Review Korilla Bbq - Brisbane

Terry Irvine
This was a first for my wife and I but fortunately we accompanied a couple who had been before. The dining experience is a unique experience where you get to cook your own food. I found it a great way to engage with our fellow diners and the food was great. To fully appreciate this type of Korean dining experience would require more visits to have an idea of the variety they have to offer. Not possible to give a definitive critique just on one visit. The service was exceptional.

You get what you ask for! We ordered the wavy set for about $169 and we got meat, meat and more meat. Good value for money, there was a point in the meal that we thought we weren’t going to finish. Staff The staff were obliging, I wish they ran us though what we were eating. Venue The venue was clean, toilets, not so much.

Great experience. Good menu for everyone’s tastes. The iced tea is very refreshing. The bbq is great. Definitely worth a visit. The staff are friendly and the restaurant has ample space and nice decor.

Such a beautiful Korean restaurant. Nice food and nice staff. Very clean and tidy, good atmosphere. I will try more food here next time. Highly recommend to visit this place.

Wow what a great experience. Quality of food was amazing, portion size was generous. Staff were friendly and helpful with the menu. Cost was reasonable. Yummy if you like Korean this place is a must!! 👍 Drink prices were good too🍺🥃

Busy kbbq joint that is on level 1 off Queen street. The meat was all delicious and had an amazing flavor because of the charcoal. I really enjoyed the kimchi pancake and would go back just for that! I think the sides could be more generous but overall I enjoyed my dining experience here

The staff were nice but one middle aged guy who seemed like the owner or manager was very impolite, even rude. I ordered a garlic pork belly and a teriyaki chicken. The pork came as frozen. After I put the meat on the bbq for only 1-2 minutes they burnt already, like it burned BLACK after such a short time. I asked for help but he said it was because of the marination so the meat should be burnt. I’ve had Korean bbq at many places for many times, i knew the quick burning was unusual and something was done wrong. The meat ended up being burnt on the outside and uncooked on the inside. Only two small serves of meat made the whole bbq rack completely black. Also about my inquiry why the pork came in as frozen, that guy said it was ‘chilled’ as I didn’t have any common sense of the difference between frozen and chilled. It’s my third time dining in here. This time was a very bad experience.

After a long walk along the river, sight seeing and shopping in Brisbane city centre look no further if you are craving for spicy Korean cuisine and Korean drinks to chill out & relax. Warm ambience, very friendly helpful staff to guide us through some really good dishes & drinks recommendations ! Will definitely go again to try new dishes !!!

The services was exceptional, the plates were cleaned as soon as we were done. The place is very clean. The bbq meat grade was fresh and tender and the dipping sauce was one of the best I ever had. The bingsu was also great too.

Had a full a mini birthday party held for me at this busy restaurant last Saturday night.<br/>We have not been back nearly a year and it is so surprised to see how busy it was last week.<br/>With a group of ten, we can taste a lot more dishes besides the bbq. Pancake, seafood hot pot, bibimap, cheese chicken with rice cakes, sweets& sour pork are all above the average. Wagyu beef roll, oyster blades and the six flavour pork belly came with very good quality. If the six flavour pork belly can be marinated with sufficient time than a full mark should be deserved.<br/>Rating: 4.5/5<br/>Previous rating: Sep 2019 4/5

Although a self professed KBBQ addict, readers may be surprised to know that I hadn't until recently, been to Korilla BBQ, situated conveniently upstairs on Queen Street.. The reason for this was largely because I had heard a fairly bad review of the food from a friend several years ago, so I didn't really prioritise trying it out. Having said that, I had since heard substantial amount of good feedback from other foodies, so we decided to finally go and check it out for a quick mid week dinner.

This is our Fav Korean bbq place in Brisbane City. Not amazing However value for fresh meat is pretty good. Service is nice and the atmosphere is clean and new. We got the Set Menu 2 for the beef option. It was perfect for us two and I would recommend for 3 people possibly buying 2 portions... that’s already 200$ though so just saying. We got a non-alcoholic Mojito pitcher and it’s basically lemonade with some lemon nothing special... specially for 13.50$

< Spicy Sausage and Noodle Hotpot 부대찌개 ><br/>• <br/> Was craving for some hotpot so we went to Korilla for some 😍 Ordered Spicy Sausage and noodle hotpot (a.k.a 부대찌개 Army Stew) , it came with 2 rice too ~ yummy 😋 Most of the people went there for Korean BBQ, but I didn’t try it yesterday since my craving for hotpot was more . Will definitely head there again to try out the bbq in the near future !!!

On the busy street or Myer Centre, we spot this Korean place. Right from the entrance it looked like a fancy setup. The decor and furniture looks upscaled. Gives you a feel of a premium place.<br/><br/>Full table service is provided, however you may be surprised to know it took more than 20mins for two bento box.<br/><br/>Each bento box comes for approximately 17$ and the meal is pretty large for one.<br/><br/>Opted for chicken crispy, which contained the honey chilly chicken and was sweeter than expectations.<br/><br/>Overall a value deal and a filler definitely.

Nice restaurant with good size table and seating. This is close to my office and it's a great place to escape to have a good meal and to relax a little. The lunch menu is really reasonable for the table service and the variety of food provided. Lunch specials include Bento boxes and a variety of bimbibap for around $15. Service is friendly and fast too. Leaving to go back to the real world is usually the hardest part.

the place has a nice interior (perfect for food snappers like me) and the bbq sets are so yummy! already recommended this place to all my friends who love kbbq!

The food isn’t the best in town, the atmosphere is nice and always full of people as well as being family friendly. Overall the customer service isn’t that great but last time I visited one of the female staff gave us an amazing experience in Korean barbeque and had an amazing conversation with us! Well spoken! I’ll come back not for the food but that service again!

Had a craving for Korean food and found this new establishment online. Nice interior decor and clean, most importantly not too smoky due to efficient exhaust fan. Nice food and quick friendly service. Surprisingly extensive list of drinks. We left satisfied and will be back soon. Thanks.

Surprisingly better than its rating. The service was fast and the food good. Mrs Canuck wanted a mixed gyoza entree but was told that she could only get one flavor when the come on a plate of five. Our mains were also delivered about 10 minutes apart. So a bit more effort in the kitchen to serve a table together is required.

Went there twice. The food was good, and decently priced. I got the beef bulbogi both times and *muah*. Only complaint would be that the chopsticks are really slippery.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant however was disappointed with their lack of flexibility. I was looking to order a bento box however do not eat chicken therefore I was hoping to swap the two chicken products (sushi and gyoza) for another flavour. It was explained to me why they couldn't due to being quick service which was fair enough however when I requested to not include these items and whether an extra serve of potato salad could be added, it was a flat 'No', again due to 'quick service'. This was a poor excuse, there was no room for flexibility despite not placing the restaurant out. Disappointing really as I was hoping to bring a big group, however will look elsewhere to dine.

We have been to this restaurant for several times since they opened. To be honest, the food and meat quality have dropped significantly, especially the wagyu beef. The food that I ate today, it doesn’t worth $150+. <br/>

One of the best BBQ in Brisbane, definitely underrated. It is worth the price with five different side dishes along the mains and an additional omelette on the side for grill orders.

I was greeted by friendly staff, and the great service continued for the whole lunch. I ordered the salmon Bi Bim Bab and a Seafood Pancake to share, and also the matcha iced tea. All the food was delicious and also quite cheap. Definitely recommend

Pretty pretty place. Great selection of music playing. Food is rich in taste and bouquet. Pricing is fair. Suitable for lunch or dinner. Cheese tteokbokki is mouthwatering. Definitely will come back.

Korilla seemed more popular with its BBQ, but we felt like soup tonight. Loved Korean soup for the fact that it promoted sweating to cool the body. <br/><br/>Started with a kimji pancake that didn't look appealing. It tasted quite nice though for its stretchy and chewy texture. Followed with a hot tofu stew and a kimji and pork stew. Of course, both soup was based on the same broth but the kimji one had more flavour thanks to the use of over-fermented kimji. The pork belly added in the kimchi soup was nice and thicker than other restaurants where thinly sliced pork were commonly used. For the tofu soup, giant spoonfuls of custardy soft tofu are added. It’s hot, spicy, filling and comforting. Just that both soup needed a bit more flavour. <br/><br/>The service was fast, yet indifferent. The "ding dong" bell located on the edge of every table, and staff responded quickly once we pressed it. <br/>

Vegetarian Okonomiyaki: one of the worst, loaded with mayo and sauce on top with not much filling in the middle, tastes like eating flour covered in mayo :(<br/><br/>Kimchi pancake: very thin and flat, not much on the inside<br/><br/>Both items are quite expensive given their poor quality and small servings

Looking for Korean is not that hard so I decided to come to Korilla. Initial service was prompt however water and side dishes either never came or took ages for refills. The meat was frozen and a bit tasteless and the BBQ set doesn't come with Rice?! Weird and annoying as the staff were inattentive to the table on a half filled restaurant.. disappointing just really disappointing. Don't bother..

The BBQ set menu is great value! We were stuffed sharing one between the two of us. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The overall atmosphere was great and I would highly recommend if you're after dining in the city!

Wow.. I am surprised to see how low the rating for this restaurant is. Arrived there at about 8.45pm and found it to be busy. The staff are friendly and the price is really reasonable. Had the marinated beef ribs and the "tri tip" wagyu 7+ marble score. They were yummy. Not only you get free side dishes as usual in a Korean resto, but you also get a large bowl of garden salad for free. The staff are also very eager to help you BBQ the delicious meet. Top notch!

My mind was thinking a juicy burger for a Sunday lunch, but instead I was sitting in Korilla BBQ , how did my partner do that !. So browsing the menu, it looks like BBQ is the way to go, but we felt like trying some of the cooked dishes from the kitchen. We were placed at a nice table and offered menus and told to press the button on the table when ready to order. We pressed and wow, the waitress appeared in seconds to take our order. We decided on the Pork Okonomiyaki pancakes, squid tempura and Terriyaki karrage with mayonnaise. I thought all the dishes presented beautifully, and all had some great flavours. The smoked onion skin flakes on the pancake is beautiful.<br/>I think we will definitely go back and try the BBQ as the menu looks to be good value and if the meals are like what we had, happy days. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and I would recommend this place to anyone.

Very average service and average food at average prices. My review echoes those who have previously written about Korilla. They are far superior Korean establishments just a stone's throw away. Stick to those.

I came to this restaurant for a work lunch and I had high expectations. Boy was I let down. The service was unorganised and it was obvious there was a lack of communication between the kitchen staff and FOH. The restaurant itself was beautiful - very clean.<br/><br/>We waited about an hour for 8 bento boxes and 1 bi bim bap - this might have been some what acceptable if it was busy but it wasn't. When our meals were finally ready, they didn't even come out together! They were brought to the table over a period of 20 minutes! Some parts of my bento box tasted like it had been in the window for a while before it was served. The only good thing in my bento box was the pattie - everything else was a let down. While we were eating, my boss asked for the menu so we could order dessert. 8 of us ordered ice cream - only 3 of us got ice cream (myself included) before the server came out to tell us that the both the green tea and black sesame ice cream had melted too much and the owner wont sell anymore of it. Let me insert here that my boss has already paid the bill by this point. They didn't even offer him a refund! My boss had to ask for vouchers for the amount that he had spent on the dessert that we never received. They threw in a couple more vouchers for the experience that we had but it was only after much discussion. I was originally going to give this place a 1 but the black sesame icecream I got was amazing. Not sure if I will be back.

Saw someone recommended this restaurant online yesterday so decided to have a look today. Lunch special was amazing, beautiful price with good taste. We ordered spicy chicken bento box(from lunch deal menu $13.5) and Short beef rib noodle soup ($15). Bento box was soo big and my boyfriend couldn't finish lol. My beef noodle soup was good as lots of beef inside. However the waiting time was a bit long. But still very would like to go again!
