My last visit of this patisserie was Oct. last year because I am prions to introduce this local gem to my guests from Hong Kong.
Upon the first step in, I noticed that they serve more varieties than what I expected. Particularly, those croissants with spicy salmon and fish roes.
Ordered different types of croissants to go with the nice prepared coffee for my guests. Needless to say, their thumbs keep right up while they are having their breakfasts.
Lol!

Lovely bakery, always busy. The pastry is just simply awesome. Croissants are good but my favourite is the cinnamon apple puff pastry. That's absolutely amazing. They service good coffee as well. Be sure to get in there earlier or things will sell out.

Not often I'd get out of bed for pastries, but given the goodness to be found at The Whisk from international award winning chef Justin, I might just have to do it again and wake up earlier next time!

On this (my first) visit we enjoyed:
* chocolate & almond croissant, $5.80
* peanut butter croissant, $5.70
* cinnamon apple pastry, $5.80

The place is pretty small and tables/seats are at a premium. We manage to nab one of the last remaining tables for 2, and squeeze the boy on my lap. A small sacrifice/inconvenience for good food 😉
.
Whilst surveying the choices in the cabinet, I spot a sign for their new Kransky sausage & caramelized onion with smoked BBQ sauce croissant, and my heart was sold. Unfortunately it was actually out of stock... so here's hoping for better luck next time!

Came here on Saturday morning, the place was not crowded. I and my boyfriend managed to get a table inside. The place was rather small and does not have many tables. The outside decorated to be like rustic, but the inside and the way they display the croissant are modern.

Ordered a small latte, a large latte, an almond croissant, and a chocolate croissant. All orders were perfectly made but delivered rather slowly. Both croissants tasted really great, but I personally liked the almond croissant more. I tried eating it nicely with fork and knife, but it turned out messy as the croissants were flaky.

I might come back here in the future to try out the other pastries :).

Suburban Gem
Tucked away in the back streets of Upper Mount Gravatt and in an area famous for Asian food, this gorgeous little patisserie was a surprising find. The pastries are presented beautifully, and are buttery and flaky - and well deserve the awards they have won. We thought the coffee was unremarkable though - but that's because we like strong coffee.

Best pastries in Australia. The caramelised pear is my all time favourite. I’m not even a fan of macarons, but theirs are amazing. The coffee is really nice too. Definitely a hidden gem of a place. Be sure to get in early for a full selection of pastries as they often sell out.

Dropped in this morning for a coffee and croissant. The staff here are always helpful with so many goodies on offer. I place my order and take a seat outside. My double shot Cafe Latte arrives within a few minutes. A very good cup of coffee, hot and strong. And a big improvement on my last weak coffee here.

I ask for my large Almond croissant to be warmed 20 seconds in the microwave and it is perfect. I really enjoy this warm croissant with my hot coffee. My overall rating improves from my previous review to 4.5/5.0! Well done guys!

This little hole in the wall patisserie behind the Village looks unassuming but sells the best croissants and danishes in Brisbane! Here’s a tip - call ahead and reserve your order so you don’t show up and get disappointed because they sell out fast! I love the almond croissant and tried their pear and caramel danish the other day - so good! They also make lovely little cakes that are as delicious as they are beautiful.

-Matcha cheesecake
Very light and smooth. Good layering, with some chewy bits in the middle

-mango coconut gâteaux
The coconut goes pretty well with the mango jelly inside. A Good choice if you’re after something a bit sweeter.

Always out of stock when we visit, which is why I waited for a couple of more visits before I submit a review. My rating is based on the quality of the desserts only, for convenience I would've given a higher rating if they could top up their pastries throughout the day.

Noticed this cafe in passing and decided to drop by as hadn't had breakfast. Ordered a chai latte and the peanut butter croissant to take away. Although i ordered a regular size (only have reg and lrg) I found the cup to be small - having said that it was $4 so was fine with it. Croissant was nice. It's a small but cute little shop that has also had awards in the past. The pastries looked amazing. Would pop by again if I'm in the area.

After several recommendations and positive reviews from our Zomato community, we finally made our way to Whisk. The simple but elegantly decorated café specializes in fine pastries and sweets. We were there weekday afternoon and found majority of cakes and croissants were sold out. With the limited selections we chose: almond croissant, passionfruit almond tart, mango coconut cake to share and caffeinated drinks.

The cappuccino and latte was well presented with beautifully poured latte art. Cleanskin coffee beans were utilized with a smooth mouthfeel combining hazelnut and chocolate after taste. Being a coffee junkie myself, I find the blend to be on the mild to weak side. 3.5/5

The almond croissant presents a generous serving size with roasted almond flakes lightly dusted with sugar. The croissant was crispy on the outside and nice and airy on the inside. The sweet almond filling was well balanced and at no point overpowered the buttery croissant taste. To me, this is the best almond croissant south of the river. 4/5

The passionfruit almond tart was elegantly presented with a pavlova droplet on top. First taste & I was blown away by the perfect sweet and sour balance with big passionfruit and lemon. The tart base was crispy, buttery with light almond flavours. Combined together, your get a fruity yet complex citrusy taste with an elegantly buttery linger. I never thought I would say this but this is the perfect tart from my humble opinion. 5/5

The mango coconut cake was again beautifully presented siting on a thin almond chocolate biscuit base with a touch of roasted coconut & caramelized orange zest on top. The cake has a centre filling containing diced pineapple in mango gel. The smooth coconut taste was enhance by the fragrant filling and complemented by the crispy almond chocolate base. The complex depth of flavour and perfectly balance mouth feel made my taste buds excited. Bravo! 4.5/5

The pastry chef (Justin Yu) has won several prestigious awards and represented Australia in international pastry competitions. The offerings here clearly reflect Justin’s talent in creating international quality treats.

Hint: Things sell out real quick here so make sure to come before lunch. Their decent variety of macaroons is a solid 4/5.

I really am not a sweet tooth (in denial ? I don't know) but I've never been one to finish anything that was sweet or pastry.... until a friend told me about this place.

I honestly went there the next day at 11:00am all the pastries was sold out!!! The pastries are made on the day. We were only able to get the mini tarts. This pastry chef is really someone with an amazing palate and also has a high attention to detail. I almost can't put it into words, the flavours are well balanced like ... PERFECT! All the flavours complimented each other so perfectly, the base held its structure yet crumble delicately In your mouth and there's nothing I can fault about it.

Okay it doesn't end there, I asked the ladies what time does the Pastries sell out and she said normally before 12pm. I made sure I went there before 10.30am so I wouldn't miss out on 'drum roll' "Caramel Pear Tart" O M G. This pastry chef has truly perfected the flavours and also balance each flavour that has been used. That caramel pear tart is one of a kind, you should really eat this alone with some coffee or save it for dessert 😅

All the croissants that he has made has always had the perfect flakiness / butteryness / light crumbles.

Thank you 'The Whisk Fine Patisserie'

You guys are my favourite hidden pleasures !

This patisserie has been on my to-go list for quite some time, especially after hearing so many good things about this place. A lady who was married to a Parisian pastry chef even said the croissants here were the best she's had outside of Paris...! After taking some time off and reopening early February on a Wednesday, I came by around 11am but absolutely everything had been sold. I came back today (Friday) at 8am driving through 1 hour plus of peak hour highway traffic and thankfully all pastries were available and they were still finishing up on the tarts and cheesecakes. I have to say the trip was worth it. The croissants and danishes were absolute divine - light, flaky and melt in your mouth and coffees were great. Definitely rivals Chouquette. Looking forward to trying more from Justin and his team. As everyone has mentioned, get in early to guarantee choice and availability, but it'll definitely be worth it.

We go here almost every Friday now, it's a super cute little cafe/patisserie, their croissants are seriously to die for, I always go for the chocolate almond. Coffees are smooth and consistently good. Staff are always very friendly and it has a good vibe. My only issue is that they sell out too soon! So you have to get in early.

Had visited this place on a Tuesday previously & it was closed -as they are on Mon & Tues!! So off we rocked on a Thursday (unfortunately too late to try out the almond croissants) It was about 12pm when we arrived & most of the treats had walked out the door earlier to a hungry clientele  it seems!! (No wonder when one glances at the wall & notes the awards thses guys have received.) The coffee made up for it though was smooth & delicious with a good hit.

Go there around 10ish, I wouldn't say it was super busy, but the indoor tables were all already taken. Most of the pastries are gone, so I'd just take a plain croissant, would love to try the peanut butter one though. Ordered a large cappuccino as well, it would be lovely if the coffee and the croissant were served at the same time, but the coffee came rather late after I got the croissant. The croissant was quite huge considering I only had croissant from Starbucks before...it was really flaky. :) coffee was actually the highlight of my experience.

Even if it is far from the most unlikely, or not even ranking within some of the most likely of places where it is, I would never have thought of all the possibilities that this would be where it is. To make it shorter, of all the places to be on this back-street, a Parisian style patisserie would not have come to mind. That is what was happening on the bottom level of this apartment block, made by an award winning pastry-chef (if in doubt, just look at the wall when you get in). Regardless of just how highly I think of it, it was really welcome around here.

It is the old combination of both of us liking our coffee, needing to find a new place, and (most importantly) supporting the local area's businesses. From some time being around the area, I had noticed this out of the corner of my eye and managed to keep it in the back of my head. One day, it was the usual wanting for a cup of coffee and I told my dining buddy/housemate about this place and off we were to here.

No kidding around, this place is small. You could barely fit even a small apartment in the entire space there is, but from just a look of it, and a short stay in for coffee, a big impression about it was made. The whole look of the place was immaculate. Not one single inch of it was out of place, nor blotched or anything. It was like perfectionism in a small package. Inside has a few tables tucked around To give it more of that European feel, much of the seating is al fresco and the tables are fairly small. There is also the high level of service here. It is efficient, and very polite. Even without getting to the product, you know you are in for something slightly better than normal coming here.

With what they serve here, it is another case of "keep it simple, sir". The range of items comes down to several different pastries (including heaps of croissants), a bunch of cakes, hand-made chocolates and several flavours of macaroons. They even don't fall back on taking food away; the boxes have an appealing look to them. Coffee and tea are also available to have on the side. What more of a combination do you need?

The coffee that they use comes from Cleanskin, and from memory this can be a pretty good coffee in the right hands. Well, count this place as being in the right hands. That doppio I had was really good. Everything that it needed to be: a decent temperature to drink, it had a lovely and slightly sweet flavour, and it was also well extracted.

As for the sweet on the side, well a pastry is needed to give a patisserie a fair go. What I went with was an escargot. Well, was it mentioned beforehand that this is at the hands of someone who has won awards for his pastry-making skills? Because if I have not, the chef Justin Yu, has won numerous awards from it. This was a tasty little treat, sweet from both the raisins in it, and a molasses that they used when baking. Throughout the pastry was a buttery texture, and the pastry itself was flaky and soft. If the cards are played right - so far, so good - this place will have a good future.

I can certainly see a lot of the appeal, much of it being because it is off the main drag and thus can get an aura of authenticity that might not otherwise be possible. With the price tag, it might vary from person to person with how worthy it is, though in its defense it is worthy from how much they care about the quality of the product. This is not like your usual bakery, and it is with meticulous perfectionism that the food comes out (hence a 4.0 score, much higher would need more justification than I feel is possible). What really distinguishes it is the aesthetic and philosophy that the place has. With it already being a local favourite, and one of consistently high quality, there is a hidden gem for now on the back streets.

Every time I've been here, I always walk out with a Peanut Butter Croissant as well as an Almond Croissant. Be sure to get in early as they can sell out well before closing time. The desserts are also incredible and Instagram worthy! My only negative is the large takeaway coffees. The small tastes well however the few times I've gotten a large TA, it's too strong.

A smidgen of Paris in Upper Mount Gravatt. Oo, La, La, C'est très magnifique . Ok, that is the extent of my high school French. This place is lovely and a very up market and  indeed fine Patisserie.
My first impressions were that it was impeccably clean. A great deal of thought has gone into the fit out. I love the colour scheme inside and the fact that you can look through the clear glass window, behind the counter into the stylish kitchen. We sat down and enjoyed our Cleanskin coffees, with the sounds of a string quartet wafting in the background.
My cappuccino was delightful and my friend had one of the scrolls, which he enjoyed. There is a wide selection of cakes and other gastronomic delights on offer. While I was waiting a young lady came in and bought 20 croissants for one of the offices across the road.
This place deserves to do well. All I can say to them is au revoir for now, but we will return in the near future.

I had a delicious raspberry Danish and a decent cappuccino here today. Lovely atmosphere. For a moment you feel you're far away from a back street in mount Gravatt, and maybe in a little side street of Paris. The chef came out to check we enjoyed our meals which was a nice touch. I'll be back.

A lovely place to have really good quality pastries and cakes!
I'm not usually a Croissant person, but the Peanut Butter one I had was very good. My friend loved her cheesecake with blood orange.

The barista seemed friendly and the wait staff were attentive.
The pastry chef even came out to see how the customers were going so that was very nice too.

Although there's not much seating inside, I'm happy to see they have baby chairs and seating outside where there should be enough room for prams.

Looking forward to going back and trying more items. A lot of the pastries do sell out though so be quick!

Being quite a fan of french patisseries, despite living in the southside, my regular go to is at Le Bon Choix in the CBD, or at Chouquette at New Farm as I can't find another authentic bakery nearby. Fortunately though, I read quite a number of articles recently on a new patisserie situated near Garden City at Upper Mt Gravatt opened by an award winning pastry chef, Justin Yu. Having heard that they sell out early, I convinced a friend to take me there in the early hours of Saturday to try it out.

Picked up a few pastries for breakfast w friends and they were all delicious. The sour cherry danish was definitely the favourite overall! Reasonably priced pastry and good coffee. Easy street parking for a quick pop in. Only thing I would change is to have boxes available for big/4+ pastry orders (would happily pay extra for a box) but not a big deal and doesn't take away from how great this place is!

Just got some croissants and one latte from the shop. The croissant is definitely on point. However the latte is kinda too bitter for me to drink it up. Might be the reason they use the deep dark roast coffee beans. Overall, would like to visit again and try the tarts next time.

Whisk maintained their consistency over the years and has never failed my expectations. They are priced fairly compared to the other hyped up patisseries. The savoury pastries are just as good as the sweets! Come early or be met with disappointment 😉
