Review Pho Hien Vuong Pasteur - Brisbane

Always consistent delicious Pho. Broth is full of flavour and complexity. Worth crossing the river for. I always come in with plans to try something different but fall back to my favourite Combination Pho.

I've been here twice now to get take away. The food was fine, not great but not bad either. Both times the owner or manager was the most arrogant man I have come across. I thought he may have just been having a bad day the first time, but the second time he was even ruder. He sighed, rolled his eyes and made me feel as though I was a huge inconvenience. I love Market Square and have always had great service from all of the fantastic restaurants. I will not go back a third time that's for sure. The younger staff seemed nicer, I feel for them with a grump like him as their boss.

Conveniently located in the middle of Market Square we like their Combination Beef Pho (Dac Biet) and Bun Bo Hue.

Arrived at 12PM and the seating situation was a mess. Several groups that arrived after us were seated first. Eventually we were seated and I was seated in the corner right beside a pillar of some kind. I barely had room to sit back without hitting my head but I just leaned forward to avoid this. The menu was not descriptive at all - no mention of toppings on any of the items, just bare bones names with brief descriptions. Normally wouldn't be an issue except 2 of the people eating at our table had dietary requirements. The gentleman who took our order messed up the order 4 times because he didn't bother to write it down. When the food arrived, the food had nuts which 2 of us couldn't eat. We called the gentleman over again and told him. He ignored us and walked out the back. He brings out another lady, who I suspect is one of the cooks, who didn't apologise for not mentioning the nuts. Just stated "Should have asked us to remove it beforehand" quite bluntly. She took the food away and very shortly after, the food comes back out nut-free. However, since the menu doesn't mention dietaries, another person at our table felt ill from the food they ordered. We left very unsatisfied and feeling ill. Tl;dr minimal info on menu, rude staff, poor compliance with dietary requirements. Don't come here if you want Vietnamese food - there's better options nearby

Fiest time there, nice food, bad service from the old man (owner?). I asked if he could provide some chilli as I love spicy food. He look at me as if I was bothering him, then he goes on to say about how the shop was there for 20 years. I couldn't be careless about how long it has been there, it was my first time, how on earth would I know that they serve fresh chilli and sprouts as a standard thing. Other restaurants would have told me nicely that they come as standard. Food taste good, but the service left me a bitter taste.

I went to a number of pho restaurants in the south side. IMO, this is the best. The beef broth is light and yet full of flavour. It tastes slight sweet. If you order different types of noodle soup, you get different broth, eg chicken is different to the beef one and the clear noodle is different as well. However, service need improving. Staffs are not rude, but just not friendly. They don’t smile to you. When you pay at the cashier, no thank you was said.

It’s a bit coolish weather so We decided to grab a Pho from Pho Hien Vuong. I’m strongly disappointed with the service especially the guy behind the counter. He was so rude, arrogant and as if I don’t understand anything. First, I politely asked for a menu (yes I know there were list of menu outside but we wanted to check other options and sides aswell so I rather ask for it instead of going back outside). He frowned at me and took the menu beside him and handed it over to me whispering there’s one outside. I didn’t mind what he said so I took the menu, browse and started to order. I ordered 2 special beef noodle soup and he rudely ask if I wanted to take out or dine in. I’ve been clear that I wanted it to be taked out because I’ll be eating in the common area outside. Yet, he asked me if I wanted take out or take home. I said take OUTSIDE. He then rudely said “Take home, that means you have to take it home and reheat.” I then lost my temper and I properly responded “ Yes I understand what you mean but I already told you I plan to eat outside” with an upset tone ( Who wanted to be explained RUDELY if you are talking nicely??) He said “if you’ll take it out that means it will just be on a take away bowl”. So I said, yes that’s fine. (Again, Who doesn’t know that if you wanted take aways you would be given a TAKE AWAY container instead of the normal bowl?) I also ordered 4pcs each of pork springrolls and rice paper rolls. I kept on saying 4. He AGAIN responded with a rude tone 40???? I said, 4 and showed him using my fingers. After paying. He told us to wait outside by the door. I was still so nice not walking out of their restaurant and still managed to respond properly. If there would be a zero star-rating I would give him that. You have to learn how to be professional and to have a good customer service. If you can’t just let someone else take over the counter and deal with customers.

Pho so yummy, but have to waiting on the queue

TL;DR: Without any question, this would be one of the signature places for a bite in Brisbane - particularly to an outsider wanting to know the best eats for value. It is immensely popular and has been for an age and a half. The food is fantastic, healthy, tasty, and portions that will fill anyone up—all of that delivered with diligent and welcoming service. <br/><br/>Anyone vaguely familiar with this area of town, and particularly aficionados of Vietnamese cuisine will not need any introduction to this place. In taking a few steps back and trying to look at it as an outsider, this is the sort of place I talk about a lot. Either out in the Styx, or getting out that way, hiding away for the keenest of food travellers to find. Little about the aesthetics will win awards for holiday snaps, yet it is that tiny spot the ardent traveller will urge you to make an effort to hunt down. A better way to put it is that you eat like the locals, not like the tourists - and isn't the former always better? It is not a rare sight to see a small line of people waiting for a table, and the hype is real. <br/><br/>A couple of days after Father's Day, my parents were coming up to town. That was ideal timing for me, as my present for my dad, this year was me shouting lunch out. In particular, there had been mention of hankering for Vietnamese since it is not so common - as far as I know - on the Gold Coast. A single "eureka" moment brought this beloved classic to the forefront of my mind. With that, the iron was hot, and the time was now. <br/><br/>How in the name of everything sentient had I not come here before now, that is something I do not know. Market Square has been a frequent stop-off of mine and bypassed here more times than I can count. Just as much, I look up if there are any new or overlooked places for me - this usually tops the list ... I have no excuse. Well, I believe in righting wrongs, and I can finally cross that off the list. <br/><br/>It is every bit as good as its reputation has built it up to be. Though that is with slight contention, all to do with the layout. As previously said, the aesthetics are not exactly the most inviting. At the same time, touching up the place might well make it lose its character; it could do with some sprucing up. There are two distinct areas of the eatery, helping mitigate the traffic flow in peak times. Inside is the primary location, with several small tables paired with metal chairs. Many adorned with the condiments, and chopsticks at the go. The outside seating has a more basic table, and chairs set, still with the adornment of sauces et al. <br/><br/>If I am honest as I can be, this can work positively into a place's favour. That is usually through the food being tasty, but also good value, and service that is quick and prompt. Everything is almost on the verge of no-frills, though maybe not the service - they still make you feel welcome. It is table service, which I will always prefer when given the option. Payment is at the counter, which happens after you finished your meal. <br/><br/>In the meantime, the staff are hard-working and meticulous. At no point were the workers stopping, always looking for any task to do. Between the ordering process and getting the food, it is reasonably efficient. Not everything comes around at the same time, but it is still delivered diligently. There is a reasonable ensemble of waitstaff, which contributes to a fair amount of teamwork. Throughout it all, they were diligent and at the utmost level of polite. <br/><br/>One thing is for sure with their menu, and that is it being focused and streamlined. While it is not exclusively "pho" per se, it is still the star of the show. Most of the other options on the menu are noodle soups as well, with a handful of rice dishes being the main deviation. Not too many starters are on the menu either, mainly variants of the spring roll. Where this place and many other South-East Asian eateries can properly showcase their identity is in the drinks menu - an extensive drinks menu, that has countless characteristic options. It can be the best part of the whole restaurant in several ways. You could get one of the usual sodas from the fridge, but with the other options - why would you want to? These options include bubble teas, coffee, various fruit-based beverages, and some choices which double as desserts. <br/><br/>It was all because my mom saw on the wall that they were a specialty, which was their vegetarian spring rolls. When these arrived, alongside the spring rolls was dipping sauce and half a head of lettuce. The idea was to wrap a lettuce leaf around the spring roll, then dip it in the sauce - not for me. Pretty much what you can say for spring rolls applied here. At least they were piping hot out of the fryer. <br/><br/>For getting something to drink, I went with the Vietnamese coffee - opting for it to be black and hot. There is something unique about how Vietnamese coffee; it becomes more apparent once you strip away the condensed milk. Not often have I detected the French influences in Vietnamese cuisine, but coffee is one where that becomes apparent. The flavour base was slightly sweet, coupled with a texture that is smoother than espresso. This approach took influences from the French press, which is an overlooked method of making coffee. That is perfect for when you want a more extended stay, but find that the plunger or filter produces too high a quantity. It was at the right temperature, and this was enough to ensure the meal was off to a great start. <br/><br/>There was a bit of swapping going around the table. From memory, my mom got a chicken noodle soup that also had prawns in it. I can't seem to locate it on the attached menu, nevertheless from the taste I had it was good. When we are talking Vietnamese, flavours are not as intense as many of its neighbours. If you give it time, there is flavour - mostly from the meats simmering in the broth. The meats are appropriately tender, plus only one word can exist to describe the amount of noodles in each bowl - generous. <br/><br/>As for my dad, his order was "com tam dac biet" - a pork chop, shredded rind, egg, and steamed rice. I can put my finger on how the chefs cooked the meat to an extent, but not precisely describe how. The pork was still tender, able to be pulled apart with mere chopsticks and a fork, while still having a little bit of char on the outside. <br/><br/>Those are out of the way; it comes around to my order. For me, it was time to go big or go home, in more ways than one. I went right for the "pho ta bin lu" or the combination noodle soup. Alongside the familiar broth and rice noodles was an array of meats, which would be a butcher's delight. Within the soup, there was cuts of rare beef, beef brisket, fatty brisket, tendon, tripe, sausage, pieces of chicken, liver, giblet, congealed pig blood, and beef balls. Asking for the tripe to be excluded, that was my order. <br/><br/>This sucker I ordered large, and nobody was joshing when they said the servings were generous. I watch a fair few of those food challenge videos and reckon I have seen challenges where the portions were smaller than what is in store here. What makes the deal just too sweet is the price tag - essentially everything here is under $20, which you can't argue with that. Everyone leaves satisfied at the end of the day. <br/><br/>Again, the broth's flavour was from all the different cuts of meat. Considering that the more industrial cuts of meat tend not to be so flavourful, hence it more subtle than expected. Most of the cuts themselves were tender, some merely being texture - as an example, the blood tasted of nothing. A few grungy bits found themselves floating in the broth, easy enough to fish out and put to the side. Like with bones in curries and whatnot, these merely give more flavour to the meal, and the slow cooking process melts the flesh off them. Once again, we come to the plentiful amount of noodles. They must have taken up about half of the bowl, and got cooked to al dente. The noodles in the pho soup were rice noodles - they are the Goldilocks level of thickness, albeit on the thin side. They went down a proper treat, readily absorbing the soup which allowed the noodles to slide down with ease. <br/><br/>It is customary when ordering pho that they give you a small plate of seasonings to flavour it to your liking. From memory, the selection includes chilli (which is way hotter than most peppers, my mom went too ardent when throwing them into her soup), basil leaves, and beansprouts - others I can't quite recall. None of them for me, since the broth was already tasty enough as it was. <br/><br/>Putting forth a confession, I am not that experienced with pho as a whole, so I am not able to punt how it stands with the rest of them. Though I have become more seasoned with Vietnamese over the years and will say that it is apparent why this place is so popular - and is still standing. Its main draw is the generous portion sizes, which gets coupled with good value for money. It is also the vibe which is just as relaxed as the speed is quick. There is a timeless feel to this place, where it had figured out what truly worked so long ago and has felt the need not to reinvent any wheels. The chances are in its favour that I will revisit. Pho Hien Vuong Pasteur is a fallback place, less of "sure, why not" and more of a "heck yeah"! <br/><br/>Final rating: 4.5. There is nothing more to say about here that has not already gotten mentioned.

Have it been back over one year so re-visited it last week.<br/>Business seemed not as busy as before that may due to the pandemic.<br/>We ordered a dish of four style combination rice and a combination noodle soup (medium size only).<br/>Portions are as big as before (that is the reason we order the medium size). Never see so many varieties of meats in one bowl of noodle soup and so as the rice. Although the taste is average and the noodle is not silky, CP is very high.<br/>Previous rating: May 2019 4/5; July 2018 4/5

The best Pho I have ever had in South QLD. Dont go there if you are after high dining and waiters who speak english. Clean enough.... It's a simple get up, eat, dine and leave.

It was a dark and stormy night... well actually it was a cold and rainy morning with storms forecast to come, and we were in search of something warming for lunch, specifically somewhere with undercover parking. Settled on Pho Hien Vuong Pasteur at Market Square, swayed by the presence of the new multistorey carpark 😄<br/>.<br/>But...took the wrong exit, so got rained on a little bit. Tip for next time: take the stairs/lift in the north-eastern corner for direct access to sheltered walkways on ground level.<br/><br/>Our order:<br/>* no.8 pho, $14 (large) - special beef noodle soup with choice of rare beef and beef ball<br/>* no.19 bun bo hue, $12 (medium) - spicy beef with round rice noodle soup, shin beef, steam pork, pork roll<br/><br/>I didn’t want to slurp my BBH and get the spicy soup everywhere but found the round rice noodles pretty tricky to handle with the metal spoons provided - really needs a proper soup spoon I think. Other than that I was pretty happy with this meal - comforting and totally hit the spot for the weather 👌<br/>.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>#phohienvuongpasteur #marketsquare #sunnybankeats #vietnamesefood #pho #bunbohue

Such large portions and super good value for money. The soup is delicious and the thinly sliced beef is tender. Nothing much I don’t like about this shop except theres always a queue waiting.. but the waits never too long. Would recommend to friends for a casual meal!

We ordered take away spring rolls. Amazing. So fresh, came with lettuce and sauce. Sauce was great. Service was prompt and polite. Will be back for the soup - looked and smelt delicious and the place was packed.

This place is great! We have been coming here for years and almost always get the large number 8 combination beef pho and some spring rolls and this feeds 2 adults and two children for $25. The broth is delicious and adults add chilli oil etc to theirs and kids slurp happily on noodles and pho with a splash of water to cool the soup a bit. The bun/vermicelli salads are delicious as well. Would happily eat here every week!! 😄<br/><br/>

Came around 2:30 pm on a Monday arvo. Quick service and get food very quickly. Got the combination medium size. Plenty of noodles. I’d probably get the Small next time. Good variety of meats. The soup was flavorful, but they probably use MSG for soup base as I was pretty thirsty after the meal.

Perfect for hangovers and just when you feel a little sick or are sick in general. The pho here is amazing! The servings are extremely generous. The soup is addicting and vey herby. It’s perfect for a cold night

This is the best pho place I've ever been! Prompt service, super tasty broth, and super nice servers! I had their spicy beef noodles and it was super good. Highly recommended to everyone.

Umm,, I think pho h**g is better than here. I smelt some meat smell,, I couldn’t eat all. Potion is very large. If you are picky eater, you can full just small size.

On a cold night, what else to have but a big bowl of pho. It was already a busy place but managed to get a table and a high chair.<br/><br/>This place is all about pho, so people know what they want and we always go pho dat biet, special beef noodle soups it has everything. Also they have 3 sizes, we went medium and large.<br/><br/>Old school styling just tables and chairs, and large mirrored wall. Nothing fancy just eat and go.<br/><br/>Our meals came quickly were really hot, like super hot and had to wait maybe a few minutes to cool down to eat. Nothing wrong with that, plenty of sides to go with it.<br/><br/>The soup was a little salty but once you add hoi sin it was getting just right. The large was really large, after sharing with my little one, I had just managed to finish it.<br/><br/>If your looking does value for money then order the large and maybe you can share with 2 people as it is big.

Loved how the meats were finely cut and presented, really nice soup base and great portions. Relatively speedy service and good pricing. One of the top Pho places in Brisbane.

Long-time customer of this Sunnybank pho establishment, however first review.<br/>We arrived just before the lunch-time surge, of which queues of people were already starting to line up.<br/><br/>We ordered the spring rolls to-share, as well as individual medium-sized bowls of Pho Tai (rare beef), Pho Dac Biet (combination), and Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef).<br/>The spring rolls were crispy and delicious. They came with lettuce to wrap them in (and to protect sensitive fingers from the heat) and accompanying fish sauce dip.<br/>The pho was steaming, flavourful (albeit with my familiar lingering sweet and saltiness), with fresh noodles and slices of fresh meat.<br/>The bun was perfect for a cool day - generous slices of pork and beef, and the broth had a good heat to it. The extra satay sauce is also a family favourite at Pasteur's.<br/><br/>Relatively inexpensive. Casual ambience. Reasonable service - yes, there were hiccups with our order (the owner came out to verify our dishes), however the missed dish came out less than five minutes later.<br/><br/>Overall, a solid Vietnamese restaurant and Sunnybank institution for no-fuss, comforting pho and other noodle soups.
Chloe
I went to the restaurant on a Thursday night, they were very busy, I gotta ask for lemon and bean sprouts several times before I finally get them, which is understandable. But the rare beef taste very tender, more like a meatball texture, and I can’t taste any beef in them. I don’t like their rare beef, and the feeling of constantly bothering the waitress for things they should have delivered. However the price wise is reasonable consider the serving size is huge.

Being situated in the heart of market square and delivering cheap solid meals you have to ask, where is the compromise? <br/><br/>Well, the spaces are cramped and the service is designed to get you in and out as quick as possible. While there are thermo style flasks with free hot tea on the tables, there's a good chance the jug will be empty. You may also need to reach over to a neighbours table (they're that close) to grab chopsticks, cutlery or a tissue. If you're not the type of person to be 'thrown' by this genuine 'hole-in-wall' model of restaurant though, than you'll quickly forgive Pho Hien Vuong Pasteur<br/> for any short-comings when you get to the register with a satisfied tummy. <br/><br/>While the prices have gone up a dollar or three over the years that I've been going, this place still delivers some comparably cheap, tasty dishes. Though I've heard some people rave about the pho here (and it's fairly good), I have some other favourites that bring me back. Personally, I like their Broken Rice and if you want a hearty meal on a rainy day, you simply can't go past the Bo Kho. <br/><br/>I know most people will ignore my advice, but honestly try ordering a 'small' dish the first time you go. Every time I go, I order a medium and never finish, despite how hungry I am. I've never ordered a large... they truly are for the 'able' stomach!<br/>I won't comment on the parking, as Market Square currently is undergoing an upgrade and the situation is temporary - though be aware.
Joechelle98
I call this place my soul food place because I certainly feel that my soul has been rejuvenated every time I eat here. The myriad of aroma/flavors that greet you as you step inside is, in and by itself, already enough reason for anyone to make the trip and try the food at this place. <br/><br/>Our all-time favorite is the combination pho, one of the best we have tried. The broth, which is the core of this dish, is superb most days. There are not-so-good pho broth days.  The serving size for large is enough to feed two hungry persons. Good value for money!
Cattat69
We haven’t been for ages as car parking due to the current renovations is causing chaos <br/>We entered busy as ever+++ seated quickly ordered the large serve of fried during rolls pork prawn and veg rice paper rolls pre made but with plenty of mint!! Yummm<br/>Waiting we ordered the Chrispy skin in yellow rice large to share and like always 2 Vietnamese White Coffees cold<br/>Normally it’s all ice little condensed milk so I asked for the ice in a glass on the side which made the strength absolutely perfect not a large portion like other spots I’ve visited at, but tasty indeed<br/>The small dishes came out fairly quickly at the beginning even though we had asked for it all to come st once with an extra plate and bowl to share<br/><br/>A nice experience not as good as lst time from memory and same was said with my dining partner so....<br/>Time to look look and learnGordons Girl

Everything was great until we got to the till where we were received rudely. Very upsetting. Please receive all customers with courtesy in expression and tone. <br/><br/>"Pay by card please" <br/>"Did you read the sign at the front?" <br/>"Yes we'll tap and go" <br/>"Read it again" <br/>"???" <br/>"There's surcharge" <br/>"We know we don't mind we'll tap and leave"

Biiiiiig bowls of Pho. Great for the hungry and weary to cleanse and warm oneself with a fragrant nutritious viet staple. Yellow rice and beef was alright but DROWNING in oil. Busy busy but service is okay in speed. Overall a satisfactory place and a good dinner choice.
Vina
This place is always full of people esp on weekend. Indeed, they deserve it, their food is so awesome..!!!! If you want to have fresh food, something that is light, you should order no.35. Their pho is also good and tasty. Definitely will come again especially for the SPRING ROLL
KK
The service is either incredibly poor or very satisfying. The bean sprouts, lemon, chilli and basil you get for the pho has usually been left out for more than 30 minutes to an hour so, not so fresh. The pho is good however. Recently they've always been taking the sauces to refill them but they never give it back so you have to ask them to bring it to you.
Sophia7777
The food was just fine but the service was very bad especially the casher who wears glassed. He was impatient and didn't have a smile at all. I will never go back. If you're the one who care about the service, I will not recommend this.
Brandon Do
Been here on countless occasions and I've never been let down once. The food here is great tasty with good sized servings. The meals ordered took under 5mins to come out however on busy times it usually takes around 10.

It's been a fortnight since my last bowl of Beef Pho so we drove up to Pho Saigon today. As I alit from the car I saw the brightly lit "Closed" sign. Never mind, we still had 2 choices in Pho Hien and Rice Paper. Calculating the distances I decided that Pho Hien was the closer choice. It's been over 4 years since my last visit to this restaurant as there had been a scandal over food recycling. So I guess it is time to give them another try. <br/><br/>At the entrance I counted 6 diners in the al fresco dining area and there were another 6 diners inside. A friendly waitress led us to our table and we ordered two medium size bowls of Pho (Combination) Dac Biet. There are three serving size options; Small ($11), Medium ($12) and Large ($14). Within minutes a flask of hot Chinese tea and Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($3.50) was brought to the table with our salad. Unfortunately, the bean sprouts and wilted Vietnamese basil looked like left overs from yesterday. Rating: 3.5/5.0<br/><br/>We received two apologies from the waitress for the delay with our meals. My partner told her it was unnecessary as we were not in a rush. Our super-hot bowls of beef pho arrived at 12pm, a wait of just over 20 minutes which is quite acceptable. Before tucking into my meal I notice there are now double the number of diners seated. <br/><br/>The soup is hot and delicious, the fresh Pho noodles are silky smooth and the meats are fresh. I would have liked more raw beef and the beef tendon was overcooked to a soft jelly. This is still a quality bowl of Combination Pho and the chef should be commended. Rating: 4.5/5.0<br/><br/>Well done guys!

Ordered special beef pho for lunch. The bowl that arrived was huge, hot and steaming, filled with noodles, meat and tripe and msg laden soup. Just the hit I needed as I wasn't feeling too flash. Overall I rate it a 3.5.<br/>In summary, good prices for large portions and a great location in Market Square. The food is good too.  I really enjoy their bun (vermicelli) salads in warmer weather, but their other dishes are good too. <br/>A pretty good Vietnamese food place which has been around for a while.

Favourite place for Pho in Brisbane... haven't found anywhere else that matches the flavour of the broth! When I lived in Robertson, we would visit every week for a bowl. The chicken soup is delicious also.
Sangoma
First time pho consumer. Very busy even at 3pm. Went for a late lunch. Had the special beef and chicken noodle soup. If you don't like eating offal then this is not for you. Contains giblets, tripe, etc. I found it to be very flavoursome, generous portion and good price. Wife wasn't able to cope with ingredients so she stuck to the noodles and left the meat. Service was quick but communication was difficult as waiter struggled with understanding English. Fine dining it isn't but it is good value for money. More like a cattle feed lot. Will have to try other pho restaurant to allow proper comparison. Good quick feed.

Very good authentic vietnamese food ! I grew up eating homemade pho and vermicelli noodles through a vietnamese family friend and the beef and spring rolls in the vermicelli here taste exactly the same. Theyre so good.<br/><br/>I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of the noodles BEFORE eating them so the photo is taken mid-way through the meal.. so i apologise for how they look... <br/><br/>The soup is flavourful, hot and fresh, the vegetables are fresh, the spring rolls tasty. Very happy with my meal ! <br/><br/>Also, it was very filling. Great portion sizes for the price.

Bad staff and heard alot of bad things from other people as well. So I won't be coming back here again. The food is alright and I think the quality of food has gone down!

This Vietnamese restaurant tucked into a corner of Market Square serves authentic Vietnamese food. The soups, salads and beef briskets are tasty and you can choose what size you'd like to have. You can sit in the air conditioned restaurant or in the external dining area. Service is fast and efficient and the prices are very reasonable.
Nerah Bee
Good service. Special Beef noodle soup did not seem so flavourful. Pho at Inala is best. Still good pho if you are in Sunnybank. Good but not Great.
Low Pui Ngai
Lovely and authentic Vietnamese food. The beef pho was delicious, good broth and tender meat. Another dish I will recommend will be the pork chop rice, the pork was solo flavourful and the sauce was sweet and compliments the pork chop and rice.

I guess a lot of food establishments in Sunnybank look a bit dodgy, but with Pho Hien Vuong Pasteur, dont let looks fool you. <br/>I have a dirty front window issue, and it took me all my will to walk through the door and take a seat, but then all my fears were put to rest.<br/>We order rice paper rolls to share....best I have ever tasted!<br/>Then tried the combination beef pho and the spring roll noodle salad. I loved the pho, hubby loved the salad. <br/>I will definitely return, but we have only just ventured into Sunnybank, so a lot more places to discover! <br/>4/5....Dirty front window😉, otherwise would have been 5/5.

VERY generous serving sizes and great prices. <br/><br/>This place is always busy so perhaps I expected a bit more. <br/><br/>The Bún bò Huế was reasonable, but there is better out there.

They put too much MSG in beef soup (PHO) so after ate it we can feel very thirsty and the rice noodle made with borax (borax not allowed to pit in food industry by law, because borax can lead to Cancer) so we can smell it.
Victoria
Humongous portions and very tasty! Best pho in town in my opinion. Broth is really good and I usually order the special combination beef pho. I do think they put MSG which makes you thirsty asf but I like it nonetheless :)
Danelle Lim Yun
The serving was generous and really value for money. We had the clear rice noodle soup with BBQ pork chop. It was pretty good, although I could detect some msg in the soup. I wouldn't mind coming back again to try their rice vermicelli noodle salads, which looked really good.

First, I would like to say that the shop is rrally Vietnamese. When I saw the menu, the price is actually quite cheap and I thought the serving size will be small. However, when the Vietnamese Pho arrived, it is extremely huge!! <br/>The taste of PHO is really authentic especially the soup base, is very fresh. I like their beef slice and they serve intestine as well. <br/>I'll definitely bring my friends here when they came to visit Brisbane.
Kat
I  have been to a fair share of vietnamese pho restaurants and hands down this was the best Pho I have found. Soup is always tasty and the flavour is wonderful. Their pork chops w/ rice and rice noodle salad with beef are also winners. Service somewhat friendly but staff are prompt and efficient. Dining spaces are minimal so after 6pm there is usually a line up.

We enjoyed beef phó here today for lunch and it was fantastic. A beautiful flavoured broth with plenty of beef and noodles. Very economical. Reminded us of our holiday in Vietnam.

By far my favorite restaurant in Market Square. I go there at least once a week with my girlfriend. Their special beef is the best! I love that you get to chose your own sized dish (S, M or L). Their spring rolls are delicious too. Cheap & authentic Vietnamese restaurant! Definitely have to try it out.

With it's minimum fuss, unpretentious attitude and fast service, Pho Hien Vuong Pasteur is a good place to grab a bowl of Pho or whatever takes your fancy.<br/><br/>Extensive menu means there are plenty of options and I'd say their fried chicken chop is one of the better I've had. The place does, however, become SO crowded so be sure to allow plenty of time to wait for a seat.<br/><br/>It's one of the older Vietnamese places in Brisbane so they have their systems worked out enabling you to get in and out very quickly.
T
Very busy, try going at lunch to avoid the crowds. And overlook the dirtiness of this place. Besides that, it's bloody delicious. If you can't eat all the weird shit they put in the noodle soup, just order the rare beef one and you'll be safe

Most Sunnybank dwellers have been here; no frills decor. Excellent choice for consistently good pho.<br/><br/>Sit down, order, receive foods, eat. No mucking about! lol<br/><br/>Verdict: steadfastly reliable.
BrisFoodie
Cheap, tasty and fast. Everything you would want in a Sunnybank eatery. If you can actually finish their large bowl of Pho you deserve a pat on the back, it's massive.
Dan Condon
The best Pho in Brisbane. Don't tell your friends, the place is busy enough!!! But seriously, worth going every time. The Bun Cha is great too.
Nat
I wonder if I will back to other pho restaurant after tasting this. <br/><br/>The special pho is a MUST for the first visit!!! But check the menu to make sure you like all the ingredient. The combination is the best for the people who like me, loving to have all different taste in one bowl. <br/>The noodle is authentic and it's not overcooked. The ingredients are fresh. <br/><br/>My partner order the deep fried chicken noodle soup is also very good! (Forgot to take the photo). The clear soup is good if you want something light.

Cheapest and yummiest pho in Brisbane hands down. Service is super fast and you'll have your soup within about 5 minutes most days. My favorite dish is the rare beef pho and the BBQ diced pork and rice.

Excellent Beef PHO Soup ( Actually the best ive ever had) really efficient staff, Best soup seriously. Reasonable price, nice dining area, overall best experience as a first timer - would recommend.
Fork N Food
Cheap yes. Tasty no. Been around for a long time and has gotten progressively worse. Pho is very average, rice dishes are no good. Drinks are sugary and watery.
Muncher
Reasonable quality food with a fair price , service is good and fast :) good location right in the middle of market place, outside dining is also an option :)

Another local place I like to drop into. Service is quick, decor is minimal and a lot of tables in such a small space. There is always free hot tea at your table and the menu is comprehensive with so many choices to choose from. I particularly like their pho tai Bo vien (pho with beef balls and raw beef) which always comes out steaming and then you mix the raw beef into the soup to cook it. Condiments are on the side so you can make it to your own liking. Another favorite of mine is the bun Bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup), it definitely hits the spot on a cold winter's night!

Best Vietnamese Restaurant!. Since being introduced to this restaurant a year ago I have at every opportunity I get to when in Sunnybank, choose to eat here. My absolute favourite place to dine! I have introduced my friends who always are now religiously eating here often. Recommend this place to anyone.

Ticks all of my "How to spot a good Asian resturant" boxes!. I've been eating here almost religiously for 3 years now, and despite probably checking out every Pho joint out in Brisbane, I have yet to find a better spot. Throughout my travels, I have a simple checklist of whether or not an Asian place would be good which has worked around the world:<br/><br/>1. Located in some possibly-dodgy area<br/>2. Not flashy (menus on chalkboards or randomly taped to walls in the language of the restaurant are a plus)<br/>3. Old Asian people eat there<br/>4. Terrible service (truly the mark of a good, bustling Asian place)<br/>5. Staff actually speak the language of the restaurant's ethnicity<br/><br/>Pho Hien Vuong ticks all those, and I'm happy to say my checklist still works.

The Best Pho in Town. We have been dining in this place for over 3 years now -it never let us down - ingredients are always fresh and tasty - no other Vietnamese restaurants can beat this place with taste & value for money - we have tried Vietnamese meal at Inala, Fortitude Valley, Sunnybank Hills, etc but I can say they are good but not better than Pho Hien Vuong - what else can I say? - if you crave something to satisfy your appetite then don't go past this place - I can guarantee you 110% that you will not get disappointed :o)

Great food. Horrible service.. Amazing food - best vietnamese around. However, the service is pretty shocking - especially the manager guy. He needs to STOP BEING SO RUDE to his customers. I hope he reads this.

Tried today. Huge serve of chicken soup.....noodles were mushy. Soup lacked depth of flavour. Pork chop and rice....rice tasted old...pork poor flavour. Prawn and pork fresh spring rolls were ok. Free tea was great. Busy shop, staff great. Maybe we just got a bad batch today. Wasnt really impressed.

Best value for money in Brisbane. This is the best Vietnamese in Brisbane. It was so good that we went again the next day. Amazing Pho and Salad. We live near China town but drive to Sunny bank just to have lunch here. $20 for two for lunch what value, amazing. Friendly service and great atmosphere. Do yourself a favour and go there.
Gigi
Unbelievably good!!!. I've tasted a lot of pho. I am a self-confessed pho addict! This place is just amazing. The broth is so tasty and I can't go past ordering the special beef pho. There are so many tasty looking things on the menu but I just can't bear the thought of not having my special beef! I travelled to Vietnam last year and must say that the pho at this place is super authentic. The condiments are also great. I highly recommend asking for pickled onions to go with all the beefy goodies in your pho. It adds another flavour dimension :)

Good Pho?. To be honest, when this Restaurant first open, I was so happy because there was finally the real Pho in Brisbane. But, after a year, and after a few changing of owners, Pho at this place isn't that good anymore. <br/>Pho Saigon is now slightly better. And, the better Pho in Brisbane at the moment is at Quan Thanh Restaurant in Westend. (It is not the best Pho, it is just seemly the better one so far)<br/>I'm very disappointed at Pho Hien Vuong, because it's proven that they are capable of cooking Great and Authentic Pho (when they first opened) but the price has gone up and the quality and taste of the food has gone down.<br/>No! I do not want to recommended this place to anyone. I actually, kept wondering every time I walked passed the restaurant seeing people eating their bowl of Pho "Do they really think it's good? Haven't they ever tried the real Pho before?" It's sad.

Hmmmm just like springvale in melbs. I ve being here in qld for 4mths from melbourne and ive found a place that reminds me of springvale. good food and services. go back any day.. well worth the visit.

Great to see that the food and service is still tops, for delicious, fresh and authentic Vietnamese.

If you want pho, this is where you go.. When I was in Vietnam, I ate pho for breakfast (and sometimes lunch and dinner too) for a whole month. This is better than any pho I've ever had. Submerged in the magical, steaming broth are these strips of melt-in-your-mouth beef that will have you planning your next visit before you've even added the chili. <br/>It's the bears flares, people. Go. Now.

I don't understand. You all must have a very unusual perception as to what Vietnamese food should taste like.<br/><br/>The Pho is laden with MSG. I could taste this with one spoon. The worst parts of beef tendon and meat where in the bowl. The rice paper rolls were sloppy. The rice dishes looked satisfactory. The staff cannot comprehend English. They stare at you. Perhaps this is to be expected if you hire 19 year olds that shouldn't be working on their student visas. I'm sure it's not too bad sitting inside but outside is another story. It feels like a you're in a dodgy part of Hong Kong. The prices aren't even competitive.<br/><br/>If you want good Pho for $10, drive to Inala. That's where the real Viet food is. Alternatively, for an extra couple of bucks, drive to West End. There is a whole strip of Vietnamese Eateries. <br/><br/>Leave Sunnybank for what they do best, or alternatively stay. You probably belong there.

Yummy in my tummy!. I have just been introduced to this place by some friends and all I can say is...Oh my god! Soooo good! The spring rolls are sort of a mix of savoury and sweetness, even without the dipping sauce. My friends often order the Pho soup with rare beef. I have tried the rice paper rolls with chicken and also a stiry fry beef salad. Both just to die for. There is also some beautiful fresh type of natural tea on the table that is free and they just keep replacing if and when you want it. It isnt a place to hang out with a bottle of red but if you want cheap, quick and tasty food, this place is one for your list. Enjoy!

Good food but horrible service. The staffs are quite arrogant. They are not friendly at all. When I was having diner with my girlfriend and requested for more lemon and chilli they made a nasty face and complained to their boss. During eating, the staff just casually poked their hands to grab fork and spoon so frequently, disturbing our private time and space. The owner just stood near the counter and staring everywhere, especially staring to our table like giving us a death state. At the end they overcharged us for tapioca noodle which we didn't order. Overall, what a pity, great product but poor service because of arrogance attitude. They only own a restaurant, not a kingdom? Why need to be arrogant?

Yummy Viet food. Tasty authentic vietnamese. One of the best places for spring rolls! I usually get Pho or the round fat noodles. Quick service of food, and cheap.
Gluten Free Girl
Cheap and delicious!. This is one of my regular go-to-spots for dinner! <br/>It's a very basic restaurant, but the complimentary tea on every table, cheap prices, and generous sized meals make it one of my favourites. <br/>The clear rice noodle soups and vermicelli noodle salads are fantastic!
Homerofbrisbane
Nice and cheap. Tasty, generous and cheap. Everything a staple Vietnamese restaurant should be. We will be back over and over again.
Herperderp
Cheap and delicious pho. If you like Vietnamese food, you will like it. Tiny restaurant with good food.

I absolutely LOVE every single items on the menu, nothing would let me go home disappointed. Affordable and huge portion. Sometimes order a large size and share it with a girl friend.

Huge servings. Great pho with generous servings but beware of the MSG after effects. My boyfriend and I had huge headache.

Amazing little restaurant! <br/>Fantastic food and the waiters are very friendly and helpful! Will be going back regularly!!

Best Pho. We go here nearly every week, it is without a doubt the best pho in brisbane. We have tried a LOT of the menu items but keep coming back to the same meals: number 22, 27 and 35: crispy skin chicken and yellow rice for the 8 year old and a bbq pork chop, shredded pork rind and spring roll salad for me (wow!)This food is phenomenal and cheap. Parking at Market Square can be a bit chaotic but it's well worth it.

Pho to die for. This is by far the best pho I have had, there is this little Vietnamese bistro in Melbourne I love to go to when down there as I love their pho and thought that I could not get better pho unless I go to Vietnam. God I was wrong, if they make better pho in Vietnam than at Pho Hien Vuong Pasteur, I am moving there tomorrow.
Silver
Delicious pho, however I had such a thirst and a headache afterwards. I only get these symptoms when I consumed an excessive amount of MSG.
Leila
It's the first time I have come to this place based on the reviews I had read. Oh boy! The food is delicious and so flavour some! The reviews I read were spot on! I had the crispy chicken clear soup. Tasty tasty tasty! Will definately be back! So glad I have found an awesome Vietnamese restaurant that is local! So looking forward to working through the menu!
Kaye-Ann Neighbour
Yummy!. Love the pho here!!

We just moved from Sydney...this place has saved our taste buds.

We found it!. After searching for the best pho in brisbane since we moved here over a year ago, we have finally found it here! Fresh, tasty, good cuts of meat (and I'm really fussy with chicken) and the broth is just so so good. Everything you need on the table - chopsticks/cutlery, flask of hot tea, tissues, sauces. Service is polite and prompt. Atmosphere is busy, noisy and casual - standard authentic vietnamese eatery. Cheap too. And the best spring rolls with lettuce leaves and dipping sauce I have ever had.

Best Pho in Brisbane (so far)!!!. We are originally from Edmonton, Canada where the best Pho in the world is served at a little hole in the wall called Tau Bay. Since moving to Brisbane 8 months ago, we've been on the hunt for something comparable with no luck, most places had broth that was too sweet or too bland (muddled by the flavor of noodles where you don't even want to sip at the left over broth). Until now!!<br/><br/>We went to Pho Hien Vuong last night and, after getting the last available table inside, ordered our Pho with high hopes. After our first sip of the broth, we knew we'd struck gold! The broth is soo good and savory you can taste the marrow, and it was still tasty till the last drop. <br/><br/>We also had Pho Sai Gon last week which is pretty good, but Pho Hien Vuong is MUCH better, with a really nice combo of meats in the soup, really tasty fatty beef, sausage, etc. Plus the tables all had hot tea and chili oil too which was great (not sure why other pho places in Brisbane don't have this, should be standard). <br/><br/>Serving size is good too, you can pick from small, med or large (I ordered a small which was more than enough, my partner who can eat a horse was rightly full after the medium bowl). So after trying the pho places in West End, Inala, a few in Wolloongabba and Fortitude Valley, I think this is the place to go for a beautiful bowl of pho.
Paninaro
Popular huh ?. I have never been to this perennially-full establishment when I haven't had to line outside. They knock up a damn fine beef noodle soup but they truly shine with their spring rolls (served with iceberg lettuce to wrap them in before dunking into the dipping sauce). Everything you need is on the table - cutlery, chilli sauce, hoisin, tissues and a flask of tea with a stack of tea cups. Loving the choose your degree-of-greediness serving size available for most menu options but not the place to linger as there are many pairs of eyes lined up waiting for you to vacate your table.
Hadi
Pho here is the best. It is not a restaurant. So don't expect great ambience or service. But the food is fantastic
Luke K
Excellent! Value for money +++++. Very warm staff. Thoroughly welcomed our kids even when they were on a cranky day.
Brisney Lander
Great food tab good price. Don't go here for the service or ambience because both are just ok. but the good is delicious. It might take you a few visits to work put your favorite dish but it's all so fresh Ans delicious. Sunnyvale dining can be a bit hit.Nd.miss This is HIT!
Anna
Best Pho in Brisbane!... Seriously!. Without a doubt the best Pho I have had in Brisbane. And I have tried ALOT of Phos' around this town. The broth definetly made it spectacular, it was so damn good! The serving sizes are huge, enough so that my partner (who has a huge appetitie) couldn't finish his large serving. Will be making more trips to this place, thats for sure.
Isabel
Damn good Pho. My family and I eat here religiously every weekend. My dad is a massive fan of Vietnamese food and for years we've been on a search to find the best Pho in Brisbane. Alas, we've settled on Pho Hien Vuong. The Pho is incredibly tasty, decent serving sizes and it's a seriously cheap meal. Just a side note, the soup tastes a lot better earlier in the day as opposed to late at night; not sure if they water it down if they start to run out. We've had almost everything on the menu, and it's all super. I'd highly recommend this place if you're looking for Vietnamese food.

No brainer. Best pho and bun in brissy<br/><br/>hands down

Rice paper rolls!. The rice paper rolls were absolutely amazing, I can't wait to get some more. Delicious dipping sauce too. Had the chicken pho as well and loved it. Smooth, tender chicken slices, soup that wasn't too salty and bean sprouts to add some freshness. Lovely!
The Food Oracle
Best pho in Bris IMHO. Yum, always a winner. Love the rare beef!<br/>In typical Vietnamese restaurant fashion, the service is not exactly warm, but if you are charging me only $8 for a consistently delicious, satisfying meal you can scowl at me all you like!<br/>Best pho in Brisbane, without a doubt.... I want pho now
Shaney
Oh man I love this place. Reminds me of the stuff my mum use to make. No. 10 sml chicken pho is my fav (more than enough for me), plenty of meat, perfect soup base. Highly recommend anyone wanting a filling but cheap meal to come get it here. My husband can down a large bowl but he'd be at exploding capacity each time. Spring rolls wrapped in lettuce also a winner. Great and friendly owner and waiters.
Ann
Best Pho. This is the best pho in Sunnybank. <br/><br/>They come in small, medium and large. I once ordered a large and it was so big I couldn't finish it. Medium is the preferred size. The price is very good too,<br/><br/>Their noodles are not mushy and it's overloaded with lots of meats and this kind of meatloaf that I haven't had in any other pho around in Brisbane before. <br/><br/>Now this pho is not too salty or not too bland. I like it.
Arebee
Best Pho in Sunnybank, there's really not much more to say.
Viviana Zocaro
Great little restaurant it has become a favourite for pho, no. 25 is the favourite!! Always fresh and consistant and great serving sizes!! Yum
Locomunching
The food is quite simple, but very tasty in my opinion, and quite reasonably priced at $10-$16 for a main dish. There is also complimentary tea and water, which is nice. However, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for vegetarians because there’s a real lack of meat-free options.

If you want good Vietnamese food in a hurry, this is the place for you, PHO *HIEN VUONG* PASTEUR at Sunnybank.
Toby Nguyen
The combination pho consisted of an array of meats, including offal parts from chicken, chicken meat, some spicy asian sausage, the usual vegetables, tripe, and much more that has escaped from my mind. Its good that they have definite prices for the different sizes of bowls/serving sizes you can choose from, unlike many other restaurants serving similar cuisine. The flavour of the broth is quite full and delicious. I havent had Pho in a long time, and this bowl had reminded me of what I was missing out on.
MynameisFood.
Pho Vietnamese Noodles .. Combination noodles with everything in it ... i think i usually get everything except pig's blood and sausage~`kihihihhh.... bean sprouts... mint.... hoisin sauce.. lemon... oh you make me go all noodley~~~
Girl Who Does Lunch
Seriously, if I had unlimited access to pho, I'd be slurping on the noodle soup ALL DA. I'd also probably be 300 kilos and possible die from obesity related disease. The point is that there is heaps of different noodles soups from seafood, clear rice noodle soup with bbq pork, the original beef pho, vermicelli salad to choose from. I've tried most things on the menu and it's all
