big breakfast and a savory mince. Everyone enjoyed the food. It all came out within 20mins. The service staff was attentive and professional. No issues worth mentioning apart from only 1 toilet bowl in the male toilets. Which I thought was weird considering how many people the place can hold, But that doesn't affect the food at all.
I will be back. Thanks. SARDS.

I was in the area and went here on a whim and from now on its my go to place for a pie floater, great price, great value, top notch food. I would go out of my way to go there next time i am craving one. my only note would be a personal taste thing that they add a little more mushy pee's guess ill ask next time they do a decent coffee too not amazing but decent and though i passed their desserts looked pretty good

Two for dinner on a Sunday. Impressed with the food, had pork belly - perfect. Very good service, attentive without being overbearing. Easy parking. Will be back.

This place is perfect for dinner if you are travelling into the city. Park your car at stones corner busway carpark and head into the hotel for dinner. Excellent range of beers on tap and amazing portion size. Kids meals for massive. The chunky chips were demolished by the munchkins. My salmon was cooked to perfection. Also looked amazing with colourful salad. Hubby got the specials ribs and steak. Ribs fell off the bone. Amazing. The steak was slightly over done. Our definate go to place for dinner. Excellent service.

Had a long day at work and just wanted to sit down and eat a meal. Walked in and a lady sat me down at a table only to sit there for 10 minutes and not even be given a menu! I watched them greet other guests give water, menus ect. Ended up leaving and going somewhere else that I could be served.

I meant to re-visit the Lady Marmalade Café this morning but it was too early @ 6:45am and they were not yet ready for trading. Walked around the corner to get a light brekkie from this hotel because I know that they start the trading very early. Approached the counter and ordered a flat white and a muffin with spinach & feta. Service is very friendly and hospitable. I was then served by another young waitress with a bottle of water when I took a seat around the corner from the counter. It only took five minutes with the food & beverage on my table. Coffee of Vittoria Coffee is always my favourite and I really enjoy it, particularly with the very good pouring technique from the barista. The savoury taste from the muffin is full of feta, which is not a bad experience. Overall, I like this hotel because it looks after the locals very well with very early trading hours, thumb-up!

Aug. 17, 2015 Rating 3.5/5
After the soup at the Louis & Son, I felt like there was something not finished yet. All of the sudden, I knew that I still had not had my morning coffee, so I walked down the road and searched for a nice cup of morning coffee. I saw a queue of peoples busy at ordering their Take Away coffees. I rushed to join the crowd. The barista was so sophisticated in making different orders from customers with friendly greetings to everyone. I have to say 'Thanks' to the Vittoria coffee which made a full stop for my morning breakfast.

Called by here for breakfast was rather chilly but they had the heaters going outside. Have to convey special thanks to the waiter who quickly had my coffee remade after explaining it wasn't strong enough even with the requested double shot. Think they use Vittorio blend. My breakfast order was the avocado with feta, which came with a red onion salsa & a special side order of red fresh chillies . Partner enjoyed the rich savory mince which had plenty of tomatoes & vegetables added to the tasty gravy. Once again excellent service so thanks

Went there for lunch, they have a lunch menu, with most items at $15. We ordered the calamari and flat head. Calamari was amazing, flat head "okay". The service was quick, polite and friendly. The bar is air-conditioned, nice decor and overall has a very airy relaxed feel.

Overall it's a nice place with good food.

Stopped in for late lunch with family, was quickly welcomed by the manager. Was immediately provided with cold water and my daughter made welcome with colouring pencils. Ordered two lunch specials. The lamb wrap was delicious with excellent balance of flavours, the steak sandwich had a decent thickness of meat which was tender and cooked well, not overdone. The beer battered chips on the side of both were hot, crispy and fresh tasting. The only small issue was the house white tasted funny, but was quickly replaced without fuss. Would come here again.

Met up with some friends for Open Mic Night at the Sit Down Comedy Club at Stones Corner Hotel - Sundays at 6:30pm.

Free comedy, $5 pints of XXXX Gold and above average Chips (3.5) make this worthy of a visit if you have no plans on a Sunday evening.

I've previously had lunch at Stones Corner Hotel a couple times and most dishes rate 2.5-3.5. Fine for a quick lunch, but not where I would go for dinner.

Good food, pretty expensive but nice for a casual date night. Would go back again. Nice atmosphere and staff were all pretty friendly. Drinks were average priced

We dropped into this pub for a quick bite to eat after a long day. The service was probably the worst I have ever experienced, however when we did eventually receive our meals the food was reasonable. In summary I would never go back.

The entire experience was very poor. We arrived to a seemingly quiet bistro with the only staff in sight behind the bar and offering no assistance as to seating or menus. After approaching the bar we were given menus and told to find a seat, we decided to relocate to a previously used table by the window purely for the view and ambiance. The table had been cleared of plates but not wiped down, it remained this way for the duration of our experience in addition to several adjacent tables. We ordered some beers and the "tapas" for two we had seen advertised as well as some onion rings and loaded fries. I strongly advise against the "tapas" for anyone considering dining there. The prepared food was visibly sitting on the kitchen pass for about ten minutes before a staff member was able to get to it. Once the food arrived we were given side plates but the table remained unclean from previous diners and we were forced to get our own cutlery and napkins as the staff were preoccupied with something more pressing apparently. The food was very disappointing. The best part was perhaps the wings however as they were in the lower tier of the platter and had sat for so long they were cold. The pulled pork nachos we're tasteless, and the antipasto portion of the "tapas" was a joke. The olives, eggplant and capsicum looked as if it had been served from a jar you could buy from your local supermarket. What was more insulting is that deli antipasto would have been and improvement on what was served in this venues bistro. The bread was toasted on one side and slightly soggy on the other and the garnish salad was either old and wilted or badly stressed from sitting under a heat lamp for ten minutes or longer. We would have offered some feedback however after the food was delivered the staff avoided us until we approached the bar to pay the bill. We had certain expectations of what to expect from a local ALH bistro, but the stones corner managed to give is such a underwhelming experience we could not justify giving this venue our business again.

A pretty decent pub with a good selection of beers, but avoid for breakfast - the service was atrocious and the meal, which wasn't too bad otherwise, had the worst haloumi I've ever eaten. Seriously, a 3 year old could have done a better job.
Food Avenue
Their antipasto platter with zesty prosciutto, deli ham, chargrilled vegetables and more puts some of the smaller offerings of Brisbane restaurants to shame. With fresh takes on the traditional Waldorf salad, a healthy quinoa feta affair and deconstructed seafood salads in lettuce, Stones Corner Hotel offers real variety for the health focused crowd.

After a nice dinner, I felt like cake. The bartender was lovely enough to offer me a milkshake because the kitchen was closed. I settled on an Irish coffee with ice cream after a brief run down of the options. Yummy is not a word I use very often, but I feel no other word could do this combination justice. It was the yummiest thing I have tasted in a long while. I sat like a big kid with my extra long spoon, sipping mouthfuls of this sweet, smooth, alcoholic concoction. It was yummy and conforting. I highly recommend it.

We came in for lunch and ordered from the specials. To be honest not very special. I ordered the prawns which were wrapped in spring roll paper. Unfortunately it was more like a hollow spring roll. The basil pesto was bitter and not really edible. My girlfriend had the pumpkin salad. Very bland and in need of seasoning and dressing. I have been told the steaks are not too bad however not what we had ordered. Service was not too bad.

Yummo!. This is the fourth time I have been here, this time with a group and the food has been exceptional, the price is good, quality great, service is good as well. Will definitely be back here again, a hidden gem that is for sure worth coming back to.

Very Impressed!. Came here not really knowing what to expect, had the $15 lunch special and ordered the 300 gram rump steak.....can I say I was Very impressed with the steak, cooked to perfection and was very tasty a great cut of meat, the mash was divine and the vegies were great to. All for $15 will definitely be back. The only downfall was that the service was a bit slow.
Danielle.meldrum
Worst experience. Waited over an hour for our meals, then they got the meals wrong, and then my rib fillet was like a minute steak. Would not recommend this place if you are looking for a good pub meal in under an hour.

Refused to swap beer for a soft drink in a meal deal for an underage dinner I believe this goes against their responsible service of alcohol? Very unfriendly atmosphere to dine felt cold and unloved. Empty when other restaurants in the street are full...

Very good service and a new (improved) chef means Stones Corner Hotel is a good choice for dinner and drinks.
For the hipsters - the best, most consistent espresso martini in Brisbane.

Left satisfied. We were not expecting much but left very satisfied with our experience. Ticked all the boxes for us. Service was adequate, ambience good, steak was above average and the craft beer was a nice little something different. Will be back for dinner some time soon. (Disappointed to learn they are not open for breakfast on week days).
Foodieofbrisbane
Surprised this doesn't rate higher. Great craft beer on tap. Food was good. Food was cooked to each order request. Nice fit out. Maybe a little pricey if you are being picky but i will be back. This place is good. Can't believe it doesn't rate in the 80%'s.

I suspect there have been some changes since the terrible reviews below. We had breakfast here on a very busy sunday where staff were getting smashed. Despite this service was great. Atmosphere good, coffee not bad and food a little hit and miss. Bubble and squeak great, savoury mince dry and unappetising. All round though much better than expected for a pub breakfast. Worth a visit.

Great for a boys booze night! Terrible if you're looking for something different. Service is atrocious, food is worse than ... I'm actually trying to think of a worse food experience other than the roadside cafe at Ravenshoe, far North Queensland in 1981.

My first experience at the Stonz about a week ago, unfortunately I selected the $28 snapper. By the time they'd mangled it beyond recognition, it may as well have been sewer river mullet (apologies to the mullets out there). To accompany my white rubbery substance (masquerading as fish), was a plop of almost dried rice in the shape if a small bowl and two handfuls of Woollies baby rocket with 4 cherry tomato halves and 3 red onion rings. How appetising, NOT!

For added sophistication, the "chef" added an artistic drizzle of regular balsamic vinegar. As if he/she thought with that touch if flair, the idiot pub-grub diner couldn't tell the difference between disgusting and unbearable.

What an absolute rip-off!!

Fantastic steak! One of the best steaks I have had and the service was fab! 10/10

Wow how this place has changed!! Great food at reasonable prices. Will be bring friends next time.

Wow !. What a place....things have gone backwards here for the better ! Fantastic atmosphere and lots to look at !! Looks like this pub has taken Craft beer to a new level and has the service to back it up. Food came out quickly and was delicious and I was pretty impressed with some organic options on the menu. This place even has organic craft beer and wine ! Parking a let down but looks like their new car park is almost finished. Staff were buzzing around like they were on fire but still were friendly and very helpful and seemed to love it ! I will be bringing my friends back here

A bit of yesteryear. My wife and myself went to the Stones Corner Hotel last night,we had a meeting in the area and we descided to have a drink there as we had a bit of time to kill. I notice there was a lot of boutique beers which realy impressed me. Tha Bar service was good and it had a warm freindly atmosphere about the old pub.We noticed they had a sign out the front "Bar Food" which didn't realy excite me, however we descided to stay and have a meal there. Well they have done themselves and injustice by having that sign Bar Food. It was far superior to what I would say was Bar Food. The food and service was as good as you can get and if not better than some of the well to do restaurants down along Eagle Street Peir, We done,a big pat on the back for these guys.

Great night out. After reading some bad reviews for the stones corner hotel, i felt i needed to share my positive experience.

Myself and five friends visited here recently for dinner and beers in the craft bar. The bar staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was great for a pub and the service was also really good.

This is a pub at the end of the day so don't expect 5-star meals and silver service ... but if you want to enjoy a great range of on-tap beers and some good food in well presented bar / restaurant ... then give the stones a go. We'll definitely be back!

Hi There
Thankyou for the chance to play at your venue. I really appreciate you supporting local music and hopefully well get to play again soon. The venue was lovely and its nice to see Stones Corner bustling.
Love the craft beer too.

Go for the Irish creme cheese cake it's amazing

Breakfast was bad. My friend ordered pancakes and I suspect they used the same batter for my corncakes!!! Hideous thick doughy batter with a couple of corn kernels thrown in. then covered in sweet chilli sauce!! Yukon! Poached eggs were cold and puny.

Times r changing. I must say it has been a while since I have been back to good old Stonz, my past experiences have not been that great. I thought I'd give it another shot.... & to my surprise , I had a very enjoyable evening.
Our booking for 6 was table clothed with a candle on the table, ( I thought that was a nice touch),the waitress was nice , friendly & polite. Our drinks & food came in good time. The presentation and taste of our meals were quite nice and tastefull, ( all my friends had good comments ). We will be coming back to the Hotel. It seems some changes are being made and the Hotel is definitely heading in the right direction.

Steer clear of the breakfast menu. A group of 4 adults and 1 child dined here for breakfast recently. The breakfast menus were limited, service was slow - 5 breakfasts were ordered 4 were delivered to the table - I had to wait for the salmon bagel which was in all honestly not worth the wait, it was disgusting. The coffee cups had old coffee ring stains in the bottom of them and when the waitress was advised of this her reaction was like it was our fault and not possibly the kitchens fault. Did we get good service -No; Did we get value for money - No; Will we as locals return to support this local venue - Never again!
Customer
Rude Staff. I have frequented the pub section of stones cnr hotel multiple times over the years. I believe I'm the perfect customer (I.e. I don't over drink, I'm friendly, I'm a big spender buying food & drinks for myself & my friends all night). Im absolutly no problem to anyone. This is probably why I get so offended by the staff at the hotel. I believe the bar staff believe the job is beneath them. they treat customers like they're rubbish. If u dare point out they have given u the wrong drink they refuse to correct it. I have experienced this bad service multiple times. The previous time i receieved attitude from the bar staff I complained to the Manager the following Monday morning. She wasn't shocked or apologetic. It appeared this type of complaint was common. Anyway, Nothing has changed bar staff think they're too good for their customers. I cannot express how going to the stones corner hotel can ruin a good night out. Don't go it's a waste of time & money. my friends & I won't be going back.
Tastybites
Saturday lunch for 4..what a let down. Waitress couldn't muster a smile, while she practically threw the menus at us & spoke to us as if our presence was an inconvenience. The food was well below par. Steak sandwhich was cold & chewy..even the accompanied chips were sad. 1 of the party enjoyed the chicken wrap, but it was over-priced in my opinion. All-in-all, would never go again..what a shame, years ago this place was fantastic for a nice pub-style lunch.
Brownbred
Not worth the price. Food is VERY average and overpriced. Much better pub food elsewhere.
L P
Great place for Friday drinks, but as for food I would recommend the hot chips and avoiding everything else!
David
Try Lady Marmalade Instead...Please. I've passed remnants of a better breakfast. Manager seemed to be on a pointless power trip (asking two guys in their mid 20s at 10am for I.D. before they ordered very non-alcoholic bacon and eggs). Bacon could have served as protection for a space shuttle upon reentry and all the butter was used in the scrambled eggs instead of any on the toast. Best avoided.
Sams
Disappointed. We had breakfast here this morning and I was extremely disaapointed cause I was craving a great breakfast! I had the big breakfast with poached eggs - the eggs were far from poached, tomato was burnt, bacon dry, baked beans looked they had been scraped from the bottom of the pot and it came out cold and the service wasn't all that friendly either. We are pretty sure that we won't be going back there in a hurry.
Nicky
WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. This is by far the WORST resturant I have ever eaten at, I eat out at least three times a week and this is the second time I have visited here in two weeks.

The food is overpriced and value is NOT given for the money you pay rougly 6-8 chips with your meal is not much at all when a $25 dollar meal includes a small piece of chicken chips and a salad.

The staff are unfriendly - rude and even swore as one of our table of 25 when one customer proceeded to advise that their chicken was over cooked as it was dry/chewy and the crust was burnt - Also told us that the Chef was insulted... well cook your food nicely and you will not be insulted!

Not one, but two staff members (including the manager) came and advised it was against their policy to give a refund and that there was nothing wrong with the meal, they argued and actually swore at the customer - this was by far the WORSE manager I have seen, the girl was inexperienced, moody, emotional, immature, rude and and refused to listen to the customer, who was rather timid and did not want to complain in the first place 45 mins later and still arguing we got out money back! This is very very bad managment, our group of 20+ who frequent every friday, purchase drinks, meals and desserts and have visited for over a year is choosing another venue.
Greg Ungerer
Sadly gone down hill recently. Food is still reasonable, but there are always menu items unavailable. Last time, we were told this was due to the chef being on stress leave. Would be good to know about unavailable items when we get the menu, rather than AFTER we have decided what to eat. This has happened last two visits. Staff need to lift their game.
Steve C
Great wagyu rump, half decent service and decent wine selection.. A bit pricey but the better of the pub chic in quality..
Alex
Food is alright, but very pricey for what it is. Gets very busy, so book ahead.

Considering it's my local watering hole, I must admit I'm a little ashamed that my first meal at the Stones Corner Hotel was only last week.
