Review Hyde Away Cafe - Brisbane

Timothy Blick
A cute little cafe that is really busy. The staff although friendly failed to add several things to the order even though it was ordered. The food Was amazing but didn't come out all at once. Thankfully the staff didn't add these items to our bill. Food was good, prices are reasonable. Maybe service will be better during a time where they are less busy.

Absolutely wonderful food made with love from quality ingredients. I thoroughly recommend the ricotta hot cake which was heavenly! Wait staff were very friendly and hospitable, and the decor is very pleasant. Seven South might be my new favourite cafe now!

A five star experience from beginning to end. The drinks were excellent (free sparkling water!!), we also had iced coffee, iced mocha, iced latte, and a juice. Food-wise, we had two orders of bacon and eggs, salmon and fennel, tacos, and eggplant toast. Everything was presented in a thoughtful manner, with above-average taste complimenting every aspect of it. We also got banana bread, cheesecake and chips as sides. The eggs were made very well, very fluffy, and cracked pepper was offered for all dishes. I should note that the cheeseburger looked very good, although we didn’t get it. The service was also immaculate, every worker was extremely friendly and helpful and provided great recommendations.

Super lovely staff. Food was fantastic. We got the mushroom Benny and açai gelato bowl. Coffee was great too. And there was live music!! Which is actually what drew us in the door. Gotta support anywhere that hires musicians!

Tasty food (check out the pics); I had a Vegan Bowl they consisted of beautiful, flavoursome falafels, tasty, steamed kale, avocado and (unfortunately) bland quinoa. A little too much quinoa but overall it was delicious. The other dishes looked even better, the carrot cake porridge sounded and looked fantastic and the blueberry hotcake was enormous. Just be prepared this a good wait... The food took about 40 minutes to arrive. But the service is mostly friendly and competent. The coffee is pretty solid and the fresh juices are also pretty good and are a generous serve. Prices are very reasonable for the generous portions.

So I met up with two friends here. Best friends? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I had to take a two lane roundabout on my way there, which let me tell you is not my strong suit. Anyway the staff were quite good, and friendly, and they smiled a lot at my dog and my child, so as far as I am concerned they should all get a raise. The food was fine. The chicken was good, but the Mac and cheese portion was unseasoned and, unfortunately, made up too much of the dish. Coffee was good. I should have bought an iced latte but I did not - my fault!

Great food and great coffee. The staff is helpful and friendly. Gets busy in weekends I guess because it probably is the best option in area.

Have you ever had corned beef with your eggs Benedict? I hadn't either.. until this one fateful day a puppy play date brought us here. Love me a good coffee.. they delivered. Eggs Benny with that proper good holly sauce? a must have! They delivered. If I'm ever back in the area I will definitely be going again. Bonus that the little woofer can come along.

Coffee was awesome. Almond Mocha was fantastic. The açai bowl was just a lump of frozen açai not blended. Only 4 blueberries and 1 strawberry

Wanted to try one of the ‘alternate drinks’. Asked the waitress what the mermaid is, but she didn’t really know how to describe it so I decided to try for myself. The taste is quite subtle at first with a sharp spicy aftertaste. Still don’t know what spice it is though. Friendly staff!

Came here on a weekday for breakfast because I’ve heard good things about this cafe. Can’t help but to say I’m kind of disappointed. We ordered the salmon with quinoa, chips with aioli sauce, and bacon and egg benedict. 2 of the bacon pieces were so burnt I couldn’t finish them. Aioli sauce for the chips was really yummy tho. Couldn’t finish the coffee either because it looked so clumpy after only 10 mins sitting on our table.

Great little cafe in inner Yeronga, the place is a delight to look at, very stylish and inviting. The food was delicious, rich and tasty. The coffee was great too so were the staff. A great experience, looking forward to going back

Second time here at Hyde Away Cafe. Last time I came I just had coffee so I couldn't really say anything... can I just say today was kind of a let down? I got the Acai Bowl... which honestly I never would have ordered I am more of a Big Breakfast girl, and honestly I was kind of suprised it came out in a paper bowl. I would expect this off a random shop in a westfield shopping centre but not from a zomato rated 4.5. Also... It isn't made fresh. You can tell it is pre-frozen and pulled out of the freezer. The texture should be smooth and easy to eat rather cut to me having to stab my spoon inside of a paper bowl. Service is also extremely awkward all the girls that work there need to learn some social skills. In saying that, the food and coffee are really good. If they changed these things I would be back for sure.

Have been for brunch here a couple times now and both experiences have been excellent. The cafe is clean and comfortable and has a nice outlook to the parks. The eggs benny is probably one of my overall favourite benedict I've tried - had it both times I was here :D

I’ve only tried the coffee here so far but have been happy with the coffee and the service I received. It is a pleasant surprise to find a place like this in this area.

Finally ventured to the burbs to check this place out and I’m glad I did! Such a neighbourhood gem. I ordered the beetroot latte and crispy waffles. The beetroot latte had a gorgeous red hue but lacked flavour. I would suggest including some extra spices in there to add some flavour. The crispy waffles were fantastic. The chocolate panacotta wasn’t overly sweet and had a beautiful creamy yet firm texture. The waffle itself was beautifully cooked and love the egg shape. The fresh fruit balanced the whole dish and hazelnuts added an extra crunch.

Went here for weekend brunch and a catch up with friends. We had made an online reservation beforehand after reading reviews that it can be busy (yes, it was).

We ordered coffees, which were good and not too strong. For meals, we had to Waffles, Ricotta Hotcakes and Jaffle.

The waffles were good with a good textural crunch from the nuts, however the flavours were a bit standard - sweet and nutty.
The ricotta hotcakes were alright, and was very easily filling!
The jaffle was different - the beef patty was a little dry and tough, but the chips were crispy and plentiful.

Casual ambience - bonus dog park nearby for those with furry friends (or enjoy the presence of furry friends). Friendly, attentive service. Reasonable prices.

Overall, a good, dog-friendly brunch place for catch ups.

Had our business breakfast here recently, some unique options from the recent NEW menu, love my Cheeseburger Jaffle with my tasty coconut milk latte! Great service from attentive staff. Can't really fault it, it is a great local, pet friendly cafe with a great ambience! Looking to return and try the new dinner menu :)

Came here because I’ve read good reviews and wanted to try their unique lattes. Ordered the Cripsy Skin Barramundi and their signature Beetroot & Vanilla Latte. My friend ordered the Avocado Caesar and Watermelon drink.

Food:
The Barramundi was lovely (was not dry and it definitely had that crispy skin that we all want!). With quinoa on the side, it was a nice touch (much healthier option but I felt that there was not enough sauce or that it kinda lacked in flavour). I felt like it was missing another element - could’ve had roasted vegetables like potato or carrots or salad on the side just to add more flavours. I tried the Avocado Caesar Salad and it was great! My friend added smoked salmon (for an extra $5) and all the flavours worked well together with the lettuce, herbs, bacon, capers, croutons and eggs however, towards the end I found that there was too much bacon and capers so it became very salty (I wish that it had more avocado since that was the name of the dish).

Drinks:
The Beetroot and Vanilla Latte is a must try (something really different)! At first I read beetroot and I was worried about the taste but the beetroot flavour was very subtle and the vanilla really added a nice aroma to the drink. The Watermelon drink (is an anti-oxidant) but it was very average (just tasted like a blended watermelon juice you can make at home) - there was a lot of mint inside as well.

Ambiance:
I liked the look of the restaurant, inside it was very wide, open (large clear windows so that you can view outside) and it had a very modern look. It was quiet (for a Sunday morning) as there were only 5 other tables seated (mostly family with kids). Staff were very welcoming and nice however, I found that one waitress was quite pushy towards taking orders (my friend and I had just sat down and started to read over the menu when she came and asked if we wanted to order yet 3 times within 5mins).

Price:
I liked that the hot drinks had options of 3 sizes (small: $4, medium: 5, irregular: $5.5 - price difference wasn’t too much). Juices and smoothies were a bit more pricey (around $7.5 - $8.5). I thought that the Watermelon drink was particularly expensive considering that it was just Watermelon, Apple and lemon blended together with pieces of mint on top (could’ve easily be made at home). The Avocado Caesar was reasonably priced at $20 and the Barramundi was $32.

Overall, I liked the feel of the environment (very relaxing) and the food was nice. I definitely do recommend to give the Beetroot and Vanilla Latte a try (if you want to try something unique).

Great customer service, very friendly staff. Food and coffee were fantastic. What is there to complain about? I had a great experience. 10/10 would go again.

I had booked to come here for brunch just after Boxing Day and was rather excited to try a few items on the menu, namely the black pudding and crab omelette. It wasn't overly busy or full when we arrived but we waited quite some time to even be acknowledged and seated. One waitress was out the front but seemed engrossed in cleaning a table. Eventually another waitress noticed us and told the waitress to go serve us. When we were finally seated we were told that they had had a busy morning and some items were not available on the menu. It was basically half the menu which included all the items that we had come for. Our choices were limited to the standard brunch items you could get at any cafe (avo on toast, eggs benny, big breakfast (minus the potato rosti)). Given we had driven all the way here to try the more unique items on the menu it was a massive disappointment. Further to this the waitress had told us she was going to bring us water which took an unreasonable amount of time. In the end we left without ordering anything. The lack of service and limited menu left us without much of an appetite to spend our money here.

A very disappointing overall experience. The service was almost overbearing, and the nervous staff were being barked at by a rude manager. The chef refused to modify a menu item to accommodate dietary needs, despite the place being very quiet. The food was pretty ordinary- there were too many elements that just didn't work together, and the hotcake was stodgy and dense. Used the bathroom and was overwhelmed by the smell of cigarettes being smoked out the back right near the kitchen.

An excellent breakfast on our first visit. Loved the house-made beans with chorizo & crab omelette.

Sadly, 2nd attempt at dinner was a poor non-event. After booking online, confirmed, arrived to wait an extended time to find reservation had not been checked and could not be found, waited longer to he seated in mainly empty dining room, no menu or attention until some time later we overhear that only 4 items on menu that night, waited a further while before giving up without any service and left.
Maria Uopiaul
Cafe was fairly busy (not every table was taken so not super super busy!) waited 20 minutes for our table to be cleared, another 5 minutes before we got menus THEN we were told half the menu was not available! Would’ve stormed out at this point but we had our toddler with us so we thought we would at least get him some toast which surely wouldn’t take too long.. waited another 25 minutes before we got his toast! Fuuuming!!! Terrible terrible service would not come again!

First timers here and was impressed by the super customer service. Food was on par with most top line cafes. Added bonus was you can dine with your pooch. Will bring our “kid” next time.

A relaxed neighbourhood favourite - good food, great coffee and decent plonk... awesome waitstaff - who are always cheery even when the place is heaving with folks who just can't live without their smashed avo on toast fix (FYI there are other things on the menu people).

Bonus points for being family and kid friendly.

We went there for dinner and was surprised by the portion and quality of food. We had beef ribs with two sides for $65 and all of them are really yummy. The staff is really friendly and nice too. Will definitely be back again!

Visited this cafe for breakfast. It's in Yeronga though not Morooka. We loved the food. We had herb smashed avo and ricotta hotcake. They both were great. Very tasty. I also liked the environment. The only thing I didn't like about , is it's sort of "fixed menu". They are happy to take out ingredients like meet but not replacing that with something else on the same price. They will charge you for replacing meat with a bit of say mushroom or pumpkin which are one of the common ingredients in their menu.
Cheryl
Great taste with beautiful presentation, very creative meals. The portion is a bit too small , very friendly services however. Pet friendly is a plus.
Sarah_Eats
A great spot with a funky, relaxed vibe and great decor. We were served by friendly wait staff and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. The mushroom ragu was a delight and the smashed avo was refreshingly unique served on housemade pumpkin bread.

Dont trust the opening hours on zomato as the coffee shop closes whenever they feel business dies down. I went on a sunday afternoon 2 hours before closing time to grab a quick coffee and they said they could but other staff told me no and asked me to leave. They were not rude and I can understand but perhaps edit the opening hours so that people don't get disappointed?

I felt they tried to be too fancy with the food and unable to deliver. We had the breaky burger and the pork belly. Mine was bland, and my husband's was over cooked Coffee was average. We traveled from the city because of the ratings, but was disappointed. The staff were friendly.

Love the atmosphere and decor of the cafe. Service is excellent and staff are very friendly. We ordered the brekky roll which was more like a burger so not what we expected but tasty nonetheless. The chicken salad was fresh and delicious. Would recommend.

Thus place has a really chilled but classy vibe. Came a bit too late and so to my disappointment just missed breakfast. I ordered a chai frappe and my friend ordered an iced matcha green tea latte. Apparently the latter tastes really "healthy", so take that how you like, but I do believe she enjoyed it. My chair frappe was sweet with a good kick of cinnamon. Since I missed breakfast I decided to go straight for dessert and so ordered a pear and Lychee crumble. I was really excited about the Lychee but couldn't really taste it. Am determined to come back and try breakie and to order one of those giant takeaway coffees!

Love this place! It's my local cafe, and I'm always bringing friends to try it for breakfast. Very busy, but the service is great! The roast pork belly w/ kimchi pancakes and poached eggs is AMAZING.

A gorgeous cafe tucked in Moorooka. It was busy but with ample comfortable seating. I loved the natural wood wall with chalkboard special menu. There was a wide selection of drinks (both caffeine and no caffeinated). The service is fast and attentive. Food was spot on!

This place is a winner for me. The Breakfast dishes are just so fresh and I can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Last time i was here i had the croque madame which was delightful. It had the perfect amount of meat and the seeded mustard just takes the flavour to another level. Coffees are always great here, and i like to sit outside when its sunny as there is nice view of the park, and i get to see all the dogs walking past. One of my favourite places for breakfast.

A vibrant and busy cafe. The breakfast menu there was a bit different from the ones in other cafe and I like it. I had the breakfast with portabello mushrooms and sweetcorn puree - delicious and healthy. The other one with combination of pork belly and kimchi pancake is creative. Service is friendly.

Beautiful brunch with my daughter. Definitely worth the drive from Everton park. Certainly didn't expect the excellant waiter to remember we ordered 2 flat whites from our visit several weeks ago, but he did and kudos to him. Food was delicious and plentiful. And... so so tasty. Definitely recommend but choose your time for dining because we have experience a line up at this very popular cafe.

I've read review and seen pictures of Seven South and had wanted to try it out for quite some time! I did this week and was not disappointed.

I had the avocado smash on pumpkin bread which was delicious. I found out the pumpkin bread is made in house which I was very impressed by, it's really lovely! My boyfriend had the special which was an omelette, he enjoyed it but wasn't too keen on the curry type flavour of the relish it was served with.

My only tiny complaint was that were were encouraged to sit next to a large and rather noisy table (we had tried to sit future away from them but the waitress suggested the table next to them would be cooler due to the air conditioning vent) - I do understand noisy groups can't be helped though!

Will definitely be back!

Had a big group this morning and wasn't expecting to have a table so quickly but the staff member was so accommodating with sitting us at a big table! Service was quick and attentive and food came out swiftly, tasting delicious! My coffee was AMAZING and hit the spot after a big night! Thanks so much-- will be back!!!

Went for Sunday breakfast. The service was fast and efficient. It had a nice interior and got quite noisy, which was fine. I had roast pork belly, kimchi pancake and poached eggs, and it was delicious.

This place has a nice relaxed interior and serves good food. Ordered the fried hot potato cakes or something and they were indeed hot, crunchy and delicious! Also had the spiced sausage with the white beans which were quite bland. Juices were tasty though.

Definitely worth a visit, I loved it.
The atmosphere is great and it's nice to sit watching the park. The waiters are prompt and friendly, the coffee is great and the food is inventive and tastes wonderful. There is a special on the board (at time of writing) which is pork and prawn san choi bau.
I'm certainly coming back.

Seven-VII-South

I recently enjoyed brunch at Seven-VII-South with my wife and youngest son and we were all very impressed. Situated on Hyde Rd Yeronga, directly opposite the dog park and playground, Seven South is an awesome option for casual yet sophisticated dining on the inner south of Brisbane.

The restaurant has some cool decor adorning the interior. There is a living wall of greenery along with some funky lighting. This lends to the casual sophistication, and with plenty of natural lighting streaming through the french doors the interior is warm and welcoming.

Service is attentive without being overbearing, which I find is the hallmark of good hospitality. The staff are very good at their jobs, and the barista makes a mean coffee.

Now the food...holy moly!! Simply put, it is spectacular. You will find a variation of what is known and loved on the menu and it is presented beautifully. The Smashed Avocado comes served on Pumpkin Bread instead of the usual Sourdough, and it is an awesome move by the chef. The pumpkin bread offers a lighter base as well as a new dimension in the flavour profile, definitely a must try item on the menu. Price point is spot on with serving size also being very generous.

If Seven South is not yet on your radar, it is now!

I was prompted to go to this place by Instagram and one of my work mates who is a food blogger too! Her instagram name is SouthEastEats and she's a big deal. Unfortunately we were on very different shifts so I went straight after nights with a friend of mine called W., and K.,!. Parking is a bit sparse, it's a weird little shopping strip in the middle of suburbia. Leg it, if you're unlucky.

Seven south is amazing!!!! We had the most amazing service in a cafe with an awesome ambience and great food!!! The reknown blueberry ricotta hotcake that has been making waves on Instagram sure was delicious. Just a piece of advice, do share this dish. It's extremely filling. The omelette(a special) was delicious too and the scallops were great. We also ordered the portable lo mushrooms, which were very tasty. The coffee was smooth and well balanced.

Have been there for coffee and cake was so impressed we went back for dinner, the staff and the chefs are great, the owner know what he is doing so keep it up
Tasting Plate
This place is awesome! Can't fault the food, coffee or the service!

We went here for dinner and ordered the ribs to share with some chips on the side. We had a beautiful bottle of wine and the cheesecake mousse for dessert. Everything was perfect, we stayed for 2.5 hours and were looked agree constantly.

The next week we wanted breakfast and headed back. It was busy and we had to wait but the service while we waited was warm and welcoming. When we sat down (after 10 mins) our drinks came out within 5 minutes and 10 minutes after that our food came. Hubby got the special which was eggs benny with confit duck (OMG so good... I stole some duck while he wasn't looking) and I had the smashed avo on pumpkin bread and added bacon. So good! Will definitely be back, maybe we'll come for lunch next 😀

Visited on a rainy day flies were crazy lot... Apart from that food was great, had smashed avo which what I think is the best I had so far in Brisbane and gnocchi. Staff were very nice and the ambient was good too.

Went to this little gem today and just wish I had discovered it sooner. Staff were excellent, super friendly, and has a great vibe! Coffee was smooth and tasty! Food was epic! Have just left totally satisfied and can't wait to go back again! 👌
The Food Oracle
We tried to book but I guess they were too busy to pick up the phone. Instead we walked down and were met with alot of waiting people. We were advised there was a 20 minute wait, we were happy to wait but we were then given the option seated at the bar after only 10. He had the hot cakes with hot smoked salmon, I had the Croque Madam. Both were beyond good. The service was also exceptional despite how busy the place was. I am so so happy to have found this gem in walking distance from our place, we will be weekend regulars for sure

This new popular kid on the block, Seven South, having opened to much praise and popularity with numerous diners, should well be becoming the next staple in the area - or the mainstay given the location. In all honesty, I thought it was a bit over-rated and that is even without the build-up and anticipation for getting to it. This is not a botch or anything, since a great deal of effort has obviously been put into the place and it deserves credit where credit is due (as always). With the area it is in, and being dog friendly and all that they do still earn their spot on the dining scene - we must agree to disagree here.

Trying to get in here a while back with my dining buddy, it was too popular to get a table. There was a line (albeit small, but it still translated to a wait) out the door, and then he was a bit too hungry to bothered so it was off to elsewhere then. Here is round number two, taking is daughter out for a meal. Learning from last time, it was getting woken up early to go there. This time around, it was not during a weekend so that possibly was the reason for why it was not as busy as expected. The three of us managed to waltz into the restaurant without any issues or hesitation for a meal.

Where it does go well is the interior design, and the al fresco setting (a view across the road of Hyde Road Park does not hurt either). The whole look of the place is open plan. There are timber walls, and bits of greenery are peppered at numerous points along the wall. This is a good addition that helps give it a bit more liveliness Heaps of tables and chairs are placed all around the area (with a couple of big, continuous tables and some higher bar stool sort of tables), making the feel pretty casual and making people feel relaxed. They have done their job in that regard. Outside suits dog walkers just fine, catering to the four-legged customers.

I will give a bit of credit to their menu. This is not one that is succinctly definable, and from the scour of each of their menus, what is clear about it is that they give an effort to each meal and care deeply about presenting it as it is. Expect some usual classics, with a bit of a tweak here and there at breakfast, a good sweets selection from the main cabinet, and both a lunch and dinner menu that are worth checking out. These are mostly some standard items that can be found most places, given more flair than normal. Add onto that the drinks menu, which has a couple of wine lists, and a bunch of non-alcoholic drinks which includes freshly squeezed juices, smoothie and coffee among others.

Well, with ordering the items (and especially when it comes to breakfast) the first order of business was some coffees. In this instance, the coffee comes from Dramanti Roasters, and that is normally a good sign to come. While not the boldest or strongest roaster that is around, they can be relied upon produce a tasty cup of coffee. As per usual, the one that I got was a doppio. This coffee was not too bad. Everything that is needed to make a decent cup was there - a good extraction, smooth texture and a temperature between lukewarm and hot. Good for a quick drink, or a small sip, depending on your preferred style.

These were the much-lauded item on the menu, so without a doubt, I was going to order the potato and parmesan hotcakes. Lots of people on here reviewing it specially gave mention to it. When something is that popular, or gets chirped about that much, you know it is the deal to go and order it. These hotcakes were fried, and came with an avocado aioli, some pumpkin-based hommous and a poached eggs with a choice of either bacon or smoked salmon. Without hesitation, I went for the former choice (ordered crispy of course) and that the yolk be soft and runny. In all honesty, they were a bit too bland; what they needed was .... something. Something put into the mixture to flavour or spice them up, just it needed a bit more substance to it than there was. Which is a pity, since it was technically well done. The potato was soft, and there was a good crispy outside with the pan-frying. Perhaps if they were a bit thinner, it would be more consistent with the texture. Everything else was fine to quite good - the avocado aioli was a nice and inventive touch, the pumpkin-based hommous was sweet and smooth, plus the poached egg - with a runny yolk - was soft and moreish, and the bacon was cooked to a really crispy perfection. Overall, it was an a'ight meal let down mainly by the bland main item. An example of how to do these right can be at mostly any Indian takeaway - the potato pakoras is what I am at there.

From my dining buddy's plate, I got a bit of sausage - made with pork and fennel - plus a bit of tomato and some cannellini beans. These were also a bit bland. The sausages were cooked well, and did have a good texture. These could well be left alone. The cannellini beans, though, were plain and not really served with anything else - not a vegetable mix, or a spice mix, or anything really. This made them a little underwhelming for where there could be a bit of inventiveness going around.

Overall, I do think Seven South does have something going for it. Most of the aspects about it are good and a bit realised, but I didn't feel that they were living up to the potential or really making the place characteristic. A bit more engagement, or suiting the atmosphere to the aesthetics could really transform this place. The service was relaxed, but like it was said, there was not really the engagement that could have made the meal more enjoyable - particularly, because there were not that many people in the restaurant at the moment. However, the biggest issue was with the food. The quality of it is fine, but what is really seemed to lack was some flavour. With this key aspect present (or absent... depends what the semantics really imply), it kind of restricts just how great that it can truly be. Sorry lads, I can see why others like you but it was not for me.

Wonderful coffee on a Saturday afternoon. The team were setting up for dinner but were happy to accommodate drinks and snacks. Great service! A must do in Yeronga!

Exceptional service. Slightly pricey but the portion sizes are larger than you would expect so definitely worth a visit. I had the Braised Greens with the housemade gluten free seed bread (not for you if you don't like seeds!!) If I'm nit-picking it could have done with just one more punch of flavour but I would happily go back.

I had dinner with friends & breaki with my partner here on the same weekend. Both were amazing.. Lovely food, service & interior. Will definitely be back!

If you’re on Instagram, I’m pretty sure that at some stage in recent months, you’ve seen at least one photo of a delicious looking lemon thyme, blueberry and ricotta hotcake painted with vibrant colours, with the location being marked as Seven-VII-South. Well, I have, a number of times, actually, it kept on popping up in my feed over and over again, and I drooled on my phone over and over again.

Loved this place. I had the wagyu beef burger on gluten free bread with hand cut chips. It was delicious! Great coffee too. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Reasonably priced as well. Would recommend to anyone.

I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE
I came across this restaurant by chance and am definitely impressed. The food is great and so is the coffee. What stood out the most to me was definitely the chips, thick cut chips cooked to perfection. Being a pet friendly place definitely made me love the place even more. Would definitely recommend this place for breakfast or lunch.
The Brunch Bitch
I came across Seven South by pure chance and oh Lordy am I glad I did! By the time I had read half he menu my mouth was already salivating. Coffee first which did take longer than I would have expected to come out on a quiet Monday, however I was happy to wait given it was made beautifully. My girlfriend and I decided (finally) to share the Duck Salad and the Slow Cooked Lamb. OH MY GOD. The duck was cooked so perfectly and the roast pumpkin salad that accompanied it was delightful. But the star of the day had to be that slow cooked lamb. Literally melts in the mouth with such an amazing flavour. The hand cut chips were a little dry and could have used some aioli or something. But overall, we were both blow away!
Amel
Totally amazing. Had the potato hot cake with salmon and seriously, amazing. Everything was on point, tasty, well seasoned, perfectly poached eggs, amazing house smoked salmon, memorable avocado alioli and pumpkin humus. The wait was worth it and totally obvious as the house was full when we sat there. I mean, if the waiter struggles to find a table you know what you are in for! Congrats to the boh, the menu is complex, creative and super labour intensive. Amazing work, well done.
Mr E
Expected a lot but was a bit disappointed. Sunday brunch took 45 min and it came out pretty soggy for both meals. Maybe they were a bit rushed.

In the rapidly evolving landscape that is Brisbane’s café scene, it takes something special to make a mark – the food needs to be unique, beautiful and most importantly leave you wanting more. Seven South has ticks for all three of those based on our recent visits. Set in leafy suburban Yeronga, the open plan café is bright and breezy, looking out over a park. Copper fixtures are always a lovely touch, as is the timber wall constructed from recycled wood after the devastating 2011 floods.

Wow. This was a random stop in to get some lunch and I'm really glad I did. Not only did they cater for my dietary requirements with a massive smile the staff were fast, polite and the service was astounding. Highly recommended, I'm coming back for sure.
Regular visitor! Never disappointed! Food, service and ambience all excellent! Kylie and Gavin have brought this venue to life!! Have brought many people here and no disappointments ! Ro
Formerly Hyde Out the refurb has made this place seem a lot more open and light; really great service, good coffee sizes, busy vibe and out the front looked dog friendly. Had the potato & parmesan cakes with pumpkin hummus + avo aoli, so good. All the plates coming out looked great, definitely going back.

Visited this lovely cafe on a Anzac day, it was quite crowded! Service was fast and friendly, got my seat within minutes.

Ordered an ice latte and the potato hotcakes with hot smoked salmon

The coffee was pleasant, and the potato hotcakes were delicious! Finished with poached eggs and avo hummus, the dish was excellent!

I will be back to try the lunch menu!
Sunday morning breakfast here, the service was spot on & they were literally buzzing. They paid great attention to all the pooches dining outside with their relevant owners & each one was provided with a water bowl & across the the street there is a doggy park (so doggy heaven here!) First up, the coffee is single origin & expertly poured. Beautiful fragrance & body to the brew & full on flavor. The food is also very good I had the potato hash cakes without the bacon & eggs & they the best I have tasted since my mum used to make back in the UK (many moons ago) Partner enjoyed his sausages, although I am afraid I cannot remember what sort they were, but he is very particular with his sausages & commented on how flavorsome they were. They were sitting a bed of beautifully cooked house beans in a delicate sauce. Definitely worth a return visit in the future thank you

Saturday night dinner, restaurant slowly filling, service started well but started to drop off. Lack of enthusiasm evident from a couple of wait staff, no inquiry as to meals or whether we want more drinks. Kitchen seemed to be struggling to get food out in timely manner. Mains are quite good - Barramundi with artichoke puree is well cooked and delicate, confit duck and jus are delicious. Grilled corn side very tasty, brocollini is dry and bland, could use a dressing and seasoning. Deserts are worthwhile - cheesecake mouse is tasty, but its accompanying muesli crumble lacks crunch. Coconut parfait with pear an interesting combination, but doesn't quite add up to a satisfying dish.

All up pretty good for a moderately priced suburban diner.

- Coffee: the Dramanti coffee had a nice flavour but the technique was lacking slightly, my flat white had a lot of foam.
- Food: so many options! Seven South have a full all day breakfast menu on weekends as well as a lunch menu. The options include some of the classics and some more inventive breakfasts. I was feeling adventurous and tried sweet corn and shaved asparagus with poached eggs and chilly hollandaise, recommended by the staff as a customer fav. The elements individually were executed well, the eggs were nicely poached and the sweetcorn was grilled slightly giving it a nice charred flavor. I would have liked the hollandaise to have a bit more spice. As a whole I'm not really sure the flavours worked completely but I was happy to see something different on the menu.
- Atmosphere: I love the decor of this new Yeronga cafe! Modern, bright, and airy. Opposite a dog park, a plus for dog lovers!
- Service: Fabulous, friendly and attentive service.

LOVE this place! I had the avocado, goats cheese and rocket on pumpkin bread and it was fresh, delicious and despite being a combination I've eaten many times - new and exciting. The decor is very cool and the staff were as friendly as can be. With all day breakfast on the weekends I'll definitely be making this my regular cafe!!
The Brunch Plight
We were honestly shocked at how amazing Seven South is. We are massive fans of suburban cafes but this one takes the cake. Seven South is super trendy with an amazing menu and friendly staff. We loved both the dishes we tried and their iced lattes are perfect size!

Came for dinner with the family shortly after it opened. Staff were excellent, being attentive and patient to/with miss 4 & 5 yr old, which is important to us.
Food was great. Had the ribs to share and they were divine. Getting noticeably busier so they must be doing something right.
Good coffee too, although ordering a take away when they're busy will mean a fair wait.

Finally got to have a family brunch at this popular cafe, we tried the Wagyu Burger, Eggs Benedict and the Porcini Sformato- also two flat whites and a watermelon/raspberry crush- all very yummy and consistent, good sized portions- be hungry- best hollandaise sauce I have had! (Which I added on the side of my mushrooms- richness warning but I ❤️ it) Love the unique menu options. Beautiful, bright and breezy location, spacious, very friendly attentive staff. Fast service for such a busy spot. A local gem. Will definitely be back! 🍴

Came here for brekkie this morning and it was packed! We waited about 30mins for a table inside as it was a little too sunny to sit outside. The area is open and quite airy. We ordered some coffee and juices and I was satisfied with their celery, kale Apple and mint juice - it wasn't bland and the sweetness was just right. Very enjoyable. We ordered the smashed avocado with goat's curd, pumpkin bread which was tasty. Good variant using pumpkin bread!
We also had the croque madam which is essentially a ham and cheese toasty but the addition of piccalilli which was pickled zucchini in this instance worked well overall. I think the dish of the day would have to be the porcini sformato with sourdough, sautéed mushrooms, spinach and Shiraz reduction. It was well seasoned and the Shiraz reduction was fantastic! Service was friendly and attentive. One thing though, there are a lot of flies around but they have the shoo away contraption to place on your table if needed. They've really thought of everything! Will be back!
There have been some pretty pictures of food popping up on feeds of late, and buzz about a new place open on the south side. Seven South in Yeronga has received some pretty good PR coverage, and we thought it seemed worth checking out for ourselves. Outside. Greenery abounds. It is a beautiful space, surprisingly large, with both indoor and outdoor seating areas. The indoor area gets plenty of light through the open glass doors. Air conditioning keeps it comfortably cool inside on a warm day though. A fresh palette of colours is used, with plenty of white, wood, and greenery. There are white wire-backed chairs at the tables through the middle of the room, which add to the airy feel. Along one of the walls are blackboard with specials scribbled up in chalk, and horizontal wooden blocks, some of which double as shelves for little pots of succulents and glasses. One of the other walls is wallpapered with green leaves. It all feels very lush, and a well-designed area which accommodates different customer group sizes.

What a great little place!
I used to dine at the restaurant before this and quite liked it and when it closed down, I was quite upset. However, Seven South is better.
Firstly, service is great. Our server was one of the most polite servers I've ever had. And apparently it was his first night!
The food was delicious. We started with the prawns and they were delicious. We ate the heads and all. So crispy, well seasoned and dipped in delicious aioli.
For my main I got the gnocchi with clams and pancetta and they were little balls of heaven. Freshly made and delicious flavours. My partner for the confit duck special and he said that was delicious too. We shared a side of chips and it was a substantial serving for a side.
The plating and flavours were worthy of a fine dining restaurant but the price tag was very affordable.
I can't wait to come back for dessert. And breakfast.

This is my favourite Cafe for breakfast in Brisbane! I'm a local and am so happy to have such a gem locally. Coffee is always on point and the food is always amazing... I've been here about 5 times now since it recently opened and I've never left disappointed. The staff are always lovely and friendly. The big thing for me though is the atmosphere. It's a really relaxed vibe with a lovely open outdoor setting... Coming from someone who loves my regular Sunday brunch at cafes all over Brissy, I honestly couldn't recommend Seven South more!

Very impressed. Seven South brings a touch of class to the burbs, with a sophisticated take on hipster and a well chosen wine and craft beer list. There are some great insta friendly menu choices but, having skipped breakfast, only food that sticks to the ribs would do. I went for the wagyu burger with doorstep sized chips and totally enjoyed it. My dining buddy's battered whiting with chips was also a winner. We also managed to squeeze in a slice of yoghurt cake with lemon curd, raspberry and fresh cream. Loved this new cafe, including the friendly staff and stylish decor. Worth the trip.

This is a suburban gem of a cafe. I had dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it - highly recommend the porcini sformato (which is like a mushroom pannacotta) for entree, beef ribs and spatchcock for mains and the deconstructed cheesecake for dessert. The cafe has a stylish, welcoming decor and I couldn't fault the service. All in all, definitely worth a visit and I'm excited to return for breakfast!

So impressed and more, with everything at Seven South. The food here is seriously on the par of some fine dining restaurants we have been to! The flavours on each dish from starter to dessert have an exquisite mixture of flavours which all perfectly compliments. Staff here are so welcoming, it's as though you're home! This place is perfect for events, it holds a great open space and do some pretty good lookin breakfasts as well. Nice work guys!

Though I live on the Northside now, I’m originally from Brisbane’s Western Suburbs (Westside- represent). Back in the day, out that way, my friend’s younger brother used to often tell us, “you’re wrong, go to Yeronga.”. Yeronga back then was a nice enough suburb, but didn’t really have much in the way of urban development, so even though I was wrong, I didn’t really want to go there.

Head seven kilometres south of Brisbane to the leafy streets of Yeronga to find café bistro Seven VII South tucked into a suburban dining strip. This stretch of Hyde Road has plenty of dining bang with a café, Anesis, and pizzeria flanking Seven VII South and has plenty to attract the local diner.

The ribs share plate was tasty but not overly good value for money as you have to order a number of sides to fill two people for dinner. Ordered the chocolate pudding which was a little disappointing it was way too rich and not heated through enough. Fit out is lovely. Will return to give the breakfast a go.

Seven South (because it's 7 kilometres south of the city) is a quaint suburban restaurant located in Yeronga. The service is homely and wonderful, the owners both work front of house!

As for the food? Wow... They plate up beautiful dishes that would be at home in the more expensive and trendier parts of town and taste delicious. My standout was the beef short ribs (to share) which was only $55 and was huuggee! Super tender and one of the best I've had. The thick cut chips are also insanely good. We were pretty happy with all the mains we tried (as pictured) and weren't disappointed at all.

The desserts whilst looked great maybe tried a little too hard to be different, but in saying that, the deconstructed Cheesecake was absolutely amazing. Smooth and creamy, with lovely textures I just wanted more!

A new local. Early opening and into the evening. Interesting breakfasts and good coffee. Popular quickly as it is very professional and classy. Hopefully will stay longer than previous places here. Signs good so far.

We decided to go for brunch on a Saturday morning. Using Zomato, we looked for cafes in our local area and Seven South came up. As we had never heard of it, we decided to give it a try. Absolutely happy that we did that! Seven South is hidden in the back streets of Yeronga, which you would think people would not know about. However, it seems that it has a great following despite being tucked away.

When we arrived, we were a bit concerned as it was super busy. But the staff are very friendly and nice, and accommodated us straight away. After sitting down and getting the menu, we looked around! The decor is really pleasant and the atmosphere is inviting. While we sat there, you can tell that Seven South does a quick turn around with tables, efficiently clearing the settings for the next big wave of customers. There are plenty of staff on, and they seem to have a good flow of getting customers seated, serving, and then clearing the tables.

We ordered coffees and then our meals. We both ordered the Fried Potato Hotcakes. I ordered mine with bacon while my partner ordered with the smoked salmon. We were told by the friendly waiter that they buy in the salmon and smoke it there themselves. The salmon had a thick smokey taste. I am not usually one that gravitates towards smoked foods, but it worked so well with the meal when I was allowed to try some. The Hotcakes were very reminiscent of Potato Popovers that my grandparents used to make when I was younger, and brought back nostalgic memories. The avocado aioli complimented the meal, as did the pumpkin hummus surprisingly! I did not think it would work, but it did!

I had never tried Dramanti coffee before, and I found it slightly bitter than other beans. But that really comes down to my own particular bean preference. If you prefer your beans with a bit more acidity and bitterness, I think you will really enjoy their coffees! Other than my preference, the baristas made a great coffee. The coffees did not take long to come out either, considering the patronage that was at Seven South. On that note, the meals did not take long as well.

Overall, the food and drinks were fantastic, and the service made it all that more inviting and pleasant. I would recommend trying Seven South!

Had a lovely brunch here and was very impressed with the attentive service and fabulous menu. I couldn't decide what I wanted as it all sounded sensational so I found myself sticky-beaking at what other tables had ordered looking for some visual inspiration. It's very clear that a lot of love goes into the food and presentation. After some guidance from the charming owner I finally settled on the poached eggs, asparagus and Parmesan. It not only looked beautiful but was a perfectly delicious summer breakfast. Can't say the coffee is to my taste but it was well made. Looking forward to returning to try the rest of the menu.

Had lunch here today for the first time, definitely won't be the last. Wife loved her meal and my 87 year old mum had the gnocchi & also loved it. I tried the potato & parmesan hotcakes for something unusual & found them to be very tasty. Loved the decor, casual but elegant. Service staff were superb. Found prices very reasonable for the great quality of the food. Coffee was very good & at $3.50 quite a bargain. Looking forward to our next visit.

Returned recently & everything had changed. Menu was very limited & what I ordered was poorly executed. Wait staff tried hard but food was a let down compared to what it used to be. The number of customers confirmed what I think now about this cafe, there were only around 3 others there for lunch.

A nice little spot for a late Saturday brunch. The range of menu choice was quite impressive and while they were busy service was good. I'm not sold on the coffee but could be convinced to try again.

Knew I'd love this place as soon as I started seeing pictures pop up in all the foodie blogs. The decor is really classy and it's on the southside (yay!), opposite a lovely park and with lots of street parking too. It feels nice, but not snobby, and I loved the fact that it's open plan but you can still take a seat and have a cozy chat without being overheard as the tables are nicely spaced. My partner and I were here for breakfast yesterday at about 9:30, which is obviously not peak time so perfect for us. It's table service, which wasn't immediately obvious but we were pretty quickly told to take a seat.

The coffee was good (Dramanti), hot and smooth and flavourful despite ordering mugs. I had the much touted hotcakes, which came quickly, were hot and fresh, and I enjoyed them a lot. They honestly weren't anything *special* special-the batter obviously had a lot of blueberries in it but couldn't taste them that much, and the pistachio praline portion was pretty measly, but I have a serious sweet tooth and loved it anyway, and the presentation was definitely spectacular.

The staff were lovely (I have resting bitch face and I think they thought I was getting restless as I was looking round the cafe a lot checking out the decor, and the nice waitress (owner?) made sure to let me know the meal was coming soon as I think she thought I was impatient even though I was really just happy soaking in the atmosphere). Definitely a new southside favourite and sure to eat into my budget this semester as it had a pretty great study vibe too.

Amazing service (the owner is such a lovely gentleman). Food and beverages are fantastic. It's dog friendly (convenient since there's a dog park across the road). Just awesome atmosphere. It's always busy for a reason!

This local gem was just opened with new management not long ago. The venue was nicely set up which provides rooms to diners with comfort and relaxing vibe. Floor staff are all friendly and hospitable. It is the first time that I have Dramanti coffee which matches my palate with the help of professional pouring skill from the barista. Well, I have to give a thumb up to the chef, the show-case of his passion on my order of banana bread (whereas the presentation with dashes of icing combined with the aroma from the toasted banana bread) definitely is a lure to any foodie. Thank you for such an unforgettable light brekkie.

I appreciate Seven South is a new establishment and that there's bound to be teething issues. I hope they smooth out these service kinks in time because I did like the food I tasted and I spotted a few delicious desserts I want to try as well. Better luck next time?

Impressive fit out. Good service (actually run by its owners, an imperative for the best eateries, I think). Pretty good food and drinks, although fairly light on veggie options unfortunately. A welcome addition to the Yeronga/Southside foodscape - with one or two more healthy, veggie options, I'd be there every week. Perhaps some roast veggies? Big veggie fry up? Supersalad bowl? I like fresh, healthy, tasty and several veggie options!
