Soi 9 Thai in west end is amazing. Love this place and will always continue to go back. Most of the time I get takeaway but I decided to eat in a few weeks ago. The meals are well priced and you get so much food. We got the pad Thai and it was delicious.
Highly recommend checking this place out!
Friendly staff with a hugeeeee range of authetic foods. Bit pricey but in my opinion it’s probably the most authentic thai restaurant ive been to in Brisbane. I recommend the Thai Milk tea with the green curry!
My partner and I really love this place, the food is so delicious and fresh and the service is great. We have eaten in restaurant and also had takeaway. Either way this is a place we will always revisit
This place was great! Do not overlook the warning on the menu. The medium is really hot, even if you do love spicy food like I do. Definitely going to get mild next time.
Quite a few options on the menu and I’m definitely going to be back to try some more.
I got the vegetable Penang and curry puffs and it was all delicious.
Definitely recommend.
I enjoyed the atmosphere there very much. But food isn’t reaching my expectations. Which I do like is that the water cups are so pretty in traditional thai style, and wine glass are in good quality as well!
I always get my Sunday takeaway from this establishment. Their tofu side with peanut sauce is full of flavour and a decent serving. I'm a big fan of their cashew pad Thai which always fills me up.
Love the taste of Pai tai and Tai milk tea. Will come more often😘 they also serve meals for vegetarian and Vegan. If you like spicy food , must ask for their chopped chili . I ate the pai tai with chili , my body feel warm .
A nice little Thai spot in a busy little section of West End (I think there are 5-6 places in the same block). The green papaya salad was good but a little bit milder than I wanted (the waitress assured us the medium would be too spicy and for my dining companion it probably would have). The chicken pad Thai was good but still standard and I found the red curry to be watery and lacking flavor. I know many restaurants cater for a western palette in Brisbane and I wish they would follow Sydneys lead in this more often and not
I love all things spicy... so I love Soi 9 Thai for that reason BUT it can get hectic and come back and bite your ass... if you know what I mean! If you don't want hot... don't order your curry in a hot OR medium spice...get mild. I'm a expert in hot foods being half Korean and all - trust me! I love the beef salad but I think it should be re named to " hot beef salad".
Vegetarian Currie puffs are delicious, highly recommend. Tried a soup and wasn't overly impressed, Although I have enjoyed the pad see ew, it had amazing flavour, I've been back a few times just for that dish.
First time encounter the name of this restaurant, I have the feeling of authenticity because they used the name "Soi 9" which means the 9th Lane in Thai. This feeling sounds silly but I rather give it a go. Had dinner to celebrate friend's birthday. Set-up is quite characteristic and there are all Thai waitress (even one could not speak quite well in English). Love their idea of daily special and ordered Pork Hock because I never see that in the menu of other Thai restaurants. Entrees of Satay Chicken and Coconut Prawns were a good kick-start and we were all surprised on the large portion of the PiPi when it was presented on the table. Soft Shell Crab was average. Whole Barramundi was a good tick while the hero should be the Tom Yum soup which we ordered the Hot Pot size (what a good idea!) I do agree they claim that the hotness of their dishes is stronger than average others, moreover, I do appreciate that they prefer to keep such hotness to locals so that we could experience what the Thai food should be (I ordered mild only...which was quite hot!). Before we left, we saw the next table (all Thai) having something special and we were told by the owner that it is a new dish called "Seafood Basket" and is very popular in Thai now. Certainly, I will go back for this interesting dish.....
One of my go-to restaurants when I need a dose of Asian food. One of the best Thai restaurants around and affordable too. Food has always been flavorsome. The Thai black coffee is best black and ask them to put less sugar as it can ber overtly sweet.
If you have been to Thailand and fall in love with street food there. You will love food in soi 9. Sometimes It might take time to wait for my ordered but worth to wait for it. The price is average to comparing with Thai restaurants in West End. I don't get if you think they don't provide real Thai taste. I originally from Thailand and When my mum comes to visited me here, she always asks me to take her to has spicy Thai food as usual Thais. Soi 9 is once of my mum favourite Thai restaurant in Brisbane. If you love to taste Tropical herbs the food that I would recommend you is Larb Pla barramundi (supposed to spicy)
Just have a try you may add new favourite restaurant in your list.
I highly recommend deep fried barramundi on top with Paw paw salad and prawn fried rice. It impressed my friend who has first experience for Thai food. Definitely we will go back!
Absolutely delicious Thai food. Very fresh and tasty. We had the whole Barramundi fish which was outstanding and a duck dish which we also loved. BYO too so that's a bonus. Genuine friendly service. Highly recommend.
Been here for friendly dinner with thai friend, she guaranteed me that was authentic thai food and I got satisfied. I had a curry coconut beef soup mild. Beware of mild because in this restaurant it's really hot. I'll be back
The food here is so delicious, we've been back many times since we first tried it. Best Thai I've had. Staff are also lovely, and prices are reasonable as well. Try the pork sticks, the whole barramundi with chilli paste, and the red duck curry (obviously).

I just wanted to do another final review, since in a couple of days I am moving to Melbourne and will no longer be able to enjoy this wonderful restaurant. Something I didn't mention in my previous review is that my boyfriend is thai. Recently his parents were visiting Australia and we brought them here a couple of times, and they absolutely loved it. We come here often, and I am going to miss it so much! The food is excellent, and the girls who work here are so lovely :) My boyfriend says it is the best Thai food he has eaten in Australia. We've tried so many of the dishes now and I can't fault any of them. Just go, you won't regret it ❤️
Always delicious and very authentic (my Thai wife says so). Definitely one of the best Thai restaurants around Brisbane. The reviewers below obviously don't know what authentic Thai food tastes like if they were disappointed.
Best Thai in Brisbane! This restaurant is the real deal! It's unassuming, casual and welcoming - but the food packs a punch. The whole barramundi with three flavour sauce is spectacular. The staff will remove the bones at the table for you. It's great value & tastes as good as it looks. The grilled pork skewers are delicious! We have visited on many occasions and have never been disappointed. The menu is in English but there is also a menu board that's written in Thai and holds some truly unusual & authentic dishes. Save room for a dessert of giant homemade sago/tapioca pearls, the size of maltesers, served in warm sweetened coconut milk. Yum! They have $10 lunch specials that are great value too - authentic pad Thai ( served with chopsticks & lime wedge just like in Thailand), stir fries, Thai fried rice etc. The staff are lovely and more than willing to translate the Thai menu board for you. Don't forget to try the list of homemade drinks on offer, like the homemade Thai tea.
This place is wonderful. I have been back many times since they opened. The food is amazing, the staff are lovely and the place has a great atmosphere. The tamarind tofu is fab, and the som tum (if you can handle the heat) is the best I've ever had in Australia. This place is great!
The food was so aromatic, tasty, with a great range of spices. The service, advice, and attention to details in relation to our order from our waitress, Pulpit, was exceptional. Pulpit organised and was so efficient and seemed to be everywhere all the time taking care of all the patrons. Did I mention the food/ It was really yummy and delicious, definitely have found my new Thai restaurant.
We accidentally ending up at this restaurant. What a great place with lovely staff!! All dishes were so yummy only thing we were really disappointed, fried icecream. But still 5 stars.
Had the vegan green curry and vegan pad Thai. Both were really tasty. They have a $12 lunch special, good value I reckon.
A charming little place. I would definitely say that Soi 9 serves the best Thai food in Brisbane. It is a bit pricy but worth it. Portion size is decent. Would highly recommend the tom yum soup. Be a bit cautious about the spice level. Overall, loved the experience and would certainty return.
Adorable concept and décor which extended to the plateware and utensils; it made this Bangkok expatriate happy. Cheerful and eager to please staff. I ordered "chao kuay" (herbal jelly noodle drink), which was 100% the way it tastes in Bangkok, and perfect for cooling down in the summer heat. The pipis stir-fried with chilli and a hint of Thai basil were perfect as well - succulent, flavorful, and the spice level (we asked for mild) was right on. The stir-fried duck with basil is not like anything I have ever eaten in Bangkok (in 20 years) though - what is with the addition of bamboo shoots as well as carrot slices? (I added a photo of this dish which will clarify.) And I was sad to discover it was a bit hard to find Thai basil in it, which gives the dish its simple but distinctive flavor. It was medium spicy (we requested mild as well) but it was yummy enough that we didn't want them to remake it and I also know it can be difficult to gauge the stength of each chilli and it can vary a lot. The duck was plump and juicy though; overall it was yummy but not what I think "phad krapao" is usually like, and we were happy enough with it that we still would want to go back when time permits. The menu offers a wide range of Thai favorites and none (as far as I could tell) of the weird fake Thai dishes that I see in some other places, thank goodness. Crowded on a Saturday night, so if you are more than 2 people, would do best to reserve to get a table conveniently. Overall, a thumbs up.
Nice relaxing restaurant. Good service and tasty food at a fair price. Lunch special is good value.
A gem of a place, hidden in plain sight. We had the place to ourselves while nearby restaurants were full, and the food is inarguably better. This is not your standard Aussie Thai takeaway. Huge menu with lots of interesting choices... the flavours took us right back to Thailand!
