Love The Boatshed everytime I go! The service is always impeccable, the food amazing and the atmosphere perfect
I usually stick to my usual the eye fillet with chips, salt n pepper squid and a mushroom sauce and can never fault it! The steak just melts in your mouth every time
This time the two of us got the same dish but different drinks the wine list is amazing I definitely recommend the broken shack Pinot Grigio 👌🏻
Not quite a four but more than a three. It's a steak house and ten points for the visual and olafactory assault. Ironbark fires cooking great pieces of beef. Not a cheap night but worth the outlay. Mine host is the delightful and famous Michael Platsis who has served more meals in Brisbane than anyone I know. Have a few cleansers next door and a post at the Walrus.
Had the RNA eye fillet. It cooks perfectly and meat is very tender. The price is reasonable for a 200g, $35, given it wons an award. The regular 180g eye fillet would be $30. Atomesphere is good, could be a little noisy depends on who sit next to your table. So if you want to have a good consersation you need to raise your voice a bit. Service is also good, staffs are friendly and helpful.
Only thing that I struggle with is the size of the table we have been offered. Four people and been given a small square table. Not enough place for wine glasses plus food. We ordered some sides along with the steak that has been squeezed to put in the middle of the table. And it is hard to get to those food because the wine glasses are always blocks your way.
Ate here recently and really enjoyed the NAPCO steak. The boatshed has a good vibe to it at night for dinner and the service was pretty friendly and attentive.

Lovely atmosphere and beautiful food, sadly though the service here lets me down. Unapologetically disorganised and unpleasant staff dampen the overall experience. Our table was booked well in advance but somehow our party was expected to wait at the bar for almost two hours. The food and atmosphere almost made the wait worthwhile, but not quite.
Unbeatable amalgamation - Location, staff and food!
Nice place to have your breakfast or drinks in the evening with the back drop of the Brisbane river. This is an heritage building. Looks nice.
Serene (though it's bustling with people) and soothing atmosphere. Had eggs and bacon with bread. Everything was good. The coffee was great. The staff was courteous and very happy to help types.
Would definitely visit the place again.
I came here with a friend for some dry-aged beef steaks. The atmosphere was lively and it sounded like sparrows having big fights. We were glad that our table was tucked away from the chirps which allowed us to converse. We both had a glass of Barossa shiraz while observing how the chef was cooking the meat on the fiery front. I ordered a medium rare dry-aged porterhouse steak. The meat was erring too far towards medium done though still amazing and juicy

Only 80's kids will understand. The regatta is dead to me. Remember when you could get a bucket of coronas for $10? That beer garden that everyone spewed in? The urinal where you could pretend to piss on people? It's all dead to me now.
Take your in-laws here, they will think they are hip and cool, when in actuality you know the soul of the place is dead... Much like your career aspirations.
Everyone loves a steak and it's quick service, so you won't have to put up with the old farts for long.
I thought the atmosphere was very good. As a solo diner there was plenty of places to sit without feeling like a fish out of water. Staff were very attentive and the food came out fast. The food it's self were good value to the portion size and value for money.
A quick tapas on a Sunday afternoon. It was ok, pizzas looked amazing so I think we may have just ordered wrong. The Pimms jug was amazing though.
I live in St Lucia so everytime I'm in need of a perfectly cooked steak and some beautiful oysters, The Boatshed is the only way to go.
I came here on a dinner date the other day and got the Wagyu 'Eye of Rump' ($37) and a Dozen Oysters ($30) to share.
The oysters at The Boatshed are so fresh it's as if they pulled them right out of the ocean seconds ago. I haven't witnessed any inconsistencies so far.
I always get the Bearnaise sauce with my steak, and always have it medium rare. That I reckon, is the best way to have it.
FOOD: 8/10
SERVICE: 9/10
AMBIENCE: 9/10
Very nice! Another great meal from the regatta restaurant! Had the steak for main and the squid for entree and was very impressed. The atmoaphere of the restaurant and bar were also great, service was good too and the pricing was reasonable for what you get. others on my table had the ravioli, chicken, pork belly, bruschetta and more and no one had anything bad to say! Will be back very soon :)
Had a very nice night here the other night. Food was delicious. Had the Wagyu Eye of Rump and it was cooked perfectly. I do think the plate would have looked better with a bit more garnish but that's only minor. Our waiter Hans was fantastic. They do need to update some furniture as our chairs looked very tired and weren't very comfy. They also dimmed the lights halfway through and made it very hard to see. Not sure why they did that. Overall it was a good night and I would go back.
Ordered bruschetta pizza and baby calamari for starters, pizza didn't have enough taste, baby calamari was cooked to perfection very tasty and melt in your mouth.
Ordered rib fillet and rib on the bone both were cooked well, very tasty.
Dessert ordered chocolate macadamia caramel tart I have to say amazing just needed a little more fresh fruit.
Come here often for a nice family catch up. Always a good quality meal and the atmosphere is good when its both quiet or busy. Love going to the steakhouse for dinner
Came in with a group of friends on last Saturday.
The restaurant manager Michael was very accommodating. He selected our entree's as a recommendation to share. All the entree's we tried were exceptional. Stand outs was the bugs tail and pork belly.
Michaels recommendation to try the T-Bone dry aged steak was one of the tastiest selections of steaks I've had in Brisbane. Cooking style and condiments you couldn't fault. Great atmosphere, food and more importantly service.
Over the years we've taken him to sample everything from $100+ offerings to $10 pub counter meals. This time we decided to venture out-- away from the south side of Brisbane and try somewhere he'd least expect--The Regatta Hotel.
First impressions are definitely impressive-- especially considering my past memories. High ceilings decorated by rowing boats (Boatshed, I get it), splashes of green and a sparkly view across the river definitely gets you in the mood for some casual, relaxed and good feeling fare.
Menu offerings were pretty standard and what you'd expect at a steak house. We ordered the oysters, fried bugtails and heirloom tomato salad to start with.
I was hoping the food would stack up to the presentation of the restaurant and it was well...surprising.
You can't go past the atmosphere and feel of this place. Fantastic idea to have an open kitchen and an area where you can see the beef dry ageing--makes you want to eat it all the more.
Entrees were a disappointment with the oysters on a bed of toilet cleaner blue salt but the oysters themselves were fine. The heirloom tomato salad wasn't really a salad and the Moreton Bay bug tails were over done and too thickly battered.
Thankfully steaks were lovely though I'm not sure what was served to me as the staff got confused on which steak was what. Still, the sauces were a plus and all the steaks were cooked well, quality meat too.
Will return if only to enjoy the restaurant surroundings itself
Lovely steaks, lovely service. I loved it.
We decided to pop in without a reservation. It was very busy but the staff did their best and were able to seat us. Thank you. I will be back.
I would recommend the regatta for Friday night drinks or a quiet night out with friends. The food is nice but can take a while to come out on a busy night which is understandable.
Sensational. Impressive from the first minute we walked in to the last. The venue, service, food and wine (including pairing recommendations) were all excellent and well worth paying a couple of extra dollars for. Already looking forward to our next encounter.
Nice place, nice food. Had dinner at the Boatshed last night. For entree we shared salt and pepper squid, which was very nice. Then for mains we ordered the Sirloin with chips, Barramundi with chips, Atlantic Salmon, and the Chicken.
Everyone enjoyed their food very much. Service could be better,
Definitely worth a visit.
Great dinner spot away from the city. Was a bit skeptical about going back to the boatshed after years but tried it anyways and not sure what the bad reviews are about.
This restaurant has improved so much for the better after renovations and I was very impressed. The seating area, the atmosphere and the food (and service too) were great. We were served by an italian waiter and he was very good.
Really impressed by the food, the portions and reasonable prices.
Would definitely return
Better than expected. Okay; I admit, I went in with low expectations given the split culinary camps of this place. But I was pleasantly surprised. Our waitress, Merlot was great, suggesting what she thought looked good and equally what she knew to be good. I chose the Beef Cheeks and it was great. It could have been a touch warmer, but it was still pretty damn delish. I loved dining in the booths and for those who also score restaurants on their amenities, this place wasn't too bad; even for a Friday lunch service at Christmas time. Will I go back? Sure! How can you go past an iconic pub with good grub!
Rib Eye Fillet. Didn't get to lunch until almost 2pm, the rib eye fillet was a perfect medium-rare, the brushetta was excellent and the salted caramel dessert was really crunchy and we both rarely order dessert but glad we did.
Great steaks and great service. I have no idea how this place has rated 56%, we've been eating here for almost a year and the food is consistently high quality.
Great dinning experience. As a first timer, I would say I was worried with the current rating of 59%. However, four our steaks was cooked to the perfection and service was awesome. Since we are accompanied with 2 pregnant ladies, our waitstaff listed us with recommendations and selections of meat to be cooked well-done but still edible. The ginger pudding dessert was overpriced but taste alrite. Overall, it was a great dinning experienced and will be back!
Yummo!! Came here for a 21st birthday dinner with my mum, we ordered scallops for entrée, both had braised beef for mains, and apple crumble and chocolate fondant for dessert. 10/10 service and food, and great Espresso Martinis too. Thanks Regatta Boatshed !
Fantastic meal. When i read some of the reviews before we went to the Boatshed I was a bit concerned but I think they got wrong. We went there last week and had a fantastic night. The two staff members that looked after us all night were great. They were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was just excellent. 2 of the 3 of us had steak and personally I think mine was the best I have had in years. The third person had salmon and loved it
Thanks for a great night out
Can't wait to go back!!!!. Knowledgeable and friendly staff (not to mention very attractive!) amazing value meals and the Salted Caramel tart is unbelievable. The Boatshed is just one aspect of the Regatta that is awesome – the Courtyard is perfect for afternoon drinks and I was inside at the Merle Bar for Origin. Can’t be beaten!!
Unacceptable for a restaurant that prides itself on their steak.... The first time I went to the boatshed I was so impressed that I took my father there a couple of weeks later - May 16. I wish I hadn't...
We both ordered the "special". It was a prime full blood wagyu 250gms - $49, served on a bed of potatoes with a couple of carrots and tomatoes. My steak was pretty good. My fathers steak had literally 1/3 gristle and was a big let down. The floor manager, who was friendly and nice enough, discounted Dads meal by half.
But here's the thing... this is why I'm writing a review. How does this happen? Are the guys in the kitchen oblivious to what a good steak is? Do they not care? I'm not talking about a chewy bit here and there, but 30% of my Dads steak was inedible - THIRTY PERCENT!!! We didn't have to pay full price for this sorry excuse for a meal, and so we shouldn't, but a discount doesn't make this any more acceptable.
I promised my Dad a damn good lunch. I was happy to pay $100 for a couple of good steaks. But I won't take this risk again. Simply put, I will go somewhere else next time. The boatshed probably feel that making the steak half price was a fair measure, but even a $25 steak should be better than what my father had served up to him. I feel confident in saying that ANY restaurant in town, regardless of price, would have been better than this $50 abomination.
The boatshed got it spot on the first time I went there. The 2nd time the steak was a disgrace.
With a 55% like review on this website, it is obvious that people are taking their chances dining here.
Good luck. You'll need it.
Fantastic food; didn't like the service. I loved my steak here; it was cooked to perfection, and was incredibly tender. The problem my table had was working out which steak belonged to which person, because there was no indication of rare-medium-well (e.g. sticks or flags) and the plates were just plonked down in front of people randomly. I'd be willing to give it another try though.
We recently enjoyed dinner at the Boatshed Regatta. Our steaks were delicious (maybe a touch more well done than requested medium if I was really picky, but they were very tender and juicy) with great chips and side salads. Overall for the price of the meals we were very satisfied. The portions are generous without being excessive. As it was a Friday night the place was at capacity (we didn't have a reservation and had to wait half an hour, but this was handled efficiently by the maître de). Overall the service was on the slow side and a little haphazard, but the wait staff were friendly and didn't get defensive when we flagged them down. We would go back - just maybe when it's a bit less busy.
So many bad reviews... But we've given the Boatshed another go... The food was divine, service great, wine brilliant... Cannot fault it. Give it a go yourself! Very happy
Loved it. Wow. Our table loved everything about the boatshed. The Steaks were beautiful, melt in your mouth. Yes it is on the expensive side but if you want the good stuff then you need to pay the price. Worth ever bloody cent. The scallops were also great.
I loved the cauliflower salad omg the flavour my taste buds wanted more even though I was full beyond full. You have to have this salad. The best.
We all enjoyed it so much that we had to go the extra mile and order dessert. Oh my not good GREAT. Lemon tart yummy. Chocolate pudding no words.
Thanks for a good night we will be back
Fantastic X'mas Menu with superb steak. Service was good though closing too early for the holiday season, in my opinion. A great place to enjoy with friends.
Have had mixed experiences here, last time the food was extremely good and the oysters were the best I have had all year. Only let down in this place is the service. Great location, well presented, and now fantastic food, get the service right and you will have a winner.
Excellent. Great place. Fantastic staff, well priced and great atmosphere. Good service, one of the few places in Brisbane with great service. I'll be going back to this lively fun place.
The Boat Shed has easy online booking for
lunch or dinner 7 days a week. The staff are
professional and efficient. Mainly a steak
house, there are non-steak options on the
menu, as well as GF and DF options. The
food is delicious with good portions. An
expansive drinks menu to accompany your
meals. Facilities on the premises and parking
available. A popular venue, with good reason.
The lounging bar is amazing, such a chilled out way to CHILL OUT. Burgers top notch. Sundays live band does requests and a lot of fun is had! Try it out. Actually don't. Wanna keep this as my own clubhouse ;)
i was very surprised by this dinner experience!! i did not expect such high quality and delicious food from @regattahotel 🤭🤍 love the atmosphere and vibe of the entire place too~ like a casual pub/club🧐🤣 super super busy at night!! such a lively place~ i never expected it to be so big inside🤭
we ordered ✨🍽:
🍔southern fried chicken burger $18: this was SO big oh my, surprisingly quite good!! chicken wasn’t juicy but it wasn’t dry which is good~ flavour was quite nice and it was super crunchy~ the fries🤤hot and crisppp~
🍕prosciutto rosso $21: this. was. incredible. it doesn’t state that it’s wood fired, but it really tastes like it!! dough was fluffy and cooked to perfection oh my, it was my first time having caramelized onions on a pizza and oh my- what a beautiful addition! balances out the prosciutto perfectly🤤i would come back just for this pizza!
🍛 coconut chicken curry $21: this was a chef special~ it was pretty nice~ the chicken was a little dry and i don’t really like coconut curries so it wasn’t really my taste but really good quality!🥰
🥗caesar salad $17: ordered a salad to repair balance out the heaviness of everything else~ refreshing and nice! bacon was quite hard as well as the huge cuts of bread but overall an okay salad~
💜lilac sky $12: this mocktail was delishhh!! with butterfly pea inside, it was a beautiful colour! with hints of citrus and floral flavours, it was refreshing and yum!🥰 ugh if only i had the right coloured nails🥲🤣
overall, a lovely lovelyyyy dinner at @regattahotel a staple and icon in Brisbane, if you haven’t checked it out, it’s definitely worth it!🤩🥰
With a U K friend in tow, we went for a drink in the late arvo at the Main Bar, and stayed for a meal. I had beer-battered barramundi and chips with salad, the friend had a steak sandwich, and hubby had a beef burger. He said the meat patty was cooked well, and the additions were really enjoyable - the right amount of gherkins, etc. The chips were chips – fine, tasty, the usual. My fish was wonderful – juicy and tender, with crispy not-too-thick batter. The salad was fresh, with a tangy dressing. The burger and sandwich (with chips) went down well. Servings are very generous, and we managed to scoff them down ‘cos we were hungry little diners. We drank Prosecco, and a G&T, and a soft drink. Staff were pleasant (our UK friend said she missed the friendly Aussie waitering-style now she lives overseas.), and food came out promptly. Even for a Monday night, this place was fairly busy. We all enjoyed the meals and drinks, and the respite from the day’s endeavours. There are several bars, and a café and a restaurant here. Much more for us to explore on another night.
Boatshed in Regatta Hotel is one of my favourite places for steaks. Open kitchen gives customers a bit more impression on their food quality. Staff serves customers in a professional manner and food is presented on a well organised plating. Steaks I and my wife ordered were absolutely amazing. The side dish 'Roasted cauliflower' was fantastic. Nothing to comment negatively...
Only it's a bit of $$$.
I wish there is a list of lunch menu in Boatshed then I can visit more often
Beautiful food prepared with love and attention to detail. Outstanding draft beers, delicious cocktails and an excellent wine selection. The market fish is exquisite with beautiful little potatoes and a delicious green salsa. If you want a fantastic steak accompanied with a cold draft beer or favourite red this is the place. The steaks are extraordinary and glide like butter! The chef fiercely guards your steak and is protective to grill it perfectly. I got him to smile though 😉
The sides including the veg are fresh and tasty and the salads are consistently crisp and fabulous to have as a starter. The oysters are beautiful. The waiters and staff are brilliant with fantastic service and will check on you to make sure you are not waiting on a drink. The Boatshed is perfect for a lazy long lunch, special occasions and date nights. Book early as it gets very busy. My only sadness here is that we really miss the sublime lime cheesecake as it’s no longer on the menu. They could do with a rhubarb crumble and offer a couple options to include less sweet desserts:)
Arrive by ferry & this was my first visit to Regatta Hotel on Saturday 04/09/21 visiting from Cairns. The Hotel looks beautiful with it's charm character & heritage, even though I only had time for one cup of Cappuccino I could have easily sat outside all day, with its relaxed friendly atmosphere & only a 10 min walk to Toowong Village.
The food was absolutely delicious and divine.
A little bit pricey but it's a nice place for a date and special occasions.
