Review No No's - Brisbane

Eric Schatz
Absolute one of the best kebabs I ever had, the meat is really something special, always so tender and tasty and high quality. The lovely family working there is always super friendly and up for a chat… they definitely found a frequent costumer in me and I can only recommend to try for yourself… amazing kebabs!!!

Ordered their new butter chicken. Taste is okay, bit too salty, and slightly weird texture. But the worst part is the purchase experience. Staff went to the back kitchen, scooped rice and curry in to a plastic takeaway container, then brought it to the microwave at the front where the cashier is. In the plastic container. It was heated for about a minute, not really that hot. I was a bit dubious, and didn't want to get sick, so I asked if the source of the curry is currently being heated. Staff said yes (granted, he didn't seem to fully understand me at times), then I questioned why it needs to be heated in the microwave again. Then the owner chimed in, telling me it was cooked in the morning at 7am, and defensively asked me what time is it (implying that it's been a while, and it has since cooled down). Then I clarified again if the curry was sitting at room temp. Then they said it's refrigerated. Not very reassured if I am being honest. First of all, that's doesn't really bode well with me to pay $12 for microwaved food, though it is more environmentally friendly without the curry being constantly heated. Second of all, I am a bit concerned that the food is in room temp after all, at risk of bacterial growth.. Third of all, wish I hadn't been spoken to like I am stupid. Wish I hadn't been spoken to as if it is stupid to ask about food safety, when the food is literally microwaved right in front of me, and given to me barely warm.

Such a sad fall from grace. No No's is a few minutes walk and used to be a constant as my take away for the week. The new owners have overseen a steep decline in quality. I have given them multiple attempts to get it right but every time there has been an issue. The salads now always look old and are lacking the freshness of the previous owner. Items are constantly missing from the menu. The opening hours now seem too be at the new owners whim. The final straw was yesterday when I bought the lentil and rice salad. It was on the turn. It smelt off and it tasted off. I tried. I gave them multiple attempts to right the ship but this is it for me. Come back previous owners! You are missed.

If I could give it 100 stars I would!! Such good, homey, delicious food. Absolutely in love. Now in my top 10 list of restaurants in Brisbane.

I dropped im on Wednesday to get some hommous. The shop looked so dirty and food looked not its usual apetising yumminess. I just bought the hommous rather than leave, because I was embarrassed to just leave. I didn't eat it and was going to bin it and by Saturday it had fermented and exploded in my fridge! Whats happened to this lovely place??

Be careful if you’re coeliac! I was told that the kebab was gluten free however it definitely wasn’t - it made me extremely sick. I wouldn’t recommend for people with gluten issues, coeliac or otherwise. It is false advertising because their sign outside says that they have many GF options!

Used to be great, now it lives up to it's name, definitely No Nos. With new owners, the quality of the food has taken a huge dive. The meat was dry and tough, the salads lacked flavour, tabouli seemed to have no lemon in it. I went 3 times with the new owners thinking they may soon get it right. But after 3 times, I'm out. I do not recommend this place anymore. It used to be my favourite go to place.

Chicken was dry wand tasteless, the kibbeh was cold and we were given an omelet we never asked for and then were charged for it. The prices haven’t been updated on the menu board so the owner charged us whatever he liked. When we protested the price he argued with us.not impressed.

Are you serious this restaurant no way if they have on google -5 star i will put it on no way Lebanese food like that highly not recommend unless you want to waist your money

I love no no's, the food is so good and it certainly seems like authentic Lebanese. It's best to get take away as the shop itself is quite small.
Bharath3064
Nothing like previous reviews , not sure what happened absolutely bad food , ordered Meat Plate Nothing authentic, cold meats and bread straight out of $1.50 lebanese bread packet really cold and soggy . Old tired place and decor, Complete waste of money .Never returning again

Very beautiful tasty fresh food. I had the falafel and it was one of the best falafels. Extremely good value for money. nice atmosphere. I can highly recommend
Emma
It’s hard to rate No No’s as they are very, very good at a very limited menu. Love the lamb kebab (real lamb, not reconstituted). Main issue is ability to get in and out of traffic.
Spice Dad
Wholesome home made food, we love everything here and the prices are so reasonable 😋 this place is like going back in time to when corner stores and home style cooking was the norm. Highly recommended

This place has been around for a long time and I would expect better from them. I will try again to see if there is an improvement. I was there a few weeks ago.
Just Another Aussie In Vancouver
Delicious, wholesome, tasty and well priced Lebanese food. A great hole in the wall spot favoured by locals. The Baba Ghanouj is my favourite!
Cino's Mum
Comfort food which tastes like light nostalgia.

Mine: chicken kebab is hefty, dense & laden with chunks of garlic marinated breast & that pungent garlic sauce I'll be tasting for daaays, in the best way.

His: shish kebab balances more greenery (in lettuce & taboulleh form) with chockablocked marinated beef & lamb slices.

Ours: pastries sweet enough to make blood turn into treacle. Also come prepackaged so too easy to pop in for a takehome box on the way past.

The only place we go for kebab cravings.
Karen Landers
Best Lebanese food I have ever had, so tasty and fresh. Served by beautiful people, they are very passionate about their food and service, highly recommend😊

Satisfying! Been around for many years, this local staple always delivers. My all time fave, the felafel kebab, is well priced and soothes the tummy and soul. Unfortunately the only downfall is that they only take cash not card, and because I never carry cash and always forget, I have to run to the ATM next door for a $2 ATM fee. Not their fault though.
An easy mid week treat.

Best babaganush. Come here just for it. Plus these guys are super nice. Great service. Also like their sweets. We stock up and then warm them in the over

Simple but delicious food that seems to have a homemade touch.
Small shop without much to it.
If you like your kebabs with real meat and some nice sides, this is the place to go to.
Hungrygirl
If you’re looking for delicious real food then this is the place to go. I’ve been to many Lebanese restaurants, both cheap and expensive, but none of them serve dips that even come close to here. I would have the say the best hummus and baba ganoush you will find in Brisbane, the hummus is so creamy and the baba ganoush is so smokey and decadent. Sometimes you will get a smile, other times you won’t, but you will always get good food. I can’t say anything for the wraps because I always get the dips and pick from the plated foods but it’s always been consistently fresh and you can tell that good quality ingredients have been used; my only criticism is that I find the falafel a little dry at times but they go down well with some tahini. I’ve been here dozens of times, this place is one of my regular favourites and I would highly recommend it. Definitely try the dips, the zucchini omelette and also the lamb kebbi. The sweets are delicious too!

Found this place through the rave reviews on Zomato and have to say, it didn't live up to the hype for me. We ordered the meat platter which was well priced at $28 and came out very quickly, but I didn't think the meats were amazing. Would have also liked the pita to be grilled rather than served...
Antonio
Fantastic Middle eastern cuisine, traditional, honest and hearty. A favorite local and always satisfying. Friendly service, healthy food and very well priced.

Found this restaurant on Zomato and looked awesome. First time for Lebanese food, tasted like a kind of Mediterranean food. ( Similar as Greek food I ate before!). As some previous reviews, a meat plate can feed 4 ppl well. But we have 2 foodies so we order some others: Chicken Kebab and ... (forgot the name sorry) And I like the decorations indoor so much! Made us feel like in Lebanon, so cute!
Laura
Pleasantly surprised, the food was amazing! Ordered a meat platter for $28 and fed 4 people, we were all full. Chose to dine-in and the food was prepared very nicely, definitely did not disappoint. :) Lovely Lebanese

-02/03/16

More like nom noms or yes, yes. Menu isn't huge but the flavours are! I don't know what they do to the chicken wraps but they have flavour for hours after (in such a good way). It would be sweet if they sold plain rice to have with the chicken but the wraps are just fine

Incredible food! I always crave No No's and there's a reason it's been around so long - it is beautiful. The food is fresh and delicious, some of our favourites are the salads and felafel kebabs, stuffed vine leaves and fried eggplant. Plenty of vegetarian/vegan and gluten/dairy free options, just ask the friendly staff! :)
BrisVegasGirl
Seriously the best shish kebab I've had in this town. Great flavour so tasty. Served fast and fresh. Not so much a dine in place (although you can). I would travel far for this food. I will be back
PloverLover
very good value filling meals, and can't get enough of the chicken kebabs. garlic-lover's heaven! really friendly service too, had a good laugh with the mum and daughter working the counter.
Mattywii
Great Lebanese food just outside the cbd. Some of the most flavoursome I've eaten in Australia. Massive choice of fresh sweets to finish off, I highly recommend the baklava.
Coffee Jo
oh so good!!!!!! great prices as well. the baklavas are on the expensive side, but also delicious!!!

Way too salty and far too much garlic. Barely edible. Disappointing.........................................................................

4 meals for 28$. Family run lebanese deli
Vegetarian platter - Not exactly as advertised in the photograph, but lots of homey food and a pile of flatbread, all served cold. The hummus and vegetable dishes were the standouts. Unfortunately the baba ganoush and chickpea dish were too smoky from excessive eggplant charring. We took half home and heated the vegetable dishes & bread for dinner which massively improved their flavour. Wouldn't eat in again - would get as takeout and sass up at home with some head, olive oil, and chopped herbs.
John Catsoulis
Great. It's basically just a little kebab shop, but the best kebabs I've ever had. Fantastic.

The best kebabs ever. Awesome kebabs, I walk from Milton just to have a kebab at No Nos.

No No's is the best. Have been coming here for years - awesome food!

Big up the Chicky. Definitely go the chicken kebab. Best in Bris. Specifically chicken though (not that the others are bad, they are really delicious, but there is a kind of pecking order for me). Staff are super friendly and the chickpea salad is delicious (very heavy on the garlic but I like that). In fact, definitely give the salads a go as they may not look spectacular but they are full of flavour. Good range of middle eastern sweets. I really rate this place for simply yet well done food. They have a range of shelf items too if you are after middle eastern products like orange blossom water etc.....

Love no nos and have been coming here for years. Always get the vego platter which is great value - buy an extra packet of breads and can feed three or even four ppl. Quick fresh and tasty. A favourite and travel to get takeaway from here.

YUM!. Beautiful authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. Best kebabs in Brisbane. Friendly service.

10/10. Oh my God! This place is AMAZING! I spent $14 and that got me a lamb kibbi, eggplant omelette, pita bread and a whole plate of dips. I couldn't finish my meal so they packaged it up for me to take home, for free. The lady who runs it is so lovely! She came out and sat with us, explained all the different flavours of the food and also bought us out free samples of other things for us to try. Highly recommended, will go back again because the baba ganoush is addictive!

Chicken kebabs. I have been buying chicken kebabs from No No's for over the past 15 years and they are delicious. When I was pregnant with my second child I had one almost every second day. The marinated chicken is just so good. (No other kebab store has come close). Glad to see you guys are still here!
Big Fan of No No's Chicken Kebabs

More like Yes Yesies !. Went here after dribbling over it on here and realising I'd walked past it before on my way home. I Asked the lady today if she knew what Urbanspoon was but she was very confused. I got the shish kebab, eggplant, vine wrap and a falafel ball with tahini and it was so, so good. Plan to make this my every couple of days treat.

GARLICMYLIPS/10 !

Yummy felafel. I got a zucchini omelette pancake thing here this afternoon (hungover, needed grease!) then came back and got their falafel. YUM! good falafel. not dry or oily, good amount of salad and nice garlic and hummus too. their salads such as lentils with garlic and rice, chickpea eggplant etc look good too - not to mention their desserts. As I live down the road, I will be back.
Jimbob351
Absolutely Delicious Kebab. Thy somehow managed to make a simple shish kebab into something absolutely delicious... or maybe they are meant to be delicious and I've never had a really good one before.

Either way, the quality of the kebab I just consumed has motivated me to write this review

OMW!! This place is AMAZING!! The kebabs are great every time and the staff is so friendly. A hidden treasure.

I have lost a favourite today. I went to no no's every week but today something went down which means I will neverbgo back... im generally not fussy but when the dude making my shish kebab snotted in his hands and continued making my food, I just walked out. Lost 9 bucks but not worth having a conversation about it, especially what it was. Effin gross! Never going back.

Flavour sensation. Rocked up at no no"s for lunch after doing 21 days straight in the gas fields. After dining on camp food for that period I was rather excited for a bit of flavour, and flavour is what I got.The most amazing kebah one has ever experienced, fresh, fat, and filling.Jump in the car and try something truly wonderful.
JJ
Lamb shish kebab and the chicken kebabs are amazing! So garlicky, so delicious! The chicken was really tasty. Lamb Kibbeh and tahini was also great! Will definitely be returning!

Best Lebanese in Brisbane hands down. Try the meat or vego take-away platter- feeds 2 very, very well.

The best. Still haven't found a better falafel in Brisbane. Just wish they stayed open a little later.

Sets the Standard. Often haunted by the ghost that I become after a few too many the night before, or after a big day at work when I want to take comfort in life's simple pleasures. Having grown-up in a part of the world void of kebabs I quickly fell in love with these wonderful creations when I moved to Brisbane. However, now I've got the fortunate burden of knowing No No's and knowing nothing comes close. From the strong, yet not overpowering, garlic to the subtly smokey baba ghanoush - it's all wonderful, fresh, inexpensive and incredibly moorish. Aside from the shish and the chicken (both amazing) the zucchini omelette with tahini and any of the salads mixed with baba & hummus always hit the spot... don't forget a little piece of cashew baklava for desert! Also, do enjoy the pictures of "Mr Cash" and "Mr Credit" - No No's provides the best free financial advice to boot!

Tried the vege platter for two - big portion sizes, tasty food (especially the lentil and rice salad and the spinach rolls) and excellent value for money. A must try especially if you're looking for something different!
Catdog
Chicken kebab is the best!! Tried lamb as well but would go back for the chicken, great spices. Love it!

Once this place was the most magic food I had ever eaten. The old couple sold it and it just became excellent and well worth going to.
Olive Oil
Love this place- often dream about their chicken kebabs and hope that I'm going past around lunch so I can stop and grab something to eat!

Holy Freaking Garlic Sauce!!!. These are the best "Traditional" style kebabs in Brisbane.

The chicken kebab is the most amazing experience. It is obviously seasoned/marinated heavily and then when assembled into the kebab the flavours are absolutely magnificent. Not a great thing to eat if you're about to go on a first date or be talking with people in close proximity, but that's what I LOVE about this food. The flavour grabs you by the neck, pulls you in and slaps you in the face.

All of the food is home-made and the baklava is fantastic!

So, so good!!!

Gone to heaven..... Eating food from No No's is (I am sure) like being in heaven. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Best hummus ever! Lovely lentil salad; kekabs to die for! Bean salad Yum. What more can I say?

It's ok but not as good as it used to be
Rashby
Best Falafel in Brisbane hands down. Just like I used to get down in Surry Hills Sydneytown.
Service is a little weird sometimes but the food is worth putting up with the moody staff and owners.
Deano's Digest
Delicious kebab and awesome range of sweets. This place is an institution now, so come for the kebbi stay for the baklava. Yum!
Simon
Fantastic Food, the best. This is the best middle eastern food I have eaten, better than Babylon at Port-side Wharf.

It's a shame it is in a run down cafe, but I guess that keeps the price down.

Highly recommend getting takeaway and going to a nice spot with a bottle of wine.
Lulu
What happened to No Nos, used 2 b best kebabs in town, but $9 for a very ordinary kebab is a bit much. Must be believing their own hype.
Kewlaurel
Kebabs are full of flavour!. I had the shish kebab here and it was just absolutely huge and filled until it almost burst! Service was amazing and the girl who served me was just so friendly but not over-friendly and chatty. It was a great experience and I would come here if I was in the area!
Daniel Kennedy
Eye fillet kebab is to die for, i travel across town for it!
Jazc
Quick, low-cost, wholesome bite. Tasty too. Great little place.

The first kebab I ever ate was at No Nos - my grandmother took me. Can't believe it's been around so long or that the food is so consistent.

No nos? YES YES!!!. What a corny title I know... but the food is definitely not corny. I went here for the first time last night after word of mouth finally got to me! My new local for after work dinners!

My favourite thing in the world is finding a little place that only locals know about, which serves up incredible and cheap authentic food. There are quite a few of these that I have recently discovered, with this being the latest gem.

The first thing that hits you as you open the door is the smell, and boy is it good. If they could bottle that smell, they could be millionaires! Let me tell you - the food tastes just as good as it smells. Service was friendly - the guy serving was one of the owners and he taught us some lebanese (shookran - thank you!).

I had the kafta kebab and my partner the lamb shish kebab. The tahini sauce is so delish! Lots of proper salad and a good amount of delicious marinated, tender meat. A really healthy kebab, without the rubbish 'meat' you get at other kebab stores in food courts and so on. Most of the food (except pita bread of course) is gluten free and I think it's all dairy free.

My partner was very very impressed with the lady finger baklava, and recommended that they start wholesaling it to cafes around paddington and surrounds.

The price is DEFINITELY right. The two kebabs, a felafel and a piece of baklava left us completely satisfied for under $20 (not including a drink).

The decor is very simple - the effort goes into the food here, not the look. It's not open late (closes 8pm) and doesn't accept any cards (EFTPOS or Credit) but there is a convenience store next door which has both cash out facility and an ATM.

Definitely a new local haunt!
Dan
Easily the best kebabs in brisbane. super authentic too. it's almost worth getting a hangover just to visit.
Dave
Cheap but reliable, the best kebabs in Brisbane

...surroundings at No No’s are not elegant, for food of such quality it is amazingly cheap, and the friendly staff, who obviously enjoy what they do, are happy to serve the food as takeaways.
Hooi
I love their kebab. It's cheap, delicious and filling! Can I call this place Yes Yes's ? Hehe...
