Review Belle Epoque - Brisbane

Diana Waines
Have been here a few times & just adore the deserts & sweets. Only had time for a coffee today, so can only score on that & the ambience. Would give a 5 for the sweets, 5 for ambience, 3 for coffee was on the verge of being bitter

Such a lovely French inspired cafe. We had the high tea and it didn’t disappoint. Nice spot to take some photos

Mixed comments. Fancy and relaxing place. Excellent table service. It is definitely a great spot for high tea and coffee. There celebration cakes look amazing as well. But....their lunch menu is just okay. We ordered duck leg and stew cauliflower, but hey are bland(not bad but bland). Of course, I'm not an expertise in French cuisine so maybe I misinterpreted the food. Anyway, still a great place worth visiting.

This is a beautiful venue offering stunning high teas along with bottomless cups of teas or coffees....or even champagne. Service was good and this cafe has plenty of luxurious vibes.

Worst possible service and experience. Went inside and waited for about 15 min to be served. The place was almost empty - waiters just didn’t pay attention to customers. Gave up and had to go and find a waitress (who was very unfriendly). I wanted to simply sit and enjoy a coffee with chocolates but their order system was super complicated. Apparently, they didn’t have a menu so I had to look at all the options at the entrance, then go to the table and order from there. I had a question about the chocolate fillings so they asked me to go back to the entrance, check which one I wanted (even though they don’t have names…), return to the table and confirm my order. I asked for the chocolates fillings at the counter but the waiters couldn’t tell. I was told they’re hand crafted so waiters don’t know, only the chef. To my surprise, the waitress and her colleague were talking and laughing at my question so I had to explain it was due to allergies. Their answer was that I could order and try. I asked for a croissant (considering this is a French patisserie) but the waiter said they ran out. Two minutes later, I see a customer sitting next to me getting served a croissant… To end my experience… I walked to the cashier where the manager verbally confirmed my order. I mentioned the fee was incorrect (they’re charging double). They said “oh sorry” and still charged me double. I had to explain again that the bill was incorrect and tell them each item price. Very disappointed. Will never go back. Not recommended.

Both times we have visited. Our meals were cold. Even my cappuccino, which I asked for extra hot was lukewarm. It was not busy, but we waited 1/2 an hour for our meals ,then as I said, was cold. The waitress apologized for everything. The ambiance is gorgoues inside. But not sure if we will visit again.

The best high tea experience I have ever had. More food than you could possibly expect with a 3 tier stand plus a platter of scones. Every mouthful a flavour sensation as only the French can do with all items home made including the best raspberry jam I have tasted. Definitely choose the accompanying French Champagne. An experience to remember.

Went here for a late breakfast with the partner.
We ordered the Croque Monsieur (fluffy, cheesy but small portioned), Toulouse Sausages (better portion, however the advertised sausages and bacon were dry) and the Lemon Myrtle Tiramisu (interesting textures for a tiramisu-inspired cake, however missing that lemon myrtle flavour).
Friendly and reasonably efficient service. Smart-casual ambience. Variable prices.
Overall, an average breakfast experience.

Seriously, you like to be polite, but what do you say when all is so bad. My coffee was weak, too hot it burnt my tongue, croissant was microwaved to the point of to tough it was inedible, cutlery was dirty, I had to ask for left dishes from previous patrons to be removed even after they served my order. It was a complete disaster, I simply got up and left it was that bad. Sorry but deserving!

After our Sushi lunch I need a strong beverage. We walk over to Belle Èpoque and are served immediately by the friendly Barista. The Vittoria coffee here is always good!

We sit at one of two al fresco tables watching people coming and going. Our coffees arrive after 5 minutes. My large double shot Cafe Latte is hot and strong with a beautiful aroma. It hits the spot! Paul’s Flat White comes with an unusual amount of foam but he says the coffee is good!

The Emporium Hotel has been sold. We hope this little French Cafe will survive any redevelopment.

I meant to explore a particular café at the Fortitude Valley but it was too early and they not opened yet. Then I have to change my mind and drove to the Emporium and tried my luck. Well, there would be some café opened very early like this French style café. Attached to the Emporium Hotel, it looks great and grand. By the look at the cake cabinet, there are lots of choice of sweet treats and wraps but I think I should have the croissant in a French café so ordered one of that and told the friendly staff not to toast the croissant because I worried it would become a pressed bread. Well, the croissant came to the table before the coffee because it was just plain without warm up, not to mention the butter and jam. Asked the waiter to give me some butter and jam. Honestly, not quite enjoy croissant in a breezing morning but I was too lazy to ask them to warm it up. Fortunately, the coffee saved my day, that was partly because the pouring skill of the barista is good and also partly because the strength of the Vittoria coffee was spot-on for my palate. Anyway, I will remember to ask them to warm up the croissant next time.

What's the hype? My soggy lukewarm croissant with the napkin stuck to the bottom ... $5, really? Extra salmon for the breakfast which never made an appearance on the plate? You can open your drink because my nails are too long?? Will we return ... No. This is one of those establishments which rely on the fact that are located in a desirable affluent location where some go to be seen but actually serves food best suited to a mall food court. My water was cold.
A lot of the menu items are bought in but the place has a great feel and the food is good. Cute tables and chairs give Belle Époque the feel of a French cafe. Sip a latte and nibble on a vanilla slice as a decadent afternoon tea. They do breakfast as well. Located in the Emporium.

Their Blueberry Pistachio and Rose Cheesecake Tart has a very nice combination in terms of the food texture. The crumble on top goes really well with the cheesecake cream and blueberries underneath. (I'm an apple crumble fan!) I often find a lot of patisserie super sweet, which I always stopped eating half way. But this tart is different, the cheesecake cream and blueberries are slightly sour, yet it maintains a desirable amount of sweetness. Just absolutely amazing!

Shocked. Is this what you call patisserie in Australia :| WOW! you guys are missing out
Aaaaaa
Nice setting, but very over priced on all of the menu, especially the cakes! Will only buy drinks here.

I last wrote a review for Belle Epoque when they were in the Valley. They have now relocated to Southbank with a much larger venue & very much more chic. The sweets are works of art, but I almost always choose their almond croissant as they are my favourite. This one didn't disappoint, was flaky, light & filled with rich almond paste topped with flaked almonds. The coffee was also very good, presented well in a black cup with great flavor

Tried the food you can easily compare to others, Quiche Lorraine, Ham & Cheese Croissant and a Strawberry Tart. Quiche was best one I've eaten, hands down, Croissant is nice and the tart was beautiful. T2 ice tea and everything else was reasonably priced, must try at least once

Sweet and helpful staff, lovely food and a nice setup.

Don't bother... Went there this morning because it was the only place open. Bad bad choice. Would rather have gone without. Staff are rude, food is stale and re heated, coffee is burnt. Seriously?

Tasty Morsels. Salty Caramel Macaroon - OMG in a mouthful. LOVE this. The cafe has a lovely atmosphere and helpful staff, unfortunately haven't managed to get past the macaroons on the menu both times I've been here yet...will keep trying.

Best macarons in Brisbane?. I am a huge fan of macarons; when they're made correctly, when they are too hard, or holey in the middle, or whatever else, it upsets me.
Belle Epoque makes great macarons for Brisbane standards (My current favorites are Zumbos, Macarons Cacao, or La Belle Miette). They are expensive and small, so not an every day treat but they do take care of the craving that pops up every now and then.
Definitely will be back to try more of their goodies.

Really tasty bacon and egg breakfast bagel and good coffee.

Had afternoon tea here, so good. Beautiful staff, wonderful atmosphere. Only problems: we were given huuuge mains forks instead of cake forks for our cakes & the pastry was a bit over cooked which added to the difficulty with the big forks lol. Regardless we were cool with it as the sweets were fantastic, the coffee was yum.
Creme De La Creme
The angels wept when I had my first spoonfull of the vanilla slice, the pastry was cooked to perfection! My entire life I will not forget that incredible taste 5 stars!!!

Superb Eclairs. Good coffee, amazing petite éclairs (tried both choc and vanilla) , lovely atmosphere. Busy Sunday morning

The little patisserie, Belle Epoque which means ‘a Beautiful Era’, is taken straight out of the streets of Paris. It has al fresco style seating out the front which you would expect to sit looking at the Eiffle tower. Inside is a Parisian style cafe with antique looking mirrors.

When I walked past Belle Époque Patisserie on my way to lunch at Ristorante Tartofu , I knew that I had to go there. This café is small but intimate. Breakfast was simple, ham and cheese croissant ($6.50), breakfast bagel ($7.50), a pot of Earl Grey ($4.50) and a cappuccino ($3.90). It reminded us of the morning when we had breakfast on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. It was such a beautiful morning.

We were actually going to have another meal after a short 15 minute walk, but the place we wanted (Ann’s Gyoza House) was closed at 2:30 until dinner time. We walked around the complex, and found Belle Epoque. We were looking for a nice cafe break anyway. I ordered a Mille Feuille, and a Capuccino, while my friend thought she ordered a Raspberry Cake, and a flat white, but instead got a Raspberry Tart. We both loved my Mille Feuille, the cream was sooooo good. Nice and thick, and vanilla-y with a crisp flakey pastry in-between each layer. The topping was sticky and sweet. The tart was good too. The tart’s crust was really buttery with a nice texture. This is a nice place to have a break in a busy day to relax and chat while having nice pastries, desserts, and coffees.
