Let’s give birth?!

Hi, hello, hi 👋 now that I’ve captured your attention, let me me also add that this is a delivery you don’t want to miss out 🤰Oh no, you don’t.

I’m sure you know what is the result of a blissful human love, right? 👶🏻 how about of food love bliss?

Do don’t worry, I won’t be kiwing around and there won’t be any sexy music or I’ll be risking you to peel off your clothes 🍌 But I think it is absolutely clear that I am true advocate that anything that we do should be done with love. Passion. That we should all be blessing our dreams, enjoy that beautiful (and hard!) pregnancy and finally be some proud parents and creating something magically real (okay, let’s move a more non cheesy part 😂)

MissBliss started just like that - a dream. Jacqui Toumbas, the creator behind Miss Bliss Wholefoods Kitchen and Miss Bliss Treats, would listen hours and hours of her yiayia (her grandmother) talking about what cake recipes and what she was going to bake for the weekend. And she thought how amazing it would be if she could herself try to make a difference in people’s health through plant-based food and giving people their little... children? 😂 (that would be weird 😂) let’s call it wholesome goodies.

And after studying nutrition, creating a wellness and nutritional health website and selling her Miss Bliss Treats around Brisbane, she created a permanent one-stop-shop where everything still is made fresh and on the spot, and where everyone is welcomed to her Whole Foods Kitchen.

Isn’t she the most beautiful parent of all times, growing such a humble and plant based paradise?

We arrived at the venue around breakfast time and surprisingly it wasn’t that busy on a Sunday morning as we would have expected! We were kindly received by the team and ventured through the venue and went to the back area. The place itself from the outside is actually very welcoming and they even had a beautiful design on the outside of the cafe, in one of the side walls! They have some outdoor seating and you are not ready for what it leads to inside - oh no, you aren’t 😱

They have the counter and a smaller area (but relatively big actually!) with some paintings , drawings and adornments and the whole place os beautiful decorated.

Once you go through the kitchen area on your right, WOW. The most beautiful garden rises upon you with a wonderful area for seating, open to the outdoor. Not only are the tables incredible in terms of colour and pattern (those colours create a rustic but at the same time, elegant vibe) but the whole place is just stunning. From the walls outside the seating area, covered in plants, to the multiple clocks with different shapes and sizes it actually reminded me a little of Alice in Wonderland! So epic! 👏

We took a look at the new menu that they had launched the previous day actually, and after talking with the team, we went for an old favourite Acai Flow, in their newly launched smoothie bowls! Here’s what we had:

- Strawberry Split - improved from their old menu, turning a winner smoothie to a smoothie bowl, it is their elite smoothie bowl with the one and only Acai Flow! It comes with only a few toppings but mindfully chosen to make this bowl epic. With hemp cacao crunch, that had a sweet taste and intense cacao flavour, which I personally really enjoyed, that is even itself a surprise as you find it not only on the sides of the bowl (as you see it) but actually also below the acai flow! Very much appreciated and a very thoughtful touch to pease the costumer 👌 the serving of the flow is good, I cannot deny it and just right - people will certainly enjoy the lightness and natural sweetness of it and they will even certainly want more (like I did! 😂). It comes with a generous scoop of coconut icecream on top of the acai (which was decadent and even started to melt before the acai!), banana, strawberries and some coconut flakes which I think were absolutely perfect. There is also some topping that you unarguably must top it with and that is a coconut caramel custard - hard to describe actually as it truly tastes like a caramel sauce but less intense in terms of caramel and more liquid than a creamer. It was good, definitely and personally I would have liked a slight more caramel flavour and more gooey (kind of like maple syrup?). But definitely amazing and the team should be very proud of this meal 👏

- MB Acai - it is again the famous Acai Flow that takes 20 minutes to start melting but this time it’s a ‘fresher’ version! This comes with seasonal fruit that in this case were strawberries, a nicely cut kiwi portion and an actual outer slice of mango. It also comes with house made Miss Bliss granola that clearly speaker for itself in terms of quality 👏 my friend had this one and loved it!

- Black detox smoothie - interesting and risky call front hear guys, really, as I think you either like it or hate it. I actually enjoyed it but I wouldn’t say it was the best smoothie I’ve ever had as both the consistency and the taste were quite different than your usual smoothie or smoothie bowl. Plus when you have such an epic acai flow bowl on the side, it’s hard to beat that with any smoothie 😂 it is a blend of blackberries and mango of which you cannot taste much of the latter - it actually it tastes more like blackberries and definitely not a sweet smoothie. It is also mixed with activated charcoal which not only gives that intense darker colour but actually provides a characteristic taste to it that I would say it even touches the sour side. And if that’s not risky enough, this team adds ginger this mysterious and intriguing blend with coconut water which I would say it’s to enhance the flavour. Like I said I didn’t hate it, but it does have a strong taste, very much blackberry based and not sweet. Regarding the texture it’s quite interesting that they add an impressive amount of chia seeds to it and they come floating around the whole around 400mL smoothie - definitely not something I would personally do and it makes me think of this as a more watery/liquid chia pudding actually. It is undoubtedly a different option that I think more bold people would enjoy trying if I were to think again about the smoothie choice I would go for the below one 👇

- PB cacao smoothie - an epic and winner choice by the name itself and it is 100% accurate to its sense 👏 with banana, peanut butter and cacao my friend loved it and it certainly looked and sounded very good. The ingredients are blended with almond milk and some cacao nibs that also come on the top, if you want to have a smoothie, then this one is a guaranteed party 👏

Overall, it was a good start of the day. It is enjoyable to stay in that little garden and just chat and catch some sunlight while enjoying some good food 🥰

This review is only based on the nut and seed slice I had, which was dense and filling. Exactly what you would expect from a whole foods cafe! Will come back next time to try the rest of the menu.

Ordered the Mango bombe French toast and PB caramel smoothie. The French toast dish is beautifully plated with more extras than actual French toast. I like to have two pieces of toast... but this one wasn’t very good. However, I LOVED the coconut ice cream! And I’m usually not a big fan of coconut. Most of the toppings were great too, but the panna cotta didn’t taste of much. Would have liked the meringue to be more crispy than chewy with the passion fruit blossom being so chewy, too. Don’t know where the caramel in the smoothie is, but great peanut butter banana shake.
