Nacho Fries, Burrito Bowl and basically anything they do is delicious. It’s good fast food which looks and tastes good. I have my meals with queso and you should try it too as it’s the best if you love cheese
Guzman! One of the favourite Mexican food makers!
Whatever you take from here, it will vanish your hunger. Best in class burritos and the sauces. Must visit there.
Think this was the first one in Brisbane and I became an instant fan - if i only got to eat one fast food for the rest of my life I guess I know which one to pick. They are the perfect combination of fast spicy fresh and cheap 👌🔥
GYG is our go-to quick lunch spot! We're a big fan of their standard nachos and burritos with slow cooked beef - not to menion their new Nacho Fries are bloody delish. Service is always fast and friendly across all GYG stores - we love it!
Good, decent price and very filling. Would recommend and they have a selection of sauces that you can choose and some jalapeños which is a nice touch
At the office, people strike up meaningless chats at the water-cooler about how amazing burritos are. My response is "Mexican food is overrated. Please don't feel the need to strike up a conversation. I'm just trying to fill my water bottle so I can avoid kidney stones and die in peace". Lately I've been struggling to stick to my supposition that Mexican food is overrated due to my frequency of devouring spicy chicken burrito bowls. This is causing unwanted stress to my invariably melancholic life. Not really gyg's fault though.
Sometimes you think with these franchise places that it will always be the same. Not true. As The Dear Luncher ticks off yet another Guzman, it’s important to note that this has taken the title as the favourite branch. The pulled beef (spicy) salad ordered here was a cut above. Crisp, fresh and generous levels of beef for what was the smaller, entrée size. The vinaigrette they use at Guzman is a real winner for the salads. It’s pleasing to know you can be on the other side of the country and get consistently good Mexican fare at Guzman.
Another great Guzman, but it gets better... (better? surely not!) An even greater thunderstorm that totally rocked the shop! A very spacious store and a very spacious stomach lay in wait, with the big yellow logo providing the sort of much needed light from the black skies and rain that hammered down like a cue for 'the last meal on earth.'
Needing some warming and food loving after not a lot to eat that day, a mini chicken burrito was order of the day, with brown rice and guacamole at extra cost, but its worth it! That little bit of spice goes a long way on nights like this one, also...
Please note, however, if you are not that hungry, whatever you do, order the mini burrito, not the big one, or you will need a very big lie down when you get home. If however, you are in 'horse eating' mood, its gotta be the full size beast.
Another smart move if you are torn between chook and beef is this; if with partner, and you both like a burrito wrap, you come to a 'share arrangement' if one of you has one, and one the other, you can simply 'rip in half'. If its a burrito bowl, just go 'half and half' there also, and all is well in the Guzman Y Gomez eating world. Peace, hombre.
This has got to be my favourite GYG thus far. They are just the nicest laid back staff and happy all the time. I have never had an issue here. The food is the best! Before a store opened near me I would drive 35 mins just to have lunch/dinner here.
Excellent value at a reasonable price! Still as good after all these years and they do Jose' Cuervo tequila shots! Spicy chicken nachos or spicy steak chipotle burritos are awesome.
always good to walk downstairs to guzman, staff are super friendly and food is decent for the price. Fast ordering times, can order online and walk in 5mins to pick up straight away
We stayed at The Emporium Hotel and loved how our fave chain was downstairs! They did the best frozen drink around and in the scorching heat this place would literally go off. Breezy spot on the corner with great staff too. Loved the chickem butrito - loved the quesadillas. Kid friendly too!
For a chain of stores, Guzman is the bomb ! It's always my go to Mexican food !! Portions are great, service is fast and the food is exceptionally good !!!!
Oh yeah join up the Guzman club and earn free food, it's actually good !!!
Having now reached roughly 20 meals at Guzman, and never having been served a bad meal. I am perplexed as to the negative comments on the quailty or flavour of the food. Guzman is not a five star restraunt. It is a healthy takeout or eat in restraunt. People who complain about the price clearly are comparing it to McDonalds to which i say go back to Maccas. The service at times can be a bit abrupt, but guess what they are from Mexico and probably think we are rude as well. Guzman is great alternative to the other fast food we have to out up with. It is good value and a good sized portion. Im a big dude and am always full after 1 burrito.
Favourite mexican at Carindale cafe. They really got the food right, flavour and price. Would be so much better if they could offer more of a dining experience but for awesome fresh Mexican food, it's the best.
My favorite meal is the pork nachos. Beautiful pulled pork, piled fresh guacamole, black beans, not too much cheese. I add extra coriander and chille sauce.
The corn chips are fresh and authentic unlike most other Mexican places. The only complaint is that there are not enough franchises.
Mexican goodness!. I love Mexican food so much & finally found a place that does it perfectly. By far the best Mexican restaurant around. Highly recommend it!
Staff so friendly, they make ordering fun.
Best GYG in inner Brisbane by far. Around lunch and dinner times, there can be a long wait to get served. Atmosphere is authentic and the staff is friendly. Oh, and the margarita's are always great.
Frozen Margarita's!. I enjoy the ambience of the Fortitude Valley GYG! The staff are lively and friendly. It's inexpensive, filling Mexican food! I love the chicken nacho's with guacamole and sour cream, and of course a frozen margarita to wash it down with. My friends love the burrito's!
I think i'll go for lunch tomorrow!
Tasty, cheap Mexican food that is usually ready pretty quickly.
Food is consistent and tasty every time we go there to get our Mexican fix. Hard to find better Mexican places in Brisbane.
This is sn awesome spot Th.... This is sn awesome spot
The absolute best nachos i've ever had
Best Mexican in the Valley. This IS THE Best Mexican in the valley!
Excellent Mexican fast food!. I really apreciate Guzman and Gomez. I feel G&G have pretty much revolutionized Mexican fast food in Australia.
It seems the main focus of G&G has been to use fresh ingredients and it is quite apparent in the taste. Unlike almost all other fast food restraunts they somehow manage to consistently fresh vegtables.
Working in the emporium I used to go here every very often and have only minor complaints to make.
1. The recipes are not always consistent - sometimes your burrioto will have more rice and beans, :( sometimes it will be all meat.
2. Sometimes they overcook the nachos.
That being said, I would still recomend G&G because they usually get it right, and when they do it is unbeatable.
Great food. My partner absolutely loves this place he loves the vegetarian burrito and I like the vegetarian nachos minus the cheese. The best nachos I've had in brisbane so far.
Great place to eat. Parking can be awful.
Simple dining. Great atmosphere. Nice way to meet people on a Friday night. Three mains and drinks for $50 even. Nice.
If anyone can...Mexi-can!. Wholesome Mexican - we love the chicken burrito with brown rice or the fish burrito bowl. Good for a quick meal with a simple Mexican menu. Parking normally a problem in the Emporium so get there early. One of the best fresh Mex.
Yes.. I admit I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to Mexican food, but I think their quesadillas are pretty great - especially when you stuff them up with those spicy sliced jalepinos. The tacos are kind of lacking - maybe would be better with extra cheese or guac?
Delicious Fast food. Queue up, order, take a number, fill a mini plastic cup with tabasco from the dispensing pump, look for a table, can't find a table, ask if we can squeeze in on one of the long communal tables. Drink your "margarita" (poured from the dispenser frozen coke style). Finish margarita, I want another one, but don't want to have to queue up again. Never mind, the sensational quesadilla's have arrived, juicy spicy steak and pork (definitely the best choices) don't forget to add Tabasco. Its not fancy but its great, I'm a regular.
Meravilloso. Best Mexican restaurant in Brisbane!
Nothing else to say!!
Love your burritos
Favourite mexican!. Love their Nachos, no cheese (I'm lactose intolerant... these are the only nachos I know which are still amazing without cheese!), with spicy steak chipotle, which comes with guacamole, black beans and fresh tomato salsa. I also put tobasco sauce on it. Often a big queue but always served quickly.
Awesome. I am a fan of GyG, they offer extra sauces and sides for FREE and they are super friendly and quick. I'd highly recommend it =)
Awesome. This place is packed full of 'suits' getting their lunch, so lunch times are busy. Even though the place is full at lunch, tables come and go quickly. I had the vegetarian burrito and sipped on two frozen margaritas. The burrito was so filling, stuffed full of rice and black beans. This place is a winner.
Best Mexican in Brisbane! Fast, affordable and generous sizes! Would highly recommend this place over other Mexican restaurants that all seem to serve premade microwaved dishes at ridiculous prices!
We Need More Places Like This in Bris. I keep coming back here because the tacos are delicious, the staff are friendly, the service is fast, and overall it has a really nice atmosphere (not too posh, but more casual and relaxed). Best of all, it's affordable!!
Just awesome. Eat there all the time, best mexican ever, love it.....and your staff are awesome and friendly.....never dissapointed, well done!
Can't beat it.. Cheap, quick, tasty, messy. What's not to love? Recommend the hard shell tacos. The soft shell ones tend to go soggy wayyyy too quickly. Awesome sauces and something to suit everyone. Family friendly.
Good cheap eat. I love the burritos here and the tabasco dipping sauce selection is great. Its great for groups, couples or if you are just getting take out.
Love it! One of my fav places to eat at the moment. I like the nachos with beef, the quacamole and the fresh tomatoes are delicious. I tried a chicken burrito the other day and it was delicious too! Yummy :-) I eat here way too much.
Best "mexican". Although it's not tradicional mexican (because burritos and nachos are NOT mexican) it's the best place in Brisbane to eat this kind of food, I love the tacos and quesadilllas they are served just like in Mexico, tacos with 2 tortillas and quesadillas made with corn tortillas not flour, trust me I'm mexican and I like it.
South of the Border. I have struggled to find good Mexican eats in Australia however this one is top of my list. Can't go past pork chipotle burrito. Black beans and delicious pico bring zest and satisfaction to my occasional lunch times at their Fortitude Valley restaurant.
Wait...you're still here? Vamous amigo! Get to GYG!
Awesome. Great simple food
Chicken burrito and a corona - just awesome!
Nom nom. I find that the mini burrito is usually more than enough for me, and better priced than the full size, too. My friend had quesadillas once and they were tiny. The pork burrito is tasty and the best part of the whole thing is the access to infinite jalapeños and tabasco (on tap) up near the counters. Not as good as Tuckeria (near Grill'd in the valley) simply because of the lack of coriander and other options but still tasty and convenient.
Steak burrito is one of my favourite meals for a quick lunch
Yummy! This is my favourite Mexican place. Love the chicken burritos, fresh and tasty
Yum!!!. The corn chips here are to die for and the soft corn tortillas they use for the quesadillas are delicious. Love the freshness of this place
I've only ever had the chicken burrito from here & found it to be great fast food. It was tasty, satisfying & good value for money. My niece had the tacos though & it was pretty awful.
Yummy fast Mexican food. Most of the fast food restaurants are not as good as GYG is. Food is very good, I tried Tacos and Quesadillas here and they were yummi. I've been in Mexico and let me tell you that they do a pretty good job with the different items they offer. It's also a good place to practise Spanish as most of the team is from Latin America. My only gripe was the reggaeton music that is not Mexican at all and can be stressful at the time of dining.
Had the spicy chicken burrito. Good size serving. Tasted nice and fresh. Only thing was it had too much rice and not enough chicken. Overall 8 out of 10. Best Burito I have tasted
For Foodies Brisbane- Rebecca Thompson
+4.5
It just so happened that we bumped into this place by accident. Really enjoyed the food and had an awesome atmosphere to the place! Nice casual place to go for a few beers or Mexican slushies to enjoy with an awesome delicious healthy burrito and nachos yum yum! Can't wait to go back! Pricing is also very cheap good for people on a budget
Two Thumbs Up!. Great atmosphere, relaxed young funky vibe and filling mexican cuisine. Will def be back! Thanks Carindale Guzman y Gomez crew!
I like this place. Fast, easy and tasty. I agree that the staff could be friendlier but I still like it. I recommend the burritos because some other serving sizes are on the small side. But it is reasonably healthy unlike a lot of fast food and Mexican food. Actually, sometimes I eat my burrito at home after putting it in the fridge and it tastes really good. Only about an hour later though. That's probably weird though... I don't know.
I often can't justify the price for Mexican when I eat out. But this place is affordable & tasty.
Love it!!!. Very tasty, healthy and fast. Love love love it!!!
Tasty, fast, fresh and affordable Mexican!. I have tried the vegetarian and barramundi burritos, vego and spicy pork tacos, barramundi quesadillas and beef nachos and everything is delicious! The food is prepared and brought out quickly and is always hot and tastes freshly made. The burritos are generously filled with rice, beans, freshly made salsa and optional guacamole - the mini burrito is always enough for me though, the large one is definitely 'man-size'. I had never tried Mexican style fish before but the barramundi is excellent - it's crispy and spicy and possible my favourite of the 8 or so choices available. Also everything on the menu is gluten-free except the burritos, but even they have a GF option - a burrito salad (i.e. all the burrito fillings in a bowl).
A couple of negatives...there is a lot of waste, with all their food being packaged in multiple throwaway items. For example, eat-in burritos are wrapped in foil and served in a cardboard tray with a napkin in the bottom. I understand it's probably much quicker for the kitchen not having to distinguish between eat-in and takeaway orders, and not having to pay someone to deal with washing extra dishes, but it is extremely wasteful and environmentally irresponsible - especially considering how busy and popular the place is!
Also once we placed a large takeaway order via their iPhone app, and when we went down to collect it at the specified time, we waited almost another 20 minutes before they realised it had been sitting on the counter since before we got there. Have had no other experiences with the iPhone app though so not sure if it was an app glitch or just a one-off error on their part.
Pretty damn good, especially for the price.
Nice!. Had the open burrito salad (vegetarian) ..wow what a large serve! Impressed- and comes with free guac.
I usually get the burrito.
I also love their guacamole.
Great setting, large open space. Would be good for a crowd. I had the chicken burito with a corona, it was perfect.
Yummmmmmo!. Burritos are my fave thing. Nearly EVER. Having been to the States on numerous occasions and having eaten at Chipotle there, I had resigned myself to the fact that I would never again look at burritos the same way - none would ever be equal to, let alone surpass, the deliciousness of Chipotle's burritos. Until G Y G came along.
Delicious, fresh, filling, scrumptious! I have found NYC's equal, and I am a better woman for it. Do yourself a favour and just go.
Oh and keep in mind that it's about the food - nobody said this was a fine dining establishment. It's very relaxed, very fast food-y, very busy and loud. But the burritos. Amazing. Just do it.
When I was craving Mexican.... My partner took me to GyG in Newtown, and he was absolutely right to do so. We were both very happy when it opened in the Valley, it's now our go-to place for lunch before a movie at Palace Centro. I'm personally a fan of the veg/fish/pork combination for soft tacos, while he prefers the spicier options. I'd rather just leave myself the option of adding tabasco (of which they have many flavors).
Delicious food (I'm a sucker for the chicken guerrero burrito) as long as you ignore the nutritional information and post-meal sluggishness. Served quickly by what appear to be Mexican natives. Hola!
Very pleasantly surprised. Been putting off trying their food as I am not mad on traditional Mexican flavours.
At a loose end today and found ourselves in the shopping precinct with heaps of choices.
Decided to take the risk and went to Guzmans and ordered nachos.
For $13 it was actually excellent! Very tasty and corn chips crisp and yummy.
Recommend that you give it a try. Will definitely be back. Nice outdoor setting and not cramped. Only serve Corona sadly but at only $5, worth it.
Nice but my little corn chips were stale. But apart from that just your average Guzman franchise.
It's usually pretty quick, cheap, good lunch spot
