Review Little Saigon Grill - Brisbane

Brett Tequila
Just don’t understand why so many places put the fresh herbs into the grill with the roll? It defeats the purpose of the balance of the freshness with the meats and pate’. It was just ok, would seem though that coriander and spring onions (none on this one) must be really expensive at the moment 🤷‍♂️ This is close to being the most expensive banh mi in town at $9, so their price set my expectation, sadly didn’t live up to it.

Excellent quality Vietnamese in the centre of the city. Service was friendly & quick. Prices were very reasonable & affordable for a quick lunch. The quality of the food was really top notch - very generous piles of crispy pork belly in both our rice noodle bowls & banh mi rolls. Will definitely be going back!!

The place is kind of hidden, you need to enter to the corredor where the Australian Post lockers are and it is rght in the middle. The service was fast but tables were dirty. We had the lemomgrass chicken vietnamese bread roll and the veggie bread roll. Both were very yummy and with lots of filling. I would go back!

One of the best banh mi you can get in Brisbane. The pork banh mi is heavenly. The pho however was so full of oil that I couldn't finish (that's all oil in the spoon)
Rahul Nath
Good food and lots of options. You also get the Vietnamese coffee here and is a must try if you have not had that before. Gets busy during lunch time but super fast service.

Do not ever eat at this place Little Saigon Grill - got raw chicken (when there actually was chicken & not fat/skin) & told them which they replied 'it has no blood on it it's fine' I said I had a low immune & wasn't risking it - they said ' it was thighs & that is how thighs are' well not when I cook it!! No apology no replacement & no offer of refund! 😡

if you’re after a quick meal this place is good. the food is fine but it doesn’t blow my tastebuds away or anything like that. some good veggie options.
Danny Teo
The pho is thicker than the ones I normally have but it was good. The beef was tender but the soup a bit salty. Add the sriracha sauce into the soup and it cuts the saltiness.

Its been over a year since I last went to this place. I ordered crispy chicken and noodles. I thought give them another chance. Once again disappointing. I looked at the bowl and the first thing I said to myself was the tides out. But the proof is in the eating. Didn't prove me wrong.

FOODIE ADVENTURE
One of my fav go to places for all things asian. I love the variety on the menu and the food is constantly great. Everything is always packed with flavour. I got a crispy pork belly laksa and it was delicious. It's very popular during lunch time so try getting there early.
_kreativecakes
Has to be the best laksa in town. The lines speaks for themselves. Its a hidden location but still there were lines. We were still served pretty fast. We ordered the crispy pork belly laksa. Omg lm still dreaming of this dish. From the beginning till the end we enjoyed every bite. The depth of flavour was amazing and the pork belly was crunchy and full of flavour. We will definately be back. Bring on winter and this amazing laksa.

The Pho was great and the price was reasonable for a good lunch. Service was quick and friendly. I would recommend for anyone working in the city who needs a break from the office space for a good meal to take your mind off of things.
HelenCo
Oh my dear lord... this is the place to be. Had the satay chicken roll and a bbq pork rice paper roll. DELICIOUS! And all for around 10 bucks. My new fave.
Sammie Luck
I saw a lot of great reviews on here and decided to give it a go. I was craving for my all-time combo of pho and three coloured drink to find out that they don't have it anymore, no matter how enticing it looked on the menu. I'm sorry to say but the pho itself was probably the least favorite pho I've ever had. All I got was sweetness from the broth, and herbs were already thrown in there. The meat was overcooked and each bite was just a bunch of things I did not like. Compared to other places where adding these things were optional, the dish itself became overpowered by all the other things inside and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth and a disappointing lunch.

These guys are prompt, friendly, cheap and tasty! Can't go past the rice paper rolls, the salads and definitely not the Pork Belly Banh Mi. That is my go to! Might even have it today for lunch. Solid Vietnamese iced coffees. The Pho is pretty good and the curries in the hot box are perfect for a chilly day or even just when you want some good flavours. Highly recommend

I got the braised pork belly banh mi. I particularly liked the buttery, perfectly toasted bun. The amount of butter may be a turn off for some people though. The insides were fresh and tasty.

However, the prices have been hiked up from when the photo of the menu here was taken - $7.90 for a classic banh mi if I remember correctly. Of course, this is still a very affordable meal, but expensive in comparison to other places that sell banh mi.

I've been here a few times now and the service is always super quick. The line is always long but it moves fast. Great menu options including traditional Vietnamese food, all done really well. I had the Vietnamese pad thai first which was very tasty. The second visit I tried the winter special of laksa with pork belly. It was utterly DELICIOUS, one of the best laksa's I've had and PACKED full of pork belly. The serving was huge and it had so much flavour, I didn't want my lunch to end. The dining room does get a little dirty with a high turnover of people and not a lot of cleaning tables going on but the food is terrific so I can overlook this. Highly recommended, I will definitely return again!

Pork belly with rice is amazing!
Perfect lunch time spot with great service and terrific food.
Be sure to get in early especially if you want to dine in as the line can get pretty long.

Fresh and tasty! Reminds me of the true flavours of dishes we've tried in Vietnam. It's busy, just like the streets of Saigon, for a reason! LSG is definitely the best and most authentic Viet cafe in the CBD. Please open for dinner or on weekends because I live in the Oaks right next door and I would be a regular customer!
Vuandtim
Simple Vietnamese food done well. Huge lines usually during the week, so fresh and tasty. Food does not take long to arrive once ordered. The vermicelli noodle options are a favourite and the Vietnamese pad thai style noodles are delicious.

We loved Little Saigon Grill's take on the pork belly banh mi. The crispy skinned pork was crunchy and flavoursome and they were very generous with the salad fillings. At $8.40, this is good value for the CBD. We were less than excited with our satay chicken salad though - we really didn't like the flavour of the chicken.

Best Banh Mi in town!

The Roasted Pork Belly Banh Mi is divine. The crispy pork skin, succulent pork pieces, combined with fresh vegetables, a kick from Sriracha dressing, contained beautifully in bread toasted to perfection is just to die for!

Their rice paper rolls are also good and fresh.

Dining maintenance during peak hours could be improved, however understandable due to limited staff.

The restaurant was recommended to me. It is apparently one of the nicest Vietnamese restaurant do tasty banh mi with lots of positive reviews here.
I made the wrong choice of ordering the grilled pork vermicelli salad, and I was deeply disappointed with the grilled pork.
Also, there are cheaper tastier vermicelli salad elsewhere in the city.
Positives: extremely fast service and good presentation.

Been on a banh mi thit hunting expedition recently and I had heard from authoritative sources that this place does some of the best banh mi in the CBD, so I went along to explore.
I ordered the crispy pork belly banh mi with chilli. and the meat, salad and bread were excellent. The only disappointing aspect was the 'butter'/egg mayonnaise and pate which really didn't come across well.
So overall, a very good but not excellent banh mi at an expected price in the CBD ($8.40), and good enough to warrant another visit for the banh mi and some other dishes.

Wholeheartedly agree with other reviewers' comments about Little Saigon being an absolute gem.

My all-time fav is the crispy pork belly banh mi and I also really like the crispy crepes. But in an attempt to mitigate damage from the silly season, today I ordered a healthy chicken lemongrass vermicelli salad. It was beautifully fresh & light. And due to a colossal communication breakdown when ordering, somehow I even ended up with extra chicken (no complaints!). Broseph cruelly taunted me with the deliciousness of his banh mi. Yep, thanks.

Really, really wish they opened for dinner or on weekends!

The best Vietnamese food in Brisbane city ! The tofu Vegetarian Bahn Mi is sooooooooo delicious! Not joking or exaggerating 😊 You should definitely give it a try even if you are not a vegetarian! My bf loves the vegetarian rice noodle salad. It's surprisingly delicious 👌🏽 Charlie Jenn Lian Ng

Absolutely amazing banh mis! Everything is very fresh and tasty here. Be careful when asking for chilli though....it's brutally hot if you're not used to it. Very good service and food is extremely quick. Would highly recommend this place!

Come here regularly for lunch. Fantastic fast and fresh. Would recommend to anyone for decent lunchtime feed. Crispy pork belly really is delicious!

Great lunch time spot. Tasty banh mi. Love the Laksa and Lemon Grass Chicken salad also. Really Awesome Love to go there . Great service also

It's not your fault you're so popular, LSG, but I struggled to get a seat during lunch and ate my beef pho in record time without being able to savour it. I'm going to go against the crowd and say it was pretty a average... Would you guys consider opening for dinner though? I'm sure there are many of us who would love to go there after work.

Best crispy pork banh mi period. The bun and the crispy pork are delicious and a must try. All meals are freshly prepared and get their just before 12PM to avoid the queue.

Food- 8.5
Value - 8.5
Decor - 8
Service - 8.5

Near-perfect bun with chicken spring rolls and tofu. She wouldn't let me add mushrooms, because she said it wouldn't taste nice. I didn't argue.
Brisfoodiefangirl
Quick and fresh dishes that are made with great ingredients. It's super busy but they get through the line pretty quick and have very reasonable priced meals!
Amy
I have been to many Vietnamese restaurants in the CBD and this has by far the best chicken lemongrass salad and rare sliced beef pho. Both delicious, fresh dishes and great value. Very fast service as well. However I have had better rice paper rolls in the city.

With the cool snap (finally) coming to Brisbane, a friend and I decided it would be a nice time to have a hot soupy meal for lunch. Not wanting to walk too far (and having heard that Kadoya is relocating), we thought it would be a good time to try out Little Saigon Grill, which has quite an online following.

All I have to say about this place is Little Saigon Grill serves good quality food considering Brisbane CBD standard. However the flavour is okay but definitely not up there with other Vietnamese places in suburban area.

They are quick and efficient, fresh and reasonably priced. Everything you want for a quick lunch during weekdays if you work in the area. It's not a place we would go out of our way to eat. But they would be one of the first choices if we were in the city for something.
Wilbur75
Still really good. Not a place for a long lunch, but great quality food and usually very quick. I only wish they were back closer to work (they used to be in rowes arcade).
The Tasty Plate
Little Saigon Grill is one of the best Vietnamese cafes in Brisbane. They get super busy but the service is friendly and generally pretty quick. The bahi mi's are delicious, I also really like the pork and prawn banh xeo (crispy crepe). The vermicelli noodle salads are also really nice for a lighter option.
Yorkie_Traveller
Dined in mid-morning and had the brisket Phở and an iced coffee. Both tasted great, the broth for the Phở was really tasty and there was plenty of beef too. Coffee was strong and sweet.

Very tasty and filling, will be back again for more tasty Vietnamese food and coffee

----- 13/07/2015 -----

Went back to try the Pork Belly Bánh mì, went just before the lunchtime peak rush, so didn’t wait too long to order or pick up my Bánh mì. The bread, pork and filling was tasty unfortunately I didn’t get the fresh chilli I asked for. Still, it was another tasty dish and am looking forward to trying some more dishes from here!

----- 01/07/2015 -----

Had a takeaway (house special) Phở and vietmanese iced coffee. Phở was filling, broth tasty and lean tasty beef. Not spicy unless you add some chilli. Only downside was that I'd have preferred more fresh herbs in there.

Will definitely return either for Phở or to try another dish.

This place is fantastic for a quick and cheap lunch.. Dined here on a Friday for lunch and ordered chicken satay salad and the Vietnamese version of pad Thai. Both meals were tasty and great value for money. This is now a regular place for me. Ps they do great takeaway meals too!

This was a meeting with one of the frequent contributors to Zomato/Urbanspoon in Brisbane, iHo. Trying out a few messages back and forth over a period of time, a couple of more direct contacts were swapped, and eventually an arrangement was made to finally meet up for a meal. This was done with quite a bit of convenience to scheduling.

After he asked if there were some places I had in mind to try out, this was among the options that I suggested - and well, you know the ending. I'm not reviewing Maru here now, am I? This coincided well with a class I had in town, and after class it was right to here to finally meet him and share some food. iHo was a really friendly and interactive man, and I definitely enjoyed going to lunch with him. I look forward to many more of these in the future.

For location, Little Saigon does well for being out of the way, and it might be a bit lacking in any sort of atmosphere. Even scaling back the rowdiness of the lunch-time rush, the surroundings are a bit on the bland side. Coming from Rowland Arcade to a new location, this is a small pedestrian-only laneway adjacent to Albert Street, and just diagonal to the Myer Center. It is hidden from the street, prompted only by either a sign or a quick look in to see many ardent diners.

With regards to the actual eating area, many tables are strewn around, some bigger than others but nevertheless this resumes the trend of market-style eating. Some have condiments, others don't, some have menus, other's don't - it is really whatever happens happens. One table off to the side a bit, just outside the main area was found by the two of us, and ergonomically conversation was much better and clearer there. After ordering and getting the food, the rest is self service - the condiments (including sriracha sauce), utensils and straws are the diners' responsibility.

Here is the thing about the service: don't expect that much of it for a simple reason. They got to get dozens, maybe even hundreds of orders out in a quick succession during the peak hours, so they have to streamline it as much as possible. Go one end of the counter, after a big line up and place your order as efficiently as possible - menus will be strewn around the place, so pick one up and peruse if you are indecisive. Step out of line if need be (that's what the two of us did), then order and pay. They still will be friendly.

Next they give you a buzzer, which goes off when your order is ready. This is not that far off being like a food court, maybe a one-outlet food court. Anyways, find your seat and the buzzer will go off quite quickly. The entire order might not come at once, and bits and pieces come when they come, so you get to keep hold of it in case of that; I know this through how it happened. It could also be via getting a numbered ticket and waiting - depends on whether it is eat in or takeaway.

This is one of the biggest menus that I have encountered for a while. It is still on the manageable side, getting doubled side on an A3 sheet - but it close to guarantees that there will be something for you to order. Most of the options are street food. By the by, can you tell it is Vietnamese?

Starting off, there is a range of fingers foods such as meat skewers, crepes and rice paper rolls. These can be bought individually, or as a selection to share for starters. They can make for a good snack if that is all you want or you're low on cash.

Next is a number of "carts" or sections of the menu, which have the popular dishes from Vietnam: bun, bahn mi, com, pho and noodle soup carts. At the banh mi station alone, you can see the lady there working non-stop cutting open many baguettes in advance, buttering them with pate, and adding the ingredients before toasting it; she never seemed to stop to catch her breath. One thing the bahn mis have over other places is they are close to "make your own", and many meats can be put in them.

The bun stall is mainly, choose your meat to go with the rest. Going to the com stall, it is like seeing an array of Vietnam's greatest flavours and ingredients - a greatest hit list if you will. That alone is probably longer than most of the rest combined; you're spoiled for choice with it. Following up, the pho cart which is the signature soup and their house specialty, and one last stall is for the simpler noodle soups.

Finishing it all off, there is a refreshments cart which offers the beverages and desserts. If you are feeling game, the refreshments cart has a lot of exotic drinks and desserts which are hard to find elsewhere. There a smoothies with fruits such as jackfruit, custard apple and avocado, along with coconut slushies, fresh juices and coffee among others. Desserts can vary depending on what is available, so this is one place to check back for regular visits.

Phew! That's a lot. Then, if none of that is to your fancy, there is a further display cabinet for more options. Variety is the name of the game here. Dining in, it all comes in bowls and plates - you still feel like you are in a restaurant.

There was one thing - okay two things, but two things in particular that I was going to get from this place right from the get go. The first was a bowl of the country's signature soup, pho. From memory I might have had this once or twice beforehand, but think I definitely need to try it more with the ardent reception in which it has.

This soup is made with a rich marsala of flavours. In the broth alone, there is beef stock, cinnamon, star anise, and ginger. Following that, along with the choice of meat, rich noodles are added followed by a garnish each of mixed herbs (including coriander), pickled onions, fresh chili, lime juice, Srirachi sauce, and fish sauce. Then you have one of the richest (in flavour) of soups, that tastes quite light in spite of it all.

It was a combination pho tai, with bits of beef brisket, meatball, sliced beef and bits of chicken. This was a good soup to drink. The flavours are there, not quite distinctly in your face, but give them time and they will become more noticeable. Each bit of meat was deliciously tender, and about as soft as butter in the mouth. The flavours had really come out of the flesh, and incensed themselves into the broth. The noodles were delicious, tender and soft, plus all the vegetables in the soup made for a good crunch. It's flavour was strange, and everything went together well. It had a bit of sophistication to it, and was a meal in itself even at that smaller size. The broth was really hot, and made it all the better.

If there is a better place for pho within Brisbane, feel free to give me some suggestions as I will certainly attempt to check them out.

Then, the second thing that I was going to get was to try durian in some form. This was all pre-meditated, and known about beforehand - durian is not a given anywhere in this nape of the woods. The menu of exotic fruit smoothies contained several options, including this infamous fruit. So, on the side I ordered a durian smoothie.

Okay, what has to be said about durian that has not been said already? It was not to iHo's liking particularly, and this is an acquired taste to be sure. I had given it a bit of a go in Singapore, but the smell eventually put me off a bit; still, to give the indication I have finally tried it - I would eat almost anything to prove it here. Trying it in a drink, this actually has a pretty pleasant taste. You might just need to either eliminate or get over the smell and all is good (as I've been told, the infamous smell is in the skin).

This was the perfect sort of drink on a hot day. It was ice cold, literally using ice as one of the ingredients. Additionally, the beverage was also very thick that it required getting one of the thick straws instead; and having it thick actually makes it better for hot days. Face it, how often have you gotten a cold drink and it was gone before you knew it in the heat? Kind of sucks, right? Well, with the smoothie being extra thick, and kind of big as well, it lasted long enough to be satisfying.

With a combination of ice, condensed milk, regular milk and the choice of fruit, this goes down a treat and is one beverage I actually don't mind forking the cash out for the price tag - I feel it is worthy, decent value and has a bit of a novelty act to it. Both the milks made it very creamy, with the condensed variety taking the place of ice cream, and the smooth nature of the durian blended well making a slightly sweet drink. It makes me tempted to try out the other exotic fruits.

Seconds were certainly on the agenda, and iHo suggested to wait it out due to the really quick service. He seems like my sort of guy, big eater and always willing to make room for dessert. iHo just went for a coffee, but for me I though try something else - something a bit unusual to me. This ended up being sticky rice with sugar banana.

I liked it, but it is a bit difficult to explain how. This is sort of an acquired taste, mixes of an odd gluttonous texture combined with a different sort of sweet. The banana has a different taste to the ones that are found in most supermarkets. They were big bits of banana, and the rice was soft and gooey (it reminded me a bit of a risotto in all honesty), making for a simple finish to the meal.

How on Earth was I going to go to a Vietnamese place, and somehow not weasel out one of the characteristic iced coffees? It's coffee, what do you expect? Sometimes the coffees from these places can be underwhelming. Often there is not much of the coffee flavour, or it is a bit on the weak side. Not here, as both the strength of the coffee and the sweetness of the condensed milk are in for equal measure. That makes for one real sugar rush, and a big hit of caffeine as well, along with a combination of sweet and bitter and not too much ice. Win-win-win! Heck, in the meantime I have come back just to get a coffee; the hot weather suits it.

There are cuisines where when you try them, you get reminders in different ways for why you like them so much. Vietnamese is one of them for me, and Little Saigon Grill managed to awaken me once again. Some places well and truly get their reputation for quite an obvious reason, and here is another one of those. It knows fully well what it is. The food is both fresh and tasty, it is done quickly and on-the cheap plus I think I might have found the perfect, guilt-free place for brief lunches between appointments in a busy schedule.

Thumbs go up to Little Saigon Grill. I might not have tried you at the original location, however I do believe that this new locale is going to suit you well for a long time.

Went to Little Saigon Grill to get the pork belly bahn mi and I was not disappointed. The bread was fresh and crunchy, the pork belly was cooked perfectly and the balance of the Bahn mi was great. Will definitely come back

I adore this place! Everytime I have visited, I have been impressed with the food and always have a good time. I can personally vouch for the seafood laksa, vermicelli salad with vege spring rolls and the vege banh mi. Thank you for providing Brisbane with an authentic vietnamese experience (other than Inala). This is my favourite viet restaurant in town. I only wish they remained open at night for dinner.
Vuka
One of the best Vietnamese street food places I've tried. It's a great place to get lunch. The food is delicious and affordable, and the staff are friendly.
Howgoodisfoodbut
Absolutely amazing crispy pork laksa! Would highly recommend giving this place a try.. Will definitely be back to try the rice paper rolls..

Bang on best street food style Vietnamese in Brisbane. Fave picks are lemongrass pork Bahn mi with chilli, chicken spring roles, Vietnamese style chicken curry and combination noodle soup. Can't go wrong here, has been doing exceptional, quick Vietnamese eats for years and always delivers

Tries this small eating place again today. Unfortunately it was not as good of experience as my first visit hence I have to deduct the rating from 4 to 3.5. I ordered pho, which should be the fair way to judge vietnamese restaurant. The broth was salty and not as tasty as other restaurant pho. service was slower despite the fact that it was off hour. I saw my order ready but the lady insists it wasnt mine until 15 min. By that time, the soup wasnt hot anymore. The good thing was, I also tried the banhmi and it was as good as ever. So, yes to banhmi no to pho!!

1st visit: Tried bbq pork banh mi and crispy pork banh mi today. While they tasted pretty decent for banh mi, they are predictable. Some said the satay bahn mi is more unique. Maybe will try that next time. Really fast service. And the staffs were friendly. Definitely recommended.

Bahn-mi was the most delicious roll I've ever tasted, packed with flavour. Great service, friendly staff and clean place. Will definitely be returning with friends.
Judy2613
I had Bahn-mi for lunch and will not eat there again. Beef was very tough and salty, almost not eatable. Also, it was filled with just carrot and cucumber for vegetables.

The best Viet in Brisbane CBD! Perfecto for us as we're city workers yippee! Very reasonable prices with Banh Mis at around $7-8 and a massive bowl of Pho for only around $11-15. Highly recommend. And always amazing service!
Jason.chan87
Have yet to have a bad meal.... Three different meals down and everytime I'm wow'd! I've tried Pho City, AJ's and ROLLD but this is by far the standout. The Banh mi thit is better than the ones from the bakery in inala civic centre across from Suncorp bank! It's that good I ate two in one sitting. Yes it's dearer but this is city prices and they are quite generous in their serving. Hanoi Chicken rice is presented beautifully, chicken cooked perfectly and very fragrant broken rice. I would ask the ginger shallot be served separately as some may find this makes the meal too oily.

The best Viet in the CBD!. I walk a good 15-20 minutes at least once or twice a week to this place for lunch. I have to say, I'm not a fan of the beef pho (soup has an odd flavour and it's overpriced) but literally everything else is tasty! My picks are: "design your own" Banh mi with bbq pork, braised pork belly and honey pork skewers ($7.50); lemongrass chicken salad ($4.90 for small); satay chicken salad (4.90 for small); vermicelli bowl with lemongrass pork ($11.90 and HUGE).

If you go around 12pm or 1.45pm, the lines aren't as long. Tip: there's actually more tables and chairs around the corner in the alley heading to Elizabeth St so try there if you can't find a spot.

These guys are so popular that they are opening a store at Riverside in March (where Little Singapore used to be). It authentic and reasonably priced. Thumbs up from me!
Crix
WAS the best CBD banh mi. When they were in Rowes arcade, I was addicted to their banh mis. I took all my friends their cause I was so impressed. I haven't visited their new store in a while and I ordered my usual and wow was I shocked. Their banh mis are really sub par now. I'll visit again in the future to see if there are any improvements, but for now I am staying well away.

RE: Dirty Place. I have been going to Little Saigon at least once a week since it opened in its new location and I have NEVER had a problem with cleanliness or customer service. The food is wonderful and the best value lunch eat in the city IMO. Maybe Diego should stick to the food court next time?
Diego_lopezau
Dirty place. The place is just filthy I went for lunch at 2 pm and I was impressed of how dirty the place was
My girlfriend bought a noodle soup , that was nice! But they could improve their customer service and keep tidy with environment .
Mak3upandfood
Good food, good service at reasonable prices! What else do you need?! Would definitely be coming back again!

My favourite lunch place in the city. Absoultley love the rice-paper rolls. They are jam packed with all sorts of goodies - lemon grass chicken, satay chicken, spicy tofu, hoisin duck..and much much more. The vermicelli rice noodle salads are really good too. Huge servings and great value. Yum!

What a great place so real down to earth and a great chef/ owner we had a awesome meal very authentic. 5 rubber chickens

Best Authentic Vietnamese Food In Brisbane . Rarely do I ever have a dining experience that makes me want to come back for more, but since discovering Little Saigon Grill I have come back almost daily because I am ADDICTED. The food here is authentic, generous and absolutely delicious. Although I haven't personally been to Vietnam myself, I somehow feel like I'm there every time I eat at Little Saigon Grill. The atmosphere and extremely friendly and genuine staff add to the dining experience.

I am a vegetarian who is giving a huge tick of approval when it comes to the veggie friendly options that are so readily available. My absolute favourites are the vegetarian 'Banh Mi' and 'Banh Xeo', both of which are packed full of flavours and are an absolute taste sensation (even my non-veggie friends love it)!

I highly, highly, highly recommend Little Saigon Grill to everybody. Definitely a thumbs up from me!
Laubster
Amazing. Thai beef noodle salad, crispy pork belly banh mi, chicken curry, laksa nom nom nom. The rice paper rolls are great even though I don't fancy mint and in their iced coffee they use sweetened condensed milk. Heaven! Well priced and definitely value for money. I walk from the barracks to here about twice a week just for a feed and haven't been disappointed yet.

So Good!. Fresh, tasty, well presented and well priced food in a great location close to the centre of the city. The only problem with lunch at Little Saigon most days is the queue! It's hidden away in the arcade between Albert Street and Elizabeth St, in the 123 Albert Street tower on the corner of Albert and Charlotte Streets. I'm sure that it is going to quickly become a favourite.

Comment from a Vietnamese student. I have come here couple times with my boyfriend as he wished to tried Vietnamese food and I had been struggling find the most normal, acceptable price that we (are still students) can afford.

We tried banh mi, Vietnamese baguette with chosen meat, shredded chicken is my favorite cause it's simple, pickle, coriander, shredded carrot + sliced cucumber. Once, they ran out of shredded chicken and offered me to replace it with lemongrass chicken, while my boyfriend's banh mi with 3 choices of meat (I chose meatball in tomato sauce as it's kind of tradition and he chose BBQ pork + pork ham). He enjoyed it but he was honest to say he preferred shredded chicken as me, my lemongrass chicken was awful. I'm as a Vietnamese, saw it as curry chicken, if I compared it to real Vietnamese food, cause it didn't taste like lemongrass chicken to me, too much sauce which it's supposed to be dried a bit and taste so much like curry chicken in Vietnam. Also, the first time I gave him a tried with com dia stall, detailed, com tam - pork combination rice included char-grilled lemongrass pork chop, fried egg, meatloaf, pickle and nuoc mam - fish sauce. To him it was his first time so he enjoyed (he's easy, I'm picky, I know, when it's your national food, you cannot go wrong with it and want it to be exactly the same as in your country so who you introduced that to would be able to taste the deliciousness and how it's supposed to taste like). Meatloaf was done wrongly, it's not fried, it need to be steamed, here they put so many bean thread; the char-grilled pork chop was thin, not marinaded long enough that it was not realy embued and taste a bit different from how it's done in Vietnam. Also, avocado smoothie disappointed me a lot, I asked the owner to have less ice and sugar, I had sore throat but has been a long time haven't drunk avocado smoothie so decided to try it here. It was so tasteless, icy (too much ice) that I could barely taste the avocado even it was avocado season.

Overall, the price was ok, compared to another Vietnamese foodcourt in Queens Plaza (so expensive and doesn't even worth). I cannot ask them to do exactly as what I want as well as how it's supposed to taste like as it's in Vietname, just approximately is fine.

Be careful when you come here for lunch, long queue, prepare cash cause EFTPOS min. is $10 and visa is $12.

I'm not sure what all the negative reviews are about and I just love how everyone on Urban Spoon is always an expert on what should be an "authentic" pho - honestly, there is no such thing as one single authentic pho recipe. So with that in mind I think Little Saigon Grill has a pretty decent pho, not the greatest I've had but still pretty good. I would say I felt the broth could have been hotter but this was a minor issue. It's a good location, very busy and the staff are friendly and cheery. The other meals on the menu - particularly the broken rice dish - looked outstanding. Would return

Not up my expectations. I am a big fan of pho, and been tried many pho in Melbourne, even brisbane as well. Be honest, the pho is taste a bit weird here. haven't eaten pho like this. I believe that pho is a cretira to judge whether a Vietnamese restaurant is good or not. This restaurant has been over rated. probably would not come again.

Not up to standards. I've been to many Vietnamese restaurant in Australia as well as in Vietnamese and this place does not hit the mark. Banh Mi is not fresh and flavoursome. Crispy Omelette is not crispy and way too oily. Rainbow (3 Colours) drinks is of poor standards. Ice is too big, too much mung beans and not enough green jellies or red bean. On top of that the straw they give you is tiny. Very disappointed :(

Sad to be no longer close by to it. Moved offices from the part of town where Little Saigon Grill is to up around George St and will miss this place which has stupendous value for money lunchtime grub that tastes excellent. If you're in the city, their banh mi as well as their other lunchtime fare is worth a wait in line for.

Great bahn mi...

Lovely!. A lovely little place for lunch on the run in the CBD or takeaway for the office.

Had the special banh mi, the crispy pork belly, it was fantastic! It definitely should be a part of the normal menu!

Sensational banh mi!. Fabulous banh mi with lashings of pâté, butter and chilli. The pickled carrot is divine! Choose the Saigon Special for a three meat delight.

Little Saigon Grill. Don't think this should be listed as a restaurant .Being visitors to Brisbane we used Urban Spoon to find a restaurant for dinner on Saturday night When we found Little Saigon we realized it was a take away in an arcade and not open on Sat night or on Sunday.

Good value. I can see why this place gets good reviews. Tried the vermecelli salad with "sugar cane prawn" don,t expect actual prawns as i got some kind of fried prawn meat stuff, but hey it was still tasty. It is a place i would definitely come back to to try some of the other items though as they looked very good.

Absolutely great lunch time joint... Oo I was dreaming of the roast pork belly with rice and I wasn't satisfied. Absolutely perfect... Plentiful amount of rice and crispy pork... And the price $7.50.. Can't complain

Only had the Bahn Mi which was good - especially for $5.90. Not the best I've had, but best in Bris so far.

Decent Vietnamese. Nice made-to-order bahn mi. A few dollars dearer compared to what you can get in Inala or Darra...but this is Brisbane CBD afterall. Much better then the soggy pre-made versions sold at several Viet bakeries scattered around the inner city suburbs. Make sure you try the sago pudding too. The combined flavours of coconut milk and palm sugar put a smile on my face. :-)

Banh Mi is good for me. After having a disappointing form of the Vietamese filled baguette recently, we spent a while hunting this place out online to see if there was somewhere in Brisbane that did something close to resembling the authentic version. Little Saigon Grill did not let us down. The ingredients and flavours were far nearer to those purchased on a Ho Chi Minh St, with favourite ingredients like meat paste, chilli and coriander all in abundance. The pork classic Bahn Mi was just what I was after and I am curious to give the meat ball option a go. For $5.90 this is a great lunch choice and we will be back to try more of the array of delights on offer at Little Saigon.

I wish I could tell you I was letting you in on a well kept secret but Little Saigon Grill goes off every day. Tucked away in a little laneway off Albert street, Little Saigon Grill serves up well priced Vietnamese food. I've been to Little Saigon Grill a few times for workday lunches and usually get a banh mi. The pork belly ban mi is just amazing, but this time I was on the hunt for pho. Banh mi station on the left and everything else on the right Since my visit to Pho An restaurant in Sydney, I've been hankering for that amazing taste of authentic pho. I've had it around here and there and it's just never quite hit the spot. Given the amazing banh mi at Little Saigon Grill, I had high hopes. As I said, Little Saigon Grill gets very busy during the work week but the line moves fast and they have an efficient system, with a busy banh mi station down one end and the hotbox and al a carte items available from the other. I ordered Pho Bo Vien - beef pho ($11.90) and my dining companion ordered Banh Mi with tofu ($6.90).

We had an awesome time at Little Saigon Grill! The owner Thanh was so friendly and passionate. That passion resonated in the food. Darrell loves Vietnamese food and was very happy such a great place was only a few metres from his work. They've definitely gained a lunch time regular! If you haven't checked out this gem we recommend that you do!

Little Saigon Grill is a larger, bigger reincarnation of it’s old days at Rowes Arcade. As someone who’s never worked in the CBD, I’d never heard of this place. Nonetheless, I am always on the look out for great tasting, authentic food. It’s tucked away in Albert St behind the Coffee Club with a modern fit out with recycled wooden tables, bright red signage and hanging edison bulbs and lights. After opening for just 3 days, Nic and I joined a small food blogger’s lunch hosted by the owner, Thanh Tran. Don’t mistake this as a small lunch, small is referring to the group size. No, no. This was a huge lunch! We started off with a hands-on experience with refreshing entrees and salads. The bahn xeo (Vietnamese crispy pancake) filled with pork and prawn as well as bean sprouts. This was wrapped up in a lettuce leaf with pickings from a basket of fresh ingredients such as mustard leaves, perilla, mint, carrot and cucumber. Together this was dipped in nuoc cham (a Vietnamese dipping sauce whi

One of the specialties at Little Saigon Grill is their take on rice paper rolls and they have over ten varieties available daily. Served on the day were the lemongrass chicken and hoisin roast duck, served with a big bowl of hoisin sauce covered in peanuts. The rice paper was translucent and you could clearly see that they were packed with ingredients and full of vibrant colour. I loved both varieties but couldn't make up my mind if they went better with hoisin sauce or dipped into the sweet dipping sauce from our first course.

Now, I think I might be (or definitely is) biased when I say that my favourite food from Little Saigon Grill is the vermicelli salad. The roast pork belly is very yummy but my favourite has to be their lemongrass chicken.

Stick to their Vietnamese yellow curry. Yummy.

The roll was large, crusty and super fresh. The filling was crisp and flavoursome with cucumber, carrot, noodles and lot of coriander.

The broth is quite different from other phos – its thick muddiness is rich with bone marrow flavour and spiced with ginger, star anise, cassia bark and cardamom. The amount of fresh rice noodles is modest, and I found it difficult to pick up with chopsticks. The noodles fell apart too easily from being overcooked, making lunch a clean affair rather tricky.

Little Saigon Grill is fantastic place for some decent Vietnamese food that won't burn a hole in your pocket.

Crispy Vietnamese Pancake (Banh Xeo): a savoury pancake made of rice flour, with turmeric providing the intense yellow colour. We were provided with a massive bowl of fresh lettuce, mustard leaves, herbs, cucumber and carrot to accompany this dish. How to eat this pancake? Wrap a piece of the pancake in a huge lettuce leaf with other vegies and herbs, and dip into the accompanying nuoc cham (dipping sauce).
