Review Cafe 63 - Brisbane

They had such a huge menu it was overwhelming and detrimental to choosing a meal. The pages just kept going! Overall it was a nice bistro style cafe, my burger was tasty and the chips cooked and seasoned well. Coffee was good and they had lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

Yummy breakfast and good service. They had a large function on at the time but still managed to get our food out of quickly (and warned us ahead of time of the possible delay).

I went it sunday morning and even though the place was jam packed, the service was good, the food didn’t take long, it was AMAZINGLY GOOD!

Absolutely Disgusting!!! Never got asked how the food was cause I’m pretty sure they saw the disappointment I left on the plate. (Pork belly & watered-down juice) If I could give Zero stars i would!!!!!!! 2 Meals 2 Drinks $77 I’d rather eat at 7/11 then return to ANY of these disgusting Cafe64 restaurants!!! 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Sad the last two meals very poor. Fruit salad on the side in my first meal was off tasted fizzy and couldn’t eat it. And this week main meal no nice fresh steamed veg like they use to be. Soggy frozen and found a hair under my fish could not eat rest of meal. Used to be my fav lunch place. :( Cafe 63 reached out to me and thanked me for review and will be following up on these issues. quick response from them. 👍

A terrible dining experience. We waited for ages just to have our order taken and that was only because the waiter was walking past and we had to flag him down. Other patrons had to get up from their tables just to have someone come over to take their order. The food arrived before our drinks did… and I ordered a frappe and just got a warm orange juice? The food was subpar at best. This establishment desperately needs some sort of management because I did not see any.

Really, really bad. The table we were asked to sit at was filthy. The floor was filthy. Why are the juices served in take away plastic cups if you are dining in? The menu is too big and too similar. When the waitress bought the food out she wasn't able to tell us who's was who's. And she knocked over a drink. There were no napkins at the tables so we couldn't do anything about it. She came back with napkins, but no cloth to actually clean up the mess. Customer service is terrible

We brunched here a while back here in March and honestly it was such a different experience to what we expected- a lot more empty because of the Covid restrictions. We ordered a Michael Schumacher $16 (Waffles top w whipped cream and strawberries and maple syrup), Apollo 11 (Stack Turkish bread top w relish, wilted spinach, vegetable Rossi, smashed avo and fresh chilli), a Dirty Chai Latte ($4) and a Cappuccino ($4). We would definitely order the Michael Schumacher and the Apollo 11 again because they were both had their unique taste and were served amazingly. The dirty chai and cappuccino were standard but we would order something different if we were back. The staff were super friendly during our brunch there, so overall the cafe experience was super lovely and we would go back and revisit the menu.

When I go for a business trip in Brisbane I always prefer to stay at Swiss Belhotel, it’s a really good business hotel, modern, clean, large and the rooms have complete amenities but its lacking one thing, the breakfast buffet restaurant that family hotels commonly have. Though it does not have it what it does have is this cafe, the Cafe 63. Cafe 63 serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, though I haven’t tried their dinner and lunch offerings I do have breakfast here always and since I travel quite frequently I had tried most of the options on their breakfast menu.

Do not eat here! I had a toasted sandwich that was barely toasted, avocado was not real avocado and had a weird tangy bitter taste. Mayo tasted disgusting. It tasted so bad that I couldn’t eat it. I just handed it back to them and gave them the feedback. They need to stop using bottled water for their tables - water is just as good out of the tap. So much unnecessary plastic. I will never go back.

I have never been treated so disrespectfully. As residences in the street, my son enjoys some downtime after university and before nightshift on the weekends. It’s a lovely atmosphere after a long day to have an iced coffee with pancakes and finish off some university work on his laptop. He’s called me several times to notify me that the staff are being rude and telling him he can’t sit in certain chairs. It’s a very quiet place in the evening with minimal patrons. I have joined him on a few occasions and have been utterly disgusted! I have contacted management over the impolite and condescending servers. The staff last night told him he doesn’t spend enough $$$

What a great discovery. It’s like the great American diner in the lobby of a hotel. Massive menu. Everything from curry to pasta to steaks to chicken and waffles. Lots of clever dishes with interesting combinations as well as all the classics. Big serves. Cheap prices. And friendly staff. Simple cafe atmosphere so not a fine dining experience. But for a great affordable meal hard to beat. Breakfast was great. Tasty fast well cooked. Dinner was Rump with prawns chips salad hollondaise and a bottle of water for $25 in Southbank!

Drove past this café many times and eventually arranged the exploration this morning. Being early in the morning around 7:00am, there were lots of off street parking. Walked in and found that it was nearly full house. Not sure because it was located at the ground floor of the Swiss-Bel Hotel or there are so many fans of Café 63 as me. Took a seat and ordered a half serving f Mountain Climb with additional Smoked Salmon on the side and a cup of flat white. Service is proficient as the other chain stores and the kitchen of this one is extra-ordinary fast. It took around three minutes to have all my orders ready on the table. Love the blue color coffee cup that they are serving. Needless to say, my flat white matched my palate perfectly. The scrambled egg was well-done (despite the fact that I love it to be slightly running) and the smoked salmon was very fresh and it is a bargain to pay extra $4.00 to have three of those. Overall, I will recommend the locals to have a go if you can find a parking spot nearby during the day.

I have to admit I have always been a fan of the cafe 63 chain ever since they opened the first one at Ascot. It's not because they have anything extra ordinary on the menu it's mainly because of the simplicity of it all. Plain simple food with fresh ingredients done well. I made up my own breakfast of sides. An avocado half with some sweet juicy grilled tomatoes, fresh chillies, & toast. Partner enjoyed some well cooked bacon, sausages, tomato chutney with scrambled eggs (incidentally well scrambled) Pooch was allowed in on the patio area & happily shared the sausages. Only grouch was slow service

Popped into Cafe 63 for a quick bite to eat last week and couldn't pass up the $4 Bacon and Egg Wrap, which includes a bottle of complimentary Spring Water.

Pretty basic - fried eggs, lots of bacon and the sauce of your choice in a tortilla wrap. But at $4 you can't go wrong.

I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second one for lunch...so did my colleague!

*****
Feb 2017
Rated 3.5

It is probably a bad idea to go to a cafe when you are craving dumplings, but sometimes convenience wins out.

My dining experience at Cafe 63 could most aptly be compared to a roller coaster ride - it had its ups and downs.

Up: I love the open concept. Despite being open to the elements they are pumping some serious air conditioning and the 13 fans keep everything circulating beautifully.

Down: My table was covered in bread crumbs and it appeared they had cleared the previous dishes without even attempting to wipe it down. Considered getting up and leaving before I ordered, but then...

Up: The waitress was there in a wink with a complimentary bottle of spring water - a nice touch. I brushed the crumbs aside and decided to give it a go. I ordered the KK (breakfast sandwich) and a Diet Coke. The Diet Coke was delivered promptly with a chilled glass filed with ice - more bonus points.

Down: The kitchen was a bit slow and it took over twenty minutes to get my breakfast sandwich. Not the quick bite I was expecting, but not so long that it was a big issue. Continuing on the down, my KK breakfast sandwich looked haphazardly slapped together, the bacon was overcooked, the egg was a bit mangled and a small chunk of my roll was missing.

Up: The KK tasted good (3.5) and at $6 represents good value for money. They also provide quality Beerenberg condiments on every table. The overall customer service was great.

A little attention to detail - clean table and some TLC when cooking and plating - and Cafe 63 could become a regular haunt for breakfast/lunch.

While I was staying in the hotel above this Cafe 63 we came here a few times for breakfast and drinks to go. It's extremely convenient to come downstairs right into a cafe and even better is that the cafe is actually a great one.

The fresh juices are lovely and the coffees are great but the food is fantastic. One morning I ordered chocolate pancakes and the next a big breakfast. The pancakes were delicious and just the right amount to not be overly full but the big breakfast was indeed incredibly big and I couldn't finish it all. Although it was great to try as much of everything as I could.

I was also very surprised at the prices because the bill for a breakfast for two was only $35-$40 for us on average for us and that's not what you would expect from a restaurant in the inner Southbank area so great value once again. I'll definitely stop into this cafe again if I'm in the area for a drink or a meal.
