a tasty satisfying meal especially if you're craving Malaysian/Indonesian food. the prices are considerably cheap, especially for the city.
the flavours are there and although there's plenty of noodles, i do feel like the dishes were lacking in variety and vegetables. the duck tom yum i had was nice, although the mushrooms were bland, but the soup base was nice. this place is super friendly for gluten free folk and vegans so i would definitely recommend it to those who have more restricted diets (and it's halal too). the duck dishes are really cheap compared to other places, so it's definitely worth it. the soup-based dishes aren't as great as the fried noodles dishes, and same goes for chicken vs duck (chicken not that great). service was friendly although i went during non-peak hour.
the place isn't designed that prettily, and getting to the toilets is like walking into a horror-esque movie but the toilets are really clean and well maintained too, which is surprising for a hole in the wall restaurant like this. overall, liked the place and would come again
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
+3.5
Lady Meatball and I visited Satay Club to test out their Chicken Satay.
The chicken itself was well cooked, tender and moist with good flavor, but the ratio of sauce to chicken was a bit skewed and the sauce overpowered the chicken. The plate had a small pool of oil under the chicken and about half of the sauce went to waste.
Overall a good dish, but I won't be in a rush to return.
Food is always top quality here! Got lunch today and the char kway teow is always so flavoursome! It tastes like the real malaysian food! I wish they would renovate because people i know don't go here because of the run down look but food and staff are 10/10!!
This is my CBD Indo food spot. Go here at least twice a week for lunch. Authentic Nasi goreng to taste and cendol. Also try the sop buntut (oxtail soup) and pangsit goreng. I usually visit after 1.00pm as it's a bit quieter.
Food is bomb.com. Place here looks quite run down and old but the food is authentic, tasty and packed with flavour. Portions were big and cheap, perfect for uni students or people with big appetites who are after a quick cheap and tasty meal.
So after my review below I decided that it had been a long enough break between drinks, so I scooted on down to Satay Club a couple of nights, and I'm happy to report the food is still as good and the small interior is as grotty as it was a few years ago. The satay chicken, noodles with duck, char kway teow and Malaysian mee goreng all hit the spot. Still the best Malaysian I've had in Brisbane so far.
I used to be a regular here because it is one of the better places in Brisbane for Malaysian food. The satay stick chicken with rice, the duck noodles with special sauce, the Malaysian mee goreng (fried mee) and the char kway teow being favourites.
Noticed a little decline in standards a few years ago, so I don't frequent it as much now, but still it does beat most of the other Indo/Malaysian restaurants in terms of flavoursome food.
Perfect place for Indonesian people who miss Indonesia foods! The taste is just right! And it's not pricey too. They have lots of choices too
Feeling a bit chilly my colleague and I decided to try something more homely to warm ourselves up. Wishing something different from our usual we opted to try Satay House Noodle Club. . The shop is located near Elizabeth Arcade next to AJ’s Vietnamese and the setup had a rather retro feel to it. Despite this I noticed the restaurant was popular choices as it became very crowded come lunch hour.
Been going here for lunch at least twice a month for the last few years, their duck laksa and duck Tom yum has to be one of the best in Brisbane and only $13! If you're not one for carbs there's also a veggie option.
Your classic hole in the wall cheap eat. Decor and facilities are nothing flashy, but if you're keen for a cheap eat that is absolutely delish, then you'll be hard pressed to find a place as good as this. Highly recommend the dry noodles with duck. Ai Ng
I had my first bowl of Duck Laksa here on a friend's recommendation. There are 3 different hotness levels. Mild, Medium or Hot. The staff seem lovely and are very accommodating in terms of opening hours and the food they make for you. They got slightly confused with our orders though but as we didn't mind, we just swapped our bowls around and dealt with the difference hotness levels.
Still one of my favourite authentic #Malaysian dishes - Seafood Char Kwe Tiaw for just $10.80 in Brisbane CBD!
You can choose from mild, medium spiciness to #HOT
I love the burning sensation of having HOT & SPICY!!!
If you love Malaysian street food, this place is a must visit! Though the seating can be quite challenging, but we managed to take our pram and a toddler and it was barely managable :P
Food and service are both good. Very strongly flavored though, good for people who so could handle the sour/spicy food.
They have Malaysian and Indonesian menu.
This is my first time, I tried Malaysian fried noodle with sea food (also available with duck or chicken option).
The taste is good. Next time I'll try Laksa, I hear some good review of their duck Laksa.
Been going there a few years now and it's the same friendly and genuine service, great flavours and great prices. The interior is modest and I love it - the people are more focused on quality of meals and service. I've a few personal favourites on the menu but haven't found a dish yet that hasn't been prepared well and tasty!
The BEST Malaysian in Brisbane (probably Australia-on par with the Laksa's in the QVB Building in Sydney). Their Spicy Seafood Rice and Char Kwe Tiaw is also fantastic. Great Vegan options as well. Great staff and service too.
Perfect for lovers of spice!
I love Satay club noodle house! Good value for money i.e. big meals for little money, and very flavourful. I ate there frequently over a year ago and have just returned to Bris and started eating there again - it's as good as I remember! good job guys.
