Review Lido Italia - Brisbane

💯 Consistent scrumptious pizza 🍕 , pasta 🍝, seafood 🦐 🦑, 19 gelato flavours, great selection of desserts. Exceptionally friendly staff. Welcoming atmosphere. Love this place 🥰

Couldn't get over how quiet it was there. Lido has a lot of good competition now. Never used to. Pizza's are good but their a la carte menu needs a huge shakeup. They need a half decent chef to compete with The Arborist and Manly Boathouse.

Love this local place but it's inconsistency can be really frustrating. Food has always tasted great but on busy nights wait times are painful. We had a 6:30pm booking and our breads came out instantly, but our mains didn't come out until 7:50pm. By that time my one year old was incredibly frustrated and dinner experience became stressful. Another table waited a similar time to us and when the they complained at the counter, the service staff did not care and just said "it's a Friday night". Last time we came on a Friday night, the wait time wasn't quite as bad but still quite long. They probably need to reduce the capacity of the restaurant to offer service within a reasonable timeframe and hire some more experienced staff who understand the importance of timely service. There seems to be no urgency to get things done. We will only come during quiet times from now on or drive closer to Brisbane for Italian.

Superb food with authentic Italian flavours. Nice relaxed feel. The pizzas looked amazing so I'll be ordering them for takeaway soon.

I’m not sure if there has been a change in ownership or just a large staff turnover, but the pizza has gone down terribly. Garlic pizza had little cheese and no garlic at all. The Parma pizza also lacked toppings. Plus both pizzas (gluten free bases) were smaller than they use to be. The last time we ate in the restaurant, service was terrible (waited over an hour for our food and it wasn’t busy). The food itself was good though. Not sure what has happened to this place, but it is disappointing.

Ordered bisque and seafood pizza. Both dishes lacked balance with the Bisque too salty and tasted like ingredients from a can. Texture was not velvety and more like a paste. Seafood pizza was bland but did have authentic northern style crust. We combined the two together and tasted ok. Overpriced for the serving sizes compared to other restaurants in the area. Service staff were friendly and it was a clean environment with plenty of parking. Kitchen was slow but I didn't take that into consideration.

Excellent top notch pizza! Toppings are generous and of a great quality. Proper ham and chicken, nothing like the usual rubbish you get from pizza shops, this ones always a hit

The staff went out of their way to find us a table in a fully booked evening (and were very friendly throughout the evening). This gave me hope the food would be worth it. I’m sad to say we were very disappointed. The garlic loaf was ok but tasted like a heat up loaf from the supermarket. The spaghetti bolognese was watery and lacked any flavor. Looked like they doesn’t drain the noodles well at all and was watered down. The chicken carbonara was also very bland. The lemon meringue seemed as though it was been left out for a while or maybe chilled and warmed a few times. Was not fluffy but instead hard and the sugar had crystallized. The beer tasted flat. The best part of the meal was the ice cream. The size of the meals are very large and enough for 2 people to share. Just disappointing the food wasn’t better. Service, proportions size, and atmosphere allowed for 2 stars.

The food was excellent the place and atmosphere was quite busy but I feel like the place could of used an extra staff member. Wine selection was authentic and food even more so!

My friends and I waited an hour and half for our food. The restaurant was not very busy and the service from the waitresses was subpar. However, the food was nice but was not worth the wait.

If you accept waiting excess of an hour after you have ordererd...you want to pay over the top for a below average meal...and love rude staff and terrible service, then this is the restaurant for you.

The management were rude to my family who visited from the UK...disgusting.

This is a glorified take-away that pretends to be a restaurant.

Do not waste your time or your hard earned money, go somewhere else.

I have only ever ordered the Wellington from Lido Italia but there’s a reason for that. It’s just so good. I’m always tempted to try something else as it all looks great. But the Wellington pizza never disappoints. Lovely staff too

I have been to this place a few times over the last couple of years - for the gelato. I can't comment on the mains but I can comment on how I have enjoyed the gelato. Although the flavours are pretty mainstream, I do love the toasted coconut and hazelnut flavours. Their gelato is smooth and creamy in texture and doesn't leave you with an after taste as some substandard icecream tends to do.

Lido also does a nice, strong coffee and even does a good decaf (if you're that way inclined).
Unfortunately the service I've experienced is a bit hit and miss. This afternoon it was bordering on empty and the staff member demonstrated a less than enthusiastic attitude when I asked if I could get@ served. Then again, there have been other times where I've had a more cheerful reception. I'd be interested to try dinner there.

We had a wonderful meal at this family run restaurant with a friend on Friday night. We shared a delicious starter of seared prawns and polenta, tagliatelle al pesto (with chicken & sun dried tomatoes), Mountjoy pizza and Contadina salad followed by one of the pastries from the cabinet with a scoop of gelato for dessert. The food was delicious and the bill came to $97 for the 3 of us including corkage, which we thought was very good value. It's very popular here so you need to book a table if you come on a Friday and Saturday night, and be prepared to wait for your meals.

Upon arrival it was not clear where to wait to be seated, and found ourselves loitering awkwardly in the outside dining area. A number of staff passed by without even glancing at us, despite obviously waiting to be seated. Besides this, the staff were incredibly friendly and service was fairly good overall.

We ordered a Falcon pizza and the Fettuccine Carbonara. I believe the pizza itself was, ingredients-wise, a poor combination. The chicken was tasteless and deserved a seasoning, which, when paired with the tomatoes, created a bland flavour. The carbonara was dry, and apparently it's possible for chefs at an Italian restaurant to undercook fettuccine.

The restaurant itself definitely needs a facelift, as it seems more like a corner fish & chip shop, particularly in the growingly popular location of Manly. This and an improvement on menu choices and forking out a bit more for quality ingredients rather than trying to maximize profit wouldn't go astray.

FOH staff carried the experience, the food and the atmosphere let it down.

Have been here before and the food was good but not this time. The service is really slow and apparently the menu has had a revamp but I couldn't even find a good basic bolognese on the menu. We got the lasagne (the base was hard and black that I couldn't eat it) and the diavola pizza. We were hoping for the crust and dough to be a bit nicer. Considering the pricing, I think the quality should be better.

My partner and I went for dinner on Saturday night. We placed our order after waiting 10mins to order, which was understandable because it was a busy night. After waiting 20 mins for entrees I politely inquired how much longer it would be with the waitress, whom was short and rude and told me it wouldn't be much longer. After the 30-35min mark of waiting for entree I again requested how much longer it would be, "Perhaps another 15 to 20mins wait for the bruschetta?" I cheekily asked the waitress. She gave me an unpleasant stare, seeming to have miss-understood my comment she then proceeded to debate with me that it had not yet been a wait of 15mins, even though we had been in the restaurant for 45mins already, 35mins of which still waiting for our entree. If the waitress hadn't been so rude and disrespectful, I could have tolerated waiting longer, however at this point the experience was bad enough for us to walk out.

I had high hopes for this restaurant after reading some of the other reviews however my husband and I were disappointed. We don't get to go out very often and it felt like we missed out at this restaurant.

The menu was very varied and provided a great selection of meals. We both chose a pizza (2 different ones) which looked very good when they arrived. The texture of the base was good and there was ample toppings. The problem was, there was no flavour! We worked out that it must have been the sauce - or lack of. It tasted like a pizza without sauce. For the first time ever, we agreed that there wasn't enough salt which is highly unusual for a bought meal. The overriding flavour was the yeast in the pizza base.

The gelato was ok - not great.

The service was ok.

Ambience was poor. The restaurant is very basic, right next to a car park, has no outlook - especially if you aren't in the couple of outdoor tables and was quite noisy. I am at a loss as to why it was so crowed. We would never go back.

Ordered the chicken breast wrapped in pancetta. 3/4 through the meal and I realised under the dim lighting that the chicken was completely raw in the middle. Told the waitress and she apologized and said she would say something to the chefs/ owner but that was the last I heard. Still had to pay for the raw chicken, expected at least a refund on the meal. Left me feeling sick overnight. Everyone else's meal was really nice, just a shame about mine.

This place never gets old. All the pizzas are named after the terraces of manly, their pasta dishes are always fresh and lovely, and their gelato is to die for. Nothing I dislike about this restaurant!

Love it. Best Italian food I've had outside of Italy - and you still get the accents.

Every time we've been the food and service have been amazing. Simply love it.

Lovely. This place is always busy and for good reason. Very welcoming, attentive staff and great quality food. Particularly recommend the Italian pizzas but some of the pasta dishes are excellent too and the menu is regularly refreshed. Best place I've found in Manly so far.

Always good

My Cousin & I went here as friends recommended this place - Food Ordinary, Pasta I had ordered was clumpy and dry as if it was cooked few days ago & Zapped in the microwave. Pizza was ok - not the best I had, your better off going into the city.

Food is always good. But every time I go there they start stacking the tables away if it starts to get quiet even if it is 8.30pm. I know it is a pizza place but the owner seems clueless when it comes to his patrons feeling welcome towards the end of evening. This evening it stormed and he was more worries about the roof than the 40 people in his restaurant.

Dined here last night for the first time. While the food was delicious the garlic bread was a total let down. The menu said "cob loaf garlic bread". What we were served was an aweful supermarket baguette one (and I mean the exact ones u get at the supermarket in the foil), I can't stand those ones so don't buy them, pretty disappointing to go to an italian place and get served something different, what's worse is they didn't even say sorry we've run out of cob loaf can we get u something else, it was just dumped on our table and the waitress walked away. I'd go here again but never order the garlic bread again. It's just that I love my garlic bread.

Never a bad meal!!! Service top notch. Think authentic pizza and Italian food on a busy sidewalk cafe setting with good sized serves, great on the pocket and fantastic staff and you understand why we go every week if we can. Be warned, make a booking and save some room for gelato!

Not bad but didn't love it. Looked and tasted very authentic Italian, staff were good but extremely busy! Took 1 hour from when we ordered to receiving our meals. Otherwise good little restaurant.

Great pizzas. Staff are good and run off their feet when busy. Make sure you book. One of the best local eats other than Cafe La Mer.

Love there pizzas. Have always loved their pizzas and keep on going back for more.

Could be, should be. Should be a great local, BYO, out door seating, priced about right, good menu, frendly staff, kitchen stays open. Food just not quite hitting the mark. I want this place to work so I will visit again. Maybe a trip to Italy might help the chef!

Possibly the best pizza I have ever had! The service was so warm and friendly, the food was so fresh, light and absolutely incredible. Prices were excellent too. I will be back many more times.
Lauren
Fantastic. Great authentic food in a low key BYO setting. The mussels and the antipasto are wonderful, the pizza is light and non greasy.. perfect!

Good affordable pizza and pasta in a casual setting. Also fabulous gelato.
